Okay so funny idea-

Rivalry is the only way to court a Hatake.

Being rivals with a Hatake means you are courting them.

Just thinking about Maito Gai and how he could break rocks and the ground with a kick when he was less than ten years old. Who became genin at seven and chuunin at 11, in the middle of the war.

To whom all the inhabitants of Konoha were cruel, to him and his father. How in truth he was never a naturally optimistic person, but rather he was always more realistic and perceptive than he let on.

The one who learned to always smile and pursue what is difficult for him, even if it hurts, terrifies him or even if he is dead tired.

The one who loved his father, but still doubted his teachings. The one who saw his father sacrifice himself to save him, and whose sacrifice became a state secret, being for the rest someone who motivates ridicule and shame.

The one who honored his father by developing and perfecting the technique that took him away, the forbidden technique that made you have to tear your muscles, break your bones, the one that destroys your body and repays you with a few moments of pure power before leaving you out from your mind due to pain and fatigue.

The one who achieved a title by himself solely through training and effort.

The one who, despite having close friends and recognition, did not forget or sit idly by while his eternal rival sank into depression. The one who always tried to be there for Kakashi, who saw past his friend's coldness to see only Kakashi. The one who insisted and insisted and insisted so that Kakashi would not be left alone in the dark.

Sometimes i think about how kakashi went from saying "im leaving/im home" to an empty house as a kid to a house full of people and i become violently ill. So these are vignette's of Kakashi's family as time goes by

I love the hair cutting scene between Gai and Dai. The care Dai had when cutting his son's hair. The absolute ease and trust Gai felt. The checking in and talking with one another as he trimmed his hair into the perfect bowl cut.

I like to imagine Gai used to cut his own hair alone ever since his father's passing. It saved money and also, when he went to a hair dresser, they probably encouraged something new. With layers and volume that although he would probably look absolutely stunning in, is not something he could recognize himself in due to his facial blindness, and was something different from the beloved cut his papa gave him. The bowl cut helps him remember his dad...

But years lager, when he took Lee on as his apprentice, the boy probably asked him to cut his hair and then it was him, listening to Lee's stories and giving him advice on how to handle his problems!

It comes full circle...

Finally after Gai gets injured in the war, it's Kakashi who cuts his hair from here on. He lovingly listens to Gai prattle on as he gently cuts the hair. Maybe one day there was even a hair cutting line where Kakashi cut Gai's hair, Gai cut Lee's and Lee cut little Metal's as they all caught up with one another.
