Mario Misconceptions: Baby Bowser, Bowser Jr., and Koopa Kid
This will be a new series where I discuss common misconceptions in the Mario franchise! This time I'm talking about the still very common idea of Bowser Jr. being the same entity as Baby Bowser, as well as the Koopa Kid from Mario Party causing confusion relating to these two.
Now, most seasoned Mario fans will know the difference between the two, but I will clear up any misconceptions here, with images provided, as the designs are often one of the main reasons people get confused.
In short, "Baby Bowser" is Bowser as a young koopa in the past, and "Bowser Jr." is Bowser's son in the current day and age.
Here you can see the differences between them. Note that in older depictions of Baby Bowser, he isn't wearing a bandana, meanwhile Bowser Jr. always wears one, showing the obvious differences in their design. Confusingly, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time depicts Baby Bowser with a white (albeit featureless) bandana. This design alone is most likely the main reason so many have confused the two, since Bowser Jr. wears a similar bandana. However, Bowser Jr.'s bandana always features a face of some sort, whereas Bowser's bandana as a child has nothing drawn onto it.
Finally, I want to mention the "Koopa Kid" from the Mario Party series. Introduced in the first game in the series "Mario Party", they act as helpers to Bowser during the games.
They appear similar to Bowser, but only younger, leading some to think the main Koopa Kid (featured on the left in the image above) was either his past self, or alternatively his son, thinking it was merely an early design of Bowser Junior. The name of the Koopa Kid in some instances is actually "Baby Bowser", causing much of the confusion. They are still called "Koopa Kids" almost everywhere else, however.
While it's almost certainly confirmed that none of them are Bowser Jr. or Bowser himself, it is still unknown whether not they are related to Bowser in some form, if at all. The Super Mario Wiki mentions more specific details of this topic in the image below:
As one can see, the game's dialogue and naming has caused a large amount of the confusion. Koopa Kid's nature seems to imply they may either be split off from Bowser, like a copy of some kind, or simply just his son.
The main Koopa Kid's ability to split into three beings (featured on the right of the Koopa Kid image) as shown in Mario Party 5 may possibly imply the original's origin to be Bowser's copy. His Japanese description being 「クッパさまのぶんしん」 seems to partially support this theory, as 「分身」 can mean "one's other self" as shown in the wiki screenshot. None of this is 100% confirmed however, and is simply speculation on my part.
Koopa Kids as a whole have since stopped making appearances in games, most likely due to the redundancy of now having Bowser Jr. existing as the "Bowser's young helper" role. This is shown by the fact that any remakes of old minigames featuring them now replace them with Bowser Jr. instead. They may also have stopped appearing to not cause further confusion on this subject.
One final thing: "Koopa Kids" is a phrase that many official sources call the Koopalings, but this is largely phased out and is mostly used in the older media, although still used in other languages today. The Koopalings are not confirmed to be related to the Koopa Kids from Mario Party, despite the similar naming in some places.
I think that's all I really have to say on this topic, so I hope this cleared up any misconceptions on these characters and their relationships with one another! Thanks for reading.

Did...did Rosalina make Rainbow Road?
OK so Super Mario Party Jamboree is the newest Mario Party game (at the time of this post releasing) and there are these character-themed minigames called Showdown Minigames. Rosalina's one of the 10 characters who has one, it's called Rosalina's Radical Race, and the first section involves snowboarding, nothing too weird. But then there's the second portion of the minigame, and UH-
DID SHE MAKE THE MOST ICONIC MARIO KART COURSE IN HISTORY?
I mean...it certainly looks like it!
They even play what I'm pretty sure are four notes from Rainbow Road's first theme (sped up) once the players reach the second part of the race.
I saw someone else in the comment section of a now deleted video (Nintendo works fast) claim that the music at the start of the snowboarding portion of Rosalina's Radical Race sounds like the music for Double Dash's Rainbow Road. I didn't catch that on my first listen (I've never played Double Dash, alright?) Look up the clip if you're interested, do you hear it?
But anyway, back to the lore implications.
You know, this makes some things retroactively make a lot more sense, like her reveal trailer for Smash taking place on Rainbow Road:
Even going all the way back to Mario Kart Wii, it would explain its version of Rainbow Road being heavily influenced by Super Mario Galaxy (other than, you know, cross-promotional synergy). It has Star Bits, a Launch Star cannon, both its course staff ghosts use Rosalina, it uses Good Egg Galaxy's theme as a countermelody underneath its own main melody, etc.:
So has Rainbow Road just...ALWAYS been hers? This whole time?
She did that?
That was her?
If so...
Iconic. I have no notes.
#rosalina#super mario party jamboree#super mario#rainbow road#mario kart#mario party#mario kart wii#super smash bros#super smash bros for wii u#nintendo#Rosalina lore? In MY Mario Party? It's more likely than you thi-hey wait didn't I already do this joke?#as a kid I briefly thought Rainbow Road was a Rosalina course because I didn't know there were other Rainbow Roads before Mario Kart Wii 😅#so with the Galaxy theme I just thought “OH this must be Rosalina's”#of course I found out more about the series and learned that Rainbow Road predates Rosalina#but if super mario party jamboree is implying what I think it's implying...#it's honestly satisfying to see a childhood...misconception? ...headcanon? whatever it feels kinda vindicating to see it possibly confirmed

still insane the amount of takes i see in the year 2024 where people are genuinely mad about the ending of super mario odyssey because they think princess peach "owes" mario romantic reciprocation and marriage. are you people ok
#mate i dont give a FUCK that he went to the moon or whatever to save her. if she doesnt wanna marry him that's in her damn right#why are you mad that your silly little cartoon player character doesnt get a wife as a reward#does princess peach have to marry cappy too.#'oh but she abandons mario on the moon' common misconception! she does not#she shouts out to him 'let's go home!' and is presumably taking off in the ship so bowser doesnt follow them#even if she did tho that would be funny and unserious. he can do outer space hitchhiking it's fine

Annoying ways that people view the Mario series and characters Part 2
I think perhaps the biggest misconception that really irritates me is how "Peach rejects Mario and abandons him on the moon at the end of Mario Odyssey."
Especially because that latter part can be easily proven false if you just watched the ending.
People act as if this is the last frame of that ending—
When it actually ends on Mario making that jump towards the Odyssey—
Peach even calls out to Mario and says, "Let's go home!" It's clear she wasn't planning on abandoning the guy.
Now I can hear you say, "But she takes off so quickly!! Before Mario can even get on!! Why does she do that if she wasn't gonna abandon him, huh????"
I believe Peach's intention was to abandon Bowser, not Mario. If she were to wait until Mario got on the Odyssey, then Bowser would've been able to hop on as well, with him being so close behind.
Peach wanted to avoid that, and she was confident in Mario's abilities to be able to jump onto the ship, especially with the moon's gravity helping him.
Now, in regards to "Peach rejecting Mario", there's a couple of annoying ways people took this.
First, people act as if this is a permanent rejection; that this is it for their relationship. They're not getting together ever, it's done, stop shipping Mario and Peach, yadda yadda.
Y'all, just because Peach got a bit upset at Mario's impulsive actions, that does not mean that Mario and Peach's relationship is ruined.
I'm sure there have been times where y'all got upset at a friend or a significant other, but you guys' relationship stayed intact.
It's the same thing here. Especially given how, as soon as she walked onto the Odyssey, Peach took a deep breath, turned around with a smile, and called out to Mario. It can be easily assumed that there were no hard feelings, and that she was able to forgive him.
Another annoying interpretation is: "Peach is SUCH a bitch for rejecting Mario like that!!! How dare she not devote her entire life to him after all he did!!!"
No. My man screwed up here.
He was impulsive and did not consider the possibility that he might've been overwhelming Peach. It was a presentation of Mario's biggest flaw.
In fact, I think this highlights some insecurity on Mario's end. If he was really so sure of he and Peach's relationship, he wouldn't have freaked out like that. But maybe that's just me.
Point is, Peach is not to blame here. Stop calling her a bitch for standing up for herself; the one thing that people have been wanting her to do for YEARS??
Been realizing just how much unnecessary shit Peach gets from people, my god.

*the smashers are chilling and vibing when Wario comes running into the room*
Wario: HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN WAPEACH?!
Samus: ...Have we seen fucking what?
Wario: WAPEACH! The evil version of Peach!
Link: I thought Daisy was the evil version of Peach.
Daisy, cleaning her shotgun: A common misconception.
Wario: Well, she got out, stabbed Waluigi in the kidney and now she's on the loose!
Ridley: HAH! Loser.
Sephiroth: If you really want our help then- huh-
*Sephiroth collapses. Wapeach stands behind him with a bloody knife. She has stabbed him in the kidney as well*

Misconceptions I had about Super Paper Mario when I was a kid
I played the game as a kid. A wee lad, if you will. I know there is some dialogue that debunks some of it, but I either forgot that stuff or my kid brain completely skipped over it. And when the art style is so geometric, it's not hard to misunderstand the art. Here we go:
I'll start with Dimentio because he's real popular with tumblr. I thought he was a woman
I also thought the ends of his poncho were his arms,
as drawn here.
I thought the text at the end of 4-4 meant that Squirps fucking died (Text squished together so I can fit the pic limit)
But nope! You can find him after completing the game at the end of the Woah Zone
I thought the collar of Bleck's cape was hair
I thought Grambi and Jaydes were divorced💀. Yknow, living seperately, their daughter having to travel between them. You can't blame me, my parents were going through a divorce
I thought Francis' ponytail was like... a bandana end? Or like the tie to a ninja mask? Idk man. I just didn't think it was hair
I thought Merlon's pendant thingy was his mouth. I still can't unsee it💀
I thought Thoreau's "fingers" were his hair and he had an afro. I honestly didn't get that he was hand-shaped
I might add more in the future if I remember more

There is a common misconception that Super Mario Bros. 2 is based on a game called Doki Doki Panic. Don’t be fooled! It is actually based on another game called Super Mario Bros. 1, being a sequel and all.

The term "non-binary" and my relationship with gender
I have used they/them pronouns within my closest circles for around 4 years now. I used to identify as non-binary until, last year, I went through an nth wave of self-discovery regarding my lesbianism, internalized homophobia and gender.
It is not that "non-binary" technically doesn't encompass how i feel about my gender identity. It does. What actually made me estrange my relationship with it, was the lack of understanding that cis people and some fellow trans ppl in the community have of "non-binary" being an umbrella term, as well as ignorance about lesbian gender identity.
Now, "gender non-conforming" actually is more accurate to how i feel in its title, and perhaps, even for the ignorant, it could give an understanding about my lesbianism and rocky relationship with womanhood.
I do not reject womanhood. I am a woman, the world sees me as a woman (when it wants to), and being socialized as one has been and will always be part of me.
Moreover, I am a brown latin woman and a lesbian. I am clearly gender non-conforming to a western society in presentation since my ethnic features are considered "unfeminine" and I will never go the extra mile to conceal them. This, somehow makes it easier for me to be read as androgynous even though I might be wearing the same gym clothing as a fem white woman.
I get the impression that a lot of folks have the misconception of "non-binary" being completely gender-neutral, as if it wasn't 1) and umbrella term, 2) something unique to each person and their lived experiences.
While it's in good faith, some people prefer walking on eggshells when it comes to referring anyone who's not cis, instead of asking, preferrably privately, how we would like to be treated. I have even heard binary trans ppl talk about this. Instances like:
Trans person: "yeah when i was a little boy i loved playing mario kart"
Cis Ally: "you were always a little girl inside!!!!"
Trans person: "its ok i don't mind referring to myself pre-transition this way"
Cis Ally: *brain explodes or worse, they actually overstep*
These are a collection of thoughts and experiences i just put down. I'm not really looking for discourse, I only wanted to express my feelings and hopefully reach anyone who can resonate with them.
In conclusion, while it's well-meaning, I think there's still a lot of misunderstanding around non-cis gender identities, and a lot of people seem to run with meanings or guides they saw on buzzfeed or an HR corporate "diversity!!!" course. To the cis ally, ask comfortably if you are afraid of making a mistake. Listen to us and don't take each experience as universal.

interior design insp/references dubai edition
Just like with Louis's wardrobe in Dubai I feel like there's a lot of misconception about the design of the penthouse and what it's meant to represent. First of all, dark modern was and still is super popular design style amongst the wealthy!! It's a very popular way to style large open spaces (like a penthouse apartment). Light and airy designs are usually intended to reflect more natural light to make your rooms look bigger but when you already have a MASSIVE space that's kind of unnecessary. Also it doesn't need to be said that these are vampires so enhancing natural light with bright wall colors/furniture is utterly irrelevant and quite frankly counterproductive to them. You would rarely see a very dark design in a tiny apartment though, that's why its popular mainly among the super wealthy in their mega penthouses or modernist mansions.
Black furniture also screams lux because it's a PAIN in the ass to maintain like lint, dust, grime, etc gets everywhere constantly so by purchasing black furniture you're pretty much announcing to your guests that you have a maid who cleans for you cause your rich ass sure as hell isn't dusting that shit every day.
While the overall aesthetic of Dubai I would say is highly modern, there are interesting touches that suggest a couple that has collected items through time. In the first screenshot, you see Daniel and Louis sitting in the ultra modern living space while Armand is off to the side at his very mid-century chair, a very early hint that he's maybe from a different time.
Looking at this shot, you can see as many as 4 different design styles in a single frame. The table is clearly ornate traditional, the chair (which looks like rattan or bamboo) is more mid-century/boho and the japanese garden, and finally a little pink modern organic henri dejeant lamp. It's such a perfect representation of how long Loumand have been alive and together cause its normal for couples to accumulate different pieces over the course of their lives together and try to fit them in even though they don't exactly match the current designs. But this is what happens when you've been together for 75 years!
It's also interesting to see how the design choices of the penthouse evolved because an earlier visualization had a green mario bellini couch instead of a dark grey/black. The bellini couch was a 70's design that made a huge comeback in the last couple years, which is like the WHOLE 2nd interview like someone from the 70s who has entered the picture again after a long absence. However, I bet they probably pulled back on the bellini couch cause it was becoming overdone although it is still mega expensive (comes in at around $20k) but it's kind of become one of those ughh not that shit again kind of item.

Been seein some rather cold takes about Daisy lately…
I’ve seen some people say that she has no personality outside of fanon, but that’s just not true. There is a very very common misconception among the fandom (at least that I’ve noticed) that if a character doesn’t appear in a “mainline” game, then they have no personality. But I’d argue that the spinoffs actually offer waaaaay more in terms of looking into character personalities. And no, I’m not talking about the RPGs ala M&L and Paper Mario as those are obviously full of personality (and Daisy isn’t in those). I’m talking about the Party, Kart, Tennis, and other sports games.
Yes, Daisy hasn’t appeared in any mainline game since her debut, but she’s been in nearly every sports game and her traits, stats, abilities, victory/loss animations, and various other tiny details add up to her personality. The fact that she’s nearly always yelling or just speaking really loud in general (noticeably more than any other character), the fact that she constantly feels a need to say her name and make herself known, how she loves flowers and considers even a small patch of flowers worth protecting, how she’s easily bored by tasks that don’t excite her and isn’t so reliable for them. She tends to jump around a lot, and spin and dance around when she’s excited! She’s apparently a rather fast runner and that is considered her specialty! These are all traits that are displayed in the spinoffs, and there’s probably soooo many more that I just can’t remember right now.
Now, I do think her tomboyish nature is probably fanon, as I don’t really remember seeing anything to show that she acts that way in the games. I think people probably think she’s tomboyish due to how loud and energetic she is. But hey, there’s plenty of fanon for just about any character from any fandom out there. And what’s so wrong with that? Isn’t the whole point of making fanworks to expand on the framework already provided by canon? If we want to stick to what’s actually “canon” then nearly everything the fandom has created would have to be tossed, because there really isn’t much to work with. Fanworks and fandoms thrive on what fans can create based on the canon work, not just sticking to it perfectly.
It’s fine if you think the “fanon” Daisy outshines the “canon” Daisy and you dislike that. But to say that she has no personality aside from fanon interpretations just tells me that you have a very narrow idea of what counts as “canon” in an already rather simplistic world. The Mario games are very simple and straightforward without much consistent lore that actually makes sense cohesively, but the characters are what keep everything tied together despite that. The characters are nearly always consistent, and that includes Daisy. Even when the setting is completely different and some random new villain shows up with some random new power source to steal or species to torment, our same well-known lovable characters will be the center of the story and that’s what makes it fun!
#devin speaks#super mario bros#princess daisy#i mightve gotten a bit too personal with my views of canon vs fanon but i still think it needs to be said#people who argue over what is considered canon in a video game series are so funny to me#especially a series like mario that has expanded soooo far from its original premise#its different than a show or movie since most shows will finish their main story before delving into spinoffs#most of the mainline games are literally just bowser kidnapped the princess and mario has to save her#very few of them offer any insight to personality of anyone#that isn’t to say theres none at all but i still think the party kart and sports games offer waaay more#of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions and if you dislike daisy or think shes boring then whatever you do you#i am simply sharing my opinion as well :)#sorry time to be salty real quick#literally the entirety of waluigis personality comes from the spin offs but no one talks about him???#he is literally in the same boat as daisy but i never see anyone saying they dislike him for his ‘fanon personality’#really makes you think#people rag on peach for ‘having no personality’ too but hers shines through the spinoffs as well#and even the rpgs!! shes actually in those and has multiple voicelines and cutscenes and people *still* say she has no personality!#i know this is about daisy but gosh mario ladies in general are treated rather poorly unless theyre eye candy#im glad rosie debuted in a mainline game with a clearly given backstory spoon fed to the player so she doesnt get this treatment lol

I'm considering making a Vinesauce Compilation of Vinny and Joel "being the same person" (having similar reactions to things, doing the same thing in certain games, etc.) based on the whole Swedish Vinny/Italian Joel joke + the common misconception/joke that Joel is just Vinny doing a voice, and I would love clip suggestions.
Ideas so far:
Both of them turning Beffica from Bugsnax into a pickle.
Both of them finding the Yoshi face in the Mario Wonder direct funny.
"What do you mean?"
Vinny's Joel Impression.

There was a event for high school students to volunteer in, aiming to enhance their records, particularly for the kids who wanted a higher chance to get into their desired college. The event involved setting up a carnival and assisting elementary students throughout the day. Y/N, one of the students participating, was initially assigned to greet the children and guide them around the carnival. However, her role quickly changed due to an emergency involving a student having to leave the event. Y/N was suddenly entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring everything went smoothly. She had to assign tasks to the volunteers, prevent any mishaps, and find solutions if anything went wrong. Reluctantly, she accepted the role, knowing there was no one else who can take on the role.
As she walked around, Y/N monitored the progress, making sure everything aligned with the plan. Her attention was caught when she spotted Hyunjin, her cousin. She couldn't help but feel surprised to see him volunteering. "Hyunjin? You're here, volunteering at a kid's place?" she exclaimed, needing confirmation. Hyunjin responded, "Well, no shit Sherlock. My grades are terrible, and I need something to help me graduate." He looked at her as if she were the dumbest person alive. Y/N nodded, recalling the incident when Hyunjin unintentionally made a child cry due to his attitude. "But a place where you take care of kids? There were other options available," she remarked, expressing her concern.
Hyunjin shrugged off her comment, stating, "Well, I won't even be interacting with any kids. I'm assigned to this guy," he gestured towards the dog. Y/N raised an eyebrow, studying the list in her hand. "Oh, I see. You're an entertainer! Just make sure the dog doesn't shed any tears before he decides to nip at your fingers," she teased. Hyunjin scoffed, and petted the dog affectionately. "Don't worry your self. I'll be fine." He said causing Y/N to smile. "Okay don't get yourself into too much trouble. I'll be back."
Adjacent to Hyunjin's station stood an exceptionally attractive man whom Y/N had never seen before. He was in charge of the Mario Kart game. She quickly searched the list to find his name, which was revealed as "Park Seonghwa." Confirming his identity, she smiled and said, "Seonghwa, right?" He nodded in response with a small smile. "Alright! Here," she said, retrieving two smaller bags from her carry-on. "Give the kids who win the full-sized candy, and the ones who lose, the medium-sized." Seonghwa took the two bags and then placed it on the table behind him. "Okay. Got you." He said. She then told him she would be back to check up on him.
True to her word, Y/N returned to Seonghwa after thirty minutes, only to be taken aback by the sight before her. Seonghwa was seamlessly managing both the Mario Kart game and the task of entertaining the kids with the help of Bruno, the dog. The dog appeared as if he was falling completely for Seonghwa's charms and obeying his every command. Y/N hurried over to him, her curiosity piqued. She asked where Hyunjin had gone, and Seonghwa replied, "He went to the bathroom."
Realizing that Seonghwa couldn't handle both tasks, Y/N immediately offered her assistance. "Let me help you. It's too much for one person," she insisted. Seonghwa agreed, saying, "Okay, you handle Mario Kart. It turns out I'm better with dogs than I thought." He winked at Y/N, causing a warm, fuzzy feeling to flutter in her stomach.
Y/N guided the children through the Mario Kart game, providing assistance whenever they were confused about its various elements. She gave out the candies to the kids with a sense of joy she had never experienced before. She was happy to see the kids so happy to receive the prizes. Y/N always thought she was terrible with kids, but this day seemed to prove her thinking as a misconception.
The children adored her, their eyes filled with admiration as they gathered around Y/N. Eunhee, one of the girls, couldn't contain her excitement, "Thank you, Y/N! You're so pretty! I hope to be just like you one day." Nodding in agreement, the other kids showered Y/N with compliments.
Y/N smiled as she knelt down to Eunhee's level. "You don't need to be like me, Eunhee. Just be yourself, because you are beautiful just the way you are," she said, her voice filled with encouragement. "That goes for all of you guys too!" Y/N said as she looked at all of the kids surrounding her. Eunhee's face lit up with joy and gratitude. "Thank you so much!" she exclaimed, before happily skipping off with her friends.
Seonghwa, observing the heartfelt interaction smiled to himself. The sight of Y/N uplifting the children's spirits and instilling confidence in them brought easily brought smile to his face.
As the place emptied out and the last child left, Y/N leaned back against the game machine, feeling tired from the excitement of the day. Seonghwa noticed her fatigue and commented, "You did a fantastic job. The kids genuinely adored you." He then began picking up discarded wrappers scattered across the floor.
Y/N smiled gratefully at him. "You were amazing too. Juggling two jobs for fifteen minutes was truly impressive," she complimented, her words bringing a small smile to Seonghwa's face.
"You're beautiful and you're kind. That's truly impressive."
Y/N was taken aback at Seonghwa's compliment. It sounded so genuine that it caused her cheeks were tinted with a red hue. As she processed what he said her voice got stuck in her throat.
Meanwhile, Hyunjin returned from the bathroom only to find Y/N looking up with Seonghwa with "that look" . A mischievous smirk formed on his face as he observed the two. "I wouldn't be surprised if those two ended up together. Look at her face," he whispered to himself as he grinned watching the two engage in conversation afterwards.
Present time:
She ran faster than she had ever before to avoid missing the bus to work. The consequences of missing it would be dire. She dreaded facing her boss's potential anger if she arrived late once again this week. The bus engine started, indicating that she was about to miss it, but luckily, the kind bus driver waited and even opened the door for her. It was a rare act of kindness in bustling New York City, where doors often shut in her face, even when she barely made it on time. This time, however, was different. She scanned her card and found a seat towards the back of the bus. A car would've been such an easy solution to this if Y/N didn't fear the idea of driving. She looked at her phone and saw she had 17 minutes left to reach work, or she would be considered late.
As the bus continued its journey, Y/N stared out the window, sighting people walking on the side walks, stands with people selling varieties of items with clothing and foods, and people even sitting around the benches. As she looked, Y/N couldn't help but notice a crying little boy. He appeared stranded in the middle of the sidewalk, with everyone passing him by without a second thought. Y/N immediately got a bad feeling about leaving the boy there. Y/N sighed heavily, knowing she was unable to leave him there. Glancing at her phone, she realized she had 15 minutes remaining before she had to be at work. Determined, she put her phone away and pressed the button, giving the bus a signal to stop at the next stop. When the bus came to a halt, she quickly ran backward through the crowd, searching for the boy. Thankfully, he was still in the same spot where she had seen him from the bus. Kneeling down to meet his eye level, she asked, "Honey, what's wrong?" The boy looked at her with glistening eyes and replied, "I don't know where my dad went. I don't know where my babysitter is either."
Y/N silently thanked the heavens that she had decided to stop and help the child. He clearly was lost and had no idea what to do.
Giving him a sweet smile Y/N asked him.
"What's your name love?" He then introduced himself as Sunghoon. "Do you have any information about your daddy that could help me find him?" she inquired. The boy shook his head, indicating that he didn't. "I don't want to leave you here. Would you like to come with me to that store over there? Or is that too scary?" she asked. The boy shook his head and pleaded innocently, "I want to go inside, please." Y/N nodded and walked into the grocery store, holding the boy's hand.
As Y/N conversed with one of the store workers, searching for a solution, a man suddenly burst into the store. "Sunghoon?!??" he called out urgently, yet not too loudly. Sunghoon immediately recognized his father's voice and raced towards him. "Daddy!!" he exclaimed, embracing his father tightly. "I'm so sorry! The babysitter's brother is in the hospital and she had to leave baby. Are you okay?!?!" Y/N turned around, her face went into shock as she laid eyes on the man who embraced the child. "Park Seonghwa???!" she questioned, a sense of disbelief washing over her. It was her high school first love, miraculously reentering her life.
Seonghwa was equally astonished to see her, a brilliant smile illuminating his face. "Y/N?? It's been an eternity since I last saw you. How have you been?" he asked, his smile being filled with warmth. "I...I'm doing well!" she responded, realizing that even after almost 9 years, nothing had changed about him. His smile remained as captivating as ever. "Dad!! She's really nice! She was trying to help me find you!" Sunghoon exclaimed. Seonghwa's smile widened even further upon hearing Sunghoon's words. It sparked a memory for Y/N. Curiosity taking hold, she asked, "How did you know the exact location to find us so quickly?" He then revealed the pendant that adorned Sunghoon's necklace. "I installed a tracking device here. It alerts me where he is at all times."
Fascinated by the device, Y/N nodded in awe. Glancing at the time once more, she realized with a sinking feeling that she was now 19 minutes late for work. "Oh great," she muttered under her breath. Seonghwa noticed the stress etched on her face and immediately inquired, "What's wrong?" She sighed and replied, "I'm really late for work, and my boss tends to be difficult when I'm late." A pang of guilt washed over Seonghwa. "Please, let me take you out to dinner or something. It's my way of showing gratitude and catching up with you," he said sincerely. Y/N hesitated, not wanting to accept a reward for simply doing the right thing, but the desire to reconnect with Seonghwa overcame her hesitations. "Do you need a ride, or are you still afraid of driving?" Her face was again filled with shock upon hearing his words. "You actually remembered that??" she exclaimed, disbelief coloring her tone. "I remember quite a few things about you," he replied, reaching for his phone. "Put your number in so we can discuss a time for me to pick you up." She nodded, entering her phone number and saving her contact in his phone. "Are you still up for me giving you a ride?" he asked. She shook her head. "It's okay. I'll just skip work and call in an emergency. I live only four minutes away," she explained, oblivious to the disappointment that flickered across Seonghwa's face. Seonghwa nodded as he prepared to leave. "See you tonight, Y/N." She returned his smile and said, "See you tonight, Hwa."
As she walked, a wave of regret washed over her for not accepting the ride. However, she needed a little time alone to process the feelings that she thought had faded away since high school graduation. After all, Seonghwa had a child, which likely meant he had a wife. She now had to think of him as a normal person and not as someone she had once fell in love with.
It was precisely 7:38, and Seonghwa impatiently waited outside, his anticipation palpable. Y/N stole a quick, self-assured glance at herself in the mirror before confidently stepping out. Seonghwa reclined peacefully in his car, but his gaze immediately fixated on her, completely captivated by her presence. She adorned an exquisite beige floral dress, its long, flowing fabric adding an ethereal allure to her appearance. As she gracefully entered the car, Seonghwa's eyes sparkled with delight. "You have a nice car," she remarked, her admiration evident from the moment she got in. A warm smile graced his lips as he ignited the engine, signaling their readiness to embark on their journey.
As they began to drive, curiosity overwhelmed Y/N, prompting her to inquire about Sunghoon and his mother. The question elicited a hearty laugh from Seonghwa. "Sunghoon is doing splendidly, although I can't say the same for his mother," he replied, briefly glancing at her shocked expression. Chuckling at the sight, he refocused his attention on the road. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry," Y/N hastily apologized, her remorse evident. Seonghwa simply shrugged, dismissing her concerns. "Don't be."
Unable to contain her curiosity any longer, Y/N delved deeper into the matter. "What exactly happened?!" A bittersweet smile crept onto Seonghwa's face as he recollected the painful memory. "Well, the woman presented me with an ultimatum: either I allowed her to have an abortion or I put Sunghoon up for adoption, or I could stay with her. I chose Sunghoon because if she truly loved me, she wouldn't have given me such a heart-wrenching choice." Understandingly, Y/N nodded in empathy. "Sunghoon is truly a gem. How old is he?" she inquired, her mouth slightly agape in astonishment. "He's 7. I had him while I was in college," Seonghwa replied.
Seonghwa's eyes widened in utter disbelief upon hearing her confession. "You mean to tell me that no man has ever piqued your interest?" Y/N pondered his question carefully, her mind retracing the memories of countless encounters. Unapologetically, she admitted that nobody had ever managed to leave a lasting impression, except for the man seated beside her in that very car. The weight of her unspoken feelings burdened her, as she recalled the fear of potential rejection that had held her back before. Summoning her courage, she finally confessed, "Honestly, Seonghwa... you're the only person who has ever stirred something within me." The revelation hung heavily in the air, catching Seonghwa completely off guard.
Seonghwa's curiosity piqued, and he couldn't help but inquire further. "Really? No one has ever interested you?" With a surge of bravery, Y/N decided to reveal the truth. "Seonghwa, let me share something with you. You want to know something funny?" Seonghwa nodded, his eyes locked onto hers, waiting for her to continue. "You're the only person I've ever found truly intriguing." His shock was evident, and he searched for a suitable place to park. They ended up in the parking lot of an ice cream parlor, where Seonghwa turned to face Y/N. "Repeat what you just said," he requested, needing confirmation. Y/N blushed, her gaze averting to the ground. "I used to have strong feelings for you, Seonghwa. I liked you, a lot." His eyes widened further, processing her words.
Gently, Seonghwa caressed her cheek, his touch sending shivers down her spine. "That makes me sad," he admitted, his voice filled with a tinge of regret. Confusion clouded her expression. "What? You didn't want someone like me liking you?" He shook his head, a small smile forming on his lips. "No, it's not that. I'm sad because you said 'used to'." Her chuckle resonated through the car. "Is that a confession?" she teased. Seonghwa's smile grew wider. "Maybe." The atmosphere between them soon changed, and he leaned in closer, causing her to freeze in her seat. His voice was a breathy whisper as he asked, "Do you still like me?" His question escaped from his lips in a soft, whispered tone. "Maybe." She grinned, causing Seonghwa to roll his eyes playfully. "Turning my own words against me," he remarked, prompting laughter from both of them. "I never stopped having feelings for you."
"Want to hear something funny?"
"I never stopped having feelings for you either."
"You have feelings for me???" She questioned, her disbelief evident.
"Who wouldn't, Y/N? You're truly the most enchanting person I've ever encountered. Your kindness, your compassion, your willingness to lend a help. You're beautiful both inside and out, and that's exactly what I've always desired in a person."
"When I saw you back at that grocery a couple hours ago, I realized, it's always been you Y/N. Nobody ever made me feel this way in the past 9 years."
Her cheeks flushed a deep shade of crimson at his unexpected confession. In a bold move, she climbed over to the driver's seat, straddling Seonghwa. With a surge of courage, she leaned in and their lips met, sharing a fiery and passionate kiss. When they finally pulled away, they locked eyes, a profound silence enveloping them. Breaking the silence, Seonghwa spoke with a smile. "So, can I still take you out to dinner?" She nodded, a smile gracing her face, and hurried back to the passenger's seat.
"Sunghoon would be thrilled to hear about this. He couldn't stop talking about you all day," she giggled in response.
"Awe, are you already planning to go home and tell him that I'm your girlfriend?" She teased, a smirk creeping on her lips.
"Are you my girlfriend?"
She smiled, leaning back in her seat. "Only if you want me to be."
"Then you are my girlfriend," he declared, a look of pure happiness in his eyes.
As she watched him drive, a contented smile played on her lips. The unexpected circumstances that brought them back together filled her with joy. It had always been him, the one who sparked a flame of passion within her. Since parting ways, she had never been able to love someone the way she loved him. It had always been Seonghwa, and it always would be.

Welcome to another edition of:
Common Misconceptions of the Mario Series that are Incredibly Annoying
This time, this post has inspired me to talk about how unfair it really is that Mario, and only Mario, gets regularly accused of being "a cold-hearted psychopath because he stomps on Goombas and Koopas."
Let's ignore the fact that this has been incredibly dumb to unironically claim and instead focus on this:
Many other characters like Luigi, Peach, Toad, etc have done the exact same actions before.
Yet, I don't see a single person accuse Luigi the same way people constantly accuse Mario.
Strange, isn't it?
I would assume that the average person who knows Mario would have the knowledge that other characters other than Mario have done the same actions that have been deemed as harsh or even evil. There's been numerous games where this is the case.
So why is it that it's cool when Luigi or the other characters do it, but it's suddenly a problem when Mario does it?
It's a contradiction that is so blatantly obvious. And maybe that's part of the "joke," but the "joke" ran itself into the ground way back in 2014.
#mario#super mario#super mario bros#akiis thoughts#poor mario always gets the short end of the stick with people#he's just a happy little guy leave him alone ffs

I have been gifted by the oracle. Myne eyes have seen appolos prophecy
In 2056, Nintendo will collapse and go bankrupt and a global superscandal. The latest iteration of walugis ai, from Mario kart 8 deluxe anniversary edition deluxe return of the king 3.5¹, was found to have covertly breached containment from the Sealand FACILITY.He has been discovered robbing a bank with a collection of gizmos, and has been traced back to many acts of general attemped malice, including hiding cats up trees, and egregious tax fraud with varying levels of success. This was the first time in history Nintendo had been the defender in an ultra lawsuit.
Nintendo chose trial by combat, and Miyamoto, after carefull consideration, chose to nominate a champion instead of stepping into the arena himself. In a controversial move, he nominated Birdo, due to her bloodlust, marksmanship and general callusnous towards life. The prosecution² was studyied in the art of war, and genetically created an abomination of purple shambling flesh known as Wirdo. Birdo was obliterated in her entirety, with nothing left to bury³.
This led Miyamotos assets being dissolved, shortly after the court dissolved Miyamoto himself. His final words were unintelligible, largely due to the speed they were spoken with, but also due to the fact that no one could translate the dense, fluent, archaic Italian. Modern tests suggest this was a herald of the end times.
In the year 2214⁴ the intellectual property of Nintendo became freeuse, causing great threat to the human species. All previous Nintendo employees⁵ rise to walk the earth again, possessing only vengeance. All major population centers are swiftly overrun, and all military defences are shattered under a rain of wii remotes. Jonny Wii, the last surviving non-paranormal Nintendo employee is hunted and killed with giant hammers. After the battle of new new new Hampshire, the remaining members of the human species, the saints of Sealand and the methane giants collectively retreated into a pocket dimension, shortly before a battalion of graphic designers claimed the world's arsenal of nuclear warheads and antimatter weapons, and obliterate much of new new new new Hampshire, which has grown to the the size of 0.67au². Now alone on the ruined earth, the Nintendo employees played dormant, before a biblically incarnation of Christian God came down to earth herself, and smote them.
1. Rushed development cycles meant that Nintendo were already working on mariokart 9 at the time, likely being the reason for this oversight
2. The prosecution included; the sisterhood of sea land, the United state[singular] the uropa union. The European Union choose not to involve themselves. Historians cannot agree is this was due to the populations overwhelming support for waluigi, or due to the fact that the only remaining eu states were Wales, and Antartica
3. It was commonly reported that Yoshi died of grief, however this is a common misconception.
4. Disney Lawers had extended to time limits for ip entering the public domain too 160 years, after eating president fragrance.
5. All but Miyamoto of course, bless the benevolent methane
