This 1848 home in Beverly, NJ has a such a variety of styles. If only a professional photographer had taken the photos, it may have highlighted its potential better. 11bds, 5ba. $899K. If I had the funds, I'd buy it, but I'd have to trade NYC for Philly.
Very grand entrance hall, but the tilted camera and glare don't do it justice.
Off the hall is a grand staircase. Beautiful stained glass doors up on the landing.
Nice sitting room with original fireplace.
In the room, the photographer got fancy. I don't even know what it is- a family room? There are over a hundred photos of the listing and he used this technique on a lot of them.
Very large dining room. They've even got a second table in here.
The kitchen is very big. I don't mind the black cabinet remodel. Love the ceiling. Looks like a real cook's kitchen.
And, this is the kitchen's everyday dining area. Love the wall.
Down a few stairs is a very large rec room with doors to the patio.
There's also a bar down here.
This bedroom is huge, but needs decor.
Bd. #2 is nicer with shelving, shutters and an original fireplace.
And, this bd. is very interesting. They're all so large, too.
These stairs look like they were the service stairs back in the day.
This would've been a maid's bedroom.
Nice bath up here.
Up in the attic, the bedrooms are much more modern, b/c they're newer, but the floors are original.
The property is 1.44 acres and is on the banks of the Delaware River that separates NJ and PA.
You can watch the boats going by.
Beautiful entrance to the property.
Then pull under the porte cochere where there's also a porch.
The home's name is Waterview.
They have several framed original antique maps on the walls.

Since my birthday is tomorrow, I figured I would make a short list of what I want just in case anybody is in a giving mood:
Money.
Any of the many, many, many minidollhouses on my Amazon wishlist.
For the Leverage team, and in particular Hardison, to hack into the system and wipe out our collective student debt. (And also all the medical debt while he’s at it.)
A free ticket to go back in time and watch Queen perform at Live Aid from the front row.
The ability to teleport.
A lifetime supply of red licorice laces and salted roasted pumpkin seeds.
For Pringles to start making those cinnamon sugar tortilla chips again.
To dump a truckload of elephant diarrhea on Ronald Reagan’s grave.
I said money, right?
To lose forty pounds in one night, preferably without delivering a child I didn’t even know I was pregnant with or losing at least one limb.
Five more seasons of “Sense8.”
That really fancy train ride from Paris to Istanbul that costs like 80k Euros.
The ghosts of the people in town who died of COVID to haunt the newspaper editor who added “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” to his enormous Trump sign out front of his office.
One free month at the Library Hotel in NYC where I’m not allowed to do anything but read and write.
A literary agent.
A pitch-black Victorian house decorated with 90s movie witch vibes.
A Bluetooth connection between my brain and my phone so I can just download my goddamn story ideas instead of wasting time typing them out.
For all of my WIPs to edit and polish themselves.
A free maid service that doesn’t judge about the depression mess and makes me a tea before they go.
A wallet that always has the exact amount of money I need inside it whenever I open it up and can never be stolen or lost from me.
The ability to choose to watch a show I’ve been meaning to watch instead of watching the same old show for the eleventy millionth time.
For someone to come repair the patch of cross-stitching I fucked up so I don’t have to.
My own capybara.
Yup, definitely said money. I take PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, carrier pigeon, singing telegram, personal delivery by Janelle Monae, and the quiet but satisfying feeling of all my creditors suddenly forgetting I exist.
Chocolate chip cookie dough without the chips in a jar that never empties.
To live long enough to finish all the books in my TBR pile.
For Professor to live just as long as I do, if not forever beyond that.
For Elon Musk to eat several thousand fried dicks.
For Donald Trump to end up broke and alone with every single one of his followers having finally realized the emperor has no clothes.
World peace, free education for all, universal healthcare, high-speed rail, the end of poverty and bigotry, kindness throughout the land, and for whatever embarrassing memory pops into your head at the worst of times to vanish from existence as though it never, ever happened.

Hiii so I was listening to the latest video by the youtube channel Watts the Safeword and they're talking about old leather community things and one of the guys talks about these leather dinner parties that they used to do and I *immediately* thought of your M/s fic
I dunno if it would fit in that fic specifically, but I love the idea of Armand hosting a leather dinner party in the early 80s. It was the kind of thing where a bunch of kinksters in full leather gear would have a dinner party where the subs would serve and the Doms would sit at the table and it would be very protocol based and I'm *obsessed* with this idea
I love this!!
The leather communities of the 70s/80s are so interesting to me, especially the queer leather/kink clubs in NYC that no longer exist. I can't imagine Armand not having wanted to go to them at least once, curious how this community cropped up.
I've also long had the idea of Armand doing some domestic discipline with Daniel because in my mind Daniel is such a slob lmao Like he leaves his clothes on the floor after he changes, he doesn't wash the dishes right away, he leaves bottles and cans sitting around. He's used to hotels by the time they get together and hotels have maid service.
So like it would be so easy for Armand to strip his ass naked and make him do some chores with military precision. Have him fold his laundry with his teeth or get his ass beat for every can he's left on the coffee table. Or teach him some really complicated victorian table setting with all the fancy forks and plates and make him withstand a figging until he can get it right. The possibilities are endless!!
So YEAH this is absolutely in my wheelhouse and now I wanna watch this youtube channel so thank you for the ask!!

Types of Domestic Services
Domestic Services includes work performed within a residence that provides cleaning and maintenance, cooking, laundry and ironing, care for children and elderly dependents and household errands. This type of work has historically been considered women’s labor, reflecting gender roles and economic contributions.
The decline of live-in domestic service has influenced family structures and labor dynamics, prompting discussion of issues surrounding labor rights and compensation for domestic workers worldwide.
Cleaning
Cleaning is the most common type of domestic service. It may be performed by individuals or by agencies. The latter may send workers to a home for a set number of hours per week, or they may use a mobile app that allows the worker to pick up assignments as she goes.
Women are overrepresented as house cleaners and aides to elderly persons. This reflects the gendered division of labor as well as discrimination against women, who often lack other employment opportunities.
Most workers in this occupation are self-employed. However, the Danish trade union 3F negotiated the first collective agreement with an agency in 2018, allowing workers to transition from self-employed to employed status after 100 hours of work. This is an important step for addressing the insecurity and low wages associated with domestic services.
Cooking
Cooks work in residences to prepare meals and manage kitchens. They often perform other household tasks, such as laundry and grocery shopping.
Historically, domestic services have been primarily women's work. This type of employment has shaped family structures and gender roles while contributing to economic contributions made by working women.
The Fair Labor Standards Act defines domestic service as "service of a household nature performed in or about the private home (permanent or temporary) of the person for whom the employee is hired." This includes cooks, butlers, valets, housekeepers, maids, governesses, nurses, caretakers and animal groomers. Hospitals rely on domestic services staff to keep corridors and offices clean and provide food for patients and staff. Customer service is key in this industry. Frequently, employees begin in this type of work with few or no qualifications and progress into team leader positions.
Child Care
Child care has emerged as a central issue for many families. Pre-pandemic studies linked accessible, affordable child care to women's ability to work and family economic stability.
In NYC, you can locate child care programs on NYC's Child Care Connect, which lists regulated programs. You can also find a list of Resource and Referral programs that coordinate local child care services.
You may want to consider a Parent's Helper, which is someone hired by a household to provide full- or part-time child and domestic services. Some parents' helpers have previous child care experience. Other providers are unregulated and may offer informal care in their own homes. This care is usually cheaper than regulated programs. However, you should know that unregulated care doesn't meet minimum health and safety standards.
Elder Care
Elder care services can include home cleaning, grocery shopping and meal preparation, running errands, or providing hands-on medical or other personal assistance to elderly or convalescing people. The services may be provided by family members, friends or paid helpers, including home health aides and certified nursing assistants. Some of the services are covered by Medicare or Medicaid.
As COVID-19 showed, the need for high-quality child and elder care is great and growing. Yet, significant public investment is needed to bolster higher wages and effective enforcement of labor standards in the sector (Banerjee, Gould, and Sawo 2021). This could drastically improve workers' financial security while bringing affordable child and elder care to households. This would also create jobs that are not only good for families, but also a valuable economic resource in communities.
Special Events
Using personal photos, inspiring quotes, images and other objects, residents created vision boards that showcased their dreams for the future. This event was not only a celebration of survivors’ strengths, but also an opportunity for them to connect with one another and build new relationships in a safe space.
Domestic services can include general housekeeping staff, maids, nannies, cooks, valets, butlers and gardeners. They can help you with chores such as washing clothes, cleaning out cupboards and drawers, vacuuming the carpets, dusting and washing windows.
Customer service skills are often important for those who work in domestic services. For example, some domestic workers deliver food to patients in hospitals. This makes their hospital stay more pleasant and helps them recover more quickly. This can be a very rewarding career for those who enjoy working with people.

The dynamism of New York City offers various living spaces from compact studio apartments to lavish multi-story homes. These varied settings require specialized cleaning services, making it essential to hire the right maid services NYC that understand the unique needs of your dwelling and provide customized solutions. In a city as diverse as NYC, it's important to choose a service that can adapt to the specific requirements of your living space and deliver quality service. Matching Your Living Space to the Right Maid Service The characteristics of your living space can significantly influence the type of cleaning service you need. Here's a breakdown of common NYC living spaces and what to look for in a maid service: Studio Apartments: Though small in size, studio apartments can benefit from a cleaning service specializing in maximizing small spaces, using efficient techniques and products to make every corner sparkle. Multi-Room Apartments: For larger apartments with multiple rooms, a maid service capable of handling more extensive spaces is essential. Such a service should efficiently manage different rooms and common areas, focusing on the details without compromising the big picture. Townhouses: Townhouses often have unique features like staircases, fireplaces, and antique fixtures that require special attention. Your maid service should offer specialized cleaning techniques to care for these elements while ensuring overall cleanliness. Essential Factors to Consider When Hiring a Maid Service in NYC In your quest for the right maid service, consider the following factors: Customizable Plans: The maid service should offer flexible and customizable plans that cater to your living space's unique needs and your schedule. Professionalism: The service should employ professional cleaners who are trained, experienced, and reliable. This ensures high-quality service and peace of mind. Comprehensive Cleaning: The service should provide a thorough cleaning that includes dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and other tasks, ensuring every area of your home is immaculate. Recommended Maid Service in NYC One excellent recommendation that checks all these boxes is cleanyourcouch.nyc. Known for their professional and comprehensive cleaning services, they offer customized cleaning plans that adapt to the needs of different NYC living spaces.
