Someone actually manages to get the answer as to WHY he was like that
He told them that is creepy godfarther/uncle was trying to fuck his mother, murder his farter and make him his business currupt son
Danny talked about how this "fruitloop" would forceful drag him to galas, photoshoots, interviews and after all the drama of adopting all those things have become a PTSD trigger
Everyone feels sorry and after that he's no longer pestered by the press
(Yes all his siblings are jelous and proud)
Until said creepy godfarther/uncle tries to get custody over danny, all bruce wayne did was relese the information to the press
Now there are hundrers of gothem press breaking down his door for making them deal with the feral racoon he traumatised
dp x dc prompt #54
When Danny was first given the opportunity to make a public persona when he came to live in Gotham, he was a little bit concerned. How was he supposed to come up with an entire elaborate character to act as all the time. Then he remembered the time that Vlad called him a rabid badger when he got especially angry and a genius idea came into existence.
When the press gathered around to interview and write about the newest Wayne adoption, they thought they had seen it all already. The last new child had tried to skewer one of the unsuspecting interns after all. When the teenager didnât even get all the way out of the car before punching someone standing too close and snarling at him, several considered filing their resignation letters on the spot. The pay wasnât worth this.

BNHA season 2 stain arc next! The second half of the season~
My review of Season 2 part 2:
Oh boy, every introverts worst nightmare; social interaction. If I was in deku's situation, I would've acted like I didn't knew wit the man was talking about www
Iida stop lying to your friends please TOT
Yay aizawa isn't a mummy lol. I still can't believe deku only got 1 offer, like cmon, even zero has more than him. Also, mineta shut the fuck up, like you're any better
LMAO aizawa warning them to be careful with their choice of hero name cuz of his own experience
Hero name time!! Omfg aoyama's hero name I can't đđ thank you tsu for being normal www
Aww lil deku comin up with all might themed names, tho ngl a lil embarrassing if he chose one of em
Ok the fact that denki knows who Hemingway, an American novelist, shows that he might not be academically smart, but he's not entirely stupid. Headcanon that he reads english books on his free time
Hhhhh great flashback to tensei q-q, nooo iida pls you deserve to take on the name
LMAO bakugo not being able to keep a hero name he's came up with đ
Mineta, why tf are you still here... Ofc he'd go for mt. Lady
Pft all might being terrified of grand tornino, wonder how hard his training was under him
Oh god... Iida off to do a dumb decision...
Hhhh iida pls they're your friends, but this is what happens when you're being powered by the need for vengeance
Omg I forgot about the first introduction to grand torino LMAO and him pretending to be a feeble old man with a bad memory, he's an old gremlin that can kick ass, he's like yoda but sassy www
And now deku getting his ass handed to him, srsly how tf is his back not broken, I mean with the speed grand torino goes at, it would at least crack somethin
Ah yes, bakugo and best jeanist, good luck in trying to stitch in some manners in this boy lol
LMAO poor Momo and Kendo, thinking they'll get to do some action pact crime fighting stuff when in actuality they're just gonna model
Oh boy, endeavor... Yeah you tell him shoto!!
Deku treating his quirk like something that isn't his makes a lot of sense, since he's never really had a quirk before so he doesn't really see it as an extension of himself. Gotta love seeing a protagonist that's powerful but obviously has a long way to go and still needs training to hone their skills
BAHAHA BAKUGO'S HAIR đđ
Oh shit, the whole nomu situation and the multiple quirks thing. I kinda feel bad for the people that get turned to nomus, like pretty sure they didn't want to lose all sense of self
"Someone as crazy as this" that's rich coming from you shigaraki.
Oh god iida no... I get ur going through some emotional shit and want justice, but u don't wanna be a murderer, even if this is a villain
"We're not going to go after anyone that big" ya jinxed yourself grand torino
Thank you mister blue guy that iida is interning under whose name I can't remember for trying to put some sense into him
OH SHIT TIME FOR SOME ACTION! GO KICK SOME NOMU ASS GRAND TORINO!!
Iida nooo he's so tunneled vision for vengeance...
Endeavor is a terrible parent, but dammit he's good at his job as a hero, minus the being nice part
I still don't really see how tensei wasn't a good hero, I mean from what I could tell he was definitely living up to the title of "hero". No matter, DEKU ZOOMING IN TO SAVE THE DAY!! YEAH SHOTO ALSO COMING IN TO SAVE SOME ASS!!!
EW OH GOD I FORGOT ABOUT CLOSE UP ON THE LICKING EW
God this whole fight is just amazing, this is where deku and shoto become actual friends and iida gets some sense into him
Shoto and iida bonding over their shared past narrowed tunnel vision out of absolute resentment
"BECOME THE HERO HE WANTED YOU TO BE" now look whose giving the inspirational words! Shoto has learned a lot from deku lol
YEAH GET UP IIDA BACK ON YOUR FEET SOLDIER GO SAVE SHOTO FROM GETTING AMPUTATED! Oh and a cool kick flip too!
iida as the legs, deku as the arms, and shoto as the body, love these 3
Ya know, I realized that they still kinda treat nomus as if they're actually human, like they still arrest them and try to talk to ee. Which ig makes sense since there are mutant quirks and anyone can look like anything, so the whole reveal that nomus aren't human - well not anymore at least - would be a much bigger deal, even though it is kinda obvious
"My friend might be in danger" THE FIRST TIME HE SAYS THEY'RE FRIENDS YESSS
Ok damn giving some vocals onto endeavor's song aight then
Gotta appreciate that the pro heroes, adults, are being responsible and making sure the interns, teenagers, are safe. Yeah they're hero students, but they're still kids
"Our fight against the hero killer probably only took about 10 minutes" that was only 10 minutes??? Damn time feels a lot different when kicking ass huh
OH SHIT FLYING NOMU! OH SHIT DEKU!! OH GROSS THE TONGUE!!! OH FUCK STAIN TO THE RESCUE??
Oh boy stain's final speech... And also creepy ass face reveal, never noticed he doesn't actually have a nose
Oh lol it's the dog man cop www woof
I get that they're trying to avoid the abuse of quirks (which feels a lil dumb considering what happens in the future) but also, iida was going to die along with that other pro hero, like what else were they going to do?? They're kids yes, but the fact that they are means that using their quirks was literally the only thing they could do. Also mentioning shoto's dad like that really didn't feel necessary jeez
Lmao yeah shoto, the dog cop would've started with that
"Was that a boy~" LMAO GUNHEAD
Hhhh oh boy, these children need therapy I swear. But thank god for shoto breaking the ice, the hand crusher www
Oh fuckkk stain inadvertently helped shigaraki get what he wanted, which I think might've not been wat he meant to do but oh well
Now time to see everyone else's internship!
Bakugo my dude you are not cut out in making the public feel safe ya dumbass. Uraraka learning hand to hand combat! Poor Momo and kendo, barely get to do actual heroing. Tho the same could be said for kirishima and tetsutetsu, but at least it's an activity that's actually helping the community. But hey at least jirou seems to be actually doing some action pact heroing
Froppy your sense of cute is very different from everyone else's, including mine www
LMAO BAKUGO'S HAIR đ
Denki thinking stain was cool, another lil tid bit of info in the suspecting he is the UA traitor
Eyy spiderman doing what he's good at! But deku's learned a few new tricks too- oop and he slips lol
WHY IS MINETA STILL HERE?? HE IS A HAZARD TO PRIVACY I SWEAR
Ah time to drop a info bomb. First time we actually get conformation and explanation on nomus, one for all, and all for one
Looking back on all this, I realized just exactly how much pressure there is on deku, like he's being entrusted to defeat this who-knows-how-old villain and he's just 15 like boi
Ah yes, Mt. Lady and Midnight interaction. Mineta fuck off
Huh didn't realize that the ranking thing was actually from midterms, thought that was the actual ranking of the written test. Lmao gotta love momo, we all need that smart friend in our life. Oh I did not notice this lil kiribaku interaction >.> tho that's a good way to make him tutor you www
Monoma has a really interesting way to show his concern for the safety of his people when it comes to the danger 1A attracts, like he said it in a way to insult them but he was also pointing out how if they keep this up they'll be endangering those around them. But they can't really help it tho, so he can't be mad at them for that, just his feelings of rivalry getting in the way as usual
Bakugo at it again with his anger issues and overachieving complex (is that what you call it)
Written exam monologue~
LMAO NEZU JUST CHILLING IN AIZAWA'S SCARF THAT'S ADORABLE
Teaching them that retreating is a valid option is really important, because they gotta learn that retreating can be used as a good strategy to get reinforcements when they're in a fight they can't win. A lesson bakugo really needs to learn
Kiri & Sato vs Cementos. Gotta say, they weren't very smart on how'd they deal with cementos. Like, he clearly has the advantage in this scenario
Tsu & Tokoyami vs Ectoplasm. THE HYBRID DUO!! Bird man and frog girl! "Tho apparently after a 2nd or 3rd song in karaoke, that number goes up.." LMAO WHAT I NEVER NOTICED THAT. Huh, I always thought tokoyami could do the whole fusing with dark shadow the whole time, or maybe that's my gold fish memory failing me. Oh hey! Tsu did actually ate the handcuffs, like it was shown for just a short second. Lmao gotta love dark shadow's personality
Iida & Ojiro vs Power Loader. LMAO OJIRO RIDING IIDA I CAN'Tđ and iida basically being a beyblade and yeeting him too www
Shoto & Momo vs Aizawa. Dawww momo... Her insecurities and doubt be hitting her, damn that's a mood. Oof, yeah aizawa has a point, shoto need to learn better communication with his partner and momo's gotta learn to trust herself again; not comparing herself to someone completely different. YASSS GO QUEEN!! SHOW EM WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF!!! Lmao, shoto no she's just tearing up a lil, she's not sick
Uraraka & Aoyama vs 13. PFFT I DIDN'T REALIZE AOYAMA MADE A PUN. Ah yes, the moment uraraka realized her feelings, thanks sparkle man. "I'm a mini battle hero" lol yes you are
Mina & Denki vs Nezu. God those 2 didn't stood a chance, like what were the teachers expecting. BRUH THEY REALLY JUST CASUALLY MENTION NEZU'S BACKSTORY LIKE THATđ
Jirou & Koda vs Present Mic. OH DAMN THAT IS LOUD, RIP MY EARS. As much as koda's charades were funny, would've been nice to see him doing like JSL or something, like would be in character and some neat representation, oh well this is why we have headcanons. Hey, just cuz koda can speak with animals doesn't mean he has to like all of them
Hagakure & Shoji vs Snipe. Still find it fucking hilarious that this man's quirk is the power of glock, like it's not even an mutation, he just carries a gun. "YOU'RE A STUDENT I RESPECT WOMEN" LMAO SNIPE đđ AS HE SHOULD
Sero & Mineta vs Midnight. I said it before and I'll say it again, why tf is mineta even here, he is a menace and a danger to the safety of the girls, like bruh. If he's gonna be in UA at least show him getting into detention for his behavior. Huh, lil bastard finally gets what being a hero is about, tho he still has a long way to go on the character development, like idk respecting boundaries
HOOO BOY IT'S THE BIG ONE NOW LETS GO
Deku & Bakugo vs All Might. THE MAIN COURSE HAS COME. God dammit bakugo, please I get you wanna win but you can't beat all might, for fuck sake get it in ur head and stop thinking with your ego. Hold up, why does a building have denki's name lmao??? BAHAHA LOL DEKU PUNCHING HIM, BAKUGO DESERVED IT. You said it all might, these 2 really need some counciling like boi. OOF HOW ARE THEY BOTH STILL ALIVE LIKE THAT LOOKED LIKE IT COULD'VE KILLED THEM?! Bakugo is someone that wins the way he wants to win no matter what, and deku is someone that just helps people even if they don't ask for it, this is just who they are. This is why they clash a lot, and a few other reasons. Tho they'll learn to have some equal footing, some day
LMAO deku with his ass up, and damn bakugo looks so peaceful asleep tf??
IT'S FUCKING DABI, hello missing todoroki child (started as a theory and is now confirmed, thanks spoilers) tho gotta say his voice isn't as deep as I remember it
Shopping montage⨠omg mineta PLEASE, WHO INVITED HIM??
Jeez shigiraki's theme song thing is creepy as hell. OH FUCK IT'S THAT CREEPY SMILE HHHH
Hol up it's only been 3 months since class started??? Damn, feels a bit short

Movies I watched in May
Sadly, I kind of skipped writing a post for April. It was a mad month with so much going on: lots of emails sent and lots of stress. I started a new job so Iâm getting to grips with that... and even then, I still watched a bunch of movies. But this is about what I watched in May and, yeah⌠still a bunch. So if youâre looking to get into some other movies - possibly some youâve thought about watching but didnât know what they were like, or maybe like the look of something youâve never heard of - then this may help! So hereâs every film I watched from the 1st to the 31st of May 2021 Tenet (2020) - 8/10 This was my third time watching Christopher Nolanâs most Christopher Nolan movie ever and it makes no sense but I still love it. The spectacle of it all is truly like nothing Iâve ever seen. I had also watched it four days prior to this watch also, only this time I had enabled audio description for the visually impaired, thinking it would make it funny⌠It didnât.
Nomadland (2020) - 6/10 ChloĂŠ Zhaoâs new movie got a lot of awards attention. Everyone was hyped for this and when it got put out on Disney+ I was eager to see what all the fuss was about. Seeing these real nomads certainly gave the film an authenticity, along with McDormandâs ever-praisable acting. But generally I found it quite underwhelming and lacking a lot in its pacing. Nomadland surely has its moments of captivating cinematography and enticing commentary on the culture of these people, but it felt like it went on forever without any kind of forward direction or goal. The Prince of Egypt (1998) - 6/10 I reviewed this on my podcast, The Sunday Movie Marathon. For what it is, itâs pretty fun but nowhere near as good as some of the best DreamWorks movies.
Chinatown (1974) - 8/10 What a fantastic and wonderfully unpredictable mystery crime film! I regret to say Iâve not seen many Jack Nicholson performances but he steals the show. Despite Polanskiâs infamy, itâd be a lie to claim this wasnât truly masterful. Howlâs Moving Castle (2004) - 8/10 Admittedly I was half asleep as I curled up on the sofa to watch this again on a whim. I watched this with someone who demanded the dubbed version over the subtitled version and while I objected heavily, I knew Iâd seen the movie before so it didnât matter too much. That person also fell asleep about 20 minutes in, so how pointless an argument it was. Howlâs Moving Castle boasts superb animation, the likes of which Iâve only come to expect of Miyazaki. The story is so unique and the colours are absolutely gorgeous. This may not be my favourite from the legendary director but thereâs no denying its splendour.
BÄhubali: The Beginning (2015) - 3/10 The next morning I watched some absolute trash. This crazy, over the top Indian movie is hilarious and I could perhaps recommend it if it werenât so long. That being said, BÄhubali was not a dumpster fire; it has a lot of good-looking visual effects and itâs easy to see the ambition for this epic story, it just doesnât come together. Thereâs fun to be had with how the main character is basically the strongest man in the world and yet still comes across as just a lucky dumbass, along with all the dancing that makes no sense but is still entertaining to watch. Seven Samurai (1954) - 10/10 If it wasnât obvious already, Seven Samurai is a masterpiece. I reviewed this on The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast, so more thoughts can be found there. Red Road (2006) - 6/10 Another recommendation on episode 30 of the podcast. Red Road really captures the authentic British working class experience. Before Sunrise (1995) - 10/10 One of the best romances put to film. The first in Richard Linklaterâs Before Trilogy is undoubtedly my favourite, despite its counterparts being almost equally as good. It tells the story of a young couple travelling through Europe, who happen to meet on a train and spend the day together. It is gloriously shot on location in Vienna and features some of the most interesting dialogue Iâve ever seen put to film. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
Tokyo Story (1953) - 9/10 This Japanese classic - along with being visually and sonically masterful - is a lot about appreciating the people in your life and taking the time to show them that you love them. Itâs about knowing itâs never too late to rekindle old relationships if you truly want to, which is something Iâve been able to relate to in recent years. It broke my heart in two. Tokyo Story will make you want to call your mother. Before Sunset (2004) - 10/10 Almost a decade after Sunrise, Sunset carries a sombre yet relieving feeling. Again, the performances from Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke take me away, evoking nostalgic feelings as they stroll through the contemporary Parisian streets. There is no regret in me for buying the Criterion blu-ray boxset for this trilogy. Before Midnight (2013) - 10/10 Here, Linklater cements this trilogy as one of the best in film history. Itâs certainly not the ending I expected, yet itâs an ending I appreciate endlessly. Because it doesnât really end. Midnight shows the troubling times of a strained relationship; one that has endured so long and despite initially feeling almost dreamlike in how idealistically that first encounter was portrayed, the cracks appear as the film forces you to come to terms with the fact that fairy-tale romances just donât exist. Relationships require effort and sacrifice and sometimes the ones that truly work are those that endure through all the rough patches to emerge stronger. The Holy Mountain (1973) - 10/10 Jodorowskyâs masterpiece is absolute insanity. I talked more about it on The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast.
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) - 10/10 Another watch for Grand Budapest because I bought the Criterion blu-ray. As unalterably perfect as ever. Blue Jay (2016) - 6/10 Rather good up to a point. My co-hosts and I did not agree on how good this movie was, which is a discussion you can listen to on my podcast. Shadow and Bone: The Afterparty (2021) - 3/10 For what itâs worth, I really enjoyed the first season of Shadow and Bone, which is why I wanted to see what âThe Afterpartyâ was about. This could have been a lot better and much less annoying if all those terrible comedians werenât hosting and telling bad jokes. I donât want to see Fortune Feimster attempt to tell a joke about oiling her body as the cast of the show sit awkwardly in their homes over Zoom. If it had simply been a half hour, 45 minute chat with the cast and crew about how they made the show and their thoughts on it, a lot of embarrassment and time-wasting could have been spared. Wadjda (2012) - 6/10 Another recommendation discussed at length on The Sunday Movie Marathon. Wadjda was pretty interesting from a cultural perspective but largely familiar in terms of story structure.
Freddy Got Fingered (2001) - 2/10 A truly terrible movie with maybe one or two scenes that stop it from being a complete catastrophe. Tom Green tried to create something that almost holds a middle finger to everyone who watches it and to some that could be a fun experience, but to me it just came across as utterly irritating. Itâs simply a bunch of scenes threaded together with an incredibly loose plot. He wears the skin of a dead deer, smacks a disabled woman over and over again on the legs to turn her on, and he swings a newborn baby around a hospital room by its umbilical cord (that part was actually pretty funny). I cannot believe I watched this again, although I think I repressed a lot of it since having seen it for the first time around five years ago. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 - (2011) I have to say, these movies seem to get better with each instalment. Theyâre still not very good though. That being said, Iâm amazed at how many times Iâve watched each of the Twilight movies at this point. This time around, I watched Breaking Dawn - Part 1 with a YMS commentary track on YouTube and that made the experience a lot more entertaining. Otherwise, this film is super dumb but pretty entertaining. I would recommend watching these movies with friends. Solaris (1972) - 8/10 Andrei Tarkovskyâs grand sci-fi epic about the emotional crises of a crew on the space station orbiting the fictional planet Solaris is much as strange and creepy as you might expect from the master Russian auter. I had wanted to watch this for a while so I bought the Criterion blu-ray and itâs just stunning. Itâs clear to see the 2001: A Space Odyssey inspiration but Solaris is quite a different beast entirely. Jaws (1975) - 4/10 I really tried to get into this classic movie, but Jaws exhibits basically everything I donât like about Steven Spielbergâs directing. For sure, the effects are crazily good but the story itself is poorly handled and largely uninteresting. It was just a massive slog to get through.
Darkman (1990) - 6/10 Sam Raimiâs superhero movie is so much fun, albeit massively stupid. Further discussion on Darkman can be found on episode 32 of The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast. Darkman II: The Return of Durant (1995) - 1/10 Abysmal. I forgot the movie as I watched it. This was part of a marathon my friends and I did for episode 32 of our podcast. Darkman III: Die Darkman Die (1996) - 1/10 Perhaps this trilogy is not so great after all. Only marginally better than Darkman II but still pretty terrible. More thoughts on episode 32 of my podcast. F For Fake (1973) - 8/10 Rewatching this proved to be a worthwhile decision. Albeit slightly boring, thereâs no denying how crazy the story of this documentary about art forgers is. The standout however, is the director himself. Orson Welles makes a lot of this film about himself and how hot his girlfriend is and it is hilarious.
The Mitchells vs. The Machines (2021) - 4/10 More style over substance, Sonyâs new animated adventure wants so much to be in trend with the current internet culture but it simply doesnât understand what itâs emulating. Thereâs a nyan cat reference, for crying out loud. For every joke that works, there are about ten more that do not and were it not for the wonderful animation, it simply wouldnât be getting so much praise. Taxi Driver (1976) - 10/10 The first movie Iâve seen in a cinema since 2020 and damn it was good to be back! Iâve already reviewed Taxi Driver in my March wrap-up but seeing it in the cinema was a real treat. Irreversible (2002) - 8/10 One of the most viscerally horrendous experiences Iâve ever had while watching a movie. I cannot believe a friend of mine gave me the DVD to watch. More thoughts on episode 32 of The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast. Donât watch it with the family. The Golden Compass (2007) - 1/10 I had no recollection of this being as bad as it is. The Golden Compass is the definition of a factory mandated movie. Nothing it does on its own is worth any kind of merit. I would say, if you wanted an experience like what this tries to communicate, a better option by far is the BBC series, His Dark Materials. More of my thoughts can be found in the review I wrote on Letterboxd.
Antichrist (2009) - 8/10 Lars von Trier is nothing if not provocative and I can understand why someone would not like Antichrist, but I enjoyed it quite a lot. After watching it, I wrote a slightly disjointed summary of my interpretations of this highly metaphorical movie in the group chat, so fair warning for a bit of spoilers and graphic descriptions: It's like, the patriarchy, man! Oppression! Men are the rational thinkers with big brains and the women just cry and be emotional. So she's seen as crazy when she's smashing his cock and driving a drill through his leg to keep him weighted down. Like, how does he like it, ya know? So then she mutilates herself like she did with him and now they're both wounded, but the animals crowd around her (and the crow that he couldn't kill because it's Mother nature, not Father nature, duh). Then he kills her, even though she could've killed him loads of times but didn't. So it's like "haha big win for the man who was subjected to such horrific torture. Victory!" And then all the women with no faces come out of the woods because it's like a constant cycle. Manchester By The Sea (2016) - 6/10 Great performances in this super sad movie. I canât say I got too much out of it though. Roar (1981) - 9/10 Watching Roar again was still as terrifying an experience as the first time. If you want to watch something thatâs loose on plot with poor acting but with real big cats getting in the way of production and physically attacking people, look no further. This is the scariest movie Iâve ever seen because itâs all basically real. Cannot recommend it enough. Eyes Without A Face (1960) - 8/10 Iâm glad I checked this old French movie out again. Thereâs a lot to marvel at in so many aspects, what with the premise itself - a mad surgeon taking the faces from unsuspecting women and transplanting them onto another - being incredibly unique for the time. Short, sweet and entertaining!
Se7en (1995) - 10/10 The first in a David Fincher marathon we did for The Sunday Movie Marathon, episode 33. Zodiac (2007) - 10/10 Second in the marathon, as it was getting late, we decided to watch half that evening and the last half on the following evening. Zodiac is a brilliant movie and you can hear more of my thoughts on the podcast (though I apologise; my audio is not the best in this episode). Gone Girl (2014) - 10/10 My favourite Fincher movie. More insights into this masterpiece in episode 33 of the podcast. Friends: The Reunion (2021) - 6/10 It was heartwarming to see the old actors for this great show together again. I talked about the Friends reunion film at length in episode 33 of my podcast.
Wolfwalkers (2020) - 10/10 I reviewed this in an earlier post but would like to reiterate just how wonderful Wolfwalkers is. If you get the chance, please see it in the cinema. I couldnât stop crying from how beautiful it was. Raya and The Last Dragon (2021) - 6/10 After watching Wolfwalkers, I decided I didnât want to go home. So I had lunch in town and booked a ticket for Disneyâs Raya and The Last Dragon. A child was coughing directly behind me the entire time. Again, I reviewed this in an earlier post but generally it was decent but I have so many problems with the execution. The Princess Bride (1987) - 9/10 Clearly I underrated this the last time I watched it. The Princess Bride is warm and hilarious with some delightfully memorable characters. A real classic!
The Invisible Kid (1988) - 1/10 About as good as youâd expect a movie with that name to be, The Invisible Kid was a pick for The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast, the discussion for which you can listen to in episode 34. Babel (2006) - 9/10 The same night that I watched The Invisible Kid, I watched a masterful and dour drama from the director of Birdman and The Revenant. Babel calls back to an earlier movie of Iùårrituâs, called Amores Perros and as I was informed while we watched this for the podcast, it turns out Babel is part of a trilogy alongside the aforementioned film. More thoughts in episode 34 of the podcast. Snake Eyes (1998) - 1/10 After feeling thoroughly emotionally wiped out after Babel, we immediately watched another recommendation for the podcast: Snake Eyes, starring Nicolas Cage. This was a truly underwhelming experience and for more of a breakdown into what makes this movie so bad, you can listen to us talk about it on the podcast.

Hey bb! <3
Youâve quickly became my favorite bakugo writer, how you write him just feels so real to me. every time I see you post something new I get so happy!
Iâm seeing ya write a lot about blasty with crushes and or S/Oâs but not really about how he gets into a relationship so I propose to you how do you think he would realize his feelings and act upon them? If he even would lol heâs so stubborn and awkward with feelings I swear.
Anywho I love you and Iâm glad your blog is getting the attention it deserves!!
hmmm hmm hmm tysm @kits-mania for the ask, this is a good one!! also ahaha i wrote this with tiny baby UA bakugou in mind bc his comedic potential is seriously limitlessÂ
--/--
-ok, to start, so basically, heâs a mess. an absolute mess.Â
-yes, yes, ik, wed all love for him to be like, cool and smooth and suave and spit crazy game but heâs just not that guy. heâs a snarling animal at the best of times and an outright asshole every other second of the day.
-(honestly, if u asked me, the only confession you could ever get that would somehow be more disastrous than bakugouâs would be if u got one from tamaki. and even then, tamaki is a sweetheart so u would 100% be much more forgiving)
-but thatâs not the point, what is the point is that bakugou would just be so weird around u and thatâs how he recognizes his feelings
-lmao like heâll be so ridiculous with his mood swings,,, very yelling at you for breathing one second, bc even that somehow flusters him, n then the next second heâs recommending an extensive list of personalized training exercises (that he devised) for you and telling you to shut up if you try to thank him for it
-and heâll do those things almost without thinking about it. like, heâs already impulsive, we been knew, but for this?? pls he absolutely cannot control himself. heâll just keep accidentally doing nice things, that heâd never do for somebody else, and he knows this. but then he also feels like heâs gotta act like a dick to cover the strangeness up
-and after being rude, to save face, bakugouâll be in his head totally âman, iâm the best at this. i bet they donât even know i fuckinâ like them!â n like, yeah, heâs right, you 100% donât, but everyone else around him does.
-very obvious to his friends how quiet he is when you come up. like, heâll say shit about everyone at any given time, but when you come up in conversation?? absolute crickets from him. (this is bc bakugou wants to keep his mouth shut, to avoid suspicion obvi, but in doing so he almost doesnât seem like an asshole. n when bakugou isnât acting like a dick thatâs when you know somethings up)
-so, those two things combined,,, the mood fluctuation and uncharacteristic behavior make it pretty clear to himself that heâs got a crush. now, donât get me wrong, heâs gonna be clueless on how to do anything about it, but bakugouâs not dumb. heâll realize his feelings pretty quickly after they form
-now, for the acting upon his feelings part- whew boy. talk about an embarrassing turnout
-basically, heâs not gonna do shit at first. heâll recognize his feelings and he doesnât want to be a wimp about them, but he also kinda just wants them to go away. so heâll wait it out. bc itâs embarrassing.
-but if that doesnât work, and he really does just have one hell of a crush,,, then all heâll be able to do, at first, is work up the courage to finally not be an asshole,,, using little gestures that include but are not limited to:
1.) offering you a pencil when you lose yours. alright, alright, ik, very small, but this is bakugou alright?? mans doesnât give up anything unless somebody tries to kill him for it and somehow manages to succeed
2.) letâs u copy off his school work/homework etc. obvi not all the time, but if ur in class, at the very end of a test, n he sees you looking over, bakugou will just sit there. he wonât put his arm over his work. not like he would if it was anyone else but you
3.) when you ask him things, heâll answer. and thereâs a pretty good chance he wonât tell u to fuck off at the end (what a miracle)
4.) will probably try his best to avoid exploding/hitting your face during training exercises. now ofc, if u get paired up with him for sparring, rip say ur prayers, bc he will by no means go easy. bakugou doesnât even know the meaning of going easy. but he will keep his punches and burns away from ur face. probably also tries his best to only explode you thru the fabric of ur costume. so you donât end up with burns (what a gentleman. not.)
5.) if you drop something on the ground in front of him, and heâs closer to it then you are, heâll pick it up for u. u know, like a normal person for once.
-okay so as u can see, those things, which are very big for bakugou, are tiny. so tiny. and no other person is going to see those regular-human gestures as romantic interest bc why would they???Â
-see what i mean by embarrassing?? pls i love him but come on man
-but anyway, heâll do that for a while. like probably up to a full month tbh
-and the entire time heâll just be pissed bc ur not getting it. so heâll keep doing those little things more often in the hopes that youâll finally understand, but ofc u dont
(sidenote: bakugou having a crush is rlly funny to me bc if any of the bakusquad asked you what you thought about him all uâd have to say is âidk? normal? heâs whatever?? what is this question about?â bc his gestures are so small. so small that they just read like normal person behavior, and thus you have no significant opinion about him. and thatâs just v comedic to me bc the absolute shock on their faces when u say that? pls theyâre like âY/N we cannot deal with either of you anymore. bakugou is not normal to people??? obviously he likes you!! why do you not get it?!!!â)
-but n e wayz, yeah heâll continue with the little shit for a while and then just impulse confess
-pls bakugou is 0-100 or not at all,, so heâll be completely content in his weird behavior until one day heâs just fed tf up with you.
-like ur walking around with a nice outfit and your hair done up,, just 100% living normally, but for whatever reason the sight of you that day accosts him. just pisses him off bc he likes you, a lot, and itâs embarrassing
-so he just impulse confesses right there in the heat of his anger. very âjesus fuck, you really went ahead and did it now, idiot. you really fuckinâ piss me off. iâve been busting my ass for weeks now, beinâ fuckinâ nice as shit to you, and youâve got nothing to say? just gonna walk around like that, on purpose, and keep fuckinâ quiet?â
- n you just â....?âÂ
-and heâll roll his eyes and huff and probably clench his hands into fists and âi like you. dumbass. fuckinâ obviously.âÂ
- and suddenly you just âoh.â bc now itâs very clear to you how much of a relatively ?pleasant? person he is around you and how much that contrasts with the absolute asshole he is to everyone else
-pls ik everybody says heâs a pomeranian but like, no, seriously he is. heâll pick one person to like and act normal around,, but to everyone else?? pls guard ur ankles he will bite tf out of themÂ
so, in conclusion, bakugou with a crush is an embarrassing but oddly endearing affair. very much a guy who fumbles all the way to the finish line, but he doesnât give up. not ever, and especially not when u piss him off sm (read: fluster him sm) just by being yourselfÂ

Nanami Kento Alphabet
Note: Is is my first ever piece so please be gentle ;__;!! I wanted to start off with a template before I jump into writing fanfics. I hope you like it and I hope itâs not too boring! Â
Pairing: Nanami Kento x f!Reader
Warning:Â NSFW after the cut
________________________________________________________________
A= Aftercare (what theyâre like after the act)
- He would try to stay inside of you for as long as possible.
- If in missionary, he would lean in and place his forehead on yours.
B= Body part (favorite body part their own or their lovers)
- Nanami absolutely loves your waist. It's where he places his hands to pull you in for a hug.
- it's also where he grips when you're on your knees and he wants to go in deeper (usually when he's close to the end). If you're on top, he tends to rest his hands their and enjoy the ride.
- Nanami's also an ass man so reverse cowgirl is a must. This man loooooves to see you in a pencil skirt.
Cum (anything that has to do with it)
- Absolutely has an edging/cum denial (both ways) and breeding kink.
- If he had a long day at work, he'll ask you to dom and edge him. He loves how intense the orgasm is afterwards.
- Will usually only edge you as punishment if you won't stop teasing him during work (if you end up working together that day). He loves to see you cum so edging you is also teasing him in a way.
- Nanami produces a good amount of cum. A little more than average.
D= Dirty secret (Pretty self explanatory)
- Really wants to make a homemade porno one day but doesn't know how to ask. You both usually handle missions on your own. Sometimes you're separated for a few days and the nights feel lonely. During times like those, Nanami would rather watch you enjoying yourself then looking at random women on the internet (makes him feel guilty). Heâs currently unsure what he would love more, seeing you pleasure yourself while calling out to him, or seeing himself satisfy you. It embarrasses him quite a bit.
- He also would not be opposed to a threesome with you and Gojo but will NEVER admit it.
E= Experience (do they know what theyâre doing)
- Nanami has had only 1 serious partner in the past but has slept with 2 others since then. Everything has been pretty vanilla prior to you. You're his 2nd serious partner.
- With you though, he loves to try different things in the bedroom, whether watching porn together, using a new toy, or trying out a new kink. He's never done stuff like that before with his previous partners. Nanami trusts you and feels very comfortable going into different territories with you.
F= Favorite position
- Nanami has two! Remember how he's an ass man? He loves it when you're face down flat on your stomach with your ass slightly in the air. He loves the way your ass bounces when he drives into you. Because of his size, you always have a pleasurable tightness for him but the way this position makes you feel even tighter (and makes him feel even bigger for you!) drives him crazy. It's one of the few positions that makes him lose his rhythm quickly.
- Being the hopeless romantic he is, Nanami loves missionary. Being able to see how you react with every trust? Drives him crazy. He's a big fan of kissing as well and you'll usually end up making out during this position. He loves the way your kisses change as he shifts speeds and roughness during missionary and he usually uses your kisses as a guide for what to do next. Your kisses are getting sloppy? He slows down his pace. Are you nipping at his lips impatiently? He roughens up a bit. Â
G= Goofy (how serious are they)
- During sex Nanami is very attentive to your wants and needs. He takes your pleasure very seriously. That being said, he is much more relaxed around you than he usually is around others. Heâs playful and loves to grab and tease you whenever he has the chance to. He will hug you from behind and whisper sinful things in your ear.
H= Hair (grooming habits)
- Have you seen his hair? This man loves to keep himself well kept. Nanami doesnât like going hairless down there but he does like it to be clean and short. He doesnât want hair getting in your way if you go down on him.
I= Intimacy (in the moment romantic or rough/dirty)
- LOVES KISSING. Absolutely loves kissing during sex. Will try to kiss you in any position possible. When he canât kiss you, he praises instead. âYou feel so good Y/N,â or âyouâre doing so well taking me all in like thatâ are common phrases for him.
J= Jack off (do they masturbate and how often)
- Before meeting you, he would masturbate about once a day after work.
- After meeting you though? He would masturbate about 2, maybe 3 times a day. Nanami was so smitten with you since the beginning that you canât help but tease him for it. He would always think about seeing you strip for him and the different positions that he could try.
- Since getting together with him, masturbating now only happens if he or you go off on a mission and your hours do not coincide.
K= Kink (kinks what they like possibly unusual)
- Edging (both ways), breeding kink, dom (both ways, he is a switch). Goes crazy when you call him Sir.
- Honestly you brought out the breeding kink from deep inside him. Nanami would subconsciously push himself deeper and linger within you after cumming inside you. You noticed this after a few times and decided, during a particularly steamy session, to ask him to âFill me upâ and that drove him crazy. Â You brought it up afterward if he had the kink. Now after he researched what it was, he absolutely loves to put you in a mating press during his needier days. What drives him crazy is seeing his cum leak out of you and then pushing it back inside with his fingers. âDonât want to waste anyâ he will usually say.
L= Location (where they like to get it on)
- Absolutely anywhere inside your shared apartment. Nanami is not a fan of getting it on in public spaces and loves the comfort of home.
M= Motivation (things that makes them tick/turn ons)
- Seeing you in tight fitting jeans or skirts really turns him on. The way it hugs your curves. 10/10 for him.
- Instant hard on when youâre needy and you initiate. Loves to verbally tease you if you are particularly horny and donât want to be teased. If you start to command him to do things in this state, he will always call you princess. âMy, arenât you needy today princess. Youâre wish is my command.âÂ
N= No (turnoffs or absolutely wonât do)
- Not into heavy bondage, absolutely no knife play or anything that he would consider dangerous. You both face death every day, why bring it into the bedroom?
- Also, not into strong verbal humiliation. He loves you too much that it leaves him feeling awful afterwards.Â
O= Oral (receiving or giving and how skillful they are)
- After practicing with you, heâs a 15/10. It took him a few sessions to get it right but with your guidance, Nanamiâs able to have you screaming within minutes now.
- Nanami loves when you go down on him. The sight of you taking him in as far as you can go, seeing you slightly struggle for the remaining length, ugh, he has to stop himself from forcing your head down on him repeatedly.
P= Pace (how fast they are and how long they last in bed)
- With foreplay and everything, usually takes around 40-60mins. Nanami loves to take his time with you. He makes sure you cum twice during foreplay to prepare you for his length.
Q= Quickie (do they prefer fast and hard)
- For sex, there are no quickies. Like stated above, he wants to take his time with you.
- But if he is really in need and there is a time constraint, oral is the best way to go with him. You can have him undone in a few minutes.
R= Risk (do they like to try new things)
- Absolutely will try new things with you if itâs not one of his turn offs. He will try things at least once. If itâs something you both like, usually it becomes the obsession for the whole week before you both move on to another thing to try.
S= Stamina (how many times they can go and how long each round lasts)
- Nanami naturally has a lot of stamina. Just comes with being a grade 1 sorcerer. Before you, he would normally go one round and be satisfied.
- However, you brought out a mega breeding kink within him.
- He can absolutely go for 2, maybe 3 rounds if youâre both horny enough. Heâs considerate so he wonât go a second time unless youâre ok with it (but come on, you are always ok with it). Each round becomes rougher than the last. With the amount of cum he produces, you thank the stars that youâre on birth control. This man can populate a whole village.
T= Toys (are they game for using sex toys on themselves or lovers)
- When he is the dom, Nanamiâs go to strategy is to tie you to a chair, gag and blindfold you. He will tape vibrators on your clit and leave a dildo vibrating inside you and just go for a walk for an hour or two before he comes back to see what a sopping mess you are, trying to repeat his name over and over from under your gag, drooling all over yourself.
- If you are the dom, he loves when you put a cockring on him. It frustrates him during the session, but the orgasm is amazing for him after he removes it.
U= Unfair (how do they tease or do they enjoy suspense themselves)
- Loves teasing both ways. Obviously if either one of you doms it will be more intense (see above).
- During regular sessions his favorite thing to tease both of you with is by having you sit on his length, your back to his chest, and him holding a vibrator to your clit. You both donât move the entire time and the only feeling is of your walls squeezing his cock. This teases you both, however you tend to break first by grinding against him after your second orgasm.
V= Volume (are they loud, what sounds, and do they talk)
- He praises you all day every day. He loves to whisper in your ear during foreplay and will absolutely try to coax orgasms out of you this way.
- He does moan but isnât very loud. His moans are usually small groans and exhales.
W= Wild card (random sincannon of any sort)
- Nanami is the type of person to buy you random lingerie and toys when he is out on longer missions. You need a whole separate trunk for all the stuff he has bought for you over the years.Â
X= X-ray (whatâs down below in dem pants)
- Nanami is pretty girthy. It takes you a few seconds to adjust to him every time you have sex. He always makes sure you are well prepared to take him. Foreplay is a must with him!
Y= Yearning (sexdrive level)
- Surprisingly high. Nanami is very well disciplined and doesn't tend to let his thoughts wander during work. That usually translates into him being extra grabby with you afterwork. With an evenly matched sexual partner, sex will be plenty. With a partner of lower drive, he will be considerate and not ask for anything. But youâre so attentive that even if youâre not up for pure sex, you will totally get him off orally. Get ready for some nightly escapades!
Z= Zzzz (do they sleep after if so how quickly after)
- Because sex with you normally only happens at night (very rarely during the day, unless you are both off from work), both of you formed a habit of showering together after sex, then cuddling in bed together. During weekdays, you both fall asleep within 10mins of jumping into bed because work starts early for the both of you. During weekends, you and Nanami tend to stay up talking about little things. About a show you want to watch, or a new dish he wants to try making.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
Back to the second game we go for The Return of the Great Departed Soul! (Part one, this is another two-parter case)
Episode 2-3: The Return of the Great Departed Soul
So now, chronologically, six months have passed since The Unspeakable Story. Susato returned to Japan at the end of the first game and hasn't returned yet. Ryu was reprimanded for all the perjury and the questionable McGilded defense, so he had his right to stand in court revoked for now and instead had to focus on studying English law some more. He's done so quite patiently and now he feels he's ready to return. He just needs to get Stronghart's permission first. Meanwhile, the Great Exhibition is happening in Hyde Park, pulling in visitors and scientists from all over the world. Exciting! (S)Holmes hands Ryu a newspaper with an article on the exhibition, talking about how the brighter things shine, the darker the shadows cast behind them. By now, Ryu is fluent enough in (S)Holmes speak to know this means he should flip over the newspaper. There, we find an article of an entirely different sort.
So not only was Van Zieks apparently attacked, Ryu shows horror and concern at the notion. No hard feelings from our wholesome boy! (S)Holmes explains that London's finest criminals often find ways to get acquittals from trials through bribery, threats, sham witnesses... We saw this in McGilded, of course, so we know all too well how dangerous that can get. But since the Reaper and his curse are immune to such tactics, when a ringleader or fellow ends up being 'taken' by the curse, retaliation can occur. So it's established that this isn't the first time Van Zieks has been attacked by a group of thugs. Fortunately, Van Zieks is an âaccomplished combatantâ who doesn't take these attacks lying down. Unfortunately, the thugs were carrying guns this time. Uhoh.
This warms my heart, it really does. Van Zieks has been a terrible scumbag, but Ryu doesn't think he's gotten his comeuppance at all. He's genuinely concerned for this man and intends to find out more about his condition. So since he was planning to meet with Stronghart and ask for attorney permission anyway, it's the perfect opportunity to also ask about Van Zieks! Iris decides to tag along because she wants to visit the Great Exhibition. Let's shove the newspaper in Stronghart's face as soon as the game allows it.
The phrasing of ânumber one prosecutorâ is interesting, but then... We never learn of any other (living) veteran prosecutors in this country, so of course Van Zieks would be number one. Stronghart says there's no need for concern; Van Zieks would not be so easily dispatched. Street ruffians are no match for him, since he's a very capable fighter. Seems like that sword he carries around isn't just for show after all. As for why he was attacked this time... Well, a month ago Van Zieks prosecuted a leader of a criminal organization. Nice to know he didn't just return to retirement and instead got back to work like a normal person without cherrypicking his cases based on what Ryu's doing. The defendant was acquitted, no doubt thanks to large sums of money being shifted around behind the scenes, but he still met a dramatic end just yesterday during an accident at the Great Exhibition. The man in question was Odie Asman, and the one now being detained on suspicion of murder without a defense attorney is Professor Albert Harebrayne. Albert's case has just been assigned to Ryu, so we're sure to find out more about Asman as we go. As as final touch, Ryu asks Stronghart why he continues to use Van Zieks as a prosecutor. Since the criminals are becoming fearful of the curse and attacking him, it's dangerous to Van Zieks himself. Stronghart explains that he has two reasons: Firstly, Van Zieks is the best prosecutor in the capital, bar none. And secondly, any deaths that have occurred outside the courtrooms after his trials have nothing to do with him. (S)Holmes alluded to the same thing, saying that Van Zieks had a rock-hard alibi for each and every mysterious death.
âSo he will continue to prosecute on behalf of the Crown. ...Unless he wishes otherwise, of course.â With that, Stronghart admits he needs to get going since he's already 11 hours late to his next appointment (fsdkjfls). Ryu asks where he might be able to find Van Zieks and is told to head to his office. So even after being told that Van Zieks is just fine, Ryu is still concerned and wants to discuss the matter with the man himself. Let's gooo! Naturally, the first thing out of Van Zieks's mouth when he catches Ryu and Iris in his office is to wonder what the heck they're doing here.
So there's several things of interest in the office, with the game automatically addressing the biggest one: Van Zieks has an apprentice now! It's a mysterious, rigid dude wearing a hood and a mask who is absolutely not familiar to us, nope. We don't know him. Gosh, what a mystery. Van Zieks doesn't seem to know who he is either, instead just referring to him as his apprentice and nothing more.
Ryu sees this as an opening to ask about the attack on the Reaper that was in the newspaper. Van Zieks admits that he too is very interested in the true identity of the Reaper. âAssuming, that is, such a fabled fiend genuinely inhabits our great courtrooms.â The conversation halts for a moment so we can examine the office and this is the best opportunity for humanizing traits we've gotten so far, so LET'S DO IT! The enormous portrait in the back is the first thing to peek at.
Iris says whoever painted it exaggerated the subject's handsomeness, which in turn is reminiscent of Napoleon ordering the painter to make him look more attractive. That's super vain and not an attractive quality in a person at all. I laughed the whole way through that bit of dialogue and Van Zieks, who was in earshot the entire time, gets his feathers ruffled.
When Ryu asks who it is then, Van Zieks doesn't reply. BACKSTORY ALERT! Examining the chalices and bottles on the left leads to Van Zieks explaining the hallowed bottles are filled with the finest grapes from the finest vineyards he visits (so it is grape juice!!!) and he personally oversees the chalices being made by the finest crystal craftsmen in the world. Right, so not only is he filthy stinkin' rich, he's a perfectionist. Iris points out that Van Zieks throws the chalices and bottles around like they're worthless, to which Van Zieks says:
âBefore you open your mouth next time, you should consider the poor artisans whose work you defile.â
As it turns out, passive aggression is contagious now. Ryu replies with a âSo it's my fault? Silly me! How could I ever have thought otherwise?â and honestly I love that he's got enough guts to say this out loud. Our boy is growing a spine. Examining the wine casks has Ryu and Iris theorize about how there might be dead bodies in there, which once again ruffles Van Zieks's feathers.
Snrk. Examining the big diorama in the middle of the room has Ryu and Iris wonder whether Van Zieks can't go to the Exhibition in person and this is his way of dealing with that, which has Van Zieks snap that it's obviously an investigative aid. Â He even has pets of sorts in his office, in the form of a couple of bats hanging from the curtains. Alright, so the game's definitely humanizing this poor man now. No matter how many crazy stories Iris and Ryu come up with about him, there's usually a very innocent explanation to debunk the eerie myths. Something particularly interesting happens when Ryu shows Van Zieks his defense attorney armband. Van Zieks asks what the reason is for showing it to a British prosecutor, to which Ryu admits that he doesn't quite know. Van Zieks is silent for a bit, then says that he understands. âThere's merit in reminding yourself of who helped you become what you are today.â
As he says it, he reaches for his prosecutor's badge and if you're aware of the backstory, you'll know he's thinking of Klint. More importantly, this conversation puts Ryu and Van Zieks on the same level. Ryu is always thinking of Kazuma, who 'helped him become who he is today' and the armband signifies this, along with the sword. Similarly, Van Zieks lost someone very close to him and he's walking the path of prosecutor in his brother's memory. Ryu thanks Van Zieks for understanding and it's very significant that Van Zieks understands in the first place. Remember, in the first game he was under the impression that a Japanese person could never understand a British person and vice versa.
Showing Van Zieks the newspaper article has him looking a bit embarrassed, pointing out that a reporter must've been nearby and he'd been careless to let himself get photographed. Either way, all the thugs responsible have already been apprehended. The investigation into Odie Asman's activities meant that their arrests were already imminent anyway, and some hoped to kill Van Zieks before that happened. Much like McGilded, Asman used his wealth to buy his way towards an acquittal in court, but âhe got his comeuppance in the end.â Which is strange, right? Very suspicious. Van Zieks asks whether Ryu believes he has some sort of divine ability to make an accident like that happen. Ryu admits that would be far-fetched, and thinks to himself that even if Van Zieks were the Reaper, he'd have to be innocent of this particular death. We also learn that Van Zieks is familiar with Professor Harebrayne, the suspect in the Asman incident. When told that Ryu will be taking on the defense, Van Zieks is shocked.
Van Zieks goes on to explain that he knows Albert quite well. They were at university together. While he's lived in Germany for quite a few years, Albert is actually from a respectable British family. And despite Albert being in the science faculty and Van Zieks in law, they got along quite well. Now he's in pretty hot water for that Asman accident.
Hm. I don't quite know what to make of this reaction. I think what's going on here isn't that Van Zieks is rattled because Albert is being defended by a Japanese person, but because he's being defended by a rookie attorney who was just disbarred for six months for accidentally encouraging perjury, false witness and crime scene tampering in a court of law. Yes, Ryu has won his trials every single time, but it came at a price. Aside from this, there's one other thing Van Zieks knows about Ryu: he'll pursue the truth, no matter what. This means that if Albert indeed didn't succeed at inventing teleportation, it'll be revealed in court because exposing shams is Ryu's whole deal.
We learn that Van Zieks will be the one to prosecute Albert tomorrow, which is curious to say the least. Ryu wants to know why he'd do something like that, with Iris pointing out that so long as the Reaper is the prosecutor, Albert is doomed. Van Zieks replies that he's a Crown prosecutor and a mortal like any other; he's no demigod. In other words, he doesn't believe the curse to be a real curse. Iris points out that everyone who's been prosecuted by Van Zieks has died (which is already objectively wrong), to which Van Zieks replies that he usually prosecutes the vilest wretches of society.
⌠Harsh. Ryu points out that Soseki wasn't a vile wretch though, with Iris chiming in that Gina's also turned her life around and she's working very hard now. Van Zieks admits that things have changed ever since meeting Ryu- which of course has to do with Van Zieks's need to face Ryu in court even in mediocre trials rather than pursue his usual corrupted targets- but the point is that if any of those vile wretches died in mysterious circumstances, it was âat the hand of their own kindâ, not Van Zieks's. So basically, he believes that they were killed because they were dubious people engaged with dubious activities, not because of the Reaper's curse. Not only that, but ever since the rumors of the Reaper began, the number of serious crimes in London has decreased significantly. Even the most hardened criminals can be made fearful of their lives. Therefore, if his pseudonym of the Reaper can serve a useful purpose, he'll âadopt it gladly and with honourâ. Ryu repeats that which he already told Stronghart; that it's putting Van Zieks in danger.
He really is a prosecutor on the edge with nothing to lose, huh. So what Van Zieks is basically saying is that he doesn't care if he dies, so long as he spends the rest of his life serving the 'useful purpose' of carrying the Reaper moniker to intimidate the vilest of society. But is that really all there is to it? (Spoilers: It's not)
There's a bit more talk about the mysterious apprentice here, with Van Zieks explaining the man was placed in his care under Stronghart's orders. He's wearing a mask on Stronghart's orders and also doesn't speak to anyone from outside the office on Stronghart's orders. HM. Van Zieks claims that Stronghart isn't one for âmeaningless folliesâ, therefore he must have a good reason. This implies that Van Zieks believes in Stronghart's judgment almost blindly. To round up the conversation, Van Zieks asks about âthat Nipponese man. The one arrested twice in succession six months ago. With the stoop. And the moustache. And the jitters.â Looks super offensive at first glance, but I gotta admit, after six months I wouldn't remember Soseki's name either. Better to describe him than to guess the name and get it wrong. Still though, just because it's not super offensive doesn't mean it's not offensive. Just saying âthe one you defended six months agoâ would've done the trick. Either way, Ryu says he's doing just fine and a letter from him arrived by post just the other day.
So this is interesting. Earlier, Van Zieks claimed in his own words that he doesn't believe in the curse and those who died had it coming to them, but he's still inquiring after Soseki. Perhaps not so much because he's worried about Soseki himself, but because he's curious whether this man has successfully escaped the curse so far. He would know that for a fact about Gina, but the only way to verify Soseki's status is to ask Ryu about it.
Time to leave this glass cage of exposition and meet the defendant in person! Albert spouts a whole lot of dialogue about how his machine is treated differently depending on whether the case is treated as an accident or as murder. If it's murder, it can be examined up close and that's what Albert doesn't want. It has to be treated as an accident so that it'll be protected from prying eyes through The Special Dispensation for Scientific Equipment Act (wow that's a mouthful). Of course, that's not entirely what we're interested in. Let's ask about his friendship with Van Zieks! Ryu asks what he was like back in his university days and the answer surprises him.
HAH, wonderfully written exchange, this one. Albert goes to describe him as âthe little darling of the Van Zieks family, with all its great aristocratic originsâ. So Van Zieks has some very noble blood in him. We could've already guessed this from his title of Lord, but apparently it's a bit more serious. I could derail here with wild theories about his family originating from the Netherlands and having migrated to the UK around the time the first king of the Netherlands, Willem I van Oranje Nassau, rose to power in 1813. Willem changed the way nobility works to some degree in the country and not all noble families would've agreed with his way of doing things. But anyway, point is, Van Zieks is a big shot. Albert says that it was kind of a shock to him when he came back to Britain and discovered 'what Van Zieks had become'. He heard that there was 'a very big event' that completely changed Van Zieks after his graduation, but doesn't know what it was because he was already in Germany at the time. So here we have some more traces of that backstory and we have enough pieces to start sticking some things together. We know Van Zieks was once betrayed by a friend and we now know he was a very modest, pleasant gentleman when he was young. Whatever happened must've been very harsh indeed to turn him into such a sour lemon. Either way, Albert doesn't seem to know yet that Van Zieks will be the prosecutor and Ryu doesn't have the heart to tell him.
So let's investigate the crime scene! Here, it's confirmed that Gina Lestrade is indeed just fine and now in training to become a detective with Gregson. Cute! So eventually we get to talk to Gregson about Van Zieks and how he's acquainted with Albert. Gregson is overdramatically shocked to find out that the two of them are old buddies.
Remember when Van Zieks took a five year hiatus and nobody had to mysteriously die from the Reaper's curse? Those were the days, eh Gregson? Now he's even prosecuting his own friends willy-nilly. Gregson states he has no idea what goes on in Van Zieks's head  (a sentiment we've heard before in 1-4) and goes on to bring up the newspaper article about Van Zieks being attacked. When told that our good old pal the Reaper is just fine, Gregson utters a very uncomfortable âglad to hear itâ which honestly had me wondering whether he'd preferred Van Zieks to die.
Up until a certain someone gets killed and stuffed into a suitcase, I'd reckon. Gregson says that Van Zieks is a top class prosecutor, but not even he can always push the right verdict through. âSometimes justice can't win.â Gregson explains that naturally, Scotland Yard suspected Van Zieks at first and assumed he was taking matters into his own hands. There was a very thorough investigation and the outcome was that Van Zieks was in no way related to the mysterious deaths. So that's three people now who all insist Van Zieks couldn't possibly have committed the murders. Gregson says he's willing to stake his reputation on it, even. Of course, Gregson would know for sure, wouldn't he? But the narrative is telling us over and over that Van Zieks himself isn't the Reaper, with even Van Zieks himself implying he'd like to know just who the Reaper is. There's a conspiracy happening that Van Zieks is the centerpiece of, with the narrative really pushing the mystery aspect of it. The writers want us to care about the truth of the Reaper for sure.
OOOH that's meta! Ryu, being nosy and overly invested in Van Zieks's life, asks Gregson whether he knows about the 'incident' which changed Van Zieks after graduation.
Okay he clearly knows. Even a first time player can tell from this single reaction that Gregson's lying. The mystery thickens! At the end of the conversation, when Gregson's gone off, Iris recommends asking (S)Holmes about it instead. Safe bet, since (S)Holmes continuously knows more than he's letting on. To the house of wax we go! When asked about it, it's clear that he does know something (and is described as suddenly clamming up), but before he can explain there's a distraction in the form of Madam Tusspells and we have to sit through a mostly-unrelated Joint Reasoning segment. It leads into a conversation about a mass murderer known as the Professor. Ten years ago, there was a series of murders which rocked the capital right around the time Van Zieks graduated from university. Five people were killed before the man was caught and executed. This fifth victim was Klint van Zieks, Barok's older brother.
I really, really dislike this phrasing because Van Zieks was already studying law to begin with. He'd just graduated as a prosecutor; his brother's death had nothing to do with him pursuing that path. Anyway...
OOOH that's meta! So remember way back in the first essay when I said the backstory is optional? Well, here it is. The Great Ace Attorney is going all in for it. It's being tied to the ongoing plot, just as pretty much all the main prosecutor backstories are. Edgeworth's backstory is tied to Von Karma being the final boss, Godot's backstory is tied to the Fey lineage, Klavier's backstory (I say this lightly) is tied to Phoenix's disgrace... Now Van Zieks's story is tied to the serial killer who ruined so many lives a decade ago. And technically, we already have all the puzzle pieces we need for the next twist; we know Van Zieks was betrayed by a Japanese person who was his friend. So really, we can now say with absolutely certainty that the man arrested and executed back then was a Japanese buddy of Van Zieks.
The investigation segment is pretty much over, but the game has one more scene for us. This is something Ryunosuke won't witness, but the scriptwriters deemed it so important that we're ignoring Ryu to focus solely on the two characters involved. And cutting away from our main character is something that usually doesn't happen in Ace Attorney. Even when characters like Phoenix or Ryu are out of commission for whatever reason, a new 'main character' takes over for a second and we see everything from their point of view. I can think of only one other scene viewed without Ryu there, which happened in 1-5 just before Susato had to leave London. So what we have here is a very private moment between Van Zieks and Albert.
AWWW... The scenes in the office were great and all, but this right here is perhaps the most humanizing exchange we'll ever see with Barok. The reason for that, I think, is precisely because Ryu isn't there. He's alone with an old friend now, which means he can let his guard down more than he usually would. Even so, it's worth noting here that he doesn't look directly at Albert. He stands with his back to him the entire time and I'm certain this is intentional, because they could just as easily have rotated him into that sideways view that's often used in dialogue and courtroom scenes. He made his way down to the gaol to speak with his friend after ten long years, but is reluctant to look right at him. The conversation itself feels rather distant as well. Albert is delighted to see Van Zieks, but the sentiment isn't returned vocally. Van Zieks points out that they're meeting again âin prison of all placesâ and that the court will decide Albert's fate tomorrow. When Van Zieks raises a warning, Albert says he already knows his friend will be prosecuting and doesn't appear bothered at all at first. He does try to raise a question in the form of âAre you really...?â, but ultimately drops it and says that he knows Van Zieks has his best interests at heart. Van Zieks says he wouldn't entrust the trial of his friend to anyone else, and Albert thanks him for that. So my first guess upon taking in that dialogue is that Albert wonders for a brief moment whether Van Zieks really is the Reaper/really is cursed, only to shake it off because he considers the man his friend. Van Zieks seems to know it's risky to prosecute Albert, but deems it more important to handle the case himself than to let someone else do it. This, as we learn later, has to do with the Special Dispensation for Scientific Equipment Act and the protection of Albert's scientific secrets.
Next day, we're at the Old Bailey! In the defendant lobby, Ryu is once again told by Albert that the true goal to aim for in this trial is to protect his scientific hypothesis. So hypothetically speaking, the ideal outcome here would be to prove the death was accidental and that the kinesis was a success at the same time. (S)Holmes and Iris don't believe Albert's theory to be sound though, instead saying it couldn't possibly be done. In the courtroom, Ryu faces off against Van Zieks once more for the first time in six months! The judge is quick to point out that Odie Asman is a name familiar to him; a man who was prosecuted only a month ago by Van Zieks. When he asks whether this death is the work of the Reaper, Van Zieks instead describes it as âdivine retributionâ, but also âa direct result of the actions of the accused, Professor Albert Harebrayneâ. The prosecution asserts that the instantaneous kinesis demonstration was a success. He himself can't say for certain whether it's a sound theory, but it's being investigated by the British government since it was deemed to have potential and the prosecution's case aligns with the notion that there was indeed instantaneous- You know what? Let's just call it teleportation. That's easier to type.
Unfortunately, Van Zieks doesn't want to follow the accident angle. Instead, he outright accuses his old friend of murdering Asman using the totally-functional-teleportation-machine-which-totally-worked to be the sole benefactor of a scientific grant. Harsh. Very harsh. I don't entirely understand why he didn't pursue the accident angle instead, but then, I don't quite know enough about law. My guess is that as the prosecution, he's not allowed to. Scotland Yard found enough evidence at the scene to substantiate a murder plot, especially that damning screwdriver that Ryu so graciously handed to Gregson, so that's what the prosecution has to go with, maybe? It's up to the defense attorney to debunk that down to an accident, then, so in essence Van Zieks is counting on Ryu to 'defeat him' and prove the murder aspect wrong. It would align with the conversation Albert had with Van Zieks in prison, where he said that 'it was a terrible accident and the young Eastern man acting as his defence assured him that he can prove it'.
So speaking of that screwdriver, Albert tries to discredit it himself by saying that if he had stabbed Asman on the stage, there would've been a whole lot of blood. Van Zieks pours himself a glass of wine and 'congratulates' his friend on a good rebuttal.
âHere's to you, Albert!â
Albert laughs it off sheepishly, saying he's nothing compared to âBarokâ (awww, first name basis), but a chalice is immediately flung. Van Zieks says Albert neglected to mention one crucial possibility, which is that the lack of blood is explained by the notion that the screwdriver remained in the victim's chest to plug the wound. Therefore, since the demonstration was totally a success, the screwdriver was teleported along with the victim. Ryu thinks to himself that he had no idea the victim had been stabbed and wonders whether Van Zieks kept that information to himself to keep the upper hand on purpose. This whole thing jars me a little, because the screwdriver is brought up relatively early in the trial during the very first cross-examination. Is not mentioning it during the opening statement and waiting for Gregson to bring it up three minutes later really the same as 'keeping it to himself to gain the upper hand'?
Either way, Ryu counters, saying that the screwdriver was found at the stage and therefore didn't teleport at all, with Gregson serving as an official witness to this location. It's pretty clear from the next dialogue that Gregson never told Van Zieks where that screwdriver was found.
âThat you contravened the Special Dispensation for Scientific Equipment Act?â
Gregson is immediately up in arms, but it's fine. There was no investigation needed to find a screwdriver lying in plain sight. So now Ryu decides to tighten the screws. He claims that if the prosecution can't explain the inconsistency (the screwdriver being found on the stage but no blood being there so clearly it must've plugged the wound), the testimony is unreliable. Van Zieks doesn't reply and Ryu thinks to himself that he looks stumped, but uh...
He just looks annoyed to me. The person to object next is not Van Zieks, it's Albert. He says that metal can't be teleported with the machine, so it only makes sense the screwdriver stayed behind and there's no inconsistency at all. Van Zieks suggests: âClearly we should hear the accused's explanation. ⌠Or should I say, this brilliant scientist's explanation?â And I think here in these two sentences we have the crux of the issue. Albert wants to be treated as a legitimate scientist above all else. Even if that means he's branded a murderer, so long as his hypothesis is protected and the confidentiality stands, it makes no difference to him. This was likely discussed with Van Zieks the night before as well. Albert is apparently willing to die for the sake of his scientific principles and... Well. I'm sure Van Zieks can understand. He's willing to die for the sake of serving the Reaper purpose. In a way, this means the defendant and the prosecution are in cahoots together, which is another first in Ace Attorney history. The two of them are fighting to keep the hypothesis of teleportation intact and if Ryu manages to prove that it was an accidental death, then great! Unfortunately, the second that screwdriver was discovered, the chances of that became slim to none. It was murder, plain and simple. On a sidenote, I found this little gem:
I'm counting this as humanization, because the underlying sentiment here is that despite his haughty better-than-thou attitude, Van Zieks is still friends with someone so very scatterbrained, his name is forgotten sometimes. Even Ryu is taken aback by the purity of the friendship.
Heh heh... Time to cause some more havoc by informing the court that Asman's metal-rimmed glasses were still on his face and since Albert already said metal can't be teleported, his hypothesis is a load of tosh. The jurors go up in arms about it, saying the machine should be stripped down and examined. The game gives Ryu the option to either raise an objection or 'wait and see', but this is another one of those fake choices. Waiting and seeing just leads to a bit more dialogue between the jurors before Ryu steps in of his own accord. He says Albert would have no reason to build such an elaborate fake machine and put on a public display for murder, but Van Zieks counters with the very good reason: Money. The jurors are even more outraged, calling him a fake scientist who's only in it for the guineas, and Albert begs them to believe that his science is built upon a sound hypothesis. Van Zieks comes in to 'save the day' (sort of).
âThe fact remains that the victim was transported instantly to the Crystal Tower. Which means that the experiment... was a success.â
And I gotta say, this next bit is just very enjoyable to me. The way it's written is so great.
HEH HEH.... Van Zieks has some more witnesses to summon who saw the incident from some 'very special seats', but let's end the essay here for now and pick it back up next time!

1!
Eliasâ fingers find the zipper on the garment bag, and I place my hand gently over his. His hand shakes under mine, and although I know itâs mostly excitement, I can tell he's nervous as we slowly pull down the zipper together.
As the garment bag falls away, my heart stops. There is no way this is happening, not right now! Eliasâ hand drops from mine as he steps back slightly, as the people around me seem to let out a collective gasp. Tears burn my eyes, and before I can stop them, theyâre falling down my face. This is NOT what I expected.
âKinsey?â Eliasâ voice is nervous, likely because Iâve yet to react to the scene in front of me. The jersey was not pink, or blue. In fact it wasnât even a jersey at all. In place of the jersey we had all been anticipating, was a white onesie with red lettering across the front.Â
My hands at some point made their way to my face as Iâm now using them to hold in the ugly sobs wracking my body. The tears in my eyes blurring the words in front of me, but it doesnât matter, because Iâll never forget them. Iâll never unsee them. The five words that changed my life.Â
WILL YOU MARRY MY DADDY?
âBaby, turn around. Please?â Elias' voice is gentle when he speaks, but it sounds loud in the intense silence that has settled over everyone.
I slowly turn around, my knees feel weak, my vision is blurred, and my entire body is trembling. Itâs a miracle Iâm still standing, and even breathing for that matter. When Iâve finally turned around completely, my whole world stops. Elias slowly drops down on one knee, and as he looks up at me with those beautiful blue eyes no one else is here. Itâs just him and I at this moment. A nervous smile on his face as he slowly pulls open the velvet box I hadnât even noticed until now, I lose it. I collapse to my knees in front of him, arms wrapping tightly around his neck and as I cry into his shoulder.
âLast time I checked Iâm the only one supposed to be on their knee for this.â Elias chuckles, and the room around us does the same, reminding me we arenât alone. I lean back to look at him, but donât let go. His face is blotchy, and his eyes are bloodshot as tears stream silently down his face. âKins, you amaze me more and more each day. Youâre an amazing woman, girlfriend, mother, and there is absolutely no question that youâd make the best wife. So, if you donât mind, Iâd like to make you mine. Kinsey Waters, will you marry me?â
âR-really?â The word is choked out in between breaths, as I search his face for hesitation.
âYes!â He chuckles, lifting the ring up in front of my face. He shakes it teasingly, eyebrows raising as if to say âwould I be lying?â.
âYes.â The word tumbles past my lips, and I canât stop it. Not that I want to. âOh my god! Yes!â The squeal that escapes me is quickly drowned out by the cheers surrounding me, as I gather Eliasâ face in my hands and crash my lips to his.
I cling to Elias like I donât want to let go, grasping at his shirt, his hair, anything to ground myself. The kiss, the moment, this man; itâs all so overwhelming. I never want it to end.Â
As it turns out, not everyone is on board with that. âOkay! Okay! Thatâs enough, can we please find out about the baby. There will be time to fornicate after weâre all gone!â Brock yells from behind the camera, as more laughter fills the apartment.
Elias groans in response, but pulls away. I smile brightly as he slips the ring onto my finger, and for the first time I actually look at the ring. Itâs simple, not too flashy, and yet I know if I saw the receipt Iâd likely vomit at the price tag. Itâs elegant. Itâs everything Iâve ever dreamed of and so much more. âItâs perfect.â I breathe out, and Elias chuckles. Bringing my hand to his lips he places a gentle kiss to my knuckles before rising to his feet, helping me off the floor in the process.
âPlease tell me you have the actual jersey somewhere.â I giggle, catching Brock tapping his foot impatiently out of the corner of my eye.
âI do, one sec!â Elias quickly leaves the room, and Iâm immediately swarmed by the other WAGs and Brock. Brock is quick to zoom in on the ring with the camera, as he makes commentary that is definitely not needed, but something Elias and I will both enjoy when we watch the recording back later.
âOkay! â Elias announces, as he makes his way back into the room. âAre you ready for the real thing?â Heâs now holding an identical garment bag to the one we had unzipped minutes prior, and I canât help but wonder just how difficult this whole surprise was to pull off.
Elias removes the first hanger from the stall, and replaces it with the new garment bag. He motions me over, a large grin on his face, as everyone goes back to where they had previously been standing.
Eliasâ hand finds mine again, as we both grip the tiny zipper. It feels different this time. Maybe itâs the ring sitting on my finger, or maybe itâs just the adrenaline coursing through my veins. As the countdown begins around us for the second time today, I become more and more impatient.

1!Â
My stomach flutters, and I canât bring myself to look as Eliasâ hand moves with my own to pull down the zipper. Instead I watch him. His eyes bright as they seemingly shimmer with excitement. Heâs so beautiful, and heâs mine. My fiancĂŠ, and the father of my child. The new weight on my ring finger, and my round stomach physical proof of just that.Â
Almost instantaneously, I feel his hand fall from mine and it finds his face, along with the other. He falls again to one knee, but this time he cries into his hands as everyone around us erupts into cheers. The moment feels absolutely surreal, and overwhelming, and I have yet to even look at the tiny jersey in the garment bag. It doesnât feel like it matters, not in this moment anyway. The only things that matter are that we are happy, life is good, itâs pink, and we are a family. Itâs pink.
Immediately my eyes snap back to the now open garment bag that my eyes had previously skipped over. The tiny jersey hanging before me was a tiny replica of the one I was wearing. Itâs pink alright. Itâs a girl.
As I turn back to Elias, his arms wrap around my waist as he begins whispering against my stomach. Again, all of his words muttered in Swedish. All I can make out is âI love youâ, and âmy girlsâ, and even without understanding any of the other words, my heart swells and tears wet my cheeks again.
I card my fingers through his hair, the beautiful ring standing out even more against the blonde. Cameras and flashes, along with many cheers and exclamations of âI knew it!â, fill both the room and my heart. This is it, the family Iâve always craved. Although it may not be conventional, itâs mine.Â
âââ
The movie Elias is playing on the tv does little to hold my attention. Not even because itâs bad, in fact itâs one of my favourites, but my head is all over the place today.Â
âEverything okay love?â Elias asks, eyebrows furrowed in worry when I look at him. I nod, but itâs evidently not enough for him to believe me. âTalk to me Kins.â He continues, pressing pause on the movie, removing my only form of distraction.
âShe doesnât have a name.â Iâm deflecting, and Elias knows it. Instead of pressing the issue further though, he smiles sweetly over at me. Iâm stretched out comfortably across the majority of the couch, my legs draping across his lap. His hand lightly rubs my thigh in comfort.Â
âWell did you have any in mind?â I shake my head stretching my hands over my growing bump, my ring on full display. Elias clears his throat, and I can tell he wants to say something, but he looks nervous. âWhat about your mom?â
âWhat about her?â My response is unnecessarily rude, but his question caught me completely off guard. Heâs been trying for months to get me to talk about her, and Iâve successfully shut him down every time.
âDid you maybe want to incorporate her name?â His eyes refuse to meet my own, instead they stay fixed on his fingers that are busying themselves with the hem of my sweats. The scoff that leaves my mouth is dramatic, sure, but Iâm beyond pissed heâd even make that suggestion.
âWhy would I? Sheâs done nothing for me.âÂ
Eliasâ face falls, and his eyes meet mine. The look of pity he sends me would normally make me feel better, but today it makes me even more angry. âIâm sorry, I just thought-â
âYeah well you thought wrong didnât you!â I snap, cutting him off as I rise to my feet. I stand up too quickly, and immediately I feel light headed. My knees buckle a bit, and my vision goes fuzzy momentarily. Elias is quick to his feet, hands finding my waist to steady me.Â
Once my vision is back, and I feel steady again, I push away from Elias. He calls after me, but I just keep walking.Â
Itâs not his fault, and Iâm being dramatic. As soon as I step into our shared room, I know Iâm out of line. Itâs embarrassing, my whole life is. How can I tell someone, like Elias, who loves their mom dearly, that when I think of the woman who gave birth to me, the thoughts arenât pleasant. Very little about my childhood was. Yes, I sound ungrateful, and to a degree I am. There were always good times, always. However itâs hard to look back fondly on those times, when almost all of them are plagued with heartbreak or disappointment in some form or another.Â
As I close the bedroom door behind me angrily, I pull off my sweats and crawl into the empty bed. Though Iâve slept without Elias many nights given his schedule, the bed has never felt so lonely. Tears soak my pillowcase, but my body barely even reacts. No dramatic sobbing, or trembling. I just lay here, numb, tears flowing steadily.
After what felt like forever, but was likely only a few minutes, the bedroom door creaks open. I donât dare to acknowledge Elias as he closes the door behind him quietly. I lay silently, my back to him, as he removes his shirt. The covers pull back, and I feel the bed dip as he climbs in behind me.
We both lay there silently for a moment, neither of us moving. Only a few inches separate us, but they feel like miles. I canât take the silence, or the fact that I can practically hear the gears turning in my fiancĂŠâs head.
âIâm sorry.â I mumble, sniffling slightly. Elias lets out a breath, before wrapping himself around me. He places a gentle kiss to my head, letting his hand travel under my shirt to rest on my bare stomach.
âMe too.â He whispers into my hair. âI shouldâve known, I just thought because it was a tradition, that maybe youâd want to. I didnât mean to upset you Kins. Iâm really sorry.â His voice shakes a little, but he takes a breath again to steady himself before adding, âI love you.â
Before I can even respond to him, it hits me. I sit up quickly, and Eliasâ arm falls into my lap. He pushes himself up on his elbows, eyes widening with concern. âAdeline.â
âWhat?â He is obviously confused, and I canât blame him. I just ignored his entire apology to blurt out some random name.
âAdeline Irene Pettersson. Addy for short.â I pause, suddenly feeling embarrassed by my wave of excitement. âI donât know. What do you think?â I pray the nerves arenât apparent in my voice. Picking a name for a person is a big deal, it has to be perfect.
âAdeline.â Elias repeats the name out loud thoughtfully. The name rolls off of his tongue beautifully, and I canât fight the smile growing on my face. âKinsey, I think itâs perfect.â
Elias rolls onto my legs, his face resting just in front of my stomach. I lean back, and run a hand through his hair.Â
Placing soft kisses to my stomach, Elias once again whispers to the baby. âAdeline, you have the most amazing momma. She loves you so much. Probably more than she loves me, and thatâs a lot.â I canât help but giggle softly at his words, despite the tears in my eyes. âYouâre so loved, and we cannot wait to meet you.â
I smile down at Elias, a single tear slipping down my face. He returns the smile, but it quickly falls as my eyes widen in shock. âSheâs kicking!â I practically scream, grabbing Eliasâ wrist, bringing his hand over to where I had just felt our daughter kick. He waits hopefully for more movement.Â
Moments pass, and still nothing. âCâmon Addy, do it for daddy.â I plead, my heart breaking at the disappointment on Eliasâ face.
As if she had actually understood the task sheâd been given, the baby kicks even harder than before. Her foot jams hard into my stomach, right against her fatherâs waiting palm. The feeling, although still relatively new for me, was an entirely new experience for him. His eyes nearly pop out of his head, jaw practically hitting the floor.Â
âA daddyâs girl already?â I giggle, another tear slipping down my cheek. âThere is no hope for me now.â
Elias shakes his head, and glances up at me briefly. His eyes find mine for just a second, with a smile on his face he looks back at my stomach. âYouâre not going to be a daddyâs girl or a mommaâs girl are you Addy?â He whispers, as the baby kicks again as if in response to his question. âYouâre gonna be your own girl. Strong and independent, just like your momma.â
Elias fell asleep like that a while later. Head resting on my hip, a hand on my stomach, while my hands threaded through his soft hair. Life is good. I have a family now, and I would do anything for either of them. âI will make sure you never question my love for you both. No one deserves that.â I whisper before drifting to sleep myself.
âââ
âShit!â Something hitting the floor loudly, followed immediately by Elias cursing wakes me. Iâm quickly on my feet and rushing down the hall. I had been asleep on the couch, having passed out while reading some parenting book. So, when I round the corner into our bedroom, Iâm confused to find it lacking my fiancĂŠâs presence.
âElias? Where are you?â I call out, fear lacing my words.Â
âIâm in here sweetheart.â He calls back. I follow his voice further down the hall to the guest room.
As I reach the doorway of the guest room, the scene in front of me has a giggle bubbling up my throat. Elias is on the floor, surrounded by various tools and wooden pieces, a frustrated, and thoroughly exhausted look painting his face. âEverything okay in here?â
âWha- oh yeah.â He huffs, tucking a pencil behind his ear. Heâs holding two identical pieces of wood in either hand, letting out another noise of frustration.Â
âWhatcha doing?â I place the back of my hand over my mouth trying to suppress my laughter, though my smile is audible in my words.
âWell.â He groans, placing both pieces down before pulling himself to his feet. âThe plan was to have the crib together before you woke up from your nap.â He walks to me placing his hands softly on my hips. âThough, as you can see, that hasnât happened.â
âWell the instructions canât be that confusing are they?â I smile, and his face falls slightly. âYou did use the instructions. Right?â Eliasâ cheeks darken, and his eyes fall to his feet.Â
âI thought I could do it on my own.â He mumbles, and there is no stopping my laugh now. He frowns in embarrassment, as I do my best to catch my breath.Â
âBabe! The instructions donât do it for you, they are a guideline for you to do it. On your own.â I explain shaking my head with a giggle, and pushing past him into the room. I quickly find the instructions crumpled into a ball on the floor. I unfold it, and read through it quickly.Â
âWell?â His voice hopeful, as he watches me inspect the now crinkled paper.Â
âYeah I have no idea.â I sigh, leaning against the wall. âTime to call in the boys I think.â
âââ
âWho thought it was wise to let the three of you do this?â I giggle, placing three beer down on the dresser.
âYou?â Quinn answers, eyebrows furrowed in confusion while Elias sends me a glare.Â
âOh right. Well Iâll just blame my poor judgement on the pregnancy.âÂ
Elias is obviously getting quite flustered about the whole process. He curses in Swedish, while poor Quinn sits beside him looking scared for his life. Brock finally finishes screwing two pieces together, and beams over at me before grabbing a beer. âThanks Kins!â
âYouâre very welcome Brock.â I place a hand on my stomach and make a point of talking dramatically. âSee Addy? Thatâs why uncle Brock is our favourite.âÂ
âAddy?â Quinn and Brock both ask in unison.Â
âAdeline. Addy for short.â Elias explains, with a smile bright enough to blind someone.
âWhat do you guys think?â I ask, pulling my lip between my teeth. Sure, we donât need anyoneâs approval, but their opinions are very important to both Elias and myself.
âItâs cute!â Quinn smiles at me.
âCute?â Brock sends Quinn a look I could only describe as a mix between shock and disappointment. My heart rate increases. Great Brock hates it! âIt's absolutely beautiful!â
The sigh of relief that leaves my body has all three men laughing. I canât help but join in, as the three of them begin bickering over the next step in the crib building process. They are always so chaotic, and yet I love every second of the chaos. This baby will likely learn all kinds of trouble from Brock and Quinn, but I certainly wouldnât want it any other way.
âââ
As my pregnancy progresses, Elias becomes more and more doting almost daily. Not letting me lift anything bigger than a book, tying my shoes, helping me get dressed, you name it and heâs done it. Honestly, itâs become slightly annoying. On nights like this though, I truly appreciate it.Â
Elias sits on one end of the couch, as I lay across its length, my feet in his lap. He rubs the balls of my feet, as I write in the wedding planner heâd purchased not long after our engagement. He smiles softly at me, as I chew the end of my pen deep in thought as I stare at the guest list.Â
âHow many groomsmen do you want?â The question falls past my lips as he reaches over to pull the pen from between my teeth.
âWell, definitely Iâd want my brother as my best man, and probably three more guys. To keep it even just how you like it.â Elias winks, nudging my leg with a chuckle. I roll my eyes, but smile anyway, because heâs absolutely right. Even numbers are always nice.
âOkay.â Four people is reasonable, but now I have to find a maid of honour and three bridesmaids. That shouldnât be hard, but I have no idea who to ask. Holly for sure was a given, but beyond her I wouldnât even know where to start.Â
âAre we inviting your parents?â Eliasâ question comes entirely out of left field, and it feels like someone punched me in the throat. Were we? Do I want to? Should I? They only know about Elias from a singular instagram post. They donât even know about the baby.Â
Elias must see the gears in my head turning, because he sends me a soft smile. âWhy donât we make invitations for them, and you can decide later if you want to send them or not? No need to let it stress you out too much babe.â
Reluctantly I agree. Would I regret not inviting them? Would I regret inviting them?
âââ
Iâve spent the last week making the invitations, painting each by hand. Was it crazy to do? Yes absolutely. I know that, but I want them to be personal.
âHave you even moved since I left?â Eliasâ voice startles me. He left some time ago for his morning practice, at that point I had already been up working on them for an hour. He chuckles as I shrug, and places a kiss to my temple. âYouâre crazy.â
âAnd yet, youâre going to marry me.â I tease, sticking my tongue out at him.Â
He places a sweet kiss to my lips, pulling away with a smirk. âWho told you that?âÂ
Rolling my eyes, I shove a hand playfully into his chest. âWell you donât have to, but if I just spent a whole week making these invitations and there isnât going to be a wedding,â I pause sending him a âthreateningâ glare. âYou better run Pettersson.â
Throwing his head back, Elias laughs heartily. Hand clutching his stomach, as he struggles to catch his breath. âYouâre adorable.â He manages to get out between laughs.
âGreat, so youâll drop these off at the post office on your way to the rink later.â Punctuating my request with a wink.Â
A groan leaves my body as I pull myself from the chair at the kitchen table. Elias is quickly by my side in aid, no longer laughing. His face twists in concern, hands finding my hips. âDonât worry babe, Iâll drop them off. Now come nap with me?â He doesnât wait for an answer. Instead he wraps a hand softly around my wrist, pulling me gently in the direction of our bedroom.Â
I canât argue. Instead I follow him, body aching from how Iâd been sitting at the table all morning. Elias carefully pulls back the covers, rearranging my pillows, and strips down to just his sweats. I quietly thank him as I attempt to get comfortable, something thatâs become increasingly more difficult as of late.Â
Climbing in behind me, Elias pulls me into his side and places a hand gently across my growing bump. âYou going to let Momma rest Addy?â He asks softly, eyes already closing. I watch him closely, and a small smile forms on his face as he rubs gentle circles on my stomach.
âYou know watching someone sleep is kind of weird.â His voice is gravely and my face flushes in embarrassment.
âI wasnât-â
âMhm.â His lips quirk up into a smirk, eyes not opening once. âGet some rest babe.â
âFine.â I grumble, placing my head on his chest. His breathing evens out, and his heart beat is steady in my ear. I place a hand on his chest, curling into his side the best I can given the fact my stomach is in the way. My fingers lazily trace patterns across his bare chest, eyes beginning to feel heavy.
âLove you Kins.â Eliasâ voice is low, and I can hear how tired he is.
âLove you too Lias.â
Itâs not long before Elias is snoring quietly beneath me. Everything feels so right, here in his arms. Like nothing bad could happen. With the feeling of ease settling into my bones, it isnât long before Iâm falling asleep too.
âââ
Somehow I managed to sleep through Elias getting up and getting ready. When I finally wake up, he is long gone.Â
Picking up my phone, my face lights up at the message displayed on my screen.
Eliasâ¤ď¸: I let you sleep. You needed it. Donât worry though, the invitations were mailed. There is some pizza in the fridge for you if you want it. See you tonight xx
I respond with a quick thank you text, making sure to wish him luck with his game. Grabbing some pizza I settle into the sofa, and turn the game on.Â
Watching Elias play hockey always manages to put a smile on my face. Heâs so incredibly talented, and extremely humble. Itâs one of the many things I love about him.Â
No matter how important hockey is to him though, he always makes sure I know that our family is more important. Always. Itâs the reassurance I never knew I needed, but Elias has always made sure itâs there without being asked.
âââ
Lazy Sundays have become somewhat routine for Elias and I. We wake up, Elias works out while I write, we eat breakfast together, and we spend the rest of the day working on our own things. Today has gone a lot like that.Â
Currently Iâm editing some of my writings while Elias scrolls through Instagram from his spot beside me. Aside from the clicking of my keyboard as I type, and an occasional chuckle from Elias, the room is peaceful. That is until there is a knock on the door. âBabe can you answer that please?âÂ
Elias hums in response, pulling himself from the couch. We arenât expecting anyone, but itâs not uncommon for one of the boys to drop in, or to have someone trying to sell us something on a Sunday. So much to my surprise itâs a womanâs voice at the door, asking for me specifically. âIs Kinsey here?â
Elias walks back into the living room, a look of confusion on his face. âThere is someone at the door for you babe?â His statement sounds more like a question, and has my heart rate increasing. Who could be at the door looking for me? What happened?
Setting my laptop on the coffee table, I pull myself awkwardly from the couch. I take a moment to adjust my tshirt and fix my hair before rounding the corner. The figure standing in the doorway, has me stopping dead in my tracks. My face pales, as my body goes rigid. This must be some sick joke.
Grasped in her hand is an envelope. One I recognize well, because I had sealed it weeks ago. I knew making that invite was a bad idea.Â
âMom?â
âââ
Another cliff hanger? Why not? Let me know what you think! Part 4 is going to take some time, but I will get it out eventually I promise!

03. bang chan ; 2chan / 5189 words
public sex, unprotected sex, crempie(ish...?), unprotected sex, female reader, itâs a quickie but i didnât really write it like one
parts: 01 ; 02
a/n: my 1 whole minute google search looking up how to say changbin & chan đ also, ahh, this took a surprising turn.
1:00 pm, statistics class, and you absolutely dreaded it.
chan walked beside you, his eyes darting between you and the almost empty hallway of the math and science building. he looked somewhat nervous, but not nervous enough he appeared timid and shy.
according to his previous research, one that lasted for about two weeks, you would be getting grumpy starting right about now. and so far, he was able to conclude the reason behind your mini-bursts of temper tantrums: seo changbin.
ever since that night at the party, the one where you hooked up with changbin and never told him who you were, you had been avoiding him.
not in a sense where you were avoiding him in hopes that he would leave you alone because he would never look for you for anything. you were avoiding him in an attempt to keep yourself from thinking about him because he has been all you could think about.
you actively ignored his existence. not looking at him despite wanting to spare a glance during a boring lecture, not walking the path he does so you wouldn't get a chance to be near his vicinity, not thinking about him when you were touching yourself at night and trying to relish in the feeling of having him inside you.
it felt like an obsession, almost. it was unbelievable how much changbin has consumed you with just one night. if you close your eyes, you could still feel his plump lips on your neck and his bulky arms under your fingers. and you hated that, you really hated that. you thought getting off with only your vibrator was hard before, but oh, nobody prepared you for this.
you didnât know changbin would be that good, and you had no idea that your preset fondness for him would take that secret affection, along with the sex, to a whole new level.
âheââ
âthis is all your fault!â you huffed before chan could finish his sentence, snapping your head to his direction and cranking up your neck slightly to look at him.
âyes, iâm sorry.â chan nodded and clamped his mouth shut after the defeated apology.
he had no plans to argue with you, he tried that the first time you decided to get unreasonable with him and he completely lost the argument with all of his dignity lost. it was truly one of the worst arguments you two have had in the many years of your friendship, at least for him it was the worst because all he did was stand there while you brought up the weirdest thing to insult him.
he could remember everything, each one a little arrow to his poor, fragile heart. how heâs an idiot, how heâs the worst best friend, how you hate him for dragging you to the party that night, and possibly the funniest of it allâthat his dick is small.
that didnât hurt him as much as the other ones did because he knows you were wrong. and you would know if you had just asked him politely during that dry spell you had.
âgosh, i canât stop thinking about him at all! this is crazy, i hate it!â you hissed as you ran a hand through your hair, scratching your scalp and pulling at your roots angrily before letting your hand fall to your side. âi literally cannot go one night withoutâugh!â
chan looked over at you, his brows raised faintly at your dramatic reaction.
he was in disbelief when minho picked you and changbin back in the party, and he definitely did not miss the mischievous glint in minhoâs eyes when he made direct eye-contact with him after he locked both you and changbin in the closet.
minho looked playfully spiteful, like he knew the secret chan was hiding layers beneath his opened heart, like he knew chanâs affection for you went beyond what one would call a best friend.
and he was in even more disbelief when the party was over and he was driving you home, then you started to really open up to him about everything that happened in the closet. your explicit words filled in the noises he heard from outside (those damn noises! the door banging and your scream of changbinâs name!), giving him a vague image of you fucking a man he had replaced his silhouette with.
it had taken him all the strength he has not to show you how turned-on he was the entire car ride. even though you just kept sighing about how good his friend was, which was ultimately weird but he thought he was more jealous and annoyed than weirded out. and he was so sure he could do better if you just give him the chance to prove it.
he wasnât able to ask you so straightforwardly back then, considering how smitten you were with changbin just because of having sex with him once. granted, you did use to think of him during your midnight rendezvous, which was a detail chan really wished he hadnât known.
he enjoyed nothing about this aside from the fact that you had asked him to help you avoid changbin so he would never find out you were the girl in the closet.
and chan did exactly that, happily as well. he has beaten it out of changbinâs head that you were not a candidate of choice and he wouldnât have to take another glance at you. lo and behold, changbin really didnât, and that has caused you so much distress because you wanted him so bad.
and chan was forced to hear you complain about it, it was so damn infuriating for him. he couldnât take one more second of you whining about how good changbin fucked you that night.
âwhat if i make you forget him?â chan blurted that out far too quickly for his mind to fully process his words. by the time he was able to understand what he said, though, instead of fussing over it in embarrassment, he only turned to you with all seriousness in his eyes.
you took a moment to take in his insinuation. you wondered what he meant by making you forget changbin; did he mean he would take you out on a fun date? like somewhere in the middle of a roller-coaster ride where youâd scream so hard at the thrill of a drop that you temporarily forget about changbin. or did he mean something else? something else that still involves you screaming so hard that youâd forget about changbin. Â
âi can make you forget him,â he pressed on suddenly, taking a closer step towards you.
you stumbled back in shock, your eyes widening in panic amusement as you looked up at chan. you could only find a pair of intense eyes staring back at you, anticipation and desire burning behind those hooded brown eyes. they shone so prettily, you couldnât look directly into them, so you glanced away as a nervous giggle left your lips.
âchan, whâwhat are you talking about?â you stuttered, your eyes shaking at the proximity he closed off between you two by taking another step closer.
âyou know what iâm talking about,â he hushed, leaning closer to your ear. âyou donât have to beg for it, just thought i could have helped.â
you shivered at those familiar words, your mind bouncing back to the conversation you had with him before the closet game started. so your assumption was right, he was aiming for the second option, he was talking about sex. your mind zapped blank at the mere idea and you found yourself losing your voice when you opened your mouth to speak.
chan, chan⌠it would probably be a phenomenal experienceâfuck, hold on, no, wait. chan has been your best friend for years. he was always so kind and patient with everyone he meets, and he was possibly one of the hottest men youâve ever met in your life.
it was a miracle that he was your friend at all, so would you really run the risk of destroying this friendship just because you were horny and was trying to get over somebody else?
ânothing is going to happen to us, (name).â as if reading your thoughts, chan was quick to mutter to your ear words of reassurance. âi asked you for this. if anyone should be scared of losing something, it should be me.â
your sight was blurring the more he leaned close to you. his nose touched yours at some point, and he nudged forward to he put pressure against the bridge. your lips were almost touching, you could feel his breath reverberating around the entrance of your lips and your skin went cold.
âonly twenty minutes until class starts, (name),â he said, pulling away slightly so he could look into your eyes better. âlet me help you. you will look into changbinâs eyes later and only see me.â
oh, that sounded very tempting. but surely, the most tempting aspect of this would be the man standing in front of you. and you wanted to.
before you could speak, a small commotion erupted at the start of the long hallway. a group of students walked past, chatting and laughing amongst each other. classes were slowly getting dismissed one by one, and soon thereâd be more people scattered along the hallway, waiting for their next class. if you wanted to start, youâd better start now while you could still make some noises.
âbut where are we gonnaââ
chan flashed you a small grin. that sounded like an agreement to him but he would definitely be asking for it more down the line. for now, he grabbed onto your forearm and looked up, his eyes scanning the hallway for the room numbers.
stopping when he found your statistics class, he hummed in satisfaction when he saw that the room was pitch black inside, and he quickly dragged you along with him.
he pulled you inside the dark classroom and left your side so he could close and lock the door. as soon as he turned around, he reached his hands out to your face and moved closer to you, simultaneously tugging you towards him.
you stumbled, your hands flying up to his arms to steady yourself just as your lips crashed against each other.
your heavy breaths resonated with each other as you kissed each other fervently. he shrugged off his backpack and let it drop to the floor, same as you slowly let go of your bag to place it near your feet. none of you wanted to let any interruptions stop whatever you were doing, your eyes closed and lips hot against each other.
his calloused hands found their way to your jaw carefully, and he held your head in place so he could take the lead. he could feel your fingers slowly dragging across his back, trying to find something to hold or to tug on. they moved up, running along the back fo his neck to his head, and you flipped off his cap so you could thread your hand through his hair.
oh, this was nothing like you have imagined before, simply because the real thing could never compare to the vivid scenarios you overplay in your head. his lips were so soft, much like changbinâs small but plump once. but chan felt to have much more control over the situation, understandably as he wasnât blinded like before.
chan slid his hands off your jaw after a while, gliding them down your body and stopping at your waist instead. then he walked, slowly bringing you backward until the back of your thighs hit the teacherâs table located in the middle. he squeezed the side of your waist when he heard you groan, and his arms flexed lightly as he hoisted you up to sit on the edge of the table.
finally getting the willpower to pull away from you, chan panted heavily to compensate for the long minute of him seemingly withholding his breath. he was kissing you, someone who he has been so fond of for way too long.
as soon as his lips touched yours, that was all he knew how to do; he couldnât even remember to breathe through his nose, he just focused so hard on mapping out the shape of your mouth.
âare you okay with this?â he asked, his voice low and hoarse.
he tilted your face up, his thumb caressing your cheek. you looked at him, your heart palpitating against your chest in newfound excitement. and he was staring straight back at you.
there seemed to be a mutual understanding of this situation; his tenderly fond gaze revealing a silent confession, the rubbing of his thumb at your skin spilling an unspoken promise that he would take good care of you, that you wouldnât have to worry at all.
it made your heart swirl into chaos. it was a different feeling than when you were stuck in the closet with changbin. back then you were excited to be able to have sex with someone, albeit the person is one of the many people you have a crush on. but you couldnât see changbin then, nor did you know him the way you know chan now.
the butterflies flew more rapidly in your tummy and the flutter of their wings wafted against the skin of your ribs crazily. it sent you tingles all over your body, you never wanted to be away from chan.
âi think we should be quick, we donât have much time left until class starts,â you mentioned, looking pointedly at him.
chan huffed out a laugh in response, his head dipping low as his eyes quirked into crescent moons. âwell, thank god you are wearing a skirt today then,â he muttered, running his hand up your bare thighs and disappearing under the fabric of your pleated skirt. âsave us the fuss of having to take things off.â
âi do have safety pants on, in case you donât realize that,â you hummed, rolling your eyes slightly before you felt his hand reach all the way up to the waistband of your skirt.
his fingers tugged through the band as he tried to pick out the hem of your safety shorts, and you helped him out by shifting your weight when he pulled it off your legs with a swift yank. it dropped to your ankles and you arched your feet to shake them off to the ground, flinging them a little farther away from where he stood.
chan pushed you down onto the empty desk, an amused smile on his face when you yelped in surprise, your legs immediately spreading apart to let him scoot closer to the table. his fingers danced along your inner thigh before they finally reached your clothed heat, his hand slightly trembling in enthusiasm when you sighed at the featherlight touch.
his mind blanked out for a moment there, needing some extra time to process how this was really happening. albeit not at the most ideal location and he was limited by a ticking timeframe, being able to get so intimate with you was basically a dream come true to him. his yearning for you was finally going to be satiated for once.
âgod, who would have thought iâd be doing it in my stats classroomâmm, woah, okay,â your sentence got cut off mid-way when you felt chan press his thumb against your clothed clit, pressing a jolt into your body and causing your brain to short-circuit quickly.
you laughed slightly in embarrassment, finding your reaction less than appealing despite it being more than he could ever ask for. but your laughter could only last for a brief moment before a blissful sigh left your lips. your eyes squeezed shut at the feeling of him moving your pantie to the side and slipping his middle finger inside.
oh, that was exactly what changbin did. flashes of the dark closet met your eyes as chan pumped his fingers in and out of your heat, flashes you felt guilty thinking about at a time like this. the man hovering above you wasnât changbin, you had to remind yourself, and you opened your eyes just so you could look up at chan.
his hair was tousled from when you shifted your fingers through them when you kissed, and his eyes were focused on your every movement. the way your features scrunched and contorted with each pump of his finger, a prideful sight for him to look at until you suddenly opened your eyes to look at him. there was a moment of solace, just a brief moment, and then his hand slowed down as realization hit him.
âyouâre thinking about him,â chan muttered.
you sighed, giving him a timid nod to confirm his assumption. and thatâwell, that was a new kind of soreness he has never felt in his chest before. he wanted to explode; the unreasonable anger stuffed inside of him, the jealousy churning in his chest that his friend not only got to fuck you first but he stayed in your head every single fucking day, the sore loser in him that so firmly believed that he could do so much better.
chan didnât want to take it out on you, he really didnât. but oh heavens, he was so tired of associating changbin with you.
âthatâs fine,â he said with a nod, pulling his finger out of your cunt and reaching for his pants. he released the button and unzipped it, shrugging it off his thigh quickly before proceeding to tug his boxers down just enough for his cock to spring out. âyou wonât be thinking about him when iâm finished with you here.â
if the setting was different, he would surely have his way with you however he wanted. he would make you squirm for much longer, and he would make you beg like a fucking whore for him before he decided you are good enough to have his dick pound inside of you. but this would be quick. this has to be quick, unfortunately for chan.
he was rather confident in himself, though. he would like to think if changbin could do it blind-folded, he could definitely do it with both of his eyes open. not to mention, being able to watch your features change in the face of pleasure would do nothing but add to the filthy lust burning through his veins.
he could fuck you better.
he will fuck you better.
you didnât miss the soft beat of his eyes matching up with yours after he aligned himself at your entrance. his gaze wavering, waiting for you to give him a cue to go. your eyes grazed past his shoulder at the door, a sense of fearful thrill bursting like fireworks in your stomach when you realize how easy it would be for people outside to hear you, and how they could look inside the window and see you two if they angle their head a certain amount.
this was exciting. nothing you have ever done before and nothing you imagined you would ever do, yet here you were with chan waiting above you, your wetness clenching at nothing impatiently.
âfuck me, chan,â you whispered, your eyes returning to him.
his heart leaped at those words, far too excited for his own good. he smiled, leaning down to your face before he huffed, âi was planning to.â
your legs twitched when he inserted himself in quickly, the stretch fast and thus, painful. but the time was ticking, you knew, so you didnât blame him for not taking his time. the slickness in your hole was doing a fantastic job of helping him glide in and out of you smoothly, and chan had been planting butterfly kisses along your neck in an attempt to distract you from the pain of adjusting to his size.
your cunt was tightening around him, a sensation so pleasurable that it overwhelmed his senses and almost drained his sanity clean. you felt good, and the fact that you were you, the fact that he has been secretly in love with you for so long just made everything even better than he could ever imagine.
chan couldnât think of anything else. his shameless mind only knew he wanted to keep going, he wanted to keep feeling you, he wanted to kiss you everywhere and make you feel so great he occupies your mind for the rest of the day. and he was giving in to the pleasure, leaning into the bliss and abandoned all that he has ever known to pound into you relentlessly.
the squelching sound of your pussy haunted every punch to your hole, your heavy breathing slowly turning to desperate little moans. your hands were clutching his arm just for the sake of having something to touch, feeling his prominent muscles flex under your skin, and letting it turn you on even more. and your legs flailed about until they finally wrapped around his hips and pushed him closer to you.
âahh, chanâfuck!â you gritted out, his cock sliding along your walls quickly and creating never-ending friction. each time his tip reaches a deeper end of your hole, you feel a burst of fluttery feeling across your body. chan kept going, hitting the spot once, twice, three times until he suddenly thrust into you hard, and you let out a loud, chocked moan.
chanâs lips quirked up automatically, feeling his ego boost with that loud moan you let out. but instead of showing you his smugness, he clamped a hand over your mouth tightly and glared at you. your eyes widened as your brows furrowed, not confused as to why he shut up but annoyed that you couldnât let out any noises at a location like this.
âyou better keep quiet, baby,â he warned, thrusting into your harshly to test out his grip. your sudden moan was a muffled, but from the looks of your eyes, he could tell it would have been loud without restrictions. âyou donât need the whole floor finding out what weâre doing in here.â
you hummed out a whine, nodding obediently at him as your hands flew up to grip his hand. you didnât try to move his hand, you let it stay over your lips and tried to navigate his hand until he gripped the sides of your jaw. chan raised a brow at you, bewildered but not opposing to making sure you shut the hell up for the remainder of this session.
his hips continued to roll against yours, and you found yourself bucking your hips up for more. the knot at your abdomen was twisting uncomfortably, feeling like it wanted nothing but to burst, so your legs tightened around his hips and kept drawing him closer to you, even though chan has physically no more space to move forward.
he kept fucking into you, his pace only picking up more and more when he could hear students shuffling and talking outside the door. timeâs ticking, he has to finish off quickly now.
âshitââ chan groaned under his breath when you suddenly clenched around him, your high approaching unexpectedly.
being unable to hear your voice sure didnât give him any hint of when you were reaching your limit, and he was too drowned in the sensation to feel your body language. the way your legs pushed at his back, the way your hands continuously tightened around his wrist, the way your back kept arching off the desk. he couldnât pick those up until he felt it suffocating his cock inside of you.
and his own high was racing to the finish line as well, the way your walls felt all warm and rough around him was unlike anything he has ever felt. no amount of toys could help him relish in a feeling like this, no amount of people could make him feel the way he was with you now.
it has to be your body, it has to be your cunt, it has to be you.
your whined against his palm when chan rammed into you at an even quicker pace, his lips touching your neck and you could hear him sucking in his breath. your hands flew up to the edge of the desk where you grabbed on, your back scratching against the wooden surface at the way he pounded into you. oh god, he was hitting deeper, how was he hitting deeperâfuck!
your back arched off the table suddenly, your eyes rolling up and a strangled scream barely seeping through the gaps of his fingers. you felt yourself release around him, your legs jerking and tightening around his hips at the fulfilling feeling of letting it all go. the tightness loosened up in your stomach and you felt pleasant and free.
chan continued to move, his breathing getting louder with each thrust. he could feel your cum, mixing in with the warmth of your walls and moving about around his cock. he shut his eyes when you pressed your arms around his back, holding him close to you. you pulled at his locks, stimulating his senses more, and you pressed your thighs together as you raised your legs a little higher to narrow your walls around him.
âahh, fuckâfuck! ahhââ he whined when he felt the bubble burst at his tip. he bottomed out inside, reaching to the hilt and finally allowing himself a satisfying release. his jaw dropped, his breath hitting against your neck as he panted for a moment before finally pulling out of you.
he didnât leave your side, though. chan let go of your mouth so he could kiss you, his hand moving down to your hole so he could gather the dripping cum and push them back inside your pussy. pulling away from you, he looked into your eyes pointedly as he pushed his finger inside your heat, then he demanded softly, âyouâre gonna sit through the lecture with my cum inside of you, hmm?â
you whimpered a little, feeling him press his finger against your walls. âyes, chan.â
âgood girl,â chan smiled, running his hand through your hair and patting your head as a sign of praise.
almost immediately then, a knock sounded at the door, and you both widened your eyes at the noise.
right, classes!
scurrying off the desk, you picked up your safety shorts and pulled it back up your thighs again. you wiggled your waist to adjust your skirt before heading over to pick up your school bag. you dropped it on a chair before reaching down to grab chanâs backpack, bringing it to him with an amused smile.
âiâll pick you up when class ends, okay?â he said as he took his bag, swinging it over his shoulders as he smiled at you. âif thatâs fine with you, of course. we can have dinner together.â
you looked at him, a soft smile gracing your lips. âyeah, sure.â
he heaved a relieved sigh inwardly, hoping his nervousness didnât seep through his facade. he reached an arm out around your shoulder and pulled you towards him, his lips briefly meeting the top of your head before pulling away and waved you a quick goodbye. he made his way out of the room, not forgetting to flick open the lights before he did so.
and, almost immediately, changbin walked into the classroom from the other direction. chan must have missed him when he walked out, because surely chan would have made a cheerful greeting and acted like he hadnât just stuffed you full of his cum.
you stood stoic for a moment, catching his eyes and finding him stare back at you. well, while you did momentarily forgot about changbin, seeing him still made your heart pump from nervousness. damn, you really couldnât get a momentâs of rest and think about the fact that you just had sex with chan in a classroom, huh?
to avoid staring longer at him, your lips pursed into an awkward smile as you waved at him before turning away to rummage through your bag.
but you didnât get to do much, because only a few seconds later, his presence walked up close behind you and his hand went around your neck to give it a frighteningly familiar squeeze. your breath halted and you whimpered at the pressure he added to your bone, your hands flying up in defeat.
changbin huffed out an irritated laugh. he could recognize that whimper anywhere now, heâs replayed it so many times in his head.
he leaned close to your ear, his hot breath pricking the back of your neck dangerously and his chest pressed against your back. he spoke in a low tone, his words intending not for even the air surrounding you both.
âso you were the girl who fucked me in the closet a few weeks ago.â
you licked your lower lip and nodded. all that effort to result in this. âyeahâŚâ
âi thought i recognized that choked moan somewhere,â he said, rolling his eyes as he recalled the awkwardness he felt when his hand left the doorknob and he stood to the side to wait.
it had taken him a second to find out why he felt icky all over his skin. he remembered your voice, and that sudden moan you let out through the door came from you.
he had his doubt, of course, something within him didnât want it to be you, because how heartbreakingâand patheticâwould it be if he had been spending weeks hung up on your identity while you were, well, having fun in concerning locations.
he got his answers when chan walked out and you were the only person in the classroom. it has to be you; both your voice and the fact that you happened to also be in the circle that night.
there was a dramatic pause, the silence almost wrapping around you whole before he spoke again, âiâve been looking for you everywhere. turns out youâre just here getting fucked by my friend.â
âtell me the truth,â he said, âwas i better?â
you couldnât answer. your mind simply blanked out and no thoughts were coherent at the moment. his hand deliberately pressed your neck, causing your chest to heave, and you could still feel the sticky substance sliding out your cunt and wetting up a patch at your panties. you didnât know where to put your attention, and you felt hot all over once again.
just as changbin was about to taunt you even more, the classroom door opened with a loud bang. he quickly moved away from you and looked away, pretending to be walking off to the back of the class. but as he turned around and sat down, you found his hooded gaze was fixated on you, and you gulped at the words it told you.
you have the class period to figure out the answer to his question.

Empires on the Horizon Epilogue
Jason is a CEO: Epilogue
When i started this fic (around 9 months ago-- holy hell we could have had a whole human in that time) i didnât expect it to go in the directions it did or to produce the characters and story it did. While itâs not one of my more action-packed fics it is still very special to me because 1. itâs my first jason centered fic (of which we donât have much of); 2. itâs my first really long multi-chap (the longest before this was 10 parts); 3. i got to explore so many of my crackships and dynamics of friendship i may not have been able to if we (for example) stuck to canon; 4. most importantly i love this fic because it started out (the very first chapter) as an original story that just was not going anywhere but when i decided to make it a fanfic, suddenly ideas were pouring from my fingers like wine from a split barrel. these characters feel as much mine as they are Rickâs (which is a dangerous path to go down and iâm not actually claiming theyâre mine-- gods please donât sue me). in short i love this fic dearly, iâm so proud of how far all these little babies have come (especially jason) and i hope you feel even a smidge the joy i feel over this, as you go on to read the very soft conclusion to Jason Grace as CEO.

There was something almost magical in the gleaming silhouette of the Manhattan skyline. There was something hopeful about it too.Â
Jason Grace stepped out of his car, relishing in the sound of the gravel crunching under his feet and the babble of people all around him. His suitâ a deep blue, dark enough to look black, and glittering with tiny silver diamantes that looked like starsâ clung to his shoulders and hugged his legs. The theme of the evening was âStarry Nightâ. He figured coming as the actual night was accurate enough. Drew and Silena had done a beautiful job on his outfit, to no-oneâs surprise. He would see them here tonight, along with their husband, and the rest of his friends. And tomorrow, oh tomorrow, he would be off to Rome, with the man that filled his life with overwhelming light.
âJase,â Someone called out from the darkness, âAre you hiding from us because you put two different shoes on again and are too embarrassed to say?â
âShut up Annabeth,â He laughed, âIâm coming.â
He walked towards the group of silhouettes, making out Leo and Annabeth, and Nico and Will, and coming from behind them were the dressmakers and their Charles. Hazel and Frank would be making an appearance later in the night.
âYou all look beautiful.â He smiled, hugging them, kissing cheeks and foreheads, relishing in their closeness and their comfort, as he has always done. And they did in fact look beautiful. Annabeth in a dress of blue swirling around her and pooling at her feetâ the colours matched the sapphire on her ring finger; Leo in a matching floor-length skirt and a sheer polo-neck that showed off every clean brown line of his skin; Nico and Will, in contrast, were complete opposites, the former in a black suit with silver jewellery, and the latter in an off white with gold accents; Silena, Drew and Charlie all had on suits with various parts of the galaxy embroidered in gold, threading a spectacular tapestry through the emerald green. All in all, his friends were really hot.
âYâall ready?â Will drawled, tilting his head to the entrance of the hotel a little way away.
âLetâs go celebrate!â He winked in response.
And then theyâre walking towards the bright lights, launching into conversations and updates and work and jokes. It was familiar in the way driving home after a long time away was, or catching a waft of the specific smell of your elementary school art room, or seeing someone from your childhood and slipping into a comfortable back-and-forth.
âJase,â Charlie scooted next to him, breaking away from his conversation with Nico, âHowâs the construction for the new section of the outdoor center going? I heard you hit a snag last week with the design?â
âYea there was a few centimeters off with one of the structures and it caused the whole area to be off balance,â He scrunched his nose, remembering the horror from last week. âIâm just grateful we caught it in time.â
âI canât believe itâs been a year since that center went up,â His friend marvelled, eyes wide with the disbelief of time. He knew the feeling well.
âItâs crazy. I came back from my holiday and then everything was just on fast forward.â He shook his head, a smile tugging at his lips. âIâm happy though, with the progress and how far weâve come.â
âYouâve just burst and grown and brightened,â Thereâs that soft smile, the one that made all of Jasonâs insides turn to mush. The one that told him he was loved in every capacity.
âI know.â He felt the blush creeping up his skin, pale after the long winter months. âI donât owe it to myself though. All of you guys haveââÂ
âNo way mister,â Annabeth chimed in, âYou absolutely owe it to yourself. You got yourself there, we just cheered you on.â
âYea,â Leo nudged his arm, a gentleness shimmering in his brown eyes. âYou were the hero of your own story.â
He muttered thank youâs and tried to embrace the blush but their love and joy and pride still drowned him. Before anyone else could pile on the sincerity they were walking into the lobby and being ushered to the large, elegant ballroom three doors down.
There was a collective gasp from their group, audible even above the low hum of chatter, and the soft jazz drifting through the speakers. The entire room had been made to look like they were standing inside the middle of âStarry Nightâ. Like they were the townsfolk parked outside their houses witnessing the strange and magical sky above them. Swirls of blue in the draping curtains and circles of yellow in the chandeliers and wisps of the cypress trees growing from the walls as if the very room had been built around a tree.
âThis isââ He didnât even have the words to fully express his awe. If he were an art major he would have died from the beauty of it all. As it stood he could barely keep himself up.
âI know,â A voice said quietly from behind him. âItâs almost divine.â
He didnât say anything, didnât even turn around to see who it was. He simply stepped back and let arms envelope him. He didnât need to check, because he knew, he would always know. In the heat of their skin, and the hum of their voice, and the love that radiated between them like scorching summer sun.
âMorĂł mou,â He sighed, tipping his head back to rest against a shoulder. From this angle he could see blazing green eyes and jet-black curls, and impossibly high cheekbones, and a jaw sculpted by Michaelangelo.
âHello my love,â Percy Jackson smiled. âHow are you?â
âHappy.â He muttered, lips brushing against his boyfriendâs cheek.
âGood,â The man nodded, squeezing his waist where his arms still wrapped around. âAre you going to be okay tonight?â
âI will not just survive through it,â His eyes crinkled at the corner as pure joy washed through him, âI will live through it, and I will enjoy every minute of it.â He knew the reason for the question, for the concern. But tonight it was not needed. He was nothing but excited and elated for the hours, and then days, weeks, years to come.
âI love you.â
âI love you.â
A glass tinkled somewhere to their right, grabbing their attention. And then Zoe and Reyna were stepping together and drawing people towards them as if they were gravity, magnets, the center. They looked it certainly: Zoe in a stark white dress, hugging her figure, shimmering like stardust every time she moved; and Reyna in a watery blue, gauzy and flowing in time with her body, where she goes it will ripple behind her.
âThank you,â His lawyer started, giving them a dazzling smile. âFor being here. All of you.â She looked them each in the eye, her own filled with love and⌠were those tears? From his no nonsense, boss lady lawyer? Oh he was so going to give her a hug and then tease her endlessly about it.Â
âWe have a thousand people to thank for all of this,â She gestured to the room, âAnd a thousand more to thank just for being here, but that will come in the form of surprise take-me-homes at the end of the night.â
âHowever,â Zoeâs voice, still as strong and quiet as ever, rang out across the room. âThere are two people we would like to thank right here, right now.â Her smile lit up the world as her eyes landed on them. âIn typical us fashion, itâs a little out of the ordinary but please can both our ex-boyfriendâs come up here.âÂ
The crowd burst into laughter, him and Percy with them, as they detangled themselves from each other and walked hand in hand to the front of the room.
âAs you can see,â Reyna grinned. Jason held in the groan he knew would accompany her next words. âWe did a Partner Swap.â
The laughter only loudened, people whistling, and clapping in time with their amusement.
âI will spare you the sordid details,â Zoeâs own giggling softened to a smile, âBut two years ago, after Jason and I had broken up, I called him in a panic asking for help. And despite being on a much needed holiday where he happened to meet a certain someone,â She winked at them, eyebrows waggling comically, âHe listened to me, then made use of his contacts and connected me with Reyna.â
âAnd after I charmed the suit off of her, and won her lawsuit,â Reyna stepped in, grinning wildly, âShe agreed to pop open a bottle of champagne and celebrate our win.â
âIâm not quite sure about the charming part, angel.â Zoe quirked an eyebrow, âBut yes one champagne bottle and the rest was history.â
âIn conclusion to this whole ordeal,â His lawyer turned to them, âJase, Percy, we have a present for you, to thank you for loving us, and for loving us enough to let us go, and furthermore for bringing us together.â
Zoe handed them an envelope but before they bothered to open it they pulled the women in for a hug, thanking and congratulating them. He would not change what they had for the world. He will be grateful forever. He will love them even longer.
Percy ripped open the envelope and pulled out a single sheet of paper. He leaned over his boyfriendâs shoulder and read with him.
The universe has a funny way of pulling stars together but we know with certainty that the four of us are born from the same constellation. Thank you for everything. We know we can never really repay you but please accept this as a start.Â
Tucked into the last fold of the paper were two plane tickets to Japan. The holiday they had discussed once, a Saturday game night that ended with the four of them huddled around the fire in Zoeâs apartment, chattering softly about this and that. Printed in small font at the bottom of the page was a cherry blossom branch and more text that read,
Get married losers, we want joint holidays so we can get the couples packages.
He bubbled with laughter at that, and looked up at his friends, tears pooling in his own eyes.
âAlright everyone!â Reyna clapped her hands, gathering the attention of the humming crowd. âLetâs get this engagement party started.â
And then music filled the room and people dragged each other to the middle of the space and there were cheers as the song came into focus and truly Jason understood the meaning of life that night.
After they had thanked Reyna and Zoe again, and chatted with their other friends Percy pulled him to the dance floor.
âJase,â His boyfriend cupped the back of his neck, arranging their bodies into a work of art. âWe have wonderful friends.â
âThe very best,â He agreed, swaying their hips in time with the beat. âWe have built an empire with them by our side.â
âWill you be the emperor then?â
âThere is no monarchy in this kingdom,â He smiled, blue eyes glittering and bright. âIt is just us, and our love, and everything beautiful the world has ever had to offer.â He saw oceans reflecting back at him, wonder soaking in his words, happiness pressing against his lips.
His boyfriend pressed their foreheads together, bodies still moving to music far away. âAnd if we look further?â Percy breathed, âPast the empire, to the horizon beyond?â
âIt is all home,â Jason Grace smiled. âWe are home, my love.â

âHumans are [Add text here]â
Chapter 4: I guess it qualifies as an introduction?
Phil wasnât expecting to wake up at 4 in the morning to the sound of laughter.
It wouldnât be the first time, definitely not the last.
Curiously the avian poked his head into his kidsâ room. The laughter wasnât coming from the gardener, guard, or scientist. The laughter was coming from the assistant who wasnât in their room. Phil turned his attention down the hall. Sure enough the laughter was louder. Quietly he made his way to the holding cell. Phil sat in a smaller hallway and decided to listen into the conversation⌠What can he say? He always eavesdropped..
âWhat even is a you-tube?â The assistant asked through small giggles. To that the human gasped as if he was hurt by the statement.
âYou donât have YouTube?! Or like an alien version of it?!â The human replied, not even trying to hide his shock.
âErm no?â
âWell itâs like this thing that humans use to make really cool videos and stuff.â
âWhatâs a video?â Ranboo interrupted.
âTheyâre kinda like moving photos that usually work as a sort of entertainment or info dump. I could probably tell you thousands of the times my stupid teacher made me watch âeducationalâ videos..â
âSo theyâre kinda like illusions?â
âYea but you donât see 'em in 3D. As I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted..â The enderian let out a small squeak of embarrassment at that, âYouTube is like a thing people use to post videos on. I am totally making an alien version of YouTube when I get out.â The air stiffened at that.
âTommy.. you probably wonât get out for a whileâŚâ Ranboo said, Phil heard one of them shift and the entire atmosphere lost itâs warmth, âItâs not like you wonât get out! Itâs just hard⌠especially when no one really trusts you yet.â Ranboo swallowed, as he usually does when he is uncomfortable, âEven when we let you out of the holding cell.. you probably wonât be allowed off the ship. Itâs too dangerous for all of us..â the two fell into a deafening silence. Phil shivered at the tension, making sure to be silent while doing so.
âI assumed as muchâŚâ the human started, being the first to break the silence, âI-I⌠I guess I wonât be going home either⌠since the ISF absolutely hates us.. plus like you said, only already crazy humans are sent back..â the human sighed sadly.. For the first time Phil felt sympathetic towards a human. With that he decided it was time to start on breakfast.
ââââââ
Three things happened after Tubbo woke up.
One, Ranboo passed out at the table. Phil simply shook his head and picked up the enderian with some unknown strength to the rest of the crew.
Two, a scream was heard from the other side of the ship, causing Wilbur to frantically run to the holding cell.
Three, Techno put his milk in before he poured his tea⌠I mean who does that?
Ignoring the last strange thing, Tubbo went to check on Ranboo. He was fine, so Phil said. âHe only needs rest. Leave them be.â Was what Tubbo got as he peered into the enderianâs room. Shrugging off the weird behavior Tubbo made his way to the garden.
Before he made his way to the garden he noticed the human wasnât in the holding cell. That meant he was probably in the lab⌠Which meant Tubbo would have to meet him.. Oh prime no. Thatâs not gonna happen.
He started sprinting to the garden. It was just passed the lab if only he took another step-
âTubbo, I need your help.â Wilbur said from behind him. The droneling turned around reluctantly. Holding his breath he made his way into the medical part of the lab.
[gore and distressed characters, skim if you need to]
There, laying on the bed, was a human. He held back a scream which came out as a labored gasp. Sweat was bubbling on his forehead. With that he turned to Wilbur who examined the human from a distance.
âGo get some bandages and the stitching kit.â Wilbur commanded. Without hesitation Tubbo ran to grab the items. Wilbur took both objects and disinfected a bad cut on the humanâs arm. He hadnât even realized there was a cut until Wilbur cleared off the strange red blood. Wilbur then proceeds to stitch the wound and bandage the irritated wound.
Thatâs when Tubbo noticed the amount of blood the human lost. Most species wouldnât be able to handle that much blood loss, but here was the beast of the galaxy, completely fine in a matter of minutes after losing quite a bit of blood.
[End]
When Wilbur was satisfied, he picked the human up and carried him back to the holding cell. Tubbo was unable to stop himself from following. Before thinking the droneling sat at the table and watched as Wilbur finished cleaning the human.
âEr.. do you want me to grab Techno so you can stay in here?â Wilbur asked, noticing Tubbo sitting in the corner.
Without saying a word Tubbo gave a small nod. Wil didnât push like he usually did and left to get Techno.
Tubbo got up and approached the sleeping human. He was skinnier than what Tubbo thought humans should be. There were odd dark circles under his eyes and his hair clearly hadnât had a good wash for what looked like months. He had injuries over his body and was practically shaking in his sleep.
Since Tubbo was preoccupied, he barely noticed Techno enter, or the door closing. Let alone the clangs and thuds from other crew mates.
He was preoccupied by the strange human who was sleeping in front of him.
The human stirred and the droneling stumbled away.
After a few seconds the human sat up and looked at the now fallen droneling.
âWhat the fuck?â
ââââââ
Tommy didnât expect another alien to push their luck in his space. But here he was.
The alien was smaller than Tommy by a lot. Further proving Tommy was the biggest man. Unlike the other aliens this one wasnât threatening upon first glance.
The one from last night had been way more intimidating at first. Being way taller than Tommy and having weird lanky limbs and magical purple glowing orbs surrounding them. They had horns and a half and half complexion. One half of the alien being white with grey and purple freckles along with a red eye. The other half being a purplish black with grey and green freckles along with a green eye. They wore a suit with a red tie and dress shoes. He also had two tails of the same colors as his complexion. All of this being forgotten after they stammered through their introduction. It was honestly hilarious.
This alien was very different from the others. They had brown messy hair, encasing black antennas and small black bumps that resembled horns. Their skin was a honey peach color and practically glistened. There were strange hexagon patterns over their face along with three black stripes on either side of their face. They had bee wings, which was the only thing Tommy could relate to the alien too. There was also a black fuzzy tail, similar to a stinger, poking out of their pants. Their hands were lanky and pointed, completely black. There was also soft yellow fuzz poking out of their sleeves and holes in their pants. They wore ripped jeans along with a long sleeved green button down shirt. Their eyes were another thing entirely, being a honey brown in certain light but could also shift to a greenish blue in other light. They had fly-like pupils.
After a minute of them sitting in an awkward stance the alien got up. Using their wings to properly position them in a standing position. They brushed themselves off and approached Tommy.
âYou lay a finger on anyone here and I will kill you. Understand?â The alien said, any intimidation that was lost from the alien falling was regained in an instant. The alien poked him in the chest with one of the lanky fingers, which started burning like acid after a minute.
Since Tommy was too, sacred, poggers to move he simply nodded, which is absolutely the best response to the situation. Sadly the alien didnât get the gesture and dug their nail into his chest even more. Seriously, it was starting to really burn.
âY-yes.â Was all Tommy could muster. The alien was satisfied with the answer and let go of Tommy. They walked out of the now open door. Shortly after Techno followed the door closing behind him. Tommy never realized the other alien was in the room.
[Mentions of abuse]
For a split second the interaction reminded him of his dad.
The way his dad did the same thing to his mom when she didnât listen.
Or when his sister didnât follow his dadâs friend.
Or when Tommy made a mistake.
Except instead of a nail, it was glass, or a punch, or sometimes a knifeâŚ
[End]
He shook off the thoughts and reminded himself that the aliens werenât his father, nor were they going to do that to him.
They wouldnât do that right?.. Right?
Tommy slapped his face, only to find there were silent tears flowing down his cheeks. He quickly wiped his cheeks and continued his train of thought.
Tommy trusted too easily. That in the end is how at nine he ended up getting beat up in his first foster home. He condemned himself for trusting the aliens. They were strangers. He knew nothing of them and they knew more about him. This was the moment in which Tommy shut himself off. Where he regained the ability to leave his blind trusting instincts.

Yey! New fallout blog. I'm so glad, it's honey on my heart! :D Do you have a lot of requests? I have two questions-ideas that you may like. 1: I like to think that Nick has memories that allow him to dance pre-war swing dances. But what about the rest of the companions? How do they react to Sole dancing lindy-hop (it's such fun and energy!) and/or blues-dancing (so slow, lazy, smooth and sexy). Do they know how to dance, do they want to learn from Sole, or do they very strongly refuse to dance?
yes, i have a lot of requests but i love it! keeps me occupied. i have taught ballroom dancing for a good four years of my life and i know about 10 dances. iâm absolutely in love with it! thank you for requesting this. <3
can you imagine the boys in an slightly unbuttoned, loose collared shirt with slacks and a belt.... đ¤Š
please enjoy! i will make it crushing companions because who doesnât like a little romance in their life?
-
Danse:
danse is a killjoy, he doesnât understand the joy of dancing and what impact it has on people. whenever he caught the sight of people doing it, he stood on his opinion that it was nothing but a waste of time. well, that was until he saw sole dance themselves. they had been dragged onto the floor by a friend of theirs and began lindy hopping as if they were suddently recharged and full of energy. even if he tried to deem it as a distraction later in the day, he knew he couldnât pry his eyes away no matter how hard he tried. he had seen many people dance in his lifetime at brotherhood gatherings and such, but had never seen anyone do it like sole had. danse isnât a dancer and will probably never be one. this man has spent his entire life in a tin can and is probably already built like one. he is horribly stiff and cannot move for the life of him. even if you were to hold him at gun point, heâd still harshly refuse to do so. after all, danse couldnât even do the macarena even if he tried. he knows that he is incapable of dancing, which is why he absolutely avoids doing it at all costs. even if he was utterly in love with sole, heâd still reject the offer of learning their hobby and instead watch them dance from afar, secretly gushing over the smile their plastered their face whenever they did so.
Deacon:
he would think itâs absolutely amazing how sole could still remember fragments of their dancing 200 years later. hell, he canât even remember what he ate last night for dinner, so itâs easy to say heâs impressed by their hobby and how physically demanding it is. the minute he saw sole and perform such an energetic dance, showcasing various fancy twirls and skills on the dance floor, heâd be completely bought, no further questions asked. deacon knows how to dance just for his disguises and such, but had never went beyond the basic steps of it. now that he had seen everything beyond what heâs ever known, heâd become very fascinated by it. heâd practically tackle sole on the floor, nearly begging them to teach him how to lindy hop and he definitely was not gonna accept no as an answer. the more sole had taught him, the more he became passionate about it, pressing sole to teach him more. in the end, heâd be more than willing to learn and even go as far as performing it with sole in different disguises while on their missions. after all, thereâs no one heâd rather do it with besides the star themselves- the sole survivor.
Maccready:
maccready is instantly absorbed into soles talent of lindy hopping and although he doesnât cheer out loud like everyone else does in the bar, heâs smiling proudly while leaning back in his seat. the sight of sole happy and energetic while doing what they love brings a warm feeling to his chest and he hopes that one day heâs able to make them smile the same way. after a few performances, mac would confront sole about it and ask about their history with dancing, curiousity eventually catching up to him. mac would try to listen as they spoke passionately about their hobby but their words would eventually turn into static as he instead admired their face like a middle school crush. heâd blush when sole snapped him out of it and would just reply with a simple, âthatâs good.â as if he listened to them in the first place. although mac is engrossed by their talent, he will not dance no matter the circumstances. it wasnât like mac was stiff or anything when moving his body, it was more of the fact that he was embarrassed to even attempt to dance in front of anyone, especially in front of the only person he has a crush on. mac naturally doesnât favor any attention on him, so he refuses to learn how to dance for his sanity and donât even get me started on creating physical contact with sole if he did choose to learn from them. if he were to accept their offer, his crush would be obvious to everyone within a 5 feet range. the thought of sole even linking their hand with his automatically gives him a heart attack, so for that to happen in real time would be an absolutely different story he wasnât going to find out. heâd support them completely with their dancing but would wave off the idea of him doing the same for personal reasons no one should know.
Hancock:
oh man, the sight of his crush blues dancing on the floor in front of everyone was so sexy in his eyes. the way their hips swayed and how slow and sensual their movements were drove him crazy. especially the way their confidence shone throughout the room made him fall in love with them even more. although he didnât like the idea of them dancing with someone else, he sure liked the scene right in front of him. his whiskey would be completely neglected as he smirked, watching them dance passionately. hancock is a dancer, but more specifically, a slow dancer. before he had met sole formerly, he had picked up various individuals through different tactics and thereâs no doubt that heâs used slow dancing as one. it always won the women over somehow, so he often did it. now that the mayor had his eyes on someone after countless years of avoiding love, heâd be utterly determined to impress sole with dance skills of his own that he had mastered. hopefully, heâd win their heart in the process of doing so. hancock would even try to sharpen them more before he built up the courage to ask sole for a dance. once he did so, it was simple to assume that sole was anything but disappointed.
Nick Valentine:
heâs thrilled to know that sole still contained their memories of prewar dances like he had. he always disliked the fact that prewar dances in the commonwealth were completely disregarded to rot slowly as time passed. it was such a unique hobby and talent nowadays and nick assumed he was going to rust away before he could find another person who could dance as good as anyone back in the prewar era. when sole had presented various dances, such as lindy hop and blues dancing, to a crowd in sanctuary, heâd become automatically ecstatic, a large grin forming on his face. heâd immediately walk over to sole, politely asking for their hand for permission to join in. though nick wasnât the greatest anymore at dancing and was a bit rusty at it due to his body limiting him, theyâd still catch the attention of the crowd who cheered them on happily. he had forgotten how good it felt to be doing something he once enjoyed doing in his past life. obviously by now, you can assume nick is an excellent dancer amongst all the companions and would be the closest to soles level of dancing. he is a very romantic guy, signalling that he prefers much more slower dances and in this case, blues dancing. the fact that heâs in love with sole only proves this more and whenever theyâre in private and he has the chance to ask for a dance alone, he does without hesitation. after a while, theyâd come up with routines of their own and it was become a nightly habit to dance with each other, whether slowly or with energy.
Preston:
heâd be one of the many companions that would be cheering on for sole as they blues danced or lindy hopped on the floor, saying things like, âthatâs my general!â or âwoohoo! go sole!â. secretly, heâd enjoy the small blush that would appear on their face whenever prestons voice boomed amongst the noisy crowd. he wanted to make sure that sole knew he was watching and that he was their biggest supporter, regardless of the abundance of people watching them. heâs absolutely supportive with soles habit of dancing and often asks them about it, knowing that it was one of their passions that still continued to stick with them even after the bombs dropped. preston would be happy to learn from sole, accepting their offer before they could say another word. it wouldnât hurt to try something new and if he didnât like it, he could always just stop after all. luckily for sole, he would immediately find himself liking every dance they taught him, whether it was slow or fast, and would enjoy practicing every once in a while to take his mind off the stress. the feeling of soles hands against his shoulder blade and his hand was more than enough to brighten up any bad day. preston is the type of dancer where heâd prefer to perform and practice in private rather than showcasing to a crowd. he was definitely very shy about it and a little insecure of his skills, but with time, he would eventually attempt to dance in public with sole. maybe not everytime, but it would happen occasionally.
Sturges:
boy, oh boy, lemme tell you right now. sturges is in love with prewar history, so once sole presented their skills of dancing, heâd be practically bombarding them with compliments and questions. he wouldnât hide the fact at all that he was impressed by their set of skills and would even give them a cute ass nickname like, âmy little dancer,â to which he laughed at whenever sole blushed madly. as much as the lindy hopping caught his eye, he liked the movements of blue dancing and the music that came along with it. it was much more of his style, really. the day sole came up to him and asked if he wanted to learn, he had agreed, knowing that he couldnât say no to such a charming individual. sadly though, sturges has done nothing similar to dancing in his life and is as stiff as a rock when sole first teaches him, often stepping on their foot or stumbling over nothing. heâd blush in embarrassment, apologizing profusely whenever an error was made. heâs a mechanic- he fixes, repairs, tinkers and builds. it was something he enjoys doing and something he was great at. now this- this was something definitely new in his life and something he was absolutely horrible at. although he canât dance for shit, heâs willing to bite back the hesitation so he could take advantage of whatever time he has with sole.
Gage:
he wouldnât really have a high opinion of soles dancing but wouldnât deny the fact that he was slightly impressed by their talent. never has he once seen anyone in nuka world dance the same as sole did and he definitely wasnât gonna push away the fact that it was something unique and interesting to watch. even if he didnât tell that to sole out loud, the way his eyes followed their every movement spoke louder than any words he couldâve pulled out of his ass. from time to time, heâd compliment them in his own way, saying things, such as, ânice footwork you got there, bossâ or âdonât see much of that these daysâ. sole would eventually taunt him by accusing gage that he liked the performance to which gage playfully snickered at it while rolling his eyes. you never put gage and dancing in the same sentence. heâs absolutely against himself doing so and would rather jump off a cliff willingly than to be caught doing such a thing. thereâs nothing you can do to make him dance or even attempt to bribe him into learning- he just wonât do it at all costs. gage has his own set of hobbies and he likes to stick within that area, so the topic of dancing doesnât appeal to him at all and immediately shuts the idea down the second it leaves soles mouth. as much as he loved sole, there was just no way in hell that he was gonna be forced into this. it just wasnât him.

we know that bobby only watched ds9 and dean watched the tos movies for sure which implies he's seen tos as well (plus he calls jack spock). so what do you think everyone's favorite trek is? sam is without a doubt a tng fan first and foremost. i think out of all tos movies cas prefers the wrath of khan because he Feels Things when kirk and spock do the ta'al through the glass. charlie has definitely seen some trek (we've seen her llap), do you think she's into tos first and foremost? anyway let's talk about star trek nights in the bunker.
OKAY SO I HAVE. MANY MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS. SORRY THIS IS SO LONG.
like. like of COURSE bobby only likes ds9 of course he does i could have told you this without the show becuase like. bobby is That Bitch. i think rufus will have watched TOS at least because leonard nimoy worked hard on linking jewish faith and practices into the vulcan lore and i think that would mean something to him. bobby will catch rufus smiling at him sometimes while theyâre watching ds9 and ask him what all gruffly and rufus will smirk at him and say something about sisko with jake and bobby with dean and bobby will just cough and take a swig of whiskey and rufus will raise his eyebrows but let it slide. rufus definitely makes a comment once about dean&cas being like jake&nog that totally flies over deanâs head but bobby is all knowing eyebrow raise about.
i think cas and jack would really like discovery. while it has some issues with inconsistency, pacing, being a little dark, it also does better than the other TV treks at utilising the nature of film as a medium to instill a sense of wonder, at space and the world, and thatâs something theyâd really appreciate. i have my own issues with disco, but an obol for charon is as close to the central core of trek that disco ever gets. cas and jack also like that one in particular because they like listening to all the different languages being spoken. they all love michael (everyone loves michael). casâ faves are stamets and reno because theyâre mean and gay, jackâs fave is tilly because sheâs excitable and bright and he latches onto that. dean likes reno because sheâs got spunk. samâs fave is airiam and he will never forgive them for killing her off. sam, cas and dean all feel an uncomfortable kinship with both ash and culber - theyâve both been the one with monster teeming under the surface, controleld by something not themself, but theyâve also all spent that time in hell/purgatory, separated from everyone they love.
thinking about episodes that would really get to them all, darmok is. THE ONE. i have a whole unfinished essay about darmok as the platonic ideal of star trek; the perfect distillation of everything trek is SUPPOSED to be about. it doensât always get there but by god it tries! that speech michael gives in the disco s2 finale - âThere's a whole galaxy of people out there who will reach for you. You have to let them. Find that person who seems farthest from you and reach for them.â - thatâs what darmok is about!!! itâs all about a situation where real communication seems impossible, where everything we know about talking and learning has broken down. and picard says, okay, i will find another way. i canât relate to you, you canât relate to me, but by god iâm going to try. we all meet people we have trouble communicating with in our lives, and often, those people will not care about changing their own ways to accommodate us. for people with autism, adhd, psychosis, the list goes on, this is a very common occurrence. itâs exhausting and frustrating and alienating. darmok is all about crossing that barrier. about reaching for someone through a world of difficulty and learning how to talk. learning how to share something with someone who seems out of our reach. itâs beautiful, itâs heartwrenching, it means more to me than i can easily put into words!Â
anyway i think the bunker fam would experience a lot of emotions watching it together. thereâs defintiely a lot of hugging eachother, sam cries a lot and wonât look at anyone until after the episode ends. jack just asks a lot of questions and talks about his progress learning sign language with cas. dean snakes his hand into casâ halfway through and doesnât let go. doesnât show the emotion on his face, but he clutches harder at the emotional beats. cas runs his fingers through jackâs hair and thinks a lot, and decides not to say anything unless dean talks first. its just a Lot for everyone.Â
dean def makes them marathon all the TOS and TNG movies. itâs an experience everyone needs at least once. i think youâre right about cas and TWOK with the taâal through the glass, but also âthis simple feelingâ and the hand hold would make him feel crazy. bones being the one that spock entrusts with his katra DEF makes dean feel some type of way because as much as destiel is kirkspock-coded, dean IS bones, and seeing spock trust bones so completely despite how at odds they were when they first knew eachother would dig deep into deanâs psyche and make him more than a little bit nutso. the movies are way too long for jack so he mostly sits and plays animal crossing while they watch and looks at the screen when everyone else gasps or when something exciting is happening that holds his attention for a while. samâs fave is nemesis precisely because itâs terrible and he loves how camp it is.
dean has definitely seen all of trek. i refuse to believe someone who watches as much tv and films as dean wouldnât sit and watch the whole shebang. i think heâs probably seen TOS and the TOS movies more than the others because its easier than sitting through 7 seasons, but i think rather than that being his favourite heâd just have really strong opinions about the best episodes of each one? like if you asked him what his favourite is heâd say you canât answer that because theyâre all so different from eachother
VOY - bride of chaotica, non seqitur, macrocosm for the favourite episodes. seven, janeway and tuvok would be his favourite characters. he think toms a bit of a knob but also feels a kinship with him for the similar brand of bab dad-ism but he wouldnât be able to put that into words. heâs also a fierce defender of threshold being a good episode (heâs right for that)
DS9 - our man bashir itâs our man bashir. he doesnât dislike ds9 but its very plot heavy and he didnât care for it when he was younger. rewatching it after living through multiple supernatural wars heâd probably appreciate it more. i know for a fact he cries every time thereâs an episode about sisko being a good dad. jadzia and garak are his faves
TNG - he LOVES q. he also absolutely will not be caught dead referencing how much loves q after cas comes into his life because sam will do the little brotherly knowing eyebrow raise at him and he will die of embarrassment. he regularly references âthere are four lightsâ because heâs a fucking nerd. he has made cas watch elementary my dear data and fistful of datas a half dozen times each at LEAST. cas KNEW how dean was going to be about the cowboy hat heâs defintiely got into full cowboy getup at home just for watching movies and in casâ head star trek is fully to blame.
TOS - oh there are so many good TOS eps to choose from. obv he loves most of the series becuase TOS has MANY banger eps, his favourites are probably like. mirror mirror, amok time (baby dean defintiely had some kind of crisis watching it for the first time; i know the rituals are intricate). i know deep in my bones that dean watched the conscience of the king (introduction of the tarsus iv massacre) once and then spent his entire teenage years writing fic about that in his head, whether he posted it or not. dean related too much to those experiences of shared hunger. city on the edge of forever is one of everyoneâs faves for a reason (and iâm STILL mad we never got a closer take on that episode in spn it could have been so fun).Â
ENT - he definitely thinks enterprise is stupid and heâs not wrong but he has also definitely watched it and been very repressed about the whole thing. mans was like oh i feel a kinship with malcolm reed the obviously repressed queer man. i will never examine this feeling ever again thank you <3 he also makes fun of archer for being obsessed with, of all sports, water polo. shran is his favourite character because heâs a little shit and makes him laugh, and tâpol, because tâpol is a badass and heâd appreciate that. i canât remember the title of a single episode off the top of my head though lol.
i can see what youâre saying about sam being a TNG stan. iâm conflicted though, I feel like TNGâs generally the favourite of 1) obnoxious nerds who think knowing trivia facts makes them smart, 2) men desperately trying to seem masculine and 3) people whoâve watched it three times and have extremely complex thoughts on the personhood and rights of robots. i could see sam fitting into the third group, but people who are in it for the robot feelings are a coin flip between voyager and tng being the fave, and i just have a feeling that voyager would be his favourite. i know kid sam is getting gender envy watching voyager in shitty motels while dad and dean are out, trying to find the words for it. his first semester at stanford he talks a friend into giving him the janeway haircut and rides that high for months. samâs favourite characters are seven and EMH.Â
sam and dean have definitely had dozens of long drawn out debates about philosophical topics in star trek. do the holograms deserve rights and if so which ones. are the romulans and vulcans still meaningfully the same people. was spock right for trying to foment reunification by going undercover on romulus. can the borg be redeemed. etc etc.
i havenât seen any of picard at all so i canât comment. i also think sam and dean probably read a lot of the trek books? theyâre pretty common to find in secondhand bookstores and cheap, would have been even cheaper back in the day. sam probably doesnât care for them much, dean has a few solid faves though. iâve only read the disco books so i canât comment anything specifically (besides the fact that i think dean read dead endless and cried like a baby), but some of the TOS and DS9 books are gay as hell and i know dean was eyes emoji-ing that shit.Â

Atsuhina; fluff fic. (Pt 1?)
Atsumu playing it off like he didnât develop the biggest fucking crush on Hinata ever since the first day he saw him during Nationals, until he comes back from Brazil two years later and joins the black jackals, and really, heâs just helpless.
(So...my fingers slipped and this (which was based on this) turned into a pseudo-fic of Astumu falling in love with Hinata.)
((This is really just a fluff vomit.))
Atsumuâs first experience with a certain type of helplessness began with casual curiosity - completely unbidden, and later, deeply regretted: âAnd also...who is that?â. In the grand scheme of things, in other words his twenty-two years of living, that can be considered an extremely miniscule moment, inconsequential almost, but really, that was the last moment heâd been free from years of confused pining and emotions his brain and pea-sized emotional range could barely comprehend. What came after, was the first ever match he played against Karasuno, and boy, did that roundhouse-kick him down the rabbit hole of feelingsâ˘.
Now, Atsumu had rarely given thought to things as trivial as feelings before Hinata, in fact, he had rarely given thought to anything at all. His thoughts had mostly consisted of: volleyball, how good playing volleyball felt, how good being a setter felt, how hungry he felt and how he could possibly fast-forward time to the next time he played good volleyball. When anything other than volleyball and hunger had cross his mind, like feelings, he had taken them in stride - because he was god damn Miya Atsumu - worldwide hotshot, mr-steal-yo-girl-and-guy, mr-anybody-who-canât-hit-my-sets-suck-thatâs-all-there-is-to-it.Â
Exactly. Feelings were beneath him.
That is, until a certain âShouyo-kunâ came along and hurled that routine cleanly out the window.Â
That single match in his second year of high school had engraved the memory of Hinata into his mind, and like an idiot who didnât understand what crushing on someone big-time felt like, heâd declared, âShouyo-kun, Iâll toss to âya one of these days.â A little promise more to himself than Hinata perhaps.
Yeah well, that went well. The year following that, heâd spent much of his volleyball and non-volleyball time thinking about how mesmerizing Hinata and Kageyamaâs play had been. Heâd been impressed - and annoyed - by the sheer improvement Kageyama had made in a matter of weeks since the training camp. There was even a certain level of admiration involved. His thoughts in training often returned to the bar the freak-pair had set, and it wasnât false to say that they inspired him to push his limits with Osamu further; faster, freer, wilder.
But then, his thoughts often wandered off to wondering what itâd be like to have Shouyo-kun as his partner too. (He couldnât really help it. After nationals, thinking about volleyball had always led to thinking about Hinata, and he was always thinking about volleyball.) He thought that about how fun it would be to jerk his opponents around on court using the monster that was Hinata. He thought about how fun it would be to have to keep up with someone else other than Osamu for once; that maybe that over-energetic ball of sunshine would drag him way beyond his current limits as a setter too; maybe he would force him to play volleyball âtill he was sick of it, just so he could feel the thrill of falling in love with it all over again. (Was that a little masochistic?) If it was even possible, Hinata made his love for good volleyball burn even brighter. His passion had touched him; he had captivated him.Â
Atsumu thought his heart raced every time he thought of Hinata because of the prospect of being able to play volleyball on a whole new level - the idiot.
But then Hinata had walked through the doors of the stadium for the Black Jackals tryouts three years later (after disappearing for two years and crushing Atsumuâs surprisingly fragile heart because he thought heâd never see Hinata again, causing him a lot of confused sleepless nights thinking about how heâd wished heâd gone to ask Hinata to play with him before heâd left) and you could say Atsumu had choked on his own breath. You could also say he was so stunned heâd frozen mid-step and dropped the ball heâd been tossing around, and froze for so long, Bokuto actually had enough time to bend in front him to ask if he had just been to Antartica. What would âya have it, his spur of the moment declaration had proven true. He was going to toss to Hinata. Atsumu stared straight at the ground without looking up after that because his heart was beating abnormally fast and for some reason, he had lost control of his lips - he couldnât stop them from pulling into a smile.
And my god, was it fun playing with Hinata. The months of training that followed after that fateful day made Atsumu feel as good as he had expected it to, even better in fact, because while heâd thought about all the new and experimental sets he would be able to make with Hinata, he hadnât really thought about the wide smiles he would get in return for the good sets he made; or the excited high-fives they would have after each play; or the liberty he now had to bask in the warmth of Hinataâs body whenever he threw an arm over his shoulders and held him a little closer than he would have Bokuto or Sakusa (not that the latter ever let him close enough to really touch him at all).
It wasnât just that too. Even if it wasnât about his tosses, about how good it felt to have the little monster Hinata under his command, just watching him made his breath catch. How did anyone make him go crazy over volleyball more than he already did? Or maybe, he was just going crazy now.
Alright, so maybe he really liked the way âAtsumu-sanâ sounded from Hinata, and he almost always had an arm around his shoulders or waist when they were walking, and he called out âShouyoâ more than necessary just so Hinata would turn to meet his eyes in question with his head tilted, but that wasnât really out of the ordinary for him. He was just more drawn to Hinata because he made his sets feel real good, and that made him feel good around him. Always.
Besides, lots of people were drawn to Hinata the same way he was. He was always surrounded by people - god knows where and how he became friends with all of them - and he was always laughing. They were always laughing because he was laughing. Even Sakusa tolerated his presence enough to take off his mask when heâs with him after training sometimes. And thatâs exactly what Atsumu believed in, until Bokuto spoke up one day after practice when theyâd been alone in the locker room.
âMan, for all the talk you have about us dancinâ to your tune, you sure are wrapped around Hinataâs little finger.â
Atsumu shrugged and continued packing his bag. âWell, Shouyo-kun is one scary little spiker.â
Bokuto shook his head. âNah man, Iâm not talkinâ about spiking. Heâs got the ability to control the entire court to his liking if thatâs what weâre talking about. Iâm talking about you outsideâa court.â
Atsumuâs face scrunched up in confusion. âBo-kun, wouldâja mind talkinâ with a little more sense? I donât understand whatâcha trying to say.â
âYou see! Thatâs exactly what I mean!â Bokuto jumped up and pointed at Atsumu from the other side of the bench. âWith all of us, you always talk like such a snotty brat, and you look like you want to die half the time-â
â-Ouch, okay dude, that kinda hurts-â
â-but when you talk to Hinata- no, scratch that. Even when youâre just looking at him, itâs like youâre seeing stars. You drop that snobby smile youâre always wearinâ and it turns all...uhhh...mushy! Then thereâs also the way youâre always calling out to him, and you just sound like you really like saying his name; and the way youâre always staring whenever Hinata laughs even though youâre, like, across the room. And I mean, youâre always talking like youâre all that hot stuff, but sometimes, you have lapses of silence where you just sit and watch Hinata talk. Oh! And do I really need to talk about how heâs always hanging off your back when weâre resting in-âÂ
â-OKAY. THATâS ENOUGH!â Atsumu shouted, covering his face with his arms. âWhat are âya, Bo-kun? A freak? Why do you know all that? Have ya been stalking me? And who said I did all that? Thereâs just no way I did allâa that. Thatâs so embarrassing. Thereâs no way I did all that.â
âYouâve repeated that twice now, Tsum-tsum!â
â...Just shut up, Bo-kun.â
âI didnât stalk you. Itâs been pretty obvious at trainings, and itâs been going on for months. Omi-kun thinks so too!â
â...Oh no.â How bad must it have been for Bokuto to be able to give him an in-depth run down on what a mess heâd been like? There was just no way. Miya Atsumu, the Miya Atsumu, national volleyball heart-throb, MSBY setter number 1, acting like an idiot in front of- of Shouyo-kun.Â
And why?Â
He paused to think about that, and memories flashed through his mind without much prompting: sunlit smiles; light, tinkling laughter; spontaneous high-fives; the warmth of Hinataâs chest against his back and his warm, breathy laughs against his ear whenever Hinata had been amused by what Atsumu scrolled through on instagram.Â
Well, damn. And as if the rate of his heartbeat wasnât evidence enough, Bokutoâs following âWoah, bro. Your face is totally scarlet!â really drove home the understanding that Miya Atsumu was absolutely gone.
Hereâs part 2!

Heating Up Part 3
Still owed you guys this one. Sorry it took, like, a little while. Hope you enjoy though! :)Â
Read part 1; part 2
Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost x Meta Reader
Summary: Reader gets captured. Will you be able to survive and free yourself? While also searching for the others and trying to escape?
Word Count: 2,717
It's cold all around. Curled up, eyes pinched shut and arms covering your head defensively. You prepare yourself for impact. The impact of sharp, icy air, so cold it instantly freezes everything it touches. Generated by one Killer Frost. Normally, it wouldn't be such a problem. But you're not able to control your 'heatâ powers right now. Is it due to all the adrenaline making you shaky? Or because you're frightened as hell? Or because you let your guard down around KF, thinking you noticed something blossoming between you two?
You don't know. It doesn't matter what the exact reason is anyway, considering in a couple of seconds it will all be over...
Yet... Nothing happens. Did she miss?
âWhat the hell are you doing?! Let's go!â, you perceive, slowly opening your eyelids and removing your arms away from your face. Frost has grabbed you and pulls you with her. Still able to peak over your shoulder, you notice a guy knocked out cold on the dirty ground. A nasty scar on his face and one fake eye. So, she didn't aim at you but at that guy?Â
âWait- What just happened?! Who was that?â, you exclaim in total confusion as KF drags you with her, sensing her cold hand on your arm through your jacket. Iâve never been so unfocused before. You didn't even hear the guy approaching, having absolutely no clue what just went down.Â
Moving towards a better lit hallway, Frost starts to explain that they (Caitlin and herself) started to work for someone real shady after leaving Central City. âIt got out of hand and Caitlin reached out to ask for help. I told her I could handle it on my own, but Caitlin wouldnât listen. And now look where it got usâŚâ. She sighs and rolls her eyes. âBarry and Cisco both captured by our employer. Idiotsâ. You look at her hand and back to her. âUm⌠Frost, you're still, like, holding meâ.
She scoffs, âI know that!â, and quickly lets go. She continues: âFirst we have to free Barry and Cisco. Unfortunately. Got it?â
âYes, loud and clearâ. This is not the Killer Frost you briefly met in the cold, misty woods months ago. The Killer Frost that had attacked her âfriendsâ with real rage and aggression. Angry at them and angry at the entire world around her.
She has changed. Â
âAnd what was that thing Caitlin wanted to ask me?â, you remember, returning to the unanswered question from before the sudden ice blast. Maybe thereâs a reason Caitlin didnât ask for my help earlier at STAR Labs. Clearly made visible by the event that had just happened. Youâd only be a burden. Besides, why would she choose you over The Flash anyway?
âOh, that. She first wanted to ask for your help only. But Caity was embarrassed about the shit mess we got ourselves intoâ. These words make you feel happy but also slightly disappointed. She obviously could have asked you. Out of everybody, you were the last person to judge her.
âYou should know, she kind of likes y-â, Frost interrupts herself. âShhh, quietâ, she snaps at you. But⌠you weren't even talking?Â
Both hide behind a large crate now that two suspicious men are approaching. âCan you use your powers?â, KF whispers at you, observing the guys. âNo, not from this distance. But I can still fight them you knowâ. âI bet you canâ, she answers while scanning your figure briefly.
Having decided each would take out one, Frost dives from behind the crates and attacks. You do the same and swiftly jump on the other. Creating enough momentum, you throw him over your shoulder and finish up with a high-speed elbow in his face, sending him to sleep for a nice couple of hours. Standing up again, you see KF nod at you with a grin on her face. âImpressive, (Y/N)â
Other thugs follow from the middle entrance. But this time with guns. Killer Frost pushes you away in time, both her hands placed on your chest firmly. The bullets are fired at the spot you were standing seconds when Frost harshly pins you to the wall. Her cold body is pressed against your warm one due the force she used. Warmer than usual⌠You heat up as her blue lips are close to your red ones. Noticing a teasing look starting to appear on KF's face when she bites her lip. Both staring into each other's eyes and Frost slowly leans in. Then you snap out of it. She has already pulled back and is currently attacking the men with weapons that are not freeze-proof, just as the men. Lucky for Killer Frost.
She knocks them out with a powerful cold blast. Too easy. And finishes by sending a daring wink your way. Impressed by the work she just delivered, Frost gives herself an imaginary pat on the back while eyeing that cute firefighter whoâs with her. Whoâs actually looking back at her with a rather strange expression...
âWatch out!â, you yell, sprinting towards a distracted Killer Frost, âBehind you!â. But youâre too late. Someone ambushed her. KF is now on the ground and you throw yourself in front of the guy. Anger fueling your body, you knock him out with a combo of three powerful punches and his body hits the ground with a dull thud.Â
Rushing towards Frost and you take her in your arms. Her hair slowly turns into hazel brown, lips from blue to red, yet her eyes remain closed. Sheâs turning back into Caitlin. Set in motion by you.Â
âNo⌠Not nowâŚâ, you grunt. Your powers are unwillingly emerging again. Great timing.Â
Suddenly an electrifying pain shoots through your body, originating from the back of your head. You instantly lose consciousness and black out, still holding Caitlin tight.
///
Waking up with a pounding in your head as if a hammer is hitting the inside of your skull. You cautiously open your eyes and vaguely see the silhouette of a woman. Caitlin. Her beautiful brown eyes staring at you... with a pretty concerned look. Why?
âCan you sit upright?â, she asks with an anxious voice. Carefully doing what Caitlin says, you notice that sheâs wearing power dampening cuffs. Yet, you are not. They don't know your powers? Gotta admit you're not as obvious as Barry or Cisco. Perks of not having a superhero-suit, you guess. Your hands are tied though. Turning your head around to take in the surroundings that is an old, dark holding-cell. A hundred percent certain youâre still in the same building as earlier, because the smell is definitely the same.
âHow are you feeling?â, Caitlin continues, now next to you with one hand on your shoulder. âI-I donât know, maybe... a little light-headed?â. Wait- you remember. You got struck from behind with an awfully hard object. Probably got a head wound or something, hence the killer headache. You try to reach the back of your head with bound hands to inspect the injury. Man⌠your head is really pounding like crazy. Not surprised when you view your hands only to discover theyâve turned red. Blood.
Great. This really is the last thing you need above all the other mistakes of today...
Sensing youâre slipping away, you hear Caitlin again. â(Y/N)! Stay awake, we have to get out of here!â, she says, slightly panicking.Â
âI-I⌠yeah, well, what do you want me to do?â, you return a bit slurring, staring into Caitlins worrisome eyes.
âCome on, let me help you upâ. Weakly, you put your tied arms around Caitlin so she can support you. Both hobble toward the metal bars that confine you from leaving.
âI was thinking, maybe you could heat up the metal, so that it becomes deformable?â, she suggests with a thoughtful, calm tone.
âI-I can tryâ. You hesitate. Are you able to use your powers? Especially now that youâre wounded? Itâs already hard to fully concentrate on a task, let alone melting a rigid material like metal. You slowly grab the bars, clenching them tight, trying to focus. Eyes closed, you can feel the iron in the palms of your hands. Heat up.Â
Just heat up!
Nothing happens. The metal remains cold and inflexible. Not even remotely able to bend it in the current state. Itâs not working. You open your eyes and turn to Caitlin. âIt- itâs⌠nothingâŚâ, stuttering as you lose all hope. You already messed everything else up today, so why did you expect this would even work? Itâs useless. Youâre useless. Now I understand why Caitlin didnât ask for my helpâŚ
âNo, donât give upâ. A warm hand is placed on your shoulder, squeezing you lightly. âYou can do this (Y/N). I know you canâ, words spoken with the most tender voice youâve ever heard. âI believe in youâ, Caitlin eases, âI trust youâ. You nod slightly, feeling every word she just said when an intense warmth ripples through your body. You close your eyes once again. Inhaling deeply and focusing on the rusted metal in front of you. Exhale. Concentrating on the infinitely many iron molecules packed inside the rods. Inhale again. Blocking everything else around. And exhale. You sense the structure changing. Slowly. Softening. Shifting. And moving. Â
The metal is heating up, finally, and bent into a shape just wide enough for a person to fit through. But it cost a lot of effort, considering you're badly wounded. You almost fainted, but Caitlin managed to catch you before you dropped down. Quickly escaping, you donât even notice youâre moving and start to slip away again. Feeling a wave of nauseousness hitting you, probably also having a concussion caused by the forceful blow on your head. But you have to keep holding on, as Caitlin keeps repeating.
With blurry sight you make out a person in the distance whoâs wearing a bright red suit. And wearing power dampening cuffs. Itâs Barry, with next to him Cisco, also cuffed.Â
âCaitlin!â, you hear them shout in unison, now feeling loss of contact with the woman supporting you. Carefully placing you in front of the cell where Barry and Cisco are held captive, she kneels down in front of you. You sense her soft hand touching your cheek.
âTry to keep your eyes open for meâ, she whispers at you, âokay?â. Skin feeling cold again now that she let go. In fact, your whole body starts to feel cold. You hear Cisco instructing Caitlin to grab something, but his exact words remain a mystery to you. Maybe he knows how to take off the high-tech cuffs. Or at least youâre hoping he knows how to unlock those, because youâre in no state of freeing them too, which leaves the team trapped inside this building still. Or worse...Â
âWe have to get out of here! Stay with me (Y/N)â. You faintly perceive Caitlinâs words, along with the sound of several heavy footsteps approaching. But youâre slipping away again and your eyelids become heavy. Maybe... just close my eyes for a few secon-
Losing consciousness, youâre not able to hear the angry cursing and shouting along with the distressed voices of your friends anymore.
///
A headache. The worst you have ever had. Ugh, my head feels as if it's been used as a basketball... Hold on, you have to wake up. Now. Youâre still in danger, as are Barry, Cisco and Caitlin. You open your eyes but shut them again, caused by the way too intense light inside⌠Wait-
STAR Labs?
Opening your eyes with more caution now, you catch the silhouette of Caitlin, back turned towards you, busy with some medical equipment on a steel table placed against the wall. You want to sit upright, yet all that happens is an agonizing groan escaping your mouth.
âEasy, easyâ. Alerted by the discomforting sound behind her, Caitlin promptly moves to the bedside to stop you. âYou have a bad concussionâ. You anxiously reach for your head and feel it's bandaged up. âRelax, (Y/N). Weâre safe now, alright?â, Caitlin eases. As a reaction to your disoriented state, she takes your hands in a soft grip to put them down again. âAnd I also took care of the wound on the back of your head. Youâre gonna be fineâ
âThanksâ, you say with a husky voice. Suddenly feeling guilty about passing out before the danger had passed. Before everyone was safe. Much help you provided there.
âNo, thank you. You saved usâ. She smiles sheepishly and glances at the floor. âYou saved me. Againâ
âNo problem, reallyâ, you answer right away and lock eyes with her, âI said I would always be there to help if you needed any. And I meant itâ. Her smile turns into a brighter one, making her brown eyes glint in the still too intense light.
âUm, CaitlinâŚâ, you motion with your eyes down, âyouâre still, like, holding my handâ. She blushes a little and replies, âI knowâ.Â
By now the others of team Flash have noticed youâre awake and quickly join around the bed. Iris asks how youâre feeling, glad that she called you in to help, but was also concerned when she saw your gaping head-wound when The Flash carried you into The Cortex. Cisco thanks you, and is already discussing potential suit designs with functions you probably wonât be needing. Barry just gives a curt nod, probably pissed he got captured in the first place. Then they all turn to Caitlin because Cisco has asked the question of which theyâre all dying to know the answer to. Has she decided what to do now?
âWellâŚâ, Caitlin begins with a thoughtful look, âI think Iâll stay for now. Iâve missed you guys. Missed my familyâ, she says while looking at the team. But does that include you? Where do I fit in?
As if Iris can read thoughts, she suddenly interrupts. âI think (Y/N) needs some rest firstâ, she says with raised eyebrows aimed at you. Is there some secret communication going on youâre unaware of? âSo weâll leave you to it, right guysâ, Iris continues and takes Cisco and Barry with her, basically dragging the naive boys far enough away.Â
Caitlin is the last to leave. She stands up and wants to let go of your hand which she was still holding. Yet, you donât let her. âWait, Caitlin-â
âYes?â, she returns expectantly. Perhaps you did pick up on what Iris was trying to tell you after all. Â
âIs Team Flash the only reason you decided to stay?â, you ask carefully. She stares at you for a second and answers, âWell, yesâ.
âOh...â, you mutter and avert your gaze to the floor, more than disappointed.Â
However, Caitlin wasnât done and speaks again, âBecause apparently thereâs this new member on the teamâ. You glance back at her.
âMaybe Iâd like to get to know this person betterâ, she suggests. Is that so, you think, staying quiet and patiently waiting for the rest. âA firefighter, with heating powersâ.
âSounds like a good matchâ, you say with a suggestive tone, âHeat and Cold. Completing one anotherâ.
Before you know it youâve asked the question that has been occupying your mind for a while now, under the heavy frustration of Iris.
âYou wanna grab a coffee at Jitters sometime?â. âSounds like a dateâ, she answers with a soft smile, âBut first you need to restâ.
Imitating a voice as if following an order, you say, âYes, I shall rest, Dr. Snowâ, when she places a soft kiss on the back of your hand before slowly letting go. Her warm touch imprinted on your skin, you watch her leave until she is out of sight.
Now all alone, you suddenly feel yourself heating up. You close your eyes and immediately fall asleep because youâre so exhausted by everything that has happened today. A warmth ripples through your body, exhausted, yes, but also happy. Drifting away in a peaceful, dreamy sleep...
The smell of fresh coffee beans and the sound of soft chatter from people enjoying a cup or two fills the cozy place. Waiting for a special someone, youâre seated on a couch way too large for one person and gaze at the entrance when the door swings open...

As soon as you swung your legs over the side of your bed the next morning, you knew without one single doubt that your father would ask you about your date last night. And he would want details.
I mean, he was a general in the military, first of all. Of course, he wanted all the information he could get. And he was your father, second of all. You were his only daughter -- his only child!
He had always been a bit overprotective, and it had only intensified once your mother passed away. Now that you made up his entire family world, he felt it was his duty to be there for you as much as he possibly could.
...Well. Thatâs how he put it. In reality, âbe there for youâ really meant âpry into your life.â
He meant well, though, and you loved him dearly.
But, still. Itâs not like you were looking forward to telling him about your date with Brian. Telling him you felt like youâd found your soulmate less than two days after meeting him. Thereâs no way he would take that even remotely well.
You knew he was downstairs at the kitchen table eating breakfast right now, and if you didnât join him soon... The only times you didnât come down to join him for breakfast were when you were sick, and when that happened, he always came to check up on you.Â
So, either way, you would have to talk to him. And youâd never been able to lie to your father. He was a general, for goodness sake. Not only would he be able to tell you were lying, but he would certainly know how to get the truth out of you eventually.
With a soft but anxious sigh, you stood up and shuffled over to retrieve your robe and slippers.
The second you set foot downstairs you heard your father clear his throat.
That was not a coincidence.
âGood morning, Daddy,â you called out as you made your way down the hallway.
When you appeared in the doorway to the kitchen, your father rose his eyebrows and shot you a grin. âCupcake!â He sounded like he was surprised to see you -- as if he hadnât been waiting for you to come downstairs. âGood morning.â
He lifted his mug and took a sip of his coffee as you headed to the fridge for your morning apple. You wondered to yourself how long he could hold out before asking about your date.
And when you slid into the chair across from him just a minute later, you got your answer.
âDid you have a good time last night?â he asked casually, though you knew he was holding himself back from asking about every single detail.
âI did,â you answered with a smile. âA very good time.â
âAnd this... Brian, is it? Heâs --â
âA perfect gentleman,â you interrupted. And you figured you might as well answer his unasked questions, too. âI know I just met him, but I really like him, Daddy. Heâs not like any other guy Iâve ever met, and... I donât know. It just feels... different.â
For some reason, you expected your father to dismiss your feelings and tell you to be careful. He was a more pragmatic sort of man, so you just imagined he wouldnât believe in something like âlove at first sight.â
But, to your surprise, he set down his coffee cup and gazed across the table at you with a very wistful look in his eyes.
âYou sound like me when I met your mother,â he said softly. âI knew from the second I laid eyes on her that she was the woman I would fall in love with. From then on, I never thought about anyone else.â
You slowly set your apple down on the placemat in front of you, your brow furrowing gently as you listened to his words.
â...Really?â you whispered.
He nodded, one corner of his lips tugging into a nostalgic half-smile. âI asked her to marry me after a month, and you came along a year later.â
Youâd known your parents hadnât been married long before your mother got pregnant with you, but you hadnât known theyâd gotten engaged after only a month. Neither of them had ever told you that. Or maybe you had just never asked.
But now you were curious. More than curious.
âHow did it feel when you met her?â you asked, resting an elbow on the table and leaning forward slightly in your chair.
âWell,â he sighed. âIt felt... like I knew my life had just changed. Thatâs the easiest way to describe it. I just... knew.â
Your heart skipped a beat inside your chest, and you inhaled shakily before saying, âThatâs how I feel. Like I just know Iâm going to fall in love with him.â
It felt strange saying that to your father, but his smile actually grew after you told him.
âYou donât know how glad I am to hear that,â he said, reaching across and holding out his hand to you. You slid your fingers into his palm, and he grasped them tightly. âThe last thing I want is for you to get hurt, but I trust you. I love you. Youâre the last piece of your mother I have left, and the only thing I want is for you to be happy.â
Tears filled your eyes as you nodded, the lump of emotion forming in your throat making it difficult to say anything.
And then your fatherâs gaze quickly transformed into one of stern gravity. âBut Iâm still going to need to meet this young man to make sure heâs good enough for you.â
A breathless chuckle escaped through your nose, and you murmured, âYes, of course, Daddy.â
He squeezed your hand once more before letting it go and continuing eating his breakfast. You did the same, picking up your apple and crunching into it. And, as you chewed, you couldnât stop a smile from pulling at your lips. Youâd thought your father would think you were crazy or that he wouldnât believe you and would forbid you from seeing Brian again. Youâd been fairly certain he wouldnât take your news well... but it had been quite the opposite.
You didnât normally like to be proven wrong, but in this situation, you were more than delighted.
Once your father headed off to work, you went back upstairs to get ready for another day of volunteering at the hospital. You intended to stay much longer today, even if you did see Brian visiting his injured chum. Cat, the head nurse, seemed like someone you wanted to become friends with, and you werenât going to make a good impression on her if you only volunteered for an hour or so at a time.
So, as you approached the hospital doors about twenty minutes later, you resolved to work hard, long, and distraction-free.Â
The first person you saw upon opening the door, however, was Cat, who was leaning against the reception desk with a sly smirk on her red lips. And the first thing she said was, âHow was your date last night?â
You paused, your head jerking back slightly in surprise. âUh -- what -- how --â
âI was at the movie theatre,â she told you with a casual half-shrug. âI saw you two, and you looked mighty cozy during that movie.â
Almost instantly, your cheeks began to burn, and they were obviously turning pink because Catâs smirk became even more sly.
She leaned closer to you, nudging you gently with her elbow and waggling her eyebrows. âHow was it, huh? Everything you wanted it to be?â
You let out a breathless chuckle before answering her. â...Everything... and more,â you muttered bashfully.
Cat squealed, much to your embarrassment, and clapped her hands together gleefully. âOh, I told you Iâm a sucker for a good love story!â
And that gave you the perfect segue to change the subject. âSpeaking of, didnât you like the movie?â
Cat let her hands fall to her side, the joy slowly leaving her expression as she shrugged. âIt was all right. Cary Grantâs not really my type.â
Unsurprisingly, your brow furrowed deeply and your eyes widened. âExcuse me? Heâs not -- what is your type then?!â
Because how could Cary Grant not be someoneâs type?!
âHeâs too... I donât want to say masculine, but I donât know how else to describe it,â she responded. âI like a man I can take care of, not one who wants to take care of me. Iâm plenty able to do that myself.â
...Okay, when she put it that way, it made a whole lot more sense. âIâm guessing thatâs why you became a nurse,â you pointed out. âSo you could take care of people and not the other way around.â
âPrecisely,â Cat nodded, her lips curving into a proud grin. âNow, if youâll follow me, Iâve got some more laundry to fold.â
She turned on her heel, and you began to follow her down the hallway. All this talk of men and types had you curious, though. You werenât normally one to pry, but... I mean, Cat knew far more about your dating life than anyone else, so you figured it wouldnât be totally out of line to ask.
âDo you have a boyfriend, then?â you asked. âOne whom you can take care of?â
Cat replied with a single, emotionless laugh.
âLetâs just say Iâm in-between relationships,â she replied. âAlthough...â
But then she cut herself off and chuckled out a soft never mind.
âNo, what?â you pressed, hoping you werenât being too rude. âAlthough...?â
Cat suddenly stopped walking, and you almost ran into her. But before you could apologize, she grasped your wrist and scurried down to the laundry room. She quickly closed the door behind you, her brow furrowed with guilt.
âWhat?â you asked breathlessly. âWhatâs going on?â
âItâs... the guy with the broken leg,â she whispered. âI know I shouldnât be falling for patients, but heâs just really handsome, and he reminds me of a little kitten, and the way he smiles at me gets my heart all in a knot.â
You stared at her for a few moments, absolutely speechless. Cat seemed like the strong, independent, unflappable type of girl who can expertly flirt with a guy and he wonât even know sheâs flirting with him. And here she was, wringing her hands nervously and talking about kittens and knotted hearts.
âI --â
âI think he likes me, too,â she continued. âI just -- I donât know what to do.â
You blinked before you finally found words. âI mean -- I think you should tell him. You said it was the guy with the broken leg?â
Cat nodded.
âBrianâs friend?â
She nodded again.
A smile pulled at your lips, and you took Catâs hands, holding them reassuringly. âHe told me yesterday -- Brian told me that his friend likes you. His exact words were âheâs carryinâ a real big torch.â That youâve got gumption, and thatâs exactly what he likes in a woman. You need to tell him how you feel!â
Catâs brow furrowed even more, and a hesitant frown curved her red lips. âI donât know...â
âHe just broke his leg, right?â you urged. âHe wonât be staying here long. If you really donât want to confess to him now, just give him hints.â
âBut I have!â she replied. âIâve smiled and let my touches linger and given him chocolate pudding with every meal!â
âOkay... Then... Maybe just tell him you want to go out once heâs no longer a patient?â
Cat pursed her lips at you, releasing her hands from your hold and crossing her arms over her chest. âThatâs the same as confessing.â
You were about to make another suggestion, but Catâs gasp cut you off.
âI know!â she exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. âYou -- you can bring him his lunch and talk about me and make it obvious that Iâm interested. And then once heâs discharged, he can ask me out.â
You had jumped back a little when sheâd said âyouâ -- her voice had been very insistent, and sheâd pointed right at you.
But... it really wasnât a bad idea.
âI can do that,â you nodded. âBringing a patientâs meal is definitely something Iâve done as a volunteer. Many times.â
Cat broke out into a smile, and before you knew it, sheâd stepped up to you and enveloped you in a hug. âOh, thank you,â she squealed softly. âThis means weâre friends now, and I promise I will return the favor.â
âNo sweat,â you chuckled, lifting your arms and squeezing her back. âWhatâs a favor between friends?â
âAll right,â Cat said, pulling back and grinning at you. âLetâs get this laundry done. We should be done just before lunchtime.â
âIâll make sure we are,â you replied, taking a page from Catâs book and shooting her a sly wink.
âLunchtime,â you announced as you approached the hospital bed, carrying a tray of food and hoping your nerves werenât too obvious.
The patient, whose name you had learned was Wonpil, pushed himself into a seated position, and you couldnât help but notice he had a very disappointed frown on his lips.
âWhereâs Cat?â he asked as you carefully set the tray down on his lap.
âSheâs... sheâs a little busy right now,â you explained, not meeting his eye so he wouldnât know you were lying. âIâm a volunteer, so I offered to deliver lunch today.â
Wonpilâs frown immediately disappeared, his brows lifting in surprise. âOh -- youâre -- Brianâs --â
You felt your cheeks begin to warm, and you continued to avoid Wonpilâs gaze. âY--yes,â you chuckled. âI guess he told you when he came to visit you yesterday?â
Wonpil nodded quickly, his lips now curved into the sweetest smile. Now you knew why Cat had called him a kitten; he was probably the most adorable guy youâd ever seen.
âIâm Wonpil,â he greeted, holding his hand out toward you.
You took it delicately, shaking it and introducing yourself in turn.
âThank you for my lunch,â Wonpil grinned. âEven though Cat didnât bring it, Iâm glad I got to meet you.â
âMe too,â you replied with a shy smile. And then you inhaled deeply because this was your chance. You sat on the edge of his bed, smoothing your dress over your lap. âSpeaking of Cat, though... Brian told me you... have a thing for her?â
Wonpil had been looking at the food on his tray, but upon hearing your question, his gaze snapped up to meet yours. His lips were now curved down, his forehead wrinkled.
âHe told you that?â
âWell... yeah,â you said, laughing softly. âBut itâs kind of obvious. Youâve mentioned her twice already.â
â...Oh, yeah.â Wonpil chuckled guiltily and shrugged.
âI hope Iâm not overstepping, but... I think you should go for it,â you told him, hoping you sounded as casual as you were trying to. âI think youâre going to be discharged any day now, and in my humble opinion, the first thing you should do once you are is... ask her out.â
âI... should?â he asked cautiously.
You nodded, shooting him an encouraging grin. âShe told me she likes --â
You were about to tell him what sheâd really told you: she likes guys she can take care of. But the only thing you really knew about Wonpil right now was that he was in the hospital. He didnât know Cat had told you about him, so you probably shouldnât mention any of that.
âShe told me she likes guys with really adorable smiles,â you finished. âAnd I think you have a pretty adorable smile.â
That adorable smile of his instantly appeared, his eyes lighting up with hope. âReally? You think Iâd really have a chance if I asked her out?â
âI really think so,â you assured him.
âWell, well, well, what do we have here?â
You jumped a little at the sudden interruption, standing up and turning to see Brian -- a smirking Brian -- walking toward Wonpilâs bed. Your heart immediately skipped about five beats, and you pressed your lips together to stop an incredibly giddy smile from forming on your lips.
âY/N brought me my lunch,â Wonpil answered. âAnd she told me to ask out the nurse Iâve been falling for.â
Brianâs eyebrows rose, and he shot you a questioning glance. âOh, did she?â
Wonpil nodded vigorously. âI think Iâm going to once Iâm discharged.â
Brian held out one hand then, flashing a piece of paper he was holding. âSpeaking of, the receptionist gave me these.â
âWhat are those?â Wonpil inquired curiously.
âYour discharge papers! You can leave once you finish your lunch,â Brian grinned.
Wonpilâs eyes widened, and he froze for a moment... but then he quickly picked up the sandwich on his tray and stuffed it into his mouth.
Brian chuckled, shaking his head a little before taking a step closer to you.
Your heart began to beat double-time, and the corners of your lips tugged up into a soft smile.
âHey,â he greeted quietly.
âHi,â you replied. âHow are you?â
âIâm great, though Iâm doing even better now.â
Your heart jumped a little, and you let out an almost silent giggle.
Brianâs expression then turned a bit more serious, and he knit his eyebrows together before he asked, âHey, while heâs stuffinâ his face over there... can I talk to you?â
His urgent tone was pretty obvious, and it made your stomach drop down to your feet. He had just told you he was doing even better now that he was in your presence, so it couldnât be anything bad... right? But why did he sound so grave?
You simply nodded, and Brian reached out to gently grasp your elbow. He led you to the next bed over, tugging at the curtain so you could have a bit of privacy.
âListen,â he started, making your stomach even more fluttery. âThereâre rumors goinâ around that... weâll be shipping out sometime soon. I donât know if itâs true, and if it is, I donât know when... I just... â
His gaze pierced into yours, and you didnât even realize you were holding your breath -- but you most definitely were.
âI want to spend as much time as I can with you before that happens.â
You let out that breath, exhaling with relief. Although, you werenât really relieved that he was probably going to be leaving soon... but you werenât going to think too much about that right now.
âOkay,â you whispered, tipping your head into a tiny nod. âYes. Me too.â
Brian broke out into a smile, and he leaned in to press his lips to your cheek. He lingered there, the tip of his nose brushing against your skin. You felt his eyelashes flutter against your cheekbone, and it sent a delicious chill down your spine.
âI gotta help Wonpil get back to base, and then I have some work to do... but how about dinner again tonight?â
You nodded again, but then a thought popped into your head. âI -- Iâm sure my dad wonât mind.â
Hopefully, he wouldnât mind.
Brian froze for just a moment, a flash of panic darting through his gaze. â...Oh. I... didnât really think about that.â
Another thought popped into your head. It might have been a crazy one, but you voiced it, anyway.
âWhy donât you come over to my house instead?â you asked, your eyebrows lifting with expectation and curiosity.
Brian froze yet again.
â...Go... to your house? And... have dinner. With you. And your father. The... new general?â
He gulped anxiously.

my life has been one big drawn out joke recently. here are some topics i will be covering in my budding career as a stand up comedian:
1. my managerâs poorly disguised cocaine addiction and every other fucking thing about him. could go on for ages about this man.
2. the old man who complained about everything from the clothing section to the price of a ps4 controller to the lack of public restrooms (disregarding the multiple signs around the store saying there are no public restrooms). he later complained about again not being able to use the restroom despite being a paying customer. he proceeded to dig in our trash can, pull out my coworkerâs used coffee cup, dump the remaining liquid back into the trash can, look me dead in the eyes, and, in an attempt to guilt me a third time into letting him use our restroom, told me he had to pee in this coffee cup because, despite him being a paying customer, i wouldnât let him use our restroom. i told him okay and walked away.
3. dressing up as velma for halloween was cute and fun and i got to find out which of my regulars wish to know me carnally, but just as velma. one of these guys told me quietly that he always thought velma was the sexy one. he was rather embarrassed to tell me this, hinting at his deep shame. the other? well he came in the next day and asked me, rather demandingly, where the wig was. told me i should get that haircut, or at least wear the wig more often. that his daughter had that haircut. [insert nervous laughter]. mike, andrew, please, youâre making me blush.
3a. on that note, letâs talk about john, who thought, first of all, that he was even in my league. absolutely not. secondly, this 49 year old man thought - no, assumed - we were near the same age. iâm 27 and rather babyfaced but in this time of covid, faces are a hard thing to come by. iâm assuming he assumed i was 50-ish because of the dark circles around my eyes, as all he could see of me was my eyes due to the mask and baseball cap i was wearing that night. he was going to ask me to dinner, but when i told him my age, realized i was âprobablyâ too young for him. this caused me to have an existential crisis, by the way, and now iâm obsessed with under-eye masks and creams. next time he came in, he inquired about my age again. âoh, thatâs the same age as my daughterâ. so now thatâs two customers who want me to stand in as their sexy daughter. thatâs fun for me! the third time he came in, i hid out in the back and he asked my coworkers about me. coworker one told him i didnât have a name. coworker two told him she couldnât give out employee information. the fourth time he came in was the same night i was worried we were going to get murdered by a (different) regular who had lost his mind, and upon seeing john in my store again, hopefully looking around for me, i was hoping that other guy would come and shoot me down. rather be dead than accused of looking like i was 50 again.
4. recently deciding to treat myself by consuming 20mg of thc and watching buzzfeed unsolved in a paralyzed state for 4 hours. i cried about how sad and lonely ghosts must be.Â
5. the little girls who were so convinced i was a legitimate witch and had full on meltdowns in the store, forcing their parents to stop shopping and leave, because their little girls were inconsolable in the presence of me, a 27 year old in some black velvet pants. again. the dark circles.
6. learning, on four different occasions, that i definitely look/dress/act like i sell dildos, butt plugs, nipple clamps, and other sexual adult paraphernalia. a lot to unpack here. literally left me speechless when my coworker told me this. i couldnât even respond to his âiâve been to lots of sex shops and you look like every girl who works thereâ comment. i should have been able to. such low hanging fruit. but i just sat there with my mouth open, trying to figure out exactly what about me gives off that vibe.
6a. realizing i tell people i work at a toy store means one thing to me and another to everyone else, apparently.
7. "third base is you telling me about your girlfriendâ and all other bro-ista related shenanigans.
8. rapid-fire bit about various miscellaneous customers:
8a. the guy who decided it was appropriate to have an entire conversation about my incredibly average belt. dude. bro. i know my pussy is popping. donât look at my crotch while youâre talking to me about my crotch.
8b. a very stable man pretending to hold up the store with a nerf gun and then singing grandsonâs âoh noâ to me while making uncomfortable eye contact (still cradling the nerf gun of course)
8c. the cop-hating neo-nazi who rescued a yorkshire terrier which he now carries around in a little pink dress. he didnât know what a yorkshire terrier was. apparently doesnât know what cops and/or nazis are. we call him meth-head gun kelly because he looks like machine gun kelly on an intense downward spiral. also his last name is kelly. i donât know the joke wrote itself.
8d. the teenage boy who stuck his whole hand up his girlfriendâs coochie in the middle of the store, got a real big teenaged boner about it, and shopped around like this was normal and okay.
8e. the stupid dumb idiot regular to called in a bogus mass shooting threat without blocking his number and caused me to have a drawn out anxiety attack for at least 6 hours only to come in the very next night and act like nothing happened.
9. having arthritis in my back at age TWENTY-SEVEN FOR FUCKS SAKE MAN
10. âoh my asshole!â âif i have to see someoneâs toes they better be immaculate. i better be able to suck on those toesâ âpeople fuck dead bodies in this gameâ and every other asinine thing my coworker says to me on a regular basis.
11. and of course, my dad just straight up losing his god damn mind. hiding quarters in trees just to see if anyone notices. hunting snails late at night. choosing to spend upwards of $30,000 on home repairs because heâs going stir crazy. just. every single thing about my dad.
