I don't know your time zone but it's Wednesday here, so hopefully I'm ok! I've really enjoyed reading your fills, they're all so brilliant. I'm nearly finished writing a Malec version of Beauty and the Beast; could you pick any other fairytale, your favourite or an obscure one you wish people knew or whatever criteria you like, and give us your best version please? Thank you, your fics make so many people happy!
you were absolutely fine! this is kind of a reverse tamlin fairytale that saeth and i talked about. because you mentioned obscure and while it's well known, it's not a super popular or mainstream tale that is used a lot.
also tumblr ate your prompt twice and i had it saved and then it gave me back your ask. if you want to share, you can always send over a link to your fic when you're done with it! beauty and the beast is a lovely classic! i hope you enjoy!

Alec runs through the woods, ducking behind a wall of vines and bending through their reaching grasp, ripping himself free with a tear of leather when they thorns grasped too deep.
Fray and Jace thought they were smart, meeting and taunting the seelie queen and Alec is the bait, the distraction. He runs to give them time but there is no time for himself. If he’d had even a moment to plan, to think, maybe it would have been okay.
However, the seelie queen is cruel and mischievous and she never strikes the same way twice. Jace prioritized Clary as he always does and once again, Alec finds himself paying the price.
It’s with a shuddering breath he breaks through a veil of shadows and smoke, and he pauses a moment
There are gates in front of him. Trees curving with charred trunks and branches and curling to create a large, looming gate.
Whoever is here, they are no friends to the queen. Alec can tell the difference in the magic, in the way that the knights and scouts hunting him slow down.
They’re more wary and Alec can hear them, on the other side of the veil, deciding whether or not they would risk their queen’s wrath, or whoever Alec’s stumbled over.
It’s enough for him and while it’s a risk, it’s certainly less of a risk than being thrown into a bloody chase by Jace.
So, Alec steps to the gate, bows a little in courtesy and opens it.
There is no one to greet him but the gates close behind him. The seelies have finally followed and while the gate will slow them down, even longer than the veil, Alec needs to be safe before whatever pollen he was hit with takes effect.
There’s another door and a hall with a throne and Alec gets halfway before whatever he was hit with finally hits him harder than he can stand and he crumbles, unable to take another step as he falls.
—
Magnus stares down at the nephilim collapsed by his throne. When the wards had summoned him, warning him of an intruder, he hadn’t expected to find nervous and terrified seelie scouts poking around his wards.
He especially hadn’t expected to find a pollen dosed shadowhunter, half-conscious and already caught in a haze.
“You won’t have very long—” Magnus tells him, bending down to run a finger down a flushed cheek. “The more you fight it, the worse it will be.”
Hazel eyes blink up at him and Magnus wonders at just what this nephilim, who was hunted to his door, sees when he looks up. Magnus smiles, teeth a shade too sharp, his golden eyes gleaming with curiosity and the velvet of his antlers angled up like a crown.
“Come now,” Magnus croons, “tell me angel, will you suffer while I watch? Or will you come to me for aid?”
Either way, Magnus will be entertained and while it would be more interesting and fun to fuck the cure into his prey, Magnus is fine watching him struggle through the attacks of pleasure by himself.
There’s a moment where he leaves the nephilim there, goes to his throne and sits and thinks this will be his evening. That he will watch a nephilim shudder and shake and break apart on the floor of his hall and enjoy seeing him scrabble at Magnus’ feet.
Instead, the shadowhunter slowly gets to his feet and stumbles over. There’s a confused, desperate look on his face and he nearly falls into Magnus as soon as he’s close enough.
“You poor thing,” Magnus coos and reaches out for him, hands cupping his face as he gentles his nephilim and brings him to his knees, between Magnus’ thighs. “What’s you’re name, pretty boy?”
“Alexander—” his boy murmurs out, something pinched on his face as he almost frowns and then he shakes it away. “I, wha—”
“Hush.” Magnus says, brushing a finger over his lips and petting the softness there. “It’s a simple enough deal, angel. Pleasure for pleasure and the cure is made.”
A hungry mouth presses kisses to his finger and Magnus chuckles, delighted by how this is going. It’s with ease that he unbuttons his pants and gets his cock out. There are a great many ways to cure this poison, but Magnus knows exactly which one he wants.
And why he wants it.
“Touch me first, sweetheart.” Magnus urges, his hand gentle on Alexander’s face and it’s a sharp contrast from the violent hunger he’s holding back.
Alexander wraps his fingers around Magnus’ cock transfixed. There is an endearing gleam of innocent awe as he tries to find a rhythm. Magnus allows it until he’s hard and soaking Alexander’s hands and more than ready to claim his prize, so he hooks a heel around Alexander’s back and drags him forward.
“Kiss me.” Magnus commands and Alexander’s lips are a soft plushness, a sloppy, wet kiss to the crown of his cock and Alexander moans, as if he already knows he’s found the cure he seeks.
“Drink—” Magnus tells him, and Alexander obeys, tongue eager and mouth hot as he suckles Magnus’ cock.
He’s a delight to behold and to feel and Magnus tangles his fingers deep in Alexander’s hair and fucks into his throat with a slow determination that has his boy whimpering and drooling around him.
When Magnus comes, holding Alexander’s hair and keeping him trapped and close, unable to spill a single drop, it’s with the knowledge that no matter what happens next.
He’s won.
—
Alec goes back to the court only to find Jace and Clary gone, Simon as well. It’s with an aggravated sigh that he glares are the queen.
“I evaded your hunters and scouts.” He tells her, not about to share, that he knows exactly what she meant to happen to him. “It is my right, as the winner to leave.”
There is a dark scowl on her tiny, infantile face and it’s disquieting to see such large eyes look so dead and only shine with malice and greed.
“Very well, you have won. This once.” She makes it sound like it was a game Alec wanted, something he joined of his own free will and he grimaces, holding back the threat that itches to break free from his hoarse and swollen throat.
If it weren’t for Magnus, Alec isn’t sure where he’d be or what condition he’d be in and while it was hard to leave him once Alec regained clarity, Alec knows it’s for the best.
“Once you’ve consumed anything of this realm, you cannot leave.” The queen is pale, staring at Alec in something like horror and there is none of her previous delight when he finally showed back up. “What did you eat?”
“I ate nothing.” Alec responds, because he hadn’t. Magnus took care of him, cured him and ruined Alec in ways he still doesn’t understand, but he hadn’t eaten anything.
“You have.” The queen says and she’s shaking, “what did you eat? I cannot break the claim binding you to this realm!”
Alec snarls, ready to explain for the second and final time that he consumed nothing, when a possessive, heavy hand curls around his hip and pulls him into a warmth he’s already been missing.
“Magnus—” he murmurs, surprised and delighted and unable to do anything but sway into him.
“Oh Alexander,” Magnus croons and there’s something dark in his golden eyes. “You didn’t eat of these lands, but you drank deeply to quench your thirst.” His lips brush Alec’s ear in a whispered kiss, “you didn’t think I’d really let you go, did you?”

Hello!! For femslash prompts maybe Heline and one of them asking the other to be their date for the malec wedding?
For you, I would write absolutely anything 🥺
~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o
A soft knock at her office door had Aline looking up from the stacks of paperwork her mother had left her before disappearing to take care of the ‘wedding situation’ as Jia had none-too-politely coined it. She rubbed at her eyes, cringing when she remembered she had put on makeup that morning, and hollered a clipped, “Come in!”
“Hi.” A sweet voice had Aline standing quickly, almost knocking over the cup of coffee she had made a few minutes earlier. She cursed and winced as she looked up to meet Helen’s eyes, smiling widely when she saw the takeout box in her hands.
“I could kiss you right now,” Aline said just as her stomach growled. Helen laughed and walked the rest of the way inside. She placed the box on the desk and tapped two fingers to her cheek, an invitation meant for Aline’s lips. Aline held Helen’s chin delicately in her fingertips and pressed a gentle kiss to the warm, flushed skin of Helen’s cheek before plopping back down to open the box.
“Maia’s been perfecting her recipes for that diner she wants to open. She’s got a warlock on staff that portals food straight to me when I want it. It’s a great deal,” Helen explained, sitting across from Aline and grabbing a fork.
“You do have a way of getting whatever you want, huh?” Aline teased through an overly full mouth. She chewed on the perfectly honeyed ham and practically moaned at the delicious taste. Maia’s food was the best, that much she was sure of.
“I like to think I do,” Helen said with a wink, stabbing her fork into a piece of pancake before Aline could block her. “Speaking of that…” Helen trailed off as if waiting for Aline to interject, but she was too curious at the segue to say anything. “Do you know what I really want?” Helen asked finally, crossing her legs and leaning back in the chair.
“My love and affection and appreciation for takeout?” Aline guessed, smiling messily. Helen giggled, grabbed a hashbrown, and tossed it at Aline who held up her arms in defense. She loved nights like that; where she and Helen were hidden away from judgmental eyes, free to tease and flirt and admire the other as openly as they wanted.
“Besides that,” Helen said with a roll of her eyes. Aline shrugged and focused back on her meal. “I want a date. To Magnus and Alec’s wedding, specifically,” Helen said easily, shrugging like it wasn’t a big deal.
Aline gaped at her for a moment, gulped, and said, “You want to go together? To the wedding? The warlock and shadowhunter wedding? That the Clave has not agreed to? As a… couple?” Helen nodded along to every question and Aline just stared.
Aline didn’t want to keep them a secret, even from the beginning. If she could have told the entire Clave about their relationship, she would have, but Helen was insistent that even though she was half shadowhunter, she was still a seelie. Her seelie side would mean the perfect Penhallow bloodline would be tarnished - words that had Aline thinking Helen had already talked to Jia about it - even if her skin held runes better than most. To hear that Helen wanted to attend the wedding at all, let alone with Aline at her side, was more surprising than the meal.
“Listen,” Helen sighed, standing to glide in front of Aline and reaching to lace their fingers together, “this thing we have? It scared me at first - still scares me more often than I’d like - but I hide half of myself every time I wear my hair down to cover my ears or layer my foundation over the vines on my neck. I’m not willing to hide the one thing in life that I’m truly proud of.”
“Me?” Aline asked shyly, peering up at Helen with wide eyes and trying to understand how she was so lucky. Helen laughed and pulled Aline to stand, wiping her thumbs around Aline’s eyes no doubt to clear the makeup she had smudged earlier.
“Yeah, you, Dork,” Helen tacked on like a fond afterthought. “So, will you be my date to the most controversial wedding the Clave has ever seen?” Helen asked nervously. Aline kissed her passionately and hoped the resounding confirmation was obvious.

Story:
The Seelie Court emptied as knights and nobles left the Queen and her High Knight for their midday meal. A noble hurried away quickly; tasked with retrieving the youngest of their heirs, Max, from his training session. Just like his older brother, Max, only at the age of 11, had started surpassing his age’s milestones, tutors having to be replaced as the young Seelie prince seemed to devour knowledge like no other.
“I was told our Alessa sent us another message,” Isabelle stated more than asked as she addressed Alec. She knew that her brother would’ve read through the letter first. As the High Knight of the Seelie Realm, her brother took his role seriously. Even if Alessa partly belonged to the Seelie Realm, she was raised willingly by Nephilims, and Seelies would always be wary of that aspect.
“It is more nonsense,” Alec dismissively confirmed, “nothing that our Kingdom needs to involve itself in.”
Alec was well aware of his sister’s fascination with the other realms and had foolishly hoped that the monitored contact with a half Seelie would sate her curiosity.
“According to who?” Isabelle questioned. She knew her brother’s motives and while Izzy respected them, she was growing tired of being sealed away. “Rumors are that she is asking for an alliance.”
“The Seelie Realm has no need for allies,” Alec firmly stated, turning back to his post at the edge of the Queen’s throne, “we shouldn’t involve ourselves with their ventures.”
“So will we just stay sealed for another decade?” Isabelle pushed forward with her interrogation. “A decade has come and passed. Our Realm is thriving.”
“If we open the portals again then we threaten that growth,” the Seelie Knight bit back. “You want me to tell you it is okay to open the Realm while the mundane plane is obviously in turmoil? Do you wish them to come knocking at our doorstep again?”
“Let them,” Isabelle challenged with a glint in her eyes. “I could use another blade to match the first.”
“Our people are still healing from the last attack,” Alec continued as he held his hand out to help Izzy step off the throne. He watched as it lightly trembled with each step his sister took away from it; a side effect of the early ascension.
In the past, when they had first tried to lead the newly ascended Queen away from the throne, it had started to wilt immediately. This had caused panic in the remaining nobles and the only surviving healer had immediately been rushed to the child Queen. They had found nothing amiss other than exhaustion. It wasn’t till they had tried to walk away from the Royal Court that the vines tightly gripped Alec, who was carrying Isabelle. They dragged Alec back to the throne and placed him with Isabelle upon it.
For the next months, every attempt to remove Isabelle from the throne was met with violence. It wasn’t till the vines finished wrapping around the base of the throne that the Seelie Realm finally allowed Isabelle off the throne within limits. Isabelle in simple words informed them that the Realm would never allow her far from the throne, since it had been corrupted when they forced the ascension, and because of that, it needed the Seelie Queen to always remain close.
“Our people don’t want to be caged,” Isabelle corrected, waving her hand to dismiss the nobles’ chairs. They sank back into the court, and in their place, rose three chairs and a small table. “Seelies aren’t meant to be still. We have access to other dimensions for a reason. A Seelie is only stationary when welcoming death, you know this.”
“That’s a dumb saying,” Max’s voice broke through the Court, “what if you are being tracked by something that goes off of sound? Then our option is to remain still.”
“It is just a saying Max,” Isabelle sighed, “don’t you want to go outside the Realm, Max? See what’s out there?”
Max looked at Isabelle and then at his brother. He had watched his older siblings have this battle multiple times over the years. He rolled his eyes and took his seat at the table, his attention captivated by the vines bringing them food.
“Does it matter?” Max huffed. “I’ll be lucky if Alec lets me out before my first century, even if the gates are opened.”
“We could hear them out without opening the gates,” Isabelle offered as she took her seat at the head of the table, “we could send a knight, and hear what their Shadow Council has to say.”
“Why?” Alec questioned joining his siblings at the table, “it won’t matter what they have to say. The Seelie Realm isn’t looking for allies.”
“The enemy of my enemy is a friend of mine, brother,” Isabelle stated. “The little council they are going to have has information about Valentine, and they could lead us to him.”
“So for revenge?” Alec pushed with an eye roll. The knight looked away when he caught sight of Isabelle’s crown. It always served as a vivid reminder of his failures on that night. “You want to hunt Valentine down?”
“I do,” Isabelle stated.
“Whispers say that he has taken some of the mortal instruments from the Shadowhunters,” Max added, grabbing some fruit, “he could build up an army.”
“Whispers from where?” Alec questioned as he turned his gaze onto Max.
“People talk and the wind carries them,” Max shrugged, avoiding Alec’s stare. He may not be good at omitting things like his older brother, but he learned a few other tricks. “Either way, Izzy’s right.”
“The Realm experienced the greatest loss last time Valentine had any sort of following,” Isabelle reminded, “we don’t want to take that chance again, Alec. I don’t want allies either, especially an alliance with Warlocks and Shadowhunters, but I will take that over a Valentine Army.”
Alec shifted his gaze and straightened up as he faced his Queen rather than his sister now. “Is that an order?”
“The Seelie Realm wishes you to go in order to collect information and ensure the execution of Valentine,” Isabelle confirmed and replied to her brother’s challenge.
“We won’t open the gates,” Alec conceded, watching his sister’s agitation at his perceived denial, “I will go alone to the first meeting in order to evaluate if they are even competent. Other Downworlders can be unreliable, so who knows if they’re even being productive with their gatherings.”
Isabelle relaxed and smiled at him.
“Wouldn’t it be dangerous for you to go alone?” Max questioned, biting his lip as he placed his food down, suddenly losing his appetite. “You could be overpowered by numbers easily.”
“I will take two other knights with me but not you, Max,” Alec stated, ruffling his brother's hair. “One of us has to be here to keep Izzy in line. She might take advantage that I am gone to redo the knight uniforms.”
“But her design doesn’t allow for hidden daggers!!!” Max cried out right away. The young Seelie prince blushed at his outburst but kept smiling. He often slipped into the role of Seelie prince so deeply, that it took one of his siblings to draw out their eleven-year-old brother.
“Exactly, so watch her,” Alec smiled and sighed, as he looked at Isabelle’s pleased expression.

I’m a bit obsessed with dragons right now (Mira from your fic is just adorbs btw 🥰) but I wondered for the Malec prompt: everyone thought Magnus’ true eyes were cat like Because dragons haven’t been seen in millennia, until now that magnus has assumed his true birthright as king of Edom . (+\- magnus developing golden scales & potentially ability to shift during a battle where Alec is threatened but they’re only noticed later. )
ohohoho dragons and Malec are my weakness I might have tweaked your prompt a bit but I hope you like it!! <333 Thank you for the prompt :D
Read in on Ao3 ~~~~~
“Remind me again why we agreed to meet here?” Alec shouts, voice out of breath as he and Magnus run through the dense forest.
“Because we wanted to show that we trust them,” Magnus yells back, ducking his head as a flare of magic flies past them. Alec curses under his breath and pushes Magnus in another direction, avoiding the barrage of magic thrown their way.
It was supposed to be a simple exchange between some local Faes and the High Warlock and Institute Head. They had a magical item that they needed for a demon summoning to help with the influx of demons that Manhattan seemed to be having. Little did they know the Faes were the ones causing the tiny rifts and set up the meeting to ambush them.
“For once, I want an exchange to not end with us running for our lives,” Alec complains.
“You and me both!” Magnus laughs as he jumps over a vine that pops out of the ground.
The Fae are persistent, Alec has to give them that. Magnus hasn’t been able to summon a portal at all with the amount of magic thrown their way. No matter what direction they turn to try and escape, the Fae are right on their tails, laughing and giggling at their attempts to lose them. Alec really wants to turn and fire off a few arrows in their direction, but the moment he stops running, he knows he’s a goner.
Alec and Magnus push through the thick brush and find themselves in an open field. Both out of breath, they look desperately around for any way to escape the Fae. He hears Magnus curse as either end of the field is too far away to head back into the woods. There’s no way they’re turning back around towards the threat.
“Come on,” Magnus says, running ahead not looking behind him. “If we make it to the other side in time, I could get us a portal open.”
“Magnus wait!” Alec shouts, following behind Magnus. There’s a good gap between them now as they race to get to the other side of the field.
Alec can feel his activated runes starting to fade out, slowing his pace. He curses and tries to keep up but realizes he’s running out of steam. Before he has time to warn Magnus, he feels a root wrap around his legs, halting his movement and slamming him into the ground.
“Alec!” He hears Magnus shout, but all of his attention is on getting the root to let go of his ankles. He takes out one of his arrows to try and stab the root, hoping it would give. Instead, the root starts to drag him in the opposite direction of Magnus and back towards the rogue Fae, fast. Alec curses and tries to get the binding off of him, the ground too rough for him to get a good hit on it.
“Leaving so soon, Nephilim?” The Fae giggle. The root begins to travel up Alec’s legs and around his body. “We were just about to have so much fun.”
Before Alec can protest, a roar echoes through the open field. Alec watches as the group of Fae looks up, the teasing grins disappear from their faces and is replaced with fear. Alec sees as a large shadow cast over him and looks up as well, a high pitched noise leaving his lips.
A giant dragon, the size of a school bus looms over him, smoke leaking from its nostrils. Its golden scales shimmer in the sunlight and Alec has to squint his eyes not to be blinded by it. The root wrapped around his body slowly starts to untangle allowing him to sit up. He takes his eyes off the dragon to the Fae and sees them slowly backing up.
“I’m sorry your majesty,” the leader stutters out. “I was not aware that he was claimed.”
Majesty? Claimed?
Alec’s eyes dart between the dragon and the Fae in confusion, not understanding what the hell is going on. The dragon lowers its head right next to Alec and he has to stop himself from making any sudden movements as the dragon lets out a low rumble.
“Of course, your majesty.” The Fae scrambles for its pocket and takes out the item that he and Magnus originally came for. The leader doesn’t take his eyes off the dragon as they slowly approach Alec to give him the pouch. Once the pouch lands in his lap, the Fae jumps back and creates as much distance between them and the dragon. “Sorry for the trouble, we won’t open any more rifts.”
Alec stares, gobsmacked as the Faes turn around and hightail it for the forest. The dragon next to him lets out a pleased rumble, gently nuzzling Alecs’s side. With one threat gone, Alec turns his attention to the dragon to get a look at it. The dragon pulls his head back far enough for Alec to see all of its features. The sharp teeth, the snout, the smoke coming out of the snout, the cat-like eyes, the-
Cat-like eyes.
Alec would be able to recognize those eyes anywhere.
“Magnus?” He squeaks out and the dragon lets out another pleased rumble. Like Magnus is happy that he figured it out. “You, you’re a, a dragon?”
The dragon- Magnus nods its head and he can’t hold back the hysterical laugh that escapes his lips. “The whole time I thought your eyes were similar to cats and they’re actually dragon eyes.” Magnus nods his head again, concern starting to line his features as Alec can’t stop laughing. “And you never corrected me!”
Alec pokes his snout, making the dragon reel back and stare at him in shock. “This whole time we’ve been dating I’ve talked about how much I love your cat eyes and not once you thought to tell me the truth!” Magnus has the decency to look a bit ashamed, a small whine leaving its mouth as he lowers his head on Alec’s lap. A low rumble vibrates against his legs and chest, what Alec assumes is a pout appears on Magnus’ face and of course Alec can’t stay mad at his boyfriend.
“You are forgiven,” he sighs, stroking a hand down the top of Magnus’ head and the dragon preens. A loud thumping can be heard behind him and he spots Magnus’ tail wagging back and forth against the ground. He chuckles at the sight. “Though a warning next time would be helpful. I thought you were going to eat me.”
Magnus rolls his eyes and removes his head from Alec’s lap. Alec stands up, pocketing the magical item in his Magnus stretches his body out, wings spreading out, cover the field in shading. Alec can’t help looking with awe at Magnus, his golden scales are stunning in the sunlight.
“You’re beautiful,” he blurts out. Magnus pauses in his stretching to look at him with a smug look, one that even in dragon form can tell is very Magnus. “Don’t let it go to your head.”
The dragon lets out a happy rumble and makes his way towards him. As he approaches a blue mist surrounds Magnus and human Magnus steps out from the cloud.
“Too late for that, darling,” Magnus says, wrapping his arms around Alec’s neck. “Dragons are very prideful of their looks, especially when it’s their boyfriend complimenting them.”
Alec scoffs, hooking his fingers in Magnus’ belt loops, pulling the man flush to his chest. “I think that’s more of a you trait than a dragon trait.”
Magnus hums and pecks his lips. “Guess you’ll have to find out. Good thing that dragons are not too fond of sharing so you’re stuck with me now.”
Now that I will never say no to,” Alec says, laughing into the kiss getting a pleased rumble out of his boyfriend.

where brave and restless dreams are won and lost
Written for the malec secret santa 2019, for the lovely @gaywoodandbine
Summary: Magnus is a witch. Alec is the witch-hunter tasked with bringing him in. (Two of these things are true, one is only half-true)
ao3 link
.
In the last remaining hours before first light, Alec crouches behind a precariously balanced pile of steel rebar and observes his target.
Magnus Bane stands in the middle of the gutted out building with his arms outstretched, a king of concrete and scrap metal. It should look ridiculous but even Alec, with his affinity for nature-based magic, can feel the power swirling in the air.
Blistering gusts of wind cut through Alec’s jacket like knives as he watches the ritual unfold. Though the building is sealed off by hanging sheets of tarp, it does little to ward off the winter chill. Alec’s fingers twitch in their gloves, aching to draw warmth from the earth deep below the concrete foundation.
He doesn’t so much as shift. He’s too close to his goal to surrender to something as trivial as discomfort. Not when there’s so much at stake. He sacrificed too much to get where he is now. The closeness of his family, his morals, his self-respect. One by one, they all fell to his ultimate goal.
If he concentrates, he can still see Jace’s face on that fateful day. His brother’s usual teasing and bravado was gone, replaced by grim determination as he shoved Alec aside and cast his last spell to keep Alec still. To keep him hidden and safe.
Jace’s parting whisper of, ‘It’s okay, Alec. It’s better this way,’ haunts him to this day.
‘It’s not,’ Alec had wanted to scream, but couldn’t. Not with the spell binding him. ‘I’m not worth it.’
The smooth tones of Bane’s voice snap Alec back to the present. He shakes off the memory, focusing instead on picking out the individual words of the ritual. When he does, he nearly gives away his position with a hastily muffled snort.
Bane is reciting the New York City building code.
An urban witch. Alec has never met one before. Growing up, he’d been taught that urban magic was rough and unrefined, a substandard form of witchcraft for those who couldn’t harness the raw power of nature. Looking at Magnus Bane, nothing could be further from the truth.
Alec refrains from rolling his eyes at himself. He can spend his time in frivolous debate on the merits of magic or he can focus on the mission, the first one he’s been trusted with since infiltrating the ranks of the witch-hunters.
No matter how beautiful this man and his magic are, it isn’t enough to save him.
“I’m sorry,” Alec whispers to the concrete ground. Perhaps it’s enough to give his apology by proxy, spoken to the medium of this witch’s magic rather to the man himself. Alec hopes so.
Drawing his bow, Alec readies an arrow tipped in magic-suppressing poison and fires.
.
Magnus is sunk deep in his own spell, electricity in his blood and the bustle of early morning traffic in his veins. The ebb and flow of a city that never truly stops. All of it rushing into his lungs and bringing fresh waves of power in its wake. And something else. Something that pings on the edge of his senses, a tang of vinegar in a freshly uncorked bottle of wine.
He doesn’t know what brings him out of the ritual, only that it does. He heeds the warning of his magic, the growing itch under his skin, and opens his eyes to the sight of an object flying straight for him. An arrow unerringly seeking his heart.
Not his heart, a distant part of him notes. His shoulder. Whoever is after him wants him alive.
Magnus’ eyes flash yellow. The hue of blinking neon. Double lines on dark asphalt. Taxis trailing a cacophony of horns as they weave through overcrowded streets. He throws himself to the ground just in time to hear the arrow soar past, his hands scraping open on the loose gravel. His blood seeps out and the city rushes in to fill the void.
Wild magic flickers at his hands, called by the spilling of blood. He twirls his wrist and the pile of steel beams on the other side of the building collapses in a ringing clatter. The sounds of cursing follow.
The shadow of a man stands to his full height amidst the strewn pile of steel rebar. Even in the dark, the swoop of his impressively large bow blooms from his body like wings. An avenging angel crashed down to earth.
Magnus has never put much stock in angels.
“You must be a new recruit, I’d remember a build like yours,” he taunts. An attack like this could only come from a witch-hunter, and if this one is arrogant enough to try and take Magnus on his own home turf, he’s about to learn a very painful lesson. “It’s been a long time since one of you people dared to come after me.”
He expects another arrow. What he doesn’t expect is a gust of clean wind that knocks him clear off his feet.
The world spins and he grasps for power that’s gone slippery in the face of such distilled natural magic. Magnus recoils even as he rolls to his feet. The witch-hunter is a witch. His mind races, trying to process the impossible. The witch-hunters hated their kind for the gifts they possessed, for the sacrifices they were willing to make to wield their magic. It was a hatred borne of fear, of the unknown. For a witch to join their ranks was unthinkable.
Magnus dodges another attack. ”Why are you doing this?” he shouts across the empty space. “You must know they’ll put you down the moment they learn what you are.”
He doesn’t get an answer.
Being in the heart of a city, Magnus should have the upper hand but this witch came prepared. The man reaches into a pocket and pulls out a pinch of dirt from a small pouch. Time seems to slow as he flings the earth to the ground.
The moment it lands, the building’s concrete foundation shakes apart, small cracks growing into larger ones.
Magnus dances out of the way to keep from being swallowed, and not in the fun way. The power from his interrupted ritual has run dry and so has the boost he’d gotten when he scraped his hand. He bounces lightly on his feet and prepares to fight the mundane way while he preps another spell. Looks like all his years of Tai Chi practice are going to pay off. Balance and flexibility aren’t just good skills for the bedroom.
Several large, thick vines snake up from the widening cracks, writhing in the air.
“Kinky,” Magnus calls out to his opponent, watching the vines come at him. “I like that in a man.”
He dodges on nimble feet, keeping one step ahead of the vines as he reaches for his athame. To be fair, calling it an athame is generous. On a shopping trip many years ago, Magnus had seen one of those tiny pocket knives disguised as a lipstick and became instantly enamored. But that’s the beauty of magic. It’s the perfect marriage of tradition and interpretation. And so Magnus gets to see the scandalized look on the faces of other witches when he pulls out his lipstick knife.
Correction. He got to see it. He won’t get to see it anymore if the witch-hunters get their hands on him.
He doesn’t know what their organization did to recruit a witch to their cause, but it can’t be anything good. Magnus needs to escape, if for no other reason than to let the rest of his people know how much danger they’re all in.
The first vine breaks through his defenses and winds tight around Magnus’ wrists, jerking them apart and sending the matte gray lipstick case flying. Another set of vines encircles Magnus’ chest and creeps up his legs, tethering him to the ground.
Once he’s fully ensnared, the witch-hunter steps forward into a dim pool of emergency lighting.
Magnus’ mouth runs on autopilot as he tests the strength of the vines. It’s a good distraction for the panic threatening to claw up his throat. “This is a bit much for a first date, don’t you think? I’m afraid I have to insist on dinner and a safeword, first.”
The man’s eyes widen before his expression shutters shut. “It has to be like this.”
What a crime for such a plush mouth to utter such garbage. Magnus scoffs, even as he continues to struggle. It’s a waste of effort but it makes him feel less useless. “No it doesn’t. Lie to yourself as much as you want but don’t give me that crap. You’re hunting your own people and that’s a choice.”
“I have to.” A wave of grief flits across the man’s face so quickly that Magnus nearly misses it.
The acerbic response dies on Magnus’ tongue and he kicks himself for being too caught up in his own emotions to see the truth. Because why would a witch betray their own people? This young man is either power hungry to the point of self-destruction or being blackmailed.
Magnus has his money on the latter. “What do they have on you?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“I’m the one who’s going to die for it. I’d say it matters a lot.”
The verbal blow lands perfectly and his attacker’s pretty face freezes. If Magnus was a better man, he might feel bad about the manipulation but if he learned anything from growing up on the streets and leaning witchcraft on his own, it was that if he didn’t fight for himself, no one else would.
“It’s my brother,” the man whispers, not meeting Magnus’ gaze. “They took my brother.”
“And you think they’ll give him back in exchange for me? You’re a fool.”
The man shakes his head. “I know they won’t. But wherever they take you, that’s where he’ll be, too. I have to find him.”
Dread lodges in a tight ball behind Magnus’ sternum. The fate in store for him isn’t a pleasant one. Even so, he can almost understand. There isn’t much he wouldn’t do for his own patchwork family. “I can help you if you let me. I’ve fought them before and I can do it again. We can find another way.”
Hope flares in the other man’s eyes but it’s extinguished just as quickly. Despair races through Magnus as his attacker pulls out another arrow. He can sense the poison on the tip, the way his magic tries to shrink away from the substance.
Magnus’ mind races, searching for anything he can use, anything that will stop what’s about to happen. The sharp point of the arrow descends towards Magnus’ unprotected neck just as a last-ditch idea forms too late.
The arrow stops in mid-air.
Magnus doesn’t waste the opportunity. Words spill from deep within his chest, echoing like the clanging of steel on steel. He throws the last dregs of his magic into the words and hopes it’s enough to work on a witch who isn’t bound by city rules. His voice booms in the dead of the night, echoing around the deserted site.
“Special authorization must be granted to work after hours. You must apply for an after-hours variance. If you do not have an after-hours variance, all work must cease immediately.”
It isn’t magic, not really. Magnus calls on the city and it comes to his aid.
As if from far away, Magnus can hear the sounds of traffic, the unceasing horns and the pounding rhythm of footsteps on concrete. The shouted cursing and the chatter of conversation. The music wafting out from bars and strip clubs. The thud of the subway snaking its way in all directions like living, metal tendrils of lifeblood. It builds from a roar into a deafening crescendo, pulsing in time with Magnus’ racing heart until it spills forth in a loud crack.
The witch-hunter is thrown backwards, crumbling to the group in an unmoving heap. His handsome features go slack and he doesn’t get up. The vines holding Magnus loosen their grip and wither, sinking back into the ground.
Magnus runs.
He takes the unconscious witch-hunter with him.
.
Alec wakes as he always does, to a familiar litany of failure. Jace is gone. Isabelle is in hiding. He’s alone and it’s up to him to bring his family back together. For a blissful moment, he can almost pretend that’s all there is to it.
One thought topples into the next like falling dominoes and the full sense of his failure comes crashing down. His family. Jace. Magnus Bane. He had one shot to fix things and he ruined it.
Alec bolts upright, the fight he lost settling into his mind like the first crisp fall of leaves. He takes in the unfamiliar room around him. The clean lines and large windows. Modern architecture and exposed brick. Not a plant in sight.
The urban witch. He’s in the home of his enemy.
“Alexander Lightwood.”
A lifetime living under his parents’ strict rules keeps Alec from doing anything as embarrassing as startling when Magnus Bane appears from nowhere. Not nowhere, he realizes, studying the layout of the living room. From some sort of hallway.
“How do you know my name?” Alec asks, playing along until he gets a better feel for the situation.
“Magic.” Bane’s smile would be flirty if not for the sharp curl of his lip. “Actually, no. I picked your pocket.”
Alec pats down his clothes, alarm replaced by confusion when he feels the familiar bulge of his wallet.
Bane responds without missing a beat. “I gave it back.”
Despite himself, Alec is a little bit charmed. And trying not to think about where Bane had to put his hands to get at his wallet. Which is when he realizes that it isn’t his money or identification he should be concerned about. He was carrying something far more important. Panic quickens his breath and he struggles not to let it show on his face.
He must fail, because Bane’s smile widens and from behind his back, he pulls out a familiar cloth pouch.
For witches like Alec and his family—natural witches, they liked to call themselves—being in the heart of a city is like trying to do magic with dampeners. There are small patches of tree lined streets, flocks of pigeons, small parks, weeds valiantly trying to grow even in the most developed of places, but using it is the magical equivalent of drawing well water from a dirty, shallow puddle.
Clutched in Bane’s manicured hand is the dirt from the Lightwood family estate, Alec’s conduit to the woodlands and lakes of his childhood home.
“Looking for this?” Bane asks.
Even his gloating is elegant. Alec hates him a little bit. “That’s mine.” Alec leans forward before he can stop himself.
“Not anymore. Perhaps you should have thought of that before you turned against your own kind.” Bane claps his hands once, “Let’s talk, shall we.” He settles himself into a disturbingly bright blue side chair and turns to face Alec on the couch.
In Alec’s experience, talk means something more along the lines of interrogation or execution. He doesn’t take the flashy witch in front of him as the type to soil his expensive furniture but it would hardly be the first time Alec’s wrong about someone. Cut off from his natural witchcraft, he feels exposed and vulnerable and very alone.
His hands clench into fists. Jace is counting on him and so is Isabelle. “What’s there to talk about? Are you going to kill me or not?”
“Not all of us are so cavalier about killing other witches.”
Denial is on the tip of Alec’s tongue, and it trails a bitter line down his throat as he swallows. It doesn’t matter that he didn’t intend to kill Bane or that he hesitated in the final moments, caught by an overwhelming sense of wrongness. He would have gotten over it, shoved down the sick feeling in his gut and done his duty.
His fingers flex against the throw blanket next to him. It’s a cotton blend, the soft material against his fingers soothing to his magic.
He could draw strength from it with the right incantation and a little spilled blood. Not for the first time, he’s grateful for the rigorous training his parents put him and his siblings through when they were children. Most natural witches specialize in a certain type of magic, and while Alec prefers the soil of the earth, he can draw power from nearly anything. He’s at a disadvantage here in his enemy’s lair but he’s far from helpless.
“Nothing to say?” Silence falls between them and then completely unexpectedly, Bane’s laughs. The force of it shakes his entire body, his chest and arm muscles straining against his tight Henley. “I suppose I should thank you. I had suspected your employers were after me for quite some time, and now I know for sure.”
Alec scrambles to adjust from potential impeding execution to unexpected humor. How many times was this urban witch going to surprise him? Alec should hate it in the same way he hates everything he can’t plan for, but he can’t deny the thrill that runs down his spine.
“What will you do?” Alec asks. It’s meant as an accusation and a challenge. What is Bane going to do with Alec? Instead, the words come out sounding like concern for Bane, as if the two of them are old friends rather than enemies.
For a strange moment, Alec wishes it were true, they they had met under different circumstances. What would it be like to combine their magic, opposite forces joining together into something new? Alec feels a pang of regret that he’ll never know.
Perhaps Bane hears it too because he squares his shoulders, a strange combination of fierce and resigned. “What I always do. Survive.”
A rush of shame beats against Alec’s chest at the part he played in tonight’s events. Another crests hot on its heels—because even if he had the chance to overpower Magnus Bane and bring him in, Alec’s not sure he could go through with it. Not now that the other man is more than words in a file.
He isn’t sure whether that makes him a good person or a terrible brother. Maybe both.
“I wasn’t going to go through with it,” Alec blurts out, and immediately regrets it. When Isabelle used to tell him to be more open about his feelings, he didn’t think she meant to his enemies. “I know it doesn’t mean much but it’s the truth.”
For the first time, the smile on Bane’s face is real. “I figured that much out. I don’t take just anyone home, you know.” The man honest-to-god winks before adding, “But I appreciate the sentiment, Alexander.”
Something flutters in Alec’s belly. Before he can think too hard on it, movement catches the corner of his eye. Never has he been more grateful for a distraction. He reacts without thinking, his hand reaching out to catch an object in mid-air. He looks down at it and blinks.
His earthen pouch is in his hand.
Power surges through his veins and he stifles a gasp. With effort, he tears his eyes away towards Magnus, slouched his chair like a king in a castle rather than a lone man in his modest apartment. There’s amusement in his eyes but beneath the arrogance is something else, something that softens the harsh planes of his face.
“Why?” Alec asks. His fingers curl protectively around the little pouch.
It doesn’t make sense. Why would Magnus give him this? Alec had been caught by surprise during their first fight but he wouldn’t make the same mistake twice if they came to blows again. Magnus has no real reason to trust his words; he could easily be signing his own death warrant with one act of kindness.
Except Alec knows he isn’t.
“A witch’s power is a precious thing,” is all Magnus says before getting up from his chair to show Alec to the door. It’s a clear dismissal but any reluctance Alec feels is overshadowed by the surprise of seeing his bow and quiver hanging in the entraceway. Alec shoulders them both, half expecting Magnus to protest but unsurprised when he doesn’t.
Magnus sends him off with a final parting shot. “You’re not the only one who’s lost someone to them. If you wanted my help, you could’ve just asked. Remember that in the future.”
Alec hears the echo of those words for a long time after he leaves the loft behind.
.
By some miracle, he isn’t punished by his superiors for his complete failure of a first mission. Instead of assuaging his fears, it puts him on high alert. What if someone figured out his connection to Jace and was silently tightening the net around him? What if they were biding their time in hopes he’d lead them to Isabelle?
An attack never comes and Alec eventually stops holding his breath. Right up until he overhears a conversation in the research lab.
“…taking another run at Magnus Bane. Not even he can fight off a dozen of us.”
Alec flattens himself against the wall as the pair leaves, too lost in their chatter to notice him. The pounding in his chest crescendos in his ears as the voices fade. He can pretend he never heard it. If he plays his cards right, he can arrange to be here when they bring Magnus in. Surely his conscience would be appeased if he isn’t the one to capture Magnus. His original plan to find Jace can proceed.
He knows before the thought finishes that it’s a lie.
In his mind’s eye he sees kind eyes and magic that gleams like fresh neon. A man whose response to being attacked was a soft, ‘If you wanted my help, you could have just asked.’
Alec doesn’t stop to put on his jacket. He walks to the nearest oasis of greenery and kneels in the dirt. His fingers sink into the freezing ground, pulling the familiar power of the earth into his hands. On a crisp breeze, his message drifts towards a loft in Brooklyn.
‘Whatever you’re doing tonight, cancel it. It’s an ambush.
PS – you said I could just ask for your help. This is me asking.’
The message should feel like the end of something. Like he’s giving up on his family, like he’s abandoning the only people he’s ever loved. But as Alec gets to his feet, he feels renewed hope spring to life in his chest, a tiny sapling pushing its way into the light.
He can’t save his family alone and he doesn’t have to.
With that thought, another piece falls into place. He isn’t doing his sister any favors by keeping her sheltered from the fight. Eventually she’ll lose patience and leave and when she does, Alec won’t be there to watch her back. Before he can change his mind, he sends off another message, this time to Isabelle.
A laugh bubbles up in his chest as he imagines introducing her to Magnus Bane. He has a feeling the two of them will get along a little too well. When he finally gets back to the Institute, he feels lighter than he has since this mess started.
This isn’t an end, it’s a beginning.

[Wildcard Prompt]: 175. “Yes, it is a real dragon, but I can explain everything…”
ilu #because dragons
also I went with Malec during the Shadowhunters season finale, even though you are not one of my show-people, just because I could not RESIST, and you always encourage the really ridiculous ficlets 💖💖💖 🐲
Magnus flings himself more than just walks through the Portal back home out of Edom, following the anchor of Lorenzo’s spell to get them over the Void between Realms, racing the destruction growing behind him, trying to move faster than the death of a world.
He doesn’t quite make it, caught by one final chaotic flare of power just as he goes. It feels like feedback static, sings down his spine like the worst mic squeal he’s ever heard, and even as he’s stumbling onto the Institute’s floor his body’s on fire, burning and twisting and he can’t breathe, he can’t think, he wants to roar.
He blinks, and the world looks wrong, the angles different and the colors dimmer but the shadows thinner, he can see the spark of Lorenzo’s magic, the stillness of Simon’s blood, the way power twists in and out and through Meliorn, just like the vines that grow on his skin. And oh, how the Nephilim shine.
He’s too tall though, and his hands are… he doesn’t have, he can’t–
Magnus inhales, chokes, sees sparks in the air and an itch in his scales, and he’s half-a-breath past panic when he meets Alec’s eyes. Alexander is looking up, but the expression is the same as it’s always been, warmth and wonder and an endlessly protective sort of adoration, and it’s enough to settle the too hot pace of Magnus’ heart.
“Did Magnus just turn into a dragon.” There’s a twist in Jace’s voice, like he’d tried to ask a question but couldn’t quite make it, because yes, somehow, Magnus is clearly a dragon, and he can’t really deny that even to the point of sarcastically asking if it truly happened.
Magnus tries to give him his usual I am too old to deal with your ridiculousness look, but his face won’t move and he can’t seem to roll his eyes. He pulls back a little though, and feels how much longer his neck is than it used to be, and tilts his chin down and flares his nostrils.
There’s a little trickle of smoke when he does it, and Magnus makes very sure to keep his mouth closed, since he has no idea if fire breathing is a thing, or how to control it if it is. He’d really rather not burn down the Institute.
If you’d asked him that a year ago…
Alec snorts, so Magnus thinks he got his point across.
“Well, that’s definitely Magnus,” Izzy agrees, an almost smile making her lips twitch at whatever it is Magnus actually did with his expression.
“Why?” Simon asks plaintively. “Was today not weird enough, we had to add unexpected shape-shifting?”
“Hmm.” Lorenzo hums, and tilts his head. There’s a glint in his eyes that Magnus doesn’t particularly like, but it’s not cruel or condescending or vindictively satisfied, as he might have expected considering the whole Asmodeus turned him into a lizard thing, just curious. “Edom’s leftover power had to go somewhere? And as the previous Prince’s heir was right there…”
“It turned my fiance into a dragon.” Alec presses his lips together, and then he sighs, shoulders sagging. “Of course it did.”
“If it’s anything like regular demonic transformation, he should be able to control it in a few minutes when the magic settles.” Lorenzo is really being quite nice about the whole situation, it’s a little unnerving.
Then again, he is getting to show off how he’s the smartest person (who can talk) in the room, so that’s probably appealing for him.
Magnus huffs out a breath and manages to make his new head nod in agreement.
Alec sighs with clear relief, his eyes closing with one long blink. He gives Magnus a wry smile as they open. “Not that you aren’t still gorgeous as a dragon.”
“But it’s hard to walk down the aisle if he’s too big to fit?” Clary offers, a smile growing on her face now that they’re all pretty sure this is temporary.
“Won’t fit through the bedroom door either,” Jace mutters to Izzy, who giggles softly.
Alec shrugs, not disagreeing with either point, still looking up at Magnus. “Since Lorenzo mentioned controlling rather than dispelling, does that mean you’ll be able to turn back into a dragon whenever you want to?”
Magnus’ shoulders don’t work the way he thinks they will, and instead of shrugging back, his wings arc upwards and smack into the courtyard walls.
Ouch.
This is a terrible place to be stuck as a dragon, that’s enough of that.
Magnus closes his eyes, and focuses on the flare of power that had singed beneath his skin, that has now settled everywhere, intertwined with the more familiar pulse of his usual magic.
It’s… smokier than he’s used to, but not actually terribly different.
Lorenzo was right.
He’s going to have to admit that when he can talk again.
Magnus swallows the urge to sigh, since he’s still not sure about that fire thing, and focuses on twisting the new magic down and in, on easing it into something sort of like hibernation.
He realizes part-way thru that he has no idea what happened to his clothes, which means he has no idea what happened to his ring, and he panics again, a too strong surge of magic as he tries to rear up on his hind legs. He smacks against the walls again, and feels everyone pushed back with the force of his power, and then Alec’s there again, stepping closer instead of back, lifting his hand enough to let his palm brush against Magnus’ scaled chest.
“Shh,” Alec whispers, and Magnus can’t stop himself from whining, a harsh whisper of sound that fills the area around them. “We’ll figure it out, whatever it is. We got you home, that’s what matters.”
Magnus twists his too long neck and rests his chin against Alec’s back, counting his breaths, his heartbeats, and tries again.
He finds his clothing this time, caught in some weird in-between space that doesn’t really exist but is where all the extra mass of his dragon body goes back, and yes, he will definitely be able to turn this around again if he wants to, which is a something to think about some other time.
He staggers a little, back on two feet, back in boots, which don’t rest at all the same on the floor as dragon feet and claws, and then Alec’s holding him up, strong arms wrapped around him. Magnus sighs again, his head tucked properly into Alec’s neck where he most wants to be.
Now they’re home.
Now he’s home.

;; How do you imagine kurono relationship with each one of the members of the precepts?
-insert eyes emoji + sparkling emoji- this will be fun
ps- sorry this took so long to respond andlkjafkbhsegkb I fell asleep like 3 times while writing this and got distracted several times by philkas and malec
——–
Chisaki Kai (Overhaul)
So, it is normal to see Kurono hanging out in the background when Chisaki is in the room, as he’s always following him around in case he needs anything at all, Overhaul’s thirsty? He’s got him covered, Fiji water for the best boss on earth
Kurono has such a high admiration towards him, you’ll be able to catch him gazing at Chisaki and melting every time they lock stares, you’ll be able to view the exact moment Hari spills his uwus every time Kai looks at him
Would never dare address him as Chisaki or Kai though, he’d be dead where he stands if he did, he respects Kai too much, and therefore only calls him Overhaul, though sometimes he might slip but pick himself up before he can call him by his name, he’s slick and therefore able to distract Chisaki when stuff like this happens
They’ve known each other for the longest time, Kurono knows almost everything about Chisaki and views him as his best friend, yet Chisaki has a hard time admitting he too sees Hari as his friend, but it is not as if it bothers Hari, as he is completely fine with the fact that Kai doesn’t view him as highly as he does, or so he thinks, Kai’s the boss anyway so it SHOULD be this way, right?
Irinaka Joi (Mimic)
Their relationship is… complicated. like they are friends but they are not at the same time.
They’re both very competitive when it comes to being the best co-leader of the Shie hassaikai, they’ve got this silent game where they are always trying to outsmart each other, well more like it is Kurono trying to be better than Irinaka and getting frustrated when Joi receives praise and he doesn’t, but Hari ain’t gonna complain because complaining will lead him nowhere.
definitely takes advantage on the fact he’s very obviously Chisaki’s favorite to make sure Irinaka goes through a pranks hell, you bet Mimic was woken up in a daycare with other toys just as kids come racing in, of course, he can’t do much other than escape and assist work late because goddamn Hari had to so kindly deliver him to some children which pulled at his little arms and legs and drenched him in saliva, and also stabbed bows into his head, you know, peachy, has to burn that body afterwards because there’s no way in hell Kai will let him get close to him, so many fucking germs.
overall though, they are able to hold a serious conversation, but if they are left alone for too long Kurono might start pushing Joi’s buttons until the room becomes a battlefield.
when Kurono is angry he will pick up Mimic and throw him against a wall, it doesn’t hurt him much so… gotta take advantage of that.
Nemoto Shin
oh boy, oooooooohhhh boy. when you see these two together, you know you gotta be scared, be very afraid, they are NOT here for good, don’t move, don’t shake, don’t speak, don’t even b r e a t h e, one wrong move and you’re fucking dead
Together, they’re like those popular beautiful stereotypical blond high school girls, sarcasm is their virtue, and you bet they know every flaw about you, the moment they get together, and they land their eyes on you, you’re dead meat, so bitch you better go perfectly still or hoe, you already fckn ded.
Nemoto is Kurono’s go-to friend, since you know… Chisaki isn’t exactly the best best friend, Kurono has Nemoto to back him up whenever he needs something Kai can’t provide, aka something emotional or physical, Hari finds Shin lots of fun and it isn’t rare to catch them talking when Chisaki is nowhere to be seen, or even laughing with each other.
They do tend to keep things strictly professional around Chisaki or Irinaka though, often meeting up right after to talk about whatever and chitchat
It may not seem like it, but Kurono loves drama, and who better than Nemoto to make people spill the tea? His quirk’s name should be tea spiller, not Confession, and honestly? Hari loves it, something he will more than proudly admit
When the situation is given, they both flirt with each other and call each other lovey nicknames, you know like… “asshole”, “dickhead”, and occasionally they address each other as “boo” but that’s more of a friendly thing
None of them talk about it but once they got so high together the next day they woke up in the same bed, luckily fully dressed, but it ain’t like either of them cares, it is simply that Chisaki would kill Hari if he knew this.
Sakaki Deidoro
Well there isn’t much to say about Kurono’s relationship with him, other than he occasionally tagging along with him and Nemoto to go bar hopping incognito at 3 AM while Chisaki is asleep, Kurono often being forced to take a thorough shower when he gets back because the smell of alcohol isn’t something Chisaki likes to find on his #1 assistant
For the most part, their relationship is due to work, as Kurono doesn’t see himself to be great friends with him, but still is willing to socialize with him, after all, he isn’t supposed to form strong bonds/relationships with the expendable bullets of the yakuza
Rikiya Katsukame
Again, there isn’t much to say, Hari things Rikiya is hot, he’s tall, muscular, and able to burst through a wall very easily, Kurono finds that amusing, and therefore is often seen checking him out with Nemoto, who simply agrees and adds on lmao.
_Doesn’t even talk to him tho unless it’s job-related, though sometimes he might tell him he’s done a good job after accomplishing a mission and leaves right after_
Hekiji Tengai
so, their relationship is quite complicated, since there are times Hari is responsible, stoic, and well-mannered, which is when he gets along with Tengai, they will talk politely over a cup of hot chocolate and Kurono will keep him up to date with anything he knows
but then there is when Kurono is in the mood to mess with everyone and you bet Tengai is his go-to target
Hari will tease him non-stop and make sure Tengai regrets seeing him that day, though when overhaul walks in he can’t say shit since by the end of the day he’s just another expendable serving under their command, and it’s not like Hari bothers him that much, as it is mostly just Kurono budging him and likely to get slapped, which only causes Hari to laugh whenever he’d get hit after annoying him
Rappa Kendou
Hari’s #3 favorite tbh, like, he simply likes this guy, there are no reasons why. Actually, there is, and it is that Rappa is simply a big puppy? You know, the kind to destroy your house while you’re gone and wants to bite everything with its little hurtfully sharp teeth? That Rappa to Hari
He’s so big,,,, Kurono loves that, he loves having to look up to stare at him in the face, he loves his strong build, he loves his arms, oh god his arms
you bet Kurono loves praising Rappa, whenever he fights, after overhaul, he is the first one to get a piece of Hari’s mind about his well-done job, thus boosting the guy’s ego, he often finds himself being able to control him better than many, this thanks to his quirk quick practically paralyzes him? until he’s calmed down
Kurono loves his gigantic pupper, you bet that Hari spoils him, Rappa is a good guy, if only he didn’t want to fight everyone to literal death, and that’s something Kurono acknowledges and finds amusing, he does his own thing, and doesn’t like being put into teams, as it has been seen before, but we all know Hari would not say no to overhaul
Setsuno Toya
Toya, Hari, and Shin are the mean girls of the Shie hassaikai, Hari is Regina George, Shin is Gretchen Weiners, and Toya is Karen Smith, he has the least power out of the three, but he’s nice to have around so they keep him in the group lmao
Kurono talks to Toya more through text than face to face, mostly because they send each other lots of memes and funny/ugly selfies, they also make mischievous plans to mess with Overhaul almost every day, and rarely have they been caught
Setsuno allows Hari to take his phone and send Overhaul vines asking him to see them, after all, Toya is suicidal, so he’s got nothing to lose, and even though Kurono appreciates Setsuno as a pal, he knows he can’t get attached, and therefore just does as he wants
though when Setsuno needs help, Kurono is more than willing to offer himself first, he may not be very good with advice and emotions though, but he is a good listener and will sit and hear him out through every rant along with a cup of hot chocolate
They once made a plan together to prank overhaul and Kurono replaced Chisaki’s usual black surgeon mask with one that said ‘owo’ one morning and paid Toya to go up to him and say “good mowning mitew owohauw” and record it, but in addition to that, which made the video way better, Overhaul replied with a sigh, and in a very disappointed tone… “hewwo”
Soramitsu Tabe
chompy boie, Kurono doesn’t usually talk to him, but sometimes he will bring the weirdest foods and feed them to Tabe just for fun
He likes to invite him and Hojo when he hands out with Setsuno, since they are Toya’s friends, and together they will find reckless/fun stuff to do, of course, Overhaul never knows that Hari tags along with them, they keep Kurono covered -insert thumbs up emoji-
Once, Hari gathered all the precepts and made them sit in a circle around Tabe and brought in a deep fried sock, together they all chanted until Tabe was so overwhelmed he ended up eating the sock
Yu Hojo
welp, Hojo is one of the only people he actually maintains a calm and professional relationship with, unless the gang gets together, but that’s another story
They chat and discuss about serious topics, sometimes Tengai will join them, and they’ll have a nice and calm time spent together but that’s about all they do
They also read novels and watch those dramatic Mexican novellas, and it is normal to see them talk about them, Hari knows Spanish and has tried teaching Hojo, but his accent is poor and his pronunciation is hopeless, though Hari still tries to teach him and Hojo tries even harder to learn

So finally, after years of being too lazy to even buy a tree at all, this year, Magnus Bane went to target, picked out a whole bunch of pretty ornaments and frizzy fake vines and colorful lights that flashed for his tree. Just to be lazy again and end up not buying a tree because he convinced himself that he spent too much money on the decorations.
It didn’t work out too well.
But now, as Magnus feels helpless and lonely, he makes a groundbreaking decision.
He’s going to go out and buy a Christmas tree on Christmas Eve.
...Or fluffy Christmas AU where Magnus makes a seemingly foolish and spontaneous choice to go out Christmas tree shopping on Christmas Eve but ends up meeting an adorable man in a cropped sweater instead and decides that the man is more important.

I know everyone is on about this execution but I just really want to know who's getting married tbh. Sizzy seems the obvious since they're engaged, but what if we actually get some random one? What if Zara shows up with a ring and is like "omgggg meet my fiancé" and Cameron just swaggers in? What if Ty quotes a vine and Kit is like "marry me" and it actually happens? What if Malec finally get married? Or Clace? The possibilities are endless

ida bless me w ur writing pls!!! could you do malec + “Enough with the sass!” or if that's already been done “STOP INTERRUPTING ME!”? extra points if u do both in one but absolutely not necessary!!! thank you sm!!
aaaahhh ily saskia! thanks for sending a prompt, i hope you don’t hate it! I’m sure it’s not what you wanted but after the 3a finale I had to write a scene that was missing from the episode. Sooo spoiler alert for episodes 3x09 & 3x10!
Word count: 1.5k
85. “STOP INTERRUPTING ME!” & 83. “Enough with the sass!”
I will carry youThe night was almost over, the solace of the dawn reaching for them as they slowly made their way through the wintery city. It had all felt like a fevery dream, every moment fleeting, something you could barely even begin to grasp before it was gone. Magnus tried to remember everything that had happened, everything that had led him to this point - his fight with Lorenzo, meeting his father and losing his magic. It had all happened so fast that he hadn’t even really realized it all.
He could feel Alec leaning onto him more fully now, his strength leaving him with every heavy beat of his heart, fighting to keep him alive. More than anything, in that moment Magnus wished he still had his magic, his powers so he might save him or at least create a portal and get him to safety faster.
The sun was already rising, the fresh morning painting the city with its frail colors, melting the frosts of the night. He glanced at Alec then, not an ounce of color left in his pale features, his eyes darker than Magnus remembered them being. He stopped walking to adjust his grip on him, his jacket already covered in his blood.
“Alec, stay with me”, he whispered, nudging him a little, causing Alec to smile faintly at him, as if there was something to smile about.
“I’m fine”
“You were stabbed, you’re not fine”, Magnus said with a roll of his eyes, tightening his grip on Alec’s arm, holding him closer.
“Yeah, yeah, are we far from the institute?”, he asked then, his voice a little slurry and his eyes drooping. Magnus glanced at the arrow still sticking from his chest, now riddled with awful memories.
Will one of my arrowheads end up in that box?
Magnus shook his head, chasing the thought away. He supposed that question had been answered now - he would never want to remember Alec by his arrows, not now that he had been stabbed with one.
“Just a couple blocks, can you hold on that long?”
“Mmhmm”, Alec slurred, his eyes closed as Magnus began walking again. Magnus was strong, always had been, but this was testing every ounce of strength he had left in him, for all that he had lost, he wouldn’t survive losing his Alexander. He could give up his magic, the very core of his being, but not Alec. Never him.
He gave a silent prayer to anyone who might’ve been listening, to spare him. For if Magnus lost him now, what was there left for him then?
“Magnus, I have something I need to say, though, in case I don’t make it”
“Don’t talk like that”, Magnus exclaimed, turning to look at Alec with panic in his eyes.
“But just in case”, Alec insisted, angling his head so he might see him, “it’s important”
Magnus sighed then, leaning a little closer so Alec might whisper into his ear.
“You look really hot in that coat”, he said, more loudly than necessary for any regular conversation, causing Magnus to huff in mild disbelief at his words, all worry gone for the time being.
“Alright, enough with the sass until we fix you up”
“I wasn’t being sassy! It’s true what I said”
“Alright, but if you die here, I’m going to repeat those words at your funeral so maybe don’t speak until you’re better”
“Fine”
Magnus rolled his eyes at him, though he couldn’t help the incessant smile tugging at his lips, or the fluttering in his heart. He really did love his angel, didn’t he, even in silly moments like this. So he simply fixed his grip on him, and carried on, feeling much lighter than before, wondering if that had been Alec’s purpose all along.
-
The cold winds were playing with the small fire that sat in the large fireplace, decorated with rose vines, creeping up and down its stony exterior like the light coming from the small windows, dotting the grey walls with its life. He turned to look back at Alec then, his small, but steady breaths the most wonderful sound to him then, for they let him know he was alright. He was going to be alright.
The arrow was now lying on the table next to him, discarded there in haste as the doctors had rushed around Alec, pushing Magnus aside with feeble words of encouragement. But it was only then, as he saw Alec alive and breathing, that made him feel better. If he was alright, his sacrifice had been worth it.
He could feel Alec stirring, waking up and his hold on his hand tightened as he perked up, eager to see his angel awake.
“Magnus?”, Alec asked, his voice small and weak, but Magnus heard him all the same.
“I’m here, Alec, I’m here”, Magnus reassured, hovering over Alec as if his very presence was enough to keep him from any future harm.
“Good”
He opened his eyes then, focusing his attention solely on Magnus, a gentle smile tugging at his lips as he studied his face. To Magnus, that smile was the most wonderful thing he had ever seen and he was sure Alec had never smiled so beautifully before.
Alec sat up slowly as Magnus supported him, fixing his pillow and holding his hand, as if he was ever going to be able to let go. He had almost seen his greatest love die, so he wasn’t going to leave him for a long time. He knew he couldn’t even if he wanted to.
“You okay?”, he asked quietly, Alec only rolling his eyes at his concern.
“Magnus, I’m fine”
“You died! Your heart stopped beating!”
“Almost died”, Alec corrected with a pointed look, earning an exasperated sigh from Magnus.
“Glad to know your humor is as terrible as always”
“You wound me, Magnus”, Alec said, feigning hurt as he adjusted his position. Magnus only sighing as he sat back down on the chair beside his bed.
Alec turned to properly look at him then, his eyes stern and unreachable as he studied him.
“What did you say about your magic being gone?”
Magnus couldn’t claim to be surprised that Alec remembered that, but he hadn’t really thought of how to break it down for him, and not make him all the more worried.
“Asmodeus wanted it in exchange for helping me”, he said simply, not daring to meet Alec’s eyes, “I knew this when I left - he always requires a sacrifice”
“But your magic? Was there nothing else you could’ve given?”, Alec worried, sitting up more straight as he took Magnus’ hands in his.
“He did ask me to rule with him, but that would’ve meant giving up everything”, he explained, finally meeting Alec’s gaze. “And I couldn’t bear to lose you”
Alec stayed silent then, unsure how to continue or simply surprised that Magnus would rather give up his magic than not be with him. So Magnus stayed quiet too, not telling him how easy the choice had been.
“So you just, what, gave up it up? Without a fight? Magnus, you’re a warlock - your magic is a big part of you and you just-”
“Alec, it isn’t like that!”, Magnus interrupted, his mouth opening and closing as he searched for the right words.
“Don’t interrupt me!”, Alec said then, his voice rising as he turned to fully face him, wincing a little in pain at the sudden movement. “You did all that just for me?”
“What do you mean just for you? I-”
“Stop interrupting me!”, Alec shouted then, his hand on his heart to stop the wound from opening up. Magnus only closed his mouth then, not wanting to fight.
“You should’ve stood up to him, fought him or something! You can’t just give up such an integral part of you, after all you’ve already sacrificed, just to save me and Jace”
“I didn’t do it just for you, I did for everyone. I needed to free Jace, so we might have a chance at stopping Lilith and had I not, you- you would’ve died Alec”, he said, his voice getting quieter and quieter.
“I know that, but I just- I don’t want you to resent me because of this”, Alec said, his eyes dropping to look at his hands, clasped on his lap, instead of Magnus.
“Resent you? This isn’t your fault, Alec”
“But it is”, he said, worrying the inside of his cheek before continuing, “I shouldn’t have let you go”
“We didn’t have a choice”, Magnus reassured, raising his hand to hold Alec’s, smiling softly at his concern, “and we’ll get through this, like we always do”
“Okay”, he whispered, finally meeting Magnus’ eyes, “but I’m going to train you”
“What? Why?”, Magnus chuckled, his brows furrowing in surprise.
“So you’re not totally helpless”, Alec said very matter-of-factly, as if it was obvious that he needed to train Magnus now that he no longer had his magic.
“Fine, you can train me”
“Good”, Alec said with a firm nod, and Magnus couldn’t help but lean in and press a small kiss on his forehead, ruffling his dark hair as well.

Summary: Alec Lightwood had just gone through the worst year of his life. After losing both parents in an accident, he made things ten times worse after one drunken night with his best friend Jace. He needed a change and picked the quietest place he could find and bought an old house where he intended to make his life long dream of writing a novel a reality. Little did he know that things weren't as quiet as he had first thought. It wasn't until he had bought the place that he learned of it's sad past and of it's previous owner, Magnus Bane. It seemed that he and Magnus shared a troubled history where love was concerned and that misery loved company and even the veil between one life and the next was no barrier for two troubled souls. But finding love would mean risking losing it as well. Did Alec have the strength to do that again?

And Jace says: “Go to him.”, and Alec's world breaks in half.

Being a half shadowhunter was hard. Thats why my mom decided not to tell anyone, especially the clave. My father was a shadowhunter and my biological mom a seelie, more specifically the seelie queen. Big deal? I know! So when she, my mom, found me on the door step of the (Y/N/C) institute with nothing but a note she took me in. She said I couldn't of been older than two weeks old. All the note said was ‘half shadowhunter, half seelie. The queen asks you to protect her. Her fathers gone, not by your doings. Good luck.’ My mom decided to keep me still. Thank the angel. From the age of 10 I’ve known that I was different. She told me so I would be able to prepare better for my rune ceremony. I had to learn to take pain without showing any signs so when I got my runes no one would question me.
Every time I apply a rune I hold back a grimace. Yes it normally stings a bit for normal shadowhunters but its worse for me. When I was 15 I decided to transfer to New York. As life would have it Clary Fray would enter the New York institute only 6 months later. Life was hard, as it always is, but now add Clary in and you could times it by 10.
So for the next year my life was hectic to say the least. I was with them through it all: Valentine, Sebastian, The endarken and the most tragic malec break up. During that time I got close to them all, especially Jace. He asked me out eventually. We have been together for just a few days but still. We had just came back from a mission and I went to my room to draw some iratze. I prefer doing it in private so my grimaces can show with no questions. I took off my shirt so I could draw one on my shoulder. The shoulder with my mark. For all I was only half seelie I still had a golden branch marking on my shoulder. It was the reason I couldn't wear tank tops in public. I was halfway through drawing it, with a scrunched up face, when Jace came in without knocking. “Hey.” He looked up and saw me sitting there, shirtless, in pain and with a seelie marking.
I explained it to him. I trusted him and he had saw the mark so their was no going back. He didn't look down on me, he still trusted me. Thank the angel. Life was a lot calmer now, however not for long. The head of the institute, Alec, had to go to a meeting with the seelie queen on behalf of the clave. He hated her so he made Jace and me go as well. Jace wasn't fond of me going, as of his knowledge of my birth, but I wanted to go. I don't know who my real mom is and im still half seelie so I wanted to see what I would've become if I was kept there. Who knows? Maybe I'll cross my real mom and never no it.
We went through the portal to the realm. Our group was consisted of: Alec, Jace, Me, Clave representative Will Battlechild, and Inquisitor Robert Lightwood. Me, Jace and Alec walked together while Will and Robert walked ahead. “I don't think we should go.” Jace warned. “We've got no choice.” Alec sighed, stress showing. “We’ll get out as soon as possible, quit worrying.” “Yeah, that's his job.” I jabbed my thumb in Alec’s direction. He swatted it away with a small smile and Jace gave a weak chuckle.
All 5 of us ended up standing in front of the seelie queen. We all bowed our heads and were as charming as we willed. My eyes would drift round her court looking for anyone with similar features. Eyes, hair, skin, anything indicating a link. I brought my eyes back to the queen as the ‘official business’ was coming to an end. “I cant say it was a pleasure talking to you shadowhunters but it was nice to see how you've grown.” She turned her head to look at me, as did everyone else. Jace had worry written all over his face. “I beg your pardon?” I flicked my eyes over to my fellow shadowhunters then back to her. “You’ve grown well. Good features.” She got up and started walking over to me. I didn't flinch. I didn't fear her somehow. She grabbed my face gently, Jace’s hand went to his sword, and moved my head slightly. “You’ve got your fathers eyes.” “What is the meaning of this?” Will asked. He was an older man, in his 40’s, and not keen on downworlders. “I’m merely speaking to the little one. No need for panic.” She step back and started circling me slowly. “You would've fared well here. I always wondered what it would be like if you remained here.” “Leave her alone.” Alec stated. “She hasn't been to your court before.” “Alec.” Jace said sharply before shaking his head. Robert decided to ask me though. “Have you met her before (Y/N)?” Before I could answer the queen spoke again. “So that's what she named you. I would of picked one better I can assure you. Maybe Lillian or Alexandra.” “Why would you of named her?” Robert asked looking at me through squinted eyes. “Enough.” I finally spoke. “Not here. Not now.” I placed the pieces together. She was the only one who resembled me. Who had the same mark on her face. “Oh goodie!” She clapped, coming in front of me. “You’ve finally recognised mummy.” Everyone's jaw’s dropped, almost my own. I swallowed hard. “I noticed you peering round my court. You my dear happen to be the princess of it.” She sat back down on her throne of vines and flowers. “You may go.” The queen smirked as we walked out silently.
Once back at the institute I was told to follow Robert and Will to a private room. Over the next few days I was questioned over and over, with and without the soul sword. It hurt like hell. They couldn't decide if I should be aloud to stay or be sent to the seelie realm. I wasn't aloud to talk to anyone unsupervised. Even Jace. Jace told me on one of the few times he was aloud to visit that we weren't aloud to be together. That if we were we would both be punished. We shared a kiss before he left me the final time. After a weeks of debate over what was to be done with me they decided. I couldn't stay because of my association with the queen, I couldn't die since it would anger her and may start war, I couldn't be unruned and sent out as a mundane because the risks so it was decided. I was going to the seelie realm, my realm. Away from friends, family and love. I was aloud an hour with my shadowhunter family before I had to leave. Tears were shed but we were grateful for the hour Robert had made the clave give me. I however had no time to say good bye to friends. I was told I would be killed if I didn't stay in ‘my’ realm.
I walked down the corridor with a guard on each of my side, behind me and in front of me. Shadowhunters lined the corridors. As I walked my friends stopped us at the door. “Please let us say goodbye.” Clary asked with tears down her face. They nodded and stepped to the side.
Izzy, Clary, Alec and Jace stood in front of me. My arms were handcuffed behind my back so when they hugged me I couldn't return it. After the hugs and tear filled goodbyes Alec told me, “Magnus, Simon and Luke are outside to wave you off. Magnus said Raphael says good luck since its day time.” I nodded.
I was friends with many downworlders so when I was escorted out I saw even more that weren't mentioned. Maia, Magnus, Simon, Luke, Tessa (whom I met in a bookshop before I knew Magnus), Dot, Jordan Kyle and some others. As I walked they nodded their heads at me. Who knew if I’d survive the seelie realm.
As we walked further away from the institute Jace came running to us. He pushed through the crowds and slipped passed the guards. He grabbed my face and kissed me. He pulled away only to clip a necklace round my neck quickly. “I love you.” Was the last thing he said before being pulled away. “I love you too.” I yelled over my shoulder as the guards started pushing me forward. I cried and then looked down at my necklace. A heart shaped locket was all I could see before one of the guards next to me tucked it under my shirt. The other guard who’d pulled Jace away came back. “What was he trying to give her?” The one who had hidden my necklace responded. “Dunno. I think it was a necklace but he was pulled away before he could put it on her.” I would be forever grateful for his quick thinking. Our walk continued and my tears dried on my face. I was pushed into the seelie realm after being told. “If you return you’ll be killed.” I walked into the court and was flanked by seelie guards as I walked further in. They guided me to my ‘mother’ who had seelies uncuff me.
“Welcome home honey.” All I could do was let my head fall. Though she tried to make conversation I didn't respond. I eventually asked where I was to sleep and she escorted me to a room. My room. Their was a grand bed made out of tree branches and the room was surrounded my everything from nature. Including a small waterfall in the corridor. I went straight to the bed and went under the covers, only taking off my coat and shoes. As I lay there I cried and pulled out the necklace. I opened the locket to see two pictures and a tiny folded up note. Their was a picture of a selfie of me and Jace which I made him take a few days before we first came into the seelie realm. The other picture was of the Lightwoods, me and Jace gathered round a table before Clary had shown up.
I unfolded the tiny note and read it. ‘Ista est fortis et amor vinces. Et superesse adhuc et adherebit’ which is Latin, which he taught me, for ‘Love will conquer and ours is strong. You will survive and we will be united again’ Underneath that it wrote, in English ‘we will find away. We always have’. That night I cried myself to sleep. I dreamt of Jace and he dreamt of me.
Do you guys want a part 2? And what last name do you want me to refer to Jace as? (Herondale, Wayland, Lightwood, Morgenson )
Also I have a Hermione imagine being posted tomorrow. I was thinking of doing some more ‘dating would include...’ so tell me what characters would like to see aka read.
