she is based on the story/universe that my friend @haydardotjpg's OCs indra and yuwei exist in! pls go checkout haydar's art he is amazing!! his ocs can be found more easily on his ig but if you're lazy this is his oc indra (cempaka's one-sided love interest) and yuwei (indra's fated lover)

also, cempaka means "magnolia" in malay!! (she gets a flower name bc my name is lilly which is also flower c:)

i accidentally had "poinsettia" flower in mind when i did this iteration instead of an actual magnolia, hence the color scheme. but yeah, this is as self-insert as it gets LOL like she's literally MEEEEEE but still very different and i love her as she is <3

at the risk of sounding controversial, the only reason people are fine and understand why Alistair is immature is because he's a man.

#they talk #it's so annoying because sometimes they have the only/last copy of a book i want so i have to order from them #their lack of customer service is bordering on fraud ... couple months ago i got a copy of the man without qualities that was supposed to b #in acceptable readable condition. when it got to me it was literally falling apart and held together with an elastic (indicating they were #aware of the problem when packing the book!) when i made a customer complaint they told me to pay 4.50 to ship the book back to them #(i paid like 7€ for the book in the first place so that obviously made no sense at all bc they would only refund me that 7€. not ensure i #would get a usable copy)#ended up buying it new at my local bookstore for like 21€ because i needed it quickly at that point #anyway now i ordered a knitting magazine (from a uk publisher that went out of print. there's a back catalog of ebooks but i didn't #really want to spend 15 pounds on an ebook and medimops had the issue i wanted for like 4.50).#today it gets here and i am like hm odd i don't recognize any of these patterns really... which one of these did i want to make again #they sent me a completely different issue. lmao. lol.#i assume they dont have the correct one in the first place and just didn't really change the listing when they put it up #customer service is already being very unhelpful. i know they are going to tell me to pay 4.50 to ship the book back to them so they can #refund me the 4.50 i paid for the pattern. landing me at -4.50 without the pattern book. so i will probably just have to #keep the magazine and accept that they fucked me. <3 great

Can I just say that I wish, I really really wish, people would quit calling 20-24 year old characters "bad" or "childish writing" for literally just... ACTING THEIR AGE?!??! Doubly if they have a disability or are specifically coded to be autistic, adhd etc.

Seriously? Is someone out there seriously implying that everyone magically matures into a grizzled, emotionally constipated war veteran the second a 19 year old crosses the threshold into their noughties?

Think real damn hard on things you did when you were younger if you're older currently. We've ALL done cringe stuff that keeps us up until the wee hours of the morning in embarrassment. Whether it be something we said or clogging up someone's toilet, puking all over the place because we partied too hard or sent literal car parts flying because you were learning to drive. You don't just snap your fingers and BAM! YOU'RE MATURE! CUE THE CELEBRATIONS!

Maturity comes from life experiences, the good times, the cringe moments and the failures. Not age. Otherwise you wouldn't have kids/teens behaving way beyond their years due to ongoing and consistent abuse/neglect, nor childish adults trying to relive their teen years at their 'prime' at the very least.

I don't care if it's a fantasy game or if it's set in the future. If a character is 21/22 I *expect* random stupidity, foot in mouth moments. I expect them to be over confident or make poor decisions at times. That's prime time to be figuring your own identity out, making yourself standalone, supporting friends via learning from said mistakes and experiences they've had. It's not supposed to be smooth or perfect.

#I may or may not be making jabs at people who dump on Andromeda's Ryder and Veilguard's Taash for being 'childish'#Can definitely vouch for Andromeda at least #For Veilguard its been stuff the youtube algorithm has been feeding me because I like games and it assumes I want to see all the negatives #Liking or disliking a character is subjective and that's fine. Not begruding that. It's the reasoning half the time that irks me #or 'criticisms'#If a character has been insulated and protected from trials/struggles/actively learning they won't have the same maturity #whereas someone who has had those experiences will often age beyond their physical years as a coping mechanism #mind you...it's not a 100% foolproof assessment #But I remember on Andromeda's release that people expected Ryder to be like Shepard #The Ryder twins were only 21 and had all opportunities to do stuff for themselves wrecked because of Alec and his research with SAM #Shepard in comparison was 28 at the start of Mass Effect and had already been through literal hell depending on their background #Ryder and Shepard were supposed to be mirrors of one another with the latter learning how to open up beyond the soldier persona #Ryder was supposed to -become- Shepard-like over time and trials #But Ryder didn't get the opportunity due to *very* bitter fandom over ME3 and wanting Shepard to play as again #tack on rushed development and pressure being put on a studio that had only ever made DLC prior and then you get issues #devs aren't completely blameless but I stick things on upper management and EA for being asses more than anything #Either way #Ryder copped it for not being mature enough then too and people ignored just how young and isolated the twins actually were from everything #Also yes I did cringe stuff too in my early 20's and yes I did have to relearn a whole bunch of stuff because autism spectrum made it worse #No i wasn't a party junkie #but yes I have sent my driving instructor's hubcap (among other things) flying #we all do and have done cringy things. it doesn't just magically stop #so no I won't expect a 21 year old to have the same level of maturity as someone who is 27/28 or older

crazy how if you google “how many job applications per week” (which you probably shouldn’t google anyway) you get one result saying doing 2-3 a day is good, one result saying doing 5-10 a day is good, and one result saying doing 11-20 a day is good. So basically, do whatever the hell you want forever

#my thing is. HOW many of these jobs are real. HOW many of these places are actually hiring #one of the 2 i did today made you answer like 15 different questions about whether you’ve ever been late for work. ummmm.no #my plan is to apply at least 20 jobs over the next ummm week or two or so #and keep in mind these are all like nothingburger minimum wage retail jobs designed for stupid individuals such as myself #and if NONE of these places want me then i will know that the job market right now is probably bad for realsies #and so between like september 14-21 i will know if i should be looking for a place to stay for october #or looking for a plane ticket back so i don’t waste money chasing something that won’t happen #and IF it’s option B then i will make my brother hire me at dunkin for a few months until a) the job market improves #or b) i have enough money saved up that i could convince some landlord to rent to me while unemployed #because my thing about the money is like. i still have everything i saved when i worked at target #and i still remember what i endured in order to save all that money. so i absolutely am not dipping into that money #until i KNOW my life is headed in the right direction #and also when i got the job at target that was literally the 4th job i applied to in like 3 months #so if i apply to like 2 dozen jobs and none of them pan out then i’ll Know the timing is wrong. the market is bad #anyway pay me no mind i’ve only been back on the west coast 24 hours #i just had to go ahead and think through every possibility before my head asploded. The wallpaper I've been aspiring to have on my walls for the last 3 years has finally been delivered ⚜️

#I've been wanting to wallpaper my walls for ages. I took it seriously in fall of 2021 too when I measured my current walls and was-#deciding between 2 pink wallpapers. Eventually I made a pro/con list & decided against the idea with the conclusion of doing it in the next #place I live in. Now that I'm moving & renovating my future room I ordered one of the 2 wallpapers I was debating back in '21 #the room is being built up from scratch and is essentially a blank slate I can decorate however #the rolls arrived today and they are exquisite!! I was so surprised with how fast the shipping was because I only made the order on Monday #and the samples took over a month to arrive. & I can't tell you how BIG of a fan I am of wallpaper. Literally best decor ever #personal

It's a bit funny that to parts of my circles I'm 'the fandom one'/'the fanfic one'/'the shipping one' as the person they know most prominently into such things

because as much as i love writing my fics and shipping my ships my interest in both of those things is, I think, very narrow and specific compared to most people who are into them? due to my habits being like. very particular

#i think some ppl think of me as ahh my buddy who is always reading fanfic and i'm like. look. i would LIKE to be that. but i'm not #it's comically difficult to get me to sit down and read a new fanfic. for no discernable reason #the fandoms i like to read for don't even have big fic scenes but i've still checked out such a narrow portion of them #(and these fandoms are like. just a few. leaving aside MiA's dead tag. LOGH + T&B + Vorkosigan + ...anything else here would be a lie)#(Queen's Thief + Temeraire + TMA are on the backburner rn for reading fic but they were faves before yet i read SO little of what existed)#(everything else i just check out very occasionally or when directly recc'd)#i think mmmaaaybe 'my buddy who reads tons of fic' would be the case if there were new fics about the sages coming out every day #they're sort of a unique hyperfixation for me lol #but there are NOT. instead there are ((checks))#four (4) english language belavue fics on AO3 that are not by me #AND two of them i would say do not actually have any ship content and were likely just tagged that to be safe #as far as non ship content there are ((checks again)) 21 English language fics tagged with Belaf and I wrote 13 of them ........#(and 17 for Vueko and i wrote 10. two of the others barely mention her and shouldn’t be tagged lol) …guys i'm starving............#ok you read to the bottom of the tags you get to hear a selfish wish #i kind of hope that someday...someone will...write some fic about the sages either because of me or for me #gen or ship it doesnt matter #but this kind of thing usually happens in AO3 exchanges though and there aren't ones in this fandom because the fic scene is so miniscule #i'm literally running one right now off AO3 but have a feeling it will end up being mostly art and also didn't put myself in as a requester #since the people participating have largely made stuff for me as gifts before and i have a glut of lovely work from them #and again that exchange will mostly end up being art i feel and not fic. but some other time... i still wish ... more fic... pleae..plaeabs #there are very specific reasons i don't want to host an MiA fic exchange through AO3. i can guess the kind of stuff some people will reques #(the kind of stuff that's already in the tag.) and it's not stuff i feel like moderating an exchange involving >_> so i won't #but god.. ... ..... someday......i hope....there can be an exchange where i ask for somethinga bout these people.............
