Yeah so the clip … I think one of the reasons I’ve never really clicked with Macbeth (as a play I respect it but it doesn’t excite me) is that I don’t have strong feelings about Macbeth the character one way or the other. But one clip in I’m like … okay I’m turning this around in my mind. Okay. How would my perspective on this play shift if its characters made me feel real actual emotions. Hmm. Okay now.

Anyway can’t wait for my understand of Macbeth to be revolutionised when I go see it in November.

Right! macbeth was my least favorite of the big shakespeare plays before this - this guy's motivations and evolution really never clicked for me. It was always played like "oh no he's corrupted by his evil wife and doesn't really have any real motive of his own" and this production is like...being evil is a fun little project you can do when your marriage is feeling shaky because you've been away for too long.

And it strikes me too that he is in Xanato's office here. I think this implies that he does not have access to these feeds in his own office; otherwise, he would be there. I'm trying to suss out what I make of that because I think Xanatos implicitly trusts Owen, so it's not a matter of trust that the feed only runs to Xanatos's office. Perhaps it is simply that if Owen ever needed to be privy to live footage of the castle, he would be with Xanatos in his office for it anyway where they would be able to discuss what they see so there's no reason to have it routed to Owen's office as well.
