Oooh that's a good question! @simplepotatofarmer Well, if we're going with my two more developed AUs - CHF!Dream and AH!Dream would have one heck of a time adjusting. Quick premise, in the RivalsChildhoodfriendsAU the DSMP is a roleplay group that performs and livestreams similar to like Critical Role. All the characters are friends, and none of the damage is real.

AccidentalHuman AU is set in the world of the DSMP, timeline adjusted to where Dream was in the prison for a time, but Techno was in on the plan from the beginning and had the plans to bust him out. So no major damage to Dream's psyche happens here - he still has some issues but they're not as bad. He joins the Syndicate after being broken out and joins them on their missions.

So CHF!Dream would be hella confused when he drops into the world and the people who he's friends with, and was just talking to hours before not only don't respond to his questions but are actively try to kill him. Thankfully he's not too far from Techno's cabin, which the coordinates are the same in both worlds, and he's super happy to see some friendly familiar faces. That is until he see's Techno... XD I'd think after some explaining, they determine what happened and the poor members on the Syndicate add another weird phenomenon to their growing roster of things to fix. It's a bit of an adjustment, him hearing that this world plays out like his RP but it's real - kind of sends him into a depression for a bit. (He's also super sad to learn that the Exdee of this world is cold and manipulative). AH!Techno would be kind of weird/awkward around CHF!Dream for a bit - mostly because CHF!Dream acts super familiar with him. I think most of the group would be a little weirded out by CHF!Dream tbh, because he's like super normal? Like their Dream is not unfriendly, but he's a little cagey about certain things, and a little more battle-hardened. But this Dream? He's like an open book. I mean CHF!Dream is no slouch, he's still a champion fighter, but he doesn't flinch at certain names, or get upset when Tommy is mentioned. Actually he's super fond of Tommy and Wilbur, which weirds the hell out of AH!Techno for a bit. He's just... lighter. He has a good time in this world all considered, and kind of lifts everyone's spirits just being a little sunshine boy. On the flip side, AH!Dream would be a nightmare for everyone for a bit. He wakes up swinging, and it takes Exdee the better part of the day trying to calm him down. Only for him to go right back to fighting when CHF!Techno shows up. The Syndicate is called in and after AH!Dream sees some more familiar faces he kind of calms down. It's very clear for the people around him that this is not their Dream, and after a lengthy process they manage to get enough info on the situation to start to formulate a plan. (The fact he's lived their RP story and actually went through the things they pretended... kind of horrifies the group). First thing though, they send out a message to the rest of the DSMP that Dream would not be attending some scheduled RP streams due to... "extenuating" circumstances. (Tommy is def not allowed to visit for a while). So in the meantime, AH!Dream ends up staying with the Syndicate, for the other's safety mostly. This time it's his turn to be weirded out, because everyone is so friendly. Phil is super parental to him, and Niki and Ranboo are relaxed and don't seem haunted? Not to mention Exdee being around, and like... fretting over him? At some point he overhears Techno talking to Sapnap and George explaining that something's happened and they'd have to postpone some lore stuff, and wonders how in the world they're in contact. To say he is skeptical about the whole situation would be an understatement. The group makes it a point to actually get AH!Dream some therapy because some gut reactions he has to situations kind of scare them a bit. It takes him a while to believe that he's not actually in danger, that this is not an elaborate trap, and that the people around him are actually his friends. At some point he actually starts to envy CHF!Dream because his life is not as complicated as his.

How they switched and how they get home idk, they do return to their respective lives at some point, but yeah, they're not to dissimilar from each other so I don't think it would be catastrophic, its kind of like if an actor and the character they play were to switch places? (It would be totally different if it was c!Dream dropped in either world...)

Okay so more playdate au (tagged #playdate au) lore:

Dream is the oldest of three siblings: Techno (the cool middle kid who tends to play video games inside and has a stock pile of nerf guns hidden in his room), Sapnap (typically playing with his best friends, the troublemakers: Karl and Quackity), and George (the youngest who often retreats inside because of a meltdown or naptime)

Punz is Dream’s best friend and whenever their parents get together, they are left to babysit Punz’s younger siblings: Lazar and Vik.

Dream doesn’t mind being the villain at first, in fact he actually finds it fun and kinda cathartic until it’s taken too far and he becomes the “controlling parent” who’s a killjoy.

While Exiled Tommy trips and scrapes his knee while chasing Dream for the Discs, who took them after Tommy was using them to the hit people visiting him in Exile.

The incident is the start of school.

Wilbur is the jealous kid next door and Phil is his older brother, who is often left in charge to babysit.

Philza has to take over as pseudo lifeguard one afternoon when Wilbur gets set to take a nap after being grumpy and having a temper tantrum.

Phil tends to stay in the nice air conditioned inside, where Niki convinces him to bake cookies and he watches movies (like Frozen ;D) or plays video games with Techno.

Ranboo, who has major FOMO, often comes in and joins because he can’t decide which area to play in. Sometimes he drags Tubbo, who of course brings Michael, inside too when he needs some help against beating Techno in a video game.

Most of the names are made up obviously, though some people kept their real names or just added something to their existing one.

Quackity: “Hi Sam, is Clay okay?”

Sam *guarding the bottom of the slide* Sam: “Yeah, he just got overstimulated, had to take a break from everyone.”

Quackity: “Oh okay, maybe I should go check on him”

Tommy had managed to slip away from the campsite while Dream was out doing something. He ran and he ran as far away as he could, up into the nearby mountains. The cold bit at his extremities through his lackluster clothing. He thought for sure he was going to die out here (not that that would be worse than his current situation in exile) until he came across Technoblade’s cabin in the woods. He had been over once or twice with Ghostbur, but he had been too scared to come back after almost getting caught by Dream.

He found his way in through an open window, proceeding to ransack the kitchen for any food he could find. He had almost forgotten what proper food was like. Tom had made his way through several pieces of golden apple pie and half a steak when he heard footsteps coming. He quickly looked for a place to hide, opting for the space underneath the sink. Just as he settled in to his hiding spot, Technoblade came in with Dream following close behind.

”Technoblade, L’Manberg is a problem and you know it! They tried to kill you, they exiled poor Tommy. He’s starving alone in the woods because of them.” Dream said, clearly trying to manipulate Techno.

Tommy practically growled from how angry that made him. How could that monster pretend to care about him.

”I know, I want it gone too Dream, but think of the people livin’ there. This isn’t like most empires Dream, they’re my family.”

“And they’ve turned against you, if we don’t act now they might even turn Phil against you! We need to burn that place to the ground before we lose our chance.”

Technoblade paused at that. Of course Dream had to drag Philza into this. He knew that out of everyone he could use to manipulate Techno, it was his best friend.

“Fine,” Techno began, “Go find Phil, we’ll attack at dawn.” Technoblade walked out the back door, heading off into the woods. Dream left not long after.

Tommy sat there for a moment, dozens of questions swirling in his head. Why is Dream here? Why is Techno working with him? What does Phil have to do with this. They’re going to attack L’Manberg?- they’re going to attack L’Manberg. The realization hit Tommy like a truck. The blonde scrambled out from under the sink and made his way outside, stealing one of Technoblade’s horses before galloping off in the direction of L’Manberg. Coming back now would mean a sentence in Pandora’s Vault but that didn’t matter right now. He had to warn them, he had to.

It was a normal morning in L’Manberg, the sun was just below the horizon, staining the dark sky with a faint orange to the east. President Tubbo stared out over the city from his bedroom window, watching as dark clouds loomed in the distance. It was going to storm later today. Ranboo slept soundly on the bed behind the president, a pillow carefully nestled in his arms so he wouldn’t realize their lover had gotten up. Tubbo had just turned away from the glass when he suddenly heard shouting in the distance. He turned back just in time to see a cremello horse rear up on its hind legs in the center of down, a familiar figure sitting atop its back.

Town square was crowded and full of people murmuring to one another when the president arrived. Quackity pushed people aside to clear a path for Tubbo so he could see what all the commotion is about. In the very center of town, struggling against the grips of two police officers, was Tommyinnit. Just off to the side, Ghostbur was trying to calm the stolen horse that had been spooked by the police. 

“TOM SIMONS INNIT!” Tubbo shouted over the commotion, anger clear in his tone. 

Everything stopped. Tommy looked up at his childhood friend like a deer in headlights. “Oh Tubbo! This is perfect! I need to talk to you, Dream, Techno, and Phil ar-“

“You have a lot of nerve coming back here Tommy. After what you did I ought to-“

“Well technically I didn’t do shit, Dream frame- actually that’s not important right now! Tubbo listen to me, we need to evacuate the city, Dream and Techno are about to-“

Tommy stopped mid sentence as the sound of an approaching aircraft filled the air. The crowd gathered in the center of town all turned to the north just in time to see a wall of withers, wolves, and other creatures too horrible to describe approaching from the ground and a single fighter plane approaching from the sky. Then the first bomb was dropped.

The commotion lasted no more than an hour. Houses burned; women and children cried out in terror and the men cried with them; grass was reduced to dirt, dirt reduced to stone, stone reduced to bedrock. When it was all over, half the capital was on fire and the other half was blown to kingdom come. 

Tommy frantically searched through the wreckage, calling out for Tubbo, for Quackity, for anyone. After minutes of wandering through smoldering rubble Tommy finally saw someone, breaking into a sprint to reach them.

“Ghostbur! Oh my god you’re ok I- … Ghostbur?”

It was quiet once more in L’Manberg, the only sounds being that of crackling fire and faint sobs. Ghostbur stood in the remains of Philza’s home, looking down at the worst sight he could possibly imagine. Friend, wool patchy and stained black with char, lying motionlessly on his side. He was dead. The ghost dropped to his knees and began to sob.

writing some Manberg/Las Nevadas era Tubbo hcs for @best-vice-evr/@las-nevadas-business because I'm bored

warning; discussions of various types of abuse, alcohol, trauma, subconscious victim blaming (very specific), unhealthy behaviors, and overall a not very healthy situation.

I'll add more if I missed anything, but I think that covers most of it.

1. He sits out in the hallways most nights, waiting for the noise to stop. It's more to confirm that Quackity ended up asleep and resting.

2. Tubbo has a habit of taking on more than he can handle, to try and lighten things for Quackity. It usually works, so he never really stopped.

3. on the nights that Tubbo can't sleep at all, which are a majority of them, he ends up trying to fix up the messes Schlatt leaves behind. It always ends before dawn though, not wanting to risk waking the older ram up.

4. Tubbo knows a lot of medical information to better suit what injuries Quackity has, to ensure that the avian is receiving the proper treatment.

5. The only gift Tubbo received from Schlatt in the Manberg era of things was a locket with a picture of Tommy in his L’Manburg uniform in it. He still wears it around most days.

6. on the nights Tubbo went to visit pogtopia, he would only leave if Quackity came with him. It was more of a safety thing.

7. In the Las Nevadas era of things, Tubbo genuinely believes his experience in the Manberg era wasn't scarring in comparison to what Quackity’s experiences were like.

8. Tubbo likes using the ‘:]’ and ‘:[’ and all its variants like Quackity, but he also uses the emoticons —(⁠◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍⁠)— like Schlatt.

9. Tubbo has more of Quackity's genetics and generally takes after Big Q, with the exception of a few things from Schlatt. (Like his Ram traits, and the way he acts when he's overly stressed out.)

10. Tubbo genuinely didn't know what a healthy, stable marriage was meant to look like until he met Ranboo. And as a bonus; he was terrible at hiding that he liked them. He was also awful at hiding that he liked Tommy.

11. Tubbo's a light sleeper, he always has been and always will be. It's just how he is.

12. Tubbo very frequently makes sure that Quackity is intaking a healthy portion of food every day, always setting aside a bit of his own meal to give to Quackity. It eventually ended up in him having disordered eating habits. (He'd do it all over again, because it meant that Quackity actually took care of himself. And that was all he wanted.)

13. Tubbo's known about Quackity's cannibalistic habits since a few nights before the funeral for Schlatt was held. To keep the peace, he never said anything about it — but he's known.

14. Tubbo regularly visits Schlatt's grave, bringing him dried out flowers and small trinkets. He hates what their life was like with Schlatt in Manburg, but a small part of Tubbo misses him. It hurts a bit more every time, but Glatt is making things better.

15. Tubbo is mostly sober, occasionally taking a few sips of something alcoholic. He’s almost always sober any other time though.

16. Tubbo's a bit of a collector, taking trinkets and anything he deems ‘pretty.’ Most trinkets are in his bedroom, but a few are in his workshop too.

17. Speaking of his workshop, Tubbo spends a lot of time in there — mostly because of his projects, but as mentioned in headcanon two, it's also a habit to try and take on more than he can handle.

18. The official cover of the song ‘fries’ from the show Adventure Time is the way Tubbo invisions his relationship with Schlatt. Something more soft and bittersweet, rather than the mistreatment and hurt it actually was.

19. THE ONLY HC I'M WRITING FOR POST–RANBOO’S DEATH: Tubbo planted an entire garden of pretty flowers (mostly alliums and white flowers) after the passing of his beloved partner, and takes Michael to visit the garden every night before bed.

20. Tubbo tended to stay away from Schlatt unless the older was entirely sober, mostly because he wanted Schlatt's attention and he wanted to be positive that it was REAL. Like, Tubbo understood that the loving attention wasn't ever as genuine as it was when Schlatt was entirely and fully sober.

21. Speaking of — Tubbo slowly started to become more and more comfortable around Glatt, until eventually they had a pretty wholesome relationship. Especially since Glatt has shown that he can, and will, act better than Schlatt ever could.

22. whenever Tubbo gets really silly, he acts like a little kid with a ton of stimming (usually flailing his hands, stamping his feet onto the floor like hooves, and doing silly little spins)

23. Tubbo has been taking care of others more than himself since the very first month Schlatt was drunk almost daily. He never really learned to put himself first — he still has a ton of issues with it.

24. Tubbo was in denial of being trans for awhile, not wanting to accept the fact that he was just a bit different. After a long talk with Quackity though, he calmed down, and started to accept it. (My silly boy :[..)

25. Anytime an adult is drunk, mostly Quackity, Wilbur, or Glatt, Tubbo tends to avoid them. Alcohol still makes him uncomfortable for the most part.

26. Tubbo feels most comfortable around Quackity, and always has for the majority of it. Although, he's definitely working his way to being more comfy around Glatt— and he's come to view Wilbur as an honorary parent. He still favours Quackity though.

27. As said in headcanon eleven, Tubbo is a very light sleeper. Anything, even the softest of noises, could wake him up, since he's so familiar with having to be ready for ANYTHING as soon as he wakes up. It's almost impossible for Tubbo to sleep soundly, unless he's asleep in Quackity's nest.

28. Tubbo is very emotionally stunted. He doesn't really take the time to feel his own emotions, but he tries to hold the space in his heart for the people he cares about. He holds as much space in his heart as he can for the people he cares about, but he doesn't really leave any space for himself.

29. Tubbo very frequently forgets to take care of himself, and when he does, it's never for as long as he subconsciously craves. As a bonus, he frequently forgets to take breaks when he's working — since he's never really had the chance to.

30. As said in headcanon eighteen, there are two songs I associate with Manburg hornsduo. The official cover of the song ‘fries’ from the show Adventure Time, but also Vampire Empire (the demo & the full version) by Big Thief.

ah I love the dsmp and some people (mainly cc's) are killing me.

I had to watch the cctommy video because idk ocd or i just felt like it would kill me if i didn't watch.

Tommy was usual tommy fashion, and the video was good! Don't get me wrong. I love that he didn't say it was cringe, and was nostalgic and positive about it. That he had good things to say.

I believe and want to believe in my heart that cctommy really cares about the dsmp and ctommy. Sometimes it feels like cc!eret , cc!quackity, cc!tommy are the only ones that really care. That care about the audience that they've created, that try to cultivate it. I want to believe that others care too but its these three that i feel are the most vocal about it.

But watching the new Tommy video, i feel slightly hurt. I know Tommy is just being Tommy fashion and being silly and "annoying", and maybe he's not being completely full hearted and serious because he wants to appease fans that do think it was cringe (which seems to be quite a bit, mostly twt).

But i just feel like, is it so hard to believe that people would care about the story you created? Especially one that is so unique and tackles such raw and real emotions and experiences. for my fellow ctommy fans, its family, home, abuse, suicidality, etc.

Maybe it's because it just doesn't feel real to the cc, that they made this popular series. Maybe it's because to a lot of them it really was just a game and goofing off. But to us fans, it was so much more. We poured ourselves into it. And it hurts to be treated like a joke and "cringe".

I feel grateful to cctommy for saying the positive things he did, but should I? Should i be appreciative that he treats us with bare minimum respect... like yes I know he cares, I think he does, but his joking attitude about it all makes me feel like a joke.

I did not like the constant sexual innuendos about c!tommy. was the foreplay one a little funny? yeah maybe. but describing the classic hurt c!tommy sigh/grunt/thing like a moan? no, i did not like that.

Maybe he's coping with humor. as other people pointed out cctommy was constantly sexualized on that server. And as he said he is an adult now that can joke about it anyway he likes because it is HIM.

I also did not like him describing ctommy as "a bad guy." ctommy had flaws, he was not perfect, that's one of the reasons he is so great, but he was not a bad guy. I could see c!tommy thinking he is the bad guy, but cctommy is the writer and should know better. I don't like being told that an abuse victim who is so very human, is "the bad guy". I might only partly forgive him for this because he talked about how c!tubbo (and cc!tubbo), was often an ignored victim and character that deserved to shine.

I did not like the "making fun of " suicide. Which is a major problem the dsmp writing has.

I am forever hurt by how the cc treat us. I devoted so much of my time and energy to this just to feel like a joke, just for them to act like they don't care. Well i choose to continue to care, because i really and truly do.

I've said it before but cc!ranboo was my main main, i watched every stream, even the non dsmp ones. But with how they treated c!ranboo, i just can barely bring myself to watch them. i did not get into generation loss, it hurts too much. I respect Ranboo for going with his passions and not doing things just to appease fans, but i am forever hurt that he had so little care in the end for something that so many of us cared about.

Most cc are just silent about their dsmp days and have no comment. But then others joke about how the fans cared? cc!puffy i was devoted and excited for your lore, and you failed to deliver it and now treat us like a joke.

And other cc where it just feels like they are trying to milk it for content, don't get me started.

And I'll be honest, I am still sick of all this dancing around the subject in the room that is the problematic cc. I get the cc don't owe us their views, and probably don't want to further drama. But Tommy can you just say you don't like or support Dream! Can any cc be open about it! Tommy stop giving me heart attacks by putting dt in your thumbnails 😭

And yeah this was really long and rant/venty, I feel like i forgot some stuff that i wanted to say so i will just add it later if it comes to mind.

But my point is, people cared about the dsmp. Some people moved on, and many of us are here and still thriving. People care, so stop being surprised that we do. Stop treating us like a joke.

If you're going to mention it cc, be respectful, kind, and maybe don't say anything if you don't really care about it.

Genloss Theory 11

This is a long one so buckle up.

So that whole thing with slime being blood is weird right? In Episode 1, slime is everywhere. It’s never explained what exactly it is, but everything is covered in it. Charlie is a “Slime Demon”. There’s a Slime Dimension. The food Ranboo “makes” ends up being “slime”.

(Side theory based on that last one, the slime Charlie eats is very different visually from the rest of the slime in the episode, and it’s obvious why from a meta standpoint: it’s supposed to be edible. But in universe this establishes that normal slime is not meant to be eaten. It’s not just poisonous or something, as we know Showfall could just revive Charlie if he died, so it must be just inedible in a different way. I’ll mention this later)

Then in Episode 2, we get the first major hint that slime is actually very different. When Charlie is being operated on, his insides are full of slime. But there’s one moment (in the Founder’s Cut it’s when the camera cuts to security footage in the ceiling corner) where it turns red and Charlie’s chill commentary turns into screams of agony.

We know that things like this were being shielded from Ranboo and the audience because Showfall didn’t want to show them the bloody truth, like how the contestants in the next room are weirdly chipper or calm about their circumstance when the camera turns to them.

And then in Episode 3, in the store where Ranboo and Charlie find weapons and supplies, there’s a bucket labeled “Slime” that is full of an ominous red substance.

So it seems that “slime” is actually just disguised blood right? Showfall messing with our minds as they do, case closed? But things don’t quite add up.

Firstly, why would there be so much blood just everywhere in Episode 1. Especially when they hammer it in that it’s slime. With the Slime Dimension and everything.

Apart from that, why would Showfall choose slime of all things to censor blood as? In Episode 3, a specific employee “bleeds” wires (which I theorized here was actually blood that Ranboo - and the audience - just didn’t see) so it’s not out of the ordinary for them to censor blood but why slime?

And why did they only choose to do so when focused on Charlie?

Well, this answer may be a bit meta, but I think it’s the same as the out-of-universe reason: it’s because Charlie is “Slimecicle”.

Charlie’s main YouTube channel is named “Slmccl”. His main iconic image is a slime. His merch includes slime plushies. Even when he participated in some of his more famous Minecraft series (Dream SMP and Origins SMP) he was a slime creature “disguised” as a human. So it’s pretty obvious why cc!Ranboo would make him a Slime Demon in the first Episode and then run with it from there.

That’s the meta reason. Why, in universe, would Showfall do that though?

Well, Slimecicle is a streamer in the Genloss universe too. It’s not perfectly clear how similar he is as a streamer in universe to real life, but he does have his slime plushies in the background and is clearly being an over the top caricature of himself.

I’m not sure if Showfall intended their viewers to recognize the streamers as themselves and how many of them were YouTubers in universe or how that would work, that’s a whole different can of worms, but it at the very least explains why Showfall would choose slime to be Charlie’s signature “thing”.

But then, why choose to have slime be blood at all? Wouldn’t it be easier to just have it always be “slime”? Well, easier? Yes. But, more interesting? No. And Showfall is more interested in a good show. They want the audience to pay attention. And how better to do so than drawing them in with confusing and potentially scary implications?

Well it's not just Tubbo, it's also Ozzi, but they're batshit fucking insane and if you can predict what they'll do you should get a diploma or some shit. We love them for it tho <3

Anyway BACK TO TUBBO.

Before we get to the why, let's make sure we all get the what.

Ranboo, the idiot /aff, assumes that Tubbo just. Does not know about the majority of his mental issues. And while he's not entirely wrong, he is still WRONG. Dude, that is the person who managed to 'read' you the fastest out of anyone. That is the person who actually looks at you because he cares. You're supposed to be good at knowing people, and yet. AND YET HE DOESN'T MAKE THE CONNECTION THAT TUBBO WOULD KNOW ANYTHING. But we know he does and Ranboo should know it too, because while reminiscing about the things that happened in Ad Astra he SPECIFICALLY POINTS OUT that it scared him how observant Tubbo was! And like?? Do you think he's gonna stop because you're friends now?

Now that we have the what. The why.

Obviously I don't know for sure, I didn't write the thing, but I HAVE THEORIES. And no, 'it's a plot hole' or 'suspension of disbelief' won't cut it, Matpat taught me better than that.

It's actually based on something my friend pointed out while reading, and that is the fact that Ranboo actually idealizes Tubbo. Because if you look at how Tubbo is described from his own POV versus from Ranboo's, you'll find that the difference is more than just being described by someone else. From Ranboo's POV, Tubbo can literally do no wrong. He is near perfect, even though we know he clearly fucking isn't. But to Ranboo he's basically the equivalent of Beatrice from the Divine Comedy (iykyk). But then what that leads to is Ranboo having this idealized version of Tubbo that he bases his assumptions on rather than the real one, similarly to the spectre, except he doesn't seem to be able to realize he's still wrong about the real Tubbo. And that's what trips him up, because for Ranboo, the ideal scenario is one where Tubbo doesn't find out anything. He literally says it in the goddamn book, he admits that he wasn't ever going to tell Tubbo anything, that he didn't want him to know. But the real Tubbo is one hell of a lot more observant.

And his idealized version gets absolutely fucking SHATTERED when Tubbo admits he knows something, when Tubbo lashes out or doesn't act the way Ranboo expects him to and Ranboo doesn't know how to handle that. Someone is sobbing.

He’s sitting up- no, he’s leaning against something. Something cold and impersonal. It hurts. Everything hurts.

“You’re finally awake. I didn’t think I hit you that hard.”

It’s Hetch. He’s crouched in front of him, blocking the view of whatever is behind him. The sobs haven’t stopped.

“Hetch?” He rasps. “I thought you were-“

“Dead? You really thought I was dead?” Hetch shakes his head in mock disappointment. “You should know better, Ranboo. You should know that things aren’t always what they seem. I should thank you, though.”

“For what?” His head hurts so bad… He was almost free. He was almost free and if he were free it meant that all of those people- that Charlie- hadn’t died for nothing. But they had.

And it was his fault.

Hetch leans back enough to show him a bit of the scene behind him, and Ranboo feels his stomach turn.

There’s wires, and they’re going through the flesh of someone’s palm. The person’s hand shakes so badly it causes the wires to shake with it.

“You gave me a hell of a show.” Hetch is saying, but Ranboo can’t turn his eyes away from the gore. “And I think it’s time for the finale. You’ll give the people what they want, yeah?”

He stands and steps to the side, giving him a full view of the scene in front of him. It’s Charlie- wires through the palm of each of his hands, forcing him to hold them out like some mockery of the crucifixion of Jesus fucking Christ. His feet barely touch the floor, forcing him to stand on his tiptoes to keep gravity from ripping his hands in two.

“Charlie!” Ranboo lunges forward, but Hetch pushes him back with his hand. Charlie looks up at him, tears in his eyes. The sobs- it had been Charlie, crying out in pain. The only friend Ranboo had left and he had failed him.

“Ranboo.” Charlie tries to smile, but it falls flat. “You okay?”

“Am I-?” Tears fill Ranboo’s eyes. Fuck. Fuck this. Fuck Showfall.

“You know, this was supposed to be you.” Hetch gestures to Charlie absentmindedly, almost as if he were an afterthought. “But he begged for it to be him instead. Got on his hands and knees and begged me to spare you. Said it would make for a better ending. And I’ve always been a sucker for a good endings.”

Charlie whimpers from his place on the stand. Ranboo wishes it were him instead.

Hetch steps forward, rapping his knuckles on something Ranboo hadn’t noticed before that is locked firmly around Charlie’s neck. “See this?”

It’s a metal box, covered in rust and what is unmistakably dried blood. The hinges are open to show the inside- rows upon rows of metal spikes. No.

“Please! Don’t do this! I’ll do anything!” Ranboo begs, “I won’t tell anyone! I won’t do anything! I won’t leave- I’ll play as many times as you want. He’s the only thing I have left. Please.”

He ends his sentence with a sob. Charlie is his friend- he may not have memories from before, but they had been friends then too, right? There’s no way he would connect with anyone so quickly otherwise. There’s a part of Ranboo that knows that if he had left Charlie behind, he would’ve been able to escape. But given another chance, he’d pick to save his friend again.

Charlie didn’t deserve this. None of them did. Surely they all had people waiting for them to come home? Were they looking for them?

Hetch clicks his tongue. “Not a chance. I’ve put too much time and effort into this finale and I won’t let it go to waste. I’ll give you a proposition.”

“Charlie is going to die here, no matter what. If it were you, I’d let the people vote, but since it’s not, I get to decide. What matters is how you handle it.”

“Please!” Ranboo stands, this time without a fight. “Please don’t do this! Why can’t it be me?! Why can’t we just let Charlie go? It’s a trade, right? Me for him.”

“You’ll watch him die. You’ll see the whole thing happen.” Hetch continues, ignoring his pleas. “And I’ll give you two choices: let me turn the mask back on. If I turn it on, you’ll forget it ever happened. No skin off your back.”

“Or, you don’t let me turn it back on, you’re going to see his death in its full glory. As a bonus, I’ll give you your memories back and I’ll let you go.”

Ranboo barely hears the words. He’s watching Charlie- his friend’s face is full of anguish and pain. His arms and hands become slick with blood as he loses the strength to stand on his toes, and the sound of tearing flesh and Charlie’s screams fill the room for a moment, before he once again quiets except for the occasional sob.

“Charlie… Let me go?” His head snaps towards Hetch. “You’ll give me back my memories? You’ll let me go?”

“Sure thing. What’s another death on your hands if it means you get to go free?” Hetch waves his hand dismissively. “Should be no big deal for you, hero.”

“You gotta get out.” Charlie’s voice is hoarse from screaming, “You gotta get out. Everything will be okay. I forgive you- I forgive you for everything.”

Ranboo looks at his friend- Charlie is smiling. He’s smiling like it’s just another day, but the illusion is ruined by the blood on his face.

“Thank you.” He continues, “Thank you for caring enough to try to save me. You’re the best fucking friend a guy could ask for.”

“Thank you.” Ranboo wants to hug Charlie, wants to give his friend just a moment of comfort, but he knows he can’t so he just holds out his hand. Charlie smiles wider.

“Ranboo?”

“Yeah.”

“Tell my girlfriend I love her. And that I’m sorry.”

SNAP!

The trap snaps shut. Charlie’s body jerks for a few horrifying moments before going limp.

There’s blood on his face. Charlie’s blood. Ranboo raises a shaky hand and wipes it away.

“You gave him back his memories.” He says, horrified. Hetch laughs.

“Of course I gave him back his memories! What’s an ending without a twist?!” Hetch steps away to avoid the growing puddle of blood. He’s laughing like he’s just heard to funniest joke.

Ranboo falls to his knees, unable to care about his friend’s blood soaking into the denim of his jeans. Charlie remembered everything… He remembered everything and was still okay with dying.

The corpse on display is still twitching. It’s legs have buckled, but the trap snapped shut around it’s head keeps it half standing.

He keens, collapsing onto his hands before getting sick. He vomits into his mask and it drips down onto his hands, but he doesn’t care. Charlie is dead.

Another death by his hands.

Ranboo whimpers. “Charlie… I’m so sorry.”

Hands grab him, pulling him up and away from the gruesome site. There’s a tug at the back of his head and the soiled mask falls around his neck.

He breathes for what feels like the first time in years. He’s free, but at what cost?

“You did well.” Hetch steps around to in front of him again. He’s holding a Showfall mask in his hands. “So well, in fact, that I think we should do it again.”

“You promised.” Ranboo tugs at the hands holding him in place, but they don’t budge. He’s so weak. “You said if I watched, you’d let me go. You’d give me my memories and let me go.”

Hetch shrugs. “I lied.”

Just before the mask slides over his face, he catches one more glimpse of Charlie’s broken body.

NOBODY who supports people like wilbur, illumina, george, sapnap, dream, punz, draggie and other 'influencers' who use their platforms for these horrific actions is welcome on my blog. i do not care if youre 'waiting for a response' - you have picked a side by doing that, whether you'd like to hear that or not, and it is not the victims. these 'men' are R4PISTS, ENABLERS, ABUSERS, RACISTS.

THIS ISNT DRAMA. the things these 'men' are saying theyve been revealed of doing - not accused, accused means 'claiming someone has done something wrong' - in this situation it is FACTUAL. the experiences these women have gone through do not deserve to be watered down to just 'internet drama' or 'twitter drama'. these 'men' have done ILLEGAL ACTS and deserve to rot behind bars for getting off on the manipulation, abuse and exploitation of these women, and i hope they get the justice they deserve for their actions.

a common thread between the majority of these cases is the theme of consent and alcohol. seems like the british attackers werent there for the tea video. the moment someone has alcohol in their bloodstream, they cannot consent. whether they have had one drink or 20, or if both parties are drunk, there is not consent. if there is not a clear, uncoerced, uninfulenced and solid 'yes' then there is not consent and it is assault/r4pe. this is not my opinion, this is THE LAW.

it is not your fault if you 'couldnt tell'. with wilbur, yes, he frequently used the 'tragic artist' role in his songs, but at the time it was said BY HIM to be a character, this is supported by his e-girl trilogy and the fact he said himself he was PLAYING an incel character. he is a manipulator, and the rest of the 'men' are liars too. they all sat behind screens showing a version of themselves best suited to gathering fame, and didnt feel bad about flipping completely when the streams or cameras turned off. HOWEVER, it is YOUR FAULT if you still support the 'men'. people saying 'he saved me' or 'he wouldnt do this' - MOTHERFUCKER HE JUST DID?? HELLO?? yes, it can be hard letting go of someone/something you loved, but it has to be done. i didnt want to get rid of a barbie when i was younger because playing with it made me happy, but i did anyways and guess what? i got over it. you do not know these 'men'. it's genloss ep 3 rewatch time! let's see if I cry this time

1. OH MY GOD I don't remember the last time I watched this episode and THE INTRO?? GOES SO HARD??? the glitches, the drone footage, the MUSIC??? ugh, perfection. literally took my breath away

2. hi gl!Ranboo, we are here, we want to help so badly (I feel so much despair at their ask for help)

3. I forgot how much the soundtrack in this ep adds to the ambience. it just feels so perfect for an abandoned mall where you don't know what to do, how to move forward

4. poor gl!Ranboo was just so scared. I think the only reason he trusts Hetch is because, well, what else can he do in this moment? he doesn't know where he is or presumably how he got there in the first place, so he clings to the first and only person to offer help, and that becomes his downfall

5. oh god, Hetch plants the idea that we, the audience, are not to be trusted. he says "they can't control you anymore." yes, it's true to some extent that we controlled him sometimes, but by saying "control" instead of "help" or some other, more positive connotating word, Hetch is making sure that Ranboo doesn't trust us, also making them trust Hetch more. it's an us vs them mindset. no wonder gl!Ranboo probably thought we killed him out of hate :(

the whole notion of who "deserves" success is so idiotic. like yeah, there is an element of luck, but they cant deny that dream has put the work in. before pursuing youtube seriously, he took months off Just to study the algorithm to see how it works. and sapnap and george too, im unsure how much work they put into the algorithm but they clearly care with sapnap talking about thumbnails. all three of them are amazing entertainers, people often discredit how much your character and personality plays into how successful you can be. i mean look at some of the people on the dsmp, not all of them blew up. they were given an opportunity on a silver platter and failed to make it work -> eryn and michael vs people who did blow up in a major way -> foolish and ranboo.

if someone has a sizeable fanbase, theyre clearly doing something right even if you dont personally find it engaging because no one can force their fanbase to stay if they no longer find the content appealing.

DSMP edition!

How much of fault was actually inspired by dsmp? Like sure, it's kind of an au but at this point it's just a whole another story with complicated characters that probably don't resemble their dsmp counterparts all that much.

What's your favourite dsmp character and why? Feel free to rant about their morals and the psychological implications of their story etc etc

Boom void madness begone, the fault crew + Ranboo (ik they're a minor character but I love that sucker you should make him more major) meets their dsmp counterparts how do they react. Specifically they are told what's going to happen and then teleported to an empty room for an hour. The same is done to the dsmp guys. The guys are taken from an unspecified time somewhere before Dream is broken out of prison but after Techno is broken out. So everyone are alive and somewhat mentally stable. Besides Wilbur, he gets teleported right before he leaves for Utah. And you can chuck Ghostbur there too if you wanna. If you do then they get teleported together. Also that's assuming that's the same universe where the fault crew have listened to the songs. Just cause I wanna see Fault!Tubbo turn out to be absolutely wrong.

I feel like the last question was loaded so this is a free pass. Talk about whatever you want to here.

Very little tbh. Fault occasionally nods in the direction of the DSMP at most. Things like Tommy's powers were inspired by him asking Techno to bail him out and causing nearly every war, plus Techno's voices and being insane in battle. Tubbos' hivemind thing was actually drawn from my first intro to Tubbo being him screaming about the Romans burning archives + Big Law bits, but those were more jokes that happened on the dsmp than lore stuff. Funnily enough the OG plan for Ranboo did not involve them in amnestics at all (which is based heavily in Ranboo's memory stuff) but then like two years later I had a eureka moment. Some dynamics were influenced by the dsmp, plus some of the themes that get explored like isolation, dehumanization, control, etc. Details crop up occasionally, like Wilbur getting white hair from the void or XXX, but for the most part the plot of Fault is generated from pure cause and effect. Resemblances to dsmp are some what superficial. I don't imagine anyone is in character so to speak.

Techno forever and always. I only got into the dsmp to get more Techno content. I'm desperately trying to remember the whole monologue I had written here. I just love how chill he was while everything around him was on fire, usually partially his fault. The dichotomy of him was fantastic, with this really kind and amicable guy also being the scourge of the server. I particularly like how earnest he was. Like, weirdly trusting despite how much betrayal happening, always taken by surprised when someone turned against him. Which is absolutely INSANE for a guy stockpiling weapons of mass destruction to not be horrifically paranoid. Plus how on a server full of corruption arc this madness spiral that Techno decided to step back of his own volition and do some introspection on his flaws. He had the monopoly on violence and still was like 'hmm maybe I can find better methods of moral persuasion'. Him forever and ever.

The Tommys bicker about something trivial and it escalates into a full blown war somehow, spawning instant chaos that drags everyone in orbit into it. This in fact how they bond. They end up unhealthily attached to one another to a concerning degree.

FPhilza is utterly disappointed in CPhil. For killing Wilbur, leaving Techno in prison, and all of exile arc. Yes CPhil has arguable culpability in those and FPhil has kinda done the last two. This is partially FPhil's own guilt, but also he justifies it to himself as CPhil had more of a choice to help and didn't. Also he thinks Doomsday didn't go far enough. CPhil would be rather irritated about it I think.

Techno and The Blade get along amazingly. Commiserating over imprisonment and dehumanization, boasting about battles, quipping back and forth. They compare notes on whose voices are better. I think Techno would try to ride The Blade into battle for the laughs.

Uh disclaimer I only watched half of the Utah stream bc it got copy rite claimed half way through and I just shrugged and gave up on the dsmp, plus hadn't ever watched Wilbur's stuff. So I'm guessing here. FWil first and foremost is aghast that CWil had a home and then BLEW IT UP. FWilbur finds Revivebur uncannily similar to the void: cunning, manipulative, with an agenda. It treats him accordingly, calculating with a purr in its voices, ready to lunge if it needs to. Revivebur is irritated he can't control FWilbur, plus it threatening him openly. FWilbur thinks Ghostbur is an idiot, but deep down is really scared that his own memory loss could get that bad. Potentially leads to it reevaluating the whole repressing trauma thing.

FTubbo is embarrassed for misreading the song so badly. I want them to compare handling getting disabled by Techno since I think both could get something out of it what with the butcher army, dehumanization, forgiveness, healing, etc. FTubbo is completely freaked out with the nuke thing.

Since I think FRanboo spent most of their life in the Foundation, they're enamored with CRanboo's life. I mean, he has freedom, a home, a family...

4. NIKI. AHHHHH. I'm trying to workshop her at the moment, have general motivations and character interactions and parts of her powerset. I'm really torn between two design choices that could have big ramifications rn. But anyway she'll have such a cool part at the very end for the 2nd epoch, and chunks of the third. Niki is a thaumiel like Tommy, and oohhhhh boy is she messed up about it. Exploring the vessel system, reminding of earlier plot threats, examining Foundation control tactics, foreshadowing for both a major villain AND The Blade & Tommy's character arcs, really digging into the magic system, new fun ways for trauma to manifest...god. Nikiiiii.

Im honestly really worried for ranboo. Most people that get this big on the internet either get desensitized to stuff and become a bit of an asshole (or a full asshole) or get destroyed because of how much they care. Ranboo seems to be heading towards the second category and I wish for them to be okay

I really have no idea where I see Ranboo going from here. There are plenty of big creators who do good (Jacksepticeye's Thankmas, MCC charity events) and to me, the Particles for Palestine event was like that. A big creator utilizing their platform to raise awareness and charity. I... genuinely I don't see how people are so upset with Ranboo over . what? Not doing more? Not coming out with in-depth, nuanced reactions to global events? When they probably knew as much as you or I did.

Yes he broke promises, he is not a guiltless victim; he kept playing TLOU2 even after told of its inspiration, he didn't do as much charity as he said he would, and it's good he's acknowledging that, but this visceral reaction to him runs deeper than that, it looks like? I feel like he should stop raising peoples' expectations and over-promising; he's one guy, he's young.

I know it's probably mostly in Twitter--in the Tumblr tags, the worst I saw was a couple people calling them spineless (sorry Ranboo, but good lird, he is a little bit spineless for not telling people to stop idolizing him). But I can't wrap my head around the logic behind people going after his ankles.

Now, I personally can't think of anyone fitting the "get destroyed" option you claim has happened, Anon. So I'll be honest I think it's a little bit overdramatic, but I agree with you in that I'm also worried for Ranboo.

I worry that a whole nonprofit will be too much for them. That is a whole organization, and even if they have others working with them, that is a lifelong commitment. This is something he cannot back out of (or he will be making another empty promise) or give to someone else to handle (he said he would be active in it).

Ranboo has Generation Loss/Chronicle 0, White Noise, The Sorry Boys (if that still exists. please it's been months,), his usual streams and YouTube videos, and his own personal life and self to tend to. Genuinely, I worry a whole entire nonprofit organization that intends to address very heavy topics will break the camel's back. I don't know what that will look like, but I doubt it'd be great for his mental health and anxiety (and I worry talking too much about that, lest I get parasocial, if I haven't already!).

(I'll be honest, I don't expect the organization to go anywhere past its first few months of existence; if it does, it will be without their major role in it, or they'd be stretched too thin. I feel bad for saying that.)

All due respect to him, of course, but he is a variety gamer on twitch dot teevee, and I do not understand why people demand more and more charity and apology from him when his job is to play video games and make people laugh.

I get why people want him to state his stances, to be assured he supports Palestine. To be vocal about a tragedy happening. I get why people expect a charity stream during pride month, or an eventual donation to somewhere to help during a disaster. What I do not understand is how this isn't enough for some people.

some more questions :) - when does punz realize that something is going on? is it like, right after dream breaks out and they don't meet up, or a little later? - how canon divergent is this au? like techno's personality is different, but does ranboo die in the prison escape? (wait no techno isn't as close to ranboo in this au?) - does techno make dream wear/do anything? or does he just kinda keep dream in the trophy room always - how exactly does techno teach dream to "listen to everything he says"?

Pls don't be sorry! I'm having fun answering :D it's still kind of a wild concept to me that other ppl like my silly thoughts but I'm more than happy to indulge :))

Punz would realize something is up pretty much instantly. He and Dream agreed to meet right after the prison break in that snowy area, so when Dream doesn't show up, they're concerned. Then, he doesn't show up the next day, or the day after that, or the day after that, and then Punz is REALLY concerned. He saw Dream at the break-out and that is not a man who's equipped to handle himself in the Arctic wilderness alone for several days. They only waited so long because, well, they really didn't know what else to do. Dream specifically told him to meet there at that time, and following Dream's direction is what they do best. He'd have to keep up the appearance of looking for Dream anyway so as to not rouse suspicion. They'd pay Techno a visit, after Sam and Quackity had already been there, so Dream obviously isn't there but they can smell that something's off. (pushing the wolf hybrid!Punz agenda) Techno gives nothing away, but Punz knows Dream, and they know his scent (especially when it's all over the cabin and all over Techno and it's driving them crazy), and they know he wouldn't not follow through with a plan unless something uncontrollable got in the way. So, they do what a mercenary does best and starts tracking Techno.

The au itself isn't too divergent when it comes to major events, so all the canon stuff happens up until the obvious point after prison break. Ranboo would still die, but Techno wouldn't be as broken up about it. One less Syndicate member is unfortunate, though.

Dream is very rarely let outside. (only a few times has Dream's begging swayed him and he was allowed to roam the forest outside, with the caveat of staying on a 'leash' Techno made from enchanted rope to ensure he stays close) Techno much prefers to keep him in the trophy room, well-groomed and quiet. Something pretty to look at. The scars from all the torture aren't his favorite (least of all the hideous smile carved into his back), but he also thinks they're beautiful in their own way. If he had to say, his favorite would be when Dream wears nothing at all ;)

Techno found that Dream was alarmingly easy to control with some minor indulgence. He's positively starved for affection and comfort, not to mention in this au Dream did always have a crush on Techno which really showed during their shared time in the prison. He listens to everything Techno says for two main reasons: the prison had already done much of the hard work of removing any of Dream's autonomy or ability to think for himself and as long as Techno is able to spin the story that this is for Dream's safety, he's happy :)
