Let me get the energy and I’ll make a compilation of Gambit being Storm’s boyfriend because Gambit, Storm and Rogue should have had a canon poly relationship not Mini Muffin, Sleeping Beauty and Pretty Fly For A White Guy.

Like is marvel just allergic to flavor ? Made the most unseasoned polycule ever. Gambit, Storm and Rogue have had more chemistry in the first 8 episodes of this show than anything I’ve ever seen of the other 3. Like are they too flavorful for you ? Must be since they literally erased Storm and Rogue’s entire relationship in 97 and replaced her with Jean, and focused more on Rogue and Magneto and shit. Continuation my ass. Even the live action movies were too afraid to use them to their full potential because they were too focused on the Cracker Triplets.

I’m gonna need Marvel and whoever is writing for X Men comics, movies and shows to stop being cowards and actually get their shit together. Stop being unseasoned like Jean Grey’s cooking and give us some actual flavor.

Thanks for giving me a chance to rant about my fave Badass Diva, babe! Others feel free to send in a name and choose particular things

Why I like them: I really loved how tenacious and driven she was to reach her personal goals and doesnt like to compromise on that but she's still such a caring person that she cant help but jump in to help or save people as a hero, even tho she continually said she didnt wanna be a hero. Just her compassion for people in general, even who I wouldnt think deserve her compassion: 

Her first thought in both instances with her stalker, Karl Fredricks (Dazzler #26 & Uncanny X-Men ‘63 #260), is to reason with him and try to keep him from getting hurt. Also when battling him one of her main concerns is him hurting anyone else before she thinks of him hurting her.

Why I don't: There arent really points about her I don't like. I guess my biggest gripes are that writers tend to relegate her to a gimmick cameo character more often than not and miss opportunities to showcase her immense powerset range and the deep connections she has with a large portion of the not just other X-Men characters but the other marvel heroes as well. 

Also just the original fact the editors didnt allow her to be based on Grace Jones, like John Romita Jr. intended. It would've been noce to have another dark skinned Black woman hero, with star power outside of Ororo Munroe. And gosh the way they probably couldve bonded and had eachother to lean on. There's just so many "what ifs" that woulda probs changed not only Ali's trajectory but the Xmen/Marvel universe at large. But I still love Ali as she is now too. 

Favorite scene (imma do arc): The "What If" arc of Ali as Galactus' long time herald. The way she found away to discover new planets for him to devour but made sure that they didnt have sentient life that'd be destoryed in that consumption! Ugh says so much about her character!! Also that in her time as his herald he grew compassionate to the plights of other beings, seemingly. Because of her leading by example and what not. It's just soooo good and what I want more of in stories starring her. 🥹

Favorite season/movie (portrayal): My rp days version 😏 --But for real, she's only been in a couple adaptations and I dont know if any do her justice. I havent fully watched the episodes of them in the Outback but yeah

In canon-- Ali and Longshot, they've been through so much and if im not mistaken, literally share pieces of eachothers' souls and while things never work out romantically with them in all the times they get back together, I just love the idea of them still being besties regardless

Headcanon:

Gives amazing hugs, doesn't let go till the other person starts to pull away. Read somewhere once about being this way with kids cause you never know how little someone gets of contact and how they might need that physical reassurance.

While Dazzler had global reach and star power in her prime within the Marvel universe, I just would love others to portray her. My top pick was and always will be Kylie Minogue, but that ship has probs sailed, so more contemporary picks are Janelle Monáe, JoJo, Kesha or Zara Larsson

A wish: She gets to be in some arcs where the writers truly understand her and let her shine fully--iving on top that it happens with an artists that stays true to her strawberry blonde haircolor

           The castle feels empty. You have no reference to what it felt like before but standing in the foyer, all you feel is loss. The stone is half crumbled and parts of the floor are giving out but it’s still a marvel. Still beautiful. It reminds you too much of its current owner.

           You haven’t seen Alucard all day. It’s not a surprise, he’s been avoiding you most of the time, but it still stings. Part of you wonders if you should have left with Trevor and Sypha when you had the chance. You wanted to be here to support him, to help rebuild, but he’s too lost in his grief to notice you now. You feel like a ghost, moving between the rooms and having him only half see you. Or maybe he’s the ghost.

           You’ve given yourself the self-appointed task to clean. As much as you can at least. There are pieces of the castle you can’t move by yourself and you don’t try, tidying things around them as much as possible. You split your time between the Belmont Hold and Dracula’s Castle, hoping to have both in some semblance of order before winter hits.

           A part of your mind whispered that you’re being a coward, avoiding Alucard as much as he’s avoiding you. You don’t know how to help him on his path and instead of trying you turned away. It was easy to shake off those thoughts the first few days but as the weeks pass, you get more and more worried. Conversations dwindle down to nothing and you can only watch as he goes to get fish and come back.

           You debate about leaving. You know that he wouldn’t fight you, not really. He would let you go but you want this to work, this thing that’s started between you. It’s still new enough that it doesn’t have a name but you don’t want to let go, even if it hurts.

           You return from the Hold today just as the sun is starting to set. You’re sweaty and covered in dirt, just wanting to eat and go to sleep. You don’t look for Alucard, heading for the kitchen. You see the remains of his dinner, your heart pinging when you see he’s left you to fend for yourself. Again.

           The bottle of wine on the table is empty and your fingers are gentle as they brush against the Trevor and Sypha dolls. He’s lost and you want to help him as much as you can. You eat something simple, fruit and bread, before going to find the half vampire. His usual spots are empty and it’s not until you’re passing one of the lesser used hallways that you hear it. Crying.

           You try to keep your footsteps light but you’re sure he can hear you coming. He doesn’t bother to look up as you enter the room, taking in the portrait of his mother. In all the time he’s been here, you haven’t seen him cry.

           He flinches back when you touch him, head jerking up to look at you. His eyes are wild, looking like he’ll flee at any moment. You ignore his panic, moving slowly and pulling him towards you. He’s shorter in the chair but not by a lot and you have to tug him a few times before he buries his face into your shoulder.

           “I’m here Adrian, I’m here.” You keep your voice low and quiet, not wanting to make him feel like he has to talk. His shoulders stiffen for a moment before going boneless, pressing as close as he can get to you. Tears soak your shoulder and you ignore it, running your fingers gently through his hair as you hum above him.

           You’re covered in dirt, he’s covered in tears and somehow it works. You realize, cradling him in your arms, that you’ve been lonely too in this giant castle. Adrian takes a while to stop crying but you don’t rush him, even as your knees begin to ache. Finally, after that feels like hours, he pulls away. His eyes are clear for the first time since you had killed Dracula.

           “Come on, I think we could both use a bath.” You want to talk to him about his feelings, about his grief but not right now. Not when both of you are so tired. He seems a little surprised by the suggestion but nods, nudging you gently so he can stand up. You offer him a smile and he gives one back; it’s a little pathetic looking but you don’t comment.

           “Thank you.” His voice is raw and low and you can’t resist the urge to lean up and kiss him briefly. Adrian’s eyes go wide with surprise, something familiar flashing through his graze. Maybe he’s forgotten what you are in his haze.

           “You’re welcome.” You lock your fingers together and tug him into the hallway, keeping your eyes locked with his. He hesitates at the doorway, almost turning back but you tug him forward. His eyes are soft and tired and he follows you dutifully down the hall. Your arm is lifted and cool lips brush the back of your hand. You squeeze his fingers and he squeezes back; it’s not perfect but you can heal. Together.

They all take after Bruce in that they all WILL look after a child if there are no parents in sight.

Bruce is a socialist. While he believes a bit in the invisible hand of the free market, he also knows that he's a billionaire because of a corrupt system. Which leads into

Bruce acts basically as the government in Gotham. His company and riches have single handedly been the reason Gotham has a population. It's a socialist city with great quality of life besides the crime.

Cassandra Cain is the person Bruce would choose to take over from him. BUT

Jason honestly wants to be the next Batman. Not because he grew up wanting to, but because deep down he believes none of his siblings would do the mantle justice. Tho he also agrees Cass would be a good fit.

Batman specially designed a part of the Batcave where he can stand where, if he shouts hard enough, Superman can hear him from all over the world.

SuperBat is a brotherly dynamic. They LOVE eachother, but in a brothers way.

Not headcanon but how I always treat Barbara Gordon is that, yes the Killing Joke happened, but she's still a superhero. But now with BatCrutchesTM which are crutches with all sorts of cool utility. I do this because A) Alan Moore didn't want Killing Joke to be canon. Nor did he particularly like the story iirc. B) because no other superhero has let a crippling injury stop them before. And C) because my favorite superhero from Marvel had a backstory that was basically what happened to Babs in The Killing Joke and Marvel refuses to do her justice and BC she's black and I'm white I don't feel comfortable writing fanfic about her. Also BC I think the idea of a superhero with crutches is badass.

Tom legitimately does not exist in my head. Call that low object permanence. Dick's the bi one.

So many interesting headcanons! Please don't take this as trashing your headcanons, I'm just starting a discussion.

I agree with what you said about Bruce Wayne, but I think he tries to make his influence in Gotham less obvious to prevent pushback. With the idea of Gotham having a great quality of life, I think, to keep having Batman continue to operate in Gotham, there has to be a mediocre quality of life, especially for the non-rich people, but I'm 100% sure Bruce is working towards bettering it.

Ooh Jason as Batman, what an interesting thought. I think unconsciously he'd want it but he'd have conflicting thoughts. As you said, he doesn't believe that his siblings could do the job correctly, but he also knows that his methods don't align with Batman's methods. I also think self-doubt and self-worth plague him, so if he ever did want to be Batman, he'd have to work with those. However, I believe in Cass Batman supremacy.

I'm okay with Tim being bi, I think writers should stop being cowards and just let the batfam love who they love.

I see a lot of the people in the batfam as siblings, despite the lack of a common name, especially Babs and Jason (who I think have a brother-and-sister relationship.)

I think Harley and Ivy aren't the aunts, because they still wreak havoc in Gotham, but the batfamily has slightly higher trust in them compared to the other Gotham rogues.

Ohohoho, I do love this question! I will try to list out my top 10 ships (although if you’re interested in more detail, check out my ship meme tag! I really need to start writing some of those again....)

1. Dabi/Hawks (BNHA)

This should come as no surprise to anyone hahahaha. I’ve written 30+ fics about them at this point, and I still love them! They’re foils, and no matter what happens in canon, they’ve got some foe-yay chemistry going on there!

2. Li Jinglong/Kong Hongjun (Tianbao)

Tianbao is my favorite danmei novel hands down, and these guys are a big reason why! They start off just flirty, get a little tragic when you realize they were childhood friends in the past who forgot each other, and they both grow together!

3. Iwaizumi Hajime/Oikawa Tooru (Haikyuu)

Bickering childhood friends! The best trope, and I love all their interactions together!

4. Mei Changsu/Xiao Jingyan (Nirvana in Fire)

Also childhood friends (are you seeing a running theme here, sorry, I love the trope), although currently Prince Jing thinks that his best friend Lin Shu is DEAD AND HE MUST HONOR HIS MEMORY AND CLEAR HIS NAME. Unknown to him however, Lin Shu is alive, and has changed his appearance into Mei Changsu, Prince Jing’s main advisor, all to clear his family name and make Jingyan emperor. There is TRAGEDY EVERYWHERE in this drama, but it’s beautiful, and the only thing I’m mad about is EVERYONE GASLIGHTING JINGYAN INTO THINKING MEI CHANGSU ISN’T LIN SHU and the fact that MEI CHANGSHU SHOULD HUG JINGYAN GDI.

5. Hannibal Lecter/Will Graham (Hannibal)

The top mind game ship and the most messed up relationship possibly on this list, but I DEVOURED every episode of Hannibal when it was coming out, and it was so much fun to watch the game between these two. I don’t even need a season 4, I was really happy where it ended for season 3.

6. Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes (Captain America)

Yet another childhood friends relationship, and yet another one where one person thinks the other is dead, but in this case of course, Bucky comes back as a brainwashed super-assassin. There’s a lot of snark here, and yes, I know Marvel was too much of a coward to make it canon, or even to really let them be friends after the Winter Soldier movie, but that’s what fic is for.

7. Quan Yizhen/Yin Yu (Tian Guan Ci Fu)

Technically, I guess this could also count as childhood friends, but really, they’re a shixiong/shidi relationship, and in this case, with the shixiong completely jealous of how awesome the shidi has become, and how much he has replaced him, but loving him anyway despite himself. I like to think that the two of the made up after the novel!

8. Faith Lehane/Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

Foe-yay tastic with former allies turned enemies turned reluctant allies again, Buffy is the Chosen One, until her near death experience means that there’s now a Chosen Two. I will always root for Faith over Buffy’s other love interests because Faith gets the entire slayer thing and has an edgy bad-girl vibe without being a vampire! (Buffy, you need to stop dating vampires, it seems to always end badly)

9. Anne Elliot/Captain Wentworth (Persuasion)

Former sweethearts, now awkwardly meeting again after nearly a decade! Wentworth so badly wanting Anne to see that he’s DOING FINE DOING GREAT ACTUALLY HE’S A CAPTAIN NOW AND EVERYTHING, while Anne is just sad about the entire thing. Thankfully, Wentworth sees how competent Anne is, and also that them splitting up 10 years ago was probably right, but they manage to find their way to each other again!

10. Sherlock Holmes/John Watson

Yes, you’ll note how I’m using the old Jeremy Brett version and not the BBC Sherlock version, because honestly, Sherlock doesn’t have the same characterization of the original books, besides not knowing how to resolve a plotline. Anyway, the original detective and assistant duo! Got to love them and how long they’ve endured through the years.

So RWBY/Justice League is apparently a crossover that's actually going to happen. Of the little we know right now, how do you think that's going to pan out?

The immediate thing that leaps out beyond the Kingdom Hearts* level of utterly out of nowhere berserk this premise is: while the RWBY comic had a couple minor sequel hooks, and I don’t know how it did in its original digital chapters or in trade, as a monthly periodical it was selling poorly enough that DC didn’t bother to print its last physical issue after the return from the Coronavirus shutdown, and while I thought it was great a lot of fans complained about its art and characterization throughout. I hoped for that sequel, sure, but I wasn’t expecting the book to be regarded internally as anything but a sales failure, nevermind not only continuing it but tripling down in the most extreme and bizarrely specific way possible that’s neither intuitive (unless you have special interests like me) nor surface-level ridiculous enough like Batman/Elmer Fudd that people will buy it just to see how it works. I don’t understand why this comic is happening when no one but me wanted this.

(* The Kingdom Hearts comparison is apt because they were similarly close to the top of things I’d love to see cross over with the DCU that would obviously never, ever happen because that’s too precise and random a combination of my interests. Even if this is legally possible where that isn’t, that would still be conceptually simpler.)

I was asked a couple times in the past about how Superman or Batman could make sense in RWBY’s setting, and it turns out I was closer with the latter than the former - that rather than a dimension-hopping traditional crossover, this is reverse-engineering what the assorted members of the League would look like if they had always been part of Remnant ala JLA/Planetary, some of the old DC/Marvel crossovers, or the more recent Batman/The Shadow. Which actually fits really well with the series regularly evoking assorted fairy tales and mythologies with their characters; this bunch is just one more set to be added. Though that raises several more thoughts and questions:

* The solicit refers to them as Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, and Diana Prince, but will they actually be referred to as such in the story, and will people comment on them not fitting with the color-based naming conventions of that world? Or will they be renamed and evoke their sources purely through iconography, ala Ruby not literally being Little Red Riding Hood?

* How much will the origins of the assorted characters be changed? Batman, Cyborg, and Aquaman would all make perfect sense within the ‘rules’ of the setting with few major alterations, but will Superman still be from Krypton and Green Lantern a space ranger, or will they simply be ordinary humans with thematically reminiscent backstories and Semblances/weapons that evoke the classic powers? I think the latter could work, but I imagine the former is more likely (even if Bennett might keep it vague on some of the details to preserve the aura of mystique and avoid changing the shape of the world too radically) simply because everyone’s surely aware that fans would complain about being ‘ripped off’ for getting the characters ‘in name only’ otherwise.

* Speaking of changes to fit the setting, between being a Faunus and the apparent low-tech traditional armor look of his suit, is Bruce Wayne in here not operating from a position of wealth? You’d just think as a given the Wayne family would be easily plopped in as business rivals to the Schnees and Alfred would be on a first name basis with Klein, but it seems Bennett might have something very different in mind. Also, little disappointing he simply has a katana rather than those collapsible batarangs that turn into swords that Ellis always gave him which would fit perfectly here. And, as so many have already asked: how miserable is he every second of every day in a world where everything is also a gun. At least this isn’t a universe where anyone’s gonna think he’s irresponsible for training teenage sidekicks.

* And if we’re going into individual characters: RWBY Barry Allen is adorable, what the hell. He just looks so dopey and hapless, I sure hope he doesn’t ever have to die to stop the Anti-Monitor. We’re definitely getting a meeting with Harriet that retcons in that he’s the other person with a speed Semblance she mentioned running into, and if he’s tapping into the Speed Force then the jokes that that’s what Harriet does are probably gonna become at least a little bit canon.

* Are the Themyscirans magic, given all magic has a very important common root in this world?

* I don’t think there’s a dud redesign in the bunch? These are all really inspired in their own ways, which is good because unlikely as it seems this is I believe the first time we’ve really gotten any sort of official interpretation of “here’s what the DCU would look like as a Shonen”. Go ahead and say the hell with it and make it Earth 28, I’ve thought before making that an anime Earth would fit with the map.

* Bunch of obvious ways these characters can play off of each other: Ruby is paralleled with Wonder Woman on the cover, and I’m curious how Bennett will play that, but she makes most sense next to Flash, a super-fast fan made good, or Superman, a character she so deeply if unintentionally evokes on so many levels I felt I had to make clear when describing her that I didn’t solely appreciate her as a psuedo-Superman analogue. Weiss makes sense up against Batman either as a wealthy heir or a Faunus who’s likely faced his share of pain from the Schees who either way are cold perfectionists defined by inner pain stemming from their families, or Wonder Woman/Aquaman as fellow ‘royalty’. Yang is paralleled with Superman on the cover and that makes sense with the two country bruisers with issues regarding their lost parents, though she’d also make sense with Aquaman as the ‘temperamental’ members a lot of the time of their respective teams, or Cyborg as they both deal with their relationships with their bodies after requiring prosthesis. And Blake pretty much has her pick: like Superman she uses an article of clothing to ‘pass’ and shares the commitment to justice, she and Batman are dark children of privilege (or not in this case, though in this world they’re both Faunus), she and Wonder Woman both left the island homes where their people were safe to try and make the rest of the world better, she and Aquaman are both Faunus royalty, and Green Lantern is about overcoming great fear and in Jessica Cruz’s case specifically about the guilt of running away.

* Will this be entirely flashbacks to the pre-series/Beacon years, or will those be flashbacks set from a ‘present’, and if so when? What happened between the siege of Haven and the train setting off for Argus is the most loosely-defined period in the story and is right on the heels of the end of the original RWBY mini, so I’d imagine it fitting here. And given they apparently join together “to take on a force unlike anything they've seen before” rather than purely the character work of that previous book, what might that be?

* Hey, superhero comics/superpowers as an idea already exist in this universe, will that come up?

* If we can get one single scene in this and it’s going with a “yes they’re still aliens and magic and whatnot” premise I want Clark, who hasn’t thought of being Superman yet and therefore is still at least somewhat hiding his powers, being wracked with guilt over not pursuing becoming a Huntsman and therefore not being there at the Fall of Beacon. Which is a ridiculous thing to take the blame for, but of course he would, he’s Clark, culminating in trying to apologize to JNR for Pyrrha dying he feels in part because he was a coward (when they don’t even have the faintest concept for why he would think he should have been there or could have done anything).

* Once all’s said and done, how is their presence in the world justified as not being a factor in the series proper? It’s simple if they’re ‘ordinary’ analogues who can go off to quietly have adventures elsewhere, but if not then some of them either have to be shuffled off stage or presumably left with their stories incomplete, with a little afterward of “and they went on to be the greatest heroes of all...later, after the scope of team RWBY’s main adventures so that we never have to directly address them again” to avoid them becoming unavoidable major factors in the war against Salem.

In the end, will it be DC’s best comic? No, though I imagine one of their better ones this year. Will it be among the ones I look forward to most each month? Right up there with Yang and Reis’s Batman/Superman baby, this is a miracle freak of fate and I’m gonna appreciate the universe bending over backwards to make entertainment for me and me alone while it lasts. Given I finally checked out RWBY in the first place because I was curious about Bennett’s original comic, this is a heck of a full-circle moment.

I stared shipping them between s2 and s3. and it started as an "oh, what if they hooked up?" joke ship and I'm me so it stopped being a joke after like a week and now I'm here, 6 years later, still shipping it and missing them

I know that canon did the twist in s1, I know!!! but if we could stop giving Grant ulterior motives and playing off every single thing he does in canon and in fic as "fake" because he was manipulated and abused for 15 years that would be great

honestly? acknowledging the parallels. I haven't read aos fic in a while, but when I was actively reading it, there weren't a lot of fic that acknowledged how similar their abusers were and how they affected them and how they could have healed from that trauma (however slowly) together this specifically means Garrett and Alistair but there's the option to include Coulson here too lmao

quite honestly, for Marvel canon to never touch them again. not even in a "don't write them interacting again you fucked up too much" just. don't touch them. either of them. I know people are pushing for an aos reboot or revival, and I don't fucking want it. everyone got a happy ending except for like... all of my faves oop and I genuinely don't trust anyone in Marvel's canon to write any of these characters ever again.

It’s only when they’re sitting in the escape pod, staring into the vast depths of the galaxy, does Steve let everything sink in.

It’s one thing to wake up seventy years into the future but another five more? Steve’s starting to wonder if he’s always meant to be propelled forward in time, meant to be a nomad, a traveler. Destined to be a Man Out of Time.

He almost snorts out loud. He can imagine what Tony would say if he knew what’s going on in his mind right now. A drama queen, he’d call him. Or maybe just this once, he’d indulge in Steve’s overdramatic musings. He would.

Then again, Steve supposes five years is better than another seventy. He doubts he can go through all that again, of the possibility of losing his loved ones to time. Not to mention the fact that the reason he even lost those five years is because of Monica Rappaccini. Monica who was once on the Avengers’ side (or he supposes, used them for her own needs), who captured him to harvest his blood, who kept him hidden from the world for five years. Just the thought of her sends him reeling.

He knows there’s more to the story, more he needs to know, should know. Then again, maybe he doesn’t need to know. He’s going to die soon.

“Well,” Tony begins next to him, cutting through Steve’s thoughts, “since we’re gonna die anyway, you have any… I don’t know… Last confessions?”

For a brief second, every fiber of Steve’s body freezes before he’s turning to look, turning to see, turning with a flicker of hope. It dies when he sees Tony’s gaze trained on the constellations around them.

This is the perfect time for Steve to tell Tony, to tell him how his heart skips when he’s near, to tell him how much he adores his boisterous rambling and his sleepy eyes and arresting smile, to tell him how his soul longs for him and only him. Time is running out for the both of them, after all.

But like the coward Steve is, he doesn’t.

“Your jokes,” he settles on instead, airily like it’s nothing. “I just don’t get ‘em.”

That grabs Tony’s attention, turning as Steve speaks. Steve almost wavers at the sight of Tony’s face.

Tony’s as beautiful as the last time Steve saw him. The only sign of aging on his face is the heavier weariness behind his eyes. Despite the front he tends to put up, Tony always seems weary, be it from the all-nighters he pulls or from carrying the weight of the world on his back.

Steve’s pretty sure his supposed death has a hand in it this time. He’s not sure what to make of that. Neither can he comprehend the odd flicker in Tony’s expression before it’s gone.

“I know,” Tony replies, a smirk playing on his lips and a twinkle behind his eyes. “I read your diary.”

An involuntary chuckle tumbles out of his lips as Steve shakes his head and turns away. He knows it’s a joke, meant to distract the both of them from their impending doom, but he couldn’t help but find the irony in it.

He does keep a diary, several even. His current one tucked behind his encyclopedias while the rest are kept in his bedroom back in New York. As curious and nosy Tony can be, Steve doubts he’d go as far as to snoop around his room.

He thinks that should be the end of that, this confessing thing. That this is how it ends between the both of them – together in the confinement of a stranded escape pod, floating in space, surrounded by the second most breathtaking view he has ever laid eyes on.

But then Steve remembers the last five years, five more years of his life wasted, and decides that this is it. He shouldn’t take this to his grave, take this to his grave. Not when Tony’s right here, not when he’s here, older and wearier but as beautiful as the last time bright brown eyes met his.

“I’m in love with you,” he says, easy like breathing.

The speed at Tony whips his head around is absolutely comical, even more when his eyebrows start climbing up his forehead.

“What?”

Steve straightens in his seat. “You heard me.”

Tony’s eyelids flutter, his expression still in disbelief. “I— I must be going deaf because it sounded like you just told me you’re in love with me. Which can’t be right because—”

“Nope. You heard me right.”

Tony blanches. “No.”

Steve scowls. “Yes.”

Tony shakes his head. “No, no, no, no. Nope. You’ve gone insane. Absolutely insane. Is it the lack of oxygen? Or maybe five years in—”

“You know,” Steve interrupts wryly, “I’m starting to wonder if you even read my diary.”

If Steve thought Tony’s eyes were already as wide as saucers, they get even bigger somehow, his cheeks flushing crimson.

“But— But— You can’t! You can’t—”

Steve cocks an eyebrow in response. “I can’t what?”

Tony’s jaw clamps shut.

It feels like an eternity, both of them staring each other down in silence. Steve should’ve predicted this. Of course, confessing his feelings for Tony wouldn’t be smooth sailing, but he always expected to either have his feelings reciprocated or otherwise. Tony’s reaction doesn’t indicate on which side he falls in. It’s terrifying, not knowing.

Steve’s well-acquainted with the unknown, learnt to stop fearing it over time. But sitting next to his best friend, the man who he loves with all of his heart, waiting for said man to tell him how he feels for Steve, is on a whole other plane.

Finally, Tony breaks the tension, his eyes flickering down as he sighs heavily. “Steve— You… You don’t—”

“You can’t tell me how I feel,” Steve argues. “And I know what I feel about you. I've known for a really long time now.” He pauses, leaning forward to cautiously slip his hands in Tony’s, and lowers his voice into a whisper. “Hey. Look at me.”

Tony does, shy and guarded and nervous. Steve readies himself. He’s waited years for this moment. He needs Tony to know before they lose their breath, before he has to watch Tony die.

God, he’s going to have to watch Tony die.

He clenches his jaw, whiling the sting behind his eyes and that terrible thought away.

He won’t think of that now. Not when he’s so close.

“I’m in love with you,” Steve confesses. “I’ve been in love with you for years. Probably since we first met. I’ve loved you before I knew what I feel for you is love. And even after all these years—”

“Well, you were in a coma—”

“Tony.”

Tony nods, looking chastised. “Right shutting up now.”

Steve gulps. He had more to say, to tell Tony, to declare. But after Tony interrupted him, all the words he’s been wanting to say shrivels up.

Something heavy settles in his chest, something Steve knows all too well. Something he has feared all these years of secretly loving Tony from afar.

Steve sighs, dropping his hands in his lap and hanging his head in resignation. “You know, it’s okay if you don’t feel the same for me. I get it. It’s just that you said something about confessions and I just thought—”

“No!” Tony exclaims so loudly that his voice startles the both of them. He clears his throat, bright chestnut eyes shining as they roam Steve’s face. Once again like the delusional optimist he is, Steve lets himself hope.

“No,” Tony repeats, this time quieter, softer, and all too loving. “I do. I do feel the same about you. I’ve been in love with you since we met too.”

Steve doesn’t know who moved first but before he knows it, there are chapped lips pressed against his, arms snaked around Tony’s armored waist, and Tony’s gauntlet-covered hand cupping his cheek.

Steve has envisioned their kiss countless of times before, picturing various scenarios and sensations. But he never expected to be stranded in space half-naked, to have woken up from a five-year coma, to be on the brink of death. Neither did he expect to feel the stirring in his chest, the warmth coursing through his veins, the taste of coffee to be strong on his tongue, to even taste salt at all.

His imagination has nothing on this kiss. Nothing at all.

“Wow,” Tony breathes out when they break apart. “That was…”

“Nice?”

“A long time coming,” Tony amends. Steve huffs at that. “But still nice too.”

Steve grins against Tony’s lips. “I’m glad.”

Tony mirrors him but just as quickly, the smile slips off his face. He blinks his glistened eyelids as his grip on Steve’s cheek slackens. “Jesus, Steve. I really missed you. I missed you so much. I was so lost without you. Those five years… Fuck. Steve, if I knew—”

“I know,” Steve replies softly, drawing him closer to press their foreheads together. “You always come for me. No matter what. You would’ve found me eventually.”

Tony snorts. “No offense but you were asleep. You wouldn’t have known even if an asteroid hit the satellite.”

“Still. You found me, Tony,” he counters. “You rescued me from being potentially struck by an asteroid.”

“Five years, Steve.”

“Better late than never.”

“I guess so, yeah.”

Tony’s frowning, looking unconvinced. Steve’s well acquainted with Tony’s issues when it comes to love, be it for himself or letting others love him. Countless times, he’s tried to change this, change his mind. This time, he’s going to make him see.

“Thank you,” Steve murmurs. “Thank you for coming for me. For saving me.”

This time, the smile that spreads across Tony’s lips is soft. Genuine.

“Like you said, I’ll always come for you.”

This time when they kiss, it’s hot and desperate and all so good. Heated hands paw at his body, skimming from his neck and down his shoulders before settling over his bare chest. Steve could barely suppress a shiver as he feels thumbs brush against his nipples, gasping at the touch. Tony takes advantage of that, deepening the kiss to slip his tongue past Steve’s parted lips.

Steve’s about to take the plunge and demand Tony to remove his suit (because fuck, if this is their last moments, he has to know what it feels like to have Tony under his fingers for the first and last time) when he hears someone clear their throat. Someone who is definitely not either of them.

With a jolt, Steve snaps back and opens his eyes, meeting Thor Odinson’s smirk.

“Of course it would take a dire situation for the two of you to act on your feelings,” Thor remarks, amused as he hovers outside the escape pod. He doesn't look like he's even aged a day.

Steve blinks, his lips parting to speak when Tony beats him to the punch.

“Hey, Thor,” he says cheerily, as if he wasn’t just making out with Steve seconds ago. “Fancy seeing you out— Oh hey, we can actually hear you.”

Thor puffs his chest like the arrogant Asgardian he is. “Well, I am a god. It is to be expected.” Steve barely suppresses a snort. “It is good to see you both in good health, especially the good captain.” His grin broadens, trained on Steve. “Though he doesn’t seem to feel the same.”

“I am,” Steve half-lies, trying his best to hide his arousal and annoyance. He shouldn’t be upset. He and Tony are being rescued from their date with death, after all. “It's good to see you.”

Thor's grin widens.

Tony snorts. “Don't mind him. He’s just upset you interrupted us from having life-affirming sex.”

“Tony.”

“I see,” Thor says, his gaze darting between the both of them. “I suppose I could leave you both here to indulge—”

“No!” Steve exclaims, almost jumping up to his feet and dropping Tony onto the ground.

“Seconded,” Tony chimes. “I mean, as hot as it would be to fuck in space—”

Steve starts, burying his face in his hands as his cheeks begin to burn. “Tony—”

“—I’d rather we do it somewhere we’re less likely to suffocate.”

Thor chuckles. “Then it’ll be my pleasure to escort you both back to Midgard.” He tilts his head in Steve’s direction, his smile softening. “Welcome back, Captain.”

As Thor begins to push the escape pod back to Earth, Tony settles back into his seat, pinning Steve with a tentative expression. He looks absolutely ravished, his lips pink and wet and god, he has to hold himself back from jumping him again. Steve should’ve done this so long ago, should’ve asked him to remove his helmet so he can mess Tony’s hair with his fingers.

“You meant that right?” Tony begins.

“Meant what?”

“What you said. About being in love with me. Because you know, we were about to die and—”

Steve raises an eyebrow. “Have I ever said anything I didn’t mean?”

Tony purses his lips. “Well, you do say a lot of shit when you’re mad.”

“Do I look or sound like I’m mad now?”

“No. But then sometimes you joke—”

Steve exhales exasperatedly before reaching over to lace their fingers together. It’s not the first time he wishes Tony would shed his armor, not the first time he wants to know how it feels to have Tony's hand in his.

“Does it look or sound like I’m joking now either?”

“No. But—” Tony pauses, frowning. “Don’t look at me like that.”

Steve leans forward, his lips quirk to the side. “Look at you like what?”

Tony huffs, crossing his arms over his chest as he juts his nose to the ceiling. “Like… Like you’re in love with me.”

Steve rolls his eyes, chasing after Tony’s fingers again. This time, the glove parts, revealing a weathered hand. It’s warm.

“That’s because I am.”

The mock annoyance melts away from Tony’s face, making way for a blinding smile.

-Not even being from another franchise can stop the reach of the ever-expanding Tojitendo, apparently. I'm sure Bokkowaus and Gege have a massive target on them.

-I love the Tanabata reenactment. I appreciate the crossdressing angle, it's fun and it's a great callback to the Tom Sawyer and Momotaro scenes.

-Zox overstepping those interdimensional boundaries again. He really is a Marvelous fanboy.

-It seems Twokaizer brought his absurdist humor with him. Not much to add, it's just really funny.

-Toei, Bandai, you absolute cowards, give Kento a new form already! It's Yua all over again. I swear to god, Revice's third Rider is gonna have like... one form and barely fight all that much, maximum. I'll gladly wait until the Espada V-Cinema! Hell, it can just be Espada x Necrom, just give him something!

-The design of Orihime Warudo is pretty good. Zenkaiger's monster designs in general have been generally scoring pretty highly, but nothing's topped the perfection that is Jishaku Warudo yet. I think this imagining of Orihime being so bitter that they'd make random couples fight and break up is also really freaking funny.

-Oh Reika, how the mighty have fallen. Kanon is in need of some company, I guess. I hope the fanfic writers like you enough to give you what you deserve. And I hope that Onii-sama develops a personality quick, we have like... one episode left.

-So, I assume that Storious is either busy having a dentist appointment or auditioning for the movie? I'm guessing it takes place a bit earlier in the plot, probably around Ep. 40, and I know these specials have loose continuity anyway, but it's so weird going from losing Desast to YOHOHOI to THE WORLD IS GONNA DIE, FUCK YOU SWORDSMEN!

-Y'know, I kinda understand why Orihime Warudo was acting so bitter, Hikoboshi Warudo's a real dick. Chasing women when his beloved neighbor's out of season on behalf of the Tojitendo. He's not even doing his job right, the pig. Apparently he also chose not to take away the Noroshi and Konchuu Daihyakka Book? Yeah, no wonder Ijirude's so mad at him.

-Y'know, if Kaito and Magine really wanted to celebrate Tanabata twice in the same summer, they could wait a few weeks and make a three hour drive to Sendai on August 8th, which I hear is when they celebrate it. August 14th seems to be a little too long a wait.

-Oh Secchan, you're annoying and adorable~! I can't stay mad at your exposition for too long~! I understand why Bokkowaus dotes on Gege so much~!

-I guess Stacey's currently hanging out with Storious and the rest of the Northern Base Riders in the Not-Immediately-Marketable-Zone. Poor kid, at least give him a candy bar.

-Super Twokaizer looks way too freakin' cool. Good on Flint, she's a fun and interesting gal of fine aesthetical taste and exceptional engineering talent.

-The Kamen Rider Gears are interesting. Definitely not canon, but they're a fun little addition.

-Meanwhile Reika and Ryoga continue the Shindai family tradition of looking cool and displaying identifiable personality only when it's irrelevant to Saber. Goddammit Fukuda, I wanted to like you so much... Ah well, at least their fights were cool. ...well, Ryoga's anyway, Reika kinda got unfairly shafted this episode. Again. In a different series, no less. Good GOD, guys, why do you hate your extra Riders so much? ...her hugging Magine was nice though, that was cute. Ryoga also rocked that dress, ngl.

Looking forward to when I finally get to watch Super Hero Senki. Asmodeus looks sick, btw.

Chapter Twenty Eight: The One When He Comes Home

   Lily and Cedar sat in the lab for a few moments after she posed her question, eyes locked on one another, trying to figure out what the other was thinking. The two were seemingly two birds of a feather when they were younger, but as age and the years weathered them both, they split into two. Neither truly understanding what was going on in the other's head. Lily used to be able to figure out Cedar in a matter of seconds, but now...he was just a shell of the brother she adored. He wasn't who he used to be. It broke Lily to see him like this, but she wondered if it may be a charade. If his entire presence was a trick done by her parents to get their hands on what they truly wanted out of all of this.

"So are we just going to sit here and stare at each other?" Cedar quipped, shifting in his seat, "Learn that from the assassin you let sleep in the same house as my nephew?"

Lily lowered her eyes at his words, a rage boiling deep inside of her, "What happened to the calm and relaxed demeanour from yesterday?" she questioned, crossing her legs, "And don't speak about James like that. You don't know him."

"What? Not Bucky anymore?"

"Not to you, he isn't."

Both resumed the same tense silence as earlier, though this time, Lily's back stood a bit straighter. Her eyes lowered and focused solely on the expressionless face of Cedar. He was hiding something behind that facade of being too weak, but that may simply be the cynic inside of Lily. Perhaps he was telling the truth. Perhaps her parents used him against his own will. But if she knew Cedar, he didn't do it willingly.

"What do you want, Cedar?" Lily questioned, leaning back in her seat as Natasha walked in with pancakes.

"To help," he stated cooly, eyes glancing to the agent that dropped the two plates in front of Lily and him, "To help you, and the others."

Lily stayed silent as she waited for Natasha to leave the room. When she did, the blonde leaned forward and took a bite of the pancakes. Not as good as hers, but not bad. She watched Cedar carefully, monitoring every flick of his eyes and twitch of his hands. The way his breath increased whenever he heard voices travelling from upstairs. He was anxious, Lily figured that out pretty quickly, but also scared. Of what? She wasn't sure.

"I need the truth, Cedar." Lily stated simply, placing down her fork.

He hesitated, mouth pursing before he took a bite of his own pancakes, wiping his mouth before speaking, "They want something they can't have, Lily," he said in a hushed tone, "something I know you'd be damned before ever giving up."

"What is it?" She questioned, shrugging her shoulders, "Hunter? Because I'll take them on myself before any of you lay a hand on him."

"Any of us? You think so low of me, Lil?"

"I do," she stated harshly, voice shaking, "I do Cedar. Rose does too. So does Hunter. So does James."

"So your boyfriend's opinion on me means more than everything we've been through?" He scoffed, pushing his plate away.

Lily watched intently. Everything was going as Bucky had instructed her. He wanted her to rile him up, get his emotions going to reveal something they didn't know before. It hurt her, it destroyed her, but she knew he was right. She knew that the man before her was not her brother, but someone else wearing his skin. Maybe had his heart, but not his soul. This was someone who had been corrupted into something far more extreme than he realized. His actions put so many people in danger, and in harm's way, including Lily, and her son.

"What we've been through?" Lily chucked, shaking her head, "No. No Cedar this isn't about what we've been through. This is about what you aren't realizing. I hold James' opinion higher because he was there to put things into perspective for me when you, mom, and dad, were off doing your little experiments."

"This has nothing to do with him." Cedar stated simply, shrugging his shoulders in a menacing mockery of Lily.

"This has everything to do with him. He is my family now Cedar," Lily sneered, "And you have decided to mess with my family. You stopped being family when you tried to hurt my son."

"Oh my god, this has nothing to do with Scott's either!" Cedar exclaimed, standing to his feet and pushing the chair away.

"Why were you there, Cedar?" Lily asked, her voice as calm as a river after a storm.

"Can we not do this-"

"Why were you there?"

"You can't be serious right now, Lily!"

"Answer me!"

"TO GET HUNTER!" Cedar exploded, flipping the plate off the table, causing Lily to jump away out of instinct, "AND TO GET YOU! TO BRING YOU HOME! SO YOU COULD BE LIKE US!"

Lily stared at the man, analyzing the words of his confession. Her heart raced and chest was rising and falling at a rate that showed she was close to tears. Her lips quivered and eyes were wide. She knew he didn't mean their actual home. She didn't know where he meant. But it wasn't the calm, two story, eco friendly home in Long Island. It was where this new Cedar had been made. Because her parents were going to start with their own family. Make them new, and make them into the icons that the world "needed".

"Well that was quite the show." Tony's voice echoed as he stepped into the lab, "Glad to know Cyborg doesn't just have old gears in his head." The man quipped, turning his attention to Cedar, "C'mon. Don't make this arrest harder than it already will be."

Cedar's eyes dropped down to Lily, who was shaking slightly in her seat. Her own eyes dropped down to the broken plate on the floor, her mind racing as memories resurfaced. The feeling of betrayal sat heavy in her stomach, and she knew that it was her own doing. She should have fought harder for him. Made him confess that he was being manipulated or controlled. Anything to prove that what Cedar was doing was not his true intent, not his true wishes. But she knew that it was, all from the heavy breathing escaping from his mouth as he sneered down at his sister. The way he looked at her, that of disgust and hurt. She could only imagine what her own looked like.

"You've become a coward, Lily." He spat, before turning towards Tony.

Two hours later, Lily sat in her bed with the blankets pulled tightly up to her chin. Tears ceased to fall from her cheeks, seemingly having run out. Her body shook as the dry heaving took over her quiet sobs. No one dared ask to talk, not even Rose. Steve tried at first, and earned a pillow being thrown at him by the broken woman. Her hands were numb and aching from the grip she held on the blankets, trying to hide away from the world. She hated herself for what she did, despite it being the right thing.

The sound of a helicopter or plane above the compound set Lily's heart off into a frenzy. Either someone was visiting, or Bucky was coming home. With Cedar's confession and evidence of DNA altering from Tony and Bruce's tests, she could only assume that they had enough to convict her parents of whatever. But she didn't move from her spot. She couldn't. She didn't want to see him. She didn't want to face the truth of what happened. What she did. She betrayed her own family. But most of all, she failed.

She raised Cedar. She cooked for him, bathed him, did everything for him. She swore to protect him at all costs. Keep him safe from all the dangers of the world, just as she had sworn to Hunter. Instead, she let him fall into the hands of her parents. Those same parents she came to realize were the farthest thing from that. They provided food, and a shelter, sure, but they weren't parents. They never cared for Lily, they never cared for Rose, and all they ever did to Cedar was us him. Convince him of things she knew for a fact weren't true. Maybe that's why he went to them. Trying to fill that hole of not having them as a child.

He was her brother. And she said he wasn't even family anymore.

Her eyes lifted as her bedroom door opened, the face of her son popping around with sad eyes. Lily immediately released the blankets and wiped her eyes, opening her arms to Hunter as he walked forward. When he climbed onto the bed, Lily gave a weak and clearly forced smile. She knew he could see through it, but she figured any sense of comfort that he could get, would help in the times he was experiencing. Hunter sat across from her with his legs crossed, mirroring her own position.

"Uncle Cedar is getting arrested," he whispered, voice barely louder than the wind.

"I know," Lily whispered, nodding slowly as she pursed her lips, "They won't try to hurt us anymore. Ever. I promise."

Hunter wiped his eyes as he crawled into his mom's arms, curling into her shoulder as his warm tears dropped onto her collarbone. The world fell away as she listened to his heavy breathing. Her fingers ran soothing circles down his back, her own pain putting itself on the backburner. Hunter was her main priority right now. It didn't matter what she said, what she did, as long as Hunter was in her arms. He was safe, healthy, and with her. No one out there trying to hurt him or get to him anymore. Because she sacrificed what she needed to.

Maybe more than she intended to.

"Can't you give them a bit?" a hushed voice echoed from outside of her room, "She's been crying for two hours." Steve continued, his voice growing closer as boots tapped on the ground.

"Steve, that is the woman he loves in there," Sam retorted back, "I need to tell her. We also need to talk about her parents' arrest."

"She just helped have her parents and brother arrested, don't you think she deserves a few minutes alone with her son?"

Silence fell. No one breathed, no one spoke. The only noise was the soft cries from the boy Lily held in her arms. Her own heart seemed to cease from beating as the familiar voice of Sam replayed through her head. Something happened. Something terrible happened. Lily didn't want to hear it. She didn't want to know. Whatever Bucky did, she knew it wasn't good. Whether it was sacrificing himself, or forcing Sam to leave. But she figured out pretty quickly he didn't arrive home with Sam. Which only scared her more.

The creak of the door handle set Lily's heart in motion once more. Sam's face poked around, a large bruise on his eye and gash across his cheek.

"Where is he?" She croaked.

Arrested. Her parents were arrested. And she was at her wits end. She couldn't do it. So when Sam told her he didn't know where he was, Lily snapped. She packed everything, put Hunter, Rose, and Joey in the car and was gone. No one tried to stop her. No one tried to get her to stay. They knew there was nothing they could have said. Lily Osborne was sick and tired of being caught up in the Avengers.

She couldn't do it.

No one spoke. Not a word was exchanged as Lily drove back down to the small home she missed. It was enough. But when she turned the corner, a car stuck out to her. One in her driveway she never saw really. She'd seen it, but she and him never used it. They used her car primarily. But her blood boiled as she pulled in and stormed into the house.

There he was, bruised and battered, sitting on her couch.

"Rose," Lily called back, "Take Hunter to Gen's."

Bucky's face fell as he listened to her words. Dread took over his face and Lily slammed the door, her face hard and aggressive. The anger she always hid away fought its way to the surface as he stayed sitting. Neither spoke, neither breathed. The only noise was the air conditioner that warmed the house around them.

"Hi Doll."

"Do not call me that," Lily exclaimed, slamming her keys down and walking across to the living room, "You do not speak right now. You sit, and listen. Because I have had enough, James."

And he did as told. He readjusted in his seat and waited for the hell that Lily was about to unleash.

"You have roped my family into something," she snapped, "I'm tired. I'm so tired. I am so tired Bucky."

"I kno-"

"No! No Bucky you don't know!" She exclaimed, tugging at her hair, "You made a promise to me. You promised me you would keep us out of danger. And here we are, after two weeks of sitting in an Avengers Compound because we were in danger."

"Lily please-"

"No I'm not done talking," she retorted, eyes bearing down into him, "I felt so sick these past weeks. Not knowing where you are, what you're doing. If you're alive! I sat in my bed like the dotting wife who was waiting for you. But for the love of GOD Bucky I can't keep doing that!"

"Lily I'm retiring."

"No don't do that," Lily whispered, tears rolling down her face, "Because you know that's not true. You will say you're done and they will rope you right back in."

"Lily- "

"Get out. Get out Bucky. I'm tired. I'm done."

the portrayal of his inner conflict was so fucking good the scene where he watches Amora drain Rachel what’s-her-name UGH

even when he makes the claim that he’s “decided to be evil” or whatever, he’s still unsure of it. he’s choosing the narrative because he believes he has to. he sees his character flaws, he knows that he is capable of becoming the god of mischief written in the mythology, but he always hesitates. when Amora kills Mrs. Sharp, he bites his tongue, but he’s clearly conflicted. he knows what he’s supposed to be, but he still has a faint hope that he doesn’t have to become that person. we see this in the MCU mainly through Tom Hiddleston’s acting choices (and the occasional well-placed bit of dialogue), but it’s lovely to read it so clearly.

he disdains humans SO much at the beginning but he really does grow to enjoy their company and I think it’s Fun and Spicy that he learns some level of empathy for them even if it’s reluctant

I also just loved reading a story that was really wholly his. compared with other Loki content, Thor barely appears in the book. a key component of Loki’s character is comparing himself to thor, true, but allowing him to exist outside of the sphere of Asgardian influence (read: constantly being compared to his older brother) really gave his character a chance to flourish.

the transition from desperately wanting to paint himself as the hero to confessing his theft of the stones ENDED me ugh

swallowing his pride at the beginning because of how Odin would react to defiance vs. throwing caution to the wind and full on SCREAMING at his father at the end??? show stopping. ethereal. magnificent.

this book made me forget about Infinity War and I thank god for that every day

I could probably write another several thousand words about this book but in conclusion, Loki is genderfluid and pansexual, he deserves a soft gay engineer boyfriend, and every piece of MCU content needs to be remade with him in stiletto boots as god intended

so

I’ll try to make it brief but you’ve gotta keep this stuff in mind:

this show went on... at least six years longer than it should have like post s8 it was obvious they were trying to cobble ideas together to air something and by s12 it jumped the shark to a level where it was just ridiculous, so basically everything that’s happened since more or less around then was filler to keep the breathing machine on until the cw laid it to rest

the whole deancas thing came out in a context where... right guys i’ve been there since SEASON THREE WAS AIRING I REMEMBER SHIT so let me tell you that basically until cas was introduced the only fandom ships with a traction were pretty much different declinations of win/cest with the j2 rpf stuff taking like... 99% and 99% of fps and rpf respectively because there was literally no other main and like... not everyone was gonna be into sibling/parental incest or rpf obviously but anyway when castiel showed up basically deancas was the only other m/m ship that actually wasn’t incest floating around and it went big very very soon

now, they had planned to keep cas around as a guest for like some ten eps and then he should have been replaced with another angel character who basically was a human woman who realized she actually was a fallen angel and cas should have died in like s4 ep 10 and anna (the other char) should have been dean’s guide into stopping the apocalypse except that the writers realized castiel was very well-received and the ratings spiked up so they went like QUICK QUICK SWITCH didn’t kill him off and basically gave him the part anna was supposed to have

now now, dean and anna fucked in part two of her two-parter introduction arc lmao or was it even part one but anyway she was supposed to be a love interest and they thought S5 would have been the last so you do your math

then: they’re at S15 and obviously they didn’t go there but

spn fandom also is like... toxicity™ incarnated like before voltron and su there was spn fandom, all the sides were terrible, the side that harassed the actors was worse and like.... sadly a bunch of exclusively j2 people who did harass the actors were also preminent winc/esters and put money into cons and there was a whole circus I can’t even begin getting into but like basically the least dramatic thing that could happen was that the cw would release pictures of dean and cas on their own for promotional reasons and the smm would get a bunch of verbal abuse tweets BECAUSE WHERE IS SAM YOU LOST THE SPIRIT OF THE SHOW

also there were campaigns to fire misha which almost worked for s7 then they saw the ratings dropped when he left and QUICK QUICK LET’S RESUSCITATE HIM lmao

also jensen always was like nah dean’s straight I act like they’re friends but he’s also the guy whose wife got continuously harassed by people who thought she was a cover for his secret rship with jared and so on and like he obviously thinks all shippers are out of control and honestly I can’t even blame him for it since from what I gather some ppl started trailing his kids after school I DON’T KNOW but that’s that

on the other side misha never made a mystery that he played it like cas was in love with dean like he said it at cons pretty much and like..... regardless of everything if there’s one thing misha collins wouldn’t do is milking it for clout bc honestly the guy is a solid ally and has a bi wife/used to be in a poly rship and always put his money where his mouth was re lgbt support so there’s that too

now... back in 2011 and s8 where there was a scene that was the exact EXACT same shit that happened when they canonized my marvel comics #1 ship (like srsly except the marvel ship kissed at the end of that scene) I went like ‘okay they know the undertones they’re obviously marching on it but seeing how this show is and how the fanbase is if it ever goes canon either it’s one sided or it ends with sam becoming a research guru and dean and cas drive off in the sunset hunting monsters without actually saying it out loud’ and it would have been like... soft-not-quite-there canonization but regardless I also said if that ever happens it’s gonna be in the last fifteen minutes of the finale because they don’t want the fandom drama to actually hit them in the face and how to put it, the writing has been a joke for seasons but I can’t even...... blame them for it bc honestly I was tired of fandom drama in S7 imagine working on that since 2005

so like I’m 100% not surprised that whatever’s going down is going down when it’s three episodes from the end actually I’m surprised it didn’t happen in the last ten minutes

now: if cas tells dean openly that he loves him and the context is that he got a curse that sends him to hell if he loves someone (idk I didn’t check the specifics BUT) then it is at least one-sided canon black on white and you can’t say they didn’t make it canon

if he goes to hell and he stays there and that’s it... that’s homophobic and bad and they could have just queerbaited their way through it

except that in this dumb show everyone went to hell twice and came back and cas was introduced as having saved dean from it bodily, so like... if this was a well-written show and they weren’t cowards they’d have dean doing the same for him and realizing he reciprocates getting over his 30+ years of emotional constipation and in that case... wouldn’t be qb

now I’m not betting money on that but they also did this... three eps before the end which sets them up to do it actually so I DON’T KNOW but before deciding it’s homophobic as a whole I’d see how it plays out also bc again this was nEVER gonna happen before the end but the fact that the end kept on being pushed and it wasn’t like... nine seasons but fifteen just made it look ridiculous and like it took them years to get there when if they had been axed in S10 when it would have been merciful.... maybe it wouldn’t have been

so like... either way I wanna see how it plays out but as stated, called in 2011 it could have gone like this the moment we got in the final stretch :)))

anyway: it’s confirmed canon on one side so it’s canon imvho

wandavision / mcu phase 4 speculation

going under the tag for potential spoilers, but now that we are a few episodes into wandavision - which is supposed to kick off phase 4 and impact a lot of the upcoming films - i wanted to give my prediction for what might happen

in wandavision we watch wanda have the life she wants, with the man she loves, her two children, and hopefully - if we’re lucky - a well kept secret of an uncle pietro return. i’m still optimistic for that due to plenty of actors/actresses saying they had nothing to do with a project/marvel studios only for them to actually be working with them (tatiana maslany as she hulk is the most recent example!). so the fact that ATJ hasn’t confirmed or said anything could just be marvel keeping a tight lid on things. we know they sometimes don’t even tell their actors what type of scene they are filming. i also don’t think evan peters pietro will replace him, because it just doesn’t make sense. that isn’t her brother. she wouldn’t recognize him or have an emotional connection to him, and vice versa. i think evan peters will play a different role. but that’s a whole other tangent i could spend too much time on because i have a lot of thoughts about it.

ANYWAY all to say, i think we are going to continue to see her building this life that she wants. i don’t know if she is in 100% control or if someone is doing this to her, but either way, i think the series will end with her losing it all. vision, her brother (if he’s there), and her boys. 

or so we think.

i believe the tie in to dr strange is going to involve wanda looking for them across the multiverse - either with his help or he needs to catch up with her to stop her from breaking a fragile reality. i hope it’s not a “she’s crazy now / wanda is a villain now” arc, just a woman who has lost everything over and over again and now - knowing the full extent of her powers - is determined to get it back.

this will lead to a billy kaplan / tommy shepherd reveal. it could even be cool if the wandavision end credits was a high school setting of one or both of them just living normal lives. i don’t think it’s too out of reason to follow the idea that her boys were reborn/reincarnated or just adopted in the 2000s following the break down of her little pocket reality, making them teens in the present. plus then we would get the kaplan family (aka the best family) and (fingers crossed, marvel) the canonicity of billy being jewish. 

we also know that america chavez is going to appear in dr. strange 2. i think this is pretty significant not only for the YA connection but also because america and billy in particular have a big connection in the comics. he - in the future as the demiurge - basically creates her homeworld/her people (if i recall). what if she can help find the twins? she can hop across realities, she has a connection to one of them, and in the comics she is also looking for billy. so maybe that will be how they all cross paths with each other.

my theory is that dr strange 2 will not only be about wanda searching for/finding her boys across the multiverse and the consequences of that, but we’ll also get the beginnings of billy being the next sorcerer supreme meant to take over after dr strange. it would make sense that that sort of reveal would be in a dr strange movie. so cue a mentorship type of deal between billy and stephen that we might see expand in future films, that mirrors the kate/hawkeye relationship (and hopefully others). which will make what my theory about what the 5th avengers movie will be more emotionally impactful.

so by then you hopefully have billy, tommy, and america together. i believe kate will have already been released in her show, and cassie already exists and we know has been recasted, and - if rumors are true - we could also have a teddy and an eli by then as well. nate is probably going to appear since we have a confirmed kang but who knows when that reveal will happen.

all this to say. i believe that mcu phase 4 is essentially going to have this through line between the shows/films about gathering and bringing together the young avengers. wandavision kicks it off. i think avengers 5 (which kevin feige i believe confirmed will eventually happen? probably in phase 5) will be a young avengers movie. centered on the nate richards/kang reveal and conflict that occurs between the team, future kang, and the other heroes that are trying to stop him. give me the conflict between the YA and the adult heroes over what is right in this scenario! especially the shift for these kids going from “these are my heroes and my idols” to “no you’re wrong and i’m going to fight you over it”. i would like to see it!

alternatively, a young avengers disney plus show is they are cowards over a canonically mostly lgbt superhero team taking the spotlight but let me dream.

like it makes sense narratively as well. we can assume that after endgame, the avengers have sort of disbanded. or at the very least aren’t a defined team. tony, steve, thor, and natasha are either dead or gone. the world of heroes is shifting and expanding, and how cool would it be for the next avengers team to be a bunch of kids who are doing it out of the belief that someone has to, and if the adults won’t figure it out, they will.

I have an absolute ton of cephalopods that I wanted to put in but wasn’t able to! Like the mimic octopus, or dumbo octopus, or cuttlefish? I love them all so much but I just couldn’t find a place for them. ALSO SEA OTTERS. I really wanted sea otters. :c That said, a few of my favourite sea creatures I was able to base sirens off of! Like the firefly squid, a speckled flying fish, a leafy sea dragon, several betta fish, and a sailfish!

I think Dione fits both the first and second question! She definitely keeps a whole lotta secrets, and mostly because one: she’s scared of what will happen if the truth gets out, and two: she’s protecting others from the truth! The reason she’s OP? She’s just. A heckin’ powerful three centuries old sea witch.

And Xuân’s favourite snack is munching on dried nori! I personally love this salty snack so much and if I can get my hands on it, it’ll disappear in less than a minute.

Ohh!! I have a bunch of strong associations but a lot of them are spoilers, because I LOVE foreshadowing through symbolism! Let’s just say... storms play an important role for Celestine~

Favourite weather conditions! Celestine: Dry as a desert - Dione: Gentle snow - Caelin: Light rain that he can run around in - Phoenix: Clear night, somewhat cool, perfect for a bonfire

And original inspiration? I mean... I was obsessed with pirate and adventure stories for a while there... PoTC, Our Bloody Pearl, Treasure Planet? Plus then there was all the ocean stuff I was doing in biology at the time. ^^

But if Celestine had a doppelgänger: she would likely convince everyone it’s her by insulting people with the unique insult-nicknames she has for everyone. XD For example: she only ever calls Phoenix “idiot”! Poor Nixi. And Celestine’s favourite dish of all time is PANCAKES.

My first attempt at a major novel that actually got anywhere was Soul Tied! It was about shapeshifters and dragons and the chosen one trope, but with twins! Mainly, I never really had an idea of where the story was going to go, and my outlining skills sucked at that stage.
