THE DEETS: While serving a VERY important purpose - in helping people to look for visible/psychological warning signs of child abuse, and reminding people JUST how important it is to say something - you may want to *PROCEED W/CAUTION.*

This is currently trending #2 on Netflix, so you may see it in your feed. Just a warning, after previously seeing people get upset over the violence in Netflix’s other recent offering, “Don’t F*ck With Cats.” There are many pictures/descriptions of what Gabriel endured. There’s also the aspect of #homophobia, based on the fact that he was tortured because his mother and her bf called him “gay,” for loving his gay uncle (& partner) that raised him.

You know yourselves best, but I just wanted to help you to make an informed decision on the show. This may be very triggering/upsetting for those that have experienced abuse, or that get very emotional about children. To me, it was a rough (but important) watch. If you’re a #teacher or #socialworker (or other mandated reporter), I think it’s important to at least be aware of the case.

Multiple deputies listed in civil suit for failure to report neglect

San Bernardino County is being sued because multiple deputies and at least one Welfare Fraud Investigator failed to report a mother for child neglect, resulting in the child being sexually abused "most likely over 1,000 times" by a now former deputy. This information comes from a complaint filed in a civil lawsuit against San Bernardino County. Per the lawsuit, the child's mother wouldn't provide for her child's basic needs, didn't register them for school, would abandon the child while doing drugs, and didn't stop her child from moving in with Deputy Jeremie Cox, an unrelated male who had no legal authority to watch after the child. While the child was living with Deputy Cox, Cox would sexually abuse the minor "over 1,000 times", would take them on vacations and would have the child do ride alongs. Deputy Cox was arrested in September of 2021 after a male victim reported him to the Crimes Against Children Unit with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Jeremie Cox has been charged with 27 felonies, most of them are related to the victim he sexually abused from 2013-2016, four felonies for sexually abusing a child from 2001-2002 and possession of a machine gun. That Happened!

I once assisted in the delivery of a newborn who’s mother came to the floor screaming like a maniac. She was on the verge of delivering her baby and clearly on some sort of drugs. Within 5 minutes of her arrival, she delivered a healthy baby and all was well. We of course found that the mother was in fact on drugs which lead to us following protocol and calling the appropriate organizations and services. The mother was of course not happy with our mandated reporting and didn’t hide it.

At one point while taking care of the baby the mother observed that I only used one had to hold the newborn. She then decided to inform me that she prefer it if I held the baby with both hands. I almost laughed her face. Only then was she worried about the safety of her child. But of course she gave zero fucks before that moment and it was me who was going to cause the most harm to her child.
