Y/N Y/L/N had only two stable things in her life: Formula 1 and her relationship with Mark Webber… or, at least, that’s what she thought.  

Despite having a father battling worsening pancreatic cancer, two younger sisters to care for (even with the help of their uncles), and the constant pressure of standing out in a male-dominated world, the girl was always ready to put others before herself. That’s why when Sebastian Vettel, whom she considered her best friend ever since she joined Toro Rosso as an intern in 2008, unexpectedly broke up with Hanna Prater, his girlfriend of over three years, Y/N didn’t hesitate to invite the German to spend the first days of 2010 with her since she wanted to help him clear his mind and, above all, give him the support he deserved.  

However, Y/L/N’s imperfect fairy tale turned into a real nightmare when Webber was caught off guard hearing his teammate’s voice in the background during a phone call with her.  

From that moment on, Mark’s insecurity spiraled into overwhelming jealousy. Sarcastic remarks, veiled insults disguised as criticism, constant questioning, and demands to push Vettel aside from her life made Y/N convince herself that it wasn’t her boyfriend, 12 years older, manipulating her, but rather his desperation to hold onto her love and avoid losing her. Sebastian, on the other hand, was fully aware that that wasn’t love and that Y/L/N was slowly dimming, no matter how much she tried to prove otherwise and reassure him that everything was fine, just a small rough patch in their relationship.

One night, left completely alone and, once again, let down by Webber’s empty promises, and with a drunk Sebastian who kissed and confessed her she wasn’t his ex, and never would be her, Y/N Y/L/N realized that, perhaps, she had always wanted something more than just a friendship with Red Bull's golden boy, but she had simply chosen to accept the love she thought she deserved, even if that meant to never lose the sunshine of her life.

As teammates, you and Sebastian were thrilled to be racing together at the highest level. But as the season progressed, tensions began to rise. Competitive instincts clashed with personal loyalties, and soon, your friendship was strained.

After a few races, tragedy struck. In a moment of miscommunication on the track, you and Sebastian collided, sending both of you spinning off into the gravel trap. The aftermath was tense, emotions running high as blame was exchanged.

"What were you thinking? You cut across me!" Sebastian's voice was filled with frustration as he confronted you in the garage.

"I can't believe you let me down out there," Sebastian muttered bitterly after a particularly disappointing race.

"I'm not the one who's been making mistakes lately," you retorted, unable to hide your own frustration.

The Experiment ~ Mark Sloan x Male Reader

An old memory comes back to 'haunt' Dr Sloan word count: 1k m!reader (no genitalia mentioned) / FDNI

He didn't expect to ever see you again

But there you were... Walking into Seattle Grace and talking to Chief Webber

"Mark! Are you even listening to me?" Derek snaps his fingers at his friend, but that didn't break Mark's stare

He watched you attentively as you walked towards him and Derek with the Chief; head empty-no thoughts, except that at the same time, many different thoughts ran through Mark's brain!

"Shepherd, Sloan, this is Dr (L/n). Make sure you get on his good side as he is now our new ENT Attending" The chief introduces you

"Derek Shepherd" the handsome man says, shaking your hand and giving you a smile

"(Y/n) (L/n), pleasure to meet you~" you say, smiling with a warm tone in your voice

A silence fell as Mark failed to introduce himself, still just looking at you

"Sloan!" The chief says, nudging the attractive male out of his trance

"This is Mar-" Derek starts but you cut him off quickly

"Mark Sloan, I know~ We went to med school together" you say with a chuckle and gesture to Richard that you two should go finish up paper work

However, you make sure to give a small wink to Mark as you walk past

"Cause I barely knew him. I have a surgery to get to." The muscular man says and leaves his friend in the hallway

The truth was that not only were you and Sloan in Med school together, but you two also experimented together

"Dr Sloan! Perfect timing, I was just introducing Dr (L/n) to your patient" Yang explained as Sloan's resident on the case, which you had now joined

"Dr (L/n)?" Sloan questioned

"Yes Dr Sloan, you are reconstructing this young woman's ears, so I will be needed for this surgery" you say with a smile and return to the patient

During the whole explanation to the patient, Mark looked at you and thousands of thoughts rushed through his head

Could you do that for me?" You ask in a tone which sounded as if you were gentle-parenting the plastic surgeon, giggling at the man's slow nod

"Sure, but we need to talk later" Sloan mumbles

"Talk? About what? I remember you were the one that stormed out of my apartment half naked shouting "I'm not a homo"?" You say with a cold face, a small raise of your eyebrow and squint of your eye emphasising your point and leaving the plastic surgeon slightly speechless

At lunch, you were the most popular attending, like a steak thrown to hungry lions, everyone wanted to get to know you, befriend you or bed you

"So why become an ENT?" Arizona asks

"More importantly, are you single?" Another attending asks

"Leave the man alone... where did you study?" Asks Bailey

Sloan was left standing with an apple in his hand as the table was crowded with attendings and residents, especially ones with interests in your specialty

"Oh! Mark!" Dr Torez calls the man-slag over, making the smile on your face fade for a second

"Excuse me, I just need to go check on a patient" you say, getting up from the table and walking off

But Sloan followed you...

Next thing you know, you're in a supply closet with your ex hook-up/fuck buddy/boyfriend/whatever

"What the hell, Mark??" You kinda shout, your hand rubbing your head as you had knocked it into a shelf

"Just give me 5 minuets to explain myself, (Y/n)! Please" Mark begs, his tall figure looming above you as his chest presses against yours

"Fine, but that's all you get" you say with a pissed off look

And so he started

By the end of it, the tall man had a tear in his eye and a thin blush on his face; you felt pretty bad for him, and guilty for being a bitch to him earlier

"Mark... I'm sorry for being such a dick" you say, hugging him, your head resting against his huge chest; a feeling so vaguely familiar

"No, I'm sorry (Y/n)"

"Turn a new leaf?" You say with that warm smile which Mark had fallen for back in college

"Sure, sweetcheeks" Mark responds with the nickname he used to call you

Hi, it's me the lore dump anon again lol. I'd like to mention that my favourite is the attempt at a driver hybrid character is a Mark Webber/Daniel Ricciardo hybrid. (Unfortunately I can't pull the title/series off the top of my head since I only read the previews.) Overall, the writing is exactly like what @sebaston-vettel described it as. It's a rinse and repeat of every alpha male and their sassy, quippish lined MC. She hates him, he hates her, but they fuck and somehow he becomes less of an asshole but still internally hates women. (But not HIS woman of course- he can tolerate her 🤮) I mean the real draw of them is the same reason we like most of the fics we read, the sneaky paddock sex, forbidden romances due to sports politics, and hot men. We’re all the same.

I've also learned from my brother's friend that apparently thirst trap tiktok is very big on F1 drivers. Even though she doesn't follow F1, she glanced over at my phone and said "oh it's Charles!"

Also fun fact on the note of Scotsmen as someone who’s fallen victim to reading erotica: The scottsmen/highlander subgenre is one of the most popular, arguably being more popular than vampires and cowboys. It boasts the Outlander series which is one of the genre’s most well known/liked and longest running series dating back to 1991. It's even been adapted into a TV series that's still ongoing as well.
