Chapter 2: Magic Training

Narrated by Yexiao.

Narrator: Despite it being the weekend, I'm already up when the early morning sun rises.

Narrator: The rehearsal room in the theater is brightly lit. Seems that someone had rehearsed all night.

Director: Hello, everyone!

Narrator: The director walks into the room and introduces himself straight away.

Director: It's a pleasure to meet you. Thank you so much for participating in December Troupe's training session.

Director: As previously mentioned, starting from today, we will provide free performance training for everyone.

Director: At the same time, we hope to find the lead actor for the play "Leah the Candy Witch" among you.

Narrator: While the director speaks, the candidates form a circle under the instruction of an assistant.

Director: The training will start with some self-introductions. If you're ready, please tell us about yourself.

Narrator: Many participants are eager to start. Some of them immediately take the initiative to get up and introduce themselves.

Girl A: Hi, everyone! Just call me Qi. I have always dreamed of standing on the stage and becoming a star!

Girl B: Hi, everyone. My name is Xinxin. I am a big fan of the December Troupe. I've seen every performance they put up! I feel very honored to be here today.

Girl C: Hello, everyone. I'm Mingming. I'd really like to play the Candy Witch. I love the character, and I like to design...

Narrator: I sit there and listen quietly until everyone is finished, then stand up to introduce myself.

Yexiao: Hi, everyone. My name is Yexiao. I like to raise cats and chickens. When the weather is nice, I like to buy groceries at the market or paint in the garden.

Yexiao: I'm here because I hope to be friends with everyone. If you want to eat hotpot together after rehearsal, feel free to invite me.

Narrator: After a brief silence, the candidates around me start to murmur to each other.

Qi: Hotpot? I don't want to get fat.

Xinxin: Are we having hotpot for dinner? I didn't even know!

Mingming: I... I hope it's not spicy...

Director: Okay. Thank you for your introductions. It is a pleasure to meet you all. Let's move on to the next segment, shall we? Please stand up. Let's get started.

Director: Every one of us can breathe. But the kind of breathing I am going to talk about now is different from normal breathing.

Director: I need you to make some simple movements to the rhythm of your breathing. Kind of like doing yoga.

Narrator: As the director speaks, some candidates have already started taking big breaths.

Director: Slowly, inhale into your abdomen. Do it as slowly as possible, and your movements should also slow down.

Director: Breathe in slowly... Breathe out slowly... Move slowly...

Narrator: After repeating this breathing exercise more than a dozen times, many candidates gradually begin to lose focus. Whispers can be heard throughout the rehearsal room.

Qi: My arms are tired. Can we hurry up?

Xinxin: What? Sorry, I almost fell asleep just now.

Narrator: I, however, don't find this way of breathing difficult. In fact, it's quite relaxing.

Choose "I think you can do it a hundred more times easily."

You: Duh, it's obviously not difficult for you. You can probably do it a hundred more times easily.

Narrator: Inhale... exhale... This pace is not too slow for me at all. Perhaps it's because I often sit for a long time when I sketch.

Director: How's everyone feeling? I know that breathing slowly while moving is not easy, but this activity really helps you focus.

Director: Hang in there a little longer. It will be over soon.

​he's under the row of flags on Neige's side of the room, next to the big Neige poster with the yellow background (look just to the right of the hand holding the apple)! he's REAL little; once you know he's there you can kind of see him in-game, but I only noticed him in the first place because I took a screenshot and was having fun zooming in on all the details!

I think that's either Hop or Snick and Dominic on either side of Neige, but if the others are meant to be anyone in particular I don't recognize 'em. though I do love all the absolutely terrifying implications of Rook having this. was this some kind of officially-published merchandise (and if so, why) or did Rook like...go hunting through the RSA trash to find this random student lineup just because it included Neige, and has had it hanging proudly on the wall ever since. (I mean, he definitely did do this, I don't know why I'm asking. the real question is why he hasn't cut out little pictures of his own face and stuck them over everyone else's yet.)

there is seriously SO MUCH in this room. how did Rook manage to keep this hidden for three years. also, somebody give this background artist a raise immediately.

Happy 10th Anniversary, Magic of the North x It's officially the 20th November here in the UK, so I can finally share this commemorative piece with you, drawn by my dear friend @mahoganyrust (Author of Forever Is My Tomorrow)

This scene is from Chapter 15, and it is both mine and Rusty's favourite scene, in which Hiccup faces the demons of his past, and is rewarded with a vision of a potential future. Read Magic of the North here!

Just once i want arthur to look up from seeing a spear fly out of nowhere, hitting a target about to get him, and instead of seeing merlin on the ground (where he has used magic to save him) he sees merlin standing tall and shrugging like he got lucky with that throw. JUST ONCE I WANT MERLIN TO HAVE THIS CREDIT.

thinking about mithrun dunmeshi who could incapacitate most opponents in hand-to-hand (update: he’s a trained knife-fighter!) but chooses to use extremely fastidious teleportation magic without blinking at how easy it would be to accidentally blow himself or everyone involved, friend or foe, all the way up
