i made a very generalized post awhile back with random resources but i wanna make a more specific one so:

Osiyo.tv is a GREAT resource for Cherokee history, language, and people. They have specific sections for interviews with Cherokee athletes, artists, foragers, leaders, national treasures, and women. Their full episodes also include some general news stories as well. The full episodes are really nice or even just the individual interviews and it makes for good background videos while you're working on stuff.

The Cherokee Phoenix newspaper is available online. It's literally a newspaper. It has newspaper and news website things.

This is a playlist for learning Cherokee. It's exactly that. Similarly, here is the Visit Cherokee Nation youtube channel which has just a ton of misc videos including also a lot of language stuff. Visit Cherokee Nation website also has a lot of stuff and links to other things, like events or historical landmarks.

Also, Cherokee Nation website. it's literally the official government website. It similarly has a ton of links and misc general information and news and such.

My friend also recommends taking a look at the National Museum of the American Indian's gallery, which shows a bunch of historic depictions of Native Americans particularly including in advertising and some brief history overviews. It's one good way to familiarize yourself with some examples of caricatures and offensive stereotypes commonly used surrounding Native Americans, which is very important if you're drawing an indigenous character so you know what to avoid.

I am assigning these as required reading for Piper stuff. Gonna write Piper? At least skim these. Just take a quick looksie. Okay? okay. Good. Also remember that you can always just look stuff up.

-What is this AU?

Noli Timere is a psychological-based horror comic/manga centered around the relationships between the Beasts and Ancient Cookies, and how their actions affects the Kingdom as a whole. The Ancients are only trying to help the Beasts to change into what is called ‘good’, but they don’t see it that way, literally and figuratively….

-Who will be involved in the story?

Characters such as the Beast Cookies and Ancient Cookies will be involved. It also opens up to White Lily Cookie’s story arc as one of the main protagonists. Other side characters such as the Legendary Cookies, Super Epics, Epics, Rare and Common Cookies will play a part in different chapters.

-What does ‘Noli Timere’ even mean?

It means ‘Do Not Be Afraid’ translated from Latin. I just think it’s neat.

-When will this AU be updated?

Literally whenever I finish it, which will happen at random as I’m working on a FNAF animation project at the same time. Most of the time it’ll be at 6 am/pm Asian time.

-When does this AU take place?

Shortly before Golden Cheese’s demise.

Alright guys,,, I have to make a serious post for once,, whomp whomp but I really do have to. I can’t ignore this.

So I received an link to a post in my ask box, and what the post is basically saying is that I am a trans fetishist for drawing my P1 doe with body hair and muscles. Not a fun thing to hear as a trans person, and especially not fun to hear as a non-passing trans person. 

I will not link that post or blog because I do not want that person to be harassed, if you do find them please DO NOT send them anything. I really don’t want people to get involved in petty online discourse. It’s not fun to experience nor look at.

These are the examples this person used (reposting my art without permission) to show that I’m being weird about trans women. This person used an April Fools joke drawing as one of the examples. The April fools drawing is heavily inaccurate to how P1 looks. I can’t believe someone would prefer those drawings over an actual attempt at a design for a woman P1 (trans or cis). But hey, if someone wants to draw anime girl P1, then you do you! 

Now, about my design for P1 doe (I also call her Postal 1 Lady fyi)….

Exaggerate masculine traits…..? Look, I try my best to make P1 lady look similar to her male counterpart, because they are the same person, just through different times in life. They’re going to have the same body type. In most of my P1 lady drawings, I imagine she’s around the beginning of her transition into womanhood, so she’s obviously not going to pass right away (I also think she would be a bit nervous to fully commit to transitioning). She can’t afford surgeries or hormone replacement therapy, and I don’t think she has to medically transition in order to be considered a women. Sorry for not drawing her super hyper feminine, but I really don’t think she would constantly dress or look that feminine. She’s allowed to wear jeans, and be hairy, and have strong arms. This person did say that it’s ok to draw women who are trans that fit some of these traits, but then bashes me for drawing a women that doesn’t fit into the binary. It’s fine to draw women that doesn’t fit the “perfect” image of a women in theory, but actually drawing a lady with traits that don’t fit the idealized version of what a woman “should be” is apparently wrong. Let me draw someone that doesn’t 100% pass. Let me draw people that don’t fit the box of what that gender holds. Let me draw a human being that expresses themself differently than others of the same group. Let me draw myself and other people like me please. Also,, side note,,, for the love of everything, cis women can also be hairy and tall and muscular and stuff like that, I’m saying this to tell you that WOMEN can look like ANYTHING. MEN can look like ANYTHING. A PERSON OF ANY GENDER could look like ANYTHING. We all look so different from each other and that’s amazing, so lets also draw different people as well? Thanks. (I think this person would die if they saw a butch trans women.)

Yes, I have drawn odd art of Postal 1 dude. My bad, my liege. I love being policed on what to draw by a proshipper. Ain’t that wonderful /vsarc… I want you to know that I have also drawn art of P1 dude in skirts that are way less peculiar. Some of them are old, but I promise you I am not constantly being gay for this guy (as in not being a freak). I’ve probably drawn way more art of P1 being queer around guns than drawing him in pretty dresses. I would absolutely prefer to be called a gun fetishist than a trans fetishist because at least it would somewhat be correct.🫤 But this isn’t about that.

Anyways, cis people will hate us all equally, let’s not be so crazy about the boxes they built for us. Thanks folks. A little background on Crash and Conquer

On 2 March @houserautha wrote a blog that got to me, hard. On how she felt the Feyd Fandom was winding down to fall asleep. How she was struggling with getting interaction - a form of communication that is absolutely key in keeping a fandom alive, having works be created. In the end, it is all about creating that collective head canon, and you cannot do that by yourself. It is a collective and collaborative effort.

Her blog resonated. And I was like: fuck no, and fuck yes!

So, we came to our joint idea of pushing initiatives to put some fire back into our collective love for this fine and feral gentleman.

A week and a day later, we posted our first chapter of Crash and Conquer!

Now, we have started working already on chapter 8!

And I can't help but feel proud, proud of how our little group of creative bloggers comes together every week to create something that is not there yet. How we work together, not knowing each others names, not speaking, not even knowing which countries we all come from. All volunteers, all communicating through google docs, discord and tumblr. Yet, here we are, making something together, each and every one committed to a result. Joint in our feralness for Feyd.

None of the 7 chapters has been written by just one person: at least 2, more often 3 and in some situations even 6 (!) people have written. We work jointly, and I am getting 100% amazing positive vibes. Everybody is so positive, communicates on availability, tries to help even if there is not much time in a busy offline life. And, as a group, we have managed to publish something every Monday evening (CET) over the last 7 weeks. That is like... some serious volunteer shit, I can tell you from experience. That is amazing stuff!

Another thing I cannot help but see, is how I have the feeling our fandom is getting more alive. More interactive. More creative. I am seeing so many great stories being prepared. People getting recognition. Many shares, many comments.

Is it our doing? I don't know, but I know we will in any case not have hindered it.

Fandom Friday, 04/25: Fanfiction!

Hello and good morning to you all, and welcome once again to another Fandom Friday. As always, this is your host Coffeelorian or if you prefer, just plain Coffee, back with another round of fanfiction from around the vast fandom that is Star Wars.

Before we begin, however, I would like to say that I've changed the order of things around just a little for this, specifically by raising the amount of included links upwards from 10, as well as changing the format around to better fit the new limit AND hopefully increase user engagement besides. It's been feeling a little quiet around here, after all, so maybe this can be the first step to change it!

Second, a few little birds told me that today is the 20th anniversary of the release of "Revenge Of The Sith", so! Mephiles the Mind, Iblis the Heart

Basically a breakdown of how I interpreted 06 but also a foundation I use for all my AUs.

Mephiles is highly intelligent and apathetic while Iblis relies on emotion and is more like a wild animal. Mephiles does not have full access to Solaris' time powers, but Iblis does. However, Iblis does not have the mental capacity to actually use them.

Things that are less “interpretive” and more “theory”:

This is why Iblis needed a powerful emotion to be released

In the original timeline, the one which led to Silver’s future, it was Elise’s death which released Iblis. Because the seal was broken improperly, Mephiles could not recombine with Iblis. Therefore, he would need to look for a different way, but he can’t with Sonic being there and being an obstacle (not while Mephiles is still weak). Hence why he brought in Silver—a powerful hedgehog determined to save his future no matter the cost—who is also a completely new factor to change the timeline. Silver would keep Sonic busy while Mephiles figured out how to properly release Iblis… Since letting her die didn’t work last time. When Silver began figuring out the charade, Mephiles didn’t care enough to try hard with his manipulations, especially if it meant Silver would help keep Elise alive. However, once Mephiles realized the way to release Iblis was via an extreme emotion from Elise well… how convenient that the Princess grew attached to a certain blue hedgehog. Turns out killing Sonic really was the key all along. And if you want something done right… you gotta do it yourself.

Essentially (to explain Mephiles’ weird planning in canon), Mephiles did not know the seal was reliant on Elise’s emotions in the beginning, so he sends Silver to distract Sonic while he figures out how to actually free his other half. How ironic that killing Sonic is indeed what needs to happen. Mephiles basically has a “wait, it’s actually that simple?” moment

The strong emotion can be anything—grief, anger, joy, fear—it just has to be strong. Like a “consuming your mind” kind of strong.

The original explosion which killed Elise was too sudden for any strong emotion to pop up. (Even in her last moments, she had faith Sonic would save her.)

Mephiles is the mind while Iblis is the heart. Only once combined does Mephiles—or Solaris now—actually feel feelings. However, Solaris is still adjusting after the disoriented episode of being literally split in two and so acts completely on his anger toward mortals for taking advantage of him.

At the end of 06, Solaris isn’t destroyed but rather is scattered/subdued, and everyone will already be long gone by the time Solaris’ pieces are reunited. Like “after Dark Gaia and Light Gaia have restarted the planet” kind of long time. They are gods after all. Time is different for them.

The rest of this is sparked from my “Trinity Gods” fanon. Aka, Gaia, the Master Emerald, and Solaris are the three gods who created Earth, as well as any planets prior to Earth. The Master Emerald is also called “Mother Chaos”.

While Gaia slumbers, Mother Chaos and Solaris watch over the planet to protect it. During Earth’s creation, Mother Chaos took on a physical form (ie. The Master Emerald) to live on Earth amongst its creatures. Curious about all Mother Chaos learned whilst living amongst mortals, Solaris decided to also take on a physical form and live amongst them. However, this meant limiting his ability to see the future—or rather which future would come true. Thus, Solaris did not see what the humans planned on doing with him until it was too late.

Gaia and Mother Chaos are A-Okay with Solaris destroying the planet. I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time one of them has, after all. It’d be a bummer for it to end so soon, but they can just make another one. It’s because of this that they don’t interfere with Solaris’ plot… as well as the fact that their creations had hurt their friend.

It’s also this familiarity that means the Chaos Emeralds will so easily obey Mephiles. Doesn’t matter who posses them or if they’re on the other side of the planet, if the gods call, they answer.

Since you have a lot of opinions about Sunflower fics, do you have any recommendations :p? I do generally agree with you about the derth of good works on them - kind of hoping for something I've maybe slept on.

Okay, I'll try,

First of all — I want everyone, and I mean everyone to read Coda for a Crestfallen Caitiff by MercuriallyApathetic, who also wrote The Strange Summer of Sunny Whatshisface (still one of my favorite longfics to this day but a lot more lighthearted). Coda is a masterpiece, it makes me insane, it is criminally underrated, I want to inhale its essence, and when I first read it it gave me a panic attack and a mental breakdown that lasted three straight days (/pos). Definitely read the tags and prepare yourself mentally but JESUS CHRIST I need everyone to read it. Please. You will regret it for a few hours but it is... an experience. To me at least. And to the two people I recommended it to who gave me feedback.

Then there's sunflower seeds in the rearview mirror by @andrewwtca which remains probably my favorite multichapter OMORI fic of all time (you might spot my essay-comments in the later chapters, I love this fic so much. I didn't end up writing one for the last chapter but man did it hit me hard). Very intriguing with a captivating style and an unreliable narrator mechanic that I am absolutely in love with. Everything by that author is excellent.

We have, of course, literally everything by BetweenDisorders. Arsenic is partly inspired by one of their fics ! (you know the one.) Their characterization of both Sunny and Basil (but especially Basil, because I'm gay) makes me froth at the mouth. Their style is very recognizable and honestly one of the best I've ever seen. But more generally, they have really original and intriguing ideas (like communication, in which Basil and Sunny are two computers... Did I mention how I'm a sucker for original/unique plots and premises enough yet) and everything they do is something you've never seen before. It's amazing.

Note to Self: Don't Be Gay in Faraway Town by witheredahlia is also very, very good. It's a lot lighter, but it still made my gay little heart ache, because I'm a sucker for misunderstandings done correctly (fight me).

Detective Sunny by Det_Sun is genuinely one of the most creative, fascinating OMORI fics I've seen, and also way too underrated. It's an excellent read, and there's a bunch of ideas in it that you know go deeper than what is shown, and it makes my brain go at the speed of light. Many many thoughts about this one. (Side note: I fucking love it when there's unexplored ideas in fics. Makes my brain go brrr. Not everything has to be shown and when I see hints of "behind the scene" thoughts and character background that isn't discussed much but still implied, my brain becomes a feral animal. I don't know if that makes sense...)

Just finished reading pez dispenser debris.

Firstly: crying, screaming, throwing up, ball’s to the wall insane. I am taking this fic between my teeth and shaking it furiously like a dog with its favorite toy. I am running circles in my enclosure just to bleed off some of the emotions this experience has given me.

Secondly: this fic is heart wrenching. All of the things I would’ve wished had been addressed in canon content of BNHA. How does Horikoshi throw away one of the biggest points that enraptures the audience into caring about Izuku? How does the narrative seemingly forget the entire reason he was so fervent in chasing his dream as a hero? I think this is one of the biggest gripes I have about the series, and it’s the one that’s only ever been remedied by amazing fic writers like you.

How do you face the part of yourself you’ve seemingly buried and forgotten? How do you come to terms with the fact that horrible things happened to you by no fault of your own? What’s the fallout of realizing that the people who should’ve cared and protected you might’ve also been hurting you all along?

Where do you even begin in this entire mess?

A part of me, despite the fantastical elements of the medium itself, feels so incredibly seen by this. It’s incredibly difficult, making amends with the part of yourself that was so deeply hurt in the past. It’s a part of life, i think, to learn to walk beside that part of you, to lay it to rest and acknowledge that it will always be there. Izuku, of course, has done none of this, and in this lies the crutch of the matter that’s the center of this fic. I’m happy I stumbled across this fic, even though I haven’t consumed BNHA content in years.

That being said, do you allow any works inspired by your own? I need to put down some of the emotional toll this fic has done to me on paper. Apologies for the ramble, i am just really passionate about this fic. Hope to see more of your work in the future!
