day 24: waiting in line
drawing some random moments from the story and trying to explain what's going on my beloved
here's yet another floating workshop worker - Maiolica, "the best dress cutter in the four seas" (according to her; who'd want to verify it?), who, after some not very good events, ended up in Totto Land. we all know the price of living there; Maio, on the contrary, didn't, so now she's shuddering to think how does it feel to lost a part of your soul, and after that will spend so much time thinking about her past mistakes and reconsidering her opinions on many things...
i spent like half a minute designing the background characters and i spent just a little bit more time drawing them lol

maiolica cloister of Santa Chiara, Naples by d0gwalker
Via Flickr:
Brightly coloured maiolica tiles cover the benches and columns which lie along the pathways within the patio at the heart of the cloister of Santa Chiara, Naples. This decorative scheme was created in 1740 by Antonio Vaccaro for Queen Maria Amalia di Sassonia, wife of Carlo III di Borbone.

there are some sketches for the pottery - i mixed russian and english elements of ceramics called maiolica. i made a project about saving english maiolica style and there was a conception about mixing it with popular russian motifs.

Tile Art is an informative volume that traces the rich tradition of these sumptuous tiles and fully illustrates their varied designs. The author deals lucidly and extensively with various manufacturing and decorating processes, as well as with the most significant designers and potteries in Britain, on the Continent and in the United States. Dutch Delfware tiles are described in detail, as are Portuguese azulejos, Italian maiolica panels, Scandinavian stove surrounds, British and American Arts and Crafts exemples and French and Ductch Art Nouveau creations. The contributions of artists and designers such as William Morris, Walter Crane, Vanessa Bell and Louis Comfort Tiffany are noted, and the technical advances pioneered by such companies as Mintons, Pilkingtons, Low and Maw are described in relation to the increasing sophistication in tile design during the 19th century.

i can't tell if scottish or italian kallamar is scarier
It's time to settle this once and for all.
Tumblr media
My Kallamar is definitely Italian. He would live in Venice, the most opulent, beautiful, dramatic, decadent city ever, built entirely on water. It is also famous for its architecture, art, masqued balls and pretty glass, and it is expensive and exclusive. All things that I believe Kall would absolutely love. He would be enjoying his Select Sprizt watching the sunset over the laguna wearing the most expensive clothes. In this pic, he is wearing a Dolce&Gabbana suit featuring the iconic Maiolica print from the brand. Not to mention Casanova was Venetian... I mean it writes itself guys! @kiko---random-stuff-probably does this match your vision as well?
