Just finished the good place. I want to be sad so badly but I can’t. It literally created such a perfect satisfying and bittersweet ending for all the characters I just can’t be sad. Like what am I supposed to be sad about. That everything ended in a literal perfect way?

the oresama teacher art book arrived! more pictures below the cut.

the art book is about 100+ pages long, same size as a standard japanese manga volume (so slightly smaller than english volumes, and smaller than A5). it’s full color with a glossy finish and heavier paper weight than usual. because of the small size and paper, it’s quite difficult to take good photos of it. but the artwork inside is awesome, so if anyone has a scanner and would be willing to buy an extra copy, you could share so much cool art...

it’s included on the special edition of oresama teacher #29. i highly recommend buying it!!! it’s super amazing to see all of tsubaki’s colorful art together!

unfortunately, i can’t take many photos, so if you want to see specific characters/artwork/notes, then please message me and i’ll try to deliver.

the book first begins with an intro by miss tsubaki herself! 

next, there’s a couple of pages of older artwork from pre-2009. it’s all stuff you’ve seen before so i won’t bother sharing (actually, i won’t share in general unless it’s art i haven’t seen on the internet before). the amount of individual pictures on each page really varies; for some, there are single-page illustrations or even double spreads, but for others, they’ll stuff four or five illustrations on the same page. each illustration has a little note stating what year it was drawn and the source of the image. some pictures have an even bigger note beside them explaining things.

interspersed throughout the book are “item collection” pages that detail merchandise created for oresama teacher. most oresama teacher merch isn’t sold in stores or anything; they’re included in the monthly issues of hana to yume. i think the rubber straps and can badges were the only exception.

this was a bag included in a 2008 issue of hana to yume! tsubaki even included it on a chapter cover spread. i saw this bag on surugaya a while back and wanted to get it tbh... btw, you can also tell how old oresama teacher is by the fact that it had flip phone straps...

then, it’s all chapter cover pages (including that one one-shot tsubaki did). i don’t know what shueisha and square enix got going on, also, but there’s a ton of gekkan shojo crossover art as well. like, does no one ever question how tsubaki’s allowed to do so many crossovers when her characters belong to separate publishers!? or have i got my info wrong...

more merch! this one here was a collectible card created for the 35th anniversary of hana to yume. other hana to yume series should have something similar as well~

next is new year greeting cards. all of these are on her twitter so i won’t post them here, but it’s basically crossover pictures between oresama and gekkan shojo characters. 

just some random okegawa and maizono pic i haven’t seen before. it’s from the first drama CD.

a whole page dedicated to those little rubber straps and the initial artwork for them!

i feel like i’ve seen this mafuyu a lot, but never the okegawa side.

it then has artwork from her blog! she doesn’t really use it anymore, though you can still see all the artwork there. and... it even includes the oyayubi kara romance (the magic touch) illustrations as well! she’s not totally ignoring it after all.

after this is drama CD and twitter drawings; just scroll through her twitter to see those. it then goes on to textless, full page hana to yume covers... and volume covers!

sorry, i can only take one photo for example. i don’t want to ruin the book by flattening out the page. but, this is why i’m saying it’s totally a good idea to get an extra copy if you have a scanner, it’s just way too cool to have so much clear and textless oresama teacher art.

after that is artwork done for calendars (including the sexy santa maizono picture). they also show off the new years shikishi and paper bonuses. i’m not really sure what the paper bonuses are, maybe included with the volume editions or something? they put like 10 on the same page so it’s impossible to see them well, though. my favorite is the one where okegawa is daydreaming about mafuyu being his prince, but the picture is really too small to show.

then, there’s some more color chapter covers, and finally, the character profiles! i think this is the same as the one on volume 16 but with less characters. for some reason it includes yamashita but not miyabi, so i truly have no idea where tsubaki’s priorities lie.

that’s the end! i ended up just sharing super old artwork, huh... most of the book is newer art too, oops. once again, i apologize for not being able to post many photos, and if you want to see specific characters/artwork/notes then please tell me.

i really really suggest you buy this book if you’re an oresama teacher fan, there’s just so much amazing artwork and it’s totally worth it!

Hellooooo it’s meeeeee, to no one’s surprise I still haven’t recovered from given and I don’t think I ever will u can ask @queenoftheknight that literally my heart hasn’t moved on.

So like I said in previous posts I wanted to talk about it so muchhh but the words never came since I consider myself to be someone that expresses better in person than text, but I’ll try so prepare cause this shit is gonna be long.

1. THE FUCKING OPENING OMG

I’m a very critical person when it comes to openings and for some kind of reason I was like ok let’s listen to it and haha when I was reading the lyrics my heart went 💔 cause everything is so accurate to the storyline, everything fits perfectly. If u haven’t heard the complete song pls do so, it holds so much feelings. I’m gonna share with u guys some of my favorites quotes

All the things u left behind, became my everything-> WITH THIS ONE I DIED OK I WAS LIKE OH OK BAI.

Rainy, sunny, cloudy, spring, summer, fall and winter, 365 days, u remain in all of them-> THIS ONE ASDGFHJ IS THE PART WHERE YŪKI’S GHOST HUGS MAFUYU AND THEN HE HUGS TIGHTER THE GUITAR, look I can’t emphasized how much that scene hurts me.

Even if I meet u in my dreams, it’s meaningless cause u are not here-> bruh I imagine Mafuyu saying this and X_X (this is from the extended ver).

I still hear it, it's still so real, ur heartbeat, it becomes a part of me, u become me, I become u-> I think I don’t need to say any words.

2. UGETSU’S AND AKIHIKO’S RELATIONSHIP

THIS PART MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS TO THOSE WHO HAVENT READ THE MANGA

I’m a die hard fan of Haruki and Akihiko, but when I saw that scene where Ugetsu turns back to scream at Akihiko to not go and stay with him, while crying, THAT HURT SO MUCH OMG. Idk why but I could feel his pain like, he was so used to them fighting, breaking up and then getting back together, but this time was for real, that was a definite goodbye. Don’t get me wrong they were toxic as hell and even physical violence was involved cause he punched Akihiko more than once (I think, if my memory is working), but yeah I feel bad for Uge :(

3. Yūki omg this guy

I don’t know where to begin with this guy, I don’t want Natsuki sensei to draw much about him cause he’s my ship wrecker ok. Like I’m a sucker for the bad boy style and everything and he was so caring towards Mafuyu BUT YEAH THE POINT IS I DONT WANNA SEE HIM CAUSE I DONT WANNA LOVE HIM MORE AND FEEL KIND OF GUILTY FOR SHIPPING RITSUKA AND MAFUYU.

But there’s something that tickles me, like imagine a 15 year old killing himself just cause he had a huge fight with his bf, and this is a very sensitive topic but I remember when Hiiragi was talking about him, he said Yūki was a moody person so I thought what if he suffered from depression or he wasn’t emotionally stable like that would destroy the whole fandom. So yeah Yūki bby reast in peace we love u❤️

I don’t wanna offend anyone, this comes from someone who struggles with depression, so yeah kisses💕

4. Ep 9

Do I really need to explain how much damage it made to my heart, for starters I’m not emotionally stable and this episode broke the shit out of me.

All I wanna say is that I lost it when Mafuyu starts to talk to Yuki (u know what I mean) and starts reminiscing the past and ASDFGHJKL , the part when he screams AHHHH woahhhh My emotions left my body, if this platform were more safe I would show u guys pics of me that day AND THE VN I SENT MY FRIENDS OH GOD IT WAS ME SOBBING.

5. Mafuyu’s and Ritsuka’s relationship

I loveeeeee them soooo muchhhh, but there are maaaany things I wanna say and I want to see if I’m the only one who thinks like this.

There are a lot of people who say that Ritsuka is a replacement for Yūki but I don’t see that, on the contrary I think Ritsuka is the one who’s helping Mafuyu to heal, to be able to express himself, to allow himself feel whatever he wants to feel.

Now I’m not gonna lie if deep down I thought so in very specific moments. For example on the infamous ep 9 when Mafuyu is talking to Yūki while he’s singing, he says: I see u everywhere and the scene is Ritsuka turning his back and then Mafuyu sees Yūki, and at that moment I was TRIGGERED also in a manga ch Mafuyu sleeps over at Ritsuka’s and feels like crying cause Ritsuka had the same clock as Yūki, LIKE WHAT ARE THE ODDS, but yeah I don’t think he’s a replacement ok, those were just moments of doubt :)

Well I would’ve loved if the author had put more time between Yūki’s death and the beginning of the story cause idk the exact time but it was less than a year, and within months I think is SO HARD to get over ur ex who just committed suicide because of something U SAID, which also happens to be ur first love, childhood friend, someone who stood by u in so many aspects of ur life (his dad getting arrested) AND OH LET’S NOT FORGET THAT U REALIZED THAT WHAT U SAID WAS WRONG SO U CAME TO APOLOGIZE BUT OHOH TOO LATE BRO, so yeah to be able fall in love in couple of months and get over all that trauma seems a little unrealistic but I won’t fight it cause I love them lots.

Ritsuka is literally the only person that can be with Mafuyu specially in this time and circumstances, cause like I said, simultaneously as Mafuyu is developing a relationship with him,he’s also trying to 1. Move forward and get over Yūki 2. Forgive himself and Yūki, which if u ask me doing those 2 things while being in a relationship, the other person has to be very patient and we can see that with Ritsuka so that’s why I think that he’s gonna be Mafuyu’s second and last love ❤️.

Special mention to the quote on the title: can’t say goodbye, I’m still drifting with your echoes.

I hope I can see our baby Mafuyu always like this cause my god this smol boi deserves pure and entire happiness after all the shit he’s been thru

Aki, Haru and Ugetsu’s relashionship. Or a beautiful trainwreck (part 1 - chapter 15)

I decided to do a summary (?), I don’t know what name to give, about these three i~I, so you guys can understand a little bit what’s going on. I have no idea of what’s going to happen with them from now on, and although I had a big thing for AkiHaru since the beginning, now that we’re learning more about them and Ugetsu, I just have a lot of conflict feelings hahaha. Aki and Ugetsu’s relashionship is very complex and very painful for both of them. It’s exactly like Aki described before, violent and destructive. It was their first love and they can’t let it go (Although Ugetsu is trying).

Haru until now saw Aki as some sort of idol, someone who he was trying to convince himself he was satisfied looking from a distance, but now, after all the mess that Aki made, they’re finally, fucking finally, looking at each other as they truly are, and on equal ground.

 I don’t really have the time now to make a summary of all the chapters, so I’ll mainly focus on their relashionship, ok? I saw that the last eng release was chapter 13, right? I won’t take long on chapter 14 because is a Mafuyu and Uenoyama centered chap. I read the raws provided by ba-raw on livejournal. I’m using a few parts of their scans, but if there’s a problem with it, I can delete it!

Chapter 14 is about Mafuyu saying he loves Uenoyama and Uenoyama, in shock, having the most funny thoughts about finally graduating in love. But he also remember that in the past he's said that he’d never get involved with someone of the same band, bc that would be troublesome when they had a figth, so he's worried about how to tell Haruki and Aki about them. They go to Haruki’s home and he is worried at first but in the end he supports them, but asks them to be careful not posting dating pics on twitter and etc. Aki is totally unimpressed like "well, congratulations". In chapter 15 they're taking advertisement photos and they give some explanations about it to Mafuyu, and about how amateur bands work. They upload things at their sns (like Haruki’s birthday photos) and make another performance somewhere.

In fact chapter 15 also doesn’t have a lot of interaction between the 3 of them, but there are some important scenes so we can understand Aki a little bit…

We learn that Ugetsu took an interest in Mafuyu and gave Akihiko two tickets for his concert and asked Aki to bring Mafuyu with him. When Mafuyu is going to meet Aki, he sees him in a car with a woman (the woman gives him money) and when they meet, Mafuyu says: 援交 (enkou) that literally means dating with compensation (like financial support, etc.)​ (tn: Mafuyu is so blunt that is funny).

Aki tries to get away saying that’s not the case, that this is just a bad habit of that woman, but Mafuyu didn’t buy it and remember a conversation he had with Haruki. Haruki said that in the past Aki was really rough, like someone who was about to explode (whose look was like a walking knife), but that now he is considerably more amicably. He also says that his relationships with women weren’t good. Mafuyu says to Aki that is not that he’s become nicer, is just that he doesn’t show this side of him (read the bad, gigolo side) in front of Haruki (he says Haruki-sanとか, so it might include other people as well, like Uenoyama and his sis) and Aki is like:

After that they go to the concert and Mafuyu recognize Ugetsu as Aki’s roommate.

I’m working on chapter 16 now, might post it tomorrow. Please keep in mind that though I’m confident with my japanese, english is not my first language, so forgive any mispellings or grammar errors >-<

Part 2

This season’s Given has allowed me to create some of my favourite gifs. It’s actually a lot more than a nifty gif  source. In fact, Karandi and I are really getting into it.Who are we kidding? We’ve been into it for a while! And we talk about episode 7 over on 100 Word Anime.

Maybe I should rename my blog 100 pic anime and just make it a companion. These posts are really fun to put together!

The precredit’s tag was pretty short. Just a few images of Kaji’s past. As you can see, the light is bleaker than we usually get in Given. Keep that in mind, I have a conspiracy theory to share later on.

Ahhh boys, they can be so childish. And when they are, it shows in their faces! Wasn’t great seeing hyper stoic Kaji visibly react to something. A rare sight.

Although these scenes, especially in the studio, are warmer than the opening tag, they still remain more neutral in tone rather than the usual warmth we get. There’s this feeling of a slowdown. Maybe even a calm before the storm. You still have some yellow light invading the scenes making everything look a little happier but it’s subdues. The shadows are sharper than before as well.

Visually, everything is pointing to the fact that something is going to happen, but not yet. we are gearing up.

The first stairwell scene and Mafuyu is all alone. He’s also in the centre of the stairs rather than off to the side, so he’s not really waiting for someone. Mafuyu has some things he needs to work out on his own.

I didn’t quite see it in the episode. When Mayu was looking through the window. He didn’t react much and his tone was the same as always. He also quickly started thinking about music again so I figured he hadn’t really noticed Ueno yet. Made sense, the boy’s been through a rough experience. His mind is not on these things. But in the stills, his expression looks definitely a little miffed.

I do like how close he’s gotten to the other guys in Ueno’s class. They seem like real friends.

The studio scenes remain the warmest and most comforting visually. It does help that Mayu fell asleep and the two boys were sitting in relaxed and cozy poses. But the show has also gone out of it’s way to visually establish the studio as a safe space. For now…

I’m not crazy about the new image layout WordPress has. This is why you’re getting this weird arrangement.

We don’t know much about Murata yet. The little we did see of him, he seems like a kind if emotional boy, who treats others well. But that house…

We see Kaji’s place again and it is freezing cold. It’s steel grey and blue. The light always looks a little dim even in the middle of the day. Look at the difference in Kaji’s hair from the first screencap in the studio to the before last one at his place. These scenes contrast wildly with the rest of the show. And this is important because this week we found out that this was Murata’s house. Kaji is just crashing there.

Paired with the black hair and grey eyes. This guy is so monotone. Even their old school uniform lacked all colour. Based on visuals alone, I would say this kid is very bad news.

And about that old school uniform, ok, clunky transition… Isn’t it a nice touch that Kaji has no piercings in his flashback. If they want to be really next level, they will gradually add them in as we get more flashbacks (if we got more).

Second stairwell scene and oh my but do these boys look troubled. Mayu’s lost and and exhausted, Ueno is restless and jittery. Things are not going well. Yet the interactions and dialogue are all pretty calm and normal. It’s all in the body language. Impressive.

I really like how many different hairstyles Haruki has. And it changes his appearance a lot!

Also, it seems we are back to the green light in this final scene. The is the second time in the series that this particular scheme has been used and both times it was to mark and emotionally difficult moment for the characters.
