Okay you can’t tell me that Vlad doesn’t have an organ somewhere in his mansion. Upon learning of this, Danny would teach himself how to play the Haunted Mansion theme on the organ and play it at 2am.

Vlad Masters is away on business in Gotham, and the Fentons are coincidentally there for a symposium on ecto-activity. So it’s perfect! Except he goes to the wrong house, er mansion.

Honestly, Danny thought it was one of Vlad’s many mansions. Scaring the old man is his favorite activity after all. There’s a higher amount of ectoplasm here, so it has to be Vlad’s place right?

When Bruce comes out (on one of his few nights off) and sees his carbon copy playing the organ, all thoughts fly out of his head. Danny finally looks up and also blue screens. They stare at each other for what feels like an eternity until Danny’s cell phone rings (the ghostbusters theme??) and he panics. He jumps up and makes a break for the other door rushing through apologies “SorryWronghousegottagobye!” And runs out of the room. “Wait! Who are you?”Bruce exclaims as he rushes after him. They’re on the second story in one of the rooms he rarely uses. How did he know where the organ was? No matter. He’ll catch the kid on the stairs.

Except the kid is already almost at the bottom. How did he get down so effortlessly? The kid practically floated down the stairs.

Bruce gets to the foyer just in time to see the kid realize the door was dead-bolted in multiple spots. He won’t be able to undo them all before Bruce catches up to him.

He slows down and stands behind a pillar, assessing his next move. He needs to be careful here. This is a child after all, no need to spook him any more than he already has. He needs to slowly approach, and ask his questions.

But then the kid does the unexpected. After looking around frantically, he takes a deep breath. Two rings form around his middle and travel up and down his body. His black hair turns ghostly white. He looks back, almost directly at Bruce. His eyes widen as if he realizes he’s being watched. He whispers, barely loud enough to hear, “I’m so sorry, please don’t follow me.” Then, he backs through the locked door and vanishes.

idk there's something about the image of the inquisitor back in skyhold after ten years. back in their chambers, the war room, the herald's rest. a decade on and somehow the odds feel even more impossible this time around and maybe that's ever so slightly because skyhold, once busy and bustling, simmering with zeal and pride, is now sitting dark and empty and sad. the skeleton crew that keep it do their best, dust and crumbling mortar are easily fixed, but nothing can dull the slow, steady ache of time and memory.

then skyhold once again floods with people - the noble, the common, warriors and mages and all other manner of folk - and this time, rather than spoiling for a fight, these people are terrified. most are injured, some are dying, all have lost everything. the grounds and great hall are once again fit to bursting, but skyhold remains so desperately, achingly sad. the rotunda is conspicuously empty. as is the library, the rookery, josephine's office, the training grounds, the undercroft. there are new advisors, of course, and the return of a few old friends, but they don't play wicked grace, don't eat together, don't sit and tell long stories into the small hours. the hearth in the inquisitor's room is never as warm as it used to be, the gardens are never as green.

everything is a pale imitation of what was, and the inquisitor, who once was the beating heart of it all, realises that skyhold can never be their home again.

And, look at this- they have a whole potting room to maintain all of the plants around the house.

See like this is what I mean when I say that the haunting of Hill house reflects mid-century antipathy towards Victorian design.

Because what is described here as the builders trying to get out of the house quickly and not really caring much about the second and third floors is. Extremely typical of that design style. Like, it's really normal to go into even a grand late Victorian house and have The upper rooms be significantly simpler than the lower ones, just because they wouldn't be seen by as many people and many families preferred to make them beautiful with furniture, prints, wallpaper, etc. rather than spend extra money having architectural details put in

It doesn't have anything to do with the house being evil or the builders wanting to get out quickly – but it makes sense that a woman writing in the 1950s, born in 1916, who spent the majority of her life in either relatively new build in California or much less elaborate older houses in New England, might not have the cultural context to understand that. And therefore might see it in some more elaborate high Victorian mansions and find it offputting

It's kind of amusing to read as someone who works with that style of house professionally, because it's very much like saying. I don't know. "The house had popcorn ceilings and that was a sign of how creepy and haunted and evil it was!"

Minecraft Countryside House! A complete survival house made out of bricks, sand, birch and spruce!

I wanted to make a super cozy but at the same time mansion sized build, just cause I really wanted to try and build something different, thus the tower on the left and the round roof on the left! Of course, if you're making a countryside house, and going for the vibes, u always need to add a greenhouse to it, and I think it ended up fitting really well there! The whole interior of the build is quite cozy too, imo, and it has all the features u might need on your base, from your personal forge, entrance hall with a lodestone, enchantment setup, and much more!
