ACT 1, SCENE 1: blue lock headcanons
Tumblr media
rin is the type to have hyper-fixations, except you would literally never know. this man is discreet, as in batman level of shadiness. one time, he accidentally took too much adderall at 3 a.m. and considered making a shrine of you inside his bedroom closet. he was already halfway done with printing and cutting out your pictures before he realized what he was doing. that was the only time you caught him slipping, and he doesn't even remember most of it. definitely makes little voodoo dolls and sticks pins in the people he hates (looking at you, isagi.)
sae smells like fresh linens and warm laundry. sometimes, if you snuggle up to him, you can also sniff out hints of the sea. if you asked him what shampoo he uses though, he would not know. (it's definitely a 5-in-1 though since this man emphasizes practicality above all else.)
kaiser is secretly a pathetic coward with zero pain tolerance. he had a smug smirk on his face the entire time he got his blue rose tattoo done because of how badly he wanted to impress you. definitely went home later that day and cried from the pain. he would scream and be an overdramatic baby when you tried to remove the saniderm.
rin would insist that he is not like sae in the slightest but then proceeds to act like a sore loser when he doesn't immediately win. do not challenge him to any game that involves a ball. competitiveness runs through the entire itoshi bloodline.
sae is financially illiterate. he would definitely buy you anything you looked at for longer than 0.5 seconds. when the cashier asks him where to send the check, he tells them to ring it all up on his manager. definitely does not know how much is too much.
reo tried to get nagi into houseplants once he saw how lackluster nagi's apartment was. but all of them except the cactus died since nagi forgot to water them. choki is obviously a trooper.
rin is lactose-intolerant, but his gourmand tastebuds only allow him to drink one specific brand of almond milk. would make you drive two hours back to the grocery store just because you accidentally forgot to get the unsweetened version without the artificial vanilla flavoring.
noa is very grounded, mostly due to his background but also because of his personality. definitely the type to be rich but not act rich. he would get along very well with keanu reeves. that's not to say he won't spoil you though. this man would let you have whatever you wanted, so long as it was reasonable.
sae is a horrible gift-giver. every christmas, he gives you socks, a mug, or some random overpriced souvenir he panicked and bought at the airport on the way home. needless to say your kitchen is now overcrowded with jumbo fridge magnets and keychains.
shidou would flirt with the entire female population but with an almost exclusive emphasis on teachers. if you showed up one day wearing a pencil skirt, he would go absolutely feral.
rin used to be the shortest in his class back in primary school. he went home after picture day and cried because they made him stand on the bottom row for the class picture. years later though, he now towers over both you and sae.
chigiri was very close to his older sister when growing up. she definitely forced him into some very embarrassing predicaments. one time, his sister made him model all of her dresses, and he paced around the hallway in full catwalk style for an entire afternoon. because his sister used to play with his hair, he always makes you run your fingers through his locks and do the braids for him. it's a force of habit.
chris heavily overuses cologne despite being the touchiest man in existence. he doesn't understand why people try to distance themselves from him. no one told him he smelled like an entire distilled perfumery until the day you came into his life.
rin gets jealous over sae's fangirls, especially the ones that carry around cardboard signs during games. a fan wants to get married to his brother? not on his watch. you had to physically drag him out one time because he was infinitesimally close to throwing hands.
kunigami is a firm believer in women's rights (and wrongs.) one time his sisters were bullied at school for their dresses, so he showed up fully decked in hello kitty merchandise and a hot pink bow on his head just to show the boys that feminine wear can be cool too. toxic masculinity is actually scared of him.
sae had a teacher phase as a child, except everything was football related. he sat rin down in front of a whiteboard while he took a stick and walked his little brother through every single passing combination in existence. also deliberately gave rin a failing grade because his standards are so high. rin started crying, and sae felt bad, so he changed them all into passing marks.
nagi definitely plays dress up games on his phone. sometimes when you're both rotting in bed on a saturday evening, he asks you if he should use pink or blue eyeshadow for the disney princess for whom he's currently giving a makeover.
sae keeps random hair ties on his wrists. the tabloids used to speculate that those hair ties were evidence for him dating someone in secret. lo and behold, the paparazzi later catches him shopping for groceries with his hair tied up in pigtails. those hair ties are, in fact, only for him.
niko has family issues, no explanation needed. definitely had some unresolved trauma on his mother's side. he secretly thinks he doesn't deserve you, but your kindness is always there to bring him away from his insecurities.
hiori has curated playlists for every mood. his taste is absolutely immaculate. when you go on late night drives with him, he's always in charge of the speakers. doesn't want you to know that music used to be his place of solace during the times his parents were fighting, but the warmth of your hand on his makes him believe that everything will be alright.
rin used to get a high fever at night sometimes, but instead of going straight to his parents, he would creep into his brother's room and hover above the bed like a specter. rin would stand there and just whisper, "sae, i frew up." after he started dating you though, he just climbs under the sheets without asking. please take care of this poor boy.
nagi massacres his exams with absolutely illegible penmanship but then proceeds to get every single question correct. his teacher never put his work up on the wall because it looked entirely like chicken scratch. you had to reteach him the entire alphabet just so people could actually understand his written work.
rin and sae both get sunburnt easily, except sae actually cares for his skin and meticulously puts on sunscreen beforehand. one time, you three all went to the beach and rin was the only one who came home looking like a burnt tomato.
barou used to live with his grandmother every summer, and she would force him to clean the entire house with her. that is where he picked up such good cleaning habits. his personal hygiene is impeccable, and he would love nothing more than to brush his teeth with you every morning and make the bed together. spring cleaning is his favorite hobby.
sae was on spider-catching duty every time there was an arachnid longer than 5 centimeters in the house. he would pick up the spider with bare hands while you and rin both stood in the corner of the bathroom, trying to act cool but internally screaming.

Clark rode the glass elevator up to his penthouse in Metropolis. He could never afford a place like this on a farm boy allowance, but he didn't need to thanks to his alien physiology. He was loaded with money that he stole from banks. Night after night, parties. Guys. Girls. Sex. Drugs. Whatever he wants, he gets.
He frowns unhappily as the elevator dings, and the door opens. Clark sees his best friend from Smalville, Y/N L/N, outside his penthouse door, looking in the window. He turns to him when he hears the elevator. "Clark, I need to talk to you about ..."
The words die in his throat as Clark comes toward him, backing him against the railing and towering over him as he growls. "Y/N, I told you to never come back here again! Who else knows I'm here?"
"No one. Your secret's safe with me, but we need to talk."
Clark walks past him and opens the door into the penthouse as he tries to shut the door on him. "I'm busy." Y/N stuck his foot in the door. "Well, I'm coming in. Now, what's your deal? You come to Metropolis, and you're a completely different person."
"Maybe it's the real me." Clark said.
"Well, if it is, then I definitely prefer the farm boy version. Now... how did you afford all this?" Y/N looks at the expensive looking clothes and shoes. The silky bedsheets and bunch of elegant wine and booze. A new stereo, strobe lights, a gaming system, and a giant TV screen.
"Why, Y/N? Gonna tell all the rednecks back in Nowheresville? Maybe that's why you kept my secret."
"I kept your secret because you asked me to. I was hoping that if I left you alone, you'd get a grip and come home. Now, there are people in Smallville that still haven't given up on the search."
Clark rolled his eyes at that. He could give two fucks about Smallville. Living like a poor man, always wanting for something. "I'm tired of worrying about every nickel and dime. I figured it was time I had all the same cool stuff everyone else has. Besides, I've erased Smallville from my past." He sat in a chair.
Y/N eyed the red stone class ring on Clark's finger. "Really? Is that why you're still wearing your school ring?" Clark touched his ring and frowns. The red Kryptonite was making him into a different person. A person he didn't recognize, but he didn't care. He liked being Kal of Metropolis.
"You know, sooner or later, someone else is gonna find you."
"You were lucky."
"Maybe so. But what are you gonna do if one day Lana shows up on your doorstep, or your dad? How are you gonna explain this to them?" Y/N asked.
"I'm through explaining myself to anyone, Y/N!" Clark shouts.
"Clark, Lana is a wreck, and your parents are losing the farm!"
Clark stood up and walked across the room to pour himself a drink at the small bar. "What do I care? I'm never gonna go back anyway."
"Clark, you were not forced into exile. You ran away from your problems. You are not being noble. You're being a coward!" Y/N shouts out after him.
Clark's eyes flash a dangerous red color as he struggles to control himself. His anger and urges as he walks back to Y/N, grabbing his shoulders, pushing him to the door. "Y/N, get out! If you tell anyone where I am, I'll go so far away from Metropolis that no one will ever find me!"
"Get your hands off me!" Y/N pushed him back. "I don't even know who you are anymore."
Clark got in his face, lips close enough to kiss. "Get out!"
"Make me, you selfish bastard!"
Clark crashed their lips together in a heated and passionate kiss as Y/N tugged at Clark's hair before the Kryptonian lifted the human boy up in his strong arms and carried him to his bed.

Goo Kim x Reader: School Days with Princess & the Delinquent
Chapter 3 - Please read chapter 1 first!
Index: Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 8 | Chapter 9 | Chapter 10 | Epilogue
Tumblr media
It's only a couple weeks later, when Goo hasn't seen you at lunch, when you haven't reprimanded him for his sloppy uniform, and not even said a word to him.
That's when it gets to him.
It's no surprise that you're scared. People like you are gutless and weak. Running away in the face of violence, not understanding and not wanting to understand how the grimy underbelly of the world works.
Goo was mistaken to think you could be interesting when you stood up to him on his first day about his uniform.
He hates being wrong.
.
.
Goo Kim doesn't have friends.
Acquaintances at best, who know him at surface level but never more than that. He holds his cards too close to his chest to let anyone in.
You were never a friend, not by any stretch of the imagination.
He knows he pisses you off. Revels in it, in fact.
Still, it's a routine he had gotten used to. Only being human after all, and humans do like routine. He doesn't miss you, just needs to adapt his lunch times to something else.
Even as he considers this, he can't help wondering about you.
What are you doing and where are you hiding.
Are you making any progress or still as dumb as ever.
If you make your feelings of contempt with anyone else so obvious.
He has seen the murderous glint in your eye when he points out your mistakes and it warms his heart.
.
.
Goo finds himself stealing glances at you when you're in classes together. It's far more exciting than listening to the teacher droning on.
Studies the shape of your back, the colour of your hair. Memorises the gait of your walk, not realising it's all seared into his brain until it's too late.
.
.
"Are you ok?"
Taking small, tentative steps, you approach Goo sitting on the sidewalk. Bodies scattered around him and him, for the first time since you've met, looking worse for wear.
Disoriented and blood trickling from his scalp, Goo can barely hear you over the ringing in his ears. You repeat yourself a few more times before he registers your presence.
Adrenaline still coursing through his veins and reacting automatically at the foreign presence seated besides him, he raises the baseball bat-
His body recognises you before his foggy brain can, movement stilling when he sees your eyes widening and you flinching, knowing there's no way you can move out the way and almost bracing for impact.
"Oh," Goo lowers the weapon, "It's you."
"It's me," you repeat pointlessly. He can hear the tremble in your voice.
With a sigh, he removes his glasses, cleaning them with his torn shirt. "What do you want?"
You think about how stupid your question is, considering what the scene looks like. But you ask once more, "Are you ok?"
Goo spits out a mouthful of blood and you wrinkle your nose. He gives you his trademark oily smile. "Princess, I'm A-OK!"
"Oh... that's good then." You want to facepalm your inane responses.
"Anyway," he places his glasses back on and pouts. Another typical Goo Kim expression. "Didn't I offend your delicate sensibilities the other week with my fighting?"
You bite your lip, considering your response. Then, realising there's no point in lying, "Not... offended. I-" you rack your brain to see if there was a way to make you sound any less of a coward but- "I'm scared of you."
"Shame. That hurts my feelings," Goo quickly moves on, realising there is the tiniest grain of truth in what was supposed to be a sarcastic statement and not knowing how to deal with that, "And we were starting to get so close."
"We were?!"
"You know," he peers over the top of his frames, "We could have really been something."
You start to stammer some sort of reply. Before you manage any comprehensible words, you're cut off by Goo's hyena laugh. A bit too loud and a bit too jarring though it is still good to hear again. You smile, and don't bother to hide it.
Nevertheless, you're still worried about him.
"Do you want to go to the hospital?"
"Princess, I'm good."
Goo dusts off his knees, now fully recovered and stands up-
Your hand shoots out, grabbing onto his wrist and yanking him back down.
"Hold on," you rummage around your backpack, "I've got a first aid kit here. Let me patch you up at least."
Of course you have a first aid kit in your bag. Goo chuckles to himself, it just fits you so well.
He is uncharacteristically obedient and silent as you clean up the dried blood and scrapes, leaving him neatly bandaged.
It's the first time anyone has ever done this for him.

A Cup of Expresso to Go☕️
Tumblr media
A/N: I am not a coffee drinker so I don’t know which type of coffee is in the GIF above. Also, please let me know if you spot any mistakes, and send me requests. I’m bored. Thank you!
It was another dreadful Monday, especially for Espresso. And the fact that today was Valentine’s Day made it even worse for the poor cookie. There were glittery heart-shaped decorations everywhere, along with mailcookies delivering love letters while wearing pink. Somehow, this all reminded him of a specific knight that never failed to make his heart throb, with his light blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Espresso shook his head as he snapped out of his trance.
Espresso shivered as he walked into his favourite cafe, which was decorated with roses and cupids. Although it was extremely early in the morning at the time, couples were already crowding the cafe. Everywhere Espresso looked, he saw couples whispering sweet nothings to each other, hugging and kissing. Feeling extremely lonely, he sighed and ordered, “A cup of espresso to go please…”
He thanked the waiter and took a sip of his coffee. The bitter taste of it only made his heart ache more for the touch of his special someone, Madeleine. But he was too much of a coward to admit his feelings for the knight. Instead, Espresso just excused himself by working past midnight and focusing on his studies.
Suddenly, he felt a pair of strong warm hands around his waist, pulling him towards a source of heat and comfort. Immediately, Espresso knew who it was. A rose was put in his hand, along with a perfectly wrapped box. Not used to the affection, he couldn’t help but blush furiously.
Espresso looked at his watch. He was almost late for his class, but with Madeleine’s strong arms around him, he couldn’t move. He didn’t want to move. After taking a deep breath to calm himself, he stuttered, “I-I need to head to my class…”
“I told Latte to fill in for you, so you’re in no rush. Open it,” the soothing voice of Madeleine rang in his ears. Inside, there was a silver ring with Madeleine’s family crest engraved on it. “Will you be my partner in life?”
“P-pardon..?” Espresso blushed, not sure if he heard that correct. He could feel Madeleine’s warm breath on his neck. “Me? As your lover?”
The knight nodded, chuckling at his adorable blush. He gently took the ring from Espresso and slipped it on his ring finger. The once composed coffee cookie was now a shy blushing mess. They look at each other, seeing the love and affection in one another’s eyes. Not a word was exchanged, yet both cookies knew that they were meant for each other.
“Yes… yes, I will.”

Sorry, I Love You
Tumblr media
Pairing: Han Jisung x F!reader
Genre: just tooth-rotting fluff, best friends to lovers
Summary: Jisung knew that being in love with his best friend was a bad idea. It was cliché, but he'd rather suffer in silence than risk losing what you both had. However, everything suddenly changes thanks to one date that went wrong.
Warning: some swearing
Words: 2k
Author's Note: Hey sweeties, how you doing? Here’s another story, I hope you like it! English is not my first language so I’m sorry for any grammar errors. Let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
"Oh, come on! Just confess already," Minho argued, turning the bag of chips in his mouth.
"You don't get it. I can't do this," Jisung sighed loudly. "She's my best friend."
“Who you've been in love with for years.” Minho offered the package in his hands to Jisung, but he declined.
Jisung felt too sick to think about eating. Just the thought that you were right now on a date with a boy from your class was enough to make his stomach twist in an unpleasant way.
"It doesn't matter. The last thing I want is to screw up what we both have. She's too important for me to let this happen.”
Minho rolled his eyes, "Wow, you're so dramatic. I feel as if I'm in those stupid teenage movies where the protagonists love each other, but instead of talking about their feelings, they prefer to do all that drama."
Jisung scoffs bitterly, "Yeah, sure! She certainly loves me, that's why she's with another guy right now."
"She's with another guy 'cause you're too much of a coward to say how you really feel," Minho stated, ignoring the death glare he received from his friend. "You know I'm right."
"Whatever." Jisung ran his hands through his hair and dropped his head in a gesture of defeat. "It's already too late."
Suddenly, Jisung's cell phone started ringing, echoing loudly through the room. His heart involuntarily sped up when he saw your name flashing on the screen. A million questions ran through his mind at that moment. Why are you calling him? Are you okay? Has something happened? If that idiot had done something to you...
"Aren't you going to answer?" Minho's voice suddenly snapped him out of his thoughts.
He gripped the phone tighter and accepted the call.
"Hello? Y/n are you okay?”
“Um… Hi, Sung. Are you busy?" Jisung could clearly hear the hesitation in your voice.
“No, I'm not busy at all. Go ahead."
"I thought we were going to see that movie," Minho whispered, offended. Jisung kicked his friend's leg.
“Can you pick me up? I think it's going to start snowing and…” Before you could finish, Jisung was already on his feet, looking for his car keys.
“Of course. I'm on my way. Send me your location over message. Stay in a warm place while you wait for me, okay?”
"Okay. Thanks, Sung."
Jisung ended the call, quickly putting on his shoes.
Minho looked at his friend, confused, "Is everything alright? What happened?"
"I don't know. She didn't sound good.”
"Do you think that guy did something to her?"
"For his own sake, I hope not." Jisung pulled on his sweatshirt and raced towards the door, waving at Minho.
"Take care of her." He heard his friend yell.
While parking the car, Jisung noticed he knew that place. The street was crowded with people strolling calmly, admiring the Christmas decorations in the shop windows. The weather was colder than he expected. He could see his breath condensing right in front of his eyes.
He was walking toward the cozy restaurant that you two usually frequent, when he saw some kids playing in the snow that had started to fall. He smiled happily. But his smile grew even more when he saw you standing near a bench, catching the snowflakes with your hands.
"I thought I told you to wait for me in a warm place." Jisung laughed when he saw you jump in fright.
"You scared me, you idiot!" You exclaimed, bringing your hands to your chest.
"I'm really sorry, my lady," He smirked, bowing his head.
"No, you don't." You rolled your eyes but stopped as soon as you saw what he was wearing. ”Jisung! Are you only wearing this thin sweatshirt?”
He chuckled awkwardly, "Oh, yeah. I didn't know it was this cold."
"What do I do with you?" You sighed, pretending to be disappointed.
You unrolled your scarf and stood on your tiptoes to wrap it around Jisung's neck. He stared at you in surprise, his round eyes wide.
"N-no, you don't need to do this," he stuttered. "You'll get cold.”
"Nah, you need it more than me. Your nose is redder than Rudolph the reindeer's." You giggled, making Jisung's cheeks blush.
"Thanks." He muttered, feeling extremely shy all of a sudden.
Jisung hoped you couldn't hear how fast his heart was beating.
"It's nothing." You took his hand, dragging him down the street. "Now let's get down to business. Ice cream!"
"What?" He shouted in a high-pitched voice. "Now? In this weather?”
"Why not? It's always a good time for ice cream, my dear Watson.”
"Good to know I'm friends with a psychopath."
"Keep teasing me and you're going to be my first victim."
After buying the ice cream, with many protests from Jisung, you decided to walk through a nearby park. All the time, Jisung watches you closely. You looked good, but he knew you better than that.
“So…” He began cautiously. "How was your date?"
"He didn't show up." You said indifferently without taking your eyes off the path.
"What? He stood you up?” He shouted, attracting the attention of a few people passing by.
“Do you want to put this on the news? I don't think Australia has heard you yet.”
"Sorry." He mumbled. “I can't believe that jerk stood you up like that. If I ever see this boy again..."
Jisung clenched his fists in an attempt to contain the rage he was feeling. He didn't understand how anyone could be this insensitive with someone, let alone with someone like you.
"It's okay. It's not worth it."
Jisung stopped abruptly in front of you, blocking your way. He held your shoulders and stared deeply into your eyes. It seemed he was looking straight into your soul. He could have sworn he saw your breathing quicken.
“Are you sure you're okay? You know that dumbass doesn't deserve you, right?”
“I'm fine, Sung. I swear."
“And…” He said, waving his hand in a gesture that showed his displeasure with your answer.
“And… I want more ice cream!” You tried to walk away, but he stopped you, forcing you to remain still.
"Y/n!" Jisung whined, "You know he doesn't deserve you, right?"
"Well, maybe he has a reason for not showing up." You said, trying your best not to show your sadness.
"What are you trying to say?"
"Maybe he just noticed that I'm not that worth it."
You freed yourself from his grip and started walking in the direction you came. You were no longer in the mood to explore the park. The snow was falling more heavily, and the cold was becoming unbearable, not to mention that you didn't have the strength to face the pity in Jisung's eyes.
"Hey!"
You heard it before you felt something cold hit you in the back, making all the air leave your lungs. You turned slowly, trying to process what had happened. It all made sense when you saw Jisung standing there, with an air of indignation, holding a snowball in his hands. He looked like an angry squirrel.
“Aah! How you dare say something like that?” He asked indignantly. “Have you lost your mind? Do you want me to call the asylum to come and get you?”
“Stop being dramatic, I…” Before you could finish, another snowball hit your face. "HAN JISUNG!"
"Oh my God! Sorry, did I hurt you? It wasn't supposed to hit you in the face, I swear. You know my aim is horrible. Y/n? Y/n, please, sorry!” Jisung begged when you started getting closer to him with fury in your eyes.
Maybe he really would be your first victim.
Wasting no time, Jisung starts running desperately. He thought you were the cutest doll that had ever set foot in this world, but when you were angry… You looked exactly like Annabelle.
"I'm sorry!" He yelled.
Jisung believed he was a good runner, but he found out running in the snow wasn't for everyone when he tripped over the roots of a tree hidden by the snow. In the distance, he could hear your cute laugh, causing those damn butterflies to start flying in his stomach.
Well, maybe falling wasn't all that bad after all, he thought.
You approached him, still laughing, "I call this karma."
"Haha, very funny." He grunted.
"Come on, let me help you."
He took your hands, but when you pulled him up, he got up with too much force making you lose your balance. Instinctively, Jisung grabbed your waist and pressed your body against his.
His cheeks, a little red because of the cold, got even redder when he noticed your faces were inches apart.
You two stood there, lost in each other's eyes. Up that close, you could smell his strong cologne that always makes you feel a bit dizzy, see the little mole on his cheek and all his perfect imperfections. Your gaze suddenly fell on his lips.
Carefully, you placed your lips on his. Almost instantly, he was kissing you back. His lips were soft against yours, moving gently and slowly. His hands moved from your waist to your face, cupping your cheeks.
Everything felt perfect until you noticed you were kissing your best friend.
You quickly pulled away. Your heart was beating wildly in your chest, and all you could think about was how you had screwed up everything.
“Sung… I-I…” You felt so lost that you could barely form a single sentence. “Sorry. I shouldn't have…”
"You kissed me." He whispered, stunned.
"I'm sorry…"
"You kissed me." He repeated.
"I…"
"Oh my God, you kissed me!"
Unable to control all the happiness he was feeling, Jisung squeezed your body against him and spin you around, making you gasp. He was smiling so much that his cheeks hurt, but he didn't think he'd ever be able to stop smiling. His best friend, the girl he was head over heels, had kissed him. If he could, he would be setting off fireworks right now.
"I'm so happy," Jisung said, pulling you down. But he suddenly frowns, "Wait, that means you like me too, right? Or... Oh God, I got it all wrong, didn't I?"
You stared at him, stunned, "You like me?"
He nodded sheepishly, not trusting his words at that moment. Jisung wishes the ground would swallow him up, like in Alice in Wonderland. How could he think you would like him? Stupid, stupid, stupid!
"Are you serious? You're not saying that because you feel sorry for me, right? You know, for what happened on the date."
"What? No, of course not." He said without missing a beat. "You're everything to me y/n. You have always been by my side, supporting me and making me a better man. You're the kindest, bravest, funniest, and beautiful person I know. Damn, I think I'm in love with you. No, scratch that. I'm truly, madly, deeply in love with you."
You blushed deeply, with a big smile on your face.
"I love you too, Jisung. I wanted to tell you, but I..."
"You were afraid of ruining what we had," he added.
"Exactly. A little cliché, isn't it?”
"Just a little." He grimaced, making you both laugh. "Minho was right. We just complicated everything in the end."
"I think I just went on this date to distract myself, you know?" You said, absently playing with his fingers. “I think that's why I got so hurt when he didn't show up. I got frustrated. I just wanted to get over my feelings for you, but in the end, there I was, calling you like a fool 'cause I didn't know what else to do.”
"Hey, look at me." He cupped your cheeks tenderly. “It's okay now. I think I have to thank that guy for not showing up. He has no idea what he lost.”
Jisung brought your foreheads together, slowly rubbing his nose against yours.
"Can I call you mine now?" You whispered, afraid to break the moment.
"I've always been yours, baby."
Jisung leaned towards you, but you gently pushed him away.
"That was super cliché." You said, making him roll his eyes.
"Come on. I know you loved it."
"Yeah, I totally did."
"Can I get a kiss now?"
“Um, let me think… Sure.”
You grip his shirt tightly, pulling him close to you before pressing your lips on his in a passionate kiss. Jisung smiled into the kiss, happy to finally have the girl of his dreams in his arms.

pairing : bodyguard! Yuta Nakamoto x rich girl! Y/N
genre: angst, fluff, childhood friends au
word count: 2.7k words
summary : Yuta has his eyes on one girl. A person he cannot have.
a/n: based on this ask. you’ll probably guess that I intended this to be an angst fic so the ending is kinda off but I still hope you’ll like it anon.
“Can you please act like a proper lady?” the mother of the house scolded which only made Y/N sip her soup loudly. “Y/N!” she shouted, which made the younger girl flinch.
The oldest sighed loudly, closing his eyes. “Can’t we just enjoy our meal without shouting?” The younger girl snickered. “And Y/N, please listen to your mom. Act like a proper lady.”
She rolled her eyes at that. It’s not like she’s not an obedient child, she listens to what they want. She just hated how they put all this pressure on her to be a proper woman when it’s not what she wants. The disadvantage of being born into a rich family.
Her right wrapped fist hit the punching bag before her left fist hooked to hit its side. The door opened and she swings a punch, only to hit her childhood friend by the shoulder. “That is one weak punch.” Yuta teased, fixing the wrap of her right fist. “Why do you have to practice boxing when you have your bodyguard?” He whispered while fixing the other wrap. “I’d rather break all my bones than let someone lay a finger on you.”
She laughed. “For someone so strong and muscly, you have such a soft spot for me.” She swing another punch and he quickly dodged it. Yuta held her wrist, gently pulling her to the side but Y/N kept on coming to him with punches. She hit his shoulder once but he didn’t flinch making her repeat the punching.
Yuta stepped backward, laughing at her attempts. His foot reached the edge of the mat at the same time as Y/N landed a punch on his chest. He fell down on his back, dragging Y/N with him. The girl grinned, “I think I just knocked you down.”
She sounded so proud of herself that it’s comical. Yuta held both her arms, pushing her down to the mat. Him, hovering above her. “The first rule is to never put your guard down.” He can feel her warm breath against his lips. Her fruity smell arousing his senses. A loud heartbeat, he wasn’t sure if it was hers or his, ringing on his ears.
Yuta stood up as if he’s on fire. Y/N chuckling while lying down on the mat. He reached a hand to help her stand, letting go when she stood up. “Luckily, you will always be here for me.” The side of his lips curled up.
He didn’t know when it started. Maybe it started even before he realized it. Since his parents work with her family, he became her first friend. When she went to high school, she refused to have bodyguards following her every move so Yuta, being her classmate, became her personal bodyguard. The main reason why he bulked up.
But it should end now. He can’t be her personal bodyguard forever. Because from the little girl he first met when they were six years old, Y/N had grown to be a pretty woman. And he’s just a guy. A guy who is attracted to the person he needed to guard.
-----
“I’m sorry,” Y/N said, holding her shoes while running outside their mansion and into the car. Yuta laughed, closing the door behind him then entering the driver’s seat. “Is mom mad?”
He shook his head, adjusting the rearview mirror to watch if she’s comfortable in her seat. She was putting on her sandals, the skirt of her dress hiking up her thigh that made him cough. “If she asks, just tell her your piano class ended late.”
“But I don’t have piano classes.”
“Exactly.”
The girl smiled. This was one of the things she liked about hanging out with Yuta. Her parents believe him more than her and he’s good at making up excuses.
It’s not her fault that she enjoyed watching the boxing match on TV and she forgot about the party that her mom kept on reminding her. Honestly, she would rather just stay at home and practice her boxing skills rather than stand in that posh party and act like her mom’s Barbie doll. Why is this the fate of a chaebol’s daughter?
The car stopped at the entrance of a posh hotel, the valet already opening the door for her. “Are you coming up after parking the car?” she asked but Yuta just shook his head while reminding her to keep her slippers on the side so he can hide them in the trunk. “What if I get bored?”
Yuta chuckled. “I’ll be drinking coffee in the lobby.” She grinned before getting out of the car and closing the door behind her.
The elevator ride is boring already but when she came inside the venue, the party made her yawn. Her mom scolded her for arriving late then smiling at her friends which she greeted with a fake smile on her face. She introduced her to one bachelor after another, obnoxious jerks that she knew since she’s a kid. “Didn’t I told you to wear makeup?” Her mom scolded and she hissed, closing her eyes. She’s pissed off that she’s hungry and her feet are aching real bad. She just wanted to go home.
Maybe she can make a run for it and go to Yuta in the lobby.
But her mom held her arm, whispering that she should stop being a brat. It wasn’t until her dad said that they should go home since he’s almost drunk that a smile crept on her lips. She almost hurried outside the hotel, grinning when Yuta opened the door for her. “You look like you had fun.”
She rolled her eyes at that, “I almost died of boredom.” He chuckled before she got inside the car, Yuta opening the front door for Y/N’s dad.
The car was quiet that surprised him. Normally, her mom will keep on scolding her for her behavior at the party. Maybe she was being obedient today. “Yuta, your dad told me about your family leaving.” He saw movement from the rearview mirror and shrugged it. “Let me know if you need anything.” Yuta nodded, thanking the older man.
“We know some doctors in Japan. Maybe we can help.” The older woman from the backseat claimed but Yuta just shook his head. He already feels bad about his family moving so suddenly, he’ll feel worse if he let them help his ailing grandmother. This was a decision that his parents had been pondering for a while and when their employer agreed to let them go back to Japan, he can’t say no.
The car stopped in front of their mansion, the couple getting out of the car but the girl refused to move and even closed the door of the car. She was glaring at Yuta, arms crossed in front of her chest. “Why didn’t you tell me that you’re leaving?”
Yuta sighed. “I can’t find the right timing to tell you.” She rolled her eyes once again. “I’m sorry but grandma is already old and she wants us to go back to Japan.”
“Can’t you stay?”
“I can’t, Y/N.” He hissed. “My parents are already old. They need me more.”
The girl pursed her lips and he cautiously met her eyes from the rearview mirror. “When are you leaving?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Already?” Yuta nodded. The sooner, the better. “Morning?” Again, he nodded. Y/N pouted, squinting her eyes at him. “Can you wake me up before you leave?”
He smiled, laughing while he turned to her. “You can wake up by yourself.” But she shook her head. “I’ll wake you up tomorrow. Promise.” She grinned, even repeating that he needed to wake her up before leaving the car.
Yuta sighed, leaning in his seat while taking a silver chain from inside his pocket. His thumb tracing the heart pendant. This was supposed to be his gift for her but seeing as how the other guys from wealthy families gave her diamonds and expensive things, he hid it for months. A knock on the window startled him, hastily putting the necklace in his pocket. He rolled down the window to reveal his dad, smiling at him. “I’ll just park the car.”
He waited for him outside the mansion as he returned the keys, closing their door in the process. “You know you can stay if you want.” His dad started that made Yuta shake his head. It was his decision to come with them. He can’t stay here and be away from them. They needed him. “I’m sorry, Yuta.”
“What for, dad?”
“I should have worked harder and maybe our family is wealthier.” He claimed that surprised the younger guy. His dad is thinking about these things? “You wouldn’t have a problem loving her.”
A smile crept on Yuta’s face. Of course, they know about it. Everyone does. Except her.
“It was your mom who found out. You even worked part-time jobs just to get her a present and I felt bad.” Yuta shook his head. They’re the parents he wished for. He doesn’t want anything to change. “Did you at least tell her your feelings?”
Once again, he shook his head. “It’s just a one-sided crush, dad.” The older tapped his shoulder. “This will pass.” But even he had a hard time believing the words coming out of his own mouth.
He promised to wake her up and although he’s in front of her room, he can’t have the courage to knock on the door and tell her that they’re leaving. It’s just a crush. He kept on telling himself. This will pass. With a heavy sigh, he put down the necklace on the floor and went downstairs.
“Did you wake her up?” Yuta smiled, shaking his head. "That girl, really." The older woman was about to leave when the younger stopped her, saying that it's fine. His mom stared at him in worry.
Yuta went inside the cab while her parents thanked the other couple. This is it, he thought. His goodbye to her. His thumb grazed against her smiling photo as his phone wallpaper. His parents both looked at him when they went inside the car, asking if he's alright and he nodded then closed his phone.
As the car started moving away from the mansion, his phone lit up with her name. He's a coward. He shouldn't be her bodyguard. He closed the phone, removing his sim card and breaking it in half.
Yuta's goodbye to her. The love of his life.
The last few years were so good to Yuta. His uncle sent him to a university in Tokyo where he took a course in business administration and start a small business of his own. He met a lot of good people, nice girls from his line of work but sometimes he would trail to thoughts of her. Her smile, her eyes.
Whenever winter comes, he would think of her grinning excitedly at the thought of snow. When spring comes, he finds himself smiling at the cherry blossoms. Wanting her to see them with her own two eyes. Whenever summer comes, he wished she’s here with him and eating delicious foods at festivals. When it’s autumn, he would dream of them walking under the shedding trees and holding each other’s hands. Then the cycle repeats itself.
He missed her more as time pass.
Can he even see her again? Why can’t he fully say goodbye to his feelings for her?
“I heard there are pretty girls at the party. We should definitely check it out.” One of his business partners claimed, referring to a party happening to a famous hotel in Tokyo. “Maybe this is your chance to forget about that girl.”
Maybe it is. He should focus on forgetting about her. Maybe this time, he can finally say goodbye to the thoughts of her.
Surprisingly the more he stayed at the party, the more he was reminded of her. Is this how it feels like being the ‘Barbie doll’? Just standing, smiling, and greeting people when you want to go home and just rest. Seeing how some creepy rich old men were walking to where younger girls are, he thought that these chaebol’s daughters should really have a bodyguard of their own. How is she? Did she find another bodyguard?
Yuta excused himself outside to get some breath of fresh air. This is dangerous, he kept on thinking about her. He’s failing his mission. “Y/N!” someone called that made him turn to the owner of the voice. A guy in simple shirt and jeans, very different from the semi-formal attire in the party, was looking around the garden. “Y/N, your mom is going to kill me.”
He really said her name, didn’t he? Before he can walk to where he is, he heard a small sound behind the bushes then some movement. Curious, he peeked behind only to get punched in the face. Hard. “Oh shit, I’m sorry.” Is he hurt that much? Why is he seeing her? “Yuta?”
“Y/N!” the sound got closer that made her pull him to hide behind the bushes.
“What are you…?” She put a hand over her mouth to cover his voice. Their distance so close that he can feel her warmth and the fruity smell that he always associated with her. A loud heartbeat ringing in his ears but now, he’s sure that it was his.
When the guy went inside the party, Y/N breathed hard in relief. Her head lay on Yuta’s shoulder, catching her breath. “That was so close.”
He lightly pushed her, moving to the side to create a distance from the two of them. “What were you doing?”
“Hiding.” she said with a grin. “He’s going to return me to mom and introduce me to some Japanese hotshot." he rolled her eyes while fixing her skirt. "I don't even know how to speak Japanese, I just passed class because…" She lightly glanced at him, her eyes widening in surprise. "Your lip is bleeding."
Yuta touched his bottom lip, a bright red tint appearing on his thumb. "Maybe because of your punch." She repeatedly apologized, handing him her handkerchief. "Have you been practicing your punches?"
"I'm training to be a boxer to join the Olympics."
"Seriously?"
The girl squinted her eyes at him. "I'm stuck with that lanky guy who can't even land a punch. How am I supposed to protect myself?"
Yuta laughed then pulled her down in an attempt to hide her from the guy looking for her. "Why are you stuck with that guy anyways? Your dad knew better."
"Well, my bodyguard left me without even saying goodbye when he promised me..."
"I'm sorry." Yuta whispered. "Saying goodbye is harder than staying with you." He breathed heavily. "I'm falling deeper for the girl I'm supposed to protect. I'm scared I might hurt you." He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
She rolled her eyes at that. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I'm a nobody and you're way out of my league, Y/N."
"You're stupid, Yuta. I didn't even sleep that night and waited for you to knock on the door that morning." She lightly punched his shoulder, earning a yelp from him. Tears were streaming from her eyes that startled him. "I even went to Osaka to look for you."
He held her cheeks, wiping the tears away with his thumbs. “I’m sorry, Y/N.” He mumbled. “I can’t get you out of my mind as well.” He held her in his arms, her necklace hanging loosely from her neck. He traced the heart pendant, smiling at her. “It looks good on you.”
She punched his shoulder another time, surprising Yuta. “Don’t hide from me again. I’ll kill you, Yuta.”
The guy rubbed the spot she just punched, “I don’t think I can be your bodyguard anymore. Let me just guard your heart instead.” Another punch and he just chuckled, pulling her in his arms again.
Yuta smiled. Mission failed.
He really can’t say goodbye to the love of his life.

On the second day of your first year of high school you meet Kita Shinsuke.
Quiet, collected, Kita Shinsuke.
It had been completely by luck of the draw. You could remember your nerves, still afraid of navigating the ins and outs of high school when there was a gentle tap on your shoulder in the first year hallway.
“You dropped this.” He’d placed the notebook in your hands before you could stutter out a thank you, left to watch as he approached the Miya twins with a stern look.
To call it love at first sight may have been an exaggeration, but at the time you couldn’t help but color it as such.
His cool demeanor and dedication to a sport that hardly rewarded him was far more admirable than you would’ve liked to admit. So you had found yourself at few more volleyball matches than someone who never cared for the sport.
And when Miya Atsumu came careening into the classroom one frigid morning spouting nonsense and demanding one of the girls in your class volunteer to be the volleyball club’s team manager you couldn’t have stopped yourself from raising your hand if you tried.
He wasn’t even captain yet, but the two of you worked closely. Staying behind to clean up after the raucous first years, careless second years and overworked third years.
The only ones dedicated enough.
Somewhere in between those late nights cleaning and those early mornings prepping, between the quiet whispers and watching him become more and more dependable.
You had fallen in love.
It hadn’t surprised you, you knew you were doomed from the start. Since that one lucky day in the first year hallway, you knew it had been a matter of when not if.
There had been more than enough opportunities to confess your feelings, to free yourself of the endless nights of pining, of being tormented by all the what ifs and almosts.
Yet you watched in perfect silence as your first year melted away. Watched as Kita earned the right to being called captain, and let yourself be consumed by the role of the doting team manager.
Once again you had found yourself letting the months roll by, allowing your feelings to rot away at your insides, suffering in the way he seemed to form a kind smile solely for you, living for the quiet praise and approving nods he’d occasionally offer.
“Why don’t you just confess?” Your friend had said, tired of the sad way you would carry yourself after a particularly taxing day of spending too much time in Kita’s proximity.
“Nationals, I’ll tell him when we win nationals.” You promised, trying to convince yourself that it would be the right time, a poor attempt at trying to conjure up a speck of bravery.
By the time Nationals had arrived you had prepared your heart to the best of your ability, ready to see your team take their rightful spot as the champions.
And when they didn’t, whatever courage you had cobbled together shattered. So you sulked. Standing on the balcony of the hotel, staring up at the light polluted Tokyo sky, shaking from the biting cold.
“You’ll get sick like that.” You hadn’t thought your blood could run any colder until his voice interrupted whatever pitiful thoughts had been running through your mind.
“I-It’s...fine.” You hoped he chalked down the stammer in your words from the weather over nerves.
“Mmm. Don’t stay out here too long.” You nodded your head, keeping your eyes focused on a flickering star struggling to make its presence known when there was a weight on your shoulders. You couldn’t help but snap your eyes down, the familiar shade of maroon now hanging over your body.
And what should’ve finally been said that night was left in the air, left struggling like that little star in the sky.
With a heavy heart you watched him graduate, watched as time kept moving without bothering to let you catch up.
◇ ◆ ◇
Years later you can say with confidence that your school girl crush has aptly faded, telling yourself that there was never a need to confess.
Until your phone beeps late one Thursday night.
Engagement dinner.
Your eyes scan over the text, once, twice, again and again until you lose count, until your chest feels tight and your face burns and what were once feelings you thought had faded start rearing their ugly head.
You won’t allow whatever leftover hormonal thoughts poke and prod at what you’ve built up. You’re older, wiser and most importantly you’ve moved on.
So you clean up nicely, put on something nice but not too nice, just a touch of perfume and only check twice in the mirror before you walk out the door to call a Lyft.
The restaurant is unfamiliar, nestled in a cute little neighborhood. It’s fitting for Kita, it’s homey and cozy but nice enough for the occasion.
You try not to choke as he approaches you, a grin too large splaying across his usually serious face, oddly enough it fits, furthermore it hurts.
It takes you a second too long to notice the woman beside him, the sight of his arm tucked behind her back as she curls into his side, she offers you a shy yet refined smile. You barely catch her name, the overwhelming sensation of the past creeping up on you, tearing down whatever walls you had carefully built over the years.
They show you to the table, Aran, Akagi and Gin already there with their charming and familiar smiles, yet the lovely reunion is unable to distract you from the way he pulls out her chair, making sure she’s properly settled before he takes his place beside her once more.
You think of the maroon jacket that had weighed so comfortably on your shoulders that freezing Tokyo night, you think of the words that laid on the tip of your tongue, so close yet so far as Kita patted your head and returned back inside.
The lost opportunity.
Only to have the once sweet memory dashed away at the lightness of your left ring finger, as you’re forced to witness the woman beside Kita rest a perfectly manicured hand atop his, the ruby gemstone set on a golden band gleaming so beautifully in the low restaurant lighting.
“Captain! Sorry we’re late! Congratulations.” Miya Atsumu with his usual loudmouth tears through your concealed pity party, a small smile finding its way to your lips at the way Osamu trudges behind him with that special irritated look reserved solely for his brother.
“It’s just Kita, I haven’t been your captain in years.” He rises from his seat, taking his bride-to-be’s hand and introducing her to the ever famous Miya twins.
“Sure sure, manager-chan! Looking good!” He’s by your side in seconds, thick arms already pulling you into a bone crushing hug.
“You’re gonna break her ‘Tsumu.”
“Shut it ‘Samu, I would never.” His hold only tightens at the statement, the rippling of his muscles against your body causing an undeniable rush of heat to bloom across your body.
“Enough of that.” You laugh, wiggling out of his grip with an exasperated laugh.
A few more former players of Inarizaki pour into the restaurant, old memories tossed around with endearing fondness and one too many congratulatory toasts leaves your heart aching worse than before, regret eating away at you, the inevitable question of what if cycling though your thoughts.
“Doing okay?” Atsumu’s closeness is nothing new, somewhere over the years your boundaries had skewed, his face being a little too close was to be expected at this point.
“Sure.” It’s a noncommittal reply that Atsumu would normally call you out on, but he accepts it only after letting his gaze linger on you for a moment.
The minutes tick by as Kita retells the picturesque proposal he had carefully planned, unfiltered adoration and fondness adorning his eyes.
Lovestruck.
An expression you had wished this man to have focused on you just a few years ago.
What if?
The question taunts you, what if you hadn’t been a coward? What if you had said it that night? Or any other moment spent by his side? Would it be you?
Another sip of the bitter wine offers no reprieve from the taunting thoughts, whatever mask you had been donning the entirety of the night starts to wear down, you can feel it slipping out of place.
“Boy am I sweatin’!” Atsumu barks out, knocking his shoulder against yours, true enough his cheeks are tinted a soft blush, eyes glossy from one too many beers.
The exclamation causes a few snorts and chuckles around the table, a scathing comment from Osamu and a faux jeer from Suna.
“Maybe you need a walk.” You mumble, picking at the food you had long abandoned earlier in the meal.
“Ya know what? You might be onto somethin’, let’s go.” His fingers are around your wrist before you can register what he’s saying.
“Atsumu what?”
“C’mon, say bye!”
“Atsumu!”
“You be safe, thank you for coming.” Your head spins as Kita offers that same smile, still a little too wide as he offers a nod and turns back to his fiancee. Atsumu tugs at you again, only for you to shake him off, turning properly to the happy couple.
“Congratulations Kita-san. I wish you both,” You swallow the bitter lump in your throat, “I wish you both unending happiness.”
You’re turning on your heel before you can receive a reply, biting back whatever pent up emotions threaten to spill over as you rush out of the restaurant, practically running down the sidewalk fueled by the desperate need to get as far as you possibly can.
“Hey hey slow down!” You don’t bother slowing, let alone stopping, knowing fully well the professional athlete chasing after you will catch up in a matter of seconds. “I said slow down.”
The second his hand touches your shoulder whatever walls left standing come crumbling down.
“It hurts.” It’s nothing more than a whisper before he’s turning you around to face him, a hand still planted on your shoulder as the tears that have been welled up for nearly five years begin to fall. The tears you hadn’t allowed yourself to shed.
“I know.” His voice is pained as he draws you closer, letting you close the distance as you lean against him. The trail of tears burns against your cheeks, they’re filled with shame, with unspoken words, with unrequited love.
It’s almost poetic, the way you two stand there in a broken silence under the flickering light of one of the odd stores dotting the street. It feels like hours pass by, the initial ache in your chest starting to lessen as you meet his gaze.
“Could you... consider me?” There’s something profoundly sad in his eyes, an exhaustion from years spent quietly resigned from confessing a truth that you were all too familiar with dotting his expression.
“I,” can’t, “don’t know.”
“I know that I’m not him, I don’t think I can be anything close, but just, do you think you could?” There isn’t the slightest trace of his boyish charm nor the cool demeanor he normally holds in serious situations. He feels smaller, more exposed and for the first time in all your years of knowing him.
You can see weakness.
“I can’t make any promises.” It feels almost too soon, a little rushed for you to be able to make sense of anything that’s transpired, you don’t want to hurt him, you don’t want to lead him on.
“I can wait,” a wistful quirk of his lips rekindles the ache from before as an expression you’ve surely worn in the past washes over his face, “I’ve gotten pretty good at it.”
And in a matter of two, maybe three seconds, the world seems to tilt, just a few degrees, just enough for the angle to change, for that memory of the muddled Tokyo sky to shift a few inches to the right from the struggling star to the one shining in softly in the distance.
Your hand moves before you can even think, fingers curling around Atsumu’s chilled ones, intertwining them carefully as you offer him something akin to understanding, something a little deeper, not quite sure what you’re truly conveying.
“Just for a little bit longer.”

The manager
Kuroo Tetsuro x reader
one shot, fluff
Hope you guys enjoy this, and if you do, you can check out my other fanfics!! ;)
———————————————————————
The end of class bell rings, and you hurry down the stairs to your locker. You quickly grab your manager uniform and walk quickly to the gym. You change, hurrying as much as you can and enter the gym, only to find out you’re the first one there. And you thought you were gonna be late... These boys never fail to impress you, except not always in a good way.
You start setting up the court, until you hear loud chattering outside. They’re finally here, these little ray of sunshine that form the Nekoma volleyball team. You peak at them from the window, waving back at Lev and making accidental eye contact with Kuroo. You quickly turn away, concentrating on the nets you were putting up. You’d never tell him, but all his flirting actually has an effect on you.
The boys enter the court after passing through the lockers and you greet them, before going to sit on the bench for a while. Today was exhausting, and you know you’ll have a lot of homework later on tonight. But even though it seems like more work, being the manager is actually a break to you. It’s peaceful, fun and distracting.
Lost in thoughts, you don’t realize Kuroo is standing besides you, leaning on the wall.
“Hey care to toss me some balls, y/k?”, he says.
“Oh uh sure thing Kuroo”, you say, a bit startled but happy someone needs help.
You start tossing to him in silence, and this goes on until the end of practice. He’s usually so chatty… you start to wonder if something might be wrong.
After practice ends, you pull Kuroo’s arm to make him stay after the others. Surprised, he turns around to face you. You’re extremely close to each other and you quickly take a step back.
“is something the matter, y/k?", he says softly, walking close to you again.
“W- well actually i was wondering if everything was ok, you’re usually so chatty and i-”, you start, but he interrupts you.
“Heh and to think that this was gonna be you asking me out… guess i was mistaken.” He looks away, runs a hand through his hair than looks straight back at you. “I’ll do it myself then. Are you free tomorrow?”
“what”, you say, extremely confused. This is probably a joke, right? It’s Kuroo after all.
“Meet me at the school gate after class”, he winks and leaves, leaving you standing like an idiot.
You stay up a few hours thinking about it all, and decide to go. You do like him after all…
———
The next day, you barely pay attention in class, chewing on pens and worrying. Time goes by so slowly in this stupid school.
Finally the last bell rings, and you dreadfully walk to the school gates. Kuroo is already there, and he puts an arm over your shoulder when you arrive.
“What are you doing?!?”, you whisper.
“Mmh well this is a date y/k, do i need to explain to you how it works?”, he says mockingly.
“Oh shut up. You know what i meant. People will talk and-”. Kuroo cuts you off again.
“Relaaax, are you embarrassed? You should be honoured to stand close to me you know.”, he says, still mocking you.
You sigh and let go of your worries. A few people are staring, but it isn’t as bad as you thought. Kuroo is kind of a star after all.
He takes you to a sweet ramen shop, and while you save a seat by the window, he orders for both of you. You eat in silence for a few minutes until Kuroo breaks it.
“C’mon, you got nothing to say? This is nice, don’t you think?”, he asks.
“Yeah, yeah it is… but what will the others think? Have you told them?”
“You need to calm down, y/k. What does it all matter? We do what we want. And i’ve been wanting this for a long time”
You sigh and laugh a bit. He grabs your hand on the table and looks at you with sweet eyes, a stare you’d never seen before.
“I’m… glad you asked, Kuroo. But i… i have to go. My parents expect me home. I’ll see you at practice.”, you quickly say, leaving no room for an answer. You bowl of ramen slowly goes cold on the table, a disappointed Kuroo staring at it.
———
You avoid Kuroo for the next days, even skipping practice one day. You feel ashamed of the way you acted, and aren’t ready to face him just yet. You don’t know what you want to do with this situation… ask for a second date saying you messed up or simply apologize and never talk about it again?
God this is so stupid. You’ve liked him for so long and now that it could finally happen, you’re running away like a coward. You’ll face him after practice tonight. But for now, you head to the library to do homework.
At practice, you talk a bit with Lev, that way you’re sure to not accidentally stare at Kuroo. You then toss to Kenma, often looking at the clock, dreading the end of practice.
After 2 hours or so, they leave for to change in the locker room. Luckily for you, the last ones out are Kenma and Kuroo. You make a sign to Kenma to leave, and he nods at you. He might have smiled, but it’s hard to tell with him. Kuroo goes to follow him, but you grab his wrist.
“Hey um, Kuroo? I wanted to talk to you.”, you say, breath trembling a bit.
“It’s ok y/k, i just thought you might like me too, but i was wrong, and i hope it doesn’t make things weird.”, he replies, avoiding your stare and fidgeting with his hands.
“Kuroo! it’s not that. I… I do like you. I just got so worried about how it would affect the team, and i just kind of panicked, but i regret what i did, i really do, i shouldn’t have avoided you like this-”
You get interrupted by his lips crashing on yours softly. You kiss back, running a hand in his hair, the other oh his chest. He holds your waist firmly, pulling you closer. After a few minutes, you part and both feel a bit embarrassed.
“How about we give it another go? Tomorrow, you and me, we can do anything you like”, he says softly grabbing your hands.
“Sure, i promise i won’t run this time. But i’d like to take things slow… Is that ok with you?”, you reply.
“Of course. I’ll come pick you up at 5”, he winks and leaves. You smile to yourself, so happy you didn’t screw everything up.
———
At five pm, you are impatiently waiting in the living room. Pacing around between the couch and the TV, you sometimes stop in front of the mirror to check how you look, fixing your makeup or flattening a stray piece of hair.
Finally the doorbell rings. Of course Kuroo would be fashionably late. You open the door, and he looks so good in his casual wears. A black hoodie, track pants and white baskets.
You greet each other and walk side by side to a nice local place near. You talk but it feels a bit fake. You sit down, order, and the conversation starts to get more casual. You talk about volleyball, classes, your friends, etc.
Kuroo gets the check, and he walks you home in the pale September moonlight. Your fingertips graze against his hand, but remembering what you said about taking it slow, he resists the urge to hold your hand.
Arriving in front of your house, he only murmures a gentle “goodnight”. He turns around and walks away, hands in his pockets.
“Kuroo! Wait!”, you suddenly scream. Your lips have been missing his since yesterday and you’re not about to let him slip away.
“Fuck taking it slow.”, you whisper as you grab him and press your lips on his in a passionate kiss. You feel him grin, and he pulls away a second to say “now that’s what i like”, before kissing you again.
You stay under the moonlight for long instants, talking, kissing, allowing each other to finally enjoy each other.

Lovely Noya
Tumblr media
❀ AN: I’m been trying to upload this since yesterday here’s hoping this works !!  This prompt is based off Lovely Complex, so yes Noya is Otani in this but the plot was changed to fit Noya’s personality. Reader is 5′8 and Nishinoya  5′2 or 4′10 with his hair down as Wiki states.
✿ Warning: None fluffy goodness. Tall Fem Reader x Nishinoya
❀ Summary: Of all the different times Nishinoya saw you how was he suppose to know that you were leaving a piece of yourself inside his heart?
✾✾✾✾✾✾✾
1 time.
Nishinoya rested his face against the wooden desk as the sensei went on and on about how important 2nd year was going to be for graduation and eventually college. But really, he tuned it out, the defeat at Inter high still fresh in his mind. He opened his muted brown eyes to watch as the clouds hazily moved across the horizon. He jerked out of his musing when his seatmate next to him suddenly got up, the chair scraping across the floor, and in doing so creating such a horrific sound that he couldn’t help but wince.
“L/N, read the next paragraph please,” the sensei commanded.
“Haiiiiiii.”
Nishinoya couldn’t help but sit up straighter, did girls know how cute they sounded when they talked like that? He proceeded to pay attention as Y/N continued to read in accented but clear English so much so he couldn’t help feeling envious. Despite years of having English as a mandatory class he still sucked at it.
“And that’s why the Dutch succeeded in trading with a closed-off Japan where other nations failed,” Y/N finished and tucking her skirt, sat elegantly back down in her chair.
“Alright, who’s next to read?”
Nishinoya ducked his head and prayed silently it wouldn’t be him.
“Akira, read the next paragraph!” the gruff teacher barked.
Nishinoya let out a big sigh of relief and slumped over. He heard muffled giggles and he saw Y/N covering her mouth with her hand. When she finished, she looked over to see him staring at her. She jolted in surprise.
“Oh gomen, you just looked so relieved,” she said with a grin.
Nishinoya just grinned back at her. “Don’t worry about it. I’m used to girls laughing at me.” He realized with a depressing clarification and slumped even more.
Y/N blinked at him and leaned forward resting her face on her palm. “What do you mean by that?”
He quickly shook his head. “N-never mind that, Y/N. We should pay attention now before we get in trouble.”
She flashed him a quick smile showing off a dimple only on her right cheek.
“If you say so. And I’m glad I don’t have to correct you on my name! I don’t really like my last name, Noya-kun.”
N-noya-kun??! His cheeks flushed red and he tucked his head behind his textbooks so she couldn’t see the effect her simple words had on him.
L/N Y/N was someone he never shared a class with, and he wasn’t close with her either. Well, he wasn’t close with any girls, but still, the fact they were neighbors would mean they should at least exchange pleasantries, right? But she always arrived before he did and left later than him, so they never really got a chance to communicate. In fact, this was the first time they had an entire conversation since school started. Maybe he should make more of an effort to talk to her. She seemed pretty nice and he could always use more female friends since he had none.
He was jolted out of his thoughts as the bell rang and signaled the class had ended. Nishinoya leaped from his chair with a “yatta!” and quickly picked up his bag. Just as he was about to go rushing out of the classroom, he remembered his previous notions about making friends.
“Bye-bye, Y/N!”
Y/N looked up startled, just as she was putting away her books and a small smile blossomed on her face.
“Mata ne, Noya-kun!” And she turned back to her bag.
Just in time too as his face once again quickly felt hot and he ran off trying to reach the volleyball gym in record time.
4 times.
Nishinoya sat glumly in his seat as everybody trickled in for the morning classes. Asahi, the ace of their team, hadn’t shown up again, not even seeing Kiyoko-san’s face had lifted his mood that morning. Their loss was even harder to cope with Asahi not showing up like a coward.
He glanced up when he saw Y/N pull out the chair next to him and sit down at her desk.
“Ohaiyo, Noya-kun!” she greeted cheerfully.
“Hey….” he replied and sighed.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing just some volleyball club stuff….”
“Oh! You guys had a tournament in March. How did it go?”
Nishinoya furrowed his eyebrows and asked, “wait how did you know about the game? Are you a volleyball fan too?”
Y/N waved off his inquiry. “No, I’m on the student council and I know pretty much all of the clubs’ activities for budget concerns.”
“Right well, we lost.”
Y/N’s face wilted and the smile on her face vanished. It looked wrong on her somehow, he wanted her to smile all the time.
“I’m sorry to hear that, but you’re in your second year! You have the tournament a few months from now on and even next year to do better.”
“I suppose,” he muttered and fiddled with the pencil on his desk.
Nishinoya peeked at Y/N from the corner in his eye and saw that she looked like she wanted to say something several times but stopped herself.
“Hey, can I ask you a question?”
Y/N perked up. “Of course!”
“There’s a teammate that took the loss really badly and he’s not showing up to practice anymore! And the thing is it’s not his fault we lost but he’s taking it personally. The team relies on him a lot and everybody’s down. I don’t know what to do.”
He didn’t know why he was asking her or why he was even opening to her, but it was a question weighing on him heavily. Sure, he was a boisterous guy that never let things like defeat keep him down, but Asahi was different. Nishinoya didn’t understand what the ace was going through, and he was kind of confused on how to make things right. Especially since he was harboring his own guilt. But it felt right to ask her. Especially since Y/N was a popular girl that many of their classmates relied on.
“Well, maybe you should start by talking to him and telling him how you feel.  Start with exactly what you just told me and eventually persuade him to come back,” she suggested.
“Are you sure it’s as simple as that?” He couldn’t help but be skeptical. Where were the dramatic crying and wholesome man hugs?
“Yup! Every time the student council members argue amongst themselves, I always act as a mediator being the Vice President. We always start by being honest with each other and then finding a compromise.”
Nishinoya nodded. “Alright! I’ll go talk to him right after classes are done.”
Just as he was about to ask her if she could help him with last night’s homework (more like copy), Mai-san, their class representative, had interrupted them.
“Oy Y/N-chan! I have a couple of questions about the upcoming spring festival’s budget,” she waved Y/N over to her desk.
Nishinoya watched as Y/N stood up and made her way across the classroom. He was startled to notice her height for the first time. How tall was she exactly? She made him feel like an ant underneath her heel. Furthermore, how the hell did he not notice until now?
He watched as all the girls and even a few guys in their class gravitated to Y/N’s friendly nature. She was a natural-born leader that reassured many by her presence. She felt like a gentler version of Daichi-san, to be honest.
As the morning bell rang, all the students made it back to their desk on time. When Y/N sat down at her own, he leaned over and whispered, “Y/N, can I see your math homework from yesterday?”
She didn’t even look at him as she replied while writing down notes, “you can’t keep relying on me, Noya-kun. Otherwise, you will fail your tests.”
He softly brought his hands together and bowed. “Onegaiiii! I promise I’ll make it up to you! How about a popsicle?”
She reached over and pulled one of the notebooks before passing it over to him.
“Try not to make it too obvious, ok?”
“Don’t worry! I’m great at copying we won’t get caught.”
Y/N shook her head. “I wish you would be just as good at math as you are at copying,” she muttered under her breath.
When Nishinoya finally finished he couldn’t help but let out a relieved shout.
“Oy Nishinoya! What are you doing? Pay attention or you’ll start failing before the semester even begins!” The sensei barked at the interruption.
The class broke out into giggles and Y/N couldn’t help the small smile at Nishinoya’s expense as his face crumbled from being scolded.
 6 times.
Nishinoya blinked slowly as he laid on the couch watching another comedy rerun of some old comedy duo that were famous in the ’90s. He quirked his head when he heard another noise. This time the doorbell rang clearly and awoke him from his stupor.
He scratched the itch on his behind as he slowly made his way to the front door.
“Alright, alright! I’m coming no need to keep ringing the doorbell.”
He reached and unlocked the door before turning the knob. There stood Y/N on his doorstep still wearing her school uniform.
“Y/N, what are you doing here?”
She shot him an annoyed look and planted her hands on her hips.
“When I told you to go talk to your teammate, I didn’t tell you to start a fight and get suspended, Noya-kun!”
He sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. “Gomen! But in my defense, it wasn’t a fight, and I didn’t mean to break anything.”
She tsked and reached in her bag to pull out some papers.
“Here, that’s the work for this week that you missed. I live close by, so I got the responsibility.”
He tried to sound enthusiastic as he thanked her, but her face gave him the impression she wasn’t buying it.
“You aren’t going to do it until the last minute, am I right? And you won’t even do a good job on it either because you would be in a hurry to finish it.”
“T-that’s not true and you know it,” he lamely defended himself before conceding. “Ok, fine you win.”
“What am I going to do with you?” she asked shaking her head. “Can I come in?”
Nishinoya was startled at her request for a minute before consenting. “Sure!”
He watched wide-eyed as her head almost touched the doorframe, she was that tall and he couldn’t help but stare up at her as she passed.
“Ne, Y/N how tall are you?”
“172 cms. It’s not that tall though. Chichiue’s even taller. He has to bend down so that he doesn’t hit door frames most of the time.”
Not that tall? Nishinoya wished most of the time he was able to at least reach the glassware on the lower shelves in the kitchen and she said 172 cms wasn’t tall! Genetics just aren’t fair, are they?
As Y/N collaborated to help him finish this week’s homework, he failed to notice the stars in Y/N’s eyes and the soft blush on her face each time their hands touched. And that would prove to be her undoing.
 10 times.
Nishinoya cackled at Tanaka who was still lamenting tripping over a volleyball in the gym.  His shaved head still sported a nasty bump that was beginning to purple, with a mischievous grin Nishinoya reached over to poke it. Tanaka let out a yelp and smacked his hand away.
“Don’t do that!”
“Gomen Ryu, it looks like you have another head growing out of your skull,” he gasped out between his chuckles.
“Ah! If it isn’t Noya-kun!” a voice called out.
He turned around to see Y/N walking towards him. She was probably heading home as well.
“Yo Y/N! You’re going home early today?”
“Un! The President let me go since I finished my work early.”
Nishinoya turned around to see Tanaka pulling at his sleeve and looking at him eagerly.
“Oh, this is L/N Y/N my classmate and this is Tanaka Ryunosuke, my teammate.”
“Nice to meet you!” Y/N said cheerfully and bowed.
Ryu however just bowed in a hurry and turned away. Y/N gave Nishinoya a curious look which he only shrugged at. He had no idea why Ryu was acting weird.
Suddenly he remembered the favor he owed her from when she helped me finish his work. He fumbled through his pockets, pulling out a Gari Gari-kun’s winner popsicle stick.
“Here, Y/N! My treat for you!” he said eagerly and put it in her hand.
“Wow. A free popsicle when I took time out of my day to help you,” she deadpanned.
He only chuckled nervously and scratched his head. “I know. I know. I owe you.”
“Never mind I’ll just think of something later. I’m going to head home now. Bye-bye!”
Nishinoya just waved to her and watched as the taller girl left.
“Noya you bastard! How could you do this to me? How could you hide such a cute girl from me?” Ryu burst out dramatically as soon as Y/N left.
“Y/N? Cute?” Noya murmured to himself like he hadn’t considered the possibility.
“You’re joking, right? That’s Y/N, the vice president of the student council. Even third years think she’s pretty and you’re telling me you haven’t noticed? Are you feeling ok?” Tanaka placed his hand on Nishinoya’s forehead trying to check his temperature.
He just batted away Tanaka’s hand and shrugged.
“I guess I just didn’t notice because I don’t like her that way? She’s super helpful and always taking care of me, but she’s not someone I would consider a girlfriend material, you know? More like a friend or even a sister.”
He saw Tanaka giving him a look that he couldn’t decipher before it disappeared. So, he just brushed it off.
“I mean the only girl for me is Kiyoko-san! She shines brighter than any other girl in the school, so it’s not a surprise that I didn’t really notice Y/N.”
Tanaka gave him a nod in agreement. “That’s true! No one can compare to Kiyoko-san,” he said before slapping Noya harshly on the back.
“Ahh! What was that for?”
“For not telling me your friends with a cute girl like Y/N!”
The two best friends tussled with each other for a few more minutes before going about their way home.
 14 times
Another one and another Friday gone, Nishinoya stretched happily and got ready to leave for home. Next week is the training camp and he was beyond excited to play volleyball once again.
“Noya-kun! Do you have a minute before you leave?”
Nishinoya looked up at Y/N and nodded with a huge smile.
She handed over a bag that she grabbed from inside her desk.
“Here, I’m not sure if your allowed to have snacks at the training camp so I grabbed you some.”
Nishinoya looked through the bag to see some potato chips, chocolate, and other variety of snacks.
Y/N was nervously twitching as she watched Noya look through the bag.
“Sorry if you don’t like them, I wasn’t sure what you liked besides Gari Gari-kun popsicles.”
“N-no!... No. It’s just no one ever has done this for me. I’m just a little shocked is all, Y/N” he said a bit emotionally.
Y/N’s raised her eyebrow. “You’re not going to cry, are you?”
“Of course not! I just have something in my eye,” he cried out while he wiped his eyes.
Y/N let out a giggle. “Well, make sure to train hard. I want to see Karasuno go to the Nationals, ok?”
“Yosh! I’ll do my best!”
She just waved happily and turned to leave the classroom. Nishinoya hurried to show off his goods to Tanaka in the gym.
He ran all the way there before finding his shaved friend just about to enter the gym.
“Yo, Ryu! Look what Y/N gave me!” Nishinoya proudly showed off his gift.
“Whoa, all of that? Did you blackmail her?” Tanaka asked teasingly.
“Nah, she said she wants to see our team at the Nationals and told me to train hard! It’s like I have my very own cheerleader.”
Tanaka looked at Noya tentatively again and Noya’s face dropped at the expression.
“What? You keep looking at me like that.”
“Nothing. I just find it interesting that Y/N’s so nice to you. Do you think she likes you?”
Nishinoya’s face burned at the accusation and he quickly denied it.
“No way! Y/N’s just nice like that and she’s helpful with all her classmates. I mean she and I have gotten close lately, but I don’t think she likes me like that.”
“But does she give snacks to other boys? Or help them study? Does she treat them the same way she treats you?”
The questions left Nishinoya a bit speechless and unable to respond coherently.
“S-still I don’t think she likes me, Ryu! There’s just no way!” He burst into nervous laughter and swerved around Tanaka to head up to the changing rooms.
As he climbed the stairs all he could think about was, ‘Y/N’s pretty and tall there’s just no way she would like me. Absolutely no way!’
 16 times
Most of his class was heading out to their Thursday lab class that occurred in another building. He was sluggishly making his way to chemistry which he wasn’t ok with. Because no Friday should ever end with a class as awful as chemistry (still not as bad as literature though)!
He wanted to practice volleyball some more after their practice match with Nekoma. Next time he was going to receive all the serves headed his way. His thought process was broken by high pitched squealing.
“Ehhhh? Is that Y/N-san’s boyfriend?” a girl called out.
As soon as he heard the word “boyfriend” and “Y/N” in the same sentence, his head snapped so quickly towards the group of girls talking that he could feel a kink in the back of his neck.
He looked towards Y/N and what looked like a familiar boy. Wait, was that Tsukishima? Since when did she know him?
“No way! I think he’s a first year. Look she’s handing some papers to him. It’s probably student council business.”
Sure enough, Y/N handed Tsukishima a huge stack of papers to which he took and bowed to the older girl in thanks.
“Oh, that makes sense. But don’t they look so cute though? Look, their height difference is only a few centimeters. They match so well,” his classmate said eagerly to her friend.
Nishinoya waited to hear the group of girls disagree with a frown. Only for that frown to get deeper when he heard resounding approval. Did they not know how rude Tsukishima was or how crappy his personality was? Y/N wouldn’t ever be happy with a guy like that! She needed someone who could appreciate how caring she was, not someone who would take advantage of her kind nature.
With that in mind, he rushed to rescue his friend before Tsukishima could get his claws in her.
“Hey Y/N, aren’t you going to chemistry? It’s time,” he said as he budged into their conversation.
Y/N’s eyes widened and checked the watch on her wrist. “Shoot! You’re right. Anyway, Tsukishima-san make sure to deliver that to your sensei.”
Tsukishima only nodded respectfully. “Will do. Ja! Senpai and Y/N-senpai.” He threw a weird, confused look at Nishinoya who kept sending him hostile glares.
As soon as he left, Nishinoya grabbed Y/N’s wrist and pulled her away.
“Stay away from him, Y/N. He’s on the volleyball team and he has a very nasty personality.”
“Huh? Do you mean Tsukishima-san? Are you sure? He was pretty polite to me,” she replied as she kept up with his pace easily.
“Oh, that’s a façade trust me. He always has something smart to say sooner or later. I still can’t believe he had the nerve to talk crap about Rolling Thunder!”
Y/N let out a giggle. “Rolling Thunder? What’s that?”
Nishinoya’s face lit up as he proceeded to explain how cool his super-duper receive was. And how he was called the deity of Karasuno’s volleyball team.
Soon enough the two had arrived at the lab and sat down at their assigned seats. Chemistry passed by him slowly as the teacher droned on and on about molarity. Even the lab that involved freezing and melting water by a flame turned out to be boring. Finally, the lab ended, and he was just about to zip out of there to head to practice when he heard the same group of girls again.
“Ne Y/N-san, which one of those boys would you date? Mai here thinks you suit Nishinoya-san, but I think you would suit that tall blonde boy that you were talking to earlier.”
Another voice interrupted, “aren’t Y/N and Nishinoya-kun close? I think it would make sense.”
“Yeah, but he’s so short! How would they even kiss? Don’t they have like a 10 cm height difference? It would be too weird.”
The girls burst into laughter and his heart dropped.  He knew the idea of Y/N liking him was too farfetched and even if she did it wouldn’t work out. So, without hearing what Y/N had to say he left the area in a hurry.
 20 times.
He could feel the pressure surrounding the court, suffocating him and the team. They had to defeat Aoba Johsai to get to the finals. Apparently, his team had beaten Seijoh before in a practice match, but it was without their usual setter. “The Grand King” as he was called by Shoyo. A competent setter really made all the difference, huh. Well, Oikawa was better than competent, but Nishinoya really didn’t want to admit that right now. He was annoying in middle school and he was annoying now.
He blew a breath through his teeth as he once again caught a serve by Oikawa. The power of the serve had struck his forearms making them alarmingly red. He could feel the spirit of his team dimming as the rally continued. What should he do? He was getting the serves, but they were still trailing behind Seijoh.
“Fighto! Noya-kun! Fighto!” a familiar voice called out.
He looked up to see Y/N cupping her hands and cheering for him. Nishinoya felt relief flooding through him. She had let him know that she would be a bit late and she had missed several of their matches already. But now she was finally here. His lips trembled and he could feel his vision get watery. Quickly blinking the moisture away, he felt his spirit rekindle.
“Yosh! Everyone don’t worry about the match! I’ll protect the court, so you guys make sure to get those points! After all, I got your back,” he finished off with a wide grin.
Immediately, he could see Daichi relax and let out a small smile. Hinata and Kageyama exchanged a look and nodded. Even Tsukishima’s tense shoulders seem to drop a little. Their spirits renewed, the team quickly readied their stance and faced Seijoh once again.
 21 times.
The defeat weighed upon the team as they moved through the building to get to the bus. They were going to head back to Karasuno and go to a nearby restaurant afterward. The team was quiet contemplating their loss silently, each of them coping with it differently. As for himself, he felt disappointed and upset of course, but there was still a drive burning inside of him. Seeing the libero on Seijoh cross the line and actually set up the ball, was inspiring. He wanted to try it out for himself for future matches like in the Spring High. However, there was still the somber atmosphere and he knew it wasn’t the right time to talk about future training just yet.
“Noya-kun!”
Nishinoya looked back to see Y/N running towards him. Daichi placed a hand on his shoulder.
“You have five minutes. Meet us at the bus.” He nodded in reply and the team left without him.
“Hey Y/N, I’m sorry…,” he began.
“Why are you sorry?”
He looked up at her face to see it scrunched up in confusion.
“B-because we lost. You told us to go to Nationals and we couldn’t go.”
“Are you kidding? You guys were amazing! I don’t know much about volleyball, but so many people in the audience were surprised by Karasuno. Apparently, Aoba Johsai is an amazing school, and the fact you guys lost by two points? I’m-m. I don’t know what to say! I’m speechless,” Y/N spat out in a rush, giddy in her excitement.
Y/N bent down a little and wrapped her hands around his waist. She pulled him close and he could feel her body heat against his.
“I’m so proud of you. I had no idea you were so good at volleyball,” she whispered.
His heartbeat sped out of control and he started to feel dizzy from the smell of her sweet perfume and the feeling of her soft skin against his. Why was he feeling this way? Wasn’t this how he usually felt around Kiyoko-san and other cute girls? The realization hit him hard. Was he actually starting to like her? And not just in a joking, faux way he did with Kiyoko-san, but in a way that involved heart fulfilling confessions?
Nishinoya could feel himself panic and his body stiffened at the close contact. Y/N noticed right away his body’s reaction and stumbled back quickly.
“Oh gomen. I-I got too excited,” Y/N said as she blushed.
“It’s fine,” he trailed off watching as Y/N nervously played with her hair. He eyed the prominent blush on her face. Why was she acting like….. Oh. Oh. He wanted to immediately deny it like he had done with Tanaka all those weeks ago, but it was hard to when the evidence was right in front of his eyes.
He had to go. He had to go now!
“Listen Y/N, the team’s waiting for me. I have to get on the bus.”
She smiled and replied, “of course. I’ll see you at school tomorrow?”
School? Oh, hell he didn’t even think about that.
“Yeah, sure,” he got out before leaving her behind. He had a lot to think about.
 25 times.
Nishinoya wasn’t trying to avoid Y/N on purpose. He still greeted her in class, but he was just no longer engaging her in inane conversation like he did every day. He had a lot to think about. Again, how he didn’t notice her feelings earlier; he had no idea. She wasn’t obvious but when they were alone her earnest gaze was hard to ignore.
As he tried to get himself together, Nishinoya knew he was making Y/N upset by ignoring her. But he couldn’t help himself. Sure, he was the definition of a man who was girl-crazy, but it was all in good fun. He wasn’t seriously pursuing anyone even Kiyoko-san knew that. But this situation was very real and very complicated. In the end, it could cost him the one female he managed to somehow befriend. Still, he wouldn’t have known that Y/N was going to use the opportunity to be honest.
“Noya-kun, can we talk alone?” Y/N asked one afternoon as he was readying to flee the classroom.
“O-oh, I’m not sure. Daichi-san might make me do laps for being late,” he replied flustered at her request.
“Please. It won’t take long,” she pleaded.
Hearing the urgency in her voice, he could no longer refuse. “Alright.”
They walked out of the classroom and she led him behind one of the older science buildings.
She stood in front of him, clenching and unclenching the grip on her bag before she hesitantly spoke.
“N-noya-kun, I have something to tell you.”
Nishinoya felt his eyes widened.
“I know we have become really good friends over the last few months. But I can’t help myself. I really like you! Please accept my feelings!” she said before bowing to him.
“I can’t, Y/N. I don’t really think of you that way. I’m sorry.”
Y/N stood up and looked a bit shocked. Her face that was previously flushed with nervousness drained and became pale.
Nishinoya bowed in return and said, “I’m really sorry. I hope we can still be friends.”
Still looking quite aghast she replied in a small voice, “I-I…. of course, Noya-kun. I just need a little time that’s all.”
He hesitated for a minute as he tried to explain why he was saying no. That he was confused with his own feelings, but before he could begin, Y/N ran off without another word.
“Y/N! Wait up!” He ran after her and caught her wrist, forcing her to turn around and face him.
Her face was wet with tears. “Please, I have to go.”
Stupefied at making Y/N cry, he let her go without another word.  He only watched as she got farther and farther away, he couldn’t help but think that he made a mistake.

He could distantly hear volleyball hitting the gym floor and the sound of someone saying, “nice kill.” But it all seemed to fade away.
Daichi hollered, “alright, let’s do another penalty drill.”
Nishinoya absentmindedly followed his teammates doing another round after they lost again to Fukurodani.
“Oy Noya, this way. We have to run up the hill now. Practice is done for the day,” Tanaka said as he dragged him.
“Right. Gomen,” Nishinoya muttered.
As he ran up the hill, he didn’t notice Tanaka looking at him worriedly. He approached Nishinoya after he was lying at the bottom of the hill and panting for his life.
“Let’s talk, me and you. There’s something bothering you,” Tanaka blurted out.
“Nothing’s wrong. I’m fine. Just the losses are getting to me that’s all.”
“Bull! I’m your best friend I know these things.”
Nishinoya looked around to see the rest of the Karasuno members busy trying to catch their breath or getting water.
He sat up and plucked the grass on the hill. “Y/N confessed to me before the training camp.”
“What?!” Tanaka yelled out.
Nishinoya got startled by Tanaka’s volume and crushed the grass blades in his hand by accident.
“Shhhhh! Quiet!” he ordered, “do you want everyone to hear?”
They turned around to see the rest looking at them weirdly before assuming it was just the duo being their obnoxious selves and going back to relaxing.
“Noya, you bastard! You got a girlfriend before me! I’m happy and sad at the same time,” Tanaka blubbered trying to hug Nishinoya.
“Ugh! Get off me, Ryu! You’re sweaty and it’s too hot.”
He sighed with relief when his excitable friend finally got off him. “And no, I didn’t. I rejected her.”
Tanaka burst out laughing. “I’m sorry I think I heard you wrong. I thought you just said you rejected a pretty girl asking you out.”
“I did reject her! And she ran off crying.” Nishinoya said desolately.
Tanaka ran his fingers over his shaved head, trying to pull his nonexistent hair in fury.
“What?! Why?! This was your chance and don’t give me that bullshit about not liking her that way! You do I can tell! When you and I talk about Kiyoko-san, you get all excitable. But when you’re talking about Y/N you’re actually quiet and serious for the first time.”
Was he like that for real? He had no idea. All he knew was that he had messed up. That day after he rejected her, Y/N was polite as if they were acquaintances. There was this barrier between the two despite being their desks only a few feet away. She never ignored him, but she kept this façade by ignoring personal questions and answering noncommittally whenever she could.
“But you still haven’t told me why you rejected her,” Tanaka continued.
“Because! Y/N’s 172 cm and I’m what 159 cm? Why would she want to date someone like me anyway?”
“Baka!” Tanaka hit the top of Nishinoya’s head. “Didn’t you say that height doesn’t matter and that you’ll fight with your life?”
He clutched the top of his head and moaned. “Ryu, you bastard! That’s with volleyball! You can’t apply the same thing with dating, dumbass!”
“Yes, I can! You think that if Kiyoko-san was over 190 cm I would stop pursuing her? No way! I would still build shrines to my gigantic goddess every single day if I have to! Who cares about height in volleyball or love? Besides, Y/N already knows about your damn height. She sees you every single day and she still confessed! Doesn’t that mean she doesn’t care in the first place?”
The words echoed in his head. Ryu was right! He was so caught up in his insecurities that he hadn’t realized that Y/N never cared about his flaws. Never once did she call him out on his height or even comment about it. The only time she did get annoyed with him was when he refused to study or asked to copy her work again.
“Ryu, you genius! You’re right!” Nishinoya said cheerfully pushing himself on Tanaka’s shoulders.
Tanaka put his hands on his hips and threw his head back as he laughed gleefully. “Of course! You better fix things with Y/N when we get back. Until then get your head back in the game, Noya. Karasuno needs our libero.”
He felt his spirits being uplifted, the rejection no longer weighing as heavily as before.
“Yosha! I want to practice some more. Wanna help me with something, Ryu? I have something I wanna try,” he asked thinking of the tactics that libero used during the Seijoh match.

He could hear Y/N’s tinkling laughter as she covered her mouth to giggle whatever dumb shit his classmates were telling her. She never covered her mouth with him instead laughing with tears in her eyes desperately trying to breathe while he laughed along with her. She never had to pretend in front of him. But the fact she would rather entertain whatever they were asking her instead of hanging out with him before morning classes began, hurt. But could he blame her? Why would she want to talk to someone who rejected her? Still, at the same time, he couldn’t help but feel that maybe Y/N’s feelings weren’t as genuine as he thought they were. Because there she was acting normally with other people.
He let out a sigh of relief as the bell rang not because he was excited about class. Rather it meant Y/N had to return to her seat and all the boys surrounding class president Mai’s seat also had to go back.
“Hey Y/N, how was your break?” he asked tentatively.
She spared him a glance and a muted smile.
“Good.” She reached inside her desk and pulled out her textbook.
He couldn’t help the annoyance bubbling up. School just restarted! There was no way she had any work to review, but Y/N was putting on an act like they were about to be handed their midterm exams.
Before Nishinoya could say anything, their gruff sensei had entered and started class. He honestly couldn’t say he learned anything that day. Too anxious rehearsing in his mind on what he would say to Y/N.
When it was finally lunchtime, he made his way to Tanaka’s classroom for some reassurance. Nishinoya was going to corner Y/N before she went home. Hopefully, it would end well and with Y/N as his girlfriend if he had anything to say about it. Again, too nervous to eat, he just gulped down some bread and headed back to his classroom.
He let out a groan when he heard those gossipy classmates of his again. Didn’t they have anything better to do with themselves? Maybe study like the responsible students they all pretended to be?
“What do you mean Y/N has a confession? In the courtyard? W-who is it?—”
Nishinoya didn’t even bother to hear the rest and ran out like someone just announced their volleyball club was being discontinued. He didn’t even bother apologizing to the students he was pushing through to get to his destination. His mind being preoccupied with one thought only.
‘There’s no way I’m losing her to anyone else!’
He arrived in the empty courtyard to see an unfamiliar boy and Y/N standing alone. An unfamiliar tall boy. Y/N and he were the same height.
Nishinoya scowled deeply and stomped towards the two.
“Oy! Y/N doesn’t like you get lost!” he growled out.
Y/N jumped and turned around to look astounded by his appearance.
The boy’s eyebrows furrowed, “um who are you?”
“The guy that Y/N likes and confessed to! So, she doesn’t need or want your second-rate confession,” he snarled as a dark aura surrounded him.
“Though, I would be happy to rearrange your face if you don’t leave right now.”
The boy paled and unceremoniously turned around, walking away at a fast pace. He could be heard murmuring, “what’s his issue I was only passing on a note?” But neither of the two particularly cared.
“Noya-kun! How could you?” Y/N asked aghast.
“Me? What about you? You only confessed to me about two weeks ago! How could you?”
Y/N’s cheeks flushed and Nishinoya’s own cheeks reddened in response. Neither of them had spoken about what happened since that day.
She fidgeted a bit before replying, “i-it doesn’t matter! You don’t like me anyway that means I’m free to date whoever I want.”
Nishinoya took a deep breath knowing it was time to tell her the truth about his feelings.
“You’re wrong. I do like you! In fact, I like you a lot! Probably more than you ever thought possible.”
Y/N’s eyes widened. “But you rejected me! Why did you do that if you liked me?”
“Because I was worried about what people might think of a pretty girl like you dating someone like me. I was insecure about my height. I didn’t think you and I would work out,” he explained quietly.
“Noya-kun, I knew about the short delinquent with the blond streak since first year. And I never cared about that. I like you because of how much passion and persistence you have. You think I didn’t notice the different pain relief patches on your arms? You think I didn’t notice how much you gave your all during your match against Seijoh despite losing? Or the fact that you’re horrible at literature but still study because I asked you to? I could go on and on-“
Nishinoya felt his heartbeat race out of control. No one had ever said something so nice about him and especially not a girl. A girl that had been on his mind for weeks. No, not weeks. But if he was being honest since the day he had met her.
“Please go on. Tell me more about why you like me,” he said with a huge smile.
“I—no way! It’s too embarrassing!” she squealed and hid her face behind her hands.
“Oh please? I’ve never had a girl tell me she liked me twice!”
Y/N peaked between her fingers. “Did you mean it? Do you really like me back?”
Nishinoya motioned for her to bend down. Y/N, out of curiosity, did as she was told. He tugged her hand when she got closer, to connect their two mouths. She let out a noise when she felt his chapped lips against hers. He took her quiet sigh as a good sign and pressed harder. There was no earth-shattering moment nor was she suddenly the center of his gravity like people would say. But her soft lips felt warm and inviting so he discreetly asked for permission by sliding his tongue between her lips. Their tongues tangled and danced despite neither knowing what to do. It was messy and awkward, but they didn’t care as their enthusiasm and passion overcame their inexperience. When breathing became necessary, he reluctantly separated while she let out a small whine unable to disguise her disappointment.
“Now do you get it? I really do like you.”
Y/N nodded happily and gave Nishinoya a quick peck.
“Wait, what do you mean by short delinquent? Who called me a delinquent? What the hell?” he asked out of the blue.
She burst out laughing and laughed even harder at Nishinoya’s miffed face.

Nishinoya marveled at the feeling of her soft hand holding his coarse callous filled hand.
“I’ll wait for you after your practice. We can get some Gari Gari-kun popsicles,” Y/N said.
“Are you sure?” he asked worriedly. She already came in early for the student council. She didn’t need to stay late too.
“It’s fine don’t worry.” She stepped down the staircase and looked back up at him. “What are you waiting for? Aren’t you going to be late for practice?”
Nishinoya looked down at her curiously and smirked. With him standing on the upper stair, now their heights looked equal for the perfect angle.
“To do this,” he murmured before pulling Y/N in for a quick smooch.
She didn’t hesitate to grant him entry and let him explore for a while before pulling away. Her eyes sparkled looking lovingly at him.
“Ja!” he called out before running down the stairs. Nishinoya only sent a haughty look to an embarrassed Shoyo and Kageyama who were looking at anyone but him. A hysterical Tanaka came running up to him.
“Noya! You became a man!” The two best friends hugged and thumped each other on the back.
Daichi and Sugawara came out of their gym only to see the second-year duo crying and hugging each other, while Hinata and Kageyama were suspiciously red.
“I don’t know what’s going on here, but I better see you in the gym warming up soon or there will be hell to pay,” Daichi said as he gritted his teeth. He headed back inside shaking his head.
Sugawara puttered over to Hinata and poked him.
The twitchy first year screamed and relaxed when it was only his senpai.
“What’s going on here?” he whispered to Hinata.
“O-oh. Um. It seems Noya-senpai got a girlfriend.”
“Phfft. Funny joke, Hinata. Seriously what’s going on?” Sugawara asked again.
This time Kageyama interrupted, “no it’s the truth. We saw them on the stairs just now. K—k-is”
The flushed dark-haired boy unable to finish his sentence just threw his milk carton away and walked off muttering something about “warming up” and “volleyball”.
“Huh. It must be the truth then,” Sugawara uttered disbelievingly watching as Nishinoya and Tanaka were now talking about double dates as they entered the gym.

Hinata got on his bike and was now ready to go home when he spotted a familiar boy with a blonde streak. He was about to call out for him when a taller girl stepped next to him. Noya-senpai’s face beamed with happiness and grabbed the girl in for a hug. The two then walked off hand in hand as the sun set behind them.
‘If Noya-senpai can get a girl like that there’s hope for me too!’ Hinata cheered. With that positive thought in mind, he biked vigorously home ten times harder.

An exhaustive list of Bloodborne bosses I would or would not date
Father Gascoigne
Tumblr media
We’re starting this list off with a strong yes. You may be like, but Blue, this is a married man with two daughters! To this I reply: I pretend not to hear it. Also, not to be horrible, but his wife is dead while I’m right there baby, with my blunderbuss and my axe, and I’m ready to risk it all. YES, I know he’s a very stinky man, but you gotta make compromises sometimes. What’s that smell? Ah, the sweet dilf, it sings to me.
Cleric Beast
Tumblr media
Let me be clear, I’m not a furry, but the Cleric Beast has stated some facts and made some points! The only reason why I’m not to keen on dating it is that it can’t best me in battle, which is something I’m always looking for in a partner.
Blood Starved Beast
Tumblr media
Our first no of the list, I’m not very into skin flaps and poison, which the Blood Starved Beast has plenty of. Moreover, I’d have to get Djura’s approval, and that scares me beyond anything else in Yharnam.
Vicar Amelia
Tumblr media
Another Cleric Beast, this time with a bit more flair to it. First of all we just have to admire the way she transforms, very sexy and bloody, which is something you’re gonna want in your relationship if you’re someone who likes fun. (Thiccar) Amelia, cradle me like your golden pendant.
Hemwick witches
Tumblr media
Another hard no here. No offense, but I like having eyes, and dating a pair of witches covered in eyes that they’ve been harvesting for years doesn’t seem like a good idea to me!
Shadows of Yharnam
Tumblr media
Honestly yeah? You get 3 cool partners in black robes for the price of one. They all wield different weapons, which makes for two excellent things. First of all, you get a very efficient bodyguard team (useful at parties, when a hunter gets drunk on blood, or when you open your front door and a beast is there). Secondly, if you want to have a fun sparring match with your partners, which we all know is a fundamental activity in a couple, you have very varied options!
And a bonus for animal lovers: they can spawn snakes at will for you!! Never a boring day with your 3 hooded partners.
Rom, the vacuous spider
Tumblr media
NO. Don’t date Rom. She’s baby! She doesn’t understand what’s going on. Instead, here’s a list of nice activities you can do with Rom:
- Read her stories
- Trims her back growths
- Clean her teeth
- Make her some cute little glasses
- Knit matching socks for her and her children
- Teach her new spells
- Not date her
Darkbeast Paarl
Tumblr media
Paarl is a similar situation as Rom. He’s just a little puppy… He doesn’t know what dating is. He knows what going on a walk means, though! So go on, go on a happy little walk with Paarl. He’ll love it, you’ll have fun, everyone will be happy.
Amygdala
Tumblr media
Yes. Evidence that it’s a good idea is: lots of arms (good hugs), can grab the shit out of me, CAN and WILL crush me, can sometimes shatter my consciousness with its eldritch powers (very sexy), can send me in other dimensions, will annihilate my enemies with a funky laser beam, and the most amazing feature: can pop it’s eyes out of its skull like a stress ball (fun trick to show your friends at parties). The ideal girlfriend.
The One Reborn
Tumblr media
NO!!!!! There’s a lot of freaky stuff I’d date in Bloodborne but the One Reborn is NOT one of them. Firstly, it has 6 nannies. Do I look like the type of person who wants their dates consistently moderated by 6 Pthumerian elders? No!!! I’m a free bitch baby!! And in addition to that, Juan Reborn just has too many limbs. It’s not okay. If we ever got engaged I wouldn’t know where to slip the ring.
Micolash, Host of the Nightmare
Tumblr media
Would I..? No, I wouldn’t… Unless? Haha, just kidding. Wait… Actually… Um.
I mean… If you’re into bastardous hysterical little men who howl while running around, sure. BUT beware… You might lose him in a mirror and never find him again, which I find very inconvenient. Imagine going shopping with a guy who compulsively disappears in mirrors. Imagine explaining to the store employees why your dumbass boyfriend broke all their mirrors.
Also, how will we kiss?  With the cage on the way?
Oh god, do I have to wear a cage too?
Celestial Emissaries
Tumblr media
I’m not against having a multitude of partners but I’m afraid that might be too much for me. Also, they look like little tiny bebes. I know I’ve said before that I wasn’t ready to be a parent, but I might make an exception for the Celestial Emissaries — let them chill in my home, make them pb&j sandwiches, stuff like that.
Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
Tumblr media
Dear Ebrietas… I have a lot of fondness for her but she looks way too much like mac’n’cheese for comfort. She’s invited for sleepovers and all, no doubt about that, but I see our future together as platonic.
Martyr Logarius
Tumblr media
Now Listen… Logarius is an Enemy of women. The proof of his crimes still remains in Cainhurst castle. Do I want to date the genocidal Yharnam Santa? Are you really asking me that? Do you take me for Executioner Alfred? I am not crazy. I will not date Martyr Logarius and his red skulls spamming ass (however miss Annalise queen of the Vilebloods, call me).
Mergo’s Wet Nurse
Tumblr media
Um yes of course? Tall dark eldritch wife? I feel like Mergo’s Wet Nurse is the Dancer of Bloodborne, where I’m in a situation where I’m presented with the ideal girlfriend and people expect me to say no because she’s an enormous eldritch entity who could kill me in one hit or whatever. Do you think me a coward? Do you believe that I am not willing to risk it all for invisible girls? Think again.
Gehrman, the First Hunter
Tumblr media
Ew no! Gross! He’s gonna make a doll designed after me and I will have to call the police!
Moon Presence
Tumblr media
On one hand yes (see Mergo’s Wet Nurse) but on the other hand… I feel like the Moon Presence would be too possessive and easily jealous. I just need some freedom, yknow? The liberty to go out and make friends with other Great Ones. And I know she would NOT like that. She’d ask me if I’m the only Great One I’m talking to and I’d have to nervously hide my phone and say Yes Babe Always Babe, lest she would shackle me to an unending dream. I’m not about that life.
Ludwig the Accursed/the Holy Blade
Tumblr media
I genuinely don’t know what to say. The screaming horse man? Am I— the horse boy? Him? No. I… I’m not gonna. I love his sword. Lots of class. Very good theme song, could be cool to have him as a friend (maybe I could ride him around to different locations?) but to date? Kiss his horse mouth? KISS HIS EYE MOUTH? You could say that… Neigh.
Laurence, the First Vicar
Tumblr media
NOW WE’RE TALKING BABEY… All the class of the Cleric Beast with FIRE included! Picture this: it’s the winter, it’s snowing, and you’re cold… NOT! You are dating a FLAMING BEAST, you are never cold. Laurence has one proper arm to hold you and one arm that’s a constant flaming inferno, which means he’s great for the summer and the winter, depending on which temperature you want to be at. Your enormous flaming boyfriend will always be at your side.
Living Failures
Tumblr media
First of all mood, second of all, this is kind of a Celestial Emissaries situation where I’m not against having many partners but I don’t want a whole congregation of them. There’s just too many Living Failures. I also like dating people with faces? And that aren’t, like, blue. So it’s a no from me, but I’ll befriend them. I’ll go garden with them and all. We can have a girls’ night, it’s all good.
Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower
Tumblr media
I’m gonna have to be predictable and say yes here, but fair warning, Lady Maria isn’t for everyone! I know she looks like the perfect wife, but get this; this lady is a hunter. She’s only a lady because she’s related to royals. She has nothing ladylike in her. You think she takes baths? You think she knows what self-care IS????? I laugh at your ignorance, at how you misunderstand her. Maria is a stinky girl; but she is MY stinky girl.
Orphan of Kos
Tumblr media
I don’t want to date the Orphan of Kos because he was literally just born and still has his placenta attached to him.  I don’t care for infants, and I don’t care for violent infants. I wouldn’t even want to invite him over to play with the Celestial Emissaries or something. He’s like that asshole child in kindergarten who hurts the other kids for fun. Am I being harsh to a literal baby and an orphan at that? Maybe. But Kos herself couldn’t tell me I’m wrong.
Bonus chalice boss: Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen
Tumblr media
Now listen here… Yharnam is a queen, tall and kinda eldritch, absolutely rabid, which we’ve established is my type. Shall I step on the toes of Oedon and declare her mine? Perhaps. She has a very powerful scream, which worries me in case of a domestic fight, but overall I get to marry a kind of eldritch queen, which is alright in my book. I know she has an equally eldritch baby, but it’s formless, so it doesn’t bother me that much.   Dark Souls 1 ll Dark Souls 2 SOTFS ll Dark Souls 3

A story by heroes and villains
Tumblr media
Roman Castile: Passion and duty
Roman finds that his different passions seem to get in each other's way for now. But one day, he will find a balance.
“Ugh! I am done!” Roman exclaimed relieved, barely hearing the hissed warning from the librarian. Homework had been draining. Sure they’d had fun. Especially when it came to teasing Virgil about his pronunciation when they worked on Spanish.
Still Roman was ready to do literally anything else.
“Give me a sec, I have to finish this thing for English,” Virgil muttered absentmindedly. Roman knew that Virgil had rewritten that particular assignment two times already.
“Want me to read it trough for you?” Roman offered. Maybe hearing someone say that it was good would be enough to stop him from second guessing himself again.
“You don’t…”  Virgil started, somehow looking guilty.
“We’re here to help each other Virgil. If I didn’t want to help you I wouldn’t offer. I thrive on being of help to my friends. It’s no trouble,” he assured him. Virgil offered him a small smile and a nod in response. “Alright. You can read it when I’m done,” he allowed.
Roman took peace with that and opened his notebook to start doodling.
He had a few ideas for some more shirt designs. He’d enjoyed making his ‘coming out’ shirt. Then there was the Halloween party and every other social event this year has to offer where he had to slay. Junior year was a year to be noticed. Nothing wrong with putting down some ideas in advance. He just might come across the perfect outfit.
“Seems I’m not the only one who can draw up some clothes,” Virgil noted and Roman nearly fell of his chair when he jumped at his sudden proximity.
“Will you stop that!?” A thing about Virgil Roman had learned over the last week. He always seemed to pop up out of nowhere. One minute he’s gushing over the latest Disney trailer with André and suddenly Virgil stands next to him giving his two cents. It was terrifying.
“Not a chance,” Virgil chuckled as he picked up Roman’s sketches.
“This looks good though… You ever thought of becoming a fashion designer?”
Roman’s eyes widened. Making amazing outfits for a living? He could make a whole ‘wear your pride’ line and… Oh… Oh…!
“You are a genius!” Roman exclaimed. He’d had no idea what he wanted to do with his future, aside from hero work, but now the idea was brought up he wanted nothing else. Fashion designer, superhero, actor, maybe also Mr. Castile-Anker. That was a future he could look forward to!
Virgil chuckled. “It’s the least I can do. I sent in the designs like you said… I’m kind of excited.”
Roman beamed at him. “I’m sure next time you see DreamPrince on the news he’ll be wearing your design.” He was. He’d been shown some alternative designs by Manifestor and found Virgil’s drawing among them and immediately declared that that was the one.
As he’d told Roman, he’d changed a few things. He’d shown him on Wednesday to get his stamp of approval. Roman had gushed unapologetically, because he knew he’d have to tone it back a bit in front of the team.
Which had been hard.
Tonight he’d be taking it for a test run and he’d make sure to be seen by people and cameras.
“We’ll see,” Virgil smiled as he pushed his laptop with his assignment towards Roman.
Roman read it, dropping the subject without problem.
Virgil was easy to be friends with and he’d quickly learned to read his moods.
During lunch Virgil usually sat himself a little bit away from the group when he felt the need to just focus on his music and sketch a little before heading back to class. He was sarcastic, witty and could dish it out about as well as he could take it.
He was also very guarded emotionally, which Roman could understand, but whenever they were just the two  of them, Virgil opened up some more. He’d learned about Virgil’s soon to be stepdad and the admittedly adorable meet cute he’d been a part of.
He knew that Virgil’s dad had found them a new home and they’d moved in just that week.
He learned that Virgil was mature and his dad’s only wingman which they both agreed was super awkward but also hilarious.
Roman had joked that Virgil might end up being his father’s best man. But apparently there was a family friend ‘uncle Thomas’ who might get that position.
Virgil had gone out with another girl that week. Anna, who’d had English with him last year or something. Virgil had listened patiently, but relatively unaffected to her asking him out and arranged another semi-date at the music store for the next evening. Luckily nothing came from it again. Roman asked him why he kept saying yes to people he barely knew. Virgil explained that he had missed out on enough chances to befriend others. So the way he saw it he’d at the very least get a friend out of it. Roman kind of took comfort in that. It didn’t sound like Virgil was trying to get a girlfriend or a boyfriend right now. Just trying to socialize. Roman had reminded Virgil to watch his boundaries though. He wouldn’t want him to push himself out of fear he’d be missing out.
One more thing he learned about Virgil: he was overly critical of himself.
“Well, I think you can hand this in with confidence Virge,” Roman concluded as he returned Virgil’s laptop to him.
“So… I recall something about pizza? I’m starving!” he grinned.
Virgil chuckled and lead the way. Soon they were sat at a table with their orders and they were talking about everything and nothing. It was great. And Roman was so close to asking Virgil out but…
“So… Um… There’s this… Shoot wait a minute,” Roman got up and picked up his phone.
“Si mama…?” he asked curiously after seeing the caller ID.
“Darling. I know you are out with your friend. But I wanted you to know we’re headed to the university now,” his mother informed him. The university… Wait. “Que?” Roman looked at his watch incredulously. He was going to be late. Unless he left right now that is.
“Perdona! I’ll be there soon.” He hung up and dug through his wallet for some money.
“So sorry Virge! Time got away from us I’m afraid. I swear I intended to give you that ride… Can you call your dad… You know what? Just use the change to take the bus or something alright? My treat! I’ll call you later!” he promised as he tossed down a few bills that should more than cover the tab and the tip before rushing away.
How was it so late already?
He sprinted around a few corners and found a spot to get changed. BS had explained about the sciency stuff behind his costume change, but all Roman really cared about was that he basically had a magical boy transformation. Sure he could sit there and let the tech do its thing, but it was much more fun to make up a cool transformation sequence.
First, hair. He retrieved a lip balm like object and applied the substance to his hairline. He tucked the balm away and with one smooth movement of his hand he styled and recolored his hair. Instead of parted in the middle with regal waves it was flicked to the back, save for a single rebellious strand dangling down his forehead. Instead of a deep ash brown it was warm chestnut in color.
Then he took a tini metallic bead from a ring on his finger and tapped it against his temple, before he swiped his hand in front of his eyes as his mask placed itself securely on his face, changing his eye color in the process. He tapped his wrists together in front of his chest and brought them down with force, feeling his blazer and shirt get replaced by the skintight suit. He tapped his right heal against his left before taking another power position and finishing his costume change.
How cool was his life?!
He created a platform to lift himself to the roof and sprinted towards the university. The GTH was in it’s basement. As he made his way there he started to think over asking Virgil out again.
Maybe, now wasn’t the time. Virgil was clearly still upset about the whole Janus thing. He didn’t say it but Roman could tell. And he didn’t want Virgil to think for even a second that Roman’s crush was anything less than genuine, he had noticed that Virgil still had trouble believing their friendship was real at times. Not to mention that starting a relationship with someone while he was still figuring out how to balance out superhero and civilian life was clearly a bad idea. He couldn’t even ask him out without being interrupted by his other life.
So, he'd wait until he had his life in order and he was sure Virgil was ready. There was definitely some kind of connection between them. And Roman was willing to wait until the time was right…
He knew he was being a coward, but his friendship with Virgil was so fragile.
He entered the basement campus with little hassle and dropped of his bag in his personal locker, making sure to lock it. If anyone with ill intent got in here they could easily find out his identity with it's contents and Roman didn’t want his name out like that. Not yet at least.
He hurried to the training hall, threw open the doors and slid inside.
“Your prince has returned!” he exclaimed, doing a pretty good job at pretending he hadn't just sprinted the whole way there.
“Has he now?” BS asked, apparently in a bad mood today.
“Oh come now big S, the boy is just excited for his present! I would be too if I got a new costume made for me by a secret admirer,” Sweets offered with a calming hand on BS' shoulder. Sweets was an empath. He could share his emotions and those of others, perfect match for someone who wants or needs to keep his calm.
But what sweets said made Roman rather flustered. “I don't think DreamPrince has had enough appearances to already gain such attentions. Whoever did this just couldn't stand to look at this any longer.” Roman gestured to his current costume.
“Speaking of which…” he held out his hand bouncing on his feet in excitement. He was supposed to meet the chief of police today and he wanted to look presentable.
Manifestor chuckled from his spot on the desk. “Give the boy his stuff. He's been looking forward to this day for the past four years.”
BS sighed and handed Roman a small box, which the young hero snatched up before rushing to the dressing room.
He turned his suit off and took off the containment units. He opened the box and switched the old units for the new ones. The bracelets were more comfortable and adjusted to his skin tone, the metal bead was replaced with two skin colored stickers he applied to his temples.
“Let’s do this,” Roman smirked excitedly.
“To adventure!” he called out as he crossed his arms and tapped at his temples while simultaneously clicking his wrists together. At the same time he tapped his right toe behind his left heel and brought his ankles together. He struck a power pose, facing the full length mirror and grinned excitedly. Virgil had added an insignia on his cape and golden trimming in the final design. There'd been a few options for his emblem and Roman had chosen the shield with a castle by the sea with the sun shining down on him. He looked quite dashing.
He left the dressing room and handed the box back to BS with an elegant gesture.
BS wasn't amused. Sweets and Manifestor on the other found it hilarious.
“So? What do you think?” Roman asked as he turned around to show off the end result.
A loud ‘bing' announced a message from his family watching from the observation room.
“Gaaaaaaay!” Roman rolled his eyes good naturedly. Remus was a fan.
“Stay away from Planes!” the next one read. Roman chuckled. He had asked Virgil about the cape, considering he’d expected someone as cautious as him to heed Edna Mode's advice.
Apparently Virgil had intended the Cape to be an addition for official events. So ‘Prince’ would look good on camera. He'd also pointed out that it would look badass for the prince to un-claps his Cape before a fight. He'd had a point and Roman actually loved it.
“You look very handsome darling.”
“Thanks mom!” Roman called out.
Then two beeps came from a device on BS wrist. He looked down and relaxed, tapping away at a holographic screen, turning up the intensity of his shadow. “The chief is here,” he announced.
Roman raised an eyebrow, that was not what BS had been so tense about. Something in his private life maybe? If that was the case he'd never find out.
Roman had no time to worry about that though. The door opened and in walked the police chief. A small but commanding African American woman. It was something in the way she walked that made Roman want to stand at attention. And so he did. He wasn't the only one.
“DreamPrince, at your service ma’am,” Roman introduced himself respectfully.
“So you are what all the fuss is about?” she asked as she looked Roman up and down.
Chief Davies pursed her lips before nodding to herself. “I’ve read your file, you’re quite the prodigy aren’t you?” she asked.
Roman chuckled a little awkwardly. “I’ve just been training from a young age, that’s all.” Most gifted didn’t realize their talent until they were well in their teens.
“Good answer. I have no time to stroke an adolescent ego. We’ve got work to do.”
Chief Davies turned to Manifestor. “You got the files I sent?”
Manifestor nodded hurriedly. “Yes. I had no time to review them though.”
“I’ll walk you through it,” she announced dismissively. The leader of Roman’s training team nodded and tapped at something on his wrist. The screen that had shown the messages from Roman’s family earlier was now filled with mugshots.
The men looked dangerous. Roman shifted nervously. “You… you want my help apprehending these men?” he asked, trying not to show how frightening it seemed.
“God No!” Roman hid his relieve. “These men are all in jail already, with iron clad cases keeping them there for a long time. You think I’m going to send some rookie after hardcore criminals? No offense, but you are still a baby,” Roman blushed at that and focused back on the pictures.
Wait a minute. “I know that guy! Remember at the end of my first week? I spotted some tugs bothering that kid and tossed a rock at them?”
“And by some miracle you weren’t found when said tugs came looking for you,” BS added through gritted teeth. Still upset at Roman's initial recklessness.
“I wasn’t the only one they were looking for,” Roman insisted. He’d been so sure he hadn’t been alone that night. But BS claimed the would have known if anyone else had been there.
He never went after the tugs after they left the alley. BS insisting he was done with back alleys for the night.
And now those guys were apparently behind bars?
“Next slide please!” Davies called out.
A picture of a ziplock bag with pictures, a USB stick and a note of cut out letters that said ‘your turn’.
“For almost a year now we’ve been getting mysterious packages like this. Pictures, audio and video recordings. Every last one had one of these men incriminating themselves. It’s like whoever delivers these stands right next to them, but never gets caught taking pictures or carrying a wire. I have a small task force on the case who have dubbed them ‘The Phantom’. We are keeping this as in house as we can. Once the public hears about the Phantom, we’ll lose the most valuable asset we’ve ever had. Plus until now we weren’t sure if they were a sensible vigilante or a mobster who was taking out competition in a very clever way. Given what you just said I’d be inclined towards the former. They might have some sort of gift that hides them well enough to get away with spying. But right now, they are putting themselves in danger.” Davies turned towards Roman.
“Keep an eye out, see if you can spot him during your patrol this evening. And if you do, get him on board with the program.”
“Prince did not go through all that training to be your recruitment poster boy!” BS snapped to Roman's surprise. That was the most emotional response he's seen from BS ever. Aside from when he scolded Roman on his reckless behavior.
Davies glared at BS, looking quite intimidating, despite barely reaching to his chest.
“Now don't go all noble on me BrainStorm. What? Did your heart grow three sizes while I wasn't looking? Is there suddenly room for more than one other person there?”
Roman knew that this was a threat. Davies knew BS’ true identity, where he worked, who he cared for. She could ruin whatever he had built in an instant.
Roman often wondered what kind of life BS had outside the facility. Did he have a partner? A family? Did they know about his past at all.
A few seconds ticked by with no one daring to do so much as breathe.
Then Davies relaxed and stepped back. “I'm no monster BrainStorm. I wouldn't ask some rookie to deal with this if I hadn’t tried everything else already. I send in my agents and even called in other gifted. All we got out of that was this,” she gestured and Manifestor showed the next image. A note in the same style as the previous one that said ‘no babysit!’
“Our profiler thinks they are young. So maybe your prince won't seem as threatening. They might've had his back once before already. If this Phantom were someone you cared for, would you rather we left them be, or would you drag their noble behind here yourself to give them proper gear and back up?”
The question hung in the air for a moment, BS had nothing to counter with. Roman imagined Phantom being one of his friends, or even Janus and the answer remained the same.
“I will do what I can,” he vowed before lifting his chin and facing the fierce chief head on. “But ma'am, I don't appreciate you threatening my mentor like that.”
BS had stood up for him, it was only right for him to return the favor.
Davies chuckled. “Just when I started to worry you were only brawn and a pretty face. You can be smart too huh? And you’ve got guts. You just might have what it takes kid. Now. I have places to be. Keep me updated, and don't lose this.” Roman accepted the watch he was handed with a confused frown.
“My people will call if we need you. Please use that brain and return the favor?”
With that she left. Well… that was intense.
Roman put on the watch and saw that it had a frequency displayed on it instead of time. He also spotted two buttons. One blue and one red. It didn't take much to realize that one was a panic button and the other was to make it so the cops could hear him. He wondered if it would connect to the nearest patrol car or to Davies directly.
He hoped he’d never have to find out.
“Well… time to show the city their hero is ready for action.”
It had been a pleasant evening so far. He'd stopped a few shoplifters, broke up a fight or two and dodged a few reporters, though he let them snap a good picture of his new outfit.
Now the sun was down however and he was making his way to the back alleys.
“Looking for a fight is foolish Prince!” BS growled through his earpiece.
But Roman wasn't looking for a fight. He was looking for someone who'd gotten him out of at least one pickle.
He ignored BS as he landed on a roof, overlooking the city using his sight. He didn’t know what he was looking for exactly, but it was his only plan.
Suddenly he spotted something strange and unusual. There was an energy, a few blocks ahead. But it was impossible for him to really see it. Like he was looking at it trough glasses with strong prescriptions.
He rushed towards it and found a gang of criminals with violently swirling auras. He knew what this meant. They were going to hurt someone.
“Send back up to my location,” he instructed before turning the receiver off. He needed to focus.
“I say we attack now! They are week! We can take them down easily.” A shorter guy with energy like glass shards insisted.
“Boss says we have a truce until the rat is found,” a giant of a man stated calmly, though his energy betrayed how much he wanted to go with the first guy's plan.
Were they talking about Phantom?
“What rat!? Those idiots just bragged to the wrong crowd.” The first voice shot back. Phantom was becoming a bit of a ghost story it seemed. Some who believed, judging by the shudder that went through the other men's auras at the mere mention of them. But clearly not everyone was convinced.
“Oh and they gave out pictures as well? Did a little livestream? We're not safe until this rat is lynched,” the tall man pointed out tensely. He was a believer. And he wanted Phantom dead. Not good.
Roman studied the tugs and to his relief he spotted they were all armed. Weird thing to be happy about. But it meant he had probable cause to interfere.
He jumped down, slowing his descent just so that he didn't hurt himself on the landing without sacrificing the cool factor.
“Do you gentlemen have permits for those weapons?” he asked as he rose up to his full length facing them fearlessly.
“what the…?”
“It's that Prince clown!” Rude.
The tall guy, the leader probably, silenced the group with a gesture and smiled, his anxious energy almost completely disappearing. He'd found something to vent on. “Sure kid. Got mine right here.”
Roman flung his cape in front of him and manifested a gelatinous shield around himself as the leader pulled out his gun and fired several rounds at him. The tugs wouldn't see it. But it was there, and it caught the bullets slowing them down until they were harmless, making them fall to the ground when they met with the fabric.
“Well now you just pissed me off. This is brand new!” he complained as he dropped both cape and shield.
“I suppose you won't surrender peacefully?” he deduced. The criminals all readied their weapons. Seriously? Did they not get that he was essentially bulletproof?
He sighed as he took off his cape and hung it on a water pipe that ran down the side of the building.
“Fine,” he sighed and then he amped up his speed a bit while shielding himself from the rain of bullets heading his way. He used the gelatin shield because he didn't want to risk the bullets ricocheting and injuring someone. Especially the gifted he was sure was still watching the whole thing.
It wasn't hard to disarm the criminals. He even managed to knock a few to the ground. But there were at least two who'd gone down without him even touching them. And he would’ve sworn he saw a figure move between him and a tug once or twice to block a blow. He couldn't really see the other hero. It was an odd sensation. But he could feel his presence better and better and soon he was adapting his moves to those of the Phantom. Together they took out the whole group. Though to the villains it would seem like he'd done it by himself. He stood victorious over the leader, a pile of disassembled guns behind him and sirens lighting up the alley.
He twisted his foot to show off his white boot with gold accents. “So… how does it feel to get your butt kicked by a guy in heels?” he wondered playfully before looking up towards the presence and winking in acknowledgment.
“Good job Dream Prince. We've got it from here.” Roman turned to the cops and bowed to them
“It's my pleasure to be of assistance to the police of this fine city.” Then, while turning around, he made a gesture that could be taken as a ‘goodbye’, or as a ‘follow me’.
He was glad to notice that the presence seemed to follow him. He found a fire escape and floated himself to the roof it led to.
He turned to face his hopefully soon to be partner in crime fighting.
He could hear the clanging of someone climbing the metal fire escape. And while he still couldn't quite make out the figure that reached the roof he saw his reflection in a pool of water left behind by the rain earlier that day.
An unfortunate weakness, but so long as no one knew, no one would be looking for it. In order to be a hero, no one could know Phantom really existed. Was that why the authorities were kept at a distance? Why Phantom never made introductions despite having crossed paths at least once before?
He stepped forward with a bow. “Greetings Phantom. I must thank you for the assistance. Both just now and three months ago. I am Dream Prince, he/him if you please. A pleasure to officially meet you.”
A distorted chuckle made him look up. He could see Phantom much better now. He was dressed in Male coded clothes, though that was no guarantee. The hero outfit was simple. A black t-shirt, boots and denims, paired with a black coat that reached down to his calves and had the collar popped up. He looked really cool… but Roman couldn't make sense of his head. He was looking right at him he could see it, but his brain couldn't identify a thing.
It was so weird.
“Phantom huh?” His voice was a strange deep echoing sound. The distortion was pretty spooky if he was honest, but he wasn't afraid. Phantom was on his side.
“Sure you can call me that. He/him… mind telling me what that was about? I thought you officials weren't let of your leash unless you could be responsible enough to not get yourself killed?”
Roman cocked his brow. “Says the guy who has half the criminal underworld out for his blood,” he reminded him. Phantom looked away. Clearly he knew Roman had a point.
“Do you have something against the program?” His tone had been oddly bitter.
“No I…”  Phantom took in a deep breath. “Sorry, I’m just pissed at the cops for sending you, I guess.” He sure sounded upset. And Roman could understand that. Here Phantom was, doing his part and all the cops could do in return was bother him At least as far as the young vigilante could tell. But then why…?
“Yet you chose to follow me up here?” Roman pressed. That didn’t make any sense. Phantom had shaken off his ‘babysits’ before. What made Roman special?
“Um… Well… I just…” Phantom stammered. Roman wondered why. Was he bad with confrontation? Social interaction in general? Or had Roman said something that hit a nerve somehow?
“You interrupted my stake out!” Phantom blurted out all of a sudden.
“Do you know how long it takes to work my way up the ranks? First I have to find a low level runner, then I follow him to his boss, that guy to his and so up the ladder I go. I was getting real close to the big guy of this group. And now…” Oh… Well Roman could understand how that would be frustrating.
“I apologize,” he said sincerely with a small bow. “I merely intended to help. They were talking about killing you.” Surely he could understand that he could not stand by after hearing that.
“And now there is a price on your head! The leader of that little club is like two steps away from the big boss. They won’t be happy with you taking him in.”
Well… He had a point. But Roman had back up. It would be rather stupid of the mob to come after a hero with government sanctioning. And these guys would go behind bars for a long time right? “You got dirt on them?” he asked. If the guns weren’t enough then surely whatever Phantom  had gleaned from his stakeouts would be sufficient. Right?
“Yes… But that’s not the point. They have no clue about me. Not really. But you are out in the open. This is not your kind of mission Royal pain.” Oh, he had nicknames huh? It was an insult, but Roman didn’t mind witty banter. Especially if it came from a place of care. And Roman was starting to think it did.
“And now that you are out, you can’t expect me to hold your hand any longer…”
Roman crossed his arms and smirked catching the implications of what Phantom just said.
“You’ve been looking out for me all summer huh?” he guessed.
Phantom scoffed and probably rolled his eyes. While Roman still couldn’t quite see it, he would bet his entire Disney collection on it.
“It’s not like I came looking for you.” Phantom snapped. And Roman believed him.
“Still… Thank you…” he was going to say more but then he heard a beep in his ear followed by a loud voice. “Prince! Answer this instant!”
“Ow!” Roman exclaimed annoyed, reflexively reaching for his ear though it wouldn’t help much. He pressed the button to talk to BS. “One. Loud. Two. Rude! I am in the middle of something! And did you seriously remotely reactivate my com?”
He would demand a new com that couldn’t do that or he’d refuse to wear one period. What if he needed to concentrate right now? What if he was in the middle of tense negotiations or being told delicate information. As a matter of fact. This situation right here was delicate. One wrong move and Phantom might bolt. And he might not come along next time he found him. And even if he couldn’t get him to join the program, he wanted Phantom to know he had an ally in him. Someone to talk to, confide in, count on if he didn’t have anyone else.
“You do not turn off your com while going into a gunfight! It’s moronic to go in alone!”
Roman rolled his eyes. “I am fine, not a scratch on me.” He wasn’t going to mention that he wasn’t alone exactly. Phantom had never consented to BS and the rest of his team knowing.
“I’ll call you when I’m done here.” And this time he took the com out of his ear. BS could yell at him later.
“Sorry,” he sighed. “My mentor is… intense at times.” In a cold and distant way.
“Mentor?” Phantom asked.
“One of the people helping me practice my powers, test my limits. Comes with the program. It’s not just a babysit and a nice suit,” he joked casually.
“Oh…” Phantom’s tone was odd. It made Roman want to come closer and offer comfort. He didn’t though. They weren’t at that point yet. Not by a long shot.
“Listen, I admit I was sent by the chief. But I didn’t come here to recruit you. I wanted to thank you and tell you… If you ever need someone to talk to, to help you figure something out… I’d be more than happy to oblige. No need to tell me your name or anything about yourself,” he vowed as he reached out his hand. Phantom hesitated for a few moments before bridging the distance and offering his own.
Roman grinned and grabbed it for a firm shake. “I’ll see you next time,” he assured his fellow hero before letting go and turning around to finish his patrol.
Progress was made. Not much, but still.
He just might’ve made a new friend.

Husband series [2/8] | Seonghwa
Word count: 3.8k Pairing: ex-husband! Yunho x single mom! reader x boyfriend! Seonghwa Genre: mostly fluff, kinda cliché af?? A/N: Second work out of the eight that I’m not really proud of... as usual, the gif doesn’t have anything to do with the fic :’)
Tumblr media
You sighed as you looked for your child in the store, worryingly pushing strands of hair out of your eyes. Two minutes of inattention were enough for him to walk away, carelessly wandering around the shop. He was still quite young, but he was able to walk without your help, freeing him from any restraint.
“How could we lose him?” your boyfriend Seonghwa exclaimed as he looked around him, brows knitted. You were on the verge of tears and abandoned the trolley in a corner. Seonghwa gently caressed your back as you started searching for your son again.
“Minwoo? Minwoo, baby, where are you?” you said louder, starting to imagine the worst-case scenarios that could have happened to your son. You hurriedly trotted through the store, earning side glances from the rest of the shoppers, sometimes meeting Seonghwa at the end of an alley, only to find him alone. Your son was the most precious thing you had in your life and you couldn’t see yourself without him. It didn’t matter if you lost your boyfriend, you had already lost your husband by the past, but you’d kill to keep Minwoo by your side. You neared the fish counter and noticed a small boy next to two tall men, who were showing him the living sea animals in the huge tanks next to the fridges. You recognised the dark blue jacket your mom knitted for Minwoo and felt a weight flying away from your chest. However, you didn’t recognise the men next to him, so you ran towards your son.
“Minwoo!” you almost screamed and rushed to your son, grabbing him from behind, not paying attention to the men next to your son. “How many times did I tell you not to leave my side when we grocery shop! We were worried about you with Seonghwa!” you said in one breath, your hand cradling his head on your shoulder. “But Daddy,” you heard your son said and you froze. “What do you mean, “Daddy”?” Minwoo looked up from your shoulder and you recoiled as he pointed to one of the men. The man you didn’t recognise was none other than your ex-husband, Yunho, accompanied by Mingi, his best friend. After seeing his face, you noticed that he hadn’t changed, even after years of divorce. His hair was a bit shorter, but his facial features were the same as when you parted ways. He was wearing a suit and tie, an embarrassed smile drawn on his face. Your eyes widened when Minwoo made grabby hands at him, happy to meet his dad. “Hi Y/N,” Yunho managed to say, rubbing his neck, “I didn’t expect to meet you there,” you clenched your teeth and awkwardly smiled, not really knowing what to say. “Ah, Y/N, you found him,” you pursed your lips and closed your eyes as your boyfriend arrived, ready to take you and your son in his arms. He took a step back when he noticed Yunho and Mingi. Minwoo, who was in your arms, did everything to touch his father. Mingi, behind the two of you, took a step back and waited a bit further away to clear things out. He knew your situation since he was also a good friend of yours, your divorce preventing you from hanging out with him.
“What’s happening here?” Seonghwa said and none of you answered. You stared at Seonghwa, feeling sorry that he had to witness this awkward encounter. You could see his brain working, his eyes going from you to Minwoo, then to Yunho and his eyes widened when everything clicked in his head. For some reasons, you couldn’t talk, and the three men around you noticed that. You were frozen on the spot. Yunho cleared his throat and extended his hand towards your boyfriend. “I’m Yunho, Y/N’s ex-husband and… Minwoo’s father and, that’s Mingi, a good friend of mine,” he said, gesturing to Mingi, who nodded with a dull face. “I believe that you’re her new partner?” Seonghwa shook his hand without a word, his eyes never leaving your ashamed ones. He detached his eyes from you and looked at your ex, shaking his hand with such force that his digits turned white. “Exactly, I’m Seonghwa,” He said and his eyes darkened, suddenly remembering the reason why you divorced.
Of course, you had told him by the past the reason why you parted ways with your ex-husband, and he was mad. He was mad that your husband acted like a complete coward, scared of his parents. Yunho was someone from the high class. His parents owned an immensely powerful company and he fell in love with you the minute he saw you entering one of his parents’ restaurants. It was a place that your friends didn’t usually go to, but she wanted to celebrate your well-deserved promotion and went there, lucky to find a free table at rush hour. He immediately introduced himself as the son of the restaurant’s owner. Your friends were impressed, you were quite too, but you didn’t show it. You treated him like an ordinary person, with respect, but you didn’t admire or glorify him as your friends did. You beamed and nodded at his jokes, making him feel weird not to have everyone laughing and smiling like everyone did when he was around. He found you hard to get and Yunho loved challenges. At the end of your meal, he boldly asked for your number and you gave it to him without really thinking about it. However, when he was in private, he was way calmer but still very flirty, charming you with his sweet words and actions you exchanged until your first date.
After two years of life together, he introduced you to his parents and it was one of the worst nights you’ve ever had. You put a lot of efforts for your appearance, going to the hair and nail salon, buying an expensive, chic dress with heels. You almost chickened out at last minute but Yunho comforted you and you walked out of his car. But now, in hindsight, you shouldn’t have ever entered this mansion. The dinner was tense, even Yunho could sense it. His parents made zero effort to welcome you in their family, both of them shook your hands with such strength that it made you whine when they turned around. You kept your head high the entire dinner even if they put you down, subtly telling their son that you weren’t good enough for him. They even suggested in front of you that he should get married to someone richer and more influential. You swallowed your pride and feelings when you were in front of them, but you let everything out as soon as you entered your home. Yunho apologised for his parents’ behaviour but it didn’t make you feel better. The only thing you wanted to do was breaking up with him and get away as fast as possible from the two sharks that were his parents. Yunho begged you to stay and promised that he’d make everything to keep your relationship alive. And you believed him.
After months of struggle and rebellion, his parents reluctantly let him date you. On the other side, your parents were happy and proud that you were with Yunho, even if his parents were mean to you. It was sounded better to have their daughter dating a son from a rich company than being happy with someone from your social class. Sadly, showing off was something really important for your parents. They were even happier when Yunho proposed to you during one of your trips abroad. You had said yes without really thinking about the consequences with his parents, and it created many, many problems. You had to hide the ring every time your future mother-in-law randomly paid a visit to her son’s house. One night, she was there and Yunho was about to enter the house, but you pretended to go grab a bottle of wine from the cellar, grabbing Yunho by his tie and pulling him here. Yunho was thinking about something else as you untied his tie knot and unclasped his thin golden chain, your promised ring hung from it. You took off your ring from your finger and hid it behind a wine bottle, grabbing another one as you quietly explained the situation to your future husband. He nodded as he redid his tie, acting as you ran into him as you went out of the cellar in front of his mother.
One night, seeing your distress, Yunho offered you to marry him in secret. You were very against it at the beginning, worried about his parents and their power, but he promised to make everything work. He invited only your family and your closest friends and celebrated this wonderful day in a small group. You were a bit anxious to see his parents show up unannounced, but fortunately, they didn’t.
One day, as you slid your key into the slot, you realised that the door was unlocked. You first thought of housebreaking since Yunho’s house was big and filled with different kind of luxury items, silently making your way to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Someone was upstairs and rummaging through yours and Yunho’s stuff. You instantly sent a text to Yunho about the current situation and took off your shoes, easier for you to climb up the stairs without making any noise. Through the poorly closed door, you recognised his mother, raging mad, searching through everything. You hid the knife in the bathroom next to you, scared that she might kill you when she’ll find out the truth. When she saw you, she yelled, hurriedly pacing towards you.
“You filthy bitch!” she said as she went to grab your blazer, but you pushed her away, feeling the rage boiling in your body as well. “What is wrong with you, what do you want?” you yelled back, making eye contact with her. “How can you enter your son’s house like a burglar?” “Oh,” she exclaimed, eyes shooting bolt lighting towards you, “you dare to call me a burglar when you are the biggest gold-digger out of all my son's girlfriends? You’re only dating him for his money, his fame and power we have in the city. I won’t let you ruin our reputation by dating and marrying my son! A silly cow like you doesn’t deserve to get a taste of luxury,” her behaviour truly shocked you, each word spilling out of her mouth sending daggers to your heart and pride. You gulped and started to walk back, noticing every item around her that could serve as a weapon. “Now, where do you hide it?” she spat and furrowed your brows. What was she talking about? “The ring, you bloody foul, where do you hide it, hm? You can’t deny anything, I found the wedding ring bill in Yunho’s desk drawer. Tell me where it is!!” she screamed, and you thought that she was going mad. You clearly didn’t want to fight or hurt her, knowing that she’d take you to court for your acts, so you avoided her as much as possible. Hoping that Yunho would come soon, you heavily inhaled and remained silent. “I’m going to ruin your life if you don’t tell me where it is.” “Mom!” Yunho yelled from downstairs and came up in a blink, shielding you from his mother with his body. Get out of my way, son.” She said through gritted teeth but Yunho didn’t move. “Get out of my house first. How dare you coming in like a robber?!” he forced her to walk down the stairs by pushing her with his body, and you shivered when she looked at you. She squinted her eyes and pointed her finger towards you. “You,” she whispered, ignoring her son, “don’t think that you’ve won. You don’t know me, I’ll fucking destroy you.” Yunho pushed his mom out of the house, closing the door and locking it.
Three months after this incident, you discovered that you were pregnant with Minwoo. You were happy but his parents were the only fly in the ointment. During the time of your pregnancy, Yunho and you decided to live in a smaller house in the countryside, an unknown place for his parents. Yunho worked from home as much as he could and so did you, your maternity leave coming way sooner than you expected it. Those nine months flew by and you almost felt like breathing again, without being constantly feared that his parents would show up. You even had nightmares of it at the beginning of your pregnancy, but Yunho was here to protect you. However, a week before the scheduled birth date, you went back to your house and Yunho changed the door locks, preventing his parents from breaking in as his mother did.
A night where you were alone, Yunho paying a visit to his parents, labour had just begun, your waters just broke. It was very painful, yet you managed to call your husband to announce him the news. Yunho was stuck, he couldn’t leave his parents so suddenly without arousing suspicions about your pregnancy. He excused himself from his parents, but they didn’t let him go so easily and you started screaming in pain in the phone, his mother instantly understanding everything. She grabbed her son’s phone from his hand and threw the cellular on the floor. You were still on the line, but you were starting to be weak, not able to call for Yunho anymore. You were about to hang up to call someone else, but you heard his mother’s words.
“You divorce with this witch immediately or we’re disowning you. I’m calling our lawyer.” You hung up and called Mingi, knowing that he’d help while Yunho fixed the situation with his parents. His friend was terrified and concerned, but he managed to drive you to the hospital before you gave birth. Before falling asleep from exhaustion with your newborn son on your chest, you begged Mingi to look after you and he promised, allowing you to rest.
Yunho never came to see you. You learnt from a nurse that he still came and signed the birth certificate, but he never came to see you and his child that you carried for nine months. Mingi and his mother came to visit, taking care of you like her own daughter-in-law. They understood you because they weren’t the same as Yunho’s family, Mingi's parents worked hard to allow their son to work in this company, yet they were still mad that Yunho never came to visit. Once you could get out of the hospital (you had to stay a few more days because the doctors found that you were exhausted and dehydrated), Mingi and his mom took care of Minwoo while you drove back to Yunho’s house. When you entered the house, you had to lean against the doorway when you saw boxes filled with your clothes and other belongings.
“Yunho?” you called with a small voice, eyes filling with tears. You heard footsteps coming from upstairs and the tall man appeared, tear-stained cheeks and puffy eyes. He ran downstairs with a devastated face. “I’m so sorry Y/N,” he said, and you shook your head, understanding that it was too late. You swallowed and refused Yunho’s embrace, starting to drag the boxes outside, putting the maximum in the trunk of your car. In less than a month, you were homeless, a mother and divorced. When you closed the car trunk, you sighed and Yunho grabbed your wrist. He placed a set of keys linked to a tag, an address messily written on it. “I bought this apartment for you, I’ll come to visit when the situation will quiet down a bit.” He closed your palm on the key and you opened his other palm, putting your wedding ring in it. “Thank you, but I can’t do it anymore. I can’t risk my life, Minwoo’s and yours just because of your parents. I’ll put the keys of this apartment in the mailbox once I’ll find something else I can afford.” You said as you cried, starting to walk to the driver seat. “Please Y/N,” “No Yunho, we can’t. I can’t do it anymore. You didn’t even come to see me and our child. You didn't even ask why he's not with me right now. Everything stopped here for me. Our years of relationship, our marriage, it all ended. Thank you for the wonderful memories but it’s over. And deep down, you know that it’s already over, your parents probably forced you to sign the papers anyway. Goodbye Yunho.”
He sent you one last text that night, telling you that he was sorry and that they sent him in America, for “business matters” and it was the last time you heard from him. It took you months to move on and start again. You had found a place to stay which was smaller but closer to your workplace, a day-care centre only a block away from your apartment. Minwoo grew up and started asking for his father and you quietly explained to him why he didn’t have a father. You kept a picture of the two of you framed next to the door, showing it to your son every time he asked for his father. At first, he cried, but he slowly understood that you were still loving him and trying your best even if you couldn’t give him a father. You had also tried to date again, but you were so worried about your son in day-care that you never enjoyed any of them. It was hard to be a single mom, feeling worthless and unlovable each time you came home from an unsuccessful date. You knew that your son loved you, but it wasn't comparable to the love you could get from a caring man.
Since your work was closer, you privileged the public transports over the car. You entered the bus and your son suddenly started crying for no apparent reason. You tried to feed him, give him his cuddly toy, but nothing changed, he was crying at the top of his lungs. You were so embarrassed that you barely looked up, profoundly apologising to everyone around you, nearly in tears due to exhaustion and shame. The man in front of you looked around your age and his gaze on your son was tender. He tried to catch your son’s attention by grabbing his plushie, waving it in front of his face, the cries slowly fading as the man in front of you portrayed a funny sweet voice while talking to your son through his toy. Minwoo was now mesmerised by his talking plushie, laughing, and hugging it close to him while looking at the man in front of you. You rested your head against the window, and you sighed along with a few other people around you, relieved that your son had stopped crying.
“Thank you so much,” you said to the young man and he smiled. “It’s nothing, I couldn’t let this little man embarrass his mother,” he chuckled, and you started talking to each other until you had to get off the bus. He was named Seonghwa, and came with you to your workplace, distracting Minwoo from crying. You thanked him again and went to work, feeling more peaceful. Meeting Seonghwa on the bus had become your daily routine. He was an interesting and smart man, bringing you entertained until your stop, looking forward each time to see him the next day. Bus rides turned into dates, smiles turned into kisses, closeness turned into caresses and tenderness. You fell in love with him, hard, and you were scared, but he reassured you. You had almost forgotten your ex-husband and his tormenting family, hoping to never see them again. You were doing well. Until tonight.
You cannot lie, Yunho looked happy and surprised to see his son for the first time, but Seonghwa didn’t agree. You noticed the two men menacingly stare at each other and the atmosphere was tense. You couldn’t let them start a fight in the middle of the shop, so you grabbed Seonghwa’s hand, quickly bidding goodbye to your ex-husband, as well as Mingi and left the fish counter as quickly as possible. Once everything was in the car trunk, you sat Minwoo in his seat and went to the passenger seat, Seonghwa waiting for you to go home. You took big breaths during the journey home, expecting your boyfriend to leave you or not talk to you for a while. Why did you have to run into your ex-husband when you were with him? Why did it have to happen? You got out of the car as soon as it stopped in the driveway, taking in a big bowl of fresh air. You shook your head in defeat and opened the car door, unfastening your son’s seatbelt, carefully carrying him to your apartment and put him to bed. Seonghwa was tidying the grocery around the kitchen when you came downstairs, taking a glass of water along with a pill for headaches. Your boyfriend closed the fridge door and observed you, noticing that you were on the verge of tears. He walked towards you and took you in his arms, shushing you as you quietly cried on his shoulder.
“I’m sorry-” “I know the memories and scars are still vivid, but you need to move on. I saw how sad and upset you looked when we met him, but I won’t let this ungrateful bastard destroy what we built together. You were doing fine so far, we managed to make you forget him and I won’t let you dive back in your sorrow. You’ve been strong for so long, it’s not the time to give up. Do it for your son, for yourself, and for us as a pair. You need me, I need you, Minwoo needs healthy parents and I’m ready to take this role. Forget about this man, I promise that you will be better and healthier without him and his family.” Seonghwa whispered and worked his fingers through your hair, “I wasn’t so sure about bringing up a child who wasn’t mine, but I realised that I love you too much to let you down.” His words made you burst into tears and he shushed you, his fingers working in your hair. “I’m sorry that we had to see him, I swear it wasn’t planned.” You whispered and Seonghwa exhaled at your words, realising how guilty you felt. “No need to swear Y/N, and it’s okay. Let’s forget that for a while, shall we? You look really tired.” Seonghwa kissed your temple and you nodded, letting your boyfriend carry you to your bedroom.
Seonghwa made sure to kiss you on the cheek and dry your wet tears, his arm circling your waist before you both fell asleep in one breath.

Secret Admirer
Lev Haiba x reader
one shot, fluff
dm if you have any requests, hope you enjoy this valentine’s day special!
———————————————————————
At school you were quite popular, since you were so nice to everyone you met. A couple boys had asked you out (about 3) this semester but you turned them all down. After all you were only a first year and needed to concentrate on your studies. It’s not like you liked any of them anyways.
Today is Monday February 1st, Valentine’s day’s month. Everyone seemed to be in a love mood and eventually that atmosphere got to you too. You kinda envied all the happy couples...
Distracted by all these thoughts you mechanically open your locker, but something pulls you out of your auto-pilot mode.
A letter? How could it have gotten in your locker? You look around but no one seems to be looking at you. Weird. You open it, eager to know who it’s from.
“Dear y/k,
I’ve had my eyes on you for a while now. You’re all i can think about at night, you’re all i can think about in class, you’re all i can think about at practice... From the first time i met you, your [eye colour] eyes charmed me. I can only hope that one day you’ll be mine.”
The letter wasn’t signed. Was it a joke? From one of your friends perhaps? But if it was real... then who? They did mention practice so they have to be on some sports team right?
That was your only clue, so it was no good to try to figure it out. You didn’t even know their gender or their year! It would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
You sigh on your way to class, now totally distracted. Your friends seem to think something is off so you show them the letter. Now that you think of it, it can’t be one of them since the handwriting doesn’t match.
They make tons of guesses at lunch but who knows if they’re right? You can’t concentrate on your classes this afternoon as you keep reading the letter over and over.
When it’s time to go home, you pass the gyms on your way to the school gate. The volleyball team is practicing tonight and there seem to be a new player, a tall guy with silver hair. You can also spot Kuroo, the team captain and Tamahiko and Yuki, some boys from your class.
You shrug it off. There’s plenty of teams at school, and there was no mention of volleyball in the letter. The sender most likely doesn’t want me to find them...
You get home and do your homework, but your heart and head are not into it. You can’t stop thinking about that new boy. His name was Lev, or something like that, and he’s half russian. He’s so tall, he must be about 6’5! Anyways it’s probably not him, it’s most likely a weird guy or some creepy stalker.
The next morning, you’re shocked to find another letter in your locker. Your heart starts beating faster as you open it. Maybe there’ll be another hint?
“Dear y/k,
It’s me again... I wasn’t going to write again but you’re the only thing on my mind. I wish I had the courage to confess to you, but you probably don’t give a damn about me, so what would be the point? If only I was man enough to tell you these things in person”
So it’s someone that’s not close to you, but still close enough that they could fall in love with you. And you now know for sure it’s a boy, so that narrows it down a bit. At lunch you decide to show your friends, who all become super excited. Your friend Yuri decides to make a list of “suspects”.
“I bet it’s Ryu, he has a locker close to you no? That way he could’ve spied your lock combination!” says Sakura in an enthusiastic tone.
“Ryu? no way! I’m sure it’s either Giyu or Kaya, they sit close to y/k and i’m pretty sure i’ve caught them staring before!” replies Minato.
“Guys it has to be someone on a team of some sort, since he mentioned practice!” says Aiko, cutting them off.
The table falls silent as they all wonder.
“Perhaps Yuki?”, tries Minato. “he’s on the volleyball ball team and y/k has a few classes with him.” , she explains.
“that would make sens... maybe it’s that new russian guy though, Lev! Or maybe Tamahiko? You have classes with these two too!”, replies Yuri. She writes down those 3 names.
“imagine if it was Kuroo, the captain! He’s so hot...”, says Aiko in a dreamy voice.
“there isn’t just the volleyball team though, our school has plenty!”, replies Sakura.
The bell rings shortly after that and you have to concentrate on a math exam all afternoon.
God who could it be? That question keeps you up that night and you only truly wake up upon finding another letter in your locker. You look around again, and spot Yuki close by, at his locker. It might be him after all...
“Hey y/k,
It’s me again. I’m starting to fear you might find out who i am, and yet i kind of want you to... But what if you’re disappointed? You know what? Here, let me give you a clue: I’m a first year too.”
Now that narrows it down a bit more... you now know he’s a first year, a guy and a team of some sort.
When you show your friends they all get super excited, especially Aiko and Yuri.
They start adding people to yesterday’s list, but your head’s not into it. You can’t keep thinking about who it might be... And if you found out, what would you do? Depends on who it is, for sure.
For the rest of the week and the following one too, you find a letter in your locker every day.
They say romantic stuff like
“i wish you could be mine”
“if only i could be the reason for that beautiful smile of yours”
“the things i’d do to feel your lips on mine”
Is it possible to be in a person who’s identity I don’t know? you think to yourself.
Today is Friday February 12th, the last day of school before Valentine’s Day.
Your head is in the clouds as you walk in the school and go to your locker mechanically. But you stop dead in your tracks upon seeing that someone is already at your locker.
Your heart starts racing as you walk up to them. They close the locker to reveal... Lev Haiba??
« Lev? Wha- what are you doing”, you stutter, feeling your face become warm.
His eyes widen and he just stares at you in total shock.
“y/k i’m- i’m so sorry i- i- uh i can explain! it’s uh i’m just checking if...”, he starts explaining really fast. He’s obviously really nervous. It has to be him.
You glance at your locker, and there’s a letter inside. You pick it up and ask the question you’ve been asking yourself for two weeks now.
“So it’s you..?”
“i- no!!! i mean... yes but... i’m- i know you probably don’t feel the same way and i know i’m just a coward-” he starts rambling again.
“Lev.” you cut him off. “I... was actually kinda hoping it was you.”
He blushes until his face is the same shade as his tie. You feel yourself blushing too as you step closer to him. You kiss his cheek.
“How about we do something on the 14th?” you ask gently. He nods frantically. “alright i’ll see you then, here’s my number” you scribble on a piece of paper and give it to him.
You run off to class year hearth still beating fast. When you reveal the identity of your secret admirer, your friends go CRAZY. They squeal and yell and you have to silence them before people start staring.
[timeskip]
It’s Sunday, February 14th. Valentine’s day, and your date with Lev is in 5 minutes. You’re walking towards the cafe you guys are supposed to meet at. You’re wearing casual but pretty clothes, just a bit of makeup and cute sneakers.
You spot him at a table as you enter the cafe. He looks so cute in a hoodie... You greet him awkwardly and sit down in front of him.
The date goes smoothly and you guys actually have loads of common interests. You agree to come to an official Volleyball match soon, on the 27th. It’s about 3 o’clock when Lev suddenly gets more quiet.
“Are you ok?”, you ask, worried.
“Yes it’s just... you’re so amazing and I wonder if... if... if you’d let me take you out again.”
Of course you accept. How could someone say no to this sweet little bean?
You get out of the cafe and Lev offers to walk you home. When you pass by the park, he offers to watch the sunset before going home.
You sit down on a wooden bench and watch as the sun goes down and the sky turns to a pink shade of orange. But Lev isn’t watching the sunset, he’s only watching you.
You turn to him. He blushes as he puts a hand to your face. As he strikes your cheek, you both lean in slowly until you’re only 2 inches apart. You feel his warm breath close to you as you slowly close your eyes. His soft lips come crashing on yours.
When you finally break the kiss, he looks at you like you’re his entire world.
“y/k, i’ve told you before in my letters but i wanted to tell you face to face.” he takes a deep breath. “i love you”
This catches you off guard. You catch your breath before replying “i love you too, Lev”.
You kiss him again, for what seems like an eternity, but it’s still painful to have to part.
“will you... be my girlfriend?”, he says while fidgeting with his hands.
“i will”, you reply softly.
You spend 5 more minutes kissing in the sunset before your boyfriend walks you home. His hand is gigantic compared to yours, it feels so safe. The hug he gives you before saying goodbye is the most loved you’ve ever felt.

promise ring | k. tetsurou
i haven’t written for kuroo in a while and this was inspired while i was listening to yagami yato on youtube!
taglist: @miyulovestowrite @heccingdead @dorkyama @tillitbreaks @haikyuu-ink
warning: angst (???), some curse words, suggestive language
summary: you run into your ex, Kuroo, and have a heart to heart talk
Tumblr media
Today was not being good to you at all. From your research adviser berating you the entire hour you had with her because you were 5 minutes late and wouldn’t accept the excuse that your last class of the day had run a little longer than usual to you forgetting your umbrella in your apartment the one day you need it as the rain starts to get harder. And just when you thought your day couldn’t get any worse, your ex comes by to wait out the rain in the same waiting shed with you.
“D’you have a nice shower?,” Kuroo asked, fighting off a smile as his eyes took in your wet and disheveled state despite being soaking wet himself.
Having no energy to deal with him, or anyone at all, and not having anything witty to quip back at him, you just ignored him. The sound of the pouring rain filling in the silence that settled between the both of you.
After a few moments Kuroo spoke up, he just wanted to be able to hear your voice again. “It’s nice seeing you here.”
“We’re enrolled in the same university, Kuroo, we’re bound to bump into each other at some point.” You said, deadpan,  looking at him from the corner of your eyes. His usually messy bedhead was damp and pressed against his forehead as he pulled his jacket around him, seeking warmth.
You hadn’t seen each other, given the fact that you were trying to avoid him, ever since the pair of you went your separate ways. It wasn’t that you hated him, you could never hate him, it’s just that every time that you look at him your heart can’t help but skip a beat and your mind always brings you back to when the both of you were still together - it still hurts, more than you’d like to admit.
“I-I know, just thought I'd have to wait until grad to see you again.” He laughed a little, a sigh escaping his lips. “I miss you, (y/n), I -”
Turning to face him, a scowl on your usually calm features. Something inside you snapped, as if the floodgates were opened and all your pent up emotions were gushing out. This would have been appropriate when you were reaching out for him, but he chooses this moment to have the nerve to say this to you? “Stop, don’t you fucking continue that. You miss me? Is this another one of your jokes, Kuroo?”
“No, (y/n), please, I-”
“Y-you can’t just say that after a year! Where was this when I actually needed you?” You asked, tears starting to blur your vision, you hastily wiped the tears away. “That’s a foul and you know it.”
Kuroo looked at you, his heart breaking at the sight of you crying because of him. “I know I was an asshole for what I did to you, and I don’t expect you to forgive -”
“You left me hanging in the air, Tetsu, you don’t just ghost someone! Period!” You sobbed, your voice breaking, hating how much of an effect he still had on you to this very day.
Silence once again graced you both with its presence, both of you unsure of what to do and say,  as you pathetically wipe away the tears, tears that you shouldn’t even be shedding any more.
“I got scared.” Kuroo said, breaking the silence. “Everything between you and me was going so well, you know? It was perfect and we were two dorks just head over heels one another, it was just one amazing thing after another with you that it freaked me out. Nothing good ever happens to me for that long… there always has to be a catch.”
Staying quiet, curious to hear what else Kuroo had to say, you just turned your head to look at him, giving him your full attention.
Kuroo, well aware that you’re looking at him right now, keeps his eyes trained in front of him. “I got a little paranoid waiting for whatever catch there was, but nothing came, and it terrified me, because the longer I’m happy the more horrible things bite me in the ass. So I left.”
He let out a mirthless laugh, tears streaming down his face. “I never wanted to leave you, (y/n). I was just a coward, still am, and you didn’t deserve a single ounce of the pain I made you go through.”
“That was a dick move, even for you.” You spoke, sniffling a bit. “I waited so long for you, Kuroo, I looked like an idiot holding onto nothing, holding onto your false promises. You could have just told me, I could have understood.”
It wasn’t much, but getting to have this talk with him was something that you’ve always imagined day in and day out up until this very day. You just wanted to know what went wrong and why it ended the way it did, always thinking that you did something horrible that he just had to pull himself away from you in the most painful way possible.
“You’re still wearing the promise ring I gave you.” Kuroo said, the corner of his mouth pulling up into a small wistful smile. “So my promises to you before must have meant something...right?” The latter being more of a question rather than a statement.
You stiffened, a blush spreading across your cheeks,  at the mention of the promise ring, which was still  adorning your left ring finger, not thinking that he’d even notice it at all.
The ring was a gift from Kuroo the night he asked you to officially be his girlfriend, promising you that he would never leave your side and that his heart is yours and no one else’s, and that he’d always make it a point to keep you happy with him. A part of you is still clinging onto those promises even after a year, it’s not something you’re particularly proud of, but you still haven’t completely moved on from him despite being left like that.
“It still does, but that doesn’t matter anymore, now does it?”
Kuroo smiled a little at your reply. “Still nice to know that it still means something to you. I still remember how much you cried when I gave you that.”
“Hey! Can’t a girl just be happy? It was sweet, you jerk.” You huffed, but you could feel a smile creeping on your lips as you recalled how you must have looked  while sobbing at the cafe where you two were having a date.
He shrugged, chuckling, glad that the tension between the both of you has somehow dissipated. “I do have my moments.”
Unbeknownst to the both of you, the rain had already stopped and the sun was peeking through the clouds, its rays shining down and bringing warmth. It was as if the world was the one who gave you this opportunity to get to see and talk with Kuroo about what you’ve been keeping to yourself, and now it’s up to you to take the reigns and steer it into the direction you want it to go.
“My apartment is just two blocks away, and I still have some of your clothes lying around.” You spoke up hesitantly. “We can go there and hang out if you want.”
Kuroo looked at you, a smirk already present on his lips and his golden eyes absolutely shining with mirth. “Oya, oya, already trying to get into my pants, (y/n)?”
“Then enjoy the commute to your apartment while being soaking wet.” You huffed, your cheeks burning, standing up and already making your way to your apartment.
“I-I was just kidding! C’mon, (y/n), don’t let me get sick!” He whined, already trailing behind you as he tried to fall into step with you.
You don’t know what’s in store for you and Kuroo and where you’ll both go, but what you do know is that your heart still skips a beat whenever he makes one of his corny science jokes and that he has already carved a place in your heart that no one but him will be able to fill.
