Okay I feel like Bobby's dad was also a pilot, and he knows a few people. And I HC that Bobby was also obsessed with space/ the Apollo landings. So his dad gets him a pass to tour the Kennedy Space Centre, and when he dates you that's one of the dates he takes you on.
yesssss! absolutely! i feel like his dad was a pilot and his mum was in STEM science, or astro physics. it’s how bobby got his love for flying and building rocket ships. hence, the incredibly accurate hc of bobby being obsessed with space and the apollo landings 🥹 alongside that, he loves constellations and astronomy, and another one of his dates with you has been stargazing! 💌

Researchers and monster hunters are gathering in the United Kingdom's Scottish Highlands this weekend to look for the eternally elusive Loch Ness Monster, the biggest search for the legendary beast in more than 50 years.
Somewhere beneath the shimmering surface of Loch Ness lies Nessie, the legendary sea beast whose reputation spans nearly 1,500 years — at least, that's what monster hunters and Nessie enthusiasts from around the world hope to prove Saturday and Sunday.
The Loch Ness Centre and the research group Loch Ness Exploration are asking all aspiring monster hunters to join in on the biggest search since 1972.
"Our purpose is to observe, record and study the natural behaviour of the Loch and phenomena that may be more challenging to explain," the Loch Ness Exploration Facebook page reads.
"If you believe that the Loch Ness Monster exists then we invite you to join the search, we equally invite you to support the study of the Loch and the natural behaviour of the elements that may be the root cause of these strange reports from Loch Ness."
Investigators are breaking out all sorts of technology, including surveying equipment the Loch Ness Centre says has never been used on the freshwater lake before.
Drones with infrared cameras will fly over the lake and a hydrophone will be used under the surface to detect "Nessie-like calls," the Centre says.
Volunteers will also participate in a large surface watch of the loch, scanning the surface for any irregularities.
However, due to an "overwhelming demand" from enthusiasts, the group is no longer accepting applicants hoping to participate in person.
But the Loch Ness Centre says those still eager to participate can do so virtually through a livestream.
At 22 square miles and with a maximum depth of 788 feet, Loch Ness is Great Britain's largest lake by volume and second-largest by surface area, according to Encyclopedia Britannica.
Though the first written accounts of a monster are attributed to the Irish monk Saint Columba's encounter in 565 A.D., reports of a creature in the lake are depicted in ancient stone carvings found in the area.
But the legend of a monster lurking in the loch didn't garner greater attention until April of 1933, when a couple driving along the newly built road around the lake saw an animal they compared to a "dragon or prehistoric monster," according to the Scottish Maritime Museum.
More sightings soon followed, and big game hunter Marmaduke Wetherell was commissioned to track the monster down in December of 1933.
He said he found large tracks along the shoreline, but zoologists at the Natural History Museum debunked the tracks.
The following year was when English physician Robert Wilson took a photo, now known as the "Surgeon's Photograph," which appeared to show Nessie's head atop a long slender neck poking out of the water.
The picture was printed in the Daily Mail and the Loch Ness Monster was thrust into international stardom.
One of the participants in that search confessed on his deathbed that the picture was staged, according to the Daily Mail.
The Loch Ness Centre says there have been more than 1,140 official Nessie sightings.
Paul Nixon, the Centre's general manager, said he's excited to see what turns up after the waters are searched like never before over weekend.
"We are guardians of this unique story," Nixon said.
"And as well as investing in creating an unforgettable experience for visitors, we are committed to helping continue the search and unveil the mysteries that lie underneath the waters of the famous Loch."

Barry Hertz’s article reproduced below:
There is a strong case to be made that Norman Jewison was the most important Canadian filmmaker to never make Canadian films.
A child of Toronto but a creature of Hollywood, Jewison, who died Saturday at the age of 97, built his directorial career outside his beloved home country from almost the very beginning. A stint at the BBC in London turned into a few years at the CBC, which led to gigs inside American network television, which in turn allowed him to wriggle himself inside, and then more or less conquer, the studio system.
Did Jewison consider himself “Canadian” as he made every kind of film under the L.A. sun?
In 24 features produced across five rollicking decades of industry excess, was there some kind of homegrown thread that could connect everything from a fizzy heist flick (1968′s The Thomas Crown Affair) to go-for-broke musicals (1971′s Fiddler on the Roof, 1973′s Jesus Christ Superstar) to a stirring legal drama (1979′s ... And Justice for All) to a screwball rom-com (1987′s Moonstruck)?
Perhaps the answer can be found in Jewison’s intense commitment to social justice – his unshakable belief that filmmaking not only had the power but also the duty to change the way that we see our world, and each other. That is as admirably progressive a Canadian value as anything, and can be felt powering Jewison’s most searing productions, including 1967′s In the Heat of the Night, 1984′s A Soldier’s Story, 1999′s The Hurricane, and even, in its own way, his wild 1966 farce The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming!
But despite setting one film in Montreal (1985′s Jane Fonda convent drama Agnes of God) and half of another in Toronto (The Hurricane), Jewison never made the Great Canadian Film. Not that he didn’t want to.
“I wish I could have made a statement about Canada vs. the U.S., and Canada vs. the rest of the world. I would have loved to do it. But I never found a story that I believed I could make into an exciting motion picture,” Jewison told The Globe and Mail in 2016. “If you set out to make a big statement about Canada, you’re going to fail!”
While Canadian filmmakers – both Jewison’s contemporaries and those who followed him decades afterward – might disagree with such a statement, one thing becomes clear when considering the director’s improbable, eclectic and essential canon: Norman Jewison never, ever wanted to fail. While he may have stumbled here and there, disaster was flirted with more than tolerated. If there is one through-line to Jewison’s films, it is the fierce commitment to the belief that a good story told in a highly entertaining fashion – slick, precise, sincere – is the very best way to win hearts and minds. Give it your all, and audiences will respond in kind.
Sometimes this worked out better in theory than practice – few contemporary moviegoers will find much to revisit in 1982′s Best Friends, 1994′s Only You or 1996′s Bogus – but when Jewison was able to line up his passions and resources just so, it resulted in a kind of beautiful cinematic alchemy. He wrung tremendous performances from Hollywood legends (Steve McQueen, Sidney Poitier, Al Pacino), uncovered new layers in superstars who audiences thought they already knew inside out (Cher), minted new stars (Nicolas Cage, Denzel Washington), and made it all seem so deceptively easy.
Even Jewison’s missteps contained such endlessly fascinating elements – the distressingly prescient corporate satire of Rollerball, the labour politics of F.I.S.T., the lingering political ambiguity of what would be his final film, The Statement – that they all demand attention and reassessment. Jewison was a relentlessly committed craftsman who worked in the service of the audience. He was Canada’s ultimate showman, even if he didn’t believe he could ever show Canada to the rest of the world.
Not to say that Jewison ever forgot where he came from, either.
As founder of the Canadian Film Centre, a charitable organization that has helped train 1,900-plus filmmakers, writers and performers since its inception in 1988, Jewison played an integral role in building up this country’s screens sector. It was a community that Jewison himself never relied upon to build his own career – but only because it was a community that simply did not exist at the time.
And what is more Canadian than helping others, even if you were never given the same opportunity yourself?

A fun option that combines penpal letters with happy mail is to share a tiny sketchbook across country! Just keep it small and light enough for lettermail rate lol.
Finally getting a chance to fill a spread. Here is Sinclair Centre in Vancouver BC done in pencil and watercolour. On its way to Ontario now! :D
And of course, a random found poem because text in sketchbooks is so much more interesting. Make your mailbox happy again!

Dear God, Westminster was always bad but lately it’s like the Tories have been engaged in a secret contest to see who can come out with the most absolutely rancid takes in the Commons
#I think Miriam Cates has won the last two PMQs on that front she just stands up and spews out the most hateful Daily Mail level lies#And fails to provide any credible evidence#But in the wake of Keir Starmer's unbelievably stupid decision-making over the last week#We've also been subjected to unhinged rants from the Dishonourable Member for North East Somerset (I mean more unhinged than usual)#And numerous other MPs (and members of the Lords) holding forth in a manner that Donald Trump would have thought gauche#The Tories were always gross but half of them seem to have lost touch with reality and to base their speeches off dubious facebook posts#The front bench (packed- you will no doubt remember- with appalling examples like Suella Braverman) look tame by comparison#As if we needed any more evidence that this country has been dragged to the (far) right#We don't even have to look at the Labour party's centre-right approach to certain issues; the Tories are wearing tinfoil hats in parliament#Please please let Miriam Cates be trounced in the next election though dear god she has to go she lowers the IQ of the whole chamber#Praying that the electors of Penistone and Stocksbridge come to their senses and oust her as soon as they can#Michael Fabricant and Lee Anderson are also contenders for that position but they haven't offended me quite so deeply this week

I haven’t really seen any of the more recent U.S. election news hitting tumblr yet so here’s some updates (now edited with sources added):
There’s evidence of Trump cheating and interfering with the election.
Possible Russian interference.
Mail-in ballots are not being counted or “recognized” in multiple (notably swing) states.
30+ bomb threats were called in and shut down polling stations on Election Day.
20+ million votes are still unaccounted for, and that’s just to have the same voter turnout as 2020.
There was record voter turnout and new/first-time voter registration this year. We definitely should be well over the turnout in 2020.
U.S. citizens are using this site to demand, not only a recount, but a complete investigation into election fraud and interference for the reasons stated above:
Here is what I submitted as an example:
An investigation for election interference and fraud is required. We desperately need a recount or even a revote. The American people deserve the right to a free and fair election. There has been evidence unveiled of Trump cheating and committing election fraud which is illegal. There is some evidence of possible Russian interference. At least 30+ bomb threats were called in to polling places. Multiple, notably swing states, have ballots unaccounted for and voting machines not registering votes. Ballots and ballot boxes were tampered with and burned. Over 20 million votes that we know of are unaccounted for. With record turnout and new voter registration this year, there should be no possibility that there are less votes than even in the 2020 election.
Sources (working on finding more links but if anyone wants to add info, it’s appreciated):
FBI addressing Russian interference and bomb threats:
Emails released by Rachael Bellis (private account, can’t share original tweet) confirming Trump committing election fraud:
Pennsylvania's Centre County officials say they are working with their ballot scanner vendor to figure out why the county's mail-in ballot data is "not being recognized when uploaded to the elections software:”
Wisconsin recount:
[ID:
Multiple screenshots and images.
The first is a screenshot with a link and information for contacting the White House directly regarding election fraud. The instructions include choosing to leave a comment to President Joe Biden directly and to select election security as the reason.
The screenshot then instructs people to include any or all of the following information in a paragraph as a comment to the president:
32 fake bomb threats were called into Democratic leaning poll places, rendering polling places closed for at least an hour.
A lot of people reporting their ballots were not counted for various reasons.
This all occurred in swing states.
This is too coincidental that these things happen and swing in his favor after months of hinting at foul play.
Directly state that an investigation for tampering, interference, fraud is required, not just a recount.
The second image is from the FBI Twitter account that reads:
The FBI is aware of bomb threats to polling locations in several states, many of which appear to originate from Russian email domains. None of the threats have been determined to be credible thus far. https://t.co/j3YfajVK1m — FBI (@FBI) November 5, 2024
The next four Gmail screenshots of an email sent to Rachael Bellis from Chris T. Spackman that read together as follows:
Dear BELLIS, RACHAEL E., The Dauphin County Board of Elections received a challenge to your absentee ballot you applied for in the November 5, 2024 General Election. The challenge argues that a provision of the Pennsylvania Election Code takes precedence over the federal Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), which requires states and counties to permit U.S. citizens who move overseas to vote by absentee ballot for federal offices based on their last U.S. residential address.
The full text of the challenge that was filed appears below this email.
You may respond to the challenge in any of the following ways:
1. Call the Bureau of Registration and Election at (717) 780-6360;
2. Email a statement to the Bureau at Election [email protected]. Any statement you submit regarding the period during which you lived in Dauphin County, any family or connections that you still have here, and why you are now residing abroad would be read into the record.
3. Appear in person at a Board of Elections hearing scheduled for Friday, November 8 at a time to be determined in the Commissioners Public Hearing Room, 4th floor of Dauphin County Administration Building, 2 S 20d St, Harrisburg, PA 17111. The meeting is also likely to be livestreamed on Facebook on the Dauphin County channel.
Sincerely,
Christopher T Spackman
TEXT OF CHALLENGE BEGINS
Dear Dauphin County Board of Elections,
I am submitting this challenge to an absentee ballot application pursuant to 25 Pa. Stat.
3146.8(f).
25 Pa. Stat. 3146.8(f) Any person challenging an application for an absentee ballot, an absentee ballot, an application for a mail-in ballot or a mail-in ballot for any of the reasons provided in this act shall deposit the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) in cash with the county board, which sum shall only be refunded if the challenge is sustained or if the challenge is withdrawn within five (5) days after the primary or election. If the challenge is dismissed by any lawful order then the deposit shall be forfeited. The county board shall deposit all deposit money in the general fund of the…
The rest of the forwarded email is cut off.
The last image is a screenshot of the official statement from the Centre County, Pennsylvania Board of Commissioners released on November 6, 2024 that states:
Centre County Working with Ballot Scanner Vendor to Export Election Results.
(Bellefonte, PA) -Centre County Elections Office is working continuously to provide mail-in ballot data in order to post unofficial results.
To this point, all ballots have been scanned, including all mail-in ballots.
Centre County's Election team and IT team have identified that the data are successfully being exported from the mail-in ballot scanners, but that the data is not being recognized when uploaded to the elections software.
Centre County's Administrator, John Franek, Jr. stated, "We have not stopped working, and we will continue to work until unofficial results are posted and reported to the Pennsylvania Department of State."
As a next step, Centre County has begun working with the equipment vendor to adjust configurations to make the two systems-the mail-in ballot scanner and the elections software where data are uploaded -compatible with one another.
We will provide updates as we make progress.
