Backstory (before Heaven)

Evangeline was born as a peasant in France, and her parents each worked beneath King Louis VXI and Queen Marie Antionette. At a young age, Evangeline and her elder sister were chosen to become Marie's daughter's playmates. A common practice for nobles of the ra to find a commoner to befriend their child to socialize with them, however, the Queen chose to do this to teach her daughter empathy. After several years of spending day after day at the side of the Princess, her mother passed away. Stricken with responsibility and a heart bigger than the public knew, Marie Antionette adopted Evangeline and her elder sister. Quickly moving the two into the Palace of Versailles and giving each of them new names based on her favorite books, Evangeline now being called Juliette by her adopted mother based on 'Les Lettres de Juliette Catesby (1759)' by Marie Jeanne Riccoboni.

Despite being treated with the same maternal care and affection as Marie's biological daughter, Evangeline nor her elder sister were ever granted titles. Instead, the two were often referred to by others in the palace as 'the girls who always accompany Princess Marie-Therese.' This never bothered Evangeline, the young girl only thankful for the affection and opportunity within the palace. Her new mother gave her access to literature, teaching her to read as soon as possible, and teaching her daughter how to love books just as she did. It was at this time that Evangeline began to read the bible and learn other languages.

When the political unrest within France grew and the royal family attempted to flee, Evangeline and her sister were sent to the countryside to live with their biological father until the family returned shortly after failing the attempt. The unrest only grew, however, resulting in the Queen instructing another member of the French Court to take Evangeline and her sister to safety. The two living with the Mackau family during the height of the revolution and during their adopted parent's executions, their biological father shortly following in their footsteps due to his association with the King.

It wasn't until age 17 that Evangeline was released from legal guardianship, and permission to use the pension from her deceased adoptive parents as she wished. For the first time, the young woman was on her own in the world, and her name had been changed back to match that of her biological parents instead of the royal family. She moved to Saint-Denis in Paris to live close to her sister, the only person she even knew anymore.

For years, the young woman lived alone, unsure of what direction her life was meant to go in. Everything had been set up for her, prepared for her since she had been adopted. Things were always taken care of for her, a future decided for her even when she was under legal guardianship by the Mackau family. Near overnight everything changed, her whole life flipped upside down and every adult with a parental role in her eyes was gone. She spent her days reading, visiting with her neighbors, and feeding the strays while her sister began a family, at least being married off. It wasn't until 1802 when a group of soldiers traveled through her city, ones she just had to run into on the street, unknowingly spread yellow fever throughout Saint-Denis.

Early winter that year, Evangeline passed away in her home with no one but her faith and sister at her side. Without even a good story to tell, the young woman went to sleep to never wake up in the mortal realm again. However, she instead awoke before the pearly gates. She was greeted by St. Peter, who quickly checked his book to find her name, and brought through the gates quickly. Passing through the gates, Evangeline's senses were overloaded by the bright aura that emitted off the grand, beautiful structures softly sat atop the clouds. Almost causing her to miss the other angels themselves, as her eyes danced from billboard to fountain and so on.

Timeline In Hell (After The Fall)

2002: Arrival. She woke up alone in an alleyway, wingless and unfamiliar with both her sinner form and the world around her. Stumbling lost, missing her husband, and confused about what to do with herself. Seeking shelter, or a place to stay and coming up empty-handed for over a year. Leading the girl who had once lived within the palace walls of Versailles and in a lavish mansion in heaven to sleep on the streets longer than she’d ever anticipated for herself. From the moment she’d been adopted, this outcome was something she had never even allowed herself to consider. 

2003: The end of Evangeline. After a year of nothing but sorrow and uncertainty, Evangeline began to indulge in some of Hell’s most popular pastimes. More particularly, the drug and party scene. Finding herself diving headfirst into a realm that she convinced herself she had to belong, and after a short passage of time- She did. 

Mid-2003: The birth of Eva Lean. Despite the initial sin that led to her fall being only blasphemy, Evangeline became gluttonous and lustful. Spending every night going from club to club, bar to bar, and partaking in every substance she could- Leaning into a persona based on how she came to find out history had remembered her adoptive mother. “Let them eat cake!” She’d cheer, relishing as the center of attention beneath the flashing lights, booming music, and between the swaying bodies of the crowd. The overindulgence numbed her from the memories of Heaven, from Adam and Sera’s betrayal, and from God’s bullshit. It didn’t matter anymore if she had a place to call her own, or a regular roof over her head– She’d just crash at whatever bar she ended up in by the end of the night. She shed herself of the identity she’d held onto for her whole living life and the centuries she spent in heaven– renaming herself Eva Lean after a particular purple concoction she enjoyed more than she should. 

2004: Selling her Soul. Eva didn’t realize that her reputation had begun to grow, word of a descendant of Marie Antionette going unhinged was hard to miss for someone like Valentino. He beckoned her to where he sat one evening in a club, and in her inebriated, curious state, she waltzed over to him. Plopping down on the couch beside him, waving the red smoke that wafted from his cigarette as he began to offer her an opportunity not fit for an angel. But she was a fallen angel and one without anything. Val ensured if she worked for him, and sold her soul to him– She’d have a roof over her head, protection during the yearly exterminations, and all the money she could want. Even if she had been sober, it was a choice with only one clear option. 

Pilot: Finding the Hazbin Hotel/Hearing of it. It had been over 10 years since Eva began working for Valentino. Her name, face, and body spread across the internet of hell in a way unfit for a woman of God. Although, the scars on her back were regularly edited out of everything she starred in. It wasn’t always glamorous or enjoyable, the work or living conditions but she didn’t even know what else she would do by this point. Valentino wasn’t always harsh with her, in fact, the overlord showed an almost soft side with the fallen angel behind closed doors. Careful to avoid causing anyone else to think he was playing favorites, of course. Eva enjoyed, no– relished in his attention. Even if she knew and believed it to be a facade, a ploy to get her clothes off and comfortable enough to keep being an obedient employee and pet. His chain was heavy on her throat and only felt lighter when he turned his attention to Angel Dust after his arrival to hell. She worked alongside Angel Dust, obviously not in the same films, but nonetheless. The two grew a friendship, relating to one another. Eventually, Eva would hear all about it from Valentino whenever Angel Dust moved out and started staying at the Hazbin Hotel. And she soon asked her friend what the hotel was all about. The concept intrigued her, although she didn’t believe in it being passed by heaven. She knew she herself was incapable of redemption particularly, due to already falling, but it would be interesting to offer assistance. She could get some space from Valentino when he was particularly aggressive or clingy for lack of a better word. Her soul’s owner had grown excessively attentive after Angel’s choice to leave, and it was becoming suffocating. Eva decided to visit this Hazbin hotel, greeting Charlie and expressing her interest in not being redeemed herself, but rather assisting sinners to take a more righteous path. Despite not being quite what Charlie had anticipated, or hoped to hear from the lamb, she was happy to accept help with the cause. 

During the Series: Eva moved into the Hazbin Hotel, resulting in a less-than-happy Valentino, gaining a similar reaction to when Angel Dust joined the Hotel- Though, much less severe in truth. (cont)

When a historical fate person (usually called Servants, so I'm going to use that lingo from now on) is summoned, they get stronger depending on how famous they are. If they get summoned in a place where they're really famous, they get a huge boost. Unfortunately, infamy can come with a cost: the Innocent Monster skill, where a person's reputation transforms them to match their rumors.

Hans Christian Anderson, the famous fairy tale author, is summoned in a child's body; Vlad Tepes and Elizabeth Bathory get hit with those vampire rumors; but probably the most dramatically affected is the composer Antonio Salieri from Fate Grand Order.

In life, Antonio Salieri was a musician and composer of some talent and a friend of Mozart. The two of them were good friends, with Salieri going on to tutor both Mozart's students and Mozart's son. Although envy tinged some of their relationship, he and Mozart were on good terms until Mozart's death at a shockingly young age, with Salieri mourning him deeply.

Unfortunately, a rumor spread that Salieri's envy had lead him to kill Mozart, and attempts by Salieri to deny it only fanned the flames. 200 years later, the movie/musical Amadeus is just one example of the legend of "Salieri, the man who was obsessed with destroying Mozart."

And as such, as long as Mozart isn't around, the servant summoned as Antonio Salieri is wry, clever, and prone to sentiment. But the moment Mozart appears, or even is mentioned...

"The Man Who Killed Mozart" appears, filled with an unshakable compulsion to - well, kill Mozart. This being, in both human and monster form, refuse to go by the name Antonio Salieri - after all, Salieri was Mozart's close friend. How could Salieri also exist as a being that hates Mozart so much?

(Despite all that, the former Salieri hangs with Mozart, who has gotten very good at dodging, and some historical contemporaries - Marie Antionette, spy Cheveliar D'eon, and executioner Charles Henri-Sanson. The French Revolution gang has mostly worked through their issues by the time Salieri shows up, so many of their appearances in Fate Grand Order post-salieri involve them trying to help Mozart and Salieri hang out without someone dying.)

(For valentine's day, The Man Who Is Definitely Not Salieri Shut Up has a panic attack about being given chocolate because he does not deserve chocolate and hides in his room, then sends Marie and Mozart with an apology present afterwards.)

october 3, 2024 dear diary...

i liked today!! i woke up a little later so my brother got all mad at me for using the bathroom to straighten my hair because he needed to shower but thats on HIM because he always showers at 7:15 and if hes late then i just start my hair because it takes at least 30 minutes. but yeah the morning was fine, then i went to history and OMG OK so the teacher rearranged the tables into groups and said sit wherever and make your own groups. so i only really have one friend in that class so we sat together at one table and NO ONE JOINED US??? SO WE DID IT WITH JUST THE TWO OF US INSTEAD OF 5-6?? it honestly made it easier and everyone in that class is lowkey rude but STILL. anywayyy then we decided that we wanted to go to france because we're learning about french history right now and i just really wanna go there 😫😫 also marie antionette's last words were apologizing to her executioner for stepping on his foot and that makes me rlly sad... When Sierra Ferrell took the stage last night, it felt as if the entire sold-out Webster Hall had entered a collective dream state. The backdrop behind the stage showed a wooded scene, Ferrell was dressed in the style of Marie Antionette with a massive dress and stylish wig, and when she sang it was with a voice that seemed to have traveled from another era to fill the room. She opened with “Silver Dollar,” off her 2021 release, Long Time Coming, the band, dressed in matching hats and dreamlike sparkling red ties, joining in with fiddle and mandolin solos, the audience losing their minds in admiration. This dream world was somehow 18th Century France and the Grand Ole Opry in its heyday, a wooded fairy tale in the middle. Quite a voice.

Ferrell mixed in plenty of songs off her latest release, Trail of Flowers: “I’ll Come Off the Mountain” showing her impressive vocal range, “Chitlin Cookin’ Time in Cheatham County” a more jazzed country with a ripping electric guitar solo. The band expertly moved through multiple configurations, going quiet with just mandolin and brushed drums on the poignant “Whispering Waltz,” crowding the front of the stage for some extra country oomph on “Jeremiah,” the audience returning the favor by clapping along, leaving Ferrell alone for a lovely “Rosemary,” surrounding her single-microphone-style for a bluegrass-y “The Garden.” “I Could Drive You Crazy” had Ferrell joining on fiddle, multiple changes eventually melting into an extended outro while she walked offstage and the band played the traditional “Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor.”

When she returned, her outfit had become even more dreamlike, a dazzling blue pixie who shot an arrow at the backdrop, which dropped to reveal a dreamy night sky. The second half of the set built on the first, finding the spot on the western music genre family tree where country, jazz and rock all met. The energy kicked up a notch on songs like “The Sea,” which started off at a sultry pace and then triple-timed with frantic mandolin and fiddle solos, slowed back down for bass and drum solos and then ratcheted back up again. The show ended, appropriately, with “In Dreams,” Ferrell singing, “I hope I’m in your dreams / The way you are in all of mine,” as if to every single person in the room. —A. Stein | @Neddyo

Backstory (before Heaven)

Evangeline was born as a peasant in France, and her parents each worked beneath King Louis VXI and Queen Marie Antionette. At a young age, Evangeline and her elder sister were chosen to become Marie's daughter's playmates. A common practice for nobles of the ra to find a commoner to befriend their child to socialize with them, however, the Queen chose to do this to teach her daughter empathy. After several years of spending day after day at the side of the Princess, her mother passed away. Stricken with responsibility and a heart bigger than the public knew, Marie Antionette adopted Evangeline and her elder sister. Quickly moving the two into the Palace of Versailles and giving each of them new names based on her favorite books, Evangeline now being called Juliette by her adopted mother based on 'Les Lettres de Juliette Catesby (1759)' by Marie Jeanne Riccoboni.

Despite being treated with the same maternal care and affection as Marie's biological daughter, Evangeline nor her elder sister were ever granted titles. Instead, the two were often referred to by others in the palace as 'the girls who always accompany Princess Marie-Therese.' This never bothered Evangeline, the young girl only thankful for the affection and opportunity within the palace. Her new mother gave her access to literature, teaching her to read as soon as possible, and teaching her daughter how to love books just as she did. It was at this time that Evangeline began to read the bible and learn other languages.

When the political unrest within France grew and the royal family attempted to flee, Evangeline and her sister were sent to the countryside to live with their biological father until the family returned shortly after failing the attempt. The unrest only grew, however, resulting in the Queen instructing another member of the French Court to take Evangeline and her sister to safety. The two living with the Mackau family during the height of the revolution and during their adopted parent's executions, their biological father shortly following in their footsteps due to his association with the King.

It wasn't until age 17 that Evangeline was released from legal guardianship, and permission to use the pension from her deceased adoptive parents as she wished. For the first time, the young woman was on her own in the world, and her name had been changed back to match that of her biological parents instead of the royal family. She moved to Saint-Denis in Paris to live close to her sister, the only person she even knew anymore.

For years, the young woman lived alone, unsure of what direction her life was meant to go in. Everything had been set up for her, prepared for her since she had been adopted. Things were always taken care of for her, a future decided for her even when she was under legal guardianship by the Mackau family. Near overnight everything changed, her whole life flipped upside down and every adult with a parental role in her eyes was gone. She spent her days reading, visiting with her neighbors, and feeding the strays while her sister began a family, at least being married off. It wasn't until 1802 when a group of soldiers traveled through her city, ones she just had to run into on the street, unknowingly spread yellow fever throughout Saint-Denis.

Early winter that year, Evangeline passed away in her home with no one but her faith and sister at her side. Without even a good story to tell, the young woman went to sleep to never wake up in the mortal realm again. However, she instead awoke before the pearly gates. She was greeted by St. Peter, who quickly checked his book to find her name, and brought through the gates quickly. Passing through the gates, Evangeline's senses were overloaded by the bright aura that emitted off the grand, beautiful structures softly sat atop the clouds. Almost causing her to miss the other angels themselves, as her eyes danced from billboard to fountain and so on.

Notable Relationships

Adam: The First Man Evangeline initially wasn't the biggest fan of Adam when they first met, as crude and obnoxious as he was, although over time she began to notice herself laughing at his annoying comments instead of cringing. She was probably the one to fall for him first, much to her dismay; Although she wouldn't be the first to make a move. Internally and externally she denied the fact she'd grown to care for him, enjoyed his crass humor, and couldn't stand how quiet things were when he wasn't around. After several months of relentless seemingly one-sided flirting from Adam, Evangeline relented, eventually reciprocating his advances. Although, due to her embarrassment she attempted to keep their entanglement a secret, which did not last long, when Lute opened the door of Adam's office one evening and caught the two getting heated. After this, the two made their relationship official and it became known within heaven among both the angels of lower and higher status. Despite her initial uncertainty, after what felt like no time the couple engaged before being married in 'holy matrimony.' Due to Adam's history regarding Eve and Lilith, Evangeline vowed to always stay by his side as his wife and support him. She never wanted to turn out like the two who hurt the only man who ever made her laugh or feel loved since she died before ever finding someone in life. The biggest problem within their relationship arises 200 years after they marry, due to the fact Adam kept the exterminations a secret from her their entire marriage. Truthfully, the only reason she ever learned of them was by chance and staying up 'overnight' during the yearly extermination, a night she had always viewed as the one day Adam took work seriously. This was why she stayed up late, waiting for him to get back with Lute so she could see him and ask how it went, even if she didn't know truly what it was his 'job' was. While waiting, she heard the door open followed by the voices of Adam and Lute. The two were happily chatting about slaughtering hundreds of souls, sinners specifically, but still. The revelation that her husband and someone she'd considered her closest friend were capable of such acts horrified Evangeline and caused her to rush toward them with a million questions. Lute pretty quickly excused herself, claiming this was Adam's problem, and leaving the couple to argue in privacy. They went back and forth on the ethics of it, the purpose, and how it could possibly be justified. 'It's to protect us! To protect Heaven and all of us angels here! Those sinners and demons want to uprise, you don't even get it-' All of his excuses seemed to fall onto deaf ears, as Evangeline shook her head in denial and led the argument until daybreak. Eventually, she began to kind of understand his supposed perspective. Thinking of the revolution and uprising that caused what she had always known to be a loving family to be torn apart, she chose to trust Adam and the other angels who made the decisions regarding the exterminations.

Lute Evangeline met Lute at the same time she met Adam, in fact, she walked right past Adam to introduce herself to Lute with a warm smile and handshake. Lute was apprehensive at first, uneasy with what seemed like sickly sweet kindness that radiated off the new angel. However, once she viewed how she reacted to Adam and was nearly forced to spend time with her; Lute began to consider Evangeline a friend. The two often spend their free time away from Adam together, whether that be talking shit or shopping. The second of the two options was less of a favorite of the exorcist angel, although she seemed to enjoy the food portions of their shopping trips. Often times one will try to invest the other in one of their own hobbies, like Evangeline's singing or Lute's combat practice; Each resulting in humorous situations for the friends. When Evangeline learns of the exterminations, and about who/what Lute really is, she's initially hurt by the fact her only actual friend had kept such a secret from her. (even if it was ordered and literally a part of the rules.) A wedge nearly being thrown between them, until Lute finally explains the fact there are rules regarding the exterminations and how only the exorcist angels and seraphim really know. While this explanation makes sense, Evangeline accepts this and tries to move on. In the end, learning the truth caused the two women to become better friends now that Lute truly could open up to someone else and not have to rely on Adam as the only one who knew the truth.

i know this is a dumb question but if im an enfp, why am i bad at brainstorming? its usually only with stuff i dont want to do though, is this normal or am i not an enfp? literally every description says enfps are amazing brainstormers and have 1 million ideas every second but im not like that 😭

ENPs aren't automatic idea machines. We are specialized and generate ideas only for what interests us. The crux of being an ENP is the ability to solve a problem across contexts... in other words, if you have run out of ideas for something, you can go watch an unrelated movie or listen to music or something and that sparks the solution in your mind or gives you an idea that is unrelated to what you are doing. That's what I love most about Ne -- you don't have to stick to "same-ness" in order to generate ideas about what you're doing. You can be writing a story about Marie Antionette and take a break and watch ALIAS and an idea of what to do to fix a plot hole occurs to you while watching Sydney Bristow kick people in the face.
