I see companies have learned nothing from photobucket, imageshack, majhost and many others who walked this same path destroying decades of internet content out of ether puritanical bullshite or trying to grift by pushing predatory monetization practices to nickle and dime users.
I will give you a hint all these image hosts are ether dead now or completely irreverent.

ATTENTION ALL HOMESTUCKS
for the past ~2 years, i've been attempting to create an archive of every single homestuck base i could find, at first for personal usage, but eventually for the sake of simply archiving them. sprite bases, hero mode templates, furniture/item customs and rips, talksprite bases, even tutorials, i've been trying to find anything i can.
however, because of the fact that a lot of these images were hosted on now defunct image hosting sites like majhost and were never archived on the wayback machine, i'm unable to reach them through the various pile of dead links i have.
so this is an all call for all members of the homestuck fandom, especially those who've been here for a while.
i'm attempting to create a legitimate archive of these bases, with sources wherever possible. so if you have anything that fits that sort of description, or even seems like it would fit, please send it my way in my DMs.
i'll begin hosting my archive on neocities once i've collected and sorted everything.
again, if you have ANYTHING you think would be useful, PLEASE SEND IT!!!
if you can and if you feel like it, reblog so other people can see this! no pressure, but it would definitely help 8)
thanks in advance,
CGAT

Welcome to the archive. A.K.A. "Leko's Library."
It occurred to me that with the deaths of MAJHost and DeviantART, a sizeable amount of my older artwork has effectively vanished from the internet and become completely inaccessible.
In particular, a LOT of Comic Shorts comics are just gone. You can't even find them on the website anymore because most of them were hosted on MAJ. (Along with a good chunk of the site's UI images, apparently.)
I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while, actually, but recent events have...motivated me to start existing even harder on the good old internet, and this seemed like a quick and fun way to get on that!
Basically I'm just gonna post old stuff and add a little commentary.
These will in NO WAY be presented in chronological order, but I will TRY to post at least approximate dates when I can find them or reasonably guess. SOME files on my PC seem to have accurate dates in the properties, but most of them think they were created the last time I restored them from backups. But the "modified" date appears to remain correct.
So I'll have a comic for instance that says it was created in 2023, but was last modified in 2011.
So yeah. Most of this stuff was on DeviantART, but I'll probably post some even OLDER stuff that never even made it on there!
I'm still setting up the blog here, so expect things to change. I kinda like this old "sci fi computer terminal" theme I slapped on it, but I might look for something a little less eye-strainy.

uhhhhh
so if anyone here is as old as dirt as i am you might recall a site entitled majhost which had like... a bonch of homestuck talksprites + shit on it before it bit the dust
most of the talksprites can still be found on the spriters resource. well, the ones that were actually used in the games, that is. majhost also had a collection of unused sprites in their resources.
good news is like uhhh 2013-2014ish i obsessively downloaded all of the homestuck sprites and stuff for basically no good reason and while i tweaked with the talksprites so that the spacing between was more even + often combining small sprite sheets all of the sprites from majhost, used in-comic or otherwise, are on them with maybe one or two cropping mishaps and probably many more color fuckups!
they’ve been hiding on my imgur for the last few years so uhhh here
beta trolls alpha trolls kiddos misc
#pesterlogs#on a related note im fixing up all of the gifs o the talksprites on the wiki for coloring errors that came with gif compression#and also any missing sprites#(but only those that actually appeared)#(sorry double bird flippin' eridan ur stuck in the imgur zone)

Is there a base for every single pose in homestuck that you have?
back in 2012 when majhost was a thing, there was a gallery of every character sprite used in homestuck. unfortunately, that isn’t around any more, but you can still google “homestuck sprite (character name) and find anything you need.

the fucking omegpause happened, the majhost thing happened, and then the MSPA forums just got the plug pulled over night.
And just like that we, and so much of the work we’d done, were scattered to the wind.

The LEGO fan community is so dependent on pictures: Brickshelf is still there... but it’s the sibling of majhost, which is gone. Flickr has already probably lost content when it capped free accounts. Social media makes it easy to show pictures, but there’s no archiving of them.
Some of this is just the passage of time: sic transit gloria mundi. But it is a bit disconcerting, and if you see things that mean something to you, you should save them. Curate your own personal library or understand that they may not be there when you want to see them again.
Have backups! A thumb-drive AND a Google drive AND OneDrive (or whatever--my point isn’t a specific product, it’s redundancies). I lost just enough really fun documents in 2017 when my computer crashed because I never saved THOSE files to my thumbdrive. I have MSN chat-logs from my first desktop... but never saved them from my second. There was a text-based RPG that I wrote in for nearly two years: it petered out, never got an “ending,” and was, well, written by 17-year-olds, but it’s still one of the top ten most important fictions to me. You’d better believe I have it saved. But the ephemera: forum discussion posts and such? They still exist now... I cannot reasonably expect they will still exist in twenty years. And they could be gone tomorrow.
The retention period for financial documents: legally required paper! can range: I’ve seen between 2 and 7 years at my job. You have to overcome inertia to actually destroy them, though, so paper is relatively durable compared to the Internet: there’s no inertia here. Things vanish a the click of a button, if something gets hacked, as collateral damage in a server upgrade, if someone fails to pay a bill.
Just found out mocpages has been gone for 2 years. I spent so much time as a kid looking at peoples mocs on that website and reading their backstories. I even uploaded a few of my own.
Between this and old bzpower sprite comics its deeply upsetting to think of the sheer scale of how much of the bionicle fandoms creations and legacy has been completely lost and erased like it never happened.
Like in mocpages I remember a few big rp groups who ended up making massive spin offs and continuiations of bionicle with their own stories and characters.
I always found the huge stories they made together fascinating. Heartbreaking to think how little remains of what was once such a massive amount of photos and characters and stories.
Far too much has vanished without warning.

Kuno the Tank Engine: Generation 2
Hello guys. I haven’t been using Tumblr very often because one day when I was browsing through the search section, my computer for some reason shut off. I don’t know what happened, but hopefully I can still continue to use Tumblr.
Anyway, at the start of the month, I decided to make a new generation of a video series on YouTube from 2007. The series was called “Kuno the Tank Engine”. The idea behind this series was that it was a slideshow of Thomas fans, and originally trolls, as Thomas the Tank Engine characters. The series was made by a YouTube user called Felix Cheng, who was well known from his Thomas & Friends New Engine Slideshow videos. Sadly in 2010, the series was canceled. But, I did make revisions of the original videos using the original pictures uploaded to Majhost with Felix Cheng’s permission.
This new series I’ve made is called “Kuno the Tank Engine: Generation 2″. It’s made using new images found on the internet for existing characters. The names of most users are still intact, but I did have to censor some names either so it would be family friendly, or due to some troll users reforming prior to them being added to the series. Anyway, here is a playlist of all the G2 KTTE episodes so far. I’ve only gotten seven episodes up, and an eighth one is in the works.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDNYT27FdGhEzP00iu-GXRVRNmCdI83qW
A friend of mine has also linked each episode onto his Tumblr wall, so that was nice of him. If you would like to be in the series, do let me know and I’ll be sure to add you. But do understand if I have to tell you that the character you want to be is already taken. I’ve come across a number of characters were a user asks to be a character that’s already been used, and you know what? Felix Cheng had that issue, too.
I also decided to use “Wayback Machine” to go back to some YouTube user pages from 2007 to see if anybody back then had a troll list, and I found out that ten YouTube trolls were added to a list, but never added to the original KTTE. I’m not going to list them all now, but there are some even Felix Cheng had on his list that he never added to his series.

The loss of all the old bionicle sprite comics wounds my soul, like I remember being obsessed with one called mask of humour or something that was basically my only frame of reference for any events before the MoL movie for so long. And the big name ones, and the ones made by random people just doing whatever shamelessly, no concept of cringe. Self inserts abound. It was such a different time on the Internet and I wish I could look back at all those odd comics
100% agree, losing majhost has absolutely killed a section of my childhood that I'll never get back. It's heartbreaking. Thankfully brickshelf is still there... but most of my stuff was on majhost :(
