They burst through the doors at the end of the darkest corridor, and the dark-skinned Jedi that had been holding up a purple lightsaber froze. Anakin took in the sight before him, took in the red-and-black man that kneeled before him, cuffed and drugged and stripped to the waist, those yellow and red eyes staring at the two that had just burst into the room with something akin to incredulity.

Anakin could also see something on that heavily patterned skin that he hadn’t before, something he couldn’t have seen until this moment, bathed as he was in a purple glow.

Scars, so many scars, rising up in the flesh, crisscrossing his back, scars that Anakin had seen before, that he knew. They were scars that crossed his.

There were other scars there, too, and those were worse.

Anakin moved without thinking, running forward to stand before the man on his knees, his arms spreading out as he turned to regard the other.

“Don’t kill him!”

BM Lightsabers has the Legendary Mace Windu Lightsaber

Choke (and die): Mace Windu is inherently more violent than other Jedi and that’s why he’s good at fighting

Broke: Mace Windu uses Vaapad as the main mechanism to manage his anger

Woke: Mace Windu is cooler than everyone, and that’s why he can use Vaapad where other people can’t

Bespoke: Mace Windu spent many years learning to manage his emotions, including an especially complicated relationship with protective anger, before ever thinking about developing a new lightsaber form, and that’s why the council was willing to grant him the exception to study Juyo and why he was able to develop Vaapad and use it better than anyone else

Broke: the Jedi council is rigid and unwilling to make reasonable exceptions

Even more broke: Mace Windu and Ki-Adi Mundi were both the recipients of massive exceptions but this is because of favouritism. The reason the council didn’t want to give Anakin whatever exceptions he wanted is because they hate him

Woke: the council is perfectly willing to make exceptions when the person asking for them is trustworthy and responsible enough to handle them

okay sooooo

am I the only one who actually prefers the lore that says that Jedi collect their crystals and then meditate with them and that's what gives the crystal it's colour??? (i certainly hope not)

i know it's a thing in the comic books where characters just pick out a crystal with the color already ingrained into it and there's nothing more to it but I feel like half the reason lightsabers are cool to me is because they actually tell you something about the user, they tell you their preferences in combat, how they view the force and sometimes even how deadly they can be

do I wanna believe mace windu just found a purple crystal or do I wanna believe he got this rare color because he uses dark side tactics but has the ability not to be blinded by them?

the first time I saw Anakin's lightsaber was blue I thought it was very telling about who he was and I believe that it was actually the first hint to his dark tactics and eventually his fall to the sith (even if it was by accident this is my interpretation).

how could the chosen one, the person with the most midi-chlorians, a person who has incredible force potential, uses a blue lightsaber instead of a green one? it is so accurate to his character because blue means you prefer using your saber to using the force in combat, they're also usually the first to pull them out and the ones to do it without hesitating to anyone anywhere.

i just thought it was perfect, that paired with an aggressive style, it was right under their noses

Random Star Wars thought:

I noticed that in the Skywalker trainee line there is a strong family resemblance.

Not physically though, I mean by their lightsabers.

Obi-wan’s first lightsaber looks similar Qui-gon’s, Anakin’s first saber looks a lot like Yoda’s shoto, Ahsoka’s first lightsabers look like Anakin’s second one, Luke and Leia’s sabers look like Obi-wan’s, and Ashoka’s white lightsabers are curved like Count Dooku’s.

Now in the Ezra trainee line, the family resemblance does not carry on as well, but their lightsabers are really cool.

Mace Windu and Depa Billaba. I think Depa’s saber is gorgeous! I love it.

Kanan and Ezra’s look most similar, though not as much at first. Once Ezra lost his gunsaber, his next one looked a lot more like Kanan’s. His final saber looks the most like his master.

Having an incredible vision of a world where "igniting a lightsaber" is a bit more literal of a phrase, and lightsabers are like blowtorches, where you turn on the gas and then light it with another flame.

Please just imagine count Dooku with a fancy metal cigarette lighter for this purpose,

Anakin always loses his lighter and has to ask R2-D2 to light his saber with the flamethrower he installed,

Obi-Wan always just pulls a single match out of his pocket and holds it up like it's the last one he has but it never actually is

Qui-Gon and Yoda have both lit their sabers with a blunt at some point (idk if actually possible i am not a cool kid but shhh they are space wizards)

Initiates all have to line up to have an instructor light their training sabers

Going to Ilum to get your kyber crystal is accompanied by (another) lesson on fire safety

Wookies and other furry species have some kind of safety lighter probably

Aquatic species use some other form of weapon i guess? or have like sci-fi greek fire idk

Some Jedi believe that if there is no naturally available source of flame than it's not the will of the Force to light their sabers at all

A common gift from masters to padawans is their first lighter or maybe there would be a pair of beads designed to create sparks (kept on padawan braid/strings as a back up)

Mace always uses the spark beads (shatterpoint imagery you get me)

Depa does the same as Mace, for the aesthetic (she didn't get a purple lightsaber but she can have this ok), and teaches Caleb the same (he keeps his beads into the empire, even though he has to hide them)

Luke also uses R2,

Pre-war Jedi don't even light their sabers that often, and this is why those rumors about Jedi all using death-sticks started, since very few outsiders know why they actually carry lighters

Sidious lights his with lightning (which sounds cool but actually it backfires and blows up in his face at least 50 percent of the time)

Maul just has an actual blowtorch he uses to light his saber, which

If the Jedi try and deny the death stick rumors than new rumors start that they're all pyromaniacs, so they don't really bother.
