chapter 1 trial
#i think my biggest achievements in making these was being able to condense the trials into a few basic panels#each trial ended up needing more n more dialogue but seeing how long the in game trials are im pretty proud of myself#i only did ever sketch out the first three trials tho my sketches have taken me just up to the chapt 4 trial which i ever started at all#oh also i made sure to always keep the order of the characters in the trials true to the game#everyone is placed in the exact same 'seats' as they are in the real game#that was tough at times bc sometimes i wanted dialogue between characters who were nowhere near each other#but it was also a good opportunity to make me use characters i normally wouldnt have thought to use#and i couldnt just give dialogue to my favourite characters lol#and sometimes it worked out really well where the characters i wanted interacting did happen to be next to each other#sdr2#super danganronpa 2#ok here we go#hajime hinata#teruteru hanamura#mikan tsumiki#chiaki namani#nagito komaeda#peko pekoyama#is that everyone#mahiru koizumi#there we go#my art

#...right- LOL#I was so scared of losing anyone I pretty much only summoned Yurgir!#ok let me ramble about this fight in the tags#I.....listen. Listen. I love this game with my entire heart. It's one of my favorite games of all time.#.....the final battle took me out of it a little bit ngjfkdlnshjk#It introduced a bunch of new mechanics and maybe I'm dumb but it felt like it wasn't super clear how everything worked#First I restarted it because I dropped a globe of invuln on the starting area thinking Orpheus could just activate the stones from that far#Then I restarted it bc I basically ran out of time on the rounds...except I didn't realize the fight would continue since every other-#-turn-based round counter was usually a game over#THEN I actually summoned the flaming fist to help clean up right at the end which made the camera SUPER confused when I went in the portal#It was a mess.#I still give the game an 11/10 tho lmao#Oh also Orpheus did something - I don't know what - and then the dragon just died with 120hp left. So. playing fhr for the first time..... why is it so fun to beat the shit out of ortega and then decide to visit him as sidestep at the hospital.....
#like i'm giggling behind my hand making my stupid villain mc have fun whacking him around#just to then be dumb and in denial (in love) and visit him when they should NAUGHT be doing that....#also i lied. not my actual first time playing fhr i tried the demo so many years ago but the story did not grab me#until today. i can admit i may have been missing out just like i was missing out on disco elysium#but in my defense i will say ive never been into playing villains/morally dubious mcs until i made kyrtaar#AND. science fiction stories need to be REALLY REALLY good to catch my attention because normally i dont really enjoy the genre#so far it's pretty good tho. that scene with anathema in heartbreak was what finally made get into this game

#yellowart#subnautica#i feel like the timelapse is kinda long but also this did take a long time to make#anyways. let me yap about the meanings of all the panels <3#'i am creation' -> the ocean being the source of life and where shit evolved from also a good way to sort of 'set the scene' for subnautica#'both haunted' -> GHOST leviathan; in the BONE fields#'and holy' -> this one was a bit trickier. debated about using the emperor but i knew i wanted to use her elsewhere#also debated hoverfish because its cute and well liked so i thought that would be funny for 'and holy'#also something something jesus walking on water also makes it fitting. in the end though i decided on a peeper with the enzyme trail#and i *tried* to make it loop over its head like a halo but idk how well that imagery came through. still mentioned it in the alt text tho.#'made in glory' -> was REALLY torn about this one. on the one hand i wanted to have like a picture of the code because something something#divine machine and it being made out of code making it inherently holy or something; but i wasnt sure if that would be too#'immersion breaking' since most of the stuff in this is like in game stuff i wasnt sure if acknowledging that it was a game would be#too much. my other idea was to draw a couple of creature eggs like a stalker egg and a spadefish egg or something; but in the end i just#went with the one that i personally thought was cooler so if you think it does feel out of place uhhhh sorry i guess lmao.#also yes that is code from the game. idk shit about programming i just think code shit is cool so i poked though a modding tutorial til i#found what it is they use to look at that shit and started poking around. its pretty cool tbh. anyways the specific part i chose for the#drawing was something under the peepers; i think its the bit that tells the enzyme peepers to do the enzyme stuff like the trail obviously#but also some other stuff. not 100% sure though like i said idk shit about this sort of thing but everything in there seems pretty well#labeled its kinda impressive. and very helpful for navigating even if you dont know shit lol.#anyways. 'even the depths of the night cannot blind me' -> blood kelp trench is i think one of the darkest biomes in the game#possibly THE darkest so i thought it would be fitting. probably my least favorite panel though i dont think i did a very good job#representing the area or representing the bloodvines :/#'when you guide me' -> sea emperor but more specifically her messages to the player telling you to 'come here'#'creature only' -> not sure how well i can articulate this but basically the idea of humans beig animals with animal needs to eat and drink#and the idea of being a part of the ecosystem. modern life tends to make us forget that sort of thing but id imagine for ryley being on the#planet would violently remind him of this with things trying to eat him while he has to try to eat things as well. being part of the food#web. 'creature only' because he is only a creature not non-essential systems maintenance chief; but a creature living in an environment and#trying to survive. or something like that. does that make any fucking sense to anyone besides me? whatever.#anyways yapping over 👍

they both struggle with art-related physical and mental health issues, and complicated families
#outdrawn#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#sapphic books#I thought this was decent! I liked the concept (even if I got distracted by some art related things…)#and the dynamic between the characters was good. I enjoyed their relationship development broadly speaking#and the emphasis on communication; though it was a quick flip into being together all of a sudden.#The sketchbook doodle flirting was cute. Some interesting exploration of their complicated family situations too.#There’s a lot of exploration of burnout and carpal tunnel and the dangers of artists overworking which I think are important conversations#and are done with some nuance. But it’s pretty much all discussed in the context of the personal pressure they put on themselves#rather than the industry corporate greed and artificial competition created by the comic platform - which are significant in this story!#It felt odd that that connection wasn’t really ever made?#I know that this is a romance and nitpicking the background plot is beside the point and also that I am not a big romance reader#but the premise that the comic hosting site archives everything; wipes the leaderboard; and out of nowhere has a comic competition for#new weekly chapters…I’m sorry but the art world would riot. Even if people enter because they’re desperate for the cash they’d be pissed#People live off the income from their webcomics! if they were erased (temporarily) with no notice…..there would be crimes committed istg#I simply don’t believe that it would be doable to create a new weekly webcomic with no notice while you also have a full-time comic job#(especially as the only stylistic choices mentioned are full-colour) - not to mention what happened to their 8-years-running webcomics#that were archived? they don’t think about them at all after the beginning? surely they’d care about that?#And then with their new comics they make for this competition (after work I guess) we get vague snippets about them but barely anything#- if they’re consuming that much of your time I would expect to feel like they’re thinking about them all the time#rather than the vaguest discussion about genre and cast numbers only.#I guess I just think the whole comic site stunt felt unnecessary for the plot anyway -#it would have worked exactly the same if they were just competing on the normal leaderboard with their normal comics???#anyway - I’m not judging TOO hard about all that because again I know it’s not the point and maybe the industry is like that in some place#Unfortunately it was distracting enough to affect my feelings on the book tho lol.#Lastly: the audiobook………oof. The narrators talk at different speeds; for one.#And Sage’s VA does this deeply weird raspy-anime-teen-boy voice for Noah which is such an odd choice#and doesn’t match her character at all.#unforch my library only had the audiobook (what I usually prefer) so I just had to sort of….translate the narration into a normal voice lol#anyway the romance is good tho

an offleash bulldog came out of nowhere and attacked lando on our walk. I’m so fucking upset right now.
#we’re both ok but pretty shaken#she didn’t do any damage thankfully#he was so scared :( he was just trying to get away the whole time she was going after him#only attempted to bite back once when she went for his face#her owner was really apologetic when he came and got her but I’m still pissed#‘i don’t know what it is. she’s fine with most dogs but sometimes she just goes after them like that’ then why was she off leash???#lando growled at him a little when he came over to apologize which has me a little worried#he clearly just wanted to get away from it all so i don’t blame him for doing so. i just hope it’s not the start of something#i made sure to walk a bit more in the other direction and not just go straight home#he took treats again and relaxed a bit once we were far enough away#once we ran out tho i did just come back home because i was still shaking#he’s pretty on edge still and worried about what’s going on outside#he’d been doing so good :( he was so happy to be out and about#I’m sorry buddy
