looking into tonfas (aka i watched literally 2 videos so far, one a tutorial and one a quick style showcase) bc im forever tempted to draw ramos and ohhhhh it actually fits them so well.........the bluntness mixed with the deadly precision (rock/scissors fr fr!!) integrating different martial arts styles....ESPECIALLY bc with their structure, tonfas have 2 style 'types': the 'defensive' styles that keep the long section close to the arm, and the flashy motherfucker i mean 'offensive' styles created by spinning the tonfas out. im very new to them so the names are more the impression i get than their actual offense/defense capability but GOD are they cool. and you tend to draw ramos in the 'defensive' style, which makes sense! they dont feel very Strong, so they focus more on protecting themself than flashy offensive moves, and they keep their cards close to their chest. or under their bandana, as it were.

they always protected him, taking the worst of the wrath of that ancient god who'd kept both of them chained. sometimes they'd fall asleep for months on end just to recuperate from the awful injuries they would sustain. never once did they stop doing defending alatus, though, regardless of how much he had pleaded them to.

he appreciated their efforts in a way that couldn't possibly be described, but he didn't want to be alone.

"i'll always come back, dove, no matter how long i'm asleep for," they assured gently, lovingly, "so don't worry, okay? i'll always come back, alatus."

it was only a matter of time before they swore their loyalty to the lord of geo, signing a contract that would last as long as they lived.

being trapped in the depths of the chasm wasn't so unbearable for the first while. bosacius may have lost his mind, but still... they liked to think there was a little glimmer of recognition in his eyes whenever he saw them.

that mortal man trapped with them was awfully good company too, but they feared he would succumb to their's and bosacius' combined karmic debt.

eventually, three became two, and two became one.

they were sure that all that was keeping them sane was studying the odd space they were trapped in (that and the fact that they still retained some sway over the dendro element and therefore could craft cute little flower crowns to kill time). it was fascinating, really. it occupied their mind, distracting them from the darkening of their vision and the malicious whispering in their ears.

repeatedly, though, they almost lost their never-ending battle.

they eventually stopped counting the years that passed. their sense of time was terribly skewed, anyway, so they doubted they'd been counting accurately in the first place.

xiao found the collection of flower crowns littered around a particular spot very, very nostalgic and even comforting. his dendro-aligned sibling always enjoyed making such things for him and the other yaksha.

he dared not get his hopes up, though. anyone could've made the crowns.

it was by following the faint trail of dendro energy (which was largely drowned out by familiar karma) that he found them, barely alive.

yet...

despite being so out of it, when they saw xiao, they smiled so, so sweetly. they soothingly squeezed his hands—they were trying to soothe him, he quickly realized. he must've looked frantic if they were so quick to reassure him rather than reassure themselves that he was really there.

"i would say something witty like, 'i told you i'd always come back,'" they giggled, "but it's you who came back for me this time, isn't it, alatus?"

15. How do you write smut scenes? Do you get very visual or detailed? How important is it to be realistic?

so generally i put myself in the narrative and i remember/imagine what certain things feel and look like (even though im unfortunately not a gay man) i think i’ve mentioned this before but the way i write i just see the scene like a movie. i imagine every little feeling and detail and try to cram it into the prose as much as i possibly can, and that’s especially the case with smut scenes.

for me, realism is super important. when i was first starting out and was still a virgin i read a lot of smut and therefore would just emulate what i read. experience is def the best way to know how to write something, but given that i will never be a gay man sometimes u have to do a lot of research, ask a man what it’s like to have ur pp touched, and do ur best from there

despite that, though, there is such thing as too much detail for me. there are MANY smut authors in this fandom and all corners of the internet who will give you LOTS of detail. things like the sensation of pubic hair on the tongue and descriptions each and every little pussy fold jiggling is just too much for me. sex irl is goofy and ugly even if it is hot and sexy and fun, and i often exclude the ugly gross parts bc i feel that as a reader and writer, u aren’t reading smut to know what sex is like exactly, ur reading it for the intimate and sexy aspect of it all. plus, i don’t write porn for the sake of porn, i often write it to explore a particular relationship especially as it changes, and you can 100% see that each time i write terzomega fucking in Little Monster.

18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

usually after.

titling and naming things is the hardest thing for me fr. this is the girl who named her stuffed teddy bear “teddy”, her stuffed otter “otter”, her bunny/baby bunny duo “mrs bunny” and “baby,” her stuffed snake “snakey” ….. so on and so forth. i’ve never been creative with names. so what’s easiest for me is to write the whole thing out and take a certain image/idea/moment/name etc. that i want the reader to pay attention to and make that the name.

for instance, on a personal project, i named one chapter of the story “organ”. in the chapter, there is brief mention of an church organ with an unidentified musician playing it. this is one vague moment that isn’t brought up again, and it may have been missed had i not drawn attention to it with the title. the unidentified organist is a key character that appears throughout the story and is implied to have an overarching influence on the main character.

that’s just one example of how i name things. Little Monster is very similar, i want to draw extra special attention to the term ‘mostriciatto’ and the way terzo uses it throughout the story

just go read my post honestly. my best advice is genuinely to keep writing as often as you can.

the characters. god i love writing characters and crafting their mannerisms and especially DIALOGUE. muah 😭💕 i think that’s the biggest reason my fics tend to hit people emotionally— characters are extremely important to me to be written well

yeah. but the line is blurry.

really what i don’t like is lack of distinctive voice/personality. sometimes smut is just really boring bc there’s no subtle interaction or implication in the dynamic being written. the characters are just vaguely tied to their canon material and given no real motivation or personality. no background. nothing.

that shit bores me and is partly why i’m not a super avid reader of fanfic anymore. finding strong narratives is hard.

oh also; infantilization. i’ve written virgins and i’ve written naive partners. DO NOT TREAT THEM LIKE TEENAGERS WHO WERE HOMESCHOOLED CATHOLIC. fuck bro. i love a story with a character having a new, exciting experience for the first time, but they aren’t fucking babies that are clueless to their bodies. most ppl masturbate/know what sex is by the time they do it for the first time (ESPECIALLY in the age of the internet).

Day 5 - Balance

“How?” Fresh Cut Grass had asked one night. “How do you do it?”

Chetney paused in his work, keen eyes drifting from the half carved deer he’d been whittling his way through and over to the nervously rocking form of Fresh Cut Grass.

“Do what?” He gruffly asked, before thrusting his work in progress forward. You mean my master crafts work? Yeeeears of work, baby! And a certain talent that most feckless ametuers don’t possess!”

“Oh no! Not that!” Fresh Cut Grass shook their head, previously clasped hands now waving wildly between the two of them. “I meant… um, between the wolf and the man. How do you… balance that? How do ya make sure the beast doesn't take over entirely? That you don't lose yourself to the monster?”

The last past was whispered with such earnest vulnerability that it stopped Chetney’s retort right in its tracks. It was tempting to just give the same old sphill, to insist that he had nothing to fear, that Chetney fully loved the beast that lay within. That he never once feared losing control, losing… himself.

That it was easy and simple, entirely effortless really!

Yes, to say that would be easy.

Simple.

Effortless.

Calloused old hands carefully laid down his chisel and the half carved deer, before motioning for Fresh Cut Grass to get closer, to settle beside him. It took a moment, and a grouchy furrowing of his brow, but gradually the aeormaton moved, settling down beside the crotchety old gnome.

“Shit ain’t easy,” Chetney muttered, breaking what had been stretching into a minute long silence. “The beast hungers, desires. You let that fucker win and BAM, you’re fucked!”

There was a creaking of metal, and from the corner of his eye he watched as metallic fingers gathered up fistfuls of deep blue fabric, their grip like death upon their fancy, now heavily creased, jacket.

“I don't mean to be rude, Chet. But I- I know that. That's not what I…”

Fuck. How did the little bot manage to make him feel like such an ass. It was supposed to be his gods given right as a grumpy old fuck! Yet here it was, the guilt, slowly seeping its way into his tired old bones.

“You’re wanting answers I ain’t got, Letters. It's aaaaall instinct for me. Instinct and wishing like hell that shit won’t go to fuck! And shit will always go to fuck, ‘cause that’s life! You think you’ve got and then Lady Luck’s sinking her teeth into your ass and tearin’ into you!”

That didn't feel like enough though.

There was a cruelness to that answer. An admission to the harshness of this world that didn't leave much room for hope. And fuck if didn't know anyone else who ran on hope and positivity quite like Fresh Cut Grass.

So, with cheeks dusted a slowly growing red (so thankfully hidden by the night’s dark embrace), Chetney reached over, worming his way between coat and metal to take hold of his beloved's anxiously curling hand.

“...You know as well as I do that that shit’s mad hard, that the beast is always gonna be there, screaming and howling. And when that fucker tries to sink it’s teeth into you, to take more than you’ve said that bastard can have, then I’ll be right here to kick that tin can you call an ass to bash that fucker right back into his cage!”

Chetney grinned, wide and wild, and yet there was an unmistakable warmth to it.

A sweet nuzzling muzzle that encapsulated gnashing fangs. The same face that peppered cackling kisses and fuzzy, slobbering licks… was also capable of tearing through flesh, ripping through friend and foe alike, if the beast were ever allowed to slip free of its collar.

And it would always be that way.

A dangerous balancing act, of beast and man.

Of monsters and people.

Yet tonight, under the campfire’s flickering light, there wasn't a beast in sight. Instead they only stood two people, hand in hand as they turned to face one another, gilded metal seams meeting cracked, wrinkled lips.

“I… I think, maybe, that’s all the answer I need right now,” Fresh Cut Grass whispered, letting their head drop forward and delighting in how their foreheads met. In turn, Chetney rolled his eyes, feigning his annoyance at such mushy softness, and yet making not a single effort to move away.

“Thank ya kindly, dear…”

“Always a sapfest with ya! Shoulda been made from maple with the amount that you spout on the daily!”

“I love ya too, Chetney~”

He could only grin further at that, roughly nuzzling their faces together with a rough bark of a laugh. A declaration far more powerful than any word that Chetney could ever utter.

And tonight, that was more than enough.

I Am On A Journey to Watch AS MANY Films with Crispin Hellion Glover in Them As Possible

I will do my best to watch the films/shows and give a high-level view of my thoughts on each. 

I will continue to do this until I watch all of the films I have on my list (the list will be added to this post as well as updated throughout). 

I am playing catch-up compared to my other social media accounts but, to be honest, Tumblr is perfect for this kind of thing. 

So... Buckle up because this is going to be a LONG ride. (: 

First, I’d like to personally thank Crispin Glover for all the fantastic performances and artworks he’s created over the years. His approach to acting is beautifully unique, and every single one of his performances are memorable. Though I haven’t had the pleasure of viewing his own films, I’ve at least seen some of his artwork through the books he publishes. Now that I’ve found myself down a rabbit hole of sorts, not just watching these movies but also listening to all kinds of interviews and such, I am a huge admirer of the way he approaches what he does and creates. 

TL;DR: I’ve found boundless inspiration and joy from observing both his craft and his art. So, for that and for a lot more I’m struggling to put into words because they are genuinely such big emotions, thank you!

Why am I doing this? Because I want to!

To kick things off, and in the order in which I cover this journey on other social media platforms, a rewatch of one of my favorite slasher flicks was in order. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)! 

If you remember this movie at all, which you should because it is the 2nd best film in the franchise, you may recall the awkward kid who kept talking about being horny, obsessed over his friend calling him a "dead fuck," and danced real wacky in that one scene. Ya know, Jimmy “Jimbo” Mortimer. Yes! That one! That was Crispin Glover alright. 

Though the role is small, his performance in this is just exactly what I’ve come to expect from most, if not all, of Crispin’s performances: oh so memorable. 

I love this performance a lot. Even before I was aware of Crispin Glover, I was enamored with just how strange the character was and how that differed from a lot of the other performances in the Friday the 13th franchise. 

A bit of a fun fact: Crispin has talked about that dance he does and mentions that the song that was played on set during filming was not what ended up being used in the final product of that scene. Apparently, the song used for filming was AC/DC’s “Back in Black.” Cool folks on the internet have attempt to show that off so check this shit out:

As part of a double feature with Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, I watched Back to the Future (1985) for the first time. Yes, the first time. I know how shameful for a 28-year-old such as myself. 

I genuinely felt that the best descriptor for the film was "cute". It was cute! It’s one of those movies that I felt like I had really already seen due to how references to it have permeated our culture. 

I can understand why the film is a classic. The way Crispin plays George McFly makes him an incredibly endearing character. I loved the “George-isms” that Crispin created, that carry over from old George to young George. It’s excellent work.

I think Back to the Future is talked about too much, in all honesty, and especially with the whole lawsuit and incredibly harmful shit that happened to Crispin with Back to the Future II, a movie which I straight up refuse to see. 

But yeah, all that aside, Back to the Future was cute and a fun time.

Shout out to the free streaming service Tubi, which has been incredible kind to me and provided SO many of the films on my list. 

One of those films is Bartleby (2001). Bartleby is a surrealist, sit-com-style office comedy film adaptation of Herman Melville's short story "Bartleby, the Scrivener". Crispin plays Bartleby, and genuinely ends up having few lines except for, of course, “I would prefer not to” or some iteration of that. 

This film ended up being Supremely My Shit in terms of what I look for in a comedy. 

I LOVED this movie, so much so that I now own it on DVD and plan to show it to everyone. I cannot recommend it enough.

Next up, Wizard of Gore (2007). A splatter/noir horror film. This is a remake of the 1970 film of the same name. 

I will say that this film, overall, wasn’t that great. It has some highlights though! For instance, Crispin hams it up as a wacko magician who has an outrageously huge codpiece. And, oh hey! Brad Dourif and Jeffrey Combs are in it! 

As I’ve sat with this one, it’s one where I can say the performance that Crispin gives is the real draw here. He’s absolutely perfect for something so strange and unusual as this.

Now, I should back up and take some time to talk about Willard (2003). I have a lot of thoughts, as well as some fun facts. 

This remake of a 1971 film of the same name, which in turn was based off of the Stephen Gilbert novel Ratman’s Notebooks, is a standout so far for the films I've seen Crispin Glover in. I knew going into viewing it that it was well regarded in his filmography. I can understand why! It's incredible. 

It is a horror movie but not in the way that is typical. To me, the horror lies in the treatment of Willard, particularly in the workplace. And then, of course, later the horror continues but more in the form of self-inflicted acclimation of choices made by Willard (if only he were nicer to Ben! Oh, things would’ve been different). I do believe reading the rats as a force of nature as an element of horror is pretty accurate.

Though the part that make this film an instant comfort movie for me/a film that immediately went on my "get to know me movies list" is Crispin's performance and the framing of Willard's abuse in the workplace. I have some pretty bad workplace-related trauma from sustained abuse by past and previous employers. I have to admit to feeling some level of catharsis in relating to the Willard character, as well as viewing him as a kind of hero despite serious pitfalls and gruesome mistakes throughout, including a variety of self-inflicted repression of emotion and being (also I'd say the character is neurodivergent-coded, and thats highly relatable to me). I also think that [spoilers] when he kills his boss with a horde of rats--not for himself, entirely, but for Socrates--I felt that in my core like, yes, it's so much harder to stand up for yourself, even if you can't take more abuse, but it's easier when you have something rally behind or protect or avenge, in this situation. Am I thinking too hard about the contents of a 2003 horror movie? Probably. 

Anyway. The rats are awesome in this film too, as is the performance of R. Lee Ermey. I wish New Line Cinemas let the film be rated R. I feel like more gore and Ermey riffing off strings of cursing would've been nice. Apparently, there was an R-rated version but it is lost now. I've been able to view some of the deleted scenes and I can see where an R-rated version could have been. 

A great aspect of promotional materials for Willard was that Crispin Glover recorded a cover of Michael Jackson's "Ben" (yes, it's about the rat). It's my understanding the original song was recorded for the 1973 sequel to Willard, also titled Ben. Anyway, the music video for Glover's take on "Ben" was also directed by him. It's an absolute treat. Check it out: 

While I have you here, I'd like to let you know that the opening credits of Willard feature imagery from Glover's own published book -- Rat Catching. Rat Catching, published in 1988, is a heavily illustrated piece of visual and textural art built from the 1896 book Studies in the Art of Rat Catching.

Crispin has published other works similar to Rat Catching: Oak Mot (1989), Concrete Inspection (1990), What it is, and How it is Done (1992), and Round My House (2016). In each he rearranges text, blacks out certain standing passages (a la blackout poetry), and adds his own prose and occasionally images into the margins and elsewhere, thus creating an entirely new story. Plus, as is my understanding, a visual feast for the eyes. 

GUESS WHAT THE COOLEST PART ABOUT THESE BOOKS ARE?! You can get em directly from the guy himself! Literally. You can chuck $30-ish + shipping at him directly (metaphorically, of course) and you'll get a book.

On my TV back a few weeks ago was Twister (1989). 

From what I had previously read about the film, it billed as a comedy but in actuality it is more drama. It is an adaptation of the the novel Oh by Mary Robison. 

The film features music by Hans Zimmer, a cameo by William S. Burroughs, and, of course, a late 80s Crispin Glover doing his weird lil thing that I love oh so much. It was... bizarre!! 

I can’t really say if it is good or bad--it just is. I can’t even say if the ending is good or bad, it simply is what it is. Having sat with it for a while, I can appreciate Twister for eliciting emotion. I was pretty fed up with some of the character and confused at their motivations but at least it got me thinking about what was happening and asking the question “what are they doing and why?” That’s important in its own right.

Let me just say, I was VERY excited to watch We Have Always Lived in the Castle (2018). I am a huge fan of the original novel, which I read when I was much younger. I remember starting to watch this film when it came to Netflix in 2019 but failing to finish it due to life events (I think we were moving), but I can say now that I have finished watching it! 

I am happy to report that We Have Always Lived in the Castle is a fairly faithful adaptation of the novel, give or take, and was really enjoyable to see. I feel like it is a hard novel to adapt since Merricat is an unreliable narrator and it is all told from her perspective, but I think this film does a solid job illustrating that. 

I'm generally very pleased with the framing of the characters in the adaptation and the performances are great. I don't think anyone else could do Charles except for Sebastian Stan. He's so good at playing a total dick.

On that note, I don't think anyone else could've played Julian Blackwood like Crispin Glover. Comparing to the novel, I had no idea how to really imagine Julian in a lot of instances but seeing this character performed in this way makes SO much more sense to me. Incredible work.

I could probably go on, but I highly recommend checking it out for yourself, especially if you're a fan of the novel!

Ohhh Lucky Day (2019)! It was AWESOME. Though, I didn’t keep enough detailed thoughts about it so I apologize for a short and sweet overview of some highlights. 

I swear to god this film must've flown under the radar when it came out because I hadn't heard of it until recently (but I distinctly remember seeing showtimes for it back when it came out). 

It was a damn good time. Crispin plays a contract killer of sorts who has the most over-the-top French accent (despite not being French at all) and every scene he's in is golden. His serious demeanor for some of the more ridiculous scenes just works and brought a big stupid grin to my face.  

I’ve seen this film twice now it’s just a masterfully done action/comedy/drama--and yes, it really does blend the genres so well.

Before I take a break from letting this live in my drafts, I want to talk about a big one for me: Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, Episode 5: “Pickman's Model”. The one that started this journey. And I know, I'm so utterly late to the party! I live in my own lil horror-themed film bubble most of the time until I find some performances I enjoy and really gnaw on, for lack of a better word. So this kicked it off entirely.

The whole show is a standout for me. I enjoyed every single episode and every story. I think the most technically scary was “Lot 36″ and the most relatable to me in the way it is framed is “The Outside”. Upon my first watch of the show, I just knew I'd be head over heels for the “Pickman’s Model” retelling. It's my favorite Lovecraft story, and I just love that integration of tangible art and eldritch horror. It's just the best. 

I feel that the adaptation is very strong, and a great depiction of a more modern Lovecraft despite the setting and time period. I loved all the lil reference drops to other works in the Cthulhu Mythos throughout as well -- such a nice touch. 

I felt the relationship that Thurber and Pickman have is so utterly bizarre and my own explanation for why there is a draw there is that "the darkness" itself as described and felt by both character acts as an allegory for queerness. I might be um biased, being a queer person and all, but that's just me. I think it's also valid to interpret the whole relationship as like human curiosity--like hell yeah I'd also be fascinated by this guy's art, if not also a bit frightened! So the draw is simply explained that way... if you so choose. Lots of ways to go on that end of things, and that's rad. 

There is such a a genuine level of depth and understanding of character in the way Crispin plays Pickman. I swear there's not even that much depth in the original Lovecraft story! It's just all on this adaptation, the director, and his performance. It's outstanding, and he really steals the show (and my heart) in this one particularly.  

A lot of folks, and I mean A LOT, didn't seem to appreciate the the truly old-timey Bostonian accent. I see ya’ll out there. C'mon, he worked with THE Erik Singer for that accent to sounds as true-to-time-period as possible -- at least respect it but I find it fascinating how that, being as normal for that setting as it is, given an extra level of strangeness to Pickman as a character (namely because nobody else is doing that, give or take. There are some Massachusetts accents here and there from other characters but there's not really the same level of commitment). 

Also, I thought the way they did Pickman's sketchbook up as a multi-media and textural kinda piece in and of itself was a nice touch -- felt like that was purposely laid out specifically with Crispin in mind to play off the works he creates. Not quite, of course, but I think that's neat and how I’m choosing to read into it.

01. since u’re writing a (very intense) re-write of book 1 to 7 canon, how happy/sad were you about draco’s arc in the books and films? it always bugged me that him and the slytherins didn’t get to shine that much in both aspects, and that’s why we never really got to appreciate them a lot when the books and films came out. would love to hear your take on this!

02. not sure if this has been asked before, but what thing/s inspired you to write lionheart? i recall reading it was because of your love for to all the young dudes, but i’d love to hear you talk about this more

03. if j* r****** weren’t as awful a person as she was (and so terribly closed minded too) do you think there would have been a way for draco and hermione to be together in canon, or at least be some level of friends, if not together romantically?

04. i’m a narcissa black-malfoy apologist and stan, and can i just say, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for writing her in such a beautiful and heartbreaking way. i cannot wait to see how you write her arc in books 5-7.

how happy/sad were you about draco’s arc in the books and films?

Man, it makes me sad. It makes me sad that almost all the Death Eaters are also children of Death Eaters, establishing this as a familial cycle of violence and hatred, and that's just... left to sit there in the narrative, implicating.

Draco’s arc in particular is a flat downward descent from schoolyard bully into a fascist death cult, and it’s bleak as fuck. like, if these books are written from Draco’s POV, it is some gruesome and deeply cynical stuff, guaranteed. which is a shame, because I think “reluctant and begrudging reformed villain” is an amazing character type that he could have fulfilled perfectly. doesn’t even have to go on tour with the Golden Trio, either; because I lost hope for Redemption Arc after the end of book 6, my ideal world going into book 7 was just having Draco stuck in Grimmauld Place, being bitchy and ill-tempered about the Order’s witness-protection equivalent, while the others treat him like a house-elf. “oh, yeah, that’s Draco, he used to bully us but now he has to ask us to buy the tea he likes at the grocer’s,” etc. I mean, full redemption would have been great, and by far the most rewarding for him/me personally as a reader, but I kind of figured by the end of HBP that it wasn’t in the cards. JKR writes characters in a particular way when she’s interested in them as people, and Draco was just never written with that level of attention or care. 

he’s not even given a particularly rewarding antagonist arc. he doesn’t follow through and kill Dumbledore, thus giving him something irrevocable and life-scarring to repent for; but neither does he join the Order (e.g., Disappearance), meaning his ultimate contribution to the war effort is just this listless, choiceless trend of enabling. he’s forced into the plot with the Vanishing Cabinet, but can't kill Dumbledore; he tries to hide Harry’s identity from Bellatrix in Book 7, but it doesn’t work; he tries to catch Harry in the Room of Requirement and fails, then has to be saved by Harry from fiendfyre his own incompetent sidekick conjured. cringe failson. it’s also hilarious put in contrast with this fanon we have of hypercompetent draco — it’s like we all saw him and were like god bless can we please get this man a skillset. jesus christ he is getting killed out here.

but anyway tbh I think the most character development we see from him in all 7 novels is when Hermione slaps the shit out of him in POA (call that spell of Shutting the Fuck Up the way he doesn't even try to retaliate). The bathroom scene in book 6 is huge, because it’s the first time we get a modicum of sympathy for him, but that’s not followed up on — we just sort of leave him with “yeah, that’s tough.” we don’t even know why the Malfoys go back to Voldemort, because by all accounts, they seem miserable. Lucius seems miserable even before he hits his Flop Era in book 6-7, but he’s also broadly miserable all the time when we see him (likely bc we only see him when he’s plotting/scheming/exploding in rage when Harry manages to yet again Scooby Doo one of his plots, but who knows). I think the seventh book subtly implies the Malfoys are so close with Voldemort because of Bellatrix, and [spoilers incoming] I myself lean heavily on that thread in later sequences in Lionheart, but in the books it’s up to the reader as to how much the Malfoys really believe in the Dark Lord versus just comply with his orders from fear.

Hi today we're talking abiut power level and my thoughts about certain gen rex characters being weaker than their peers in a way.

There's one thing I've been thinking about for a while and I just need to share ny thoughts. It's me wondering, if Rex when he was a part of Hong Kong gang, was the phisically weak one? Ofc now Rex is stronger than all of them but I've been thinking about how Tuck said that Rex back then couldn't do his builds, and only could steal money from ATMs. So Rex back then only had his technopathy and curring abilities, wich makes sense since in promises promises that was the only thing Rex could do aswell. These are awsome powers, don't get me wrong but like,,, they were street kids, they propably got into phisical fights a lot, and overall a power to pounch someone good would be useful back then. But technopathy and curring? I'm not sure how that would help, you can't pounch someone with technopathy. And his bare fists wouldn't propably do much eighter. Like he was propably 12-13 years old, skinny and short. And this leads me to think, he was propably phisically the weakest of the group back then. Like he has awsome useful powers, just not useful in combat. Honestly it's interesting to imagine Rex who's now so op, as the one who propably was left mostly helpless in phiscal fights since what would he do? Cure the attacker? And what if that attacker wasn't a currable evo but an adult man with a knife??? What are you going to do hack his phone??

Other thing kinda related to this topic, is how in current Hong Kong gang I can't help but feel like Skwyyd is now in this "weak in combat but useful as fuck regardless" position. Okay so like this might sound dumb and it propably does but hear me out. I'm not saying Skwyyd is weak, beacuse we saw him in fight and he can do it just fine BUT. Okay so Skwyyd's main abuility is that smoke ink thing wich is obviouslly really useful to distract the opponent. We also see him ONCE (I think correct me if I'm wrong) in his first apearance use like turrning his hands into tencales of sort that are great to pounch someone. But like we see him use that only once as far as I checked, and it makes me wonder if that wasn't retconed beacuse like?? Why wouldn't he use it more fr. Maybe it's beacuse around 3 years ago I was into Jojo and like it was so common there for character to be instoduced with some ability and then retcon it out of existance. But like I just can't help but feel like creators eighter didn't like that hand tencale smack thing and decided not to use it, or they just forgot since it wasn't that memorable to begin with. So of that's the case (wich if it's not, that means Skwyyd propably just thinks that power is lame and decided to not use it dhhdhdhd), we're left with a great distraction power and just regular fist combat skills wich Skwyyd definetley has!! Like just for this post I rewatched fights in that Hong Kong gang season 3 episode since that's the episode with him I memorised the least, and there's a moment where Skwyyd pounches the ground and OH MY GOD I WOULD CRY MY KNUCKLES WOULD HURT SO BAD and he was fine so he definetley has skill in that. But like I can't help but feel he would need some support while fighting other evos. Like he's phisicallt decently strong like I said, just not as strong as Cricket with her legs litearlly made for kicking or Tuck with whatever the fuck you call his bandage powers. But even if that doesn't convince you, I think we all can agree he's at least NOT THAT GREAT at parcour and jumping. Like for sure he's good enough since it was said Hong Kong gang did those parkour sessions everyday (besides the days they did arts and crafts ofcourse bruh), but also even durring one of these sessions, we see how he rides on the back of Rex Ride with Rex. Overall there's a pattern of Skwyyd being helped in some way while jumping. Like the way he gets on Tuck's back in that season 3 ep?? It all leads me to conclussion that even if Skwyyd is good and what he's doing, and not really "weak", he's still a bit weaker than his friends and he does need their help.
