Since you asked about what Ivy would think of Arjun, I'm curious to know what he would think of her 👀
Now if Arjun ever meets an individual who has an Indian descent, he'd definitely blend with them really well!
Ivy is one of those examples who has an Indian ethnicity so they'd often exchange their cultures together — Arjun for his Marathi heritage and Ivy for her Goan heritage. At first, he'd be a little confused while referring to Ivy's codename, as Dracula rather than Vampire. He even joked once if she drinks blood but I'm sure Ivy got the Captain's subtle humor.
Arjun also believes Ivy would take part in his campaign responsibly which also gives him a sense of ease. And if they ever worked with the 141, I'm sure they'd exchange some words in their language (or mainly Hindi, if Ivy knows!) that the rest of the team won't understand, haha!
Also, Captain Arjun personally also holds a responsibility in protecting the drill sergeant, as his common duty is to protect the others along with his own team members. So, if Ivy has to go somewhere, Arjun would ask at once if he should go with her along for assistance. But if she doesn't require him, then with full trust, Arjun would let her go.
I'm very sure Ivy and Arjun would get along. And as you said, Kavya would be very happy to see Ivy! Watch her as she exchanges some yummy Marathi recipes and paint a portrait for her! Makes her feel like they're family <3

If you’ve been to a falafel or shwarma stand in Israel, then you have probably heard of amba. Amba is a spiced pickled mango condiment. Its popularity in Israel comes by way of the Iraqi Jewish community. This flavorful condiment is commonly found in Iraq, across the Middle East, and in India as well. In fact, amba originated in India, and the word “amba” means mango in Marathi.
You can find countless recipes and variations for amba, but the main and required ingredient is mango. Most recipes also include mustard seed, turmeric, chili and fenugreek. Fenugreek is an herb that’s often used in Indian, Persian, Turkish and Middle Eastern cooking. It has a unique maple syrup-like aroma, and can add an herbacious sweetness to a dish.
Traditionally, amba is made by slicing and salting green mangoes and placing them in a jar in the sun to ferment for five days. Afterward, the mango is removed from the jar and left to dry out in sunlight for 3-4 hours. Once dried, the mango is simmered with spices and is then jarred for use. You’ll definitely get a deeper flavor if you allow for longer fermentation of the mango, but you might want to make amba when you don’t have access to five sunny days in a row or when you just don’t want to wait that long.
Inspired by the techniques of many home cooks, I decided to make a quicker-pickled amba. You still salt the mango, and you let it sit in that salt overnight, but that’s the extent of the wait time. The cured mango then gets cooked with a variety of spices and aromatics, and finally vinegar is added. Amba is ideally made with green unripe mangoes, which can be tricky to find. For this recipe any mango will work, but it is best to use ones that are firm and not fully ripe. This recipe makes a mildly spicy amba; you can adjust the level of heat depending on how much chili and cayenne you add. Skip the cayenne entirely if you don’t like things spicy. Add an extra chili and a bigger pinch of cayenne if you can take the heat. I like amba that is a little thick with small chunks of mango, but if you like yours smoother and thinner you can purée it until smooth and add water to thin it out to your desired consistency.
Amba is as versatile as it is delicious, and it is unlike any other hot sauce. In our home we especially like to have it on hand during the summertime because it goes great with just about any grilled protein: chicken, steak, tofu, or fish. It’s also nice to have it on hand for a grain bowl topping. Amba added to some yogurt with a little lemon juice also makes a perfect dip for vegetables or pita chips. Amba adds a tangy, fruity, pop of heat to any dish.
Note: Amba keeps well in the fridge for about 2-3 weeks.

5. Marathi
5. Hindi
5. Punjabi (native to my country but not a language I speak and my forever favourite song)
7. (Marathi)
कवडसे (kuh-vuh-duh-say): rays (☀️) coming in through slits or gaps
(Hindi/Urdu)
ख़िज़ाँ (khizaan) : autumn, fall
(Sanskrit)
स्वाहा (swaa-haa) : it's used at the end of a mantra usually when an offering is made. It's also used in the phrasal form to denote sacrificing or burning or depleting something.
23. Rum and whisky. I recommend army issue Old Monk. My poison. There's also something called 'desi tharra' that's cheap and consumed by many and has varied recipes and may or may not end up in causing a person's (yours or whoever you end up brawling with) death.

questions about marathi culture, for a character! (her family is buddhist for extra context if it matters, but not very devout)
-what would be a term of endearment a parent might call their (adult) daughter? -what are popular beverages of the area and what are they like? -extremely specific but are devaks specific only to a few areas or are they more common in maharashtra? what are they usually like? -what are some more mundane, everyday traditions or expectations? things that might pertain to daily life, like meals or greetings?
1. A term of endearment for a daughter is usually baal (baby) or Tai or Didi (honourifics for older sister). Affectionate names are rarely used in my house, but the most common ones, as an adult daughter myself, are bubdi (somewhat means "bubba") or just a shortened form of my real name.
Priye, which literally means "loved one", is a romantic name, but my father sometimes uses it for me.
2. Popular beverages:
The first one is, of course, chai (Hindi) or chaha (Marathi). People are obsessed with spicy, savoury tea here. There is a specific way to make it, and every family has their own recipe/ingredients that they use.
Aamras is only made in the summers, because it is simply mango pulp with sugar added to taste. Some other families mix milk into it. It may be eaten with a spoon just on its own or you may dip bread into it.
Rasna and Maaza are packaged beverages that are also favoured in the summer. Rasna is bought in powdered form and mixed into water at home, and Maaza is basically mango juice. All of these are cold.
Solkadhi is a pastel pink, cold, slightly spicy beverage that is usually poured on rice or drunk after meals.
3. Devaks:
Are far as I know, only the Maratha families have a Devak. They are family totems for protection and other spiritual things, in the form of a physical object for eg. a banyan tree or an idol of a god. A man and a woman whose families have the same Devak may not marry each other.
4. Some specific traditions:
Do not enter the temple with your footwear on. Your footwear has touched a lot of unsanitary places, and a temple must remain clean and uncontaminated. Do not enter anyone's home with your footwear on, basically. Even your own home.
You must wash your hands with soap before and after a meal, as food is eaten without cutlery. Eat with only one hand, the other must stay in your lap or on your knee. Most families say a prayer before beginning the meal, to thank the gods for giving them sustenance.
As for greetings, people in rural areas usually greet with a Namaskar (Marathi for the Hindi word namaste) or a Ram Ram (yes, Ram from the Ramayana). During formal occasions like religious festivals or family gatherings, the younger ones usually greet and take leave of the older people by touching their feet, and receiving blessings in return. These blessings may be ayushman bhava (may you live long), vijayi bhava (may you be victorious), samartho bhava (may you be accomplished), vidwaan(masc)/vidushi(fem) bhava (may you be brilliant in studies) or many more.
Most traditions are unique to each family, so finding generalised ones is pretty difficult. I hope this was helpful, and my asks are always open!
