Ok so! I'm the person who said much sadness for not being able to send you rare words from rare languages anymore.

And it's extra painful as a fellow linguistics student.

(part of me is thinking right now that a tournament of unknown words or words from small languages would be pretty neat, but anyway i don't have time for organising stuff unfortunately)

So the language I'm currently obsessed with due to it being my focus throughout a lot of structural courses (AKA it was assigned to me and I grew attached) is Vaeakau-Taumako, which is an Oceanic language spoken by ~1800 people in Solomon Islands (oh I have this intro memorised lmao) and while its phonology is quite simple (though it does have the biggest consonant inventory of that language family, and aspirated consonants!!), its syntax is... So fucked up. Pain and suffering. And yes obviously right now I chose to do a project on more syntax in it.

A very nice, if short word is kovaa (no energy to look for symbol for long vowel in IPA now) which means heron. I am very biased in favour on all bird-related words.

thanumia (where h is the aspiration) means 'to bury' and i just love how softly it rolls of your tongue especially when you combine it with the rather sad meaning

V-T is also one of those languages that have still only one word for blue and green, which is very neat and that word is ['wiwi]

A very specific phrase which I love due to the specificness is 'huatoo oho' (though it's often realised as one [huatoho]) which means 'paddle out to the sea' <3

And they also have reduplication! It can be partial or full, and well it's used for a lot of things but one of them is to express the plurality of the object in a transitive sentence (VT has both accusative and ergative traits isn't it great and cool and messed up <3), but it can also show that something takes place over a longer period of time!

So 'ahangia' (ng is a velar nasal) is 'to open' but 'ahahangia' is 'to open gradually' and it's cool and amazing. Same with 'apihia' and 'apipihia' for 'to close'

And some words (often animal names, but not always and not all of animal names) look like they're made by reduplication but there's no non-reduplicated form in VT so 'lingolingo' (again, ng - velar nasal) is a grasshopper or a similar insect. Maimai is dolphin, manumanu is bird or any animal in general and mongamonga (same, ng - velar) is a cockroach.

It's such a cool language spoken by so few people with only one proper grammar about it (which, granted, is more than most languages have, but still) and ye, just wanted to ramble a lil bit :>

October 5th, 2024 - Arcaea, maimai BUDDiES PLUS, WACCA Plus, CHUNITHM SUN, ONGEKI

finally... the day arrives!!!!! after waiting for so long and trudging through so many lectures that i've had to keep up with at home, the time finally arrived for the elusive arcade event day!!! seeing as i somehow wasn't scheduled for work today (despite it being my last weekend there), i decided to visit the workplace anyway as a customer and not as a worker... and i treated myself to a nice lil' meal before i left to the event!!! ...one that left me Extremely full, but fortunately with enough energy to work on my arcaea backlog, which includes a hard clear on Arcana Eden after sleeping on it for so long!!! with an EX too!!! (literally just cleared it to prove someone on twitter dot com wrong in a comparison to Pentiment, i still think Pentiment is MILES harder especially on thumbs)

alright, but once that was done, it was time to leave for the arcade event and play some of the unique games that i hadn't gotten the chance to play in a while!! starting with the first, rarest, and most unique of all... MAIMAI!!! WITH MY FRIEND!!! WHERE WE BOTH KINDA SUCKED!!! BUT THEN WE PROCEEDED TO SLAY!!!! pretty rocky scores on most of them, but an insane FULL SYNC+ and SSS on RAD DOGS [EXP 10]!!!

after that, i played some WACCA PLUS which was being location tested at the center too!!! it was alright... not great at it, but playing wacca with gloves for the first time was so insanely satisfying and good... a pretty good 980/SSS on Ouverture [EXP 13] too!!!

following this is an even more insanely rare game... ONGEKI!!! been quite a while since i had the chance to play this (5 months since my first play...), but i was back and ready to play!!! ...for just two songs though, it was almost my turn to play maimai after all . yet with the songs i was suggested to play in my very short set, i felt i did... alright i guess?? still a TON of fundamentals i need to learn about this game before i declare myself """decent""", but i'll get there if i put in some more time... but without further ado, here's the two 12s i played!

hopped back into maimai where i got a few Scores that seemed neither good nor bad... but i'd say they were pretty good anyways!!! i even got a color change from green to orange, wahoo !!!!

then, moving on from that to conclude the session, we have CHUNITHM BAYBEE!!! to be frank, this entire session ended much quicker than i would've normally anticipated, but that was mostly because of how Exhausted i was after pumping out the following BANGER scores... like look at all this stuff!!! insane!!! went from 16.01 to 16.09 in a matter of an hour just after finding out acc on 14s was better for rating than S+/SS on 15s!!! (though i Did re-SS a 15 just to Demolish my friend and prove a point www)

and of course, to conclude the day for REAL this time, one last score before i passed out on my bed... that being this INSANE upscore to a 996 on Purple Verse [BYD-10] for a simple arcaea community server challenge... but alas, banger scores are banger scores!!

ITS THIS: THE MAKIGAI MAIMAI P126

There is no reason why a car like this should exist in the year 2077. This is worse than a KIA SOUL. As if Kia Soul’s aren’t the worst and the biggest eye sore on the road in this day and age. CDPR just had to go and make their own sports car version of it. Like I better not see one these causing traffic in Night City because I will crash into that metal coffin on wheels on purpose, like I’m so lucky this game doesn’t have an insurance system like GTA does because I would be broke. I would rather walk from Watson to Pacifica than be caught in one of those. Even Jackie Welles would rather ask V for their wheels or go for public transportation otherwise he would’ve gotten that technologically unadvanced piece of metal until he got the Arch. I bet its not even a Hybrid. And honestly, I have no good reason to feel as strongly as I do about this contraption for transportation but all I can do is ask why? Like who approved this design? CDPR EXPLAIN!!!

And if you have a KIA Soul, specifically a green one, I mean this with full offense and disdain. I’m not sorry.

(Reminder that if you’re short on eddies you can do Gigs, Sidequests, and “Assault in Progress” mini quests to get rich and level up.)

1. Thorton Galena G240 > €$ 13,000 (Regina)

Rusty hunk of junk but functional, especially after your car gets bodied in the beginning of Act 2. Located in the garage of your apartment building.

2. Makigai MaiMai P126 >  €$ 14,000 (Wakako)

Small. Super fucking small but decent and could turn into a red bullet on the highway at the cost of absolutely no control on your turns. Located in the southern part of Charter Hill, Westbrook sitting neatly in a small parking lot.

3. Mahir Supron FS3 >  €$ 16,000 (Reyes)

Sort of van type situation but compact. Cheap and definitely made of plastic. Like it says that in the lore. Located East from Hargreaves St waypoint in Arroyo.

4. Chevillon Thrax 388 Jefferson >  €$ 17,000 (Padre)

It’s a smooth ride, I’ll give Padre that. Long in length and takes years to turn with but it’s not made for street racing so it’s still decent for traffic and looking like a corpo. Located directly South of the Pumping Station waypoint in Wellsprings.

5. Villefort Columbus V340-F Freight >  €$ 19,000 (Dino)

Another van-type situation with plenty of seating. Could drive your kids to soccer with this one and get there in one piece. Average vehicle overall but can go 210mph if needed. Located SouthWest of the Downtown Central waypoint and sitting in a parking lot.

6. Thorton Galena “Gecko” >  €$ 21,000 (Dakota)

Found in the Badlands this is a great choice for rocky roads at 100mph. Go crazy and go stupid outside the city with this bad boy. Shred rubber and whatnot. Be wary of turns and speed in rocky areas as you can make as much airtime as a dirtbike on a ramp! Located SouthWest of the Old Turbines waypoint in the Eastern Badlands.

This is where Street Cred Level will come into play along with your pocket full of eddies:

7. Kaiba Kusanagi CT-3X >  €$ 22,000 > 12 cred (Wakako)

Right after Jackie’s Arch, this is my favorite ride in the game. She’s sleek, perfect for bypassing traffic, and very well-designed. Located in an abandoned parking lot in Japantown, Westbrook directly NorthEast of the Skyline and Salinas waypoint.

8. Archer Quartz EC-L R275 > €$ 29,000 > 12 cred (Regina)

Another great set of wheels for burning rubber and kicking up sand in the Badlands, if you have the eddies for it. Located South of the Offshore St waypoint in Northside and immediately next to a Neutralize the Perps mini quest.

9. Chevillon Emperor 620 Ragnar >  €$ 32,000 > 12 cred (Dino)

First of the heavy duty SUV you acquire at 30k eddies. Didn’t drive this one very much since I’m a small and sleek kinda dude but if you need to ram a taxi or show off to your video game girlfriend your chunky ride, here is the car for you. Located in Corpo Plaza SouthWest of Arasaka Tower waypoint or NorthWest of Reconciliation Park waypoint.

10. Villefort Cortes V5000 Valor >  €$ 37,000 > 12 cred (Padre)

If you want to look like an asshole you can check this one out. Pretty much a bougie limosine type situation. Long car so long turns my guy. Located in Wellsprings, Heywood sitting in a parking lot West of Berkeley & Bay waypoint. 11. Thorton Colby C240T (aka Thorton Colby C125) >  €$ 39,000 > 20 cred (Regina)

Vehicles to pick up your gf/bf and go to a drive-in theater with? This one. Smooth ride with plenty of seating to do you know what at said drive-in theater definitely not watching Bushido 3. Located Northside, Westbrook South of the Docks waypoint in a small parking lot in front of the Ded Zed clothing store.

12. Thorton Colby CX410 Butte (Green) >  €$ 43,000 > 12 cred (Reyes)

Imma be honest... I’m a slut for Thorton car models. This one is straight up satisfying to my ears and eyes. Located in the parking lot of PieZ waypoint in Rancho Coronado, Santo Domingo.

13. Thorton Colby “Little Mule” >  €$ 49,000 > 12 cred (Dakota)

Truckin and fuckin around the Badlands? This is definitely the car for you!  Located near the Sunset Motel parking lot in the Eastern Badlands.

14. Quadra Type-66 Avenger >  €$ 55,000 > 20 cred (Dino)

Remember those Need for Speed games? No? Well imagine it for a second and look at this preem ride. Got that image in your mind? Now look at your wallet. Located West of Metro: Republic Way waypoint tucked under the Empathy club building.

15. Quadra Type-66 “Jen Rowley” (aka Quadra Type-66 640 TS)  >  €$ 58,000 > 20 cred (Reyes)

If you haven’t noticed, Quadra Type-66 are very good at designing cars that make you look like you shred these streets since you were a babe. Like, Baby from Baby Driver would fuck this ride up, you know it choom. Located West of Kendal Park waypoint in Rancho Coronado, no more than 2-minute walk away.

16. Villefort Alvarado V4F 570 Delegate >  €$ 62,000 > 20 cred (Padre)

Another Limo! I’ll be honest, six wheels on a car this low is crazy but Villefort always finds a way. This is the ride you’d drive to your corpo apartment to go pick up your corpo wife so you can take your corpo ride to a nearby corpo restaurant and only drink Spunky Monkey in a wine bottle. Located directly West of the Palms View Way waypoint in The Glen.

17. Herrera Outlaw GTS >  €$ 62,000 > 30 cred (Dino)

Limousine type body but god damn if it ain’t gorgeous to look at. A real sexy piece of wheels, this one. Located in Corpo Plaza, North of Ring Road waypoint. 

18. Quadra Type-66 “Javelina” >  €$ 73,000 > 30 cred (Dakota)

God am I a fan of rides that pick up hefts of sand and dirt? Yeah, I am. Do I love how this car looks? Absolutely. As a Nomad V, is this one of the sexiest rides you can get? ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY. Located in Southern Badlands near the Protein Farm waypoint.

19. Mizutani Shion MZ2 >  €$ 75,000 > 30 cred (Regina)

Not gonna lie, this is the car that occupies my headspace every time I boot up Cyberpunk. Maybe it’s the name, maybe it’s the design, maybe it’s the car I would take to my honeymoon, idk. Located in the same garage as the Thorton Galena in Little China, Watson.

20. Quadra Type-66 “Cthulhu” >  €$ 76,000 > No cred requirement (Regina or Sampson)

Condition to receive for free: Sparing Samson in “The Beast In Me” side quest

Okay other than Beast which is a chonky beast this one is a very speedy beast with classic racecar features but bulky armor. The wiki literally says this ride has 666 horsepower so you KNOW this shit is gonna slap as soon as you get in and hear that engine, dawg.  Can be found in Little China, Watson in Megabuilding H10.

21. Brennan Apollo >  €$ 94,000 > 30 cred (Padre)

If you thought Jackie’s ARCH and the Yaiba Kusanagi was sexy boy you will not be disappointed. Smaller and more compact but a speedy on the highways and countryside. Side Effect is you’ll look like the coolest pizza delivery driver in Night City. Located in Vista Del Ray, Heywood a short walk away East of Delamain HQ waypoint. 22. Mizutani Shion “Coyote” >  €$ 115,000 > 20 cred (Dakota)

... Look at her. Just... just look at her. Look at those wheels, that build, the spoiler, look at her! I would own so many Hot Wheels and have her in a display case alright. Like, you know what you’re signing up for at 100k eddies for Dakota. Like this car that was originally used for scooting around the city was LITERALLY modded for the Badlands. As a Nomad this is a must-have. Located in the Eastern Badlands, North of the Sunshine Motel waypoint.

23. Thorton Mackinaw MTL1 >  €$ 128,000 > 30 cred (Reyes)

The most SUV that ever SUV’ed in Night City. Reyes calls you for this one and shit, it’s new, it’s spotless, it’s a shiny new car, and trouncing down Badlands, the streets of Kabuki, Pacifica, name it. This beaut does go maximum of around 150mph but with how big this bad boy is, it can charge through the highways but be wary of how you turn corners! Located around the block from the Red Dirt Bar waypoint to the East in Arroyo, Santo Domingo.

24. Quadra Turbo-R 740 >  €$ 129,000 > 30 cred (Wakako)

TURBO-TASTIC ride. Again, of racecar design, you can almost smell the 1980s nostalgia from the picture alone. Located in the Dynalar building/waypoint in Charter Hill, Westbrook.

25. ARCH Nazaré >  €$ 138,000 > 40 cred (Wakako)

Writing this guide up to this point I have discovered that Old Lady Wakako knows what “fucking nova” means because all the cars she offers are fucking bangers so of COURSE she would offer an ARCH bike like this bumblebee badboy. You can see all the fun bits in and around the bike to know what you’re getting into so expect some hella smooth sailing. Located on the way TO the Drive-In Theatre in the lot of the Gig: A Shrine Defiled. South of Drive-in Theatre, North Oak, Westbrook.

(Revenge episode 7 afterlog)

i saw some speculation last week so i wasn't too surprised at the addition. Either way being a veteran, you kinda have to guess it in the first ten seconds. I didn't know how I feel about it at first, especially that it bothers how similar Maimai and Sakura are, down to their VA (and when I realize she is Red Blood Cell from the credits I'm like ahhhh sokka).

It was hilarious. People complaining about S2 not holding up to S1's plot twist and comedy can finally shut up. The moment she walked into male sento i knew it's kotaro there lol. I was like, did he straight up kill somebody?? Funny enough, he said he was going to turn her into a zombie "step by step"…

Kotaro used to feel like a mastermind but he became more and more, improvised, and I think that's due to the girls owning their momentum. Instead of driving the group's direction and assigning jobs, he is now more an aid to strengthen it. I'm looking forward to his serious side in dealing with the exposé as the main plot unfolds, as well as this time limit he mentioned and how he and Sakura will resolve. The chin tilt? Hilarious. Him reminiscing Sakura practising alone after school? :(

Maimai herself, is not off-putting. She is a nice kid. I am defensive of the old team, and properly concerned about the lack of connection she shares as a living person. And it does go where I predicted, that she will recognize her shortcomings and voluntarily leaves the group. I'm not in love with this character, but I do appreciate her determination and clarity.

Maimai and Sakura are totally meant to be narrative foils. In a way, Maimai could be what Sakura was before her depression. Their love for Saga, and finding motivation through Idols. Their accent baffles yet it's adorable. Sakura's speech about staying together and fighting for something again moved me. This theme the whole season, of Revenge, of never giving up, couldn't be spelled out anywhere clearer. I have a lot of feelings about that and I think it's going to culminate at the finale where I don't know if I can handle the joy and crying.

Maimai's song. hmmm I don't know enough about music genres 'cept it sounds like a convention idol anime song? I don't think it's a song I'll add to my collection. I understand the emphasis of green (which is my favourite colour) but not a big fan of the colour scheme though. It did shocked me a little when she sang Hikari e. I thought she was gonna drop out but I didn't know it'd be on stage. The proportion isn't quite right in that scene but their shocked faces lol. It's nice to hear the song in the show still, very fittingly at a 'graduation'.

I'm not betting money on an S3. Regardless, the exposé plot has to be solved within this season, along with zombie resurrection. Tae's backstory, honestly, is not a plot point that must be answered. In and out of universe, she is accepted as simply a mascot. Well, she has a comic now (and if it's non-show it can't be that crucial - but I'm alert to the possible tie-in). The conflict of staying in Saga versus getting on a bigger stage is hinted in ep 3 and 4 but it is not as urgent. That plot could even drag on to a third season. However, it's just not usual for anime to get three seasons, and I don't want to wait two more years no matter how much I'm willing to just watch 100 episodes of the girls' daily routine. What I'm seeing is a potential theatrical film to tie up their showdown with Iron Frill and ends with a traditional sunset ending. I'd take it knowing the zombie girls are out there still fighting :')

Lastly, Yugiri!!! "Sorry about keeping you all waiting" lol FINALLY YES. Pointless to guess who the new (old) faces are. I do wonder why her kimono is so plain. Is it her pre Oiran days? Was she training to in a different profession back then?

I'm so excited for the last chapter. No info yet on how the last four episodes go but I do hope it's a wild four-parter? The runtime will be just enough to give a satisfactory finale. Chikiran Chikiran Chikiran next week i'm coming.

I felt for Cargo, who'd suffered as much as Dende and Nail. I also admired him, because despite it all, he'd grown into a wise and empathic community leader. In many ways, the young mage served in a similar role as healer for Namek's warriors as Dende did for Earth's.

Before I could greet him and Caraca, a short, stout figure shot out from behind Cargo's leg - it was Mouri's eldest Esca, tearing past me and nearly colliding with Sulug in his haste to get to his father.

"Esca!" Cargo tried to scold the boy but only succeeded in upsetting Caraca.

"It's OK." I rolled my eyes in the direction of the Grand Elder's chamber for Cargo's benefit as I reached for the fussing baby. "Was on my way out anyway."

Cargo's left antennae flickered quickly in reply as he transferred squirming Caraca to my arms. It was the Namekian equivalent of a raised eyebrow, and the safest way to critique the leader of a race with supersonic hearing when he was in the next room.

I frowned deeply, furrowing my brow and imitating the dour leader. Cargo smirked and stifled a giggle.

"Everything OK? I can't imagine what could come between this tiny green bean and her beloved Uncle Cargo." I stepped past him and outside Mouri's home, confident that Esca and Sulug would occupy the old man's attention for the moment. Outside, I led Cargo to the picnic bench and took a seat at the presently unoccupied 'village square'. "Sulug said you were looking for me?" I tried to settle Caraca onto my lap, but it was a lost cause.

"Sorry." Cargo gave me an apologetic look, then settled into the seat beside me. "I wouldn't have brought her back so early, but we're low on milk, and two extra water bottles weren't enough." His gaze dropped to the tiny alien, who was now pushing her face insistently into my gi top - universal baby for 'I'm hungry'.

"It's fine." I pulled off my cowl - a traditional white Namek-style one, of course - and set it aside before making to loosen my gi. Caraca was momentarily distracted, screeching and trying to reach for it as I set it on the table behind me. "No, no, little one," I scolded gently, then brought my face close up to hers and kissed her between her stubby little antennae. "Thought you were hungry, my little slug bug!" The attention made Caraca squeal in delight, finally settling down once I shifted her little body into the familiar nursing position.

"She's an adorable little slug, that's for sure. And I think I know why now, too."

I couldn't read Cargo's tone, but didn't lift my gaze from the bundle in my arms. "Oh? Any idea why her clan lineage is so unclear? What about being bio female?"

"You know about Namekian fusion?"

"I know of it. I know Piccolo has done it, but he says he wasn't supposed to."

"He's right. Fusion is only ever to be used as a last resort , and only to selfless ends - typically involving protection of Namekku-sei." Cargo paused and glanced towards the Grand Elder's home. "So, in the case of Nail and Piccolo, it passes muster."

"I'd hope."

"I've been researching the sacred texts for more information about fusion. Most references to it appear in the context of catastrophic circumstances like Frieza, and Piccolo and Nail are the first I'm aware of who actually survived a threat like that following a fusion."

"Maybe fusion evolved as adaptive trait and behaviour as a result of constant attempts to conquer Namek for the Dragon Balls? Ow! Caraca!" The milk had stopped flowing, so Caraca got my attention with a bite. "Careful not to hurt Maimai with those fangs," I murmured while shifting to give her access to the other breast.

Cargo went on. "The earliest references to fusion suggest it was known and adapted from another domain of Namekian life into defense - not that it evolved in response to danger."

Namekian fusion didn't evolve as a response to threats? But, that was the only reason it was ever permitted. So why did they start practicing fusion in the first place?

Caraca cooed and snuffled against my chest. Before I could stop it, a free association flashed through my mind. She's just like her-

I turned to face away from Cargo, hoping he didn't see my cheeks redden. “On earth the only imperative for any sort of fusion-type behaviour is sexual reproduction."

Cargo inhaled sharply and I sensed his posture stiffen. "That's exactly where I think it evolved from. Namekian history and legend from both the Dragon and Warrior clans make numerous references to bondmates in the lore of the ancestral Grand Elders - even some that could represent hybrid offspring of Nameks and other races. The sources that Dende provided about Earth slugs and gastropods really clarified that sexual reproduction is how our people have been able to survive and adapt from atrocity and adversity." Now it was Cargo's turn to blush.

"Is that why Caraca is special? The first assigned-female-at-birth Namek born in living memory?"

"That's part of the reason." Cargo looked down again at the baby in my arms. "And it does make her special, but I was also able to get a read on her Ki signature, at last."

Something wasn't right. Caraca's ki signature had been unclear from the start, which didn't concern me much in and of itself. Piccolo was more anxious to figure it out. So was Moori. It was the one thing they agreed on.

"What is it?"

Cargo glanced up at me, then looked anxiously past the Elder's house and towards mine. "Where is Majunia right now?"

Those Snow White Notes – 08 – Modern Maimai and Her Fantastic Friends

The Matsugorou Cup’s team division marches on, Team Umezono’s time on stage grows near, and Shuri is scared. Yui encourages her to focus on getting the first notes right and the rest will fall into place, but only adds to her anxieties by announcing this will be the one and only time she plays on stage.

While Mai waits her turn in the green room, and a braggadocious Arakawa Ushio blows past the rest of his team with his signature twang, the sheer audacity of his performance makes Rai jealous, angry, and fired up, spooking Shuri and Yui upon returning to them. Let’s just say everyone’s face game is in top form this week.

I’ll just get this out of the way: our Power Rangers-colored team doesn’t take the stage this week, which after not doing so last week feels at times like the show is intentionally stalling. It nearly overplays its hand, were it not for some great character development that goes on in between the other performances.

For one thing, we finally get a look back at how the dynamic between Yui, Kaito, and Shuri began, with Yui taking responsibility for protecting the “idiotically kind” and guileless Shuri from the real world (and Kaito’s teasing). Back in the present, when Shuri sees that Yui is just as nervous as her, she curses herself for only thinking about herself.

She believes Yui has every right to hate her for that, but of course Yui doesn’t feel that way at all. She’s angry at herself for talking so big only to be terrified of taking the stage out there, and if she fails, she knows everyone will hate her for the “mean-spirited, ugly woman” she is. Shuri shuts down that kind of talk with a big hug and she won’t let go until Yui lets herself cry, promising to help share her worries from now on.

Meanwhile, as soon as Mai hears where Setsu’s team is prepping, she storms there to “declare war” before her performance, only to walk in on him and the others striking energy-releasing (read: goofy) poses, and slinks away. Honestly I wished she had gotten to actually speak to Setsu there.

That’s because when she takes the stage, she puts on nothing less than the best performance yet in the competition. Her sound is alluring, charming, powerful, and wonderfully modern without coming off as tacky or gimmicky like many of the other groups.

Additionally, while her group is called “Her Fantastic Friends”, there’s a much more cutthroat dynamic in her group where she goes off and does her thing and dares her teammates to try to keep up. It’s at this point that I’m starting to seriously consider Mai to be the show’s Best Girl, though she continues to face stiff competition from Shuri and especially Yui!

Mai’s performance also sinks Kaito, Yui, and Shuri’s motivation to new lows, only for Setsu to stand up tall and proud and say his motivation is at its max after hearing Mai. As they prepare to take the stage, Yui notices Kaito’s parents have turned out to see him, and assures him no one (aside from her perhaps) worried about him more after his soccer career-ending injury.

She gives him an encouraging punch to the face, for which he thanks her by patting her head and assuring her that she’s kind and not ugly. This turns her face as red as her samue. After placing a calming hand on Shuri’s shoulder, Setsu smacks both Kaito and Yui on the back and tells everyone to go out there and do it, after having consulted with Rai in secret about doing “something unorthodox” in response to Mai’s performance.

I can’t wait to see what he came up with, and I know the show isn’t going to be so cruel as to let them make fools of themselves out there. With Setsu leading the way and having had more than adequate time to sort through all their smoldering emotions, it’s finally time to play…next week!
