oh, hi! look here again-
So I've had this question in my head for days and decided to ask
because my brain couldn't take it anymore
so your modern teachers au was the first fanfic and because of it I met you and this chase young and first ninja ship
so I would like to ask
Do you intend to bring more fanfics in this universe? and maybe if you could you could give some curiosities about the au
of the other characters who were? wuya, daishi
jack spicer (this one in particular since I love jackie boy), nomi
(from the pragagonistas if you want too.)
and a question that I really have - Hannibal Roy Bean
and the wizard and the sorceress exist in this au? If so, what are they?
I have to admit that I may have once imagined Hannibal as a crime figure but I realized that it didn't make much sense.....
well that's it! I hope you are having a pleasant day when you see this
If not- get better!
XOXOXO! 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
Oh, but it makes me blush, that your first introduction to My Immortal Soul was Mentors AU! This AU is kinda of my selfish indulgence AU (like most AUs are lol), but it makes me happy you liked it enough to check out the rest of my stuff! Thank you. 🤗❤️
There are actually a few fics that I sorta planned out for this AU. 😌😌 There are around 2-3 stand alone one-shot ideas in the same universe, loosely following Chase and Norisugi's relationship. One of them is about some students following them on their 'date' outing! 😁 Basically a fun 'Randy and Xiaolin Monks + some others spying on their teachers' idea, haha. ;) The other ideas are addressing both of their pasts and how it affects their current relationship with each other.
No idea when I'll write those out, tho! I'm in a bit of writing block right now sadly. 😴 😭 But I will gladly share some headcanons/backstories for some characters, since you asked so nicely! ❤️
Wuya & Dashi - they are both Professors in the same University, with Wuya teaching Business Analytics and Dashi being a Workshop Instructor (specifically Restoration and Preservation of Artifacts Workshop which would explain his connection with Chase, since they are both in Archeology/History business of sort) and as I hinted in the fic: they have a past relationship with each other! Their current relationship status is complicated, but they have separated and gotten back together on multiple occasions. They often behave like mortal enemies on campus (mostly from Wuya who behaves like she despises Dashi at times), so a lot of students are often confused if they are fighting or flirting, considering Dashi's non-confrontational and cheery/flirty personality. Amongst their mutual friends (like Chase), they just behave like an old gossipy married couple, haha.
Jack Spicer - Jack is a student at the Uni, an undergraduate in Business department and a Teaching Assistant to Prof. Wuya, but its actually not by his own choice! Since Jack is a genius in many aspects, Uni is pretty easy for him and originally he planned to fast track through fields that are of interest to him, like engineering and connected fields, but his parents interfered. His father said that the only way Jack can pursue his own interest in engineering is to also get a degree in business first (for the sake of family business), and since he had connection in Uni and with Wuya, he ensured that Jack did not slack off and that Wuya kept an eye on him. Ironically enough, through Wuya, Jack met Dashi and through his workshop he burnt a lot of his engineering/creative energy, which made him interested in artifact restoration and archaeology and all the tech that is involved in it. In a way, Dashi became his mentor, along with Wuya. (Yes, sue me but i like my little pseudo family. ;) ) Also! With his new interest in Archaeology, he discovered Chase Young and became a fan of him, because he is like a real life Indiana Jones but cooler and more handsome, lol. Because of that he really wants to become Chase's TA, but because of his father's and Wuya's agreement, it won't happen. Aside from that, Chase also never wanted any assistants.
NinjaNomicon - Nomi became an orphan around their late teens, but through sheer determination and will, they reached great heights in their academic pursuits. So much so, that they managed to send themselves overseas from Japan to study in a good University. However after arriving, they felt a bit overwhelmed, which caused some discontent in their life, as they tried to find some direction. After first year of Uni, they realized that they had trouble feeling passionate about subjects and choosing their majors and classes. One of the Professors, Norisugi, noticed their struggle and suggested a Mentor/Mentee programme, and his own help. Their shared land of origin and Norisugi's understanding of Nomi's struggles really helped Nomi find their course and balance and allowed the two of them to become very close, to the point that after finishing Undergraduate courses, Nomi asked if they could become Norisugi's TA, while they finished their Master's degree.
Hannibal Roy Bean - one of the fic ideas i had was actually related to Chase's past and how Roy was involved with it. So, since I don't want to spoil the (very) possible future fic, I will just say that Hannibal Roy Bean? Definitely not a good person in this universe. But he held a position of authority/mentorship in Chase's past, and they had a relationship that soured, thanks to the fact that Roy is an evil bastard, lol.
Sorcerer & Sorceress - like with Roy, both of them were part of Norisugi's past, though it is much less fleshed out in what capacity. But I can say for certain that whatever their relationship with Norisugi was, and their actions, caused him to leave his family back in Japan and move all alone to America, to where his best friend Plop Plop was. So it's safe to say, that they were not great people either. ;) (Why, yes, I have a little bit of angsty ideas for my boys' pasts lol).
And that's about it.
#ninja showdown#my immortal soul#Mentors AU#thank you so much for the ask!!!#ngl i feel a little bit shy and awkward sharing aus but i really really appreciate an ask from someone who is interested in it#i desperately wish to get over this damnd writer's block uuuuugggghhhh i wanna write my silly au fics so baaadllyyyyyy

Lol no stress! Haven't met a lot of people outside of the community who play Total Warhammer.
Miao Ying is the oldest of three children and ruler of Imperial Cathay. She is an immortal Cathayan dragon (yes, ahe can actually transform) and is a powerful wizard to boot. Specifically she is the Storm Dragon.
She is constantly described as cold and aloof, but that is only because of the responsibility on her shoulders.
Her siblings are all jealous of her in some way, which she doesn't really take kindly to, My siblings resent me, "Thinking me favoured for I am the eldest. They envy my station. They are wrong! I am cursed with responsibility, the ultimate responsibility...Should I fail and the Bastion falls, then Cathay is doomed and they will be jealous of nothing but a wasteland!"
She is basically seen as a pompous asshole to those around her but it is because of her that the people are even still alive to think that lol.
There is a lot more to her but that about covers what I think is important for what my next ask will be (breaking this up, have to get back to work lol).
Oh, here's her dragon form!

Ohhh, so Miao Ying is basically the overworked eldest sibling™ who has to keep everything together while her younger siblings complain about her being the “favorite,” even though she’s carrying all the responsibility. That sounds stressful as hell—no wonder she comes off as cold and aloof.
Honestly, I respect characters like this. She sounds like someone who doesn’t have the luxury of being soft because if she screws up, everyone dies. The line about her siblings being jealous of nothing but a wasteland? Oof. That hits. It’s one of those “You think I’m lucky? I’d trade places with you in a heartbeat” kind of things.
Also, she’s an immortal dragon sorceress? Yeah, that’s badass. I imagine that makes her even more intimidating—like, not only is she ruling, but she can literally turn into a dragon and smite things with magic.
She honestly sounds like the kind of character people either love or completely misunderstand, which makes her even more interesting.
Also, her dragon form is so cool!!

💜ALL ABOUT YOUR TAV / DURGE AND THEIR ROMANTIC INTEREST💜

Your tav or durge’s name and their partner:
Emmy & Gale 💜
Tell us about your character - anything at all!
Well, I named her after me, but she’s only sort of a self-insert. A lot of her traits I do not have. She’s musically inclined, talkative, never shy or nervous, and doesn’t always think before she speaks 🤣
Her bio dad? Gortash. Though neither of them know until it’s too late (read my fanfic if you wanna know more lol)
What do they enjoy doing together?:
Drinking tea on the balcony, going for walks outside with their baby in the stroller, cooking together, and looking at the stars! They also enjoy reading on the couch together while the baby sleeps.
What is something your character’s partner loves about them?:
Gale loves that Emmy is weird, funny, loud, and clumsy 🤣 He also appreciates her charisma and ability to start the conversation when it comes to being in a group. While Gale loves to talk, he is unsure on how to start conversations in a group.
Their life after Baldur’s Gate?:
They got married and live in Gale’s tower. She gardens and sells fruits and vegetables at the market while he teaches at Blackstaff. They have a baby girl, who is roughly 5 months old but she can no longer age due to her immortality (if you want to know the full story, she was born with a powerful strand of the Weave. In my fanfic, the Weave she contains is enough to destroy a devil, in this case, Raphael. He stole the Crown of Kara’s from Mystra and the only way to destroy it is by using the Weave. In exchange for the baby’s power, they gave her immortality. Emmy and Gale then sell their souls to become immortal so she won’t ever be without them).
Something your Tav / Durge loves about their partner:
She loves that Gale is so intelligent, occasionally awkward, brutally honest, and very sweet. She knows he would do anything for her and that makes her heart melt 🥹
Something that your character and their partner both hate (about anything):
•They both hate goblins of course. Not just how irritating and cruel they are, but how bad they smell.
•They do not like evil. At all.
•Gale has learned to hate ambition and is appreciating the comforting life at home.
•They hate it when strangers try to touch their baby without consent but that’s a given. You know how random strangers are.
•They HATE beer
•The never ending cycle of washing dirty clothes and diapers. Now that they’re immortal, it never ends. Ever. Laundry is especially loathed, just because nobody enjoys doing it, especially if you own over 20 wizard robes.

Hey shall, what's your favourite/fun headcanons on why cas keeps getting resurrected at first I tought it was cause god/chuck liked him (like remember when ppl in the destiel fandom talked about how chuck ships them... good times) Then yea, that just didn't turn out to be true lol
Ohh, this is fun. I have some nice uplifting ones and one very evil one. I could probably come up with a ton of these, and I'm not feeling super eloquent this week, but have my mental popcorn instead:
CHUCK/NETWORK NEEDED CAS -> Popularity ...and it bit Chuck in the ass because he accidentally allowed Cas to grow more and more powerful, even when he (and the writers) worked so hard to weaken him and kill him off. I don't have the exact quotes, but I know there are numerous instances that imply the writers worked hard to weaken Cas.
When the writers have to work to make Cas weaker, and to make Dean and Sam stronger, it shows that Cas is the bigger threat, in terms of cosmic power.
Emotional consequences: Because Cas is important to Dean, Cas is often resurrected specifically because Dean loses hope without him. After his first death, Cas literarily functions as The Lost Husband/The Animal Bridegroom/The Artificial Husband for Dean specifically. Unlike characters like Sam's Amelia (season 8), Dean is obsessed with clinging to his loved ones, saying to CAS: "I did not leave you!" and to NAOMI through CAS: "Take it! But you're gonna have to kill me first. Come on, you coward. Do it. Do it!" In his insistance to look for Cas in Purgatory and keep not giving up on Cas, he sets himself apart from his many mirrors. He's a lot like the human consort in many of the “supernatural spouse” tales, brave and insistent in his trials, even when death separates him from his lover. NOTE: Amelia Novak also becomes a heroine in this regard when she decided to go looking for her "lost husband," Jimmy Novak but becoming ensnared and dies in season 10. ANYWAY, Dean and Cas tend to die when the other isn't around, and they both get so depressed it makes for pretty abysmal watching. Chuck doesn't like Cas, but he needs Cas because Dean needs Cas. Dean won't behave unless he has Cas with him. DEAN from 13x03: "This life, hunting, monsters, there’s no joy in it. There’s nothing but pain, horror and death." And DEAN from 13x05: BILLIE: Maybe you’re not that guy anymore, they guy who saves the world, the guy who always thinks he’ll win no matter what. You have changed. And you tell people it’s not a big deal. You tell people you’ll work through it but you know you won’t, you can’t and that scares the hell out of you. Or… am I wrong? DEAN: What do you want me to say? Doesn’t matter. I don’t matter.
///
TETHERED TO A BROTHER or TWIN -> Functions as a thrown lifeline; i.e. one shield must fall before the other can
Not Cas-specific, but so long as your "tethered" twin is alive you cannot die. We see this with Amara and Chuck, that taking out Chuck requires killing Amara. This appears often in SPN, like with Charlie and There's No Place Like Home and the Wizard. It makes you wonder if Michael and Lucifer are similar. If you squint, Chuck does not seem able to kill Michael in 15x19 until after Lucifer has been killed. Makes you wonder if that was his intent on having them kill each other all along. That by having one kill the other, he could finally take out the son-rivals, as in the style of archetypical God-father who, because of their immortality, sees sons as threat to power. So what does that mean for Cas? Not sure, but he could be tethered to an angel that's still living. Maybe jack himself? (Or Dean's soul, for that matter.) It's assumed that Jack wakes up Cas, but there's juicy potential for it to have been Dean doing it all along, something Jack tapped into when Dean was screaming in grief during the Sam fight: DEAN: He manipulated him, he made him promises, said, ‘paradise on earth’ and Cas bought it and you know what that got him? It got him dead! Now you might be able to forget about that, but I can’t! [JACK looks distressed outside the room.] JACK: Castiel. [JACK’S eyes glow gold.]
///
MANY OF CHUCK'S REBELLIOUS CHILDREN ARE ACTUALLY CURSED TO BE RISING-AND-DYING GODS
As to quote Gabriel, "they are like cancer," he has to eradicate them, as they represent wars of old which are no longer needed. I know the rising-and-dying deity motif is something of a modern configuration, but since it appears in Remember the Titans, you have to wonder if this is a nature intrinsic to Cas himself. As angels are unable to sleep, they are unable to die. From 8x16: ZEUS: Tell me, has Prometheus experienced the child's death yet? [HAYLEY gives a nod.] How did he take it? Did he hurt? [HAYLEY nods again.] Good. ...I never get tired of watching you die. [ZEUS, holding SHANE up, says it right into his ear.] Your boy is going on the mountain. (Interestingly, the mountain forward-references to the episode Moriah.) From 14x08: COSMIC ENTITY: Stop interrupting! Start paying attention. I'm taking him. And where I'm taking you is worse than Hell… because at least Hell is something. Ohh. Ohh, God, they look scared. Does that hurt you? Good… because I want it to. In this interpretation, the Shadow is a higher God, and it has cursed Castiel for helping humanity the same way Prometheus helped humanity. It uses similar linguistics!
///
EVIL CAS/SHADOW MEANING -> God's most trusted double agent
Cas is resurrected by Chuck because he's secretly an intractable agent of Chuck, God's most trusted, analogues to how Ruby was "the best of those sons of bitches." This would take on a Christian overtone, that Chuck and Jack are the same person. Evil interpretation where Cas having been an agent of Fate all along. With this shadow meaning, "Cas helped" from 15x20 becomes especially ominous. But there's also "it's not the bait, it's the fish, I think they're beginning to anticipate me" from 15x06 right after Dean accuses him of being "the something that always goes wrong." There's something eerie in the idea that Chuck and Jack are in fact the same person, and Castiel is loyal to Him above all. "This lie won't hurt them," from Gimme Shelter etc etc. This would make Dean, like Sally in "Last Call" the real symbolic fish. If hunting is recklessness, fishing is patience, and Cas/God/Jack were being patient and fishing Dean's soul all along, baiting him with Love. Cas as a honey trap is a frightening thought, honestly, and although I don't prefer this shadow interpretation, it IS scary if someone wanted to explore it or have Dean simply fear this possibility, you know? Dean has an inherent fear of large powers, like Godstiel, and Jack's power, and he's right to fear it. At the end of the story, Cas and Jack are the only main characters still alive, so there's a real possibility that it is Cas who won the long game, not Chuck.
edit - there’s also cas has a soul theory, that he cannot sleep in the empty the sand way jack becomes aware of heaven in byzantium

Honestly i also wonder why Ozpins name doesn't follow the color naming rule?? It's smth I've always kinda vaguely wondered, but I always figured that it had a simple answer like "Oh, we need Ozpin to stand out because he's the immortal wizard, so he's not gonna fit in with modern naming conventions." And besides, we unfortunately don't know his first name (Miles confirmed in a cameo that Ozpin is his last name, which makes sense) so we don't know if that fits in with typical naming conventions or not.
I don't think there's really an important answer as to why Ozpins name doesn't fit in with the color naming rule, mostly bc I don't think Everyone on Remnant probably fits it (I swear there's an example in rwby, but I don't feel like hunting for it) and also bc of what I said. I don't think 'Ozpin' is a name used by every incarnation either, since I'm like, 90% sure the merge doesn't work like that (based on in-universe proof, and something something soul merge, soul is identity in rwby, so that means change of identity... and also Oz has changed the most... I'm gonna stop here, I have a mountain of thoughts on the merge and I will word vomit abt it so I'm sparing you). Plus I think at some point crwby said he goes by different names each incarnation and doesn't like being called Ozma? Idk take that with a mountain of salt or just ignore it, I found that tidbit of information on a video about the merge and I still need to factcheck it loll.
I think Ozpin might just be meant to stand out, like Salem. And the color naming rule is pretty new (I believe it started during/just before the great war as a form of rebellion)- Oscar fits it himself. Or idk, maybe Ozpin comes from an older family so their last names don't fit the rule, who knows? Could be fun to use that with headcanons. Idk, fun thoughts :3
Sorry for rambling in your inbox as I usually do, I tried to keep it shorter this time 🫡 emphasis on uh. Tried
i doubt there's an in-universe reason for it either at this point. maybe there used to be but it was changed and that little "for reasons" tidbit—which iirc never made it into the show—is all that's left of the idea.
hence my curiosity over it, too, bc i'm a nosy gremlin who likes to know all the show goes through during development lol. for context, the quote comes from the color naming rules monty posted on twitter (thank you wiki for sourcing this stuff) soon after V1 had finished airing, which is why i'm like, okay, something probably changed bc miles confirmed 'ozpin' is his last name many many many years later on his cameo(?) which. also isn't part of the show.
so it's not like none of this really matters when it's not even really part of the canon but, again. i'm a nosy gremlin, and i like to speculate.
and the reason why i think it was changed is exactly bc of that confirmation, since it's not like both of the names need to fit the rule—james ironwood is a perfect example of that, and i'm pretty sure as much was confirmed by the writers at some point—, and it wouldn't really make sense to go "ozpin doesn't fit the rule... for reasons ;)" if his first name was color-based, y'know?
so from there i'm like. okay. the man with two souls was mentioned in V1 as was mentions of ozpin being quite "off" and like "he wasn't even there", so clearly some form of body-hopping reincarnation was part of the plan all along. and when the color rule also has an in-universe reasoning as a post-war expression against limiting arts and such, it makes sense that ozpin's name—if originally meant to be that of the reincarnating one to match with salem in a club of "i only have one name in a show where just about everyone has both first and last name"—wouldn't have fit... assuming the plan was for the reincarnating one, nowadays known as 'ozma', to have eventually used his original name with each reincarnation.
pure speculation of course, but yeah. it's less about what's happening in-universe and what reasons it might have now, and more about the choices made during development and why this might have been something that was eventually dropped for one reason or another.
also like. i don't. really. see how they could bring it back at this point without it being... convoluted? maybe if it was like "ozma only reincarnates into people who don't follow the rule bc reasons / to stand out" but. oscar exists, so that's out, and i don't see any reason to go back and explore why ozpin's name presumably—as we do not know what his first name is—, doesn't follow the rule. like unfortunately to my peace of mind, that's pretty low on the list of important things that need to be addressed. which is a shame, but you win some and you lose some lol

NFCV's version of Devil Forging frustrates me, because the changing it to an art that combines necromancy with alchemy (Animating dead bodies while altering their form into a new creature) isn't exactly a terrible change, cause that sounds exactly like the kind of technique that Dracula would create/teach, given his origin in alchemy and status as an undead wizard. But instead it's just another pointless change, because NFCV completely destroyed those potential connections, since Dracula's backstory is completely different and he no longer has any real connection to Devil Forging like he did in the game.
Yeah, it's one of those changes that I find perfectly neutral, except for a few details.
Changing Forging from an alchemical process to full blown necromancy makes perfect sense, and it's exactly that kind of blasphemous art that would get them shunned from the human world. It's creepy, it's gross, it's utterly disrespectful to the deceased, it defies God's creed. The last part especially would fit our good Dracula "wife dead, i will become an immortal hellish creature to spite god himself" Tepes like a glove lol.
Furthermore, I appreciate the intent to nerf Forgemasters lmao. In the games, they're basically demigods: they only need some stones and gems to forge any creature they want, and there you go. Plus, they're beasts in hand-to-hand combat as well. In the show, they need material, and they need their special tool: without them, they're powerless. Well, they were supposed to be powerless, judging by their S2 stats: we know that Isaac quickly became an untouchable Gary Stu while Hector was kept completely incompetent and even a worse Forgemaster than his colleague :^) but it's a good idea, certainly better than having Sypha be the Avatar just because she's OP in CV3 lol
I also liked the idea of Isaac studying as an adult, while Hector was born a prodigy. The idea could have been that Isaac understood precisely what he was getting into, while Hector was burdened with this terrible power, it's all he knows, and he never thought too deeply about it, hence his cavalier attitude regarding death.
The thing that bothers me the most is that Devil Forging is common in the NFCVverse. Isaac didn't study under Dracula, he just... studied on his own in the desert. Devil Forgemasters have been a thing since forever - St. Germain mentions a book written by one 200 years prior. Vampires know all about Devil Forging. Magic users know all about Devil Forging. And in Nocturne is even worse. It really cheapens this art: magic as powerful and terrible such as necromancy shouldn't be this widespread. I would have accepted the idea of Dracula lying to Hector to hire him if he truly, truly didn't have a better choice, because yeah Hector is not up to mass slaughter and that's an issue but he is the best help he can get. What stopped Dracula from going to, say, Miranda? What, did he avoid Italy? :P
And, personally (although sadly I understand why Ellis wouldn't know about it since it's obscure knowledge), my favorite part of Devil Forging in the games is that Dracula gave part of his power to Hector and Isaac.
The two are intrinsically linked to him now. They are his creations, in a way. They owe their power to him. It's another step towards their dehumanization. Plus, it's a nice reminder that Dracula used to be an alchemist in life: he's passing on his own old knowledge, albeit twisted, to his students.
So you can imagine why the mere idea of a Devil Forging machine feels like an insult :^)

An Introduction to Ivilia NPCs
(aka this is the master post for my silly little ocs)
I'm going to put most of this under a read more just because there will be pictures and I wouldn't wanna clog up y'all's feeds with the sheer amount of stuff.
I'll make a small list of characters I really want to get into, at least so that I can remember to talk more about them myself aha.
In this post you'll find information about:
-Magnus and Magan Deyvet
-Lockeland, Kitril, and Cedith Puckett
-Lucien Ancrum and Milo Ancrum-Buckley
-Helios the Bard
-Christopher and Loulouche Sunsinger
-Raiden the Wanderer
-Ghost
-Knox Odikonn the Mad Wizard
-The Glazastov Family
Continue reading at your own risk I suppose?
Okay so. Starting off strong with the twins.
Magnus Deyvet
Pronouns: he/him
An asshole to put it plainly. This little rat bastard will ruin your day he's such a a little shit oh my god. He used to be worse but I can apparently Not Make Sympathetic Villains so I'm just sitting here with a kind mean little bastard boy who's also immortal and can't stay dead so yeah that's fun! He's old and tired and wants to be left alone kinda sorta but he also wants to be in everyone's business. How dare you NOT let him be in your business you MUST tell him all the things. An aggressively gay little man. Absolutely can and will bite. Also he's a changeling so he can shapeshift too and that's cool I guess. Did I say who awful he is
Magan Deyvet
Pronouns: he/she/they
My silly little BLORBO. He is my little bean my precious dogboy the BEST EVER. NOTHING like their brother nope not at ALL. In reality she's actually probably just as bad, but his moral code is far more defined than Maggie's is I suppose. He's a fairly friendly person, she spends a lot of her time working on their prosthetics and stuff like that. Big robot nerd basically aha
Lockeland Puckett
Pronouns: they/them
Scribgly scrimblo!!!! My screembl. My little BASTARD!! I love them y'all I can't understated how much they rotate around in my brain with their funny little accent! Just a silly guy they're so traumatized it's so much fun dude. They're missing an eye btw!! And an ear and half their tongue ahahaha. But they have a cat and three dogs and a silly accent so it's okay :)
Kitril and Cedith Puckett
Pronouns: he/him and they/them respectively
Locke’s father and auncle respectively, they hate each other for some reason I haven't quite determined why lol. But they're both silly old fey and I like them a lot. If I had to describe each in short terms I'd say Kit is a crazy cat man and Cedith is a bog witch. Great little guys. You should definitely trust them with your name
Lucien Ancrum
Pronouns: he/they
The guy ever!! He's so soft and big and sweet and will give everyone hugs. This man loves everyone he's literally just here for the hugs. He will become ur dad he will let you lay on a fluffy highland cow. He is just the best, I have no complaints he is so pure and good. What a man
Milo Ancrum-Buckley
Pronouns: she/her
Lucien's sister! She got the "short" end of the straw in genetics because she looks way more human than her brother but that's ok. She's strong and also big and will beat up anyone that misgenders u. She also owns and runs a tavern!!! Pretty sure she's a lesbian too but I haven't given her a proper love interest so if you have suggestions please tell them at me
Helios the Bard
Pronouns: he/him
Clown ahh MF. This man is goofy as hell but he's also the organizer behind 99% of the riots and strikes in one of the primary cities so there's that I guess. He has a wife he loves VERY much dude he's so so SO dedicated to her. Literally just hanging off her every word. But he's a lot smarter than he presents, he's just gotta keep it silly or he'll be consumed by the narrative
Christopher Sunsinger
Pronouns: he/him
Literally gay as hell. Gayest man I know. He's short and gay and gay. He's also strong as hell and could throw a person. He's completely blind but he keeps making sight-based jokes and thinks he's funny for it. Also a good therapist! Probably.
Loulouche Sunsinger
Pronouns: he/him
Angry and small. Christopher's little brother. Asshole. Highly traumatized and very very temperamental he may as well be your mortal enemy if you so much as look at him the wrong way. Kinda a space cowboy tho so that's cool! He likes to fight god
Raiden the Wanderer
Pronouns: he/him
Silly bird man who makes soup and studies ancient ruins of long lost civilisations in the desert! He doesn't have a quarrel with anyone and nobody has a quarrel with him. He knows the tunnels under the desert well and knows how to avoid sandworms. He's also a guide for lost travelers trying to make their way through a hopelessly large desert.
Ghost
Pronouns: they/them
Silly Creecher, Ghost is my little blorbo bingus. They are a cryptid and a spooky little guy and they will look at som1 and think "that is friend". Just my tall Eldritch beastie that likes to hang out with people and sit in their forest
Knox Odikonn the Mad Wizard
Pronouns: it/they/he
Really fucked up little guy. Kinda more fucked up than Maggie if I'm being honest. A real piece of work, it created a nightmarish hell-dimension called Wiz-Mart for fun and watched people actually try to utilize it as a proper grocery store. They find it HIGHLY entertaining to watch
The Glazastov Family
Pronouns: see below
I'd make individual blurbs for this family but none of them are that important aside from Vitaly, but he's also a very minor character in this (I still love him a lot though). The Glazastov Family is a (you guessed it) family of morticians and funeral directors. They are a family of five, consisting of the parents (Konstantin and Olga) and their three children (Vitaly, Sasha, and Polina). Konstantin (he/him) and Olga (she/her) are happily married and getting up there in years, but they tend not to go out much. Not very social at all. Vitaly (he/him) is the most social out of all of them and that's saying a lot. He's not very keen on speaking to others outside of work, but he has a soft spot for kids and does a lot of the talking for his family. Sasha (he/him) is an asshole. He was quickly driven out of the family home for trying to kill his brother. Polina (she/her), or Polly for short, is the youngest and very very sweet. She often plays with the children outside the morgue, and her responsibilities in the family have yet to be passed down, since she's quite young still.

Okay- I did it, I wrote the things down. I'm sure there will be plenty more characters and NPCs to come, I definitely haven't covered all of them, but this is the basic stuff for the moment. God it's exhausting making this long of a post how do y'all do it this took me like three days
Anyways enjoy, if you have questions my asks are open or you can just. Rb or comment or whatever idm either way. I hope you all derive much joy from my little blorbos

How you feel about witch and lillies? A yuri dungeon crawler where the yuri is actually part of the mechanics 😆
Man I remember hearing about this game 2 years back, forgetting about it, looking for it and then finding it when they released a trailer. Back then the marketing was only on facebook lol
Also flexing my obscure game awareness 😎
Double feature: How'd you feel about Labyrinth of Zangestu? it did get an english release mid last year. I thought the game was amazing. Very stylish and fundamental DRPG. Would wanna know your thoughts if you tried it
Can't really comment on it since it hasn't come out yet, but it has been on my wishlist for a while.
I haven't played Labyrinth of Zangetsu at this tim either. Currently my "high priority" backlog is centered around stuff like the Might & Magic 6-8 merge mod, Wizards & Warriors (2000), and Ashes Afterglow.
That second one is of particular interest because while the game has a lot of jank, technical issues, and questionable decisions, I did hear it has extremely good dungeon design that I feel I could learn a bit from.
So far I have only done one dungeon, a crypt, and it was not bad. It hasn't really blown me away yet but it was not bad. It was somewhat non-linear and had a healthy amount of loops back to main areas, along with some navigational challenges that are not uncommon in older CRPGs but feel kind of rare in tabletop dungeons.
I heard a castle dungeon I'm not far from now includes an immortal demon in its throne room, which constantly taunts you and sends monsters to look for you while you explore the castle in search for the ritual artifacts that can enable you to defeat the demon. It sounds pretty cool.
Ashes Afterglow is not a dungeon crawler but a somewhat open retro FPS. Despite this, I think some of the ideas in its level design really fit with what I try to accomplish when I make dungeons. They have this combination of "interesting to explore and fight through" and feeling like actual places that don't exist just for gameplay. They have a relatively believable design in that sense.
In contrast, the dungeons in Might & Magic 6-8 feel a lot more like video game levels than real locations. Not to the greatest possible degree, but definitely leaning more in that direction. One thing that probably doesn't help is that they are all so densely populated, and not just with small or medium monsters either.
One dungeon I suddenly found myself in after drinking from a random well was a labyrinthine castle populated by about 500 minotaurs and drakes. Just massive packs of these large monsters that kind of raise a lot of immersion-challenging questions.

11-14 for luna for the OC ask meme!
OMGGGG LETS GOOOO THANK YOU SM FOR ALLOWING ME TO RAMBLE!!!!
11: what is your oc's weapon of choice? have they ever actually used it?
she has quite some weapons but the weapon she uses the most is a huge scythe with a skull on it (it's the haros' scythe in game but i do not really tend to draw or consider the flames so)! she does not need it to cast spells whatsoever, but she does use it when she's about to kill somebody, which, does not happen often. she made the scythe herself after she killed morganthe. i've some lore made up about this scythe that i haven't quite perfected yet, so i need to give it some more thoughts teehee it's this scythe that she slayed malistaire the undying with.
12: is your oc self destructive? in what ways?
oh god you've never seen self destructive til you met luna. she does not, at all, give a single FUCK about her safety. not only will she willingly get herself into trashy situations, but any injuries she attains in the process, you couldn't ask her to care unless it's a terrible injury. she'll just shrug it off, even if it hurts like a bitch. even then, she's basically immortal at this point, so who cares. not HER, that's for sure!!!! injuries ain't shit. her mastery over necromancy surpasses anyone's, so if it's that bad, she'll siphon some health or something LOL. she's generally extremely careless when it comes to herself though. will barely eat at times, runs on 3-4 hours sleep most of the time, she could be on the verge of fainting during missions and this dumbass would just tough it out. azteca and khrysalis were especially hard times for her in terms of self destructiveness.
13: if you met your oc, would the two of you get along?
i'd probably like her, but she'd annoy the living hell out of me. i'd just tell her to take care of herself and she'd just disregard all of that. i'd be FURIOUS BROOO!!! i did give her quite some aspects of my personality (as i did with all my wizard101 ocs so far), but i'm trying my hardest not to make her a self insert. not that there's anything wrong with self insert ocs cause i fw them hard, i just don't want my main wizzy to be one! the whole reason i also go by hesperia on here (which is more of a penname and i match with my bestie) is cause i didn't want people to think i just self inserted myself haha.
14: how does your oc want to be seen by other characters?
having been made into a soldier as a child, it's in her very nature to want to be seen as this... strong pillar who always helps everyone and sacrifices her health and safety for them, even if she hates the people more often than not. but whether being a pillar is truly what she wants or not, is another entirely different can of worms... because she has absolutely no clue what she wants more. finally be ousted from society, which is unlikely asf to happen, or stay in this position forever because she has no clue what would happen to her if she stopped being THEEE wizard? it's her identity, it's what makes up who she is. even if people are never really thankful and always just want her to do more and more. she also wishes that people would just see her as part of the spiral. as someone who belongs. besides the stuff that was going on with dasein, novus and wallaru were just reminders to her that no matter if she's the spiral's scion, she will never ever truly become a part of it. she helped dasein integrate, but what about her?

BG3 Headcanons
Each companion becomes a surrogate family member to the others, taking on sibling, parental, or even older cousin roles. For example, Wyll acts as a protective big brother, while Karlach might become the encouraging, slightly chaotic aunt.
Post-game, the party might start researching mind flayers to try and help those who’ve been transformed. This could involve trips to ancient libraries or hidden cultist lairs in search of lore or magical artifacts.
Post-game, the party might start researching mind flayers to try and help those who’ve been transformed. This could involve trips to ancient libraries or hidden cultist lairs in search of lore or magical artifacts.
The group has a secret, harmless “roast night” ritual. Every week, they do a humorous impersonation of another party member’s quirks and combat style. Gale’s dramatic spell incantations, Astarion’s vampire theatrics, and Shadowheart’s stealthy one-liners are all top-tier material.
Everyone who ever has/had a problem all turn to Astarion for legal assistance (which he “annoyed” with reminding them that he WAS a magistrate- the word being past tense 🤣)
During Act 2 because of the lack of blood sources all 10 companions chipped in to help Astarion with his “dietary requirements” (meaning everyone pretty much offered their veins for him)
Gale:
• Temporarily took up druidic magic whilst dealing with the Absolute cult (yes I made Gale part druid so he could do the Rite of Timeless Body 🤣)
• Most likely is on the autism spectrum (more so on the Aspergers side rather than the autism side- considering he’s intellect is much higher)
• Has a type for immortals and those who can cast magic 🤣
• He definitely joined The Society of Brilliance (post game) as a hobby
* Has daddy issues (and is a mommy’s boy)
• Elminster is secretly Gale’s father (I mean wizards can live a VERY long time and was most likely called away from his family to do Mystra’s bidding as her Chosen)
<> Not to mention his personality is very similar to Gale’s; the way he pauses when reluctant to say something, both do a head tilt (either they’re related or Gale has just copied his mannerisms 🤣)
Also they’ve got very similar eye shape
• Definitely has a magic kink when it comes to sexual activity 🤣 (this is somewhat confirmed canonically — or at very least heavily implied )
• Is forced to learn Druidic Magic when Arabella accidentally shapeshifts (?)
<> Either that or she gets into trouble for stealing something enough to make the place go on lockdown (so yeah worse than stealing the statue of Silvanus 😂)
• Whenever he starts pining for his ex-girlfriend (pre-relationship with the player) he always delves himself into knowledge or fictional books
<> I can confirm because I’ve done/doing the exact same thing whenever I don’t want think about unpleasant memory I always distract myself with my interests 😭 (which is probably why he regales — pun intended— with the whole “I can’t sleep with you because of the orb” excuse, when really he did that exact thing in Act 2 😂
Astarion:
• He was a wizard (necromancy) before he was turned into a vampire and converted to being a rogue
• Eats - drinks - intermittently between “meals” (I’ve noticed when playing the game 5% of the time the option of “You can feed on me if you like” doesn’t come up so either that he’s full or it’s just a bug - I like to think it’s the former lol)
Theory: Maybe it’s because he’s worried about the player’s declining health - from blood loss - so he “skips” a few days at the very least
• Due to trauma has dissociation disorder (more canon than hc)
Trigger: If the player sleeps with the drow twins, Halsin or Shadowheart (determinant) as well their partner
• Born into nobility before being turned into a vampire and was forced into servitude for two centuries
• He’s afraid of clowns / stage fright (either that or he was just irritated by the player asking him to go up on stage 😂)
• Has a soft spot for animals, — even if he won’t admit it — especially stray cats. They’re kindred spirits to him; independent, nocturnal, and resourceful. (Which means he’d most likely get along with Tara really well 🤭)
• He made up with his spawn-kin and promised to keep in touch for business — leading the other seven thousand spawns in the Underdark — to begin with before slowly building an authentic familial bond
• Doesn’t actually remember his real birthday so picks a day (most likely picked a day either after the Grand Design was destroyed or the day he defeated Cazador but stayed as a spawn — giving a whole new meaning to the word “rogue” lol 😂)
• Whilst under the servitude of Cazador; Astarion was forced to help him with legal matters (and if he said ‘no’ he’d be severely punished)
• Post game Astarion gets inspired by Jaheria’s Harper cavalry so in the Underdark he creates one of his own called the “Nightshades” (you know because they’re vampires 😂)
<> The only way this would work is if he stays a spawn but is the leader of the other vampires.
• Likes to have slow tantric sex (especially after he had healed his trauma), and becomes less and less performative in bed; learning to just be with his partner without requirements in return
• During the interaction between the Emperor and the player. Astarion immediately knew that the former was similar to Cazador (minus the physical side of things but verbal or physical abuse is abuse regardless) and started to become apprehensive— you can’t see him in the back of the party if you have more than 4 people for your mod — around the mind flayer etc
Conclusion: I mean I wouldn’t put it past Astarion since he straight up picked up Malrus Thorm’s sadism in Act 2 acknowledging that and I quote “he’s just like Cazador” so I guess the same thing could apply here? I mean his INT is 13+ for a reason 😂)
• Most likely was just straight before turning into a vampire and being forced into servitude
• Would like to keep his surname especially when it comes to marriage (which make sense because he has lost everything to Cazador except the clothes on his back and his surname)
Shadowheart:
• She would pick up small, random items she finds on her journeys. They remind her of places she’s been or people she’s met, like tiny shells, feathers, or peculiar stones.
• To process her complex emotions and internal conflicts — between Act 2 and before entering Act 3 — she writes poems in a hidden journal. They’re dark and mysterious, like her, but sometimes reveal a longing for peace and love. (She hides them from Gale in particular knowing he’s a sucker for poems and doesn’t want to strike up a conversation about it 😂)
Wyll:
• Even though he had a complicated relationship with his father, he still pens unsent letters to him. Full of the things he wished he could say — apologies, updates on his journey, and occasional expressions of pride. (Let’s say Mizora allowed him to do this purely out of entertainment if nothing else)
Halsin:
• He is a great storyteller about his time in the Emerald Grove (like a doting grandfather 😂) — exaggerates particularly when it comes to the mention of his allyship with his companions when dealing with the Absolute
• He was possibly a Barbarian (or something similar with the same strength) in his past life before turning to Druidic magic
Karlach:
• Like Gale — she feels she’s not “mother material” (despite compromising with the player to get a really mean goat) she’s always wanted to be a mother and has a soft spot for children deep down
• For morning rituals she is the workout queen of the group, and often drags Lae’zel into sparring practice at the crack of dawn.
• Her influence encourages the creation of a sanctuary specifically for tieflings who’ve been wronged or marginalised , turning a piece of the world into a haven for infernal-touched outcasts looking to reclaim their identities.
• Ever since getting her second upgrade she was definitely living up to her belated “slut era” 😂 🤭 (even though canonically she’s monogamous)
• During her time in the Hells she adopted a habit of collecting things (particularly teddy bears) so she would feel that little bit less lonely — now she brings one after every adventure for a souvenir
• Ever since escaping Zariel’s service she decided to enlist as a Harper (both so she could do some good and hang out with her favourite hero)
Lae’zel:
• With her rebelling against Vlaakith and Orpheus dead — both determinant — she challenges the goddess’s for the throne (without evil ascension involved 🤭)
• She enjoys hearty food and drinks, especially after a battle. It’s new for her since Githyanki doesn’t usually indulge. She wouldn’t admit it, but there’s a hint of happiness when she digs into a big meal, like it’s another kind of victory.
Jaheira:
• Due to her druidic nature she sometimes uses traditional medicinal remedies to those who are hurt (she shares her time between herself — as a herbalist —, Shadowheart, and Minthara (so there’s more than one healer in the group)
• She self-assigns herself as “mother-hen” of the group and would often support or oppose the idea (depending what the leader of the party is doing) and would give motherly advice to regardless who it is
<> I’m aware that this is already heavily implied canonically but wanted to extend it further
• Post game she decided there was enough druids in the group so she takes up being a witch (which really suits her, her energy, and witch-esque personality 🤭)
Minsc:
• Boo is actually like Tara (only the owner can understand, but all the others hear animal noises)
Ships:
Fieryblade (Karlach x Wyll):
• Karlach definitely learnt and used Mage Hand
• They both role play their first encounter as a form of foreplay (which actually looks semi-canon — determined on your choices — in Karlach’s original run🤣 )
Bloodweave (Astarion x Gale)
• Gale and Astarion definitely adopted Arabella - post game- and officially “moved in” with them (possibly as Gale’s apprentice) after her parents died 🥹
• Astarion loves (and prefers) Gale’s updo hairstyle — so he can have the excuse to put it out when in a heated kiss 🤣
• Gale eats more salt (cons to being romantically involved with a vampire 😂) to make sure his blood pressure so it doesn’t go down too low
<> Background: After a misfortune event that happened and because as an autistic one can become a people pleaser (and he definitely is canonically) he allowed to be sucked dry to death and had to be brought back by Withers
• They often play strip chess (like a tantric version — due to Astarion’s trauma — of Strip Poker but with chess 🤣) - which kinda fits with both of their personalities
• Gale often annoys his husband/boyfriend (determinant) deliberately by doing an Transylvanian accent much much to Astarion’s chagrin

That was such a good analysis. And do you think a "balancing" is possible?
Re: this ask!
I think that depends entirely on what is meant by balancing!
If you’re specifically referring to the “you were meant to be my balance” line, in the context which it is said shdhdd I do not think he remotely meant it. When he’s like “you might make me a better man :)” etc, I think he’s fully bullshitting her. He isn’t saying it with the intention of becoming a better person, or even with genuine acknowledgment that that is something that might require doing! He’s just trying to get her to hook up with him. If at that very point Alina took him up on his offer, there is zero chance imo that he would at all change his ways. He’s fully decided that he is right, and she is wrong, and she only needs to see things his way. That if she doesn’t, the fault lies with her.
That being said, I think he’s a character that’s remarkably easy to rehabilitate in one way or another. I find online discussions of redemptions often really simplistic and only from the perspective of a single type of story. Fictional/narrative morality is so fluid, all it takes to side a character like the Darkling with protagonists is to simply put him in a position where his goals align with theirs. And I find that pretty easy because he has such clear cut things he cares about, ie the political situation in Ravka. So it’s a pretty easy fix to just introduce an outside threat and force him to work with Alina/any protagonist of choice.
Or like for fanfic reasons, I’ve thought a lot about scenarios where either the stag isn’t found, or he doesn’t go immediately batshit villain mode the moment Alina runs away, and the status quo established in SaB stretches on for longer. Or scenarios that are just set earlier. Like he seems to not have been committing many war crimes, that we know of, in that pre canon time? So that’s one metric, but that doesn’t actually sand down any of his edges lol. And it’s only placing a brief interstice on his more egregious terrible behavior— I fully anticipate the manipulation and interpersonal cruelty would also still be present.
If we’re talking about balancing him out from a legit moral perspective, that becomes harder, chiefly because he is really goddamn old, and him being unadaptable, and set in his ways is literally a plot point (his hatred for technological advancement).
His age is super unclear, but canonically *at least* upwards of five hundred years old, and honestly I can understand why, past a certain point, he’d be like “WHY do I have to care what these children think, when they’re going to die in five minutes anyway?” I don’t think he can really think of people as people anymore, because he’s seen repetitions of similar things play out so many times, for so long. And being so powerful for so long means that he can afford to act pretty carelessly because there aren’t that many permanent consequences. Most typical worst case scenario (beyond the canon ending lol) is that he can literally just fake his death and come back as his own son or grandson with zero consequences. So a key factor in making him change in any way imo is stripping him of power so that he doesn’t have the luxury of not giving a damn about other people. I mean that more institutionally, but losing his magic could also be useful.
Once again, for its flaws and my baseline disagreement with the concept of bringing him back from the dead after TGT, I think RoW had the right idea wrt forcing him to pretend to be a random monk. He was, however, even trying to claw to power then lmao. I think it would just take way longer than the span of stuff we saw in RoW to make any meaningful change in him. He’s just been an evil wizard king in his little evil wizard tower for too long. And on top of that, imo, his insistence to Alina that, when herself faced with immortality, she will turn out exactly the same as him, stems from a sort of sunk cost fallacy. He honestly seems desperately unhappy as a character! He seems so jaded and fully emotionally removed from everyone and everything, where the only thing that matters to him is power, and he needs her to discover that that is the only outcome possible bc if not… well he’s just wasted centuries being fucking miserable for nothing. He doesn’t want there to be another option! So he’s just very, very reticent to having any other perspective or changing in any way, and if he ever does it will inevitably be done while kicking and screaming the entire way. (I might honestly just be averse to the idea personally because redemptions are boring to me! He’s much more fun if he sucks!)
Personally, my favorite method of domesticating the Darkling is just Alina using one of the Morozova amplifiers (possibly any amplifier if it just works like that?) on him and keeping him as her pet war criminal tbh. I think that has the most entertainment value, and the most safeguards against him finding his way to power again and committing more war crimes, or being in a place to do much manipulating. Will it fix him? Ehhhh maybe over time, since it might force him out of his usual habits? Probably not. But at least it functionally tempers most of his worse tendencies lol.
TLDR: Do I think the Darkling can be balanced? I don’t know! Sounds like a tall order! I do think he can be put on a leash though.

Since Thanos never got his hands on Loki, does this mean that the later attempts at the Stones come as a complete surprise to anyone living on Earth? (Except for Strange. Time loops are a pain.) I can easily see Stark's return with "bruh those were the SCOUTS the armada is freaking huge" getting more reactions than canon's "lol nope it was just one crazy man with an unexplained army of meat-robots".
Also is Loki (TV series) canon here because the TVA would go apeshit over this divergence from the 'true timeline'. I do not need Baby Harry and Loki getting abducted by those Time Tyrants.
Ajjxnshs I’ve spent like an hour plus plotting out like the whole timeline then realized i was basically telling the entire plot of everything if I do eventually make a fic from this so we are backpedaling a bit.
Basically Loki and Harry break each others respective canons and the inclusion of Loki’s children (namely Hel who developed an incredible fondness of Harry when he technically died at a year old) breaks it even more.
Harry becomes MOD early because of Hel’s fondness of him and her desire to make sure her littlest sibling is immortal (he ages until his first death which doesn’t happen during the wizarding war as Loki ends it before it can even start tbh) and since I’m choosing the “thanos is in love with death who happens to be Harry’s older sister that tells him everything” route they know about Thanos’ grand plan pretty early.
Also baby immortal Harry is a menace and I adore him tbh.
Loki the series wouldn’t be canon to this because ima preach ready to pull my hair out at all the timeline fuckery going on and if I had to think about alternate universes on top of that I would actually be bald.

OC Patron Saint Quiz
Tagged by @sketchyelvenasss for Iona - thank you love, I really like things like this too ❤️
Tagging @starfightrpilot if you feel up for it, for one of them plucky wizard girls I so love? ❤️
[And if i might ramble for a bit about Themes and such, this seems... very fitting, actually. Like, looking at the results, it honestly feels almost inevitable that she'd get this one, lol.]
Blood has always been something of a core theme in Iona's story. A lot of her imagery and general persona is meant to be very visceral, guided by blood, and in some ways, it's always all coming back to it: some elements are more surface-level (like the red of her hair being explicitly meant to resemble blood when stuck to her skin), but also a lot of her background is based around the rejection- and then the embracing of a legacy of blood.
.... Which makes her sound a lot like a Dark Urge character even though she's not, lol- what I mean lives more in the ballpark of the immortality and continued chain of existence of an elven soul, the magic continuing to be passed down through her bloodline, it just being matrilineal in its nature (since femininity in general is often conventionally associated with blood), her whole past being about denying and hiding what her blood is capable of... It's kind of a contrast of living in opposition to her nature vs. indulging in it, not to mention how heartbeats, warmth, and the consuming of blood, of life, all feature heavily as a theme in her most important relationship too.
I sometimes like to kinda "reduce" her almost to her cunning and wit because I find it fun, I like her being my weasel-woman too morally slippery to be caught by the consequences of her actions, but I do also love that beneath that veneer, she's just.... ferociously and defiantly alive, and learning what that means for herself.
Like, I really like the thought that she wears masks and plays roles and lies effortlessly, but if you cut into her, at her core... there is always going to be blood. She is blood, and fire, and force, and defiance, and yearning, and teeth, passion, life.
It's fitting that one of the first moments of genuine authenticity in her adult life was someone tasting her blood, and that the one most drawn to her would be an undead man seeking to feed off that heat in her, lol.
#squirrel plays bg3#oc: iona raedir#fingers crossed that my internet will play nice and let me post this#i've been looking into stuff for her cult background lately and it's kinda just recently occurred to me how much she must be reeling#at the beginning of the game she's got just.... god so much going on in her head that's just SCREAMING#and like. i did that on purpose but the sheer magnitude of it is kinda just hitting me#and there is that sorcerer-specific line in the weave scene with gale that makes me emotional still#that line where by declaring magic to be home and who she is; she can avoid needing to roll#that's kinda when this whole... thing; crystallized for me#anyway i love her your honor#i need to write more comprehensively about her#and like; post it too so all three people who read my ramblings know i'm not talking out of my ass lol#(god the post-game is going to be a MESS for both her and Astarion)#(they are straight up not going to have a good time for a while there)#(once they kinda manage to stop for a moment and take a breath that is)

I saw a clip of Pretty Cure talking about one of the characters causally being brutal as fuck and I gotta say, it's kind of amazing. I'm still half expecting the Sailor Moon approach where the violence is more... PG? Like, someone is evaporated with pure, concentrated friendship in a haze of brilliant, prismatic light.
Wild to see a magical girl straight up kick someone into the stratosphere and curb stomp them half way to the center of the earth in a cute skirt and heels.
Kinda wish their transformations looked a little less like blatant advertisement for cheap, plastic toys but it's kinda baked into the genre so... What can you do?
Side note, my favorite transformation is the first... Season or so of this one where they have those little clamshell clackers? And that clack them together to transform in parts, totally bullshit later seasons have like, a hairdresser apron or whatever. Can't recall what anime it was, only saw clips of the transformations. But they were like, ridiculously young to be fighting anything. Gotta be middle of grade school at the oldest and certainly looked it. I can totally see young me dancing to the transformation. Very satisfying.
Anyway, tangent over in a tangent post lol, it just reminded me of a very funny explanation for the flowery, ridiculous magical girl stuff. Like, mostly based on Sailor Moon with the reincarnation and whatnot, but basically the utopia they originally came from had to be like... Fucking bored by the end of it.
I mean, an eternally peaceful kingdom with seemingly immortal folks running around?
I like the concept of a kingdom like that, that's so far beyond being challenged that their whole military might just got... Fucking weird. Like, Sailor Uniform styled outfits is totally a good idea in any fight kind of weird. Short skirts and high heels with glitter eyeshadow and unattainable hairstyles. And it's entirely created from this boredom because of how much magic it takes to make all of that. So it's a status symbol that you didn't NEED real armor to kick ass with a silly little heart wand and pink light ribbons swirling about.
None of it is practical cause its all backed by magic and the fact that it works is a damn FLEX. It's also weirdly ominous that if they ever decided to stop wasting magic on cute skirts and makeup, all that power would be freed up to vaporize you from orbit. The transformation burning off excess energy made in the process of creating their uniform.
To the point that it's fucking normal.
I wanna see magical girls in ridiculous regalia going up against your most basic looking wizard (supreme whatever whatever, strongest of all time as you'd expect) and getting trounced. Utterly body slammed. Every inch of their clothes is made of pure magic and this wizard dude can only just manage to channel forces beyond mortal minds through an ancient staff and poetic stanzas. He doesn't understand at all until he actually looks at them and realizes they've basically poured the equivalent of the big bang into their skin and all those overpowered attacks was just run off. The literal dregs of what they call upon with cute dances and catch phrases.
I like to imagine if they totally mastered it, they can transform without any pomp, just literally walking forward as it all flashes away in sparkles and energy, forming their normal suit or perhaps a stronger version. No need to bring a claymore to a knife fight normally, right? Besides, the dance is fun! Have a little bit of levity, won't you?
They've utterly mastered magic to the point that it's not even a thought or question that they're so wasteful. A product of a long gone, decadent society destroyed through their own hubris and misfortune. Looped back from masters to novices once more, just figuring out what twirly dance can defeat the creature of the week.
It's ridiculous BECAUSE the kingdom that made it was ridiculous and bored. Show off and wasteful of what their own ancestors struggled for decades to master a fraction of. Talent and skill decayed for the UwU vibes because there was no god left to kill.
Only them.

RUBS MY GREEDY LITTLE HANDS TOGETHER HELL YEAH
urianger my beloved
okay let me go dig up my questions
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
I LOVE HIS THEE AND THOU-ING. I especially love the fact that. There's no reasons like culturally for him to be like this, most sharlayans talk normally, if not a touch more formally. he made himself like this. i adore it.
i forget here it is (if its an npc who says it or if its a lorebook thing) but i like the part where the lore says hes Like This because of all those damn prophecy tomes he was on as a little kid. so i just imagine tiny little urianger looking at Ye Old Prophies and COMMITTING. he is precious to me
Small thing: I also love his stupid two sets of goggles when in his Potato Sack era.
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
hmm... i feel like if i just sent him off on his own, he would wilt a bit. i would want to put him in something that gave him a fun, relaxing time, and think if thats to be accomplished I would have to send some of his People with him. he's been alone an awful lot and i see those as times that have also been or ended Bad. i think that might be something he dwells on.
OH I KNOW. okay weird one. but. BUT. hear me out. i would send him to Roller Coaster Tycoon. I know that's just technically just like a theme park but when i build them they are the BEST POSSIBLE THEME PARKS IN THE WORLD. if he could bring than, ryne, and gaia along, i just know he'd be really fulfilled by having a Fun Family Trip. i kind of see him as the guy who happily holds the bags and waits at the end of the ride. and i KNOW gaias got bags. also i feel like he is taking pictures and making the kids wear silly Park Gear. they go to some of the slow like Sitting and or Show type rides for him.
also if he was in RCT i could pick him up and Dangle him. not like malevolently but with the same emotion as I would have if I was Rotating Him
also also i have. forgotten everything ive ever read played or watched so im sure i have a better answer rolling around in there but alas.
7/8. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like/despise?
I don't actually know much about the fandom takes on Urianger. Most of what I see is people analyzing his actions w/ The Warriors of Darkness and in Shadowbringers, and I haven't seen it be unfair yet. I think, though, I am not deep in the Fandom.
OH you know what I do hate. Every now and again people will mishear a bit about 1.0, and start popping off about how ~~~~~~secretly~~~~ Urianger is ACTUALLY a millennial old WISE and SCHEMING IMMORTAL WIZARD~~~~~~. I cannot blame anyone for thinking that, but it drives me off the wall. hes a 29 year old weird PhD haver who went around at aetherytes and chanting his insane End Of The World prophecies, he wears EITHER potato sack OR a backless dress and the only thing he knows how to do other than is eat hot chip be bisexual and tell the most insane lies possible. actually come to think of it i feel like HE was the one who started the insane lie ' is ACTUALLY a millennial old WISE and SCHEMING IMMORTAL WIZARD' so. either that or it was a general team effort. im getting into the weeds here so i digress.
urianger is so weird. i love him.
15. What’s your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn’t matter if it’s canon or not.)
I'm on that Urianger/Than ship if the bit about the theme park didn't give me away lol. I also like Uri/Moen but if I had to pick one it would be Uri/Than. Uri/Moen makes me sad to think about...
16/17. What’s your least favorite ship for this character?
Lol I havehit up the archive for this one. I'm genuinely not sure what the most popular ships are for Uri outside of Thancred. My guess is Uri/WoL, then Moen. But lets see.
lmao i opened the ffxiv tag and the first fic is an Uri/Than fic ive been reading which YIPPE! its updated!
okay im back its all than/uri and some uri/WoL. there are other ships but i got to the point where there were so few it would feel like kicking a life-raft to mention them.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn’t matter?
I thought about this long and hard. I went at it from every logical angle. I took apart his characteristics, history, things he's done and to who. Interests, likes dislikes. I thought HARD.
I could NOT shake my immediate and initial thought of Estinien. I haven't got a stick to shake at my pile of evidence I just feel this in my heart.
I guess I was very impacted by uh... when was it. The Scions were in the Rising Stones, and Uri was mentioning he was going to get some books or something to try and share with Estinien to get to know him. It was the most endearing shit I have ever seen and it cut me to the bone. I think probably that attempt did not work but I do not care. GO FOR IT URIANGER! i also, i suppose, wonder how many friends Uri has every actively tried to make himself. like in childhood it seemed more like moenbryda Selected him, and that not many other kids liked him. his complicated history with the scions is complicated, but i think obviously he has to put in active effort to maintain those relationships (ESPECIALLY SINCE HE LOVE HOT CHIP LIES), but a lot of his character development w/ the scions seems more akin to 'hey this is the guy on our team we've known each other for like a decade so we are friends now' and less akin to 'hi my name is urianger can i show you some cool books'
its just intriguing to me why he did that. i hope so much it works out.
also come to think of it i dont know how many friends ESTINIEN have sought out of his own volition. he actively avoids aymeric half the time. orn kahi appears to have also gone the moenbryda route of Mine Now. tataru and krile had to actively hunt and Blackmail him into the scions. certainly i would call him friends with us now, and he cares a lot about alphinaud, but as far as Who Reached Out To Who, i think he is actually in the same boat as uri. huh.
vrtra, i think, is it. though i haven't had enough review time to say who lead that one.
now i want to see uri and estinien sitting silently in a room doing their own separate silent tasks (uri is reading a Tome, estinien is Caring For Weapons) SPECIFICALLY so i can caption it 'tag two blokes who do fuck all'. maybe its alisaie sneaking a bad blurry picture over her shoulder with her front camera and sending it to alphinaud.
23. Favorite picture of this character?
oh man i dont know. theres so much good ingame content and there SO MUCH GOOD ART and i do not have ANY of it tagged by character. let me go look.
OH NO I KNOW this is my favorite image of urianger of all time i want to cry every time i look at it. the fucking. expressions. i cant possibly describe in words how MUCH i feel when viewing this image. im going to pop.
#tag games#if my room was cleaner and i had a proper place to Display it i would get a print#the quantity of emotions#overwhelming#asks#ffxiv#endwalker spoilers
