Though both are single dads, the ways by which Castiel Novak and Dean Winchester ended up there couldn't be more different: Castiel came to Sioux Falls for a fresh start when his best friend died and his godson, Jack, became his adoptive son. Dean moved to be closer to family when a one night stand turned into a surprise toddler on his doorstep. When a certain strawberry blonde spitfire stands up for Jack against the school bully, they quickly become friends. Castiel and Dean are soon in each other's orbits, only drawing closer when Dean begins doing some renovation of Castiel's home. Meanwhile, the mother of the young bully, Naomi Adler, having failed to weasel her son out of his due consequences, wages a 'holy quest' against Castiel. One she doesn't bother keeping secret. As they spend more and more time around one another, neither man can deny their attraction, but Castiel especially must decide if there is enough room in his life and heart for grief, for love of a child, and for a love of an altogether different kind.

I truly think that as a fandom, we’ve underutilized Emma as Dean’s daughter in fic. Because of that, anytime I see a story that serves that up, I have to click. In this fic, Emma is truly as described, a little spitfire, a true Winchester not only in attitude, but in heart and character. The story starts with Dean needing to bail her out of the principals office, if that’s any indication. She’s there because she stood up for Jack, so Dean can’t be all that mad given the circumstance. 

So of course, he takes her for ice cream. 

Which is the first place Jack’s new devastatingly handsome guardian lays eyes on him. 

This fic has a split POV, so we get to see their first impressions of each other, along with a great look at the way they both see each other for the first time for real, when they plan a playdate for their kids. 

Everyone in this fic is really well written, even a softer version of Dean, who is sweet and charming and a great friend and support to Cas as he begins to incorporate into their town. This story is cute, with a nice good vs evil plotline that has you cheering for Cas as he takes on the wicked Adler family. The payoff is sweet and I think this is one fic that you shouldn’t skip if you’re a fan of dadstiel.

Bsd x poppy playtime.

Playtime Co's on site orphanage is the orphanage Atsushi grew up in.

Atsushi was bullied by the kids, hated by the adults but the toys adored him.

Mommy Long Legs would ruffle his hair when he did a good job and swing him from game to game. Huggy Wuggy always gave Atsushi a big hug when he was scared or upset.

The toys were the only ones who cared about Atsushi. The whole world had abandoned him but they had not.

Dogday tried to bandage his wounds but his hands couldn't tie the bandage. While Mommy Long Legs yelled at the staff for letting him get hurt.

Atsushi tried to tell her not to bother, he knew they hurt her too. But she wouldn't hear any of it.

The Headmaster taught at the school.

He had adopted Atsushi, as part of Playtime Co's adopting initiative. And yet he didn't like Atsushi at all. Whenever he could, Atsushi tried to avoid him but he couldn't.

He was the proof to the rest of the staff that this whole operation was a success.

It was a lie.

But Atsushi had to act the part or he'd be punished.

Miss Stella always watched him closely when they were at the games station. Atsushi noticed that kids that left with her disappeared.

They were adopted. Or at least that's what they were told.

It was a lie.

It was all a lie.

Atsushi didn't know until Miss Stella took him aside one day. He doesn't remember what happened that day.... Or the next... Or the next...

The pain made it all blurr together. Atsushi does remember Dogday, the sad smile on his face and how he'd hold his hand before they'd take him away.

He knew about his ability, because the scientists loved and hated it. The red smoke wouldn't tire him out but make him see things no one else could.

Atsushi was the only child who ever got to see Catnaps true form. He wasn't sure if that was good or not, but at least he left Atsushi alone.

They couldn't get Atsushi into a toy.

His ability healed him before they could. So they used him a lab rat instead. Use him to test things out before trying it on other kids.

Atsushi almost died several times in the process. But as always he survived.

Even when he wished he didn't.

The hour of joy will haunt Atsushi for the rest of his life.

Thanks to the tigers hearing, Atsushi heard everything. Every scream, every cry, every laugh.

He felt sick.

It was a nightmare that went on and on and on. He hid with the corpses and was lucky none of the toys inspected the pile.

The alarms were blaring.

Speakers yelling instructions but none of it mattered. The anger was practically tangible.

Atsushi only crawled out when Dogday saw him, arms up showing he wasn't going to harm him. Atsushi sobbed into his arms and his friend held him close.

There wasn't any food left.

Atsushi didn't complain when Dogday handed him the remains. They both ate in silence, pretending it was something else and not those they knew.

No one else was left.

The toys were never the same again.

Mommy Long Legs would never smile at him. Huggy Wuggy would never give him a warm hug.

They were something else now.

It hurt to see. But Atsushi supposed the Headmaster was right, everyone turned on him eventually.

And yet Dogday never did. Atsushi didn't ask about the smiling critters, he already knew it wasn't good.

The day Atsushi escaped was the day Catnap found them. Dogday picked up Atsushi and ran like he'd never ran before.

Dogday placed Atsushi on the cable car out of Playcare and told him to run and never look back. The door slammed shut behind him before Atsushi could figure out what was going on.

Somehow he escaped to the surface. He walked and he walked as the tiger guided him. Until he saw a man in the river.

Which brings him to now.

Sat with everyone else in the Agency in the Presidents office. A cup of tea Naomi put infront of him that he hasn't touched.

"Atsushi, you said you had a place you wanted us to investigate?" Asks Dazai, sitting at his right with an encouraging smile on his face.

He could tell Atsushi was nervous, everyone could.

"I mean we don't have too. I just... I just got a letter 2 days ago on my desk. And it's from the place I grew up." That got everyone's attention.

They all had heard bits and pieces of Atsushi's past. None of it was particularly comforting. And they couldn't pretend that they weren't curious.

"From the Orphanage?" Asks Dazai, wanting to be sure. "Yes and no, see it wasn't just an orphanage." Says Atsushi, he looks down. "I... I haven't been completely honest with you guys."

Dazai ruffles his hair.

"We're not mad, we've all got skeletons in our closet. Can we see the letter?" Atsushi nods, taking it out of his pocket and handing it to Ranpo.

Since he was making grabby hands at him. And wasn't that something, Ranpo was interested in this case.

Dazai pouts and bounces over to look over Ranpo's shoulder.

Both of them frown at the sight of it. Dazai looks at Atsushi who nods, letting him read it out loud.

"Everyone thinks the factory's empty. That all the staff have dissappeared. We're still here, little tiger. Find the flower."

It was written in red and orange crayon with a poppy flower drawn on. If it wasn't suspicious already the doodle of a bleeding pawprint definitely didn't help.

Atsushi tries not to think about what that meant.

"It shouldn't be possible... There's no one left, no one who could've written it at least." He says, he doesn't notice he's shaking until Kyouka holds her hand.

"I'm just glad you didn't decide pull a Dazai and run off on your own without telling anyone." Says Kunikida, Dazai gasps in mock offence holding a hand to his chest. "Kunikida! You wound me!"

Atsushi ducks his head sheepishly. "I mean he's not wrong, Dazai." Dazai sighs, dramatically wiping a nonexistent tear. Before lighting up and smiling "yeah I'm glad you told us because this feels like a trap."

Atsushi nods.

"It does which is why I don't think we should go. I know what's behind those doors. I know what they're capable of, what they'll do."

He takes a deep breath "but if there's anyone left and they're asking for my help, I can't just leave them again."

Atsushi thinks of Kissy waving him when no one else was looking. Poppy telling him stories and Dogday holding him when the red smoke made him cry.

"Not again. It... It makes you think you're going insane. Like every part of you is burning and you don't know why. You're not supposed to leave. If anyone's left, they won't be the same."

He definitely wasn't.

He doesn't notice he's crying until Kyouka pulls him into a hug. "It's not your fault" she says, firmly.

He shakes his head.

"It's not your fault. Your friends won't blame you." Says Ranpo, somehow always knowing more. Atsushi looks at him, wiping his tears.

"I for one am glad you got out. And I'm sure they are too. You know what this place is capable of, but you also know what we're capable off." Says Ranpo, putting the letter down.

"I can't promise things won't go wrong. I can't tell you what will happen behind those doors. But if you want to go investigate, you have the entire Agency standing behind you."

Atsushi knows without even looking at them that everyone is in agreement.

He feels lighter.

"Than I will go. But I should probably explain all of this." Says Atsushi, untangling himself from Kyouka's arms but holding her hand.

"This is going to sound crazy."

Dazai laughs "oh Atsushi, don't you know? Crazy is our middle name." Atsushi snorts, smiling sadly.

"This might be crazy even for us." He takes a deep breath. "It all began with a man named Elliot Ludwig."

AITA for being engaged to my former best friend's ex-girlfriend after he cheated on her with the girl who bullied me and was my fiance's best friend?

I(29M) am engaged to the most amazing woman ever (27F) for 7 months now. We will call her Naomi.

You see she used to be my ex long time f best friend's girlfriend (We will call him Marcus) They seem to be a happy couple when they were together and I used to think they made a great couple back then too. There was one problem though, Naomi was best friends with this girl (we call Zoe). Zoe made my life back in our school days a living hell. She didn't like me because I was a redhead and took every opportunity to hurt me or scar me, even put gum and glue in my hair, thankfully my cousin was a hair stylist and got it all off. Once I went off to college I didn't have to worry about her until Marcus started dating Naomi. She still mocks me, but was very subtle about it.

Marcus knew what Zoe did to me throughout our school days and has stood up for me time and time again. Back then, I thought he understood and was my big supporter and a brother I never had (I have 6 sisters) I was hoping him and Naomi would get married and I'd be the best man at their wedding. Naomi was nothing like Zoe, she's a total sweetheart, a literal angel and pretty intelligent. She and Zoe we're best friends since College.

But then on my birthday, I discovered that he was sleeping with Zoe when I went to visit him to go out for drinks. It was like I was in a twilight zone or a horror movie or something, seeing someone who I thought was my best friend on the couch getting it on with the one person who traumatized me and made my life hell. I got angry and yelled at him, demanding to know how can he do this. Marcus try to explain himself and beg me not to tell Naomi, but I was having none of it and left. I don't know why, but I started to cry.

I called Naomi and asked her to come over to my place. Once you saw me, she knew something was wrong because she saw them my eyes were red and I was agitated. She wished me a happy birthday, to which I reply "I wish it a happy one..." when she asked what I meant by that, I told her about Marcus and Zoe. She thought I was lying, but realize that I was telling the truth after she put two and two together why my eyes were red and I was agitated. She started crying and was heartbroken. Marcus was her first boyfriend and he cheated on her with someone she thought was her best friend. We both cried together the betrayals. Since then I have cut Marcus out of my life and Naomi cutting Zoe out of hers.

When the pandemic first hit Naomi didn't have nowhere to go because her lease what's up and she couldn't return home ( She was from Washington) and I offer her a place to stay. To be honest, we were getting along as being roommates. We took turns cooking and did our equal share of chores and pay bills. We even found out we have a lot of things in common and randomly, we just ended up falling in love with each other. I even introduced her to my family, close friends and some co-workers I am close with. On New Years of 2023 I proposed to her and she said yes.

Well, here we are in the present, I found out that Zoe tried to contact Naomi while she was out to lunch with my sister and tried to get her the break up with me so they can be friends again, saying things like I wasn't good for her and that she will help her find a new guy for Naomi. For what my sister told me, Naomi told her " Why? So you can sleep with that guy too? Sorry but I refuse to become friends again with a backstabbing sl*t" And hung up the phone. Now you can see why I love this woman.

Yesterday, I got a phone call from an unknown number. Turns out to be my ex best friend Marcus. Word had gotten around that me and Naomi are engaged and Marcus was furious, asking 'How could I get together with his ex and why would I betray him like that?'

I reply with "Excuse me, who do you think was the one that betrayed me and Naomi? You betrayed Naomi by getting with her best friend and you betrayed me because you knew what she put me through and you knew how she treated me. You are in no place to get angry with me when you were the one that betrayed the both of us first. Second, me and Naomi haven't contacted you in 4 years, how did you get my new number?"

He told me that it didn't matter and said that he thought the two of us have gotten over that already and that he was trying to get back together with Naomi. That's when I said " the only reason you're trying to get back together with Naomi is because Zoe dumped you after she caught you cheating on her with her boss, right? I heard about it from your brother. I guess Zoe wasn't enough for you that you had to sleep with her boss? And that her boss wants nothing to do with you because it was only just s*x for her? Who's to say that you're not going to cheat on Naomi again? It's your fault for letting such an amazing girl go in the first place. You never appreciate what she done for you, don't ever contact me or Naomi again! In fact, don't even come near us, you are dead to us!"

I couldn't help but feel guilty about what I said. I know I shouldn't but I do. Naomi said not to worry about it and smiled at me since we are getting married next month. But, AITA?

Hey there! Man, hearing about that situation is maddening, but jerks are gonna be jerks and I suppose all we can hope for is them getting banned & fined.

Aside from that, I was wondering if you've got any insight into why (in that statement from Naomi Boak) it's noted that some folks would be calling for less support for the Conservancy with this news? I'm just a bit confused; personally, if I had the cash, I'd want to donate more hearing how there's bears getting bullied!

before i start the longer answer to this i want to note that it was only one or maybe two commenters, and they got a lot of pushback from the community on their comments calling for boycotts, because many people (myself included) think that such calls for boycott are misguided at best.

Anyways. My understanding is that there is a minority of people who believe that more human attention from Fat Bear Week, which is run by the Katmai Conservancy, is the cause of this harassment. Personally, i don't really think that is true (katmai national park was the 6th least visited national park in 2023, for starters) but even if it somehow was true, the solution would be to give Katmai Conservancy and Katmai National Park more resources, not less -- because they currently need more rangers and more staff at the park, and they cannot currently afford it. Boycotting Katmai Conservancy because a couple of people were assholes is like cutting funding from schools with bad standardized test scores -- it achieves exactly the opposite of the stated intentions.

Also, i saw at least one person imply that Katmai Conservancy/Katmai National Park was ignoring the incident, which is obviously not true. Katmai staff and Park Rangers put in a lot of effort to make sure people behave respectfully around the bears, and as Naomi said, this incident happened after most rangers had stopped their duties for the day -- sure, they didn't have an official statement out instantly, but i think its unreasonable for anyone to have expected them to. Also, like, there will always be people who act irresponsibly and/or dangerously. There is only so much that can be done to prevent these things, and Katmai is already doing everything they can with the resources they have.

At the end of the day, i don't see how withholding money helps anyone, especially not the bears that these people claim to want to protect so much. Katmai National Park and Preserve is a very important place to protect, and supporting the Katmai Conservancy is the main vehicle we have for actually continuing to protect it.

[Black Iron Submarine mini-review, spoilers]

I finally saw Black Iron Submarine (on a Saudia flight as an in-flight movie—the subtitles were interesting because they used the Arabic dub names (some characters got atypical pronunciations like Shinichi got rendered Sinichi, pronounced more like Senshi in the Arabic dub, Kogorou is Tougo and Sonoko is Souko/Soko???) and a sort of masking of the Organization's codenames, translating them in odd ways to make the alcohol origins a little unclearer, I guess, but otherwise, solid subs. The advisory warning at the start amused me, but reasonable, given the blood and violence (that bullet ripping through that woman's head. -shudders-)

It was an exciting and fun film, absolutely adored the Haibara Ai/Miyano Shiho focus, Gin looks great in the anime again (I'm curious as to who decided many of his scenes should have flowing hair bathed in golden light, it's gorgeous, but MAN... so glad he looks good in the anime again), Naomi Argento being grateful Shiho took the attention off her as a new subject of bullying, but being too scared to stand up for her, so Shiho's alone in all her school security camera pictures in the States... is so, so, so sad, but so believable. A lot of people are too scared to speak up against what's wrong, fearing they'll be targeted, so quietly look the other way.

Gotta love Vodka being a classic movie mobster surrounded by more hardened criminals, complaining about another organization member trying to climb up the ranks, even if he does so by hurting others... I also love how he's totally down to believe Sherry shrunk into a kid somehow and calling up the very skeptical Gin about it, fff. But the movie also still remembers Vodka is no stranger to cruel threats and punishments...

Naomi's family being threatened, her tears over her father, the way her pure-intentioned system meant to protect everyone regardless of age or race and locate missing persons was under pressure to be repurposed for sinister goals... it was such a triggering situation for both Hondou Hidemi (Kir) who remembered being forced to shoot her father to complete the mission herself and throw off suspicion of her being a spy like he was... and Sherry's sister being killed and her parents' drug which she had to continue developing being repurposed as a method of murder by poisoning...

Real-world technology has advanced so much that the aging up we saw in an earlier movie now can be pulled off by AI. Artificial intelligence was actually very realistically portrayed in this movie, because aging up photographs of kids and getting a disturbingly close representation of what they might look like as adults based on data about bone structure and patterns it learned is spot-on and a real world concern?!

Absolutely loved Vermouth doing her best to help her Silver Bullet protect that girl.

I felt really bad for Conan when a man caught a falling Ran and Conan briefly lifted his arms and smiled ruefully... he knows he couldn't have caught her himself in this form, it's sad...

Lots of Conan and Haibara scenes to shiptease the AiCon fans too.

Nice throwback in Sherry's nightmare to her Street Corner of Betrayal Gin nightmare. "I've been dying to see you, Sherry..." they sadly did not interact much directly, but it's also understandable, given how much of their past relationship is shrouded in mystery. The writers likely don't want to contradict or misinterpret... it's still too tricky to get right.

False positives and AI's potential for error being signifcantly plot relevant was so clever and great.

Love the post-credit scenes tying it all together!

Haibara was so sweet, giving up her Fusae brooch, when we know how much she loves her brands. ;3;

I didn't figure out the culprit at all, but I smelled red herring all over the racist German dude Leonhardt. He was just too easy to hate, but lacked a real motivation for crime, he's just made to be easy to hate and easy to blame.

I am SO glad this movie did not decide to kill such a lovely original character as Naomi because Sherry deserves more friends, especially ones around her real age. ;__;

Naomi. One of her favorite things to do is make sweets. She especially bakes when she’s stressed.

Pride

This one’s Aria. How can it not be when she grew up in a position of power and her magic is stronger than most? She even skips class all the time because she thinks the powers she was born with is all she needs. She looks down on humans and men and lets them know it. She even looks down on other witches, mostly Spiritwalkers for their fondness of rules.

Lust

Oh my gosh, character I’ve never talked about! Alex is the epitome of lust. He was created to chase after Aria and is only more enticed by her rejections. But of course she hates him because he’s human and a man.

Envy

Kelsee’s family have been envious of the Hemlocks for generations and wanted to be more powerful than them, but Kelsee takes it to a whole new level. When years of bullying Catalina doesn’t work, she creates a a poison to weaken her magic.

Wrath

Wrath is Maya. She would do anything for Daron, and even calls herself Daron’s weapon. She has no remorse about going against her clan’s sole purpose in life and destroying a spirit.

Greed

This is Iris, but you can’t really blame her. The other clans left hers with nothing, not even their land. She goes behind their backs and trades with some humans and sinks the ships of others for their goods.

Sloth

I guess I have to say Irene for this one. None of my characters are really lazy, but she physically cannot go anywhere.

Spartan Relationship Headcanons [Naomi-010] [Part II]

Part I

I know for a fact that Phillips and you bond over the truth that Naomi is a beautiful goddess, after that he’s your bestie. Naomi is just happy you found a friend and doesn’t understand how it happened.

At the end of the day, Naomi has to stop you from bullying the ODSTs with BB, she doesn’t know why but you hit it off with BB right away and she’s worried about it, especially when she has to put BB in her armor because the AI calls her out.

“Well, well, [Y/n], it appears darling Naomi doesn’t appreciate our dynamic duo, how rude.”

In my head, for some reason, Naomi is fascinated by physical touch and this only started when she began dating her partner. It’s the little things she loves about it, you resting your arm in the crook of her elbow, intertwining your pinkie with hers, comparing your hand sizes against one another and she likes resting her head on your stomach or lap.

She’s also a sucker for getting her hair played with, it's such a simple form of affection that means the world to her. Naomi grows her hair out a little longer so you can style it, the current go-to is braids or a ponytail because they fit nicely in her helmet.

She actually gets flustered when you call her any form of Valkyrie but loves it when you call her, ‘your Valkyrie’. She didn’t really care for the nickname until you gave it a personal spin and a smile always tugs at the corner of her lips when you walk into a room, spot her, and say, "Well, well, if it isn't my Valkyrie."

If Mal hadn't witnessed this happen, he would’ve never believed Spartans could get flustered, cause Naomi had the faint pink on her cheeks and her mood visibly brightened. This man seriously stopped drinking his coffee and stared at you with his mouth hung open. 

BB is the snitch that tells the whole ship you two are in a relationship and he didn’t have to do you guys dirty the way he did.

Naomi is slightly upset about it and almost beefs with BB, her relationship has always been her own and yours. It’s the one choice she made herself and it’s sacred to her, especially if this happens early on before she’s had time to bond with everyone, Naomi feels so awkward and is even more upset for you. She’s seen Marines and ODSTs butting into their teams relationships and she doesn’t want that.

Before BB outed the relationship, Naomi likes to poke fun at the time you first heard Mal call her sweetheart and you had to do a double take like you hadn’t heard that right then gave Naomi a look that meant you could possibly throw hands. She had to talk you down before you did anything dumb. 

Naomi still ended up asking Vaz to read over her file, only because she thought you might view her in different light if you found out more than she had already explained to you. When Serin first told her about the Halsey journal, Naomi felt devastated and a sense of loss, she hid away in the Mjolnir compartment and you found her tinkering away at her armor, she didn’t even look in your direction, which was a sign something was wrong.

You sit silently with her until she’s ready to talk or it stops bothering her, which in this case she wants to discuss once she’s gathered her thoughts together and can properly explain to you what Serin told her. Naomi wants your opinion but it will be hard for her to accept if you talk bad about Halsey, so even if you have negative feelings about the Doctor, you need to understand her side and not let it get the best of you. This does start some fights between you, Vaz, and Mal. They don’t understand why you can be so calm about this whole Halsey thing and you think they are acting like children that need to keep their noses out of things.

Being lowkey upset with Serin for starting this whole spiral of a mess and some unkind truth are said on your part. Naomi had to step in before you crossed a line she knew you were running for. The captain and you did make up a few days later much to everyone’s surprise, Naomi assumed you were going to be salty for longer.

Mal thought Spartans were already terrifying on the field but nothing prepared him for Naomi’s reaction to when you got hurt during a mission. If what he saw was the equivalent of a Spartan losing their shit, he wonders why the Covenant never called them Devils. Serin had to order him and Vaz to bring you back to the ship and leave Naomi to calm down on the lines of them getting caught in the crossfire [if that’s what the captain could call ‘crossfire’ was Mal’s thought], the only thing he could tell Phillips was ‘there is a lot of blood.’

This point is further driven home when Naomi returns covered in a mix of fluids on her armor and chunks of stuff that Phillips doesn’t want to speculate on. He’s left in awe when the first thing she does is check on her partner and the tone of worry in her voice not matching up with the activities left on her.

Naomi is a huge nerd, she loves talking to her partner about her armor and all the upgrades she’s making or thinking about making. Ask her questions about what she’s doing cause it makes her so happy, if you manage to name certain parts or follow her train of thought, she’s in love all over again and you can tell when her eyes are seriously bright, they look like they have stars in them.

Talking about stars, one of your first dates was star gazing, and it continues to be so on anniversaries and other special occasions. Naomi is an astronomy nerd, so this is a perfect way to spend time together especially if you pack a picnic and spend hours outside with her. If you bring up the idea of getting matching star tattoos, she’s sold and she wants to do it right away.

When Kilo-Five finds out Naomi has a tattoo, they are surprised, especially Serin, she never would have imagined a Spartan getting inked.

If you aren’t on the ship, they are extra shook when she tells them it’s a matching constellation with her partner. The whole ship gets quiet and it takes them a few minutes to respond, Serin wants BB to give her a full report on this individual.

Naomi finds this amusing and calls you that night, if you aren’t on a mission or busy, to tell you. This is also how BB tracks you down to pull your records, he honestly listens to the entire conversation because he’s a snoop and marvelous at the tone of Naomi’s voice when she talks to you. It’s more soft and there is a hint of emotion in her tone that he can’t distinguish.

He ends up telling Serin that Naomi was quite taken with you.

Part 1

Naomi knew from a young age that she was adopted. Nobara and Maki had made sure that she was aware of that fact, and that it wasn’t a big deal. Sure, there had been moments when she wished she didn’t have to deal with her adoptive mothers. She had quite the rebellious phase, screaming that she wanted to go back with her “real” parents, while crying about being abandoned because she was worthless and unloved.

Maki couldn’t tell her about her parents; she didn’t know who they were. She simply found a crying baby in the middle of freshly slain bodies, with nothing but a gold name tag bracelet around her wrist and a stuffed rabbit in her crib.

But as Naomi grew older and reached the age of eight, Maki couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling she’d get when Naomi would look at her through her eyelashes, yellow upturned almond-shaped eyes taunting her memories.

And that shit-eating grin — god, she hated to feel this way about her daughter — but really, even the inflexions of her little voice screamed she was /his/ child.

Wondering who the other parent could be wasn’t even on Maki’s mind; Naomi had taken after /him/ in every way.

Except she wasn’t mean, or cruel, or devoid of empathy. She had an attitude, but she used it to uplift others. She used her strength to protect those who needed it — as much as grade-schoolers could need it. She was the one who broke fights and made sure the bullies would never forget about the beating she’d give them.

Now, the more Maki looked at Naomi, the more she saw Nobara in her. Yellow eyes would still catch her off-guard every once in a while, but a wide, toothy grin would always follow.

Naomi wasn’t moved by the need to find her biological parents, but Maki eventually told her who she thought one of them was, that they didn’t have the best relationship, and that he was long dead. The mystery didn’t eat at Naomi, or if it did, she didn’t let it show. Soon she was entering Jujutsu Tech, and all her thoughts were focused on training to become stronger and perfect her technique.

Of course, she had inherited superhuman speed.

She met Kenshiro Nanami during her second year; he was her underclassman. They immediately clicked and began dating.

She had just turned twenty when she ended up in some bar she’d gone to a few times with her boyfriend. Kenshiro was hanging out with his former sorcery school classmates, enjoying some drunken conversation and pretending to be a part of the regular, unknowing human society. Naomi strayed away from them for a while to escape the noise and get another drink. As she walked up to the counter, a man almost fell off his bar stool, crashing against Naomi and spilling some of his beer on her.

He apologized profusely, getting lost in his rambling until his hazy eyes met Naomi’s face.

The middle-aged man with short graying hair that was longer on top and a thin mustache almost lost among a sloppily-shaven stubble stared hard. Naomi was ready to snap that she wasn’t single nor interested, but those reddened and teary eyes weren’t looking at her with lust or some dirty intentions.

“Are you a ghost?” He asked, and she laughed.

He apologized again, but Naomi cut him off.

“Why are you saying that?”

The drunk man then proceeded to tell her about his partner who had eyes just like Naomi’s and their baby he never got to meet. How he���d been told they had died in childbirth twenty years ago. How he never got to see their bodies. How he tried to kill himself. How he had since lived in the apartment provided by his “father-in-law”, because it was free, and rent in Tokyo was crazy, and he spent all his money on gambling and drinking himself to death. How he would never love again.

They kept talking for a while. Well, he talked and she asked questions and listened. It was like he’d been dying to tell his story to anyone.

Eventually, he referred to the Zenin clan, and Naomi’s heart sank.

“What was your partner’s name?” She asked, and got the answer she was anxiously expecting.

It took her a lot to control her shaking when she texted Kenshiro that she was tired and was going home. She helped the drunk man get to his feet and asked him where he lived.

When he realized she was leading him to a taxi, he slurred “You don’t have to. You don’t even know me.”

She was tempted to reveal everything to him, to tell him her name, but she knew this wasn’t the right time.

“You can’t even stand, are you gonna crawl back home?”

And he laughed.

After a couple of minutes in the taxi, and before he fell asleep, she asked for his number.

“Why?” He asked. “You said…”

“I thought we could be friends.”

It was only a half lie.

He stammered his number, getting it wrong several times, but eventually Naomi managed to send him a text he’d only notice the next morning when he woke up in his bed entirely dressed.

Miyagawa Akio

Haruto would alternate between calling him "Akio-chan" or "Aki-chan". Aki means autumn in Japanese, so Haruto would associate Akio with the season after a while as well.

As for Akio's personality... Well, let's just say he's not in Haruto's good books. Haruto, as laid back as he is, can be quite self-centered himself. So when you put him with a snappy narcissist, things aren't gonna turn out well. Haruto wouldn't be hostile towards Akio per say, he'd just speak to him very sarcastically most of the time.

Vote: [Confirmed] Guilty (He can't see anything good coming out of voting Akio innocent. And he doesn't think Akio's murder was justified either.)

Hanasaki Aimi

"Mimi-chan" for sure! Compared to Akio, Haruto is much nicer towards Aimi. She's cute and friendly (almost obsessively so), and Haruto likes her behavior as long as he isn't in a bad mood.

He thinks that Aimi can be too naïve, so he finds himself accidentally spoiling her and keeping her away from the more aggressive prisoners. She's not a little kid, but he unknowingly treats her like one sometimes. Still, she has murdered at least one person, so he can't help wondering if she has a dark side hidden in her somewhere.

Vote: [Likely] Innocent (Seems she was bullied and retaliated after a long period of repressing her feelings. Haruto thinks she won't murder again. Maybe.)

Ishizu Shun

Shun is very tall (taller than all of my prisoners damn). Paired with his odd personality, Haruto finds himself feeling uneasy around Shun, like the other might just decide to attack him at any moment. But that's just a random bad feeling that doesn't mean anything. Right?

And Haruto thought Ichiro's grip on reality was bad. Shun is even worse! He would find Shun's forgetfulness annoying and concerning in equal parts. Also, Shun's habit of saying things completely unrelated to the current topic of a conversation unnerves Haruto a lot. Is Shun doing it maliciously or something?

Chiba Naomi

Mommy? Haruto really likes Naomi's responsible and nurturing behavior. Compared to all the chaotic children and absolute messes of adults running around, he's relieved to be able to rely on Naomi sometimes. (Of course, he makes sure to keep sensitive information out of reach. Just in case.)

He finds Kei to be a very strange and at times dangerous man. If it weren't for his force field thingmabob, he wouldn't approach Kei at all. The man's strangely unromantic flirting is weird, and his violent mood swings just aren't helping. What a headache of a guy.

Judging by Kei's MV, there's no way he's getting voted innocent in any aspect. Not on Haruto's watch. And if Kei starts getting too violent with other prisoners, Haruto will just find a way to keep him restrained somehow, huh?

Haruto will do it purely out of spite, even if it seems Asahi wasn't intentionally involved in the death of that person in his MV. He wants this child HUMBLED.

Once I got this book in my hands and started reading it I swear, it was one of the best wild roller coaster experiences I've ever had. Still unsteady, blubbering without nails, baffled, and lightheaded, but yet smiling and thrilled!

FANTASTIC CHARACTERIZATION, FAST AND HEART THROBBING PACING, GREAT-SATISFYING ENDING, GREAT STORY TELLING, AND ATTENTION-TAKING PLOT!

While reading, I had too many questions rushing through my mind.

Who actually murdered Andie? Or is Andie truly dead? Did she earn her fate? For the reason that as soon as we find out more about her, we realize that she is a bully, drama queen, drug dealer, and blackmailer! I wanted to punch her for all of her wonderful traits(sarcasm if you couldn’t tell).

Who allocated Sal the blame? Or did Sal actually do it? He is a picture of a kind, modest, and heavenly man. We think he has been hiding something, though. His friends refused to serve as his alibis and changed their testimonies regarding his whereabouts and when he left from their location. Where hence was he when the murder happened?

Who was threatening Pippa with texts to prevent her digging?

Well, I read the book quickly, and my spider senses didnt work properly until the last few pages, I was unable to identify the murderer or murderers. always being five steps behind the author

It was moving, enjoyable, nail biter, mind bending, surprisingly exciting, satisfying read. I enjoyed every page, every clue, every thrilling moments of this book. I highly recommend it!

Aurelia Rookwood is the kind of witch who has always known her worth, an attribute that has gained her many admirers, but twice as many enemies. The only daughter of Sarika and Francis Rookwood, Aurelia was born of two affluent families who adored her dearly. Her mother Sarika had worked for the Indian Council of Magic as an Unspeakable and had been stationed in London where she had met her father, a high society wizard who was looking to be intellectually challenged. The two were silent but devoted followers of Gellert Grindelwald, sucked into his rhetoric that they pushed onto Aurelia and her older brother AUGUSTUS ROOKWOOD [sibling]. Living in solitude by the seaside in Cornwall, their family home perched on top of a cliff, Aurelia and her brother lived a charmed life of reading by the coast, outside of their very rigid lessons. Half-bloods due to their trace of veela blood on their father’s side, Aurelia and her brother learned from a very early age that life would be very diffiuclt and despite their wealth and beauty, they would not be afforded the same respect as others who associated with them. 

Their parents instead tried to ready their minds, insisting they learn all there was to know about British and Indian Wizarding politics, who was important throughout history and how to control the magic that raged away inside of them. As a result Aurelia considered herself to be more disciplined than the average child. Despite the bullying from fellow children and the snide comments from parents, Aurelia was proud of her heritage. She had something that wizards for generations had attempted to bottle and sell- she and her brother were so beautiful, that despite the matter of their blood, Aurelia knew they would never truly struggle and that was what she told herself. Her resillance was rewarded by her parents, proud of the young woman she was becoming, and aged eleven she was packed away to Hogwarts with three trunks full of made to measure dresses by Madam Malkin herself she had earned due to her intelligence, her wit and cunning. Sorted into Ravenclaw, Aurelia had assumed she’d be a better fit for Slytherin, but as the hat debated back and forth before finally placing her with her fellow eagles, she knew it had made the right choice. 

Aurelia disliked people who were stuck up, though she knew everyone with power in their society was incredibly invested in themselves. She needed to be in a house where she could feel at her most dominant and strong arming a bunch of nerds into doing what she wanted was pleasing to her. Unpacking her trunk, Aurelia proudly collected up all of ELIZABETH BRAITHWATE’s [rival] clothing and dumped them on the floor to allow Aurelia more space for her outfits. Extension charms in wardrobes did tend to create a crease. Then she threw DANAE ALTON [rival] off her own bed becuse it had better light and ended the evening telling KERVENS BORGIN [best friend/potential romantic liaison] to move out of her chair at dinner, sparking a friendship between the pair. Aurelia had always gotten along better with boys, possibly because of her beauty, maybe because of her manners, but Kervens really tried to fight her corner when it came to the group of friends they’d established. She knew ROSALIE FLINT [acquaintance], ADRASTEIA GREENGRASS [acquaintance], ANDROMEDA BLACK [acquaintance] and LUCINDA TALKALOT [acquaintance] merely tolorated her. Never asking her to come and get ready before parties, or out for a cigarette during the evening. 

At one point, it did bother her- after all she was only human. But her mother educated her on the ways of teenage girls much later in life, and by the time she had turned eighteen- Aurelia was truly ready to own the thing that made her different. What Aurelia had always wanted in life was power, but enjoyed sitting on the sidelines, taking joy in puppeteering those to do her bidding for her. Becoming friends weith Kervens, RABASTAN LESTRANGE [close friend/potential romantic laison], XERXES ZABINI [close friend], and dating CAIUS BURKE [close friend/former partner/potential romantic liaison/] really helped with these plans. Despite being a half-blood girl, not from a sacred Twenty-Eight family, Aurelia had established herself as the most popular girl in her year. Famous for taking your boyfriend and making you cry in the toilets, everyoned feared her or wanted her and that was how she liked it. Upon leaving school, Aurelia flirted her way into a job at WItch Weekly- though it really didn’t take a lot. One look at her face and she was booked for modelling, her face appearing on the covers of the magazine, walking runways for Madam Malkin and Twillfit and Tattlings.

The occasional trip over to Paris to model and speak with Enchantée for a contributing editor job, became her leverage WItch Weekly. Forcing them into giving her the same deal. As a contributing editor she decided who was on the cover, who was hot and who was not and whose wedding got photographed, it was power like no other and even those who hated her when she was on the way up, how had to kiss the ring or risk being on the way down. It also meant she made friends in incredibly high places including ANDRESSA PARKINSON [friend] and her boyfriend LUCIUS MALFOY [friend]. It was after seeing them go public to distract from a scandal that Aurelia saw the benefit in being in a power couple and what that could mean. Her brother had connections due to his work, but no heavy hitters. She needed a man on the inside and she’d already spotted him. Aurelia had noticed AJAX DAVIS [partner] staring at her for seven years at school, but now he had a purpose. His family owned Moribund’s, his sister ROSALINE DAVIS [acquaintance] was dating the minister’s son HARRISON BAGNOLD [acquaintance] and he had a very high paying job in The British and Irish Quidditch Leauge, which everyone knew had more to do with politics that anyone else cared to admit. 

Dating a Twenty-Eight in this climate was almost out of the question but in current society Ajax was the next best thing and she enjoyed luring him away from his pitiful girlfriend Adrasteia. Ajax would do anything to please her, even take a blind eye to her constant romantic laisons and flirtation which are on the up since she’s found her latest calling. Whispers of THE DARK LORD [leader] had long echoed the streets, but when her brother became a follower he confirmed to Aurelia they were real and their time was truly here. Confident she may now no longer have to ride on the coatails of Ajax to be respected, Aurelia will do anything to ensure that in The Dark Lord’s new society she will have a seat at the table. The taste for power is sweet and as she is relatively new to the movement, it has meant sucking up to her former friends from school who now have fairly influential positions. Back to her old flirtatious ways, Aurelia spends long nights at secret meetings, drinking with her school friends and setting her eyes on who could possibly advance her career, namely Rabastan, who, if judging by her eye seems to have the ear of their new leader.

When Ella was five years old she promised her mother that she would always remain kind no matter what. It was then her mother passed away leaving her and her father behind. The next year her father remarried, and she gained a stepmother and two stepsisters. All seemed well she treated her with kindness, but Ella always noticed that that kindness never reached her new mother’s eyes.

When Ella was 16 the nightmare began, her father died in a car accident and her stepmother began to abuse her. Making her sleep little hours and physically harm her. At one point she ended in the hospital with broken ribs after being pushed of the stairs. Life certainly wasn’t easy back then.

When Ella was 19 she met a man named Edmund she felt rather fond off and they fell in love. He was her first in everything, first love, first kiss, first time. And she loved everything about him. She still does. then he passed away in a war, and ella found out she is pregnant

Ella dated patrick for a short while, but eventually started dating Sally Finkelstein, she and her daughter Dandelion Fontaine get along well, however she is unaware that Edmund is still alive.
