So I just played the entire Majima introduction scene in Kiwami 2 and suffice to say I'm having some t h o t s. After having to sit through that awkward af scene where Kaoru undresses in front of Kiryu and then has a heart-to-heart with him about wanting to find out about her past (like seriously? if y'all wanted show them bonding just do THAT?? Do they need to sexualise that encounter like fucking look at the way the camera positions on Kaoru's breasts while she's genuinely talking about wanting to find out the truth. men at sega are truly limp dicked bastards istg) it was such a breath of fresh air to FINALLY go and see Majima.

Like at the Tojo HQ I almost screamed when Kiryu found the demonfire knife in Terada's backroom and was all like "I'd recognise that dagger anywhere..." like we know baby. You've got scars on your body the shape of the dagger's edge, of course you'd recognise it! And then the conviction with which he says that Majima is the only one who can save the clan from falling apart when Yayoi and Kashiwagi are both apprehensive about it is just...*chef's kiss*.

The actual meeting scene takes the cake of course. Kiryu brings that damn dagger with him to Purgatory and tosses it to the ground like some sort of a mating call to Majima, like he knows that's the only way he'll actually respond. And then what follows is just Sayama being obviously third-wheeled the entire time these gay bitches are in proximity to each other. Like I'm pretty sure the use of the very possessive sounding "my Kiryu-chan" definitely raised her eyebrows. (Not to mention, his dialogue with Sayama comes off more or less catty. The nicknames he calls her feel patronizing, like he dismisses her being anything more than another arm candy. Of course that is until the "I'm a cop" reveal lmao, that sobers him up pretty fucking fast).

And of course then Kiryu is more or less begging Majima to come back to the Tojo, bowing his head low in reverence and desperation and a bit of selfishness too because he KNOWS Majima won't be able to say no. Not to him, HIS Kiryu-chan. And Majima surely just reinforces that fact by saying "Ya know I can't bear seeing ya like this..." They're both pretty fucking aware of the fact that Majima has a big ol' soft spot for Kiryu (and now, thanks to all of this shit happening right in front of her salad, Sayama does too).

But the real highlight of the scene comes after, during Kiryu's entry into the coliseum where Majima is just so shamelessly checking him out through the cage it's not even subtle. But we all know that already.

What we don't know is the fact that its Kiryu who looks at him first and he just keeps looking at Majima's direction after winning against Di Sciuva:

Kiryu knows Majima's eyes have constantly been on him throughout the tournament. And so it's not even entirely subtle that he's making sure Majima's having a good time because all of this is basically a show Kiryu's putting on for his eyes, hoping it'd be impressive enough to convince him to come back to Tojo clan. But I'm willing to bet anything that some part of Kiryu thoroughly enjoyed that shit too.

Everyone and their mother knows what comes next, gay sex in a caged fight, but still I will never get tired of going absolutely bonkers over Majima's entry scene. Everything about it is just so powerful and sensual and just so fucking cool.

It SCREAMS reciprocation. Majima is basically like 'Kiryu-chan gave me such a spectacular show it'd be such a shame not to return the favour' and then he just presents himself like THAT to Kiryu, in all his glory and asks him all smugly whether he likes the fucking view. That was so cunty of him UGH.

and Kiryu is just so fucking amused and he VERY MUCH VISIBLY likes what he's seeing. his body language, the way his voice drips with something dangerously close to fondness, that damn li'l smile like Kazuma Kiryu you're so fucking gay for this man it's embarrassing~

Their post-fight scene has a different fanbase altogether, because goddamnit Kiryu do be looking at Majima like he wants to wreak him all ways to Sunday.

This is one of the few times through the 3 Yakuza games I've played that I've genuinely found Kiryu to be smokin' hot. Like I don't think he's EVER smirked like that at anyone, much less a female love interest. There's just so much going on on his face (bless the dragon engine graphics) and good GOD every bit of it is downright filthy.

He fucked that man, hard (or got dicked down within an inch of his life). PERIODT.

Sjsjdjdjrowjehejkeje I don't think we talk enough about Majima here. The way he looks down then slowly back up to Kiryu while a little smile plays on his lips, the way he lowers his voice to that sultry af tone and he invites Kiryu for a drink, almost as if it's an inside thing for them both, as if it's code for "hey, wanna fuck nasty on my desk?" And Kiryu, for once in his life, picks right up on that, and then fucking smirks like THAT because of course he wants to fuck, what kind of a question is that?

Like there's just no other feasible way to explain this interaction. Y'all know if this exact scene was between Kiryu and Sayama, they'd have been all over each other in the next scene.

But because it's SEGA's two leading men, they settled for the most obvious insinuation possible that it just makes it way more horny than if they'd just straight away fucked. I said what I said.

It’s possible Majima’s VA saying he wasn’t given the script yet is just a way to not giveaway he’ll be in 8. One of the devs shared a drawing when announcing they’ll be revealing LAD8 info and it contained Saeko, Nanba, Majima, and Kiryu. Make of that what you will 🤷‍♂️

i think the best way to get someone into what you're into is to have on specific guy you are obsessed with. do not stop talking about them. multiple times i have mentioned the little guy i'm obsessed with and within minutes have them buying to game. maybe my autistic rizz is just that strong, but truly i think it's all very simple. have a little guy? just be balls to the walls insane about them so that you can't even give anything coherent when someone asks about them and they just HAVE to get into the source material to find out and understand fully

I've been thinking, about how you would make sea creature kazumaji... do you already have headcannons for that or is it something more new?

a lil mix of both 🤔 I originally drew eeljima for MerMay and was gonna leave it at that but I got really attached to the idea of kiryu and his dumb fish boyfriend so I rolled with it kdlsjfddsf. I got a few ideas tho 👀

majima's an eel - nothing specific but I leaned to electric since the rpg games give him electricity as an element. also, knifefish (what a coincidentally convenient name 👀) have spots that remind me of his snake's spots so that fit well with his overall theme plus they're related to eels so even better >:D saejima's also a fishdude, a grouper specifically because they're huge and chonky but also gentle uwu

kiryu's a silly lil fisherman guy, one of them commercial types that goes out on a boat to get big hauls. nishiki's there too being the saddest wettest little beast. other characters make up part of the crew in similar ways the canon families are set up. so like kazama and kashiwagi for example are captains of the crew

I have thought about if they were fish too if I wanted to do a branching AU of this and kiryu could maybe be a thresher shark - because they got that big slappy tail but also their huge beautiful eyes™. OR a betta fish because I think the colors would really compliment his heat colors. nishiki can be a koi because of course

kiryu and nishiki live in a lil shack on the shore. nishiki hates it but kiryu likes the simplicity and being close to work. nishiki would move closer to the city but frankly all the haircare product he buys is so obscene that he can't afford a place on his own ✌

majima and saejima (+ yasuko) live in some nearby kelp forests/coral reefs. merfolk tend to stay away from humans and live further out in the ocean, deeper underwater but these three take advantage of all commercial fishing going on to get some easy food. but being so close to fishing trawlers, this leads to majima getting caught in a discarded net, being trapped and beached where kiryu finds him 👀

merfolk can breath air and go on land but it is as awkward as you can imagine. when majima hangs out with kiryu, kiryu drags him up the beach to enough dry land where the tide isn't a problem. merfolk do have to be moisturized often so majima's either doused with a bucket of water or gets a big ass lathering of lotion. whether or not that'd actually be realistic doesn't matter to me I just think it'd be funny for nishiki to be very suspect of the comical amount of lotion kiryu suddenly starts buying

majima's fav thing to do with kiryu is have him fry up some fish since he's never had cooked food before and thinks it's the bee's knees. kiryu will often go into town to buy all sorts of things for majima to try or majima will catch some wack fish from who knows where for kiryu to fry up. they pick secluded beaches as not to be disturbed but kiryu is ready to fling majima into the ocean at a moment's notice just in case

majima has a second set of jaws normally not visible unless he's snacking on a fish. sometimes he pops em out for a smooch and kiryu is wary but willing to try anything 😤 nishiki is often very worried about the numerous weird bite marks kiryu comes home with but kiryu chalks it up to clumsily falling face first into some coral. you can tell by now I'm very into the trope of person dating a cretur is very bad at keeping it a secret dsklgjk

majima tends to have electrical flare ups when he's feeling emotional so kiryu ends up getting zapped a lot. it's not enough to be dangerous but kiryu has since avoided touching light switches and makes nishiki use them first

rarely kiryu will take majima out on the town in a wheelbarrow covered in a blanket and everyone's like *squint* but eventually gets used to his funny lil friend who seems fascinated by literally everything

there's defo some tigerfish action at a later point once nishiki eventually decides to follow kiryu to one of his little secret beachside escapades to not only find out kiryu's being a weirdo as usual but now with a weirdo fishguy. on the other side, saejima is eventually convinced that there is not a bunch of people on the shore waiting with harpoons and nets and joins majima for one of kiryu's fish fries and finds out hey maybe humans ain't so bad if they can put up with majima for more than five minutes

i think a lot about the unstoppable march of time being a big theme in yakuza kiryu comes back ten years later to a world full of people thats completely moved on from him his brother hates him his love interest i just burny my hand on my cup oh my god. anyway yeah basically time marches on and fate does its thing ow ow ow. this is definitely amplified retroactively by yakuza 0 giving you this story about a guy whos gonna be a real yakuza star and his bond with his brother and sticking to their ideals and then cut to y1 kiryu has no standing nowhere to sleep basically nothing of his old life. but yeah i think the main thing is that this is a guy who is almost 40 years old who spent a decade of his life in prison and gave his life to an organisation and got nothing from it. and majima is also old old old and has nobody because his only family is a sworn brother whos waiting to get out of prison. hes 41 and he is not married and has no children and is giving his life to this organisation and he has been doing this for 17 years. really majima is a perfect yakuza he is a dangerous thug at the top of the ladder who does whatever the fuck he wants whenever he wants and even then all being a yakuza has ever done is chew him up and spit him out. kiryu is an exile who threw his name and criminal career and greatness down the shitter. his ideals and the path he follows make him a disgrace to their organisation and their ultraviolence lifestyle and make him a disgrace to majima who was gutted out in his pursuit of it and must constantly perpetuate it to have any kind of agency. okay what was i saying. these are not teenagers fooling around these are old men with empty existences at a collision point. who are fooling around

my boyfriend introduced me to the yakuza series a month ago by forcing me to watch him play through y0.

i am now inconsolable and determinedly playing through kiwami 1, even though I'm horrible at playing video games and have the hand-eye coordination of a newborn.

majima is now one of my sons, and I am determined to see this series through so I can make sure he gets plenty of hugs and love and everything else. (I am also, against my will, an unabashedly shameless kazumaji shipper, and I just... i don't know what to do with that.)

this series single-handedly brought me back to fandom with all the grace of a fist to the face, and I'm just so, so happy to have found my new happy place in the form of old, emotionally constipated men who clearly need each other in ways they can't even hope to conceptualize.

anyway, idk. this post is nothing, but I felt like writing for some reason... so... i wrote this... and then I started writing snippets of a fanfic that'll likely never see the time of day

but, y'know what? it... this feels good. it feels correct. i feel like I was in hibernation for centuries, but my pretty bf decided it was high time for me to wake up from this dumb slumber I found myself in.

i've missed fandom; i've missed people; i've missed community. and even though it doesn't seem like the kazumaji fandom is super, super active, i'm just happy to have found people who feel super, super warm :')

HOLY NARRATIVE PARALLELS BATMAN!

Spoilers for both Yakuza 0 and Infinite Wealth.

So at the end of Chapter 16 of Yakuza 0, "Proof of Love," Makoto gets shot in her attempt to avenge her brother's murder (must say it was gutsy of her to face the Tojo like that! I Love her.) Majima accompanies her to the ER on Sera's orders, where he's then shut out.

In grief and despair Majima says, "Don't die. Please don't die! I'll do anythin'. Revenge, you name it. Whatever you want. So please...PLEASE!"

He's there for hours, growing more frustrated. Around 7 (AM?) he gets an update on her status, and he speaks with the doctor and Sera who says he will be taking Makoto away to safety. When Sera offers Majima to accompany them in helping Makoto, Majima turns them down.

Majima says, "Sit around and wait for her to wake up? I can't help her here. Sera, Makoto's yours. Me...I've got somethin' I gotta do in her place." He also tells the doctor to look after Makoto before heading out.

As much as Majima loves and cares about Makoto, he's not the sitting around type. He says as much earlier in the game.

If there is work to be done, especially if it involves helping a loved one, then he will opt for that over remaining by his loved one's side and doing nothing.

Makoto is in the hands of people he trusts (Sera and the doctor.) Majima feels by being spurred into action, it's his way of honoring a loved one and showing his love for another. Hey, action speak louder than words!

That certainly puts into perspective why Majima kept pushing Kiryu to become stronger in Kiwami. Because he loves him.

But speaking of Kiryu... All of the above with Makoto is reflected again in Infinite Wealth. But things happen a little bit differently.

In Y0, Majima had no other choice but to accompany Makoto. The fight took place in Roppongi, and now that everything was settled, Majima had no reason to remain in the city. Also, it is Sera who orders Majima to go with Makoto.

But in Infinite Wealth, Majima had a choice but also a reason to stay behind. Majima already knows what it is that Kiryu wants. The whole reason for Kiryu's visit back in Chapter 12 (about a week ago in-universe) was to request Majima, Saejima, and Daigo to help Sawashiro.

Which is why Majima doesn't board the helicopter. Kiryu needs him at the Millenium Tower to finish the ordeal with Ebina and Sawashiro. It's not just a favor anymore. At this point Majima could consider this Kiryu's dying wish. "Stayin' n' helpin' is what Kiryu would've wanted," he might say.

Was Majima worried for Kiryu? Yes. But going to the hospital would have only resulted in the same scenario as '88. Growing frustrated as time dragged on while doing nothing/feeling useless, when the place Kiryu needs him to be was right there. Majima is more pragmatic than that.

Majima has learned from '88. As much as he is losing his mind over Kiryu possibly dying, it's futile for him to accompany him to the hospital. It's not practical for him as seen in '88. A better use of his time is doing what needs to be done, and in '24 it's at the Tower.

So as much as I am sure it was ripping Majima's heart to shreds since Kiryu might die, just like Makoto all those years ago, Majima put Kiryu in the safe hands of the paramedic crew and the young party who also care about their hero and leader (Note Nanba praying 🥺)

Majima, meanwhile, just like back in '88, has a job to do, a promise to fulfill for his loved one. Instead of traveling all the way to the hospital on another's order, as much as he's worried sick for his loved one, he'd rather do something about it. Occupy his mind and hands.

And the place Kiryu needs Majima to be right now just so happens to be right under his feet.

This was a nice subtle way to show how the times and situation have changed, and yet Majima's character and values remain firmly the same. Majima has and will behave like so in such situations. What he did for Makoto he does for Kiryu, because he loves them both very deeply ❤️

And I'm sure once the whole Sawashiro business is taken care of, they will reunite. After all, someone's been regularly visiting Kiryu at the hospital. There's a chair right beside his bed, and that can only mean he's had a constant visitor. In my headcanon it's Majima 😊

(NOTE: this is not meant to convince anyone of anything or whatnot. I just love the games deeply and am constantly replaying them for fun and fic note-taking, so I'm always finding neat new connections like this as a result. 💕)
