Born Both: An Intersex Life by Hida Viloria

My name is Hida Viloria. I was raised as a girl but discovered at a young age that my body looked different. Having endured an often turbulent home life as a kid, there were many times when I felt scared and alone, especially given my attraction to girls. But unlike most people in the first world who are born intersex–meaning they have genitals, reproductive organs, hormones, and/or chromosomal patterns that do not fit standard definitions of male or female–I grew up in the body I was born with because my parents did not have my sex characteristics surgically altered at birth. It wasn’t until I was twenty-six and encountered the term intersex in a San Francisco newspaper that I finally had a name for my difference. That’s when I began to explore what it means to live in the space between genders–to be both and neither. I tried living as a feminine woman, an androgynous person, and even for a brief period of time as a man. Good friends would not recognize me, and gay men would hit on me. My gender fluidity was exciting, and in many ways freeing–but it could also be isolating. I had to know if there were other intersex people like me, but when I finally found an intersex community to connect with I was shocked, and then deeply upset, to learn that most of the people I met had been scarred, both physically and psychologically, by infant surgeries and hormone treatments meant to “correct” their bodies. Realizing that the invisibility of intersex people in society facilitated these practices, I made it my mission to bring an end to it–and became one of the first people to voluntarily come out as intersex at a national and then international level. In Her Body and Other Parties, Carmen Maria Machado blithely demolishes the arbitrary borders between psychological realism and science fiction, comedy and horror, fantasy and fabulism. While her work has earned her comparisons to Karen Russell and Kelly Link, she has a voice that is all her own. Yuri Game Developer Studio Élan Launches Kickstarter for Physical Releases

On Sunday, Yuri visual novel developer Studio Élan launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund physical releases of the PC edition of three of its games, Highway Blossoms: Gold Rush Edition, Heart of the Woods, and Please Be Happy. At the time of writing, the Kickstarter has already doubled its $10,000 goal, raising over $22,000.

The funds raised will also be used to produce physical artbooks, soundtracks, and other Kickstarter-exclusive goodies. These bonus items include sticker sheets and keychains featuring characters from the games and a special postcard illustrated by Mage & Demon Queen creator Color-LES.

The physical releases are available in DVD-sized "classic editions" and jewel cases featuring a 2-sided reversible cover. After the campaign concludes, both editions will be available on Studio Élan's webstore.

Studio Élan announced stretch goals for the crowdfunding campaign, including a possible light novel adaption of Highway Blossoms and a DLC route for Please Be Happy that would allow protagonist Miho to enter a polyamorous relationship with romantic interests Juliet and Aspen.

Studio Élan is an international game development team focusing on making yuri visual novels and other WLW content. I've had a resurgence of listening to First Aid Kit recently so I decided to pair up a bunch of their songs and lyrics to traffic characters and ships. I'm surprised they’re not more popular in fandom spaces since they’re pretty similar genre-wise to both Crane Wives and the Oh Hellos, so consider this is my community pitch (+ commentary cuz i wanna)

Fleeting one - BigB

"My love is a fleeting one / My man could be anyone / And our love is a setting sun / My life is fleeting one / My work is just a web I've spun / Oh, my life is a setting sun / Baffled by the lives we were lent / We met the end too soon / I was honest when I told you / We're as cryptic as the moon"

BigB has a bit of a history with wavy loyalties. The secret soulmates with Grian, betraying Cleo, and most recently tricking Skizz (I know that was resolved but a pattern is a pattern my man). And well, not that I have any clue what the man's up with all the cryptic gaslighting but I feel like that applies as well.

The lyrics outside the chorus seem to be about a couple falling out of love, but I like to apply it to him and Cleo, which still fits fairly well. Angst galore ofc.

Wolf - Pearl

"When I run through the deep dark forest long after this begun / Where the sun would set, the trees were dead, and the rivers were none / And I hope for a trace to lead me back home from this place / But there was no sound there was only me and my disgrace"

Scratch this being the most Pearl-like FAK song, this is the most Pearl song ever. It's basically what started this whole project. All the lyrics and all the vibes just screams DL Pearl. The song is also a bop, one of my personal favs, if I were to recommend just one of these to listen to then this is a strong contender.

Josefin - Martyn

"You go home with feet bare in the snow / You raise up your head to the dead / You seek of such magical things / And nobody knows where you've been"

This smells of watcher lore guys. Don’t have much more commentary than that, it’s just watcher lore straight up.

King of the World - Lizzie

"I keep running around / Trying to find the ground / But my head is in the stars / And my feet are in the sky / Well I'm nobody's baby / I'm everybody's girl / I'm the queen of nothing / I'm the king of the world"

The lyrics is giving Last Life Lizzie, but it’s also one of the more whimsical-sounding songs on the list which feels very Lizzie in general.

I'll admit the rest of the lyrics isn’t particularly easy to tie into the life series since there’s a bunch of specific modern references like going to the airport and traveling through states, but I love the song way too much not to include it. Might be the personal favourite.

Rebel heart - Desert duo

"You told me once I have a rebel heart / I don't know if that's true / But I believe you saw something in me that lives inside you too / Now I all I hear is the wind / There’s a storm coming through / Did I misplace or forsake my love now that I gave it to you?"

Picking just one lyric section from this song was difficult. Every single word, top to bottom, fits Scarian like a glove. It also slams in a "But I know you truly saw me / Even if just for a while" which just MMMM. Makes me wanna bite someone.

I Found a Way - Treebark

"We play the game with skillful hands / And so I asked for your demands / "Give me your love, give me your gun" / And you traced us back to where we begun"

Tbh this song could apply to a lot of traffic dynamics but it had a lot of loyalty themes which is why I put it at Treebark specifically. That being said: man. It works so well. Specifically Martyn POV. The gun in the lyric above would ofc be the beheading, plus the song later mentions the protagonist having a lot of guilt and being prone to running. It's got C!Martyn all over it.

My Silver Lining - Skizz

"I try not to hold on to what is gone / I try to do right what is wrong / I try to keep on keeping on / Yeah I just keep on keeping on / I hear a voice calling / Calling out for me / These shackles I've made in an attempt to be free / Be it for reason, be it for love / I won't take the easy road"

This is another one where it just is Skizz. He’s probably been the most consistantly loyal and good-natured person in the series, doing anything and everything for his team. I feel this especially with how he was in Limited Life, being determined to spread some light into the world despite the game they found themselves in. When making this list I found that most of these songs could fit multiple dynamics/characters, but this is his song, full stop.

Stay Gold - Flower Husbands

"The sun shone high those few summer days / Left us in a soft, wide-eyed haze / It shone like gold / It shone like gold / But just as the moon, it shall stray / So dawn goes down today / No gold can stay / No gold can stay"

👏ANGST👏GALORE

Another one where I just want to quote the whole song. The song is all about grieving time periods and memories you can’t get back, to which I'm thinking late-game 3rd life, post-3rd life divorce or s1 empires characters having weird nostalgia. I go feral for all of it.

Heavy storm - Sausage

S1 Sausage angst my beloved. Or s2, could work either way, but I'm partial to s1. "She" could be either Pearl or Gem, however there is a "he" in the first chorus which is very much Fhwip. Like Stay Gold it’s all about grieving old times, so I like to imagine a post S1 Sausage grieving his old family :D

The Queen and the Politician

The Queen walked through the gardens with the young up-and-coming politician at her side. She let her delicate fingers run over the red rose petals, and spoke to the politician without looking at her.

“There was a time when all of this was divine,” she said, her voice regal, carrying the air of authority, while appearing disarmingly feminine. Though, Politician knew, that all of it was a cleverly crafted mask to make her appear more woman than beast. “We would look at flowers bloom and think ourselves blessed by the Gods. Now, you would have the people believe that it is a mechanical thing, something to be understood.”

Politician didn’t waver.

“Yes, your grace. However, I don’t want to paint an impression that knowledge is above divinity.” The queen looked at her. “I believe knowledge doesn’t destroy the beauty of nature, or the hitherto conceived notion that the world is filled with magic, and divine blessings.”

Politician stepped closer to the Queen, bowing to smell the roses that perfumed the air. They smelled like summer in the country, bringing Politician back to her childhood. The Sun beaming down on her as she played in the fields with her friends.

The Queen raised a perfectly sculpted brow at Politician as she stood to full height again. Politician smiled a genuine smile at the Queen. “I believe there is also beauty in revealing the secrets of our world, and presenting the opportunity to learn about them, equally, for all.”

The Queen’s hazel eyes studied Politician. Politician’s hair was tied back away from her face, not in the usual fashion that had swept through the noble ladies and girls of the city. It was practical, yet still presentable. Her skin was the same shade as the palace’s goat herder, and there was a resolute rigidness to her that seemed strong and dependable.

Unbreakable.

“You’re not from the city, are you?”

The tips of Politician’s cheeks flushed. “No, your grace.”

“Hmm,” the Queen smiled. “Perhaps we can help each other then. I commend you for your bravery of bringing this subject matter to the top, away from the other grouts in city hall.”

“I do work for the same grouts, my lady.”

“Of course,” the Queen said with a wave, hiding her cunning smile behind a pleasantly false one. A politician with loyalty and convictions, it was as if she was staring a fairy in the eyes. “Well I’d like to get to know you better over lunch.”

Politician’s hackles raised. “I couldn’t possibly impose.”

“Nonsense, my girl. We will eat, and then you will tell me more about this project of yours. How you intend to get this magical knowledge out to the public,” the Queen said with a wink to sweeten the pot. The truth was this Politician intrigued her, which is the first time in years— nay, the first time ever perhaps. “We shall talk business, you have my guarantee.”

Politician sensing that there was no room for argument, bowed to the Queen. The Queen stifled a laugh at the girl who bowed like the highest ranking noble men, no curtsy. One arm under her heart, the other behind her back.

“I will humbly accept your most gracious invitation.”

Perhaps this union could serve them both. The Queen nodded to one of her serving girls. “Be a dear snd tell cook that we shall have a guest dine with us for lunch.”

“Right away, your majesty.”

Politician straightened, smiling at the Queen.

Today I will be introducing my latest project I've been working called Variations of Dove. It's basically Dove but she is in a different fandom and there's a lot of fandoms that I'm in so we'll just go straight into it-

Starting off we have No Straight Roads Dove, who is a 25 year old ballet dancer to moved to Vinyl City after the Music Revolution and currently resides in the Natura District. She has a crush on Zuke-

Balan Wonderworld Dove is known as the Maestro of Wonder and was once an inhabitant long ago. She is love with Balan and wishes to impress him with her magical abilities.

Hifi Rush Dove may be wheelchair bound but that won't stop her from helping in anyway she can in taking down Vandelay Co with her friends. She is mainly fond of Chai since she likes him as more than just a friend...

Dove's abilities as a powerful physic has certainly caught the attention of the Psychonauts and they seek to recruit her. Her powers are precognition, psychometry, psychic reading, and astral projection.

Shortly after the overblotting incident involving Jamil, Dove was transferred from her all girls school to Night Raven College in a deal arranged by her father, Kalim's father, Jamil's parents, and the Headmaster. As a shy first year student, Dove slowly starts to find confidence in herself and develops feelings for her dorm leader Kalim...

Princess Dove is the ruler of the realm of Lan di Journ and as her title states she loves being an artist and enjoys painting any beautiful scenery. If she is not chosen as the player's queen then she will marry Ramone the Bard Prince instead.

Dove was born 10 years later after the birth of the 43 children on October 1st 1989, but she was able to become the Divine Servant of the 7 Gods who rule the world. In exchange for Dove's servitude and loyalty, Mother Earth and the 6 other gods crafted the Crown using a fraction of their powers which once placed on Dove's head gave her the power to see the past, present, and future which upon touching an object she will see everything that the Gods desire to know...

Hearts and Heroes Dove joined the Hub in the events after Pax East, and became a very powerful Light Mage as she went on missions to save those trapped in their nightmares.

Dove moved to Stardew Valley and settled in her grandfather's old farm in Pelican Town and quickly got the hang of farming and raising her favorite animals: chickens. Eventually Dove would marry Sam and bring him to her home to start their family and raise more chickens.

Long ago the 4 clans of the Utau Trolls were at war since the Emperor had died without an heir. This war however awoke a very dangerous monster with a hunger to eat the Utau Trolls, but just when all hope was lost, Hato sang a lullaby to seal the monster away and put it back in it's deep slumber, saving the entire race of the Utau Trolls. Because she had saved them, the Utau Trolls crowned her as their Empress, and thus started the royal bloodline that has ruled since then. Princess Roa is Hato's great x5 granddaughter and will soon become the next Empress...

Light Maiden Cookie is a sweet cookie that sees the beauty in just about anything, from the simplest flower to the strangest of objects. Her heart belongs only to a very special someone called Dragonfruit Cookie (my partner's oc)

K-Angel from Needy Streamer Overload is kinda Magical girl coded, well, she's an angel, but she looks and acts like a delusional magical girl (and I love my delusional girlfailures). She's my wife, I love her with all my heart. My lovely pathetic wet cat. Sailor Jupiter my beloved, she is, no doubt, my first magical girl crush, I mean girls with ponytails maaan. Intro to RAPTURE ACADEMY

(so remember a few months ago I said I wanted to make a list of characters for a fighting game? It has a name now lol)

RAPTURE ACADEMY is a superhero/alternate history project centrally focused around the Rapture Academy and Institute for Superpowered Opportunists, a school thinly designed to raise supervillains. Primarily focusing on the stories and systems around a bunch of kids with intensely dangerous powers enrolled in a private academy headed by imprisoned supervillain No. 1 Angel as part of an internationally-backed plea deal. The kids are alright.

STUDENTS:

Anti (Canadian) - Analog horror-themed hoodie kid with dark powers (makes everything they hit distort like a broken VHS tape), surprisingly nice and wholesome and probably the least likely to actually become a career villain.

Hellbound ("Eastern European") - Princess sacrificed to a draconic ritual, became a half-dragon berserker who spends her time bound in magic chains. A demure sweetheart when lucid, murderous beast otherwise.

The Vigilante Smog Monster/"Smoggy" (Australian) - A swamp monster summoned by an indigenous tribe searching for a protector, can turn into sludge and murder smoke, wears enchanted wooden masks.

Twintails (Japanese) - two students in one! A male wizard apprentice and a female ninja apprentice from rivalling clans that were fused together by a trickster yokai; one person is in control at a time, they swap from sneezing.

IDKYS/I Don't Know You, Sorry (Filipino) - Aspiring idol/daughter to high-ranking entertainment execs with a literally hypnotic voice. Placed in school with a voice-to-computer TTS mask in order to be taught a lesson in humility, is the class queen anyway.

Magnus VI (American) - Indestructible cyborg cowboy built by a mad science firm who can explosively self-destruct any joint in his body before reassembling. Extremely arrogant. No one touches his hat.

Metal Alice (French) - Daughter of a supervillain who died and was brought back as a haunted animatronic unknowing that she died. Is a walking portal to the ghost dimension who can pull out all sorts of phantasmic metal weapons, from scissors to chainsaws.

Hot★Shot (Chinese) - Cocky martial arts prodigy, has fire abilities, up-and-coming superstar. Basically thinks he's the protagonist of a shounen fighting game, is a colossal asshole from it, yet is the popular jock regardless.

Vioelectrolysis (Motswana) - Upbeat mad scientist-in-training who fights using a giant modified fire-extinguisher that mixes chemicals for deadly use, as well as a bigass flail for deadly use. She may or may not be a mutant.

White Slate (Greek) - A living statue accidentally created by a mad artist, has the ability to turn people into stone with his touch. Is missing a face, sometimes paints one on for intimidation points. Mostly an emo boi who paints a lot.

zZomnia (Pakistani) - Phoneaholic teen haunted by nightmares that double as guardian spirits with insanely powerful weapons whenever she's asleep or is on the verge of it. Is constantly sleepy. Leave her alone.

Bitter Batter (N/A) - Just an ordinary girl with no superpowers, but a baseball bat, a silent death glare, and murderous intent. Originally a teen vagrant before being enlisted in the school. The most "normal" student and also the most fn terrifying

Moonlight Rosebloom Powderpuff of the Unside Neverlandian Court (Scottish?) - A bubbly (alleged) fairy noble from a (disputed) faraway realm hidden in a (presumably) magical garden. Wields (conversely very real) magic. It's very pink.

Ryvr Sticks (Ukrainian) - A scarecrow infected with a paranatural fungi giving him sapience, regeneration abilities, and hallucinogenic powers. Indisputably the class clown and source of gossip. Is a wicked breakdancer.

FACULTY:

No.1 Angel (███) - Headmaster, part-time supervillain, full-time asshole. thinks he's a superhero who deserves to protect humanity but then gave another superhero cancer using his light manipulation powers for trying to stop him.

Panopticon (███) - head of security, a silent dude in black armor and an old-timey diving helmet who sometimes appears unacknowledged to stare at everyone in class, in hallways, or off campus. Powers unknown.

Señor Heartpuncher (Mexican) - Teacher of self-defense. Retired lucha-themed super with a long history of being a hero, but once had a heel-turn and became teacher because he owed a favor to No.1 Angel. has the ability to absorb and reflect kinetic force, perfect for teaching kids how to hit punches then tank them

Drill Instructor Friday (Brazilian) - Teacher of phys ed. Acts like the scariest and most intense drill instructor you can think of. She's also a genuine werewolf. Comes up with some of the funniest PG-13-level insults imaginable and then punishes you for laughing at them.

OfOz (Haitian) - Teacher of paranatural arts (magic, anomalies, anything "supernatural"). Pretty chill and charismatic expert in the field, is able to split his soul/body separately. Only one half of him is teaching classes, other half is doing supervillainy elsewhere in the world.

DDDD (South Korean) - Teacher of technology arts. Is the head of a megacorp developing devices for supers, mostly villains. Teaches remotely from the other side of the world using a mini-mech suit that she pilots from her office. It has weapons. She forgets this. Frequently rants about her competitors and has to be reminded by her secretary to stay on topic.

Sir SPECTACULAR!!! (Swiss) and The Virtuoso (German) - Teacher and assistant teachers of theatrics (getting students to figure out their gimmicks/brand/performances as supers). They used to commit "theatre crimes" together with SPECTACULAR!!!'s super-conductor powers and Virtuoso's super-VR tech, turning cities into musicals. After turning the state of Oklahoma into a musical, they've settled down teaching kids and enjoy it.

Mr. Professor Von Ruin (Austrian) - "Teacher" of ethics (the legalities and philosophies of being a super). he is actually a cat. a super-intelligent, talking cat, pet of a supervillain, but a cat. he doesn't really teach, so his period's just a free block.

Miss Brutalist (Swedish) - Teacher of logistics (resourcing and management of being a super). No powers, actually runs a business designing HQs and lairs for various supers. Most of her assignments involve getting students to do paperwork for her projects.

Dr. Infinity-Plus (Hungarian) - Teacher of general sciences and maths. Has incredible foresight/caculation abilities, which drove him... not quite "insane" but very jaded, paranoid, and antsy. Will often derail classes to vent about existentially terrifying concepts. wears a Rubik's cube-like helmet to dampen his mind.

Sewn Chaos (Azerbaijani) - Teacher of home economics. Former career super before using her textile-manipulation powers to design costumes for others, helps the kids figure out their costumes. genuinely like everyone's favorite grandma up until she shares stories of all the f'd up villains she worked with. Good times!

DREADNAUT (Russian) - Head librarian. Ghostly cosmonaut afflicted by paranatural forces while on the moon, now has gravity powers but is stuck in a fugue state. manages the school's library containing vast resources... which is constructed upside-down in order to make it harder for kids to access.

Gutwrencher (Czech) - Head nurse. A zombie in all but name, has a flesh-mending/regeneration factor she can use to heal herself and others. Is constructed out of various necrotic body parts and stitching that often come apart at inconvenient times. Some students are attracted to her and don't know why.

Mr. BRB (Italian) - Head janitor (and also the only one). He's a necromancer who summons ghouls to help do the cleaning for him but often still leaves things dirty. Mostly chills out in his office to record his personal podcasts and offer advice to kids who ask nicely.

Unlike her brothers Hokori doesn't have fire hair, instead she has short blue hair that ties up in twintails with a strand of white streak and yellow eyes.

As Cure Skull her hair became white and is ties to a side ponytail and her eyes became pastel yellow.

Background:

She was raised on the Island of Woe alongside her older brother Idia and younger brother Ortho. From a young age she was considered a prodigy in gaming, rhythm games in general.

And out of all the Shrouds she's the only one who wasn't cursed meaning she doesn't have to close proximity to blot in order to survive.

She usually spent the whole time with her brothers. Influenced by the video games they would play, the 3 of them dreamed of becoming heroes and going on adventures together in the outside world.

One day an accident happened when the 3 of them attempted to escape the island by shutting down the security system, an unknown person launched an attack, causing a overblot phantom to attack the siblings with only Idia and Hokori surviving.

For the next 2 years she heard him working tirelessly to recreate Ortho in the form of a AI robot, but only that but she watches him shutting himself away from others.

Personality:

Hokori is a strong and opened-minded girl who is competitive with rhythm games, if you want to compete with her then you are asking for a death wish.

In general she is very worrying about her brother Idia, she usually brushing off her own problems by playing rhythm games and hanging out with the now AI robot Ortho.

I really wonder what magic world Fionna and Cake could've been if Natasha wrote more or we got context to more of what Prismo originally created instead of getting a view of it from Ice King's half insane writings of wanting to kiss Fionna. I've found some of Natasha's old stuff on tumblr and read the comics more than once, it fascinates me they aren't just a mirror to Finn's world and have their own lore and stories depending on how the characters have changed. Others just took the concept and made their own stories from it fueled by fanfiction tropes.

Marceline in "Bad Little Boy" writes coping with her own problems by projecting them onto Marshall, also settling on making Marshall and Fionna friends the same way she treats Finn like a little brother type.

LSP in "The Prince who wanted everything" is just her self inserting her feelings on how its unfair her parents tell her to take a shower once in a while or do basic things an average person would do, let alone a princess.

"Five Short Tables" is just Ice King's mixed up fanfiction so the scenes don't even match up with each other. By this logic he has five separate fanfictions of Cake learning to make shaped pancakes, Gumball having an entire ego meltdown over a board game, Flame Prince just not understanding a library, Marshall Lee trying to help cure LSPrince's headcold, and the Ice Queen holding a ted talk on her own fanfiction.

I genuinely wonder what is Prismos fundamental base for stories and what is Ice King's madness seeping in as he projects his own problems(aside from the obvious) onto Ice Queen yet also admits he'd love to marry her. The only time we see the world functioning on its own is "Fionna and Cake and Fionna" where a bunny looking girl was able to tune into the world and see it thinking it was a tv program. Her recordings are the only pure Prismo writing we ever see in the show. And you can tell he likes Jake ALOT cause Cake does the same thing as 'key hand' except its 'key eye' instead. This further shows their world is different since the Queen of Ooo is just dressing up as a mummy to steal money from Fionna or anyone else who would have found her wrapped in bandages rather than using charisma to convince people to give her money.

However due to a lack of anything outside of what other people of Ooo wrote, characterizations and favored characters are different so they get written differently by various people. We don't know if Prismo specifically used PB's background for Gumball and according to a tumblr post it was once a concept that Cake was raised by the Ice Queen since being a kitten and the comics write the Ice Queen as a water nymph that was cursed.

At least we have some canon (possibly) that Gumball is just very vain and even jealous of LSPrince being beautiful as a Jojo character.

Yup, it happened again! Third times the charm? May 23rd. 2023

The mural of Bettie Page on the side of Jessica Baxter’s house is one of the few works of art you can see from Interstate 5 in Seattle. But it seems not everyone is happy about it: Earlier this week, vandals used red paint to deface the mural, which features the 1950s pinup model, with her signature black bangs, and John Waters’ drag queen muse Divine. Also severely damage was the unprotected Britney Spears/Laura Palmer mural by Two Thangs that was destroyed.

The mural, located at the intersection of Seventh Avenue Northeast and Northeast 59th Street, was attacked at 2 a.m. Sunday, Baxter said. The vandal wore a compressed air tank which was filled filled with a red oil-based paint, she reported, “slowly walking around the house, soaking the mural as well as coating a separate kitchen that helps feed the homeless, leaving a mess behind”.

She said the vandals also made off with a “Black Lives Matter” sign.

The attack happened so quickly, Baxter said, that by the time she’d woken up and gotten to the window, whoever had targeted Bettie and Divine was gone.

Baxter said she had no idea who was behind the nocturnal attack. They “didn’t leave a calling card or manifesto,” she said wryly. She reported the attack to the police.

The mural has been more positively received by others. This is also the third time the Baxter home was targeted.

A GoFundMe page set up to cover the expenses of the repainting had already exceeded its $4,000 fundraising goal as of Thursday afternoon. “That mural is tied to many good summer memories and it is a beautiful piece of art!” wrote one donor.

Originally painted in 2005 by artist John Green, the mural was previously attacked in 2016. Also in late June of that year, vandals threw gray paint on the mural and, reported The Seattle Times at the time, left a message — “Stop exploiting women’s bodies” — signed only “some feminists.”

Contemporaneous accounts and comments from those who knew or engaged with Page’s work would suggest this is a misreading.

As artist Olivia De Berardinis told the Los Angeles Times in a 2008 obituary of the model: “[I]t took me years to understand what I was looking at in the old photographs of her. Now I get it. There was a passion play unfolding in her mind. What some see as a bad-girl image was in fact a certain sensual freedom and playacting — it was part of the fun of being a woman.”

After the 2016 vandalism, artist Two Thangs repaired the damage to Page and added the second image, this one of drag queen Divine.

“The ladies became fast friends and we were so proud to have such incredible and unique art on our house to share with the I-5 passersby,” wrote Baxter on the GoFundMe page. “People tell us all the time that they love the painting and it makes us so happy to contribute to a sense of community that was once [a] hallmark in Seattle but has been on the decline.”

Baxter said Two Thangs would be returning this month to repair the work again. “We’re gonna keep putting it back up,” she said.

On her GoFundMe page, Baxter said that house painters she’d already hired for a different project “sprung into action” the morning the mural was defaced, using a pressure washer and paint thinner on a historically hot day to clean up most of the “oil-based red glop.” But Bettie and Divine “will still need touch ups.”

For that, Two Thangs will be flown in from Rhode Island to work his magic on the icons. “We just want our girls back and we want him to be well compensated for it,” said Baxter. Any donations over the goal will go to support the LGBTQ Youth organisation at Lambert House.

While I am stilling writing up profiles and designing characters for my Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! series 'Hunted Butterfly', I decided to do a quick character lineup of my OCs that I considered to be a part of the main cast. I will have a line up for supporting characters and antagonists. 

I also wrote up some basic info about them as a form of roll call to introduce them to new people. 

From left to right we have; 

Salem- A demon spider-monkey hybrid. Knighted warrior of his home planet and guardian of his godson Reynold Nystrom Jr./Rain, he is Gibson's biological brother. His mysterious knowledge about Dark Ones and his unique combat have helped the Hyperforce team in many ways, they are concerned about his awareness of Dark Ones as he will not elaborate on where he got this knowledge from.

Tech- Commonly going by his nickname, a very skilled mechanic and Chrome's younger brother. He usually works alongside his creator/father in his projects and helping with raising his goddaughter, Sophie Ito. His understanding of new and old technology has helped the Hyperforce team a lot with fighting the war, he and Otto are close mechanic buddies as they work on new projects together while also having a mutual concern for Chrome albeit for slightly distinct reasons.

Chrome- A fully robot monkey mercenary as well as the chosen wielder of the Dark Reaper who fights the Krivark on his home planet. He is Tech's older brother and primary guardian of his goddaughter Sophie Ito; he later becomes Otto's boyfriend. He works to find the answers to many secrets relating to his home but also Eki's past, secretly having a feeling she's more important than what was originally thought to be.

Skyper- The last monkey created by the Alchemist and later became a Formless-Monkey Hybrid due to Skeleton King; he is Antauri's biological younger brother. He's very unique in not just biology but also in his general personality, at times he's mysterious even to himself. These days, he's acting as Eki's self-proclaimed guardian/protector.

Eki- A bionic human girl who was rescued from her 'creator' by the Hyperforce which after some time she becomes a member of the team and Chiro's foster sister. She is learning about life and freedom while adapting to her powers, thankfully for her she has a good support group in her growing development. 

Amy- The botanist of the Hyperforce, using her knowledge to help Gibson craft cures and keep the team safe from dangerous specimens on unknown worlds. She is also Sparx's younger biological sister; She's probably one of the very few who can stop everyone else from killing Sparx but will have her moments where she wants to 'kill' him. While not an occasional fighter, she can hold her own when needed. 

Azure Spear and Ruby Mace- A pair of monkeys who are very much in love to the point where they got married, they live on the same planet as Chrome and work various part-time jobs to keep themselves occupied. Azure is the peacekeeper while Ruby is the warrior, they in a way act as unofficial advisors to the Hyperforce with Ruby more of the fighting type mentor while Azure is the more emotional/mental advisor. They have a good relationship with the Hyperforce team while being old friends of Salem, Chrome and Tech. 

Octavia- A monkey-sea siren/mermaid hybrid and the adopted daughter to the current queen of Atlantia, an underwater kingdom that resides in the Shuggazoom ocean. She acts as the expert of sea life and later becomes Gibson's girlfriend, through her Gibson has learned to relax more and accept the concepts of 'magic' better. She's close to the female members of the team and has a good relationship with the males, Sparx is protective of her's and Gibson relationship. 

Coco- A young female monkey created by an exiled Veron Mystic member and raised as not just his student but also his daughter in a small pocket dimension. Other than the Power Primate, she had light and healing powers. She eventually becomes Antauri's girlfriend (And to Skyper's delight, his sister-in-law). She's honestly struggling to adapt to Shuggazoom but she knows that she'll be ok with the rest of the Hyperforce team with her. 

Kaneki- One and the only surviving prototype of the monkey team who later became a part of the Super Robot as a part of its subconscious and in control of it. When he is discovered and his new body is completed with the updated nano bots, he is fully trusted with controlling the Super Robot when needed and acts as a secondary advisor and guardian to the whole team. It is heavily implied that he and Antauri have developed a form of psychic connection due to the events of 'I, Chiro' while he's lowkey worrisome about Chiro's future.
