GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR THIS IS JSDCEF3RGTYHUJ

so a while back, i wrote a post about shidou and mahiru's names and how, if you remove the wood kanji, each word reflects their character. the person who discovered this deleted their socials (sob sob) so i figured i'd post it here for archiving!
thank you so much to @doctorbunny for their corrections and additions!!
01. Haruka 櫻 -> 嬰 Sharp Music Note, Infant * infant used in words as infanticide as opposed to regular baby stuff
02. Yuno 樫 -> 堅 Strong, Resolute
03. Fuuta 梶 -> 尾 Tail, End *potentially a reference to his cowardly nature. in backdraft there's a pun where fuuta sings, "hey mouse, say cheese!"
04. Mu 楠 -> 南 South *mu is often represented by the number four (her number code, four friends, four desks, four lockers, etc)
05. Shidou 桐 -> 同 Same *appears in the lyrics: 同じ 重さにはなれない -> “Throw down”, someone’s value cannot be the same as another
06. Mahiru 椎-> 隹 Old Bird *hinako's name is spelt 雛子 with the same radical and means chick/duckling and child
05. Kazui 椋 -> 京 Capital (City) *gonna be honest i have no clue what this means in relation to kazui
08. Amane 桃 -> 兆 Omen
09. Mikoto 榧 -> 匪 Negation, Wicked Person *to quote doctorbunny "[this] is used in many bandit words as well as 匪躬 which means 'self sacrificing service' which means 'to be loyal to one's lord or nation without regards for oneself' This could describe Mikoto's experience with work but Interestingly the name kanji in 'Mikoto' 尊 means lord/highness
010. Kotoko 杠 -> 工 Labour, Work
#bless milgram wiki for having screenshots of the songs in their gallery#its so frustrating for me having to screenshot the mvs and removing the black borders myself smh#♡. cinnamon lead astray#milgram#haruka sakurai#yuno kashiki#fuuta kajiyama#muu kusunoki#shidou kirisaki#mahiru shiina#kazui mukuhara#amane momose#mikoto kayano#kotoko yuzuriha

am i danganronpa posting in the year of 2023? yes. i am. anyways sdr2 will forever be one of my favorite casts of characters and i love them all dearly. so i basically just drew all of them as stylized as i could.
these were 90% done from memory except for mahiru bc i forgot what she looked like entirely besides her color scheme.
thought process for all of them under the cut in order of when i drew them
mikan: my brain went to that one sprite of her as it does. and she’s purple and honestly doesn’t have enough specific craziness to have more than one color so she’s very one-color
kazuichi: very sharp. very square. very pink as well, but just pink didn't feel right. he has to have that gross green
akane: i couldn’t see her colors being changed v much but not so much that its. too normal.
teruteru: very proud of his face. he's very oval. and still not crazy enough for many colors
hiyoko: it was a very specific vision to have her with the UGLIEST yellow hair. also i don’t like the banana shape so i tried several other pigtail shapes to be normal about
gundham: took me about 3 tries to get his drawing right. i still have a crush on him. he’s mostly magenta but i felt like that was too little so i gave him red eyes
ibuki: i am proud of her. needed her to look fucking radioactive
sonia: silly girl! she's relatively normal looking but she is not a normal lady. very :3 coded
chiaki: im sOOO proud of my color choices for her. idk why but the dull pink and blue combo is my fave. also i completely went off base with her design on purpose bc i don’t like her actual design. my girl is a GAMER. let her look like one.
mahiru: i don’t know much about her i actually had to google just her so i knew what her hair looked like. ok bowl cut you eat that up!
nagito: he’s fucking insane. don’t like how his hair looks ingame so i made it better. i also totally forgot his outfit if you couldn’t tell. love giving crazy people neon eyes
fuyuhiko: made him accidentally smaller than the rest but i think it fits. baby face... little fucker
peko: tried to make her colorful but at the same time incredibly gray. she gives gray to me. she radiates gray
monokuma: i don’t like the strictly black and white design so i might it alot more red, and just made all the extra bits bright fucking red
imposter: i didn’t know what to do with him but my brain told me to make him orange so i did.
nekomaru: originally he was just gonna be blue, but my brain was like no... give him a more prominent smile. so i did !
monomi: had to make her soo pink and silly coded... gave her a closed eye, a tongue out, and made her folded ear just tilted down a bit more.
hajime: i tried to make him the most normal looking out of all of them. he just had to be.
#danganronpa#im especially proud of ibuki and chiaki#and monomi tbh#sdr2#should i tag them all#yes#monokuma#hajime hinata#ultimate imposter#nekomaru nidai#monomi#peko pekoyama#nagito komaeda#fuyuhiko kuzuryu#chiaki nanami#mahiru koizumi#akane owari#hiyoko saionji#sonia nevermind#mikan tsumiki#kazuichi souda#teruteru hanamura#gundham tanaka#ibuki mioda#secret tag at the bottom#i have a fat crush on gundham tanaka to this day

Ah what the heck I'll post it through here
So in some discord servers, you've seen me specualte that Amane's uniform is inspired by the private Catholic Fukuoka Kaisei girl's school affiliated primary school (福岡海星女子学院附属小学校)
Now, because of the name, I assumed this was an all girls primary school And that the picture above was of 4 girls and the school simply allowed children to wear either skirts or shorts (its uncommon for Japanese elementary schools to have uniform to begin with so I could see a laxer dress code when it comes to stuff like this)
However After a bit more reading of their website Turns out that the Fukuoka Kaisei girl's school affiliated primary school Despite the name Has in fact been a co-ed/mixed gender primary school for the last 50-so years And while I can't find a dress code on their website It does seem like all the students in pictures on their site who wear shorts are boys
Anyway to cut a long story short: Amane's uniform actually resembles the boys one more than the girls (shorts instead of skirt + no ribbon + more central buttons)
And I know you like the trans girl Amane theory so I figured you'd enjoy this info
The only disclaimer I have to give is that the long haired child whose father tattles on Amane is in the same uniform (shorts and all)
So like if this is a girl then occam's razor is that girls at Amane's school just wear shorts (also it'd be strange for Amane's cult to follow gender rolls Except for hair?? idk maybe im overthinking)
TRANS AMANE BELIEVERS WE MIGHT STAY WINNING!!!! It would be weird if they did follow the entire dress code Except for the hair. Additionally those buttons are tripping me up since their Buttoned like the girls so this actually comes somewhere more in the middle of the Both of them...if it does turn out my insane "Amane perceives gender in the same way a cat does, it's just there" catthing Amane idea is real I'm going to explode.
Regarding the girl though...I can't believe I can unveil my insane Queer Infighting Amane idea- okay so in cults it's generally heavily encouraged to outright spy and tattle on people who misbehave:
(BITE)
Information Control: Encourage spying on other members a. Impose a buddy system to monitor and control member b. Report deviant thoughts, feelings and actions to leadership c. Ensure that individual behavior is monitored by group
I think, and this is pure speculation there's is very little supporting this I just like the idea. It be fun if they were BOTH trans.
My reasoning behind this is, first of all Amane doesn't seem to have many friends. Her T2 distorted voiceline has her say:
Father is a very praiseworthy person. Once his virtue increases, he'll come back home, right? It's a little lonely, but I'm fine!
Which, okay it's fair that her homelife is lonely, this doesn't necessarily inform her school life. But if we go to the Prison she's rather isolated overall.
Even in T1. Yuno and Mahiru are people she considers "close" but that's after mulling it over a bit due to being asked.
T1Q10: Is there any prisoner you're close with? A: If I were to say, I guess it would be Yuno and Mahiru.
It's not for a lack of Trying, she tries very hard actually. It's just that people tend to note the way she acts is weird and that gets exasperated in T2 where it's said she's pretty isolated.
But also, I was discussing with a mutual about her relation with this peer and they said that it's possible that this question:
T2Q11: Did you love the person you killed? A: I loved them.
Is referring to a Second Victim (This child) and Not her mother because...well one Amane has shown Very Little Fondness for her mother, and two it's entirely possible she killed multiple people because her staff in Purge March has blood on it Before she gets to her house.
Second thing: Cat Symbolism, Cat Symbolism stay winning forever. There is substantial amount of subtext you can wring out of the Cat being representative of sin and impurity, and Amane taking care of it and also being the Cat. Same with having her be "found out" by a peer and then sold out to, to her Religious Fundamentalist parents.
So now we go into my insane, circumstantial evidence, idea of Queer Infighting. I love WKTD and a big thing in that game is that even if your a "bad kid" if there's someone "worse" than you, you can live another day. And this kid can be anyone, the devil can be Anyone.
Amane has stated an inability to be a good girl:
Only if, only if, only if I could be a good girl
And a lack of desire to exactly "be one" since it requires her not being...herself, and she's happy with who she is.
T2Q20: How do you feel about you not being like everyone else? A: Nevertheless I was born as myself, so I'm happy
So, I'm just saying on a purely speculatory "this would be fun" basis. If we got queer infighting 12 year olds who are trying their best to be "good." I would explode.
Also, she is paralleled with both Mukuhara Kazui and known Genderless Freak Es so, yknow.
#asks#other analysis#doctorbunny#sorry if this is all over the place I have a lot of disconnected thoughts on this

Updated Danganronpa Headcanons
Made a post with these a while ago but I reorganized them and added more, so I figured I’d just repost them
Under the cut because there’s a lot
General Headcanons:
1. Maki has several bird feeders, squirrel feeders, and just other foods left outside for animals. She refills these everyday
2. Himiko has dwarfism
3. Tenko loves wearing pride stuff, like shirts and bows and bracelets and stuff
4. Angie was born on Rota (one of the Northern Mariana Islands), specifically in Songsong (the second largest village on Rota).
5. Miu bleached her hair
6. Miu loves watching cartoons
7. When Miu was a kid she was super hyperactive
8. Miu used to get so many little injuries and she never knew where they came from, she was always covered in bruises and bandaids
9. Miu used slurs because she didn’t know the meaning behind them, she assumed it was just another name for a group of people (she got corrected and is now working on it)
10. When Miu was younger she always wrote her name “Mew” because she liked Pokémon and loved the fact she sorta shared a name with one
11. When Kiyo thinks that someone “would be a good friend for sister”, he really means that he likes them and he thinks they would get along if he didn’t feel like he was cheating on his sister
12. Kiyo’s sister was more traditional, Kiyo almost always had traditional Japanese meals that she home made and was taught to dress conservatively, which was only enabled by his cooler body temperature bc illness
13. Kiyo really likes spaghetti but he is also a big fan of dry cheerios
14. Angie wishes her name was Angelica
15. Ryoma has the “Hang In There” poster
16. Kiyo wears anything as long as he’s covered, gender roles don’t phase him, only gendered terms (tis an unfortunate existence)
17. Kokichi knows morse code
18. Kaito and Shuichi have a “secret” handshake (it’s pretty simple and Kaito wants to use it everywhere), Maki refuses to join in on it
19. Hiro got the scar on his back from playing with raccoons when he was younger, he got along with most of them but sometimes they would attack him and he would cry because his friends hurt him
20. Hiro is Blasian, mom is from Japan and dad is African American
21. Tenko and Kiyo drive each other to therapy
22. Kiyo, Mikan, Toko, Mukuro, and Nagito all went to an inpatient together and had group therapy, they’re like a weird little family now
23. In this therapy family, Kiyo and Mukuro act most like siblings towards each other, Nagito is a very protective big brother, Mikan constantly fawns over the rest of them, and Toko likes to pretend they don’t exist because “they embarrass her”
24. Kyoko has a “Quote of the Day” book
25. Miu’s gaydar is absolute dogshit, she thought Rantaro was a straight man for a while
26. Maki loves accessories, but she is very embarrassed about it so she tries not to draw to much attention to it
27. She likes hair pins, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings, broaches, fancy hairties, scrunchies, fancy shoelaces, anklets, all that stuff
28. Most of her stuff is simple and silver, but she’s definitely gotten presents from the more observant people like Kaede, Kirumi, Rantaro, Ryoma, and even a ring from Kokichi (it’s a thin black and white striped band, but it was a peace offering from him so she wears it quite a bit)
29. Miu is scared of needles
30. Kiyo and Angie are best friends, it used to be just because Kiyo was fascinated by Angie but they ended up getting along very well
31. Chihiro knows tons of memes and is very into meme culture
32. Mondo used to go to plays and musicals with Daiya (they snuck in) and he is a very good actor because of post performance meetings
33. Mahiru loves taking photos of her friends
34. Izuru loves blankets and soft things
35. Kaito is scared of the dark and he has a bunch of glow in the dark stars and moons on his ceiling, he also has a bunch of stuffies (a lot of which have astronauts suits or other space things)
36. Ibuki has several younger siblings
37. Kokichi is an orphan and was at the same orphanage as Maki, they just never interacted much
38. Kokichi and Miu are friends, they just don’t seem like it to most people
39. No one from V3 kills bugs, they get Gonta to gently remove them from the premise (and sometimes he keeps them in his room)
40. Hiro has the self-assigned role of dad in their his friend group, he does cringey things like leaves messages in their lunch and talks as if he was like 20 years older than he is
41. Mikan’s stutter is from nervousness, but Toko’s is a real stutter
42. Fuyu is lactose intolerant which is why he hates milk, Peko never has anything with lactose in it because Fuyu can’t
43. This is actually why Peko got sick in chapter 1, she didn’t realize the food she ate had cheese in it and she was so not used to it so it made her stomach upset
44. Gundham isn’t vegan, but he is a vegetarian who pays very close attention to where he gets his food from. This is because he knows that many animals that have become live stock can suffer more if not used the way humans have bred them to. Also he knows that humans are omnivores and the circle of life just works like that.
45. Kyoko paints in her free time
46. Hifumi was bullied in school because of his looks which is why he got so into fandoms and fiction
47. Makoto and Komaru are impulsive huggers, Toko has been the most affected by this
48. Mahiru has a pet bird, maybe a duck or a chicken
49. Mahiru definitely goes to Gundham’s house with her bird
50. Kyoko is the rep for class 78, Chiaki is the rep for class 77, and Kirumi is the rep for class 80; much to Kyoko and Kirumi's displeasure, everyone just calls them the class mom
51. Yasuhiro is a vegan
52. Mukuro and the chicken are best friends
53. After Mikan gets a lot of therapy, she learns that her bullies actually caused her many permanent issues, such as slight deafness in her left ear, visual impairments, chronic back pain, and thousands of scars that didn’t get healed correctly (some of which were infected)
54. Celeste has a whip collection
55. Kokichi is a sugar addict
56. Hiyoko has like 6 cats, Mikan is heavily allergic to cats, Hiyoko loves when Mikan comes over because of this. Mahiru, not so much
57. Rantaro took in Shuichi as his little brother
58. Ahoges are meant to express emotions
59. During the tragedy Izuru saw the ROD as his children and took care of them (kinda-)
60. Kokichi’s whole personality was a lie in V3 and I’ll give my specifics for his real one. He’s caring to his friends and he’s very protective over his “family” (D.I.C.E.) he is very manipulative but he normally doesn’t use it for truly bad things, normally just pranks. He has trouble differentiating between reality and fantasy so he tends to be apathetic towards death. He’s super touch starved like he clings to people constantly. Also he lies less.
61. Kokichi got Kaito a fake plant as a prank once but he saw how happy Kaito was so he didn’t have the heart to tell him the truth, Kaito didn’t find out until Maki said something about it
62. Angie makes sculptures of her friends to bless them and to keep her company when she’s lonely
63. The WOH were informally adopted by Toko, Komaru, and Genocider
64. Yasuhiro has a candle collection
65. Izuru likes flowers, Kotoko would make him flower crown’s
66. Makoto has a bracelet with a 4 leaf clover in it that he wears for assessments and meetings for good luck
67. Hiro forces the THH survivors gang to do his daily prayers with him
68. Sonia and Gundham visit King and Queen Nevermind monthly and King Nevermind loves the Dark Devas of Destruction
69. Kaito is a feminist
70. Chihiro and Chiaki are siblings
71. Sometimes Chihiro helps Chiaki program mods for the video games she likes and it’s a fun sibling bonding experience
72. Tenko has done some serious work to get over her misandrist beliefs
73. Gundham, Sonia, Ryoma, and Peko all help at and make constant donations to many animal shelters
74. Classes 77 and 78 all went to Kotoko’s first performance after she felt comfortable enough to try out, this made her feel much less anxious
75. Same thing with all of the WOH, Jataro’s first diorama showcase and Masaru’s first game
76. Nagisa and Monaca don't really have any events they go to
77. Celeste has a music box that she uses to calm down
78. Ibuki and Ultimp are often questioned about whether they are dating or not and have to constantly say no
79. Sometimes class 77 holds big uno tournaments and Nagito or Chiaki always win and Fuyuhiko always flips the table
80. This actually reminds quite a few people that despite the fact Fuyu is small and looks cute he is extremely strong
81. Ibuki has heterochromia, her right eye is the pink we see in the game and her left eye is the blue of her hair streaks
82. Tsumugi will often copy sprite poses from the DR1 characters without realizing it
83. Souda and Miu and siblings, we know that their father wasn’t great but (I think) their mother wasn’t mentioned, so I’m using her as the explanation for all their sexual and romantic…creepiness?
84. Kiyo has the same disease as his sister but just a less intense form, he has a bad immune system and is very unfit
85. Mahiru takes lots of photos of Hiyoko dancing
86. Shuichi is sometimes a mannequin for Tsumugi (most often against his will)
87. Izuru would often stay with Nagito and the WOH
88. Rantaro goes to all of Kiyo and Angie’s meetings/outings/rituals to make sure it doesn’t get too out of hand
89. DR1 was Tsumugi’s favorite season without question
90. Genocider uses her hands a lot when talking, she also likes to play (literally) with her hair when she’s bored
91. Hiyoko loves playing ddr
92. Mahiru loves watermelons
93. Chihiro smells likes oranges because of a perfume he has been using for year’s
94. In the tragedy world, Class 77 all does something special for Chiaki as a memorial
95. Sonia loves strawberry milk
96. Mikan’s favorite animal is a bunny
97. Hifumi used to have a body shape more akin to Princess Piggles, but after years of using food as a coping mechanism and also it being a cheap way to sustain himself, he gained extra weight
98. Hifumi was very happy to see a strong character with his body type when he was younger, which is why he loves Princess Piggles so much (idk if this is canon or not but I figured I’d say it here just in case)
99. Sonia and Ibuki like to mess around with different clothing aesthetics
100. Rantaro brings Kiyo on trips and vice versa and they use it as an escape from the stress of life
101. Kiyo loves all of Rantaro’s sisters in a familial way and they really helped him gain a positive female influence
102. After Kiyo got out of the inpatient he used things he learned to help Rantaro with his depression since Rantaro doesn’t wanna go to therapy
103. Rantaro often helps Kiyo with feeling masculine
104. Komaru got glowing jewelry for her and Toko on their first date so then Toko can be less scared of the dark, Toko hates the jewelry but wears it because she loves Komaru (she tells her it’s just because of the dark tho)
105. Rantaro listens to Kiyo info dump for hours and pays very close attention, sometimes they'll even add some info that they've learned
106. Rantaro got Kiyo into the mental hospital and checked on him daily until he was let out
107. Shuichi finds mysteries kind of boring but likes romances, he’s very embarrassed about this but Kokichi teases him relentlessly
108. Maki got Shuichi and Kaito necklaces with a sun (for Kaito) and a moon (for Shuichi) for their anniversary
109. Kokichi is hardly ever not on Gonta, piggyback rides, sitting on his shoulder, swinging from his arm (he's worried Kokichi will fall off), etc.
110. Ryota and Imposter help each other with their eating disorders
111. Chiaki and Mikan take scheduled naps together
112. Tenko once threw like 20 people when she lost Himiko in a crowd
Nuerodivergent Headcanons:
1. Ibuki has ADHD, she needs stimulation mostly with her mouth, fingers, and hearing
2. Kiyo has autism
3. Genocider developed as a defensive alter, she loves Toko (in her own weird way) and pretends to hate her so Toko doesn’t get embarrassed or bullied
4. When Mikan gets depressive she braids her hair
5. Kokichi stims with arm flaps and jumping
6. Ibuki stims with hand flaps, spins, and tapping her arm/leg like she’s playing a keyboard
7. Kaito stims by hitting his fists or wrists together
8. When Akane gets bored in class she draws food on her body with a sharpie, this causes her to get scars and ink poisoning so Mikan sees her a lot
9. Miu has ADHD, hence her grotesque language (impulsivity) and her sensitivity to insults (RSD)
10. Kiyo fidgets with his necklace, which is why it’s there in the first place

14. Nagito likes when people play with his hair or give him head pats

16. Nagito has dermatillomania
17. Although Kaz is neurotypical, he only ever really spent time with Miu so he tends to miss some common social cues
18. Kiyo has one strand of curly hair bc he twirls it to stim when he’s focusing
19. Junko has DID, it was mostly repressed for all her life but during the tragedy she kinda let it out, however they’re all still developing and she’s still semi-convinced it’s because she gets bored of her personality
20. Taka has autism
21. Gundham has autism
22. Chiaki has narcolepsy
23. Along with everything else, Nagito has ASPD (anti-social personality disorder)
24. Kaito has ADHD
25. Shuichi has clinical anxiety
26. Kokichi has clinical depression
27. Tenko has (undiagnosed (“let us just send her to hit things, surely that will fix it)) ADHD
28. Rantaro has depression that was developed while trying to search for his sisters
29. Munakata has narcissistic personality disorder
30. Natsumi has ADHD that she’s been masking to try and be a better kid for her parents and brother (she doesn’t know that her brother doesn’t care)
31. She also has an inferiority complex, who would've thunk
32. Ryoma has depression, and he gets like 5 therapy cats, their named Chloe, Naru, Venus, Gangly, and Jo
33. Tsumugi has frequent identity crises
34. Gonta was diagnosed with autism at first but it was eventually shown that he simply didn’t know because he didn’t grow up with humans
35. Gonta does however have insomnia and when he wakes up from sleeping he will go play in the garden
36. Ultimp has binge eating disorder

So, that was really something wasn’t it? I bet no one was expecting all of that. @doctorbunny had been looking into all of that since our conversation on June 4.
All this from a simple inquiry- It must be surprising for those that weren’t expecting it. So, for the Mahiru lovers out there, how was it? What did you think? Is it doing super great? Is it heating up inside those heads of yours? If it isn’t yet, then how about going for seconds-
Let’s talk about ARGs! ARG is short for Alternate Reality Game. There have been many across the internet from Everyman Hybrid to The Cipher Hunt in 2016. I’d assume the Cipher Hunt is more well known. It was an international scavenger hunt attached to the American animated series Gravity Falls. Gravity Falls is a good example of ARG media overall.
A lot of the series involved breaking codes put after the end credits, playing sound backwards to uncover hidden messages, and of course taking it frame by frame to possibly discern what was coming next. This all culminated in the 2016 Cipher Hunt as a sendoff to an amazingly fun series that not only entertained viewers but prompted them to think more about how they consume and interact with media. That’s the point of every good ARG to give the audience a chance to interact with the media in a way that usually isn’t possible which allows the audience to feel like a part of the story as well.
They’re also really fun when it comes to scratching that deductive reasoning itch for those that really like to go in depth with their media consumption. When some say it’s not that deep, ARGs are there to resoundingly say not only can it be that deep, but it is. So, we’ve got the where from This Is How To Be In Love With You now let’s talk about the why?
Milgram, for all intents and purposes, can be described as an ARG. Many, like myself, concluded that the ARG aspects only went as far as our votes but it’s becoming more and more apparent that this is not the case.
Yamanaka said this in regards to Mu’s case,
“Mu-chan had a lot of specific scenes. Her character is also pretty different between her MV and her voice drama. How you interpret her character changes depending on how far you pursue this character. Even in the real world, for example with news stories regarding murder, you’d have very different opinions depending on if you just read the headline, vs when you view the whole thing, vs when you do more research on the person.”
Generally, one’s opinion of someone/something changes based on how informed on a topic they are. That is what I believe was the gist of what Yamanaka was getting at. To use Yamanaka’s example with news stories, the headlines of news articles are usually inflammatory and a reduction of the overall point of the article. This is because they seek to grab a person’s attention and give them as much information as possible in a very short span of time or as few words as possible.
In Milgram’s case, the MV’s would be the headline and the voice dramas would be the article.
However, articles aren’t that trustworthy either, news publications lie all the time and cherry pick information to better frame the point they’re trying to get across. Continuing forward with Yamanaka’s example in situations in which a murder is being reported, depending on the news outlet one could get very different framings of the situation. Be it a different framing of the victim or assailant.
This is something Milgram fans should be used to because a vast majority of them do it. It’s not much different from what many people have been doing with the Milgram theories they type up or put on YouTube. Each person displays their own unique perspective framed by their own ego and biases. So, we have the headline, we have the article, but what about that last thing?
“When you do more research on the person.”
Well, we have multiple examples of Milgram fans doing exactly that. The most recent one being the post DoctorBunny put out. It’s exactly what it says on the tin do more research compare the voice drama and the mv look out for inconsistencies key locations. Those are the ARG aspects that have been overlooked. Either for being too time-consuming, too wordy, or just going further than one expected.
It’s every fan that’s gone hey have you seen this tiny detail in this scene, please don’t bring up the socks in After Pain, hey um why did Kotoko go change clothes before going to help that girl, who’s that guy you can vaguely see in Kazui’s mv during that sort of distorted part, hey doesn’t this image resemble- and so forth and so on. That’s the doing your own research part that hasn’t been neglected per se, but it has been overlooked.
Each music video has enough information that for what may be detective work for people outside of Japan may come off as common place things or child’s play to people who live in the areas the prisoners were in before. Many people that live around where Mahiru is from probably would’ve been able to tell most of the places in her mv from a glance. See that’s the thing about common knowledge, it changes depending on where you’re at.
A good example of this is,
In the previous post DoctorBunny mentioned how I brought up the store Mahiru was outside of was a 7-Eleven.
I saw something that came off as commonsense to me, but that same thing won't be common to someone else. Not because they're uninformed but simply because it does not color their world view. It's not something they see every day so why would they be familiar with it? This is one of the reasons it's so enjoyable to see other people's opinions on Milgram from all over the world. Because those personal experiences shape how one will interact with the media.
Hell, a few years back I probably wouldn't have been able to tell it was a 7-Eleven myself, but I moved to a place right across the street from one so the colors in the corner and the outdoor setup were familiar.
This is why it's important to collaborate with others and discuss things because it can lead to new and interesting discoveries. I didn't really think I contributed much to the search since I was just around speculating stuff for the most part, but it was fun to be involved!
Now this may sound like a disadvantage for fans living outside of Japan, but it comes with its advantages. Because when someone is around something all the time it’s easier to take that information for granted. Chances are no one would really ask about why Mahiru was in these areas. After all these are everyday places, nothing special. They wouldn’t really take into consideration that these places are sort of tourist spots. Because there are a lot of places in the world that have a tourist industry but that doesn’t mean locals can’t enjoy the things connected to that too.
It wouldn’t clock as suspicious because honestly, it’s all rather normal right? People go places all the time, it’s no big deal. However, attaching these habits to that of someone we’ve explicitly been told is a murderer creates a different story. So, what does where Mahiru has been tell us about her as a person and a murderer?
Let’s start with the question that led to all of this where does Mahiru go to college? It’s not 800 degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria, the place she claims to be her university’s terrace. Although there is a possibility that they could not get a picture of the school to use and chose another location. However, there are many pictures of the campus online that they could have chosen.
I still can't fully rule out that they'd need certain permission to use that sort of image and couldn't get it.
Q.16: How did you meet your lover?
Shidou: In our neighborhood. We were family friends so that was our relationship.
Mahiru: We met eyes at the university terrace. I really felt like it was fate.
Despite all that- Mahiru's school is more than likely Aoyama Gakuin University or based on or around it. As DoctorBunny stated previously there were two schools in the area of the pizzeria.
The second one was Kokugakuin University. This school has no religious ties but seems to have some ties to Shinto beliefs. For those curious about the second school considering, it's a likely candidate for Mikoto's college. Here's its ratings, website, and a comprehensive history of the institution.
For brevity, I'll be putting both schools' information right beneath this. Mahiru's school will be first and Mikoto's possible one second. This serves a point outside of bringing up Mikoto again I swear.
20/07/15
Amane: Eh, my studies? I enjoy it. To me, studying is something I do for fun. Do you not think the same, Mikoto-san?
Mikoto: Not at all! It’s just a means to an end…… I just did the bare minimum needed to get into a good company. I actually went to an arts uni that had a pretty low subject requirement to enroll, and from there I studied curation and…… uhh, you don’t really know what that is huh. Hmm. Since your way of speaking is so mature, I keep forgetting I need to explain myself properly……
Amane: It’s fine. If there are any words I don’t understand I can look them up later. An arts university, though…… Does that mean you’re good at drawing, then? It may be a bit rude to say, but that’s rather unexpected.
Mikoto: No, not really…? I mean, I could do the bare minimum needed to pass the entrance exam though. Even though it’s called an arts uni, there’s still subjects where you don’t need to draw at all. I’m the sort of person who tries to be efficient, so I worked backwards from the job I wanted to get into and chose to study subjects like direction and management~ ……ah, I’ve done it again……
So, from this conversation we can gather a lot about where Mikoto went to college and it's shaping up to sound a lot like this place. So, good for him and his possible bachelor's degree. I say possible because he more than likely graduated at twenty-two and then got a job. So, if he started college immediately after graduating high school then that would be four years and he'd have a bachelor's degree.
However, like I said in those messages this ain't about him. Anyone with a keen eye would realize the difference in schools here. Mikoto's possible school has a 39% acceptance rate and that's a rough estimate because the school doesn't disclose its acceptance rate at all. Mahiru's on the other hand-
Whoa boy that's a smart girl a college with an 18.3% acceptance rate as of 2015 according to Google and it's not that much higher on the edurank website sitting at 19%. It's a Christian university private and in the top 50% in 13 subjects.
Notable subjects are
Physics Rank:
#42 of 274 In Japan
#222 of 1,879In Asia
#677 of 4,082 In the World
Engineering Rank:
#70 of 278 In Japan
#446 of 2,117 In Asia
#1156 of 4,624 In the World
It's a long list but most importantly-
Q.14 What was your major in university?
Shidou: Medical school.
Mahiru: Faculty of literature.
X
Q.04 Other than Japanese, what other languages can you speak?
Shidou: English and casual conversation level German.
Mahiru: I chose to learn Chinese in university but well... I don’t think I can go up to speaking.
"Die."
This is why Mahiru says she chose to learn Chinese because in her school English is mandatory.
I think this more than extensively proves that this is the school Mahiru was more than likely going to before being brought to Milgram. It's a rather good school overall. So, how much does a school like this cost?
Well, that's a pretty penny. A semester there in the spring time of 2019 would run a person 759,100 jpy or 5,241.06 USD. Either way this would be a difficult amount to pay on her florist job alone and she states this-
Q.15 How much do you earn?
Shidou: That’s not something you should ask other people.
Mahiru: I’m living on an allowance from my family……
So, it's safe to say the ones footing the bill for her schooling are her parents. Unlike Futa who complains about his classes saying,
"Storm Pazuzu (=Futa) A L L M Y C L A S S E S A R E S O D U L L.
W A S T E O F M Y S C H O O L F E E S.
Storm Pazuzu (=Futa) Everyone else there is an idiot so it’s boring"
Mahiru is never shown complaining about the cost of her tuition and with a semester price that high well she should be. This coupled with,
Q.05 Did you have a good relationship with your family?
Shidou: Yes. It really was a family as happy as you could dream of.
Mahiru: I think I was what they call a "sheltered girl". I'm thankful to my mom and dad, but perhaps they were a little strict.
Q.17 Tell us about your dating history.
Shidou: I don't remember much but, I had one girlfriend in kindergarten, and in elementary school I had two relationships. I started going out with my wife in the 2nd year of middle school, and we've been together ever since.
Mahiru: I attended a girl's middle school and a girl's high school, so I didn't date anyone until I started university.
From discovering Mahiru's school we've discovered several things. Her family is financially well-off, probably not as well-off as Mu's but maybe around the same area. Given the similarities in upbringing that Milgram has felt necessary to drag to the forefront in regard to these two characters this trial.
Her parents were overprotective, maybe a bit smothering. So, as a kid Mahiru more than likely didn't have much room to go out on her own and experience certain things such as dating.
We've learned that she chose to learn Chinese but more than likely does know English given this school's curriculum. Something that was heavily alluded to throughout "I Love You" not only through the song but the cd casing as well.
Look at her nice english/romaji handwriting of her name in comparison to the others. What nice penmanship!
"Clothes Food Shelter + Love and Miss you." - "Clothes Food Shelter - Love and Miss you."
Let's get subtracting, shall we?!
What do I mean by that well let me explain. Notice anything weird about the words inside the cd case?
Clothes food Shelter + Love and Miss you.
Certain words have been left in lowercase. Also, English is a very fun language where certain symbols have double meanings. The "+" symbol has been used to supplement for "and" just like "&". This is possibly yet another ARG element. To be precise, a code that Mahiru has put into her song. A fairly simple one at that. She tells us how to solve it within her song lyrics. Yep, that's why I highlighted those plus and minus signs. Basically, I believe we're meant to subtract the lowercase words from the uppercase ones to get the real message.
"Clothes Shelter + Love Miss. food and you."
This would basically be read as, "Clothes, shelter and love miss. Food and you."
When Star sent me the image of the cd case that was my first thought after hey why are some not capitalized. So, the next thing anyone would think is Gunsli that makes zero fucking sense what does that mean? Oh, but it does make sense. Let me run it down for you. However, for that we're going to have to go all the way back to This Is How To Be In Love With You.
Where we see Mahiru go through her hierarchy of needs just as she lists here.
"Clothes, shelter-
"Do you really think you know what love is? If you do, let’s just overheat together the things that I only want to say to you, and the things that I want from you- Is love."
and love-
"If you don’t hug me, even our hearts will start drifting apart. I pretended to be a good girl, but really, I don't want to say "I'm ok"."
Then with I Love You added into the mix,
"My love, it scored an own goal, destroyed my love and me with its weight."
miss."
And that's a miss folks! An own goal is a term used in soccer or football to describe when a team scores in their own goal.
"Own Goal noun- (in soccer) a goal scored inadvertently when the ball is struck into the goal by a player on the defensive team."
In contrast, who's the one that has always been associated with food-
"Food and You." - "Tell me, oh tell me why, can’t I just do it right."
20/06/08
Mahiru: Shidou-san…… you’re really good-looking. Personally, I think you’d be better if you ate a bit more, but you’re slim and tall, and well put together to boot…… You must’ve been super popular up until now, right?
Shidou: ……yeah, that’s true…… I did my share of fooling around in the past.
Mahiru: Oh~? That's not the sort of answer I'd expect from you. I've got it! Somebody told you that if you replied like that people wouldn't resent you as much, right?
Shidou: Haha, I’m surprised you guessed. ……it seems that no matter what guise I put on, it’s meaningless against a woman’s insight.
Mahiru wants some meat on those bones~ Well, everyone has a type, and he was looking rather thin before she started feeding him.
Go on eat that up, it's good for you! That's all I could really gather from that though. However, it's a fun little tidbit if true.
Now the second point of interest I wanted to discuss from the information gathered was The Imperial Palace Run.
WHOA BOY THAT'S AN ATHLETIC GIRL!
One Lap is Five Kilometers (3.1 miles)
The distance of the route is just the right length for running. The path is also beautifully paved and there are no traffic lights at intersections, so you can run without breaking your pace. There are slight hills in about three sections of the course. These moderate ups and downs will create a satisfying change of pace during your run.
X
The Imperial Palace Runing Route is a five-kilometer route that loops back in on itself. In the video provided in DoctorBunny's post the area Mahiru is running in the opposite direction of is at the beginning of the run. Basically, runners start running in the direction of the sign she is running away from. As she is running away from it this means Mahiru has completed at least one five-kilometer run.
Given the lack of people Mahiru and her love probably went in the morning which is the recommended time for runners to go to not disturb others and be able to run as fast as they like. This explains why the sidewalk is mostly empty. However, runners are still encouraged to run in a straight line together and not side by side to be considerate of others. This explains why he is not next to her as she is running behind him.
I don't know about you but running for three miles over hilly terrain doesn't sound like being bad at exercise to me. Mahiru also says,
"I've never run so much in my life."
So, they very well may have done multiple laps around the area. However, it can at least be safely discerned that Mahiru has finished one lap around. So, she gets to beat the stupid and weak allegations today good for her or bad depending on your point of view. Because you know what this means, right?
"How could weak little Mahiru, someone who could only complete a five-kilometer run, ever move a body", is beginning to sound really weird. It's not surprising that Mahiru would say she's bad at exercise. Mahiru has consistently stated she's bad at everything, it doesn't mean it's true. She just lacks self-confidence and repeatedly diminishes her own abilities. Most recent example,
Q.15 Have you contributed to society?
Shidou: I had thought my work was a contribution to society.
Mahiru: I don’t think that there’s anything that I can say with confidence.
Discussing Mahiru and looking into all of this was a lot of fun! I was happy that I could be helpful! I really didn't know how much I helped until the post was put up. To me it just felt like hanging out but ya know in a good way considering certain revelations that may not have been the best phrasing ha, ha...
I was really impressed by all the creative methods DoctorBunny searched for information and I never thought such a small inquiry would lead to so much. I feel like we've learned so much about Mahiru and a little bit about Mikoto along the way~
I hope my insights on this can be enjoyed as well as I've kind of been holding off on saying anything for a good while now. I also hope I didn't rush DoctorBunny into posting too much. Also, I would recommend looking up walking around videos on YouTube of your you may be pleasantly surprised by what you find. The running route one kind of dropped me down the rabbit hole and I ended up looking up some for my city just to see what they were like.
They're calming.

And here's one with Weak for Fuuta and Amane, for anon! I've recently been going crazy over some ideas from posts about Fuuta and food and he and Amane's relationship, and they came together perfectly with the prompt -- thank you for the request 👀👀👀
“Can you be quiet for one minute?”
Fuuta spun around from where he’d been complaining loudly about the food, with his mouth full of it, to find Amane glaring from beside him.
“I’ll do whatever the hell I want,” he said through bites. He paused to swallow, though. And take a sip of his drink. And then forgot was he was talking about anyway.
Amane returned to mouthing a blessing over her food. The annoyance in her expression melted away to serenity as she brought her hands together. Fuuta watched as she drew herself up. Then she ate calmly. He could have crumbled in shame, right then, at the thought of this tiny kid holding up better than himself.
She, too, had experienced the punishments that came with their verdict. Restraints pulled so tight it’s hard to breathe. Long nights of maddening voices and watchful eyes. The smaller meal portions leading to shaky limbs. Fuuta spent every meal inhaling as much as he could as soon as he could -- and here Amane sat as if she had a perfectly content stomach. Through everything, she maintained her strong gaze and commanding voice.
Fuuta reminded himself she did have a few advantages over him. She still had all her eyes and ribs intact, for one. It was difficult to give someone a convincing stinkeye with only one eye.
While he continued shoveling down his meal, he noticed her separating things on her plate. The meat in the corner went completely untouched.
The aforementioned treatment had made him irritable -- more irritable than usual, that is -- and he jabbed his utensils at her. “Hey, we talked about this. Eat your fucking meat. I’ve been eating my vegetables, yeah?” Not that he wanted to. He would have eaten just about anything they put in front of him if it kept the gnawing hunger at bay.
“It’s against my beliefs,” she said simply.
“I thought suicide was, too.”
She raised her chin. “I’ve known plenty who have fasted and become stronger for it. This is nothing drastic.”
Fuuta grit his teeth. He’d witnessed his fair share of internet-goers who acted cruel about another’s religion. He wasn’t about to join them in being some piece of shit who forced her to do something that was against her code. But there was no way he was going to sit around and watch her starve herself, either.
He couldn’t blame Amane for how harshly she’d refused help from the others -- they coddled her, encouraging her with sweet talk, or tried an insufferable stern parental tone. Fuuta wasn’t cut out for any of those methods, anyway. What he did know how to do, however, was make threats.
Even if Amane didn’t fear death, he knew there was one situation she would do absolutely anything to avoid.
“Oi, if you get any weaker, Shidou’s gonna step in.” Her frown twitched. “He’s already harassed me and Mahiru about our meals. He saw my hand shake one time and hasn't stopped hounding me about it since. The minute he can tell you’re not eating enough, he’ll be all over you. And let me tell you, you’re not very subtle about it.”
The final statement came out with more bite than intended. Maybe he was bitter that she was at least more subtle than him. Maybe he thought it was fucked up the way she, too, had grown visibly weaker. Maybe he was just hungry and tired of talking. He attacked another mouthful of food.
Amane was searching her plate as if the answer could be found there. There was a long silence as she contemplated. Fuuta had thought he’d won until she shook her head. “No. I can’t.”
He rolled his eyes and head in an over dramatic show of exasperation. “So stubborn!” When he was done chewing, he picked up his plate. “Fine.” He gathered up all that was left, dumping it onto hers with a flick.
A fire ignited in her gaze. She shoved the dish away. “I’m not some weak child to be pitied.”
“Wha–? It’s not pity!”
“You think I’m weak.”
“I think you’re hungry!”
“You don’t know anything!”
Mikoto passed by, chuckling as they raised their voices. “Look at you two hotheaded kids. Do I need to break it up?”
“Go away!” they chorused.
“Alright, sheesh…” He kept walking, leaving the pair to stew in silence.
Fuuta didn’t have it in him to fight today. He was tired. He ached all over. If she wasn’t going to appreciate his help, so be it. He was starting to get used to his good intentions being taken the wrong way. It looked like he was just the weak one, after all. He grabbed his empty plate and stood to leave.
“Fuuta.” Amane took a deep breath. “I am hungry.” She gestured for him to come back. Then she moved the meat from her plate onto his.
He eyed the offering, hoping his expression didn’t betray how desperately he wanted to scoff it down. “I’m not some asshole who’s gonna take your food.”
“You’re not taking it. I’m giving it. I would have thrown it out otherwise.” Amane picked up some of the vegetables. “In return, I will eat this. We both must stay strong for the ordeals ahead.”
After a moment of hesitation, Fuuta sat back down. He took a bite. Neither said a proper thank you. Neither needed one.
He glanced to Amane with a smirk. “Good. This way, we’ll both keep that geezer Shidou away.”
It was only for a moment, but for the first time since the second trial began, Fuuta could have sworn her lips slipped into a small smile.
#milgram#fuuta kajiyama#amane momose#oh yeah it also references that minigram/timeline about her not eating meat and him not finishing his vegetables#the fuuta/food one was from a bit ago but its been in my head again after his timeline convo making sure haruka was eating#thank you for the request ahh this was so much fun :D#ive had so many amane thoughts with purge march coming up - and its always a good day to get emotional over fuuta dsfdsfds#i always thought their timelines were really interesting with how calm she is and how completely wracked with anxiety he is#i think hed be pretty aware and ashamed of that#rip mikoto but i needed to show that they find kinship in being treated younger than they want because of their age+attitude 😂#i picture a very sibling relationship for them#you dont really coddle your younger siblings the same you would with other kids#so they have a lot of respect and also frustration towards each other...#i actually think fuuta has a lot of respect for shidou too but can lean into his annoyance for amanes sake#ahh ty and i hope you enjoyed!#like i said this one was a lot of fun to write omg#drabbles

And with Dangancember starting I have to say two things, firstly happy birthday Mod. I kinda feel for the people who are born in December since due to Christmas, I feel a lot of their birthday gifts are held off until Christmas. Source: Family members of mine who are also born in December.
And now we get to 2-3, widely considered one of the worst canon cases in the franchise. This has been debated, analysised and deconstructed by many for almost a decade now, with many wild takes. You cover the main points why people hate this chapter; the Despair Disease being kinda BS, the lack of character agency, Hiyoko being overlooked and the Mikan plot hole. However I do want to inject my own insight and some stuff that others have talked about.
Firstly the whole "Hiyoko was meant to be a survivor and Fuyuhiko was a Chapter 3 death but it got changed at the last minute because Kodaka felt it would make Peko's sacrifice hollow" is actually a complete lie. This was never said by the developers and it was a false rumour that started on a South Korean forum with no source behind it. Its probably the biggest misconceptionn the Danganronpa fanbase has as a large chunk of it, including me at one point, used to believe it.
I do think Ibuki needed to die in Chapter 3 because of the whole "Shoo Out The Clowns" the trope where as things get more serious, the more comedic and light-hearted characters would either get more solumn moments or just be killed off entirely to make way for the future plot points. And since Ibuki was the main source of happiness on Jabberwock Island, she needed to be killed off. But I do think Hiyoko should have survived past Chapter 3 because her development was more of a slow burner when compared to Fuyuhiko who does a complete 180 on his personality. It would be interesting to see how she reacts to Mikan being the culprit, the Funhouse and learning she has a growth spurt.
So if we can't shake off the whole double killers, then who takes Hiyoko's place? A lot of people suggest Sonia under the logic she doesn't do anything in the plot, and her death would turbocharge Kazuichi's and Gundham's character development. Heck you wouldn't even need to change the plot all that much, just have Sonia go to get the mirror from the Music Venue to help Hiyoko tie her Kimono on. But this never sat right with me as it sounds a lot like fridging. So my logic has been to have Kazuichi killed off as like Sonia he also really doesn't do anything post Chapter 3, the best I can think of is him coming up the plan to catch Nagito in Chapter 5 but someone else could have also done that easily, such as Fuyuhiko or Hiyoko for example. But my main reason is that the DR2 survivors all have in common the theme of loss. Fuyuhiko lost Peko his childhood friend and someone he was developing feelings for, Sonia lost Gundham a person who she felt understood her as a indivivual, Akane lost Nekomaru her coach and the one who taught her to be the best she can be, and while everyone was devestated by Chiaki's loss, Hajime was the most effected by it as she was always by him no matter what. And what about Kazuichi? He...needs to learn to stop being a coward...doesn't really have the same ring to it. But if Hiyoko was there then she would have lost Mahiru, the one person who tried to understand her and teach her that not everyone on the island is out to get her.
Regarding the Despair Disease while I haven't really gotten into Instagram Fanganronpas, I have heard that Ronpa and Friends, the Mickey Mouse Fanganronpa brings back the Despair Disease for its Chapter 3, but its done in a better way since rather then be a random virus, its discovered it was caused by auditory hypnotic mind control caused by the morning announcement. And rather then radically change people's personalities, like real life hypnosis, it removes any filters the victims have so they are behaving what they truly are deep down, and nothing they do is against their moral code. Honestly if the canonical Despair Disease was like that, then it would be very interesting as aside from the fact having it being a auditory hypnosis makes this way more believable to the player, and also how Monokuma can turn it off so easily, but it means that nothing the characters do is something they wouldn't do as its who they truly are deep down.
I also see it as foreshadowing for the purpose of the Killing Game since this is when the motives become far less fair and more about just making sure bodies drop as AI Junko's motive is to have everyone killed off so she can possess their bodies. As such this shift from temptations to things to guarantee deaths, is more hinting towards that. And the plot hole could easily be patched up if Chiaki was still sleepy and Hajime had to really search for other people to wake up so they could go to the music venure or heck make it so it takes longer to get from the motels to the music venures. Both of those fixes would stop people from questioning how tf Mikan was able to do this. Or maybe have a scene in Chapter 3 where its revealed Mikan's clumsy behaviour is just a act she puts on to make people notice her and in reality she is a lot more nimble then others think.
Any of those changes could have resolved the plot hole. And also don't have it so Mikan just outright spells out critical information which just makes her look even more sus. Yes I'm talking about the Monomi bag there, that was a really dumb move on Mikan's part. As I do believe Mikan going crazy was a reason why LINUJ was thinking of making Kanata into a psycho originally, to hark back to Mikan before he had a change of heart and made her wholesome. And I am forever grateful for that.
Another issue with the Monokuma Theater play? It was completely forgetable as before you brought it up, I completely forgot this was a thing in the chapter which shows how little of a impact it has overall to the case in general. Even if it was a red herring, at least make it so Mikan was trying to throw people off with it and not be something completely pointless.
There's a reason we talk about Chapter 3 syndrome in Danganronpa games because like Ace Attorney, its normally where the plot is at its weakest. And even the "best" Chapter 3, which its really obvious what that is since we have covered all the others, has its own issues.
And lastly Mikan's execution sucks balls. Like...what on earth was going on there? It had no reference to her talent, it had no reference to her personality, it was just the most wtf thing I have seen. At least if you are gonna do a execution, make it so it actually fits the character in question. I'm actually surprised you didn't touch on the execution in all fairness, but let's face it, among the many things wrong with 2-3, Bye Bye Ouchies is the least of your worries.
Its not a case where you scream at the game on why it exists like the Dishonourable Mentions, but its still a very, very weak chapter, which did require some more fine tuning and cooking in the oven before it came out. Its all well and good setting up for future plot points but you need to have it make sense in the actual narrative at the time.
The good news is that we start at the bottom so things only get better from here.
//Okay, so here's my breakdown of all of this.
//First off: Thank you for the bitthday wishes. And yeah, it is a bummer, but as I've gotten older, it doesn't really bother me anymore. 22 years of living on this earth and I fail to really get excited or in a celebratory mood about my birthday. It's fine though.
//Second, in regard to the misinformation about Fuyuhiko and Hiyoko, thanks for clearing that up for me. Honestly, I'm learning a lot more about the Danganronpa series lately that I didn't know before now. Guess this is just part of it, but thanks for the clarification.
//However, for my third point, what I'm about to say might sound a little bit indelicate. About the Shoo Out The Clowns trope being the reason why Ibuki had to be killed.
//I'm sorry, but that's complete bullshit.
//And it's proven as such to me by your very own analysis here on how Hiyoko should have been a survivor.
//Danganronpa 2's surviving group consists of Hajime, Akane, Fuyuhiko, Sonia, and Kazuichi. And THREE of those five characters primarily fit into the cast as COMIC RELIEF characters. All different forms of it, but the point stands.
//And okay, even not counting Sonia, Akane, and Kazuichi, look at the surviving group of Danganronpa 1. Two of the characters that survived that game were Hiro, and Toko, who is also Genocide Jack. You know, the two most stupid and bonkers characters in that game?
//Killing off Ibuki with the excuse that she would ruin the tense atmosphere of the final few trials is complete and utter nonsense because other comic characters made it to the end of the game in all three mainline Danganronpa games, and did their usual BS in those trials, and yet it didn't affect my overall mood of the trial, or the mystery, or the emotions that were felt.
//Also, in regards to how Hiyoko's development was more of a slow burn, while Fuyuhiko's was a very sudden 180; while I do agree with that, I think it does ultimately make sense that Fuyuhiko had his sudden turnaround.
//With them both being bratty half-pints that come from influential families, Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko do actually have a lot in common beyond being the characters who (almost, in Hiyoko's case) develop post-Chapter 2. The difference however is that Hiyoko is ride-or-die on her bullshit, and has been raised in an environment where she thinks its okay to treat herself like she's better than everyone, wheras Fuyuhiko has clearly never vibed with that idea, is far more honorable than he initially comes across, and only acts tough because he's afraid to let his family down, or come across as weak to Peko.
//And sure. These ideas that you have could maybe have made the trial and the game more interesting. Allowing Hiyoko to survive while someone like Sonia or Kazuichi, who had less impact on the story in the end, to take her place as the victim might have been better. Also, the idea that Kazuichi could be replaced by Hiyoko as a survivor because she, like the others, was carrying someone's will. ALSO, the idea that Hajime's attempt to get help could have been dragged out to fix the plothole.
//But you're missing the point. These are what COULD have happened, not what ACTUALLY happened. THIS is what actually happened, and it sucks. We can talk about what could have happened all the live long day, but the fact is this is what we've got, and this is what we'll always have.
//As a couple of side notes as part of this paragraph, I haven't actually seen Ronpa and Friends, but I have several accounts from people who have seen it, and all of them think it's one of the best Fanganronpa's ever. I fully believe that, because Penguinronpa was a similarly silly concept, yet ended up being phenomenal, so maybe I'll check it out one day myself.
//And also I know we can complain about this later when we get to the Another and Another 2 cases, but goddamnit, WHY, of all characters for LINUJ to base his writing on, does it have to be the CHAPTER 3 culprits!? All three of them suck ass one way or another, and even though Mikan is the best of them in my opinion, they're all so cartoonishly villainous and ridiculously evil that it really takes you out of it.
//But yeah, you don't know how happy I am that Kanata turned out not to be evil like Mikan was.
//And lastly, I'm sorry if I didn't clarify this before, but I'm actually not going to take the executions into account. The executions themselves belong on a seperate list that I've already done. As far as I'm concerned, this list is specifically looking at the cases and the trials, which covers the death, the investigation, and the trial. The executions are just the conclusion at the end of all this stuff, and they do not affect my opinion on the mystery itself, for better or for worse, so I will not be talking about them. Although, I do agree that Mikan's execution is very poor.
//Although this is not universal. I WILL be talking about the executions, but ONLY if they serve a significant importance on the narrative, which usually, they don't. If I can give you an example, Kaito's execution would count as part of the trial for me, because it's very important to the narrative and the sequence of events in Chapter 5 and 6 of V3.
//But yeah, the sad thing is I do want to like this trial, because it has some good stuff that I feel goes overlooked, and Mikan is LEAGUES better a killer than Kiyo is.
//But the notion that this trial is just poorly structured and has so many bad logistics is unfortunately super fair.

That last post you made suddenly made me remember why I dislike sloth pair and greed pair shipping so much before I actually read the manga (I had only watched the anime at the time). Fanon sloth pair felt off like those sitcom couples where the husband is the lazy "breadwinner" while the wife is the all purpose house minister, which doesn't embody the actual sloth pair. Fanon greed pair had a dynamic that was grating on my nerves, Licht was just weird kid with no common sense while Lawless was other weird kid who thinks taunting the other is the best way to show love (Also you can't tell me Lawless is the dominant one in that relationship which was fanon). The manga made me have a better appreciation for the sloth pair and greed pair but good grief did fanon do them dirty. Funnily enough, I started shipping Lawhiru because of fanon so maybe this rant is actually hypocrisy on my part. Anyways sorry for dumping in your inbox.
yah like kuro would feel guilty being on the receiving end all the time honestly, it's not like he's lazy necessarily because he enjoys not doing anything it's more like a symptom of his depression and he hates himself for it also people aren't making mahiru a jock enough
meanwhile licht's treatment in the fandom is egregious because he's a denpa character and people are used to denpa characters not having any nuance, but servamp is all about taking in popular anime tropes and subversing it (i could also say something about people's treatments towards autistic-coded character but because that's not a confirmed canon i'll refrain)
anyway people making lawless dom licht is like. do you think licht will allow that. do you think licht jekylland "the bedroom is a competition and im winning" todoroki would allow that

seeing Milgram OC and sona stuff on The Dash has given me the courage to share/work on my own...
I had come up with his general concept like a few weeks ago now actually.. but seeing others share has given me new found motivation to continue working on My Boy.
his name is Murakami Masashi (村頭 政志), but that could change idk.
村 = village, town 頭 = head 政 = government, politics 志 = plan, aspiration, ambition, goal (etc)
I recreated the chart thing for him that's at the bottom of all the official character profiles.
(Gender: Male; Age: 24; Height: 177cm; Blood type: O; Birthday: December 19)
his assigned color is a dark grey with a slight blue-ish hue. no exact hex code for now.
now time to dump random stuff for him ig!
T1 Character Voice (Static):
"I... hope you'll be a bit luckier in your next life."
T1 Voice Drama lines:
"Murakami Masashi, 24 years old. It's nice to meet you."
"It's quite nice here, I have to say. It's like a giant puzzle. Though I do miss having the freedom to go outside..."
"Ahh, so you're pretty inexperienced in this, huh?"
"Hmm, just how much am I willing to share, I wonder... Hey, don't look at me like that. Fine, I'll try to humor you. To answer your question, law enforcement aren't the only people who conduct interrogations. ...You're giving me the same look."
T1 Interrogation questions:
I tried to create my own little interrogation question cards. if my Japanese has mistakes (which it certainly does), no it doesn't <3. enjoy the beautiful placeholder portrait and also my janky-ass Japanese handwriting!
Q1: What's your current occupation? A: Oh very funny!
Q3: Family? A: Just my father and I.
Q5: What do you think about your family? A: I have no opinion. Well... I guess my father can be a bit troublesome.
Q8: What's something that's more painful than death? (thanks Shidou/Mahiru for this one) A: Aren't there a lot of things? It'd be impossible to write them all down.
Q14: Hobbies? A: Logic puzzles and origami maybe...?
misc stuff:
he speaks very formally and uses the first-person pronoun "watashi" (私). watashi is gender neutral, but it can sound a bit stiff or feminine when used my men in non-formal settings.
he'd get a pretty heavy guilty verdict in trial 1 due to a lot of misinterpretation of what was even going on lol. most of the innocent votes for him in trial 1 would probably be for stuff like "he's hot though", "but hes funny", "ok but his song fucks", etc.
for trial 2... an innocent verdict but it'd be very close.
his trial 1 cover would be We The Hostages maybe?? then his trial 2 cover would be Aimai Elegy.
ok i will now post this before the social anxiety comes in with the steel chair
#OCgram#OC: Masashi#maybe ill try to draw an actual portrait of him soon#not now though. its 5:30am--#he doesn't have a very interesting design anyway.#hes supposed to not stand out too much#i really need to practice writing Japanese lmao...#its honestly pretty fun. i just am bad because i never do it#oh god the social anxiety is coming. i need to post this quick--

SakuMahi robot AU please
The au asks got buried 💀
Thankfully I still remember what this is about jfhgdk
For this kind of au... I'm not actually very familiar with this one! I don't read much mech/robot stuff, but here goes
Sakuya: A "faulty" android missing most of his memory data and searching for the last link he has to his past. The last thing he can recall before terminal shutdown was a young woman, grease and bloodstained (oil? Is that his oil? Is he dying? He shouldn't have a concept of that, but he does) promising to return with help for him. This single fragment of memory doesn't return to him until a few months post refurbishment by a young mechanic who... Isn't particularly skilled with the technical side of things when you ask him to explain what he's doing, but the results of letting him work speak for themselves. Can't remember his own function, whereabouts, or model series. Assumed to be recent by most of the cast due to his capabilities and uncanny resemblance to human function. Not particularly user friendly lol, either in his personality once that bit of coding kicks back on, or in his schematics. Clearly meant for complex function just from a cursory look at his internal workings, yet even that doesn't account for the advanced emotional function Sakuya showcases. Mahiru considers him a lucky, almost miracle find. Everyone else, Sakuya included, wonders what's wrong with him that such an advanced machine was seemingly left to decay among scrap and trash. It's easy to forget he's not human.
Mahiru: a mechanic who believes getting the job done is more important than looks, and spends a lot of him time repairing old and outdated machines (both for himself and for others who have formed an emotional bond with their robots. For these customers, even though he's not super particular about the appearance of his own machines, for others, he'll go the extra mile with making sure they look like the familiar and well loved friends people know them as). He's got a gentle and delicate touch and even finicky hardware seems to sing for him. He understands it's strange to feel affection for things that can't return it, but he doesn't care. Often ends up making a secondary portion of food for Sakuya despite his new companion not being able to eat. He seems to appreciate the thought at least? His naming sense is extremely rudimentary, which is how he landed on "Sakuya" for the junked out android he found and brought home. Something about the forlorn expression on the facial mold wouldn't let him leave it be, and after finding the cherry blossom pattern where a model number should have been, the name was chosen in an instant.
In the end, Sakuya isn't an android at all, but a modified combat cyborg with a human soul integrated into his circuitry, which accounts so the disparity between what he's supposed to be capable of, and what he actually showcases. A last ditch effort by a sister to save her brother, the woman he's been searching for with Mahiru's help has long been dead... And after that there's government conspiracies to be dealt with, of course, as they attempt to seize this new weapon and possible key to immortality to figure out what makes their own efforts of combining human and machine a failure, while Sakuya is an abject success who retains full cognitive function, while others attempting the same transplant all see their efforts deteriorate into something horrific and unrecognizable from the subject's former self.
Basically this is War Crimes: robot love edition lmao

Y’know I wonder what happened post game with everyone who died, like did they manage to save them? What was it like? Were they still in despair or did they see these versions of their friends that are getting better but still clearly horrid? And what would they think of Izuru?
And, what would the process of reviving them even be like? They’re still recovering from despair, right, so….
I imagine Kazuichi would be the most eager to start working just to ignore the despair he feels. Sonia may take on somewhat of a leadership role since even if she claims to be nothing more than a figurehead, she’s actually very smart and pretty assertive when she wants to be. Plus, she has a lot of emotional strength and would be able to stay strong even in such a terrible position, I feel.
Akane would also probably start working quickly since she’s kind of impulsive and wouldn’t take the time to consider the implications, nor why she wants to revive them so badly. She might have it at the back of her head, but she wouldn’t really unpack it until wayyyy later.
Fuyuhiko would definitely take a long time to really get into it. If I’m not mistaken, he and Peko were the only ones who knew eachother before hopes peak, so I imagine he would have a lot of weird feelings like: “I let Mahiru kill my sister, I am despair, why do I feel like this? Why do I want her to live so badly?” Or, since they’re at least on the right track by the end of the game, he may just be the one who’s most ready to unpack the things he did as despair. (And maybe slice his stomach open a second time)
Izuru…. I imagine he’d still be pretty sluggish and apathetic to most things and get bored easily, so while he would help a few times it would be in short bursts and few and far in between. Though, oddly enough, he feels this strange emotion watching them work towards this goal….. (it’s longing but he doesn’t know how to articulate that)
OHHHH‼️‼️‼️‼️ holy shit… this is So. you Get Them. I think izuru is definitely less motivated when you say “it’s to save people” but I also think he has it ingrained in his mind to complete any task set in front of him by someone telling him it needs to get done, so if Sonia just took a broken down task went “sort this out” he’d do it, but he’d never Quite go with the “help save everyone for Hope” idea. I also think izuru would be super averse to learning anything about the machinery and code that took their memories, but he’d absolutely never point out why, or when it’s too much, so the others all leave him out of theoretical discussions about what could be done, in case he freaks out. I don’t have too much to add about the others but I absolutely think kazuichi or akane would say some shit like “this’d be way easier with hajime here..” and the others would elbow them or glare at them and then glance at izuru but it’s never really actually addressed.
In terms of bringing the dead students back, the only way I can see it not just waking up the ultimate despair again is if they could all see the final trial and have almost ghost like memory stores, like a backup code monitoring procedure, but in terms of actual revival I don’t know how they could do it

Danganronpa Headcanons
General Headcanons:
Maki has several bird feeders, squirrel feeders, and just other foods left outside for animals. She refills these everyday
Himiko has dwarfism
Miu uses slurs because she doesn’t know the meaning behind them, she assumes it’s just another name for a group of people (she got corrected by Kaede and is now working on it)
When Kiyo thinks that someone “would be a good friend for sister”, he really means that he likes them and he thinks they would get along if he didn’t feel like he was cheating on his sister
Angie wishes her name was Angelica
Ryoma has the “Hang In There” poster
Kiyo wears anything as long as he’s covered, gender roles don’t phase him, only gendered terms
Kokichi knows morse code
Kaito and Shuichi have a “secret” handshake (it’s pretty simple and Kaito wants to use it everywhere), Maki refuses to join in on it
Hiro got the scar on his back from playing with raccoons when he was younger, he got along with most of them but sometimes they would attack him and he would cry because "His friends hurt him" (he is the reason his mom smokes /j)
Hiro's mom is from Japan and his dad is African American
Tenko and Kiyo drive each other to therapy
Kiyo, Mikan, Toko, Mukuro, and Nagito all went to an inpatient together and had group therapy, they’re like a weird little family now
In this therapy family, Kiyo and Mukuro act most like siblings towards each other, Nagito is a very protective big brother, Mikan constantly fawns over the rest of them, and Toko likes to pretend they don’t exist because “they embarrass her”
Kiyo and Angie are best friends, it used to be just because Kiyo was fascinated by Angie but they ended up getting along very well
Chihiro knows tons of memes and is very into meme culture
Mondo used to go to plays and musicals with Daiya (they snuck in) and he is a very good actor because of post performance meetings
Mahiru loves taking photos of her friends and has a three whole flash drives full of photos
Izuru loves blankets and soft things
Kaito is scared of the dark and he has a bunch of glow in the dark stars and moons on his ceiling, he also has a bunch of stuffies (a lot of which have astronauts suits or other space related things)
Ibuki has several younger siblings
Kokichi is an orphan and was at the same orphanage as Maki, they just never interacted much
Kokichi and Miu are friends, they just don’t seem like it to most people
No one from V3 kills bugs, they get Gonta to gently remove them from the premise (and sometimes he keeps them in his room)
Hiro has the self-assigned role of dad in their his friend group, he does cringey things like leaves messages in their lunch and talks as if he was like 20 years older than he is
Mikan’s stutter is from nervousness, but Toko’s is a real stutter
Fuyu is lactose intolerant which is why he hates milk, Peko never has anything with lactose in it because their home never had any
This is actually why Peko got sick in chapter 1, she didn’t realize the food she ate had cheese in it and she wasn't used to it so it made her stomach upset

Thank you for the commentary!
no one would speak respectfully to Amane in this state
Waaaaah
it really does feel like everything in the universe is against her.
*cries some more*
I ended up focusing on her tangible relationships rather than spiritual ones
And it worked out well!
she sees him in control of his fate she's feeling like she can control her own safety
Keep driving me into the ground, will you?
I love Shidou but he definitely needed to be painted very villainous in this.
Yes, sinister Shidou. Did you know "sinister" means "left" and Shidou is left-handed?
Oh hey do we know what color Ms Momose's eyes are? I figured green was a safe bet
Uh-huh. Wait what. Oof.
Mahiru, who always let other people stick to their beliefs and codes, is turning against her in her darkest moment.
I'll just... ah...
I was tempted to go into detail that technically Kotoko tried to offer a lesson,
I was going to tell you to stop giving me ideas, but then I remembered I already have "Simultaneous Attack". (And another sort-of normal AU in the drafts, but shhhh....)
This last line read "Unfairness" until literally two minutes before I posted asdfsd.
Well, talk about last-minute changes. It worked out quite well.
So, uh, may I request a director's commentary on your attack against me?
Why do you do this to meeee (and masterminding everyone else!!) Lol, well thank you for the ask regardless -- drabble is under the cut with my little commentary in pink!
“Amane, you must – please – !” Shidou’s voice changed from pleading to an icy calmness. “Kazui, hold her still.”
So uhh I made myself sad realizing that no one would speak respectfully to Amane in this state -- Shidou would either use a placating kid-voice or a completely detached doctor voice. Kazui and Mahiru would also be tempted to use a protective kiddy voice, or they just talk amongst themselves and not directly to her...
Amane struggled from his grasp, but there was no hope of success. Even if her little form stood a chance against Kazui’s strength, even if her uniform wasn’t locking her arms in place, she knew she would not manage to draw up any power with all this pain rocking through her body. Her chest stung so that she could hardly breathe. The throbbing from her right eye made her dizzy.
I'm pretty sure the pain would be so overwhelming that it would stop her on its own, but I wanted to point out that she has so many obstacles in her way -- it really does feel like everything in the universe is against her. I wanted to do a lot more with her relationship with her god in this piece (feeling like he isn't there because everything is against her) but it kept sounding detached from the action. I ended up focusing on her tangible relationships rather than spiritual ones
Through her spinning vision, she could see Fuuta nearby. She was struck with the selfish thought that she wished she couldn't. He looked awful. Shidou had rolled him over so he wasn’t lying facedown in blood, but it still clumped in his hair and over his eyes. His arm was stuck at an odd angle.
RIP FUUTA SORRY I INCLUDED HIM DIEDED 😭 Though I did include it to drive home the fact that at this point, even though we the audience knows he makes it, Amane is convinced this is the end for him.
“No,” she gasped. “Stop…”
It was unclear who she was commanding. Shidou? Fuuta? God? Maybe all at once.
She doesn't blame Fuuta per se, but this and a later line hint that she sees him in control of his fate. She was taught that life or death has nothing to do with medicine -- it's willpower and spirit -- so she's urging him to live as if it's something he can control for her sake. Similarly, she's feeling like she can control her own safety, as long as she makes god happy in these moments (which she currently thinks she's failing at by "letting" Shidou do his work)
The room wobbled as a wave of pain washed over her. Shidou’s hands were around her face. Though seeking her eye, he may as well have been covering her mouth with how suffocating it felt. Amane shook her head violently back and forth in an attempt to stop him.
I love Shidou but he definitely needed to be painted very villainous in this. Amane isn't one of his typical patients, and what would be really comforting to anyone else (speaking with calm precision, having strong and unshakable movements, reassuring hands offering care) is really traumatizing to someone who sees it as condemnation to hell :(
There was the ceiling – then Shidou’s face, far too close – a blood-spattered wall – Fuuta’s ginger hair caked in blood – the ceiling – intense gray eyes – the wall – a broken arm – ceiling – scowling lips – wall – ginger fur caked in blood – ceiling – a screaming mouth – blood-spattered floor – a paw bent the wrong way – ceiling – green eyes filled with fire –
Crazy about the cat parallels!!! She is reliving her dooming moment over and over again! She cannot escape her "mistake"!! She will forever be haunted by that day, and it's repeating itself a little too perfectly for her liking!! Oh hey do we know what color Ms Momose's eyes are? I figured green was a safe bet
A hand clamped down on her head to keep her still. Her vision swam. She released a cry of anguish. The others probably thought it was from the pain, but she knew how to bite her tongue through pain. No, this was utter frustration.
Obligatory reminder that she's used to physical abuse because I hate myself apparently. I also wanted to highlight that there's a big gap of understanding between her thoughts and everyone else's
Then came a glimmer of hope. An angel.
Mahiru stood over her. Amane only had so many people left in this world who treated her kindly, didn't lead her towards sinfulness... and weren’t beaten to death. With the recent turn of events, Mahiru may be the only one left.
Between the cat, her mother, and Fuuta, this girl has witness a lot of bloody beatings :( It's impressive she still likes cute things and has fun, colorful dreamscapes seeing how dark things have been to this point in her life
There was some arguing as Mahiru was told to leave, but she convinced the others to let her stay by Amane’s side. She smiled, though tears streaked down both her cheeks.
“It’s alright. I’ve got you. You’re safe now.”
That was it. Mahiru had been sent to save her. Everything would be alright.
Shidou’s tone was as cold as the disinfectant he was applying. “Tell her to hold still.”
Mahiru gave her a gentle nod. “Please, you have to listen to him.”
And just like that, the breath was knocked from her lungs. As quickly as her savior had come, she disappeared. Mahiru had turned against her, for the sake of that damned doctor.
Now Amane had nobody left in the world.
I'm still not sure if this part hit the way I wanted to, but at least writing it, I was struck with that gut-wrenching shock of betrayal. Mahiru, who always let other people stick to their beliefs and codes, is turning against her in her darkest moment.
She lashed out one last time before her injuries overtook her completely. Her adrenaline was receding.
“This is for your own good.”
It wasn’t.
She’d experienced things for her own good. When her mother punished her, she’d repeat the reason for it over and over. When her father brought down his wrath, Amane knew exactly why he was doing so. Her teachers would ask her, when they’d finished giving out their discipline, if she’d learned her lesson. It made sense. It was fair.
Trying to build up a painful dissonance between making the reader think "yeah, this isn't for her own good!! Please, stop doing this to her!! She's right!!" and being plagued with "oh god that wasn't for her own good either... oh... she's not right about that..."
There was no lesson here.
I was tempted to go into detail that technically Kotoko tried to offer a lesson, and drag the reader through all the awful things Kotoko told her while beating her up, but Amane wouldn't see that as a lesson, either, thinking she and Es are mislead. Including all that for no reason would have just ruined the flow of these paragraphs, but I was sad thinking of what she must have been yelling at Amane, much like her abusers...
One must work towards holiness. Amane had been working her whole life. She’d fought to learn from each punishment. She tried so hard to be good. But now, there was nothing to learn, nothing to strive for. There was nothing at all. Yuzuriha Kotoko was killing her, Kajiyama Fuuta was leaving her, Kirisaki Shidou was dooming her, Shiina Mahiru was betraying her, and there was absolutely nothing she could do.
Hopelessness was a trial all on its own.
This last line read "Unfairness" until literally two minutes before I posted asdfsd. I was worried it was too melodramatic to say hopelessness, but unfairness kept bugging me since it was SUCH an understatement 😭I figured it was better to lean into the drama than not do her pain justice. I was already drilling it in with that last paragraph summary, so I wanted to keep saying things exactly as they were.
