A/N: This request was made before I decided to no longer take x reader requests. Sorry for not fulfilling the original request, but I hope you still like it; this is my first time writing for shumako so hopefully I did it some justice! ＞︿＜ (P.S. the links are to my favorite fics about the pairing!)

Haru & Ryuji (213 words)

Haru's favorite dates are gym dates; she loves to work out, and getting to hang out with Ryuji is always an added bonus. Ryuji is the one who introduced her to the gym she frequents. Sometimes they run into each other there without having coordinated beforehand and end up spotting each other.

Ryuji never says no to a good gym date, but he always likes unwinding afterwards with a hot bowl of ramen. Haru prefers casual dinner dates instead of the stuffy, high-end, dinners that she's used to.

For special occasions, Haru goes all out and spends exorbitant amounts of money to spoil Ryuji. She likes to be able to use her money for something good—making her boyfriend (& friends) happy.

Ryuji always feels a little guilty accepting such expensive gifts or trips, so he tries to make it up to Haru with unforgettable experiences. He usually spends a lot of time coming up with ideas: Haru cherishes every moment.

Ryuji gets into gardening for Haru; he wanted to be able to understand her green thumb lingo. He keeps a small planter by his window now; while Haru prefers to grow food, Ryuji finds that he likes to grow flowers. Haru and Ryuji's mom are more than happy to receive them as gifts.

Futaba & Yusuke (172 words)

Futaba's ideal date is a quiet night. Yusuke's ideal date varies; he likes to go out with Futaba to various places in order to gain inspiration. This leads to them usually watching movies. Yusuke and Futaba are on a mission to find the strangest movie ever.

Yusuke isn't necessarily a home-body like Futaba is, but both of them have a tendency to spend time indoors rather than outdoors. Thusly, they've decided that, for both their vitamin D levels, that they'll take one day out of the week to dedicate to a nature walk; most of the time this involves them going to the Kosei botanical gardens—Futaba appreciates the quiet and Yusuke appreciates the scenery—but they do, on occasion, go to other places.

In the rare cases they go somewhere special for a date, Futaba likes to plan in advance. As Futaba gets more comfortable going, they need less time to plan; however, she always makes sure to check the weather. Regardless of the forecast, she always makes sure they bring an umbrella.

Ann & Shiho (218 words)

Shiho loves scrapbooking: it's one of her favorite hobbies and it has the added bonus of being able to make spreads of her girlfriend's latest shoot. It makes Ann a little embarrassed, but mostly happy; they make it a habit to always pick up a new magazine whenever they go to the mall together.

Ann loves going shopping with Shiho: walking around with Shiho, just getting to be normal teenagers and trying on cute clothes—that's the ideal date to her. Now, more than ever, she values her time with Shiho.

Shiho finds it just a little annoying that Ann is so willing to drop everything just to go out with Shiho: she wants to go on a date and spend quality time with her girlfriend—not feel guilty for making Ann reschedule a shoot!

Once they go long-distance, Shiho and Ann usually call during meals; it can be a little hard to coordinate during different time zones, but they like to be able to have a meal together. Shiho and Ann work on a list of activities and places to go once Ann comes back to Japan during these calls. In the case that they can't call over a meal, Shiho and Ann send each other pictures of their meals. Shiho develops an interest in photography because of it.

Makoto & Ren (190 words)

Ren likes to take Makoto out to try new things: strange foods, thrill rides, new arcade games—he likes to get Makoto out of her comfort zone and see all new sides of her.

Makoto enjoys reading with Ren: they read mystery novels together and try to solve them.

Once they go long distance, Ren and Makoto do sleep calls.

Makoto adores inviting Ren over to her apartment; she likes getting to be domestic with Ren—getting to go grocery shopping, picking out plates and furniture—the mere idea of a peaceful forever with Ren is what her favorite "dates" are. But grocery shopping isn't really a date.

Ren had an incredibly brief stint upon returning home where he got really into exploring abandoned buildings. Morgana and Makoto talked him out of that one real quick, but Ren managed to take her somewhere abandoned at least once; Makoto was scared witless and Ren was far too enthusiastic about the whole thing, but they still both manged to have fun. Not enough to do it again, though: Makoto would much rather just use a horror movie as an excuse to cling to her boyfriend.

Goro Akechi (35 words)

He doesn't really think about romance.

When asked in an interview, Akechi had said that it wouldn't really matter where he went as long as it was with someone precious to him.

That's probably true.

Sumire Yoshizawa (88 words)

She daydreams about shoujo manga situations: she adores the concept of a meet cute. Whenever she gets the time to pick up manga from the store, she thinks about brushing hands with that special someone and meeting their eyes—sparks flying from just a first encounter.

If she had to pick her favorite trope, it would have to be caring for someone while they're sick. Unfortunately, Sumire's gymnastics make her wary of getting sick, but maybe one day she'll be able to fulfill that fantasy of being doted upon.

Morgana (40 words)

Sushi and Ann would probably send him straight to heaven.

Once he accepts that he's a cat, he mostly just dreams of sushi now.

He asked Ren if he should try to find a cat wife. Ren suggested neutering him.

Funniest part about Persona 5 is how Akechi and Joker have this secret love affair while the rest of his friends hate Akechi's guts and only find out at the very last second they even speak.

the phantom thieves had their eyes on you from the very start, when it were just ren, ryuji and ann! even back then, you had already captured their attention and would slowly make them fall in love with you as the months passed by

you were more of a loner yourself, which was why you were always kind to the three of them. ren and ryuji were unjustifiably labeled as delinquents, while you knew all the rumors about ann were unfounded!

your kindness was what made the three of you fall in love with you and they always tried to find time for you, even when they were busy as the phantom thieves!

as yusuke and makoto joined the phantom thieves, it didn't take long for them to get to know you too! after all, ann, ryuji and ren wouldn't shut up about you, so they already heard a lot about you, before they finally met you

yusuke was drawn to you immediately, mesmerized by your beauty, both inside and outside

meanwhile makoto was a little more reluctant, unable to see what the others saw in you at first. but that would soon change…

by the time futaba and haru completed the phantom thieves, the love triangle situation had gotten even more complicated

for futaba, you were the one person outside of the phantom thieves that she got along with, leading to her growing attached to you and falling for you, just like her friends had!

and for haru you were a great support as well, during the difficult time after her father's death. so much so that seeing how kind you were finally opened makoto's eyes too to how special you truly were

despite all of the phantom thieves having fallen in love with you, there was barely any jealousy between them! sure, each one of them wanted to end up with you, but their main concern was your happiness! if anyone deserved to be happy, it was you…

so instead of fighting amongst each other, the phantom thieves worked together to protect you and make you happy wherever they could! you might not even notice it most of the time, but they always kept an eye out for you, taking care or anything that could threaten to trouble you…

it also made it hard for other people to approach you, as you essentially had an entire group of bodyguards constantly around you. only that you never realized how this looked from the outside and just saw this as friends hanging out together!

perhaps you were a little too oblivious at times, as you didn't even seem to realize how madly in love they all were with you. but none of the phantom thieves wanted to confess to you, as they were all happy with the way things were. as long as they got to keep you in their lives, they were content!

currently replaying royal for the millionth time because I'm doing builds inspired by the goats Elly, Ulala, Maya, Eikichi, Tatsuya, and Naoya's personas, but ANYWAYS, I'm curious... what changes did any of you wish royal made? I have a few, but I shall save you all from the boredom

touching hot stoves with your lover is very romantic like yesss we both can smell our flesh and we are burnt together 😍 they'd burn themselves on a hot stove while Elly talks about paranormal shit. also, the conversation she has with comatose Maki in the hospital room is the most autistic shit I've ever heard, to me at least, and it's relatable, even her conversation with Naoya in the lost forest, you know, the way she talks and she wonders if he finds the way she's currently speaking (informal) to be weird, and if he says no, she's quite relieved and continues to speak informal as she sees speaking formal all the time stifling (AND HER INTEREST IN THE OCCULT AND SHIT, AN AUTISTIC ICON!)

I don't think I really ship Ren and Akechi (atp idk anymore), I just find their dynamic interesting and I like it quite a bit, it's also hilarious to make shitposts about it, though I do love the fanart people make of them..

Types of Phantom Thief Outfits

Oftentimes when someone genderbends one of the male Phantom Thieves, their Thief outfit is always redone to include a skirt. This is something I always found strange, considering the fact that none of the girls wear skirts as part of their Thief outfit. In fact, with P5X introducing a truckload of new Phantom Thieves, I realized that the lack of skirts and dresses almost seems to be a rule when it comes to the designs, as NONE of the new characters wear skirts.

So, because of that, I wanted to break down the kinds of outfits the Thieves actually wear, from most common to least common.

The most common type of outfit the Thieves wear is a one-piece. While most of these are skintight bodysuits (Oracle, Puppet, Panther, Queen, etc), there's also jumpers (Fox), and rompers (Riddle). These outfits can include modifications and additional parts (Skull's vest and Moko's cape) but ultimately the main outfit is one article of clothing.

Next up is long pants. The second most popular category, it is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. All these characters where a typical ensemble of long pants and a shirt, with a variety of different styles and accessories to keep things from becoming boring.

After long pants are shorts. Notably, there are only women in this category, while the previous categories had a mix. These shorts can be worn with or without leggings, with Sophia's outfit getting the closest to something that could be considered a dress, due to how short her shorts are and the fit of her shirt. If the character is not wearing leggings or tights, they seem to instead be put in long socks.

Now we enter into the smaller categories. Only two characters are in the poofy pants category, but I thought it was worth pointing out. Not too much to say here. Both poofy pants characters have their entire body covered, with boots or leggings going right up to the end of the pants.

Finally, we're in the singular character categories. Bui gets the closest to a skirt or dress, even closer than Sophia. However, because of the way her outfit is designed, it appears as if she's wearing a long shirt with leggings, rather than a really short dress. Worth noting, though, due to the fact that it is one of the few outfits that could be argued to be a dress.

Finally, Wonder gets his own slot, because I genuinely can't tell what he's wearing. Is that a bodysuit with leggings? Shorts with leggings? Where does his cape end and his under outfit begin? Who knows. So he gets his own category.

there were lingering feelings between the phantom thieves all along, but with each member joining the team, those feelings only got more complicated!

shortly after haru joined the phantom thieves, the first pairs were starting to build. ryuji and ann were first, shortly followed by ren and makoto, as well as futaba and yusuke!

but those pairings weren't the only ones! slowly, some secret pairs started to build, with only the people involved knowing about it. ryuji didn't stay ann's only boyfriend, as she soon started dating yusuke too! at the same time, haru started dating makoto as well, while ren and ryuji became a couple too

given those connections, it was impossible to keep it a secret forever! and soon, the phantom thieves all had a talk with each other, deciding to open up their relationship further and have everyone date each other!

the most affectionate ones out of all are ann and haru! haru loves to cuddle with everyone, while ann shows her softer side only when she has time alone with you

ren and makoto are the protective ones, always keeping an eye on everyone! whether it's in the metaverse or at school, they always have your back!

ryuji and futaba are not only the biggest teases out of all phantom thieves, but they also love to gaming dates with each other, often inviting you and ren along as well!

meanwhile, haru and yusuke take you on fancy dates! they have an acquired taste and help you broaden your horizon, by introducing you to fancy food and extraordinary art!

while there is no jealousy between all of you, it does occasionally happen that one of you gets flirted with by a stranger! especially ann, haru and you are affected by that the most! it doesn't help that those two are the most jealous ones as well…

May I ask for the Phantom Thieves trying to help reader that deals with hikikomori? Reader is very persistent about not needing help, saying they're actually "just fine" and totally isn't slowly losing their mind, and they definitely not having existential dread. In all honesty, reader just really needs help and doesn't want to give people the satisfaction that they're all actually right.

First of all, the fact the Phantom Thieves know reader/reader is in contact with anyone from the Phantom Thieves is a miracle considering they’re a hikikomori

But aside that, no matter how they’re able to socialize with the phantom thieves…

The first thing the Phantom Thieves are checking is if you have a palace at all, similar to Futaba. Or perhaps you’re somewhere in Mementos

If you do, that’s their priority.

Though, regardless of if you do or don’t, one of or a few of them will come in to check on you. Whether by visiting, sending a message, or dropping off a small gift.

They’re doing everything in their ability to help you, even if you may not like it

Futaba emphasizes with you the most, as for a time she herself was a bit of a hikikomori for a while before the rest of the Phantom Thieves found her

Ryuji likes to bring you snacks and talk about different restaurants you should try! Mostly his favorites. He’s offering to treat you!

Yusuke and Ann like to talk about places to sightsee, even bringing in magazines to show you! 

Makoto, Ann, and sometimes even Haru like to plan trips with you if you’re interested!

Haru takes you to at least come out and garden with her, since that seems more calming and not exactly social

Ren and Futaba both offer to go out with you if you finally decide to leave your room/house

They and the rest of the Phantom Thieves WILL be your bodyguards, being wary of people but also of how you’re doing around others

No matter how stubborn you may be, the Phantom Thieves will take the time for you to help you come out and be with them, and perhaps the rest of the world again. It’s a slow process, but a process they’re willing to help you go through.

Joker, aka Ren Amamiya, from Persona 5 Royal is both bisexual and in a polyamorous relationship with Makoto Niijima & Goro Akechi, and NOBODY can convince me otherwise!

Specifically, regarding the game's official romance options I've personally always chosen to have Joker date Makoto due to the two's adorable chemistry together. At the same time however, Joker's rivalry with Akechi is so unambiguously queer-coded and filled with so much homoerotic tension that the two's hangouts during Akechi's overhauled confidant line in the Royal edition feel like honest-to-goodness dates!

Essentially, I can't help but headcannon Joker as dating BOTH Makoto & Akechi during my playthroughs of P5R!

I mean... if Wolverine, Cyclops & Jean Grey could pull a similar dynamic during the Krakoa era of X-Men, why can't Joker, Makoto & Akechi?
