Managerial Success Factors Unlocked
Becoming a manager often marks a significant milestone in one’s career. Transitioning from an individual contributor to a people managerial success factors brings its own set of rewards and challenges. While the initial perks such as a larger workspace or a significant salary bump are exhilarating, they are just the beginning of a complex journey.
Understanding the Managerial Landscape
First-time managers often find themselves entangled in the intricate politics of organizational life. Contrary to the often-cited organizational values like collaboration, the reality on the ground can be starkly different. This misalignment can quickly dampen the initial enthusiasm of new managers.
Navigating Early Challenges
Our experiences across various organizations show that new managers frequently struggle to adapt to their roles. Successful management requires a fundamental shift in perspective—success is no longer about personal output but the accomplishments of your team.
Are your team members:
Working diligently?
Focusing on the right tasks at the right times?
Motivated to perform their best?
To truly excel, managers must master the art of delegation and direction. Tools like the Everything DiSC Management Report can provide invaluable insights into your strengths and weaknesses in these areas.
Recognizing Team Strengths
Effective delegation goes beyond the willingness to hand off tasks—it requires matching team members’ skills with the needs of the job. By leveraging the strengths of your team, not only can tasks be completed efficiently and on time, but team members are also more likely to be engaged and motivated.
The Double-Edged Sword of Management Styles
Overemphasis on Task Orientation
New managers might struggle with a perceived loss of control, leading them to micromanage or exert excessive pressure on their team. This approach can strain relationships and lead to burnout, undermining team productivity and morale.
Excessive People Orientation
Conversely, overly prioritizing interpersonal relationships can also be detrimental. Managers who fail to maintain professional boundaries may find that team performance suffers as deadlines are overlooked and tasks are neglected in favor of maintaining harmony.
The Importance of Networking
Beyond managing their teams, first-time managers must also navigate their relationships with senior management. Building a strong external network is crucial for influencing both your team and higher-ups, ensuring the best outcomes for all stakeholders.
The First Time Manager Program
For those looking to deepen their managerial success factorsl skills, a structured First Time Manager program can be beneficial. Typically lasting 6-9 months, these programs include workshops, micro-projects, and psychometric assessments designed to bolster the competencies of new managers.

The Mentor
"Let me worry about the fine print." Elias folded his hands into his lap, "I have to carry my weight around here, after all." Feren scoffed, though the look she shot Elias along with it was nothing but fond. “Come on, Elias. You talk about ‘carrying your weight’ as if we wouldn’t be dead in the water without you.”
So much time has passed since then, but she knows that the words became truer than ever.

nothing like scrolling & nodding in agreement halfway down an essay on da4 only to reach the claim that the qunari were one of the “most nuanced civilizations” in dragon age prior to veilguard
#sorry. what are you talking about?#i don’t think we’ve been playing the same dragon age games actually.#where is the nuance? can you point me in her direction?#the only qunari characters we’ve interacted with at length are part of the antaam or ben hassrath. a handful of tal-vashoth too.#we never SEE qunari civilization so even if the nuance was there we haven't been privy to it#and that’s deliberate#they had a half cooked idea of a ‘militant islamic borg’ culture (rly nuanced concept — go team!)#and they’ve slowly been trying to flesh it out and make it feel like a living culture as they expanded on the series#the caveat of “eveything u heard before was the MILITARY'S PERSPECTIVE” is arguably an effective way to manage this kind of worldbuilding#‘most nuanced’ is fucking crazy though#bioware critical

Hi Medic! I was wondering, can the medigun do anything about illnesses? Like colds or flus, since they're not really injuries. Are they something you have to deal with a lot? Thank you have a good day!!
i have answered this here before! and the short answer is no, sickness and illness usually has to be dealt with the long way....
although i am grateful to report that it isnt something i have to deal with too often! but on the occasion it does happen it is always a hassle, and when one of us gets sick the rest of the team unfortunately tends to follow soon after.
#the horrible domino effect of a contagious illness....#i do my best to contain it before it spreads but#knowing this team im sure you can guess its much more difficult than it looks to manage aheh..#the doc is in#tf2#lore

Twst Rwby Au, but it's just the twst characters in the plot of rwby.
Silver as Ruby because of the silver eyes, and the fact that they both look up to their parents. Malleus is Yang, but still as awkward as ever, dude can't socialize unless you talk about gargoyles or weapons to him. (Also Yang's name means sunny little dragon, so it's PERFECT)
As for the rest of the team, Leona is Blake because cat people (Farena is the leader of the White Fang but was killed by Adam, so there's this whole revenge quest in later volumes). He and Malleus are a couple just like the bees!
Kalim as Weiss! Both white haired heirs with too much on their shoulders, though he is much nicer than V1 Weiss.
Oz is Crowley because headmasters with ulterior motives and a big relevance to the plot. Yuu is Oscar, they're suffering SO MUCH. Grim is a grimm, but he just behaves like a cat and protects Yuu.
Riddle as Pyrrha. Both talented redheads with potential and a sense of duty that ended up kickstarting the plot (Riddle's overblot and the Fall of Beacon).
Still not sure about the rest of JNPR, since part of me wants to add Trey and Cater as Ren and Nora, while the other wants Jamil and Azul to be part of the team... maybe add Ruggie and just make it a second year team. Or forget renora and let it be just the octotrio annoying Riddle until his untimely demise.
Team STRQ is just all of Malleus and Silver's parents. Meleanor is Summer Rose, still haunting the narrative, Lillia is Qrow, training all the kids and being the fun uncle/parent, Levan is Raven, following the tradition to leave their loved ones for reasons. The Dawn Knight as Tai.
Whether they are all dating or it's just Meleanor/Lillia/Levan with Dawn knight tagging along as the calm uncle it's up for debate.
Rambling a bit here, but Ruggie or Azul for Jaune would be interesting... Ruggie doesn't have a semblance and forged his documents to attend Beacon Academy, but ends up as Riddle's partner, who, despite being mad at the rule breaking, notes that Ruggie is smart and skilled and the lack of semblance shouldn't be a problem, it will come sooner or later (Ruggie made a really good first impression during initiation, also Crowley didn't seem to care for the lie, so no problem).
As for Azul, well, he also forged his documents and is SO SELF-CONSCIOUS of lacking a semblance or not having the best stamina, but his team encourages him and he becomes a talented sniper. Then Riddle dies and it's depression time, especially if we keep the bit where Pyrrha locks Jaune away for his safety. He just thinks he is holding people back and blames himself.
I tried to add a few ships, but mostly went with the characters and themes that matched. It also helps that rwby and twst are based on fairytales, though only a few people actually match. Since we have Kalim as Weiss instead of Neige (the team wouldn't survive if it was three NRC characters with a RSA student).
#silver's semblance still revolves around dreams#though he manages to talk to riddle after his death#thanks to this silver now has the rose petal effect when attacking#malleus either loses an arm or wing...#also a bit of his horn#found family octotrio and riddle is great!#they had finally managed to make him comfortable with the team before he died#ortho is obviously Penny while Idia is Pietro#in this case silver adopts him as a younger sibling#the only ships would be bumbleby with leona and malleus. whiterose with Kalim and Silver. Trey and Cater as Ren and Nora.#and riddle with either azul or ruggie. because pyrrha and jaune#twst#rwby#silver vanrouge#malleus draconia#leona kingscholar#kalim al asim#riddle rosehearts#lillia vanrouge#twst book 7 spoilers#azul ashengrotto#ruggie bucchi#floyd leech#jade leech#riddle overlooking the document forging is the start of his character arc#ruby rose#yang xiao long#blake belladonna#weiss schnee

I can't help but wonder if jüri vips is punching a wall right about now
#sometimes i have to think about the dominos that had to fall for liam to end up in this situation#id hope that this FAFO was effective enough at making an example of the guy to permanently discourage junior drivers from saying racist shit#and i don't want to paint liam as some angel#i just find it interesting how liam's career trajectory has benefited from people around him being racist#like red bull management dumps vips for saying the n-word (as they should) but that's obviously for PR because everyone knows#that horner and marko don't give a fuck. this focuses the attention in f2 on liam.#and now almost 3 years later horner is unable to see yuki as anything but a honda driver because of his nationality#and that more subtle racism again ends up benefitting liam because he is the guy who happens to be there at the right moment#about a year ago (after i read yellowface by rf kuang) i started brainstorming a satirical story loosely based on all this#about how in the end even the mainstream liberal side of '''cancel culture'''' can end up primarily helping white people#it wasn't f1 related just vaguely inspired but the stuff i was thinking about at the time keeps coming true in some way#in the end my feelings about liam are pretty neutral. i'm excited that a kiwi is at a top team#but i don't really care about his personality outside of his friendship with yuki. also i am NOT ruling out a mid season swap. mark my words#would like to see a win tho

You're more amazing than catchphrases
90% of all Yugioh card effects are either "move a card from one zone to another" or "negate an effect" so I made a bunch of combat keywords so that monsters can actually be interesting on the field.
#asks#custom cards#also i managed to make them all different subtypes and get exactly 2 of each attribute so that's cool#anyway i'm barely even exaggerating about the 90% thing#“add a card from deck to hand” “special summon a monster” “destroy a card”#so much stuff is just moving cards between zones#and a lot of the rest is just “negate a card/effect” “effects can't target this” “can't be destroyed by effects”#just moving cards around or preventing cards from being moved around#how about actually caring about the battle phase?#yugioh's combat mechanics are really different than magic's so directly translating stuff like menace or haste doesn't work#but the difference also means there's so much opportunity for different abilities like Tricky or Stealthy or Guardian!#some translate fairly well like Vigilance into Resilient and Double Strike into Double Attack#and some are practically 1-to-1 like Deathtouch to Venomous and Trample to Piercing#Assist was an awkward one#the concept is so clear and simple and cool: it lets your monsters team up to attack together!#but mtg's Banding shows how that simple concept can be very difficult to translate into clean rules#even its spiritual successor Enlist had to specify “nonattacking creature without summoning sickness”#which i think is one of the only times that the term “summoning sickness” has appeared on modern cards#yeah i just checked and the only other cards that mention summoning sickness are stuff that involve creature-lands#i went back and forth on how exactly to word it before i decided to go the shortest and cleanest route of “spend this monster's attack”#which is also the most confusing wording if anything remotely unusual happens#heck it's not even clear whether it works while in defense position!#the idea is the same as Enlist: you can only use it if the monster COULD attack#so anything that prevents it from attacking also prevents it from assisting#but honestly if i were in charge i wouldn't even print this keyword because its wording is either too long or too confusing#also the Wrath effect appears on a few existing cards like Flame Wingman and i like it#Piercing also already exists in a kind of pseudo-keyword state#“if this monster attacks a defense position monster inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent”

You know, I've held for a long time the belief that canon!Denise eventually surpasses Sylvia and is just a notch above her in terms of battle prowess despite being younger. But the more I think about it the more I realize Paldea!Denise blows Sylvia out of the WATER with how strong she is to the point it's not even a contest
#mel's musings#forest for the tree#little songbird#first of all. dena started 3 years younger in this au. she got her sprigatito at 15 whilst syl got oshawott at 18#she's got FIVE rivals as opposed to syl's three. one of whom has a reputation for being a battle maniac#(honestly. nemona alone does wonders for dena's growth as a trainer but I'VE STILL GOT MORE)#dena literally has battle studies on her academic record and has studied at two different schools for it#she's fluent in both singles and doubles strategies and beaten elite and champion ranked trainers in both playstyles#plus she's got 4 legendaries AND access to terastallization. syl would get WASHED#to be fair to her though. she certainly would not go down without a fight#she's got 2 legendaries herself plus a mega gardevoir she can communicate telepathically with#and she's significantly more adaptable than dena when her strategies don't go as planned. whereas dena tends to get boxed in her mind a bit#meaning if she manages to catch her off guard it's even possible she could pull a win from her in some circumstances#but after she spent so long wearing herself into the dirt gaining the strength she needed to beat team plasma#and trying her best to live up to everyone's expectations for her as the hero of truth (to say NOTHING of her expectations for herself)?#she's just not the grinding type anymore. she's simply content to live out her life with her beloved pokemon#and if she gets stronger as a side effect of that then cool! but it's not her main focus and she wants to keep it that way#paldea!denise was never forced into getting stronger the way syl was. and she's less beholden to others' expectations in general#and having that agency means her natural inclination to gain knowledge and grow isn't stunted by feeling like it's her only option#so she doesn't have the same reservations about striving for strength as her cousin. but that's not to say she's inherently better for it#point is. both girls had different circumstances behind how they got to where they are and the struggles they faced along the way#but regardless of that they're both content with where they ended up. they're living their best lives and that's what matters#sobs. they're so everything ;_;

even after the everton game, klopp was like “yeah idk we were very lucky konate didn’t get sent off” like other managers would never admit that but klopp mostly speaks sense, idk why he gets clowned by literally everyone when he speaks a lot of sense
i think he only generally gets clowned in a genuine way by rival fans who just don't like him bcus he manages liverpool, i've only seen other liverpoolies clown on him affectionately bcus he says the most random shit sometimes and we love him for it. but i do think he speaks a lot of sense too, but also every manager inevitably contradicts themselves at some point so idg why ppl are acting like they've caught arteta out when every manager has said or done something similar
#im not a fan of his but ppl are acting like its outrageous that he felt one way and now feels another way bcus its about his club like.#football managers are the most hypocritical ppl ever lol a lot of the time things only matter to them when it effects their team#but on the bright side i did get a really funny reaction image out of all of this lmk if u want to see it#anon#ask

whatever maybe im being too hard on him specifically maybe the other execs in that article are right that he's just an easy target because he's the one passing on changes from all of them. but even so what kind of insane defense is that. "no this one guy isnt bad at his job! the employees are just mad at him because hes the point of contact for the rest of us, who are all bad at *our* jobs!"
#god remember when i said it felt like they werent really in control of the chaos in this movie? turns out they actually fucking werent.#maybe because the producers and directors couldnt decide on what to do and had animation staff with no guidance for SIX MONTHS?#and then had to crunch them for a year to make up for it!!! yeah you guys are right this is an unavoidable part of moviemaking (/S)#there was simply no way you could have possibly. had a handle on what you were doing and had the employees work consistently#on a normal schedule instead of giving them nothing to go on until the last minute.#between movie animating and video games like. these industries are making me lose my fucking mind.#its all so needless its just blatant failures of people in management#who make their employees suffer to make up for the exec's incompetence#just for those execs to be the ones who get all the royalties and acclaim. for work that was good largely in spite of them.#avpost#once again reminded of how the movie that won best editing this year was run by writer/directors who were actively on the sfx team#and therefore. actually worked with the editors and had a plan and gave the effects team what they needed.#but yeah no you guys at sony are right your way is clearly the only option theres just simply no other alternative im sure.#its clearly too much to expect of you guys. to manage projects like this. when its literally your job to manage projects.
