I'm an assistant manager which is like crazy to me sometimes because i often still feel like a kid.
HOWEVER
I had a 16 year old cashier today, who I only just met today and she has only worked one other shift. And the register really makes her anxious because first job jitters and stress (and lets be honest our register systems are so old and not user friendly so fair).
And I was talking to her at the end of the night as I was counting money. And I asked how she felt (cause I kinda left her alone quite a bit, but we weren't that busy). And she told me she learned she was really bad with money and she still felt pretty shakey.
And I started with "you can't be that bad with money because your drawer is perfect, not under nor over"
And I could have left there but then I went "This is your first job right?" and she said yes. And I said "ya know when I first started working I used to bawl my eyes out before every shift. it gets better."
BUT I also like fumbled the delivery a little bit, so either she thinks I gave her an encouraging little anecdote about how the fear goes away eventually OR she thinks she got a really weird anecdote from her assistant manager she just met.
#idk what she thought was going to come out of my mouth#but by her facial expression when i said “bawl my eyes out” it was definitely not that#I also have no idea what made me say it other than remembering i needed to remember to be more encouraging and managery with my coworkers#to encourage them to succeed because sometimes i forget i'm a manager or that i have to do anything regarding interacting with my cashiers#unless they directly ask for help or if i'm giving them a task#because i haven't been in charge of people in about a year and the people i was in charge of then were all my friends#because i grew into the leadership role#so i've never been in charge of people entirely unfamiliar to me before and its incredibly different#not to mention that last job was more of a team environment of working together in a small department#whereas this is a whole store and it doesn't actually have departments and its just all very different so i'm still learning

Hey cosmos,do you have any advice on trying to not care less about what others think, especially when it's those you work with and it's not work related opinions that still effect you.
My boss affects me so much with a lot she says, yes, it's called mommy issues, yes, I'm in therapy BUT older woman really fuck with my head 😭😭 (not all just this certain one) I can never tell if she's genuine or sarcastic. And some of the stuff she says actually hits me hard lmao, and I feel like I can't say anything since she's yk my boss and I love this job. But I hate caring so much. Over stupid lil things.
But if she like jokingly puts me down, or says something sarcastic that I took seriously, I honestly feel like crying, ugh, it's so fucking embarrassing. In working on it, it's a lot, but ugh. Any advice would help. I hope that's okay to ask of you.
i need to admit something i haven’t before because it’s important here- i spent almost the entirety of last year being bullied by my manager and it nearly killed me (i mean that as seriously as you think i do)
do not let that become you
it may not be this serious right now but whatever level it is at, you do not deserve it, you don’t deserve to feel this way for any reason- let alone because of the actions of someone meant to be guiding and supporting you
you said you feel like you cannot say anything because she’s your boss- i was in the exact same position, i’m telling you now you absolutely can say something and you should seek support
people like this get their kicks out of making others feel small and feel helpless, you deserve love and kindness and success in this role 🫶🏼 don’t ever let anyone else make you think any different
#i am sick and fucking tired seeing absolute sociopaths in managerial roles running people’s lives#keep seeking therapy join the union if you aren’t already protect yourself!#you have my love and support always#tw suicide mention

regardless of whether the marketing for hll says it's actually really anti marcos guys we promise (which i have a hard time believing anyway but ok) literally nobody needed or wanted a white guy writing a musical about (and profiting from) filipino history
#like listen i have no skin in the game here i am not filipino#even if the musical somehow turns out to have the most woke book in the world (highly doubtful but ok.)#people seem to be overlooking the fact that Filipino People Can And Do Write Musicals Too#broadway equivalent of The Mouse presenting itself as soo culturally sensitive by releasing film after film#set in noneuropean locations and featuring noneuropean characters and voice casts#while still hiring white people in literally every major creative and managerial role behind the scenes#like come on.#sasha speaks

New Leaders Training
Promoting high performers to managerial roles is a common practice within organizations. However, excelling in individual tasks doesn't necessarily translate to possessing effective leadership skills. Recognizing and nurturing potential managers through comprehensive training programs is essential, not just for the individual’s growth, but for the advancement of the entire organization. New leaders training plays a pivotal role in preparing these individuals to take on managerial responsibilities with confidence and competence.
The Role of Organizational Culture
For new managers, understanding the nuances of their organization's culture is of utmost importance. This comprehension helps align their management style with the organization's values and expectations, which is especially crucial in sectors with stringent regulations and frequent updates. Periodic refreshers, whether for new or seasoned managers, help them stay attuned to the evolving corporate landscape, ensuring their approach remains relevant and effective.
Organizational culture is the backbone of any company, influencing how employees interact, make decisions, and perceive their work environment. A well-defined culture provides a framework for new leaders, guiding their decision-making processes and interactions with team members. Through new leaders training, managers can develop a deeper understanding of these cultural dynamics, enabling them to lead with empathy and effectiveness.
Fostering an Inclusive Workforce
Creating an inclusive workplace is more than just a moral obligation; it's a strategic advantage. An inclusive environment values every employee's uniqueness, which in turn boosts performance, productivity, and job satisfaction. Training new managers to promote diversity effectively is essential. It cultivates a healthier work environment and propels the organization toward more innovative solutions.
Diversity and inclusion should be at the forefront of any managerial training program. By embracing these principles, new leaders can create teams that are not only diverse in background but also rich in ideas and perspectives. This diversity drives innovation and problem-solving, leading to better business outcomes. Furthermore, an inclusive workplace fosters a sense of belonging among employees, reducing turnover rates and enhancing overall morale.
Mastering Conflict Resolution
With the growth and diversification of the workforce, conflicts are inevitable. Effective conflict resolution strategies are necessary for maintaining harmony and productivity. Managerial training must, therefore, include robust conflict resolution modules, equipping managers with the tools to handle and resolve disputes adeptly.
Conflict resolution is a critical skill for any manager. In a diverse workforce, differing opinions and approaches can lead to disagreements. However, these conflicts can be opportunities for growth if handled correctly. Training new leaders in conflict resolution equips them with the ability to mediate disputes, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment. This not only maintains team harmony but also ensures that conflicts lead to constructive outcomes rather than lingering tensions.
Engaging in Hiring and Retention
While the HR department typically handles hiring, effective managers also play a crucial role in this process. Understanding the organization's policies on recruitment and termination is vital. New leaders training should include guidance on how to conduct interviews and make informed hiring decisions, ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute to the organization's talent strategy.
The hiring process is a critical aspect of a manager's role. New leaders need to understand how to identify candidates who align with the organization's culture and values. Through training, they can develop skills in conducting interviews, evaluating candidates, and making decisions that support the long-term goals of the company. Additionally, retention strategies should be a focus, as keeping top talent is just as important as acquiring it. New leaders training should cover methods to engage and motivate employees, reducing turnover and enhancing team stability.
The Strategic Impact of Managerial Training
Investing in comprehensive managerial training does not merely prepare managers for their roles—it transforms them into pivotal assets for the company. Such training programs foster the development of critical skills like leadership, communication, and strategic thinking. Through new leaders training, organizations can expect enhanced productivity, increased job satisfaction among employees, and overall organizational success.
Managerial training is not a one-time event but a continuous journey. As the business landscape evolves, so too must the skills of its leaders. New leaders training provides a solid foundation upon which managers can build as they encounter new challenges and opportunities in their roles. By equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge, organizations can ensure that their managers are not only effective in their current roles but are also prepared to take on greater responsibilities in the future.
Conclusion
In conclusion, new leaders training is an investment that pays dividends in the form of enhanced leadership, improved team dynamics, and a more inclusive workplace. By focusing on key areas such as understanding organizational culture, fostering diversity, mastering conflict resolution, and engaging in effective hiring practices, organizations can empower their managers to lead with confidence and competence. The result is a more productive, satisfied, and loyal workforce, driving the organization towards long-term success.

This was during the Producer Live Letter #73 which took place in early October 2022 :D link to Nova Crystallis's thread summary of the live letter here. (endwalker and post-endwalker spoilers, specifically patch 6.2 in the thread)
Btw in my quest for information i found out one of the new lead writers's name is daichi hiroi.
He wrote the bard quests and the magical ranged dps quests for shb and pandemonium i think the game's in good hand
#i remember when the live letter happened and a small bunch of people were like “oh he helped write save the queen 7.0 msq is DOOMED”#lmfao#but also all the bard boys fans screaming and crying bc Boys Mentioned was such a nice thing to experience#one thing you gotta note is that leads in a game development department like art/writing etc do not do all of the work alone#leads have to do a lot of managerial work like meetings and overseeing their teams and may not have the time to do more than oversee/review#with the less senior team members making most of the 'content' which is guided by their leads#tl;dr hiroi isn't single handedly writing dawntrail nor did ishikawa single handedly write enw and shb etc; it's a collaborative effort#also oda and ishikawa are senior story designers and still have a supervisory role in the scenario writing amongst other responsibilities#not to diminish hiroi's role bc overseeing an expansion's scenario and keeping things coherent is a huge responsibility#also they have several teams of people in writing bc you have everything from scenario writing (the MSQ) to quest text to flavour text#there is So Much Text in one expansion#source: not a games writer but worked in games enough to have an idea of team structure and pipeline#anyway#ffxiv#endwalker spoilers
