My dearest Witch, if you have spell vessels (like wards, amulets, talismans) that are running down every 1-2 weeks and you are fully recharging them with your personal energy, and subsequently you feel exhausted and have almost no energy for anything else,
you are not weak at magic;
I will bet you that you are choosing the nuclear option of high-octane megafuel supernova magic where you pump fast-burning, high-intensity energy into vessels likely not designed for long-term energy storage.
Because repeatedly exhausting yourself is not a good way to increase your magical endurance, I think it is likely that your spellcasting strategy has locked you into a cycle of near constant high-energy output with no reserves left over to undertake techniques that actually allow you to get stronger, nor any reserves left to build long-lasting magical vessels that conserve the power you give them.

Kitchen Witch Recipes: A Harvest Soup Ritual
Tumblr media
With this recipe, I use a different technique than usually applied to kitchen magic (where you apply an individual intention to each ingredient). Instead, the ingredients in our soup are stand-ins for the abundance/wins we have experienced over this growing season. This isn't so much a creation spell as it is an acknowledgment ritual.
As this recipe is written, we are using five main ingredients in this spell; to begin, you should sit down and determine five wins you have had over this harvest season*. These can be big wins like buying a house or getting a new job or smaller wins like getting outside to walk for your stupid mental health on most days. You will want to connect each of your five wins to one of our five ingredients: onion, celery, garlic, apple, and potato. This can be done arbitrarily or with intense purpose as you see fit.
*Whatever that means for you.
This ritual is quite simple. After you have set up your kitchen space as you like to for magic, you begin by becoming better acquainted with your ingredients. As I clean and prepare each of my five ingredients, I like to speak to each and talk about the win that they represent. I use my voice to connect my ingredient with the gratitude that I feel for what has gone my way. You can carve into your ingredients with a pairing knife to write out your win or use sigils during this time. If you do energy work, you can fill the produce with gratitude or your heart's energy. This is the main working of this spell and where you should be spending the most time.
Because we will blend this soup, you do not need to cut your produce into any particular-sized pieces. It helps to cut into equal-sized pieces, but this is unnecessary.
Note here: do your apples last if you are carving into your produce since they will oxidize and turn brown, which is unpleasant
From here, you can continue onwards to make your soup. You can add any kitchen magic here that you like to use in your practice. I like to stir my soup in a clockwise motion since this is a positive working, but this is, of course, up to you. I continue to speak words of gratitude over my soup as I prepare it and I thank each ingredient as I introduce it into my soup. Do what feels right for you here.
When it comes time to blend the soup together, say something like, "As I blend these moments of achievement together, I acknowledge how far I/we have come." As the soup is being served, I might say, "I serve up our past blessings to fuel me/us for future wins."
You will need:
1 Large Yellow Onion
2 stalks Celery
Garlic to taste (I used six to represent abundance)
2 large yellow or red potatoes (or 1 Russett)
2 large or 3 small red apples (pick the ones you like)
Herbs to taste (use what you have)*
A blender, immersion preferably
Salt, pepper
Cooking oil (I use butter)
4 cups Broth (vegetable or chicken) plus two cups water
Parmesan cheese (optional)
Heat oil, add all the produce except your garlic, and slowly cook on moderate heat until the onion is translucent, and the produce has reduced in half - this should take 10-15 minutes. Salt moderately during this step to bring out the flavors and cleanse your ingredients.
Add in your chopped garlic and cook until fragrant
Add in your spice, broth, and water, and bring to a boil
Decrease to a light simmer and cook for 30 minutes
Blend until smooth; Salt and Pepper to Taste
Top with parmesan if using, and serve with a crusty loaf of bread
I don't peel my produce for this soup, but you can do it if you prefer. If you like a chunkier soup, you can blend half of it and return it to the pot. I imagine a dollop of pesto would be amazing on top, but I haven't tried that yet.
*You can spice this soup in any way you prefer for a vegetable soup. My partner and I make a spice from our farmshare herbs (basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage, and savory) that is lovely on vegetables, so I use that. Any Italian blend will work. You can easily add additional intentions into this soup if you wish with your herb choice.
What I like about this ritual is that it is a great way to include other people who may not think magically in a ritual without it being too over the top. To include your entire household in this, you can choose 5 wins for your household and assign one to each ingredient. The carrots could be "Dad's raise" and the potatoes "Jimmy's Straight A's in Allegbra". If you are focused on your wins, the soup should be shared with you and your spirits; if you are focused on your family's wins, share it with the whole family.
This is, as usual, meant to be a starting point for a ritual - you should add your magic in any way that makes sense for your practice. You could adapt this idea by applying it to a different meal. I suggest using late-season/harvest ingredients for this, whatever you make, as that best aligns with this ritual's concept.
Do you like my work? You can tip me on Kofi.

Chapitre 226 - The Demon King and The Witch
Present day timeline continuing CONFIRMED
I’m thrilled that right after Evil Wolverine announces who they are (how he figured it out: unconfirmed) we get instant shocked faces from everyone else. And it’s a quick moment but IMAGINE
HOW
SHOCKING
THIS
MUST
BE
FOR
LAVA LAMP
How do you even begin to think about that. How do you even begin to digest that your dad is your clone and you’ve fought him and watched him die and watched your mother die more than once and woops they were your parents also the whole time - but not yet!
What a moment.
Kurogane’s shocked face is my favourite but a special reward goes to Fai for (as is customary) not actually being shocked at all. Showing that once again he figured this all out before we did.

What is Arthur teaching Dark?
Tumblr media
Mir Arthur is supposed to be teaching DMK the intricacies of advanced mirror magic, so that DMK can do cool things like his blade burst attack or split his reflection offensively in a fight like in the games, but there's a few problems that have come with it.
Mainly, Mir Arthur's knowledge of it is all theoretical.
Tumblr media
He's an illusionist, not a mirror mage, and while his illusion magic is similar to mirror magic, it's not a one to one match.
Tumblr media
DMK pretty much has to figure out how it all works on his own, and that's a lot harder when he despises practicing in the first place. He tries to skip lessons or weasel his way out of them when he can, though they're technically required by Dark Mind as a condition of him staying at the Mir GSA. DMK doesn't quite know that part though, but Mir Arthur does.

the thing about epic that drives me crazy is that all the songs have so many beautiful details laced into them. like. in odysseus towards the end you can hear the faint “NO”s of the suitors as they get killed. in scylla the switch between the enchanting persuasive voice of scylla to the rage-filled monstrous voice is just. magical. and just the way it’s been produced. the cuts between eurylochus’ sort of passive thought singing voice and then the speaking parts. like. idk if it’s the music tech nerd in me or just how insanely good all of these songs are.

ohhh you guys are reading bsd without suspending your disbelief. you guys are expecting to get a clear cut perfectly understandable scientific explanation for something that can't actually happen in the real world, and then you're upset when you don't get it. you're forgetting that bsd has always had fantastical elements in it and it is not meant to be a 1:1 replication of Our World. you don't have to know and understand every single scientific concept being talked about in the recent chapters; you just have to be able to get the general idea and realize that this isn't the real world, so it won't make sense by the standards of our reality. then maybe you can stop whining about how nonsensical all the dialogue is and start appreciating the story itself
#ive been so baffled by this bc. like. i took one (1) basic physics class in high school 7 years ago that i was failing for most of the year#but ive been able to keep up well enough with what's going on in bsd to like. understand the science theory on a base-level i feel#but i just saw a post and something clicked. people expect this to make Real Life Sense#guys tripolar singularities created by magical abilities ARENT REAL#you HAVE to suspend your disbelief and remember bsd was never realistic fiction#it's the same with jjk tbh#so many of the cursed techniques are CONFUSING if you look only at the specific details#but if you look at. like. how kirara's ability affects the events of the plot when she uses it#you can get at least a base level understanding for how it works#while knowing nothing about the scientific explanation for magnetic pulls or whatever#like maybe asagiri is offering a genuine plausible theory for what might happen IF abilities were real in our world. i dont know#i dont have enough knowledge in theoretical physics or whatever for that#what i CAN do is suspend my disbelief and not expect the explanations to make perfect sense to me#then look at the outcomes in order to work backwards and understand some of the dialogue explanation#'dazai wouldve lost me at 'youre still at the airport'' well first of all you're not even trying#and second of all. of course. because that's not really possible in our world. but it IS in atsushi's.#(and third. that's not dazai. that's dazai's voice in atsushi's head. but i digress)#hello grace here

ok my OTHER reflection:
on the one hand its really frustrating to see the posts about docs and healthcare in general on here be so narrow-minded. bad experiences with certain providers have lead to a huge spread of misinformation and mistrust with the whole system. which can and HAS lead to people avoiding 'evil' doctors for perfectly treatable illnesses and dying from them (the vaccine bullshit, anyone?)
but on the other hand. it is TERRIFYING how some of these docs practice medicine. at times i think 'are you just burned out and don't give a shit or are you straight up just stupid?' and i work in critical care. where quite literally every case is life or death. even in the academic sector where there is supposedly a standard of excellence, some doctors i would not let touch my loved ones with a ten foot pole.
and that sucks. i know this is the no nuance piss on the poor webbed site but 'the medical system and people that work for it are fallible and aspects of it are morally questionable at best/unethical at worst' AND 'the field of medicine exists to help people first and foremost and mistrusting/avoiding it can be detrimental in the long run' can and DO co-exist
#also. folks i hate to tell you but 'doctors get big pharma kickbacks and they can cure you but just choose not to to get more money'#is a very tempting conspiracy theory. but it is SO UNTRUE.#hey listen. if someone is telling you they can 'cure' your disease magically if you just take x vitamin THEY ARE LYING#even miraculous cures like bone marrow transplants for autoimmune disease and CAR-T therapy#have such severe side-effects that they quite literally kill you#i can't tell you how many times i've taken care of people who#had their cancer 'cured' but the treatment ruined their kidneys/heart/lungs#or fucked their immune system so bad that a common bacteria could completely take them out#anyone selling you miracles is L Y I N G#i understand that a lot of this anger is around disability and chronic illness and psych and i get that. intimately.#its 100% accurate to say that a patient who researched independently about ehlers-danlos or POTS knows more about it than i do.#and its hard to see the profession as 'people who sincerely ARE trying to help' when you actively work with people who fucking suck#and you think like 'you went to school. you went through all this training. you (presumably) passed boards'#we should have at least around the same level of knowledge#but that is often not the case#still#making large scale statements about an entire profession (especially when its supposed to be a civic service) is just... not good#my two cents rec for this is:#if you think you have something rare or unusual try to find a doc that specialized in this i.e. go to an academic center.#trainees are less set in their ways and can think outside the box PLUS if there are new/innovative treatments they would have them#if you need pretty much ANY surgery. private is the way to go#you want surgeons with high volume and experience#surgical techniques do not change on the dime. most havent changed in 50+ years. a lot of other medicine DOES#(this of course does not apply to specialized surgeries like whipple or PTE or schwannoma resection - go to academics for that)#if its REALLY rare whether medical or surgical your GP will not know what to do with you#academic centers are referral centers. they are more likely to have the right tools to diagnose/treat#where was i going with this?#oh yeah i had an odd interaction with an ED doc admitting to me last night that was NOT practicing within current standard of care#and was just so casual and assured i started to doubt MYself. like. am I the crazy one?!?!#like i'm young i dont know everything SURE
