Eustass Kid Fluff // Angst Compilation
Summary: A compilation of Eustass Kid angst and fluff from my multi character posts (You're Wounded, Brushing Your Teeth Together, Flowers, Type of Date, You See His Cabin, Fighting and Making Up, Paradise, Nightmares, I Love You, You're Jealous).
Genre: Fluff // Angst
CW: None // SFW
———
You’re Wounded:
Lectures you on your fighting form, tears into you for taking any unnecessary risks, gets on your case about not seeking medical attention fast enough. Tells you to get some rest, sits at your bed side until you’re better, claims he’s not there for you and is just resting his own eyes.
Brushing Your Teeth Together:
Was always too ADHD to stand in front of the mirror for a full minute brushing his teeth, always ended up wandering around the ship while brushing and then forgetting to finish; only started staying put when you began joining him.
Flowers:
If it’s at the point where he’s buying flowers, this man is so far beyond pride he won’t flinch at purchasing a bundle of pink tulips, even if they clash with his outfit/aesthetic. He also presents you one night with a bouquet of metal flowers he made himself. He spent ages on it, but he really didn’t mean to. He intended to make one but got absorbed in his work and made an entire bundle of dainty little metal flowers. He’s oddly proud of himself for making something so delicate and would be crushed if you ever got rid of them.
Type of Date:
He’ll take you to a concert, best seats in the house. He would prefer rock, but he’ll go to any concert you want. Honestly has no qualms about pulling up to an Ariana Grande or Taylor Swift concert with you, won’t go so far as to learn the lyrics but will nod his head and dance with you because he doesn’t believe people should be ashamed of their music taste (that being said, he can’t help but be embarrassed by just how much he likes Olivia Rodrigo; Sour is punk rock and Brutal is his favorite song, no matter what Killer says). He’ll buy you two matching t-shirts, too.
You See His Cabin For The First Time:
It’s as messy and ostentatious as you’d expect, but he sheepishly tries to fold the leopard-print blanket crumpled on the bed and put some laundry in the hamper, though you quickly deduce he has no clue which clothes belong in the hamper and which go in his closet. It’s shocking to see him care what someone thinks. He has a pile of lipstick and nail polish on his desk and an impressive collection of weapons he’s stolen from various pirates; he could probably open a museum with all the weapons he has. Also has lots of tools he forgot were in there. TBH, he’s probably as shocked as you are by the state of his cabin because he spends most of his alone time in his workshop, anyway.
Fighting and Making Up:
Actually loves to fight, lives to butt heads. Has a notoriously bad temper, meaning the two of you often fight. Serious fights usually happen because his temper got him into trouble. The number of arguments you’ve had while you’re patching him up because he got in a nasty bar is unreal. Your argument always over something stupid, at least in his opinion. He usually ends up storming off and locking himself in his workshop because he doesn’t want to yell at you too much but he’s furious with you and still has a bunch of adrenaline flowering through his bloodstream from his last fight. Alternately, he’ll start fights with you when feels like you’re keeping something from him, even if it’s something small, because it drives him crazy and he thinks you should be an open book. He's not really the jealous type when it comes to physical stuff, but he does get upset when you seem to have an emotional or intellectual connection with someone else, and that can cause some arguments. Oh, and fights are most definitely foreplay, so you can conclude how the two of you make up.
Paradise 1:
Waking up to fresh powder blanketing the ground and jumping out of bed, barely getting your boots and one of his coats on before you’re outside, romping through the snow. Falling into a snow bank with your arms out, giggling as you make a snow angel, grinning even wider when he surprises you by laying down beside you and doing the same, letting his inner child show through for a brief moment.
Paradise 2:
Escaping the chaos of life and climbing a desolate hill, sharing a late afternoon snack as you stare up at the clouds and point out different shapes, saying, “that’s you,” when you see a funny one. Arguing over which one of you gets to be the dragon cloud, your argument turning into roughhousing and the two of you accidentally rolling down the hill, him laughing and kissing your cheek when he knows you’re okay and then starting the argument again.
Nightmares:
It’s never like it happened with his first love, Victoria. And it’s always some way new. You fall overboard during a storm and drown, Kid diving into the water to save you but sinking due to his devil fruit ability, Killer diving in to save him but leaving you to die. You get deathly ill and he enlists the help of his ally, Trafalgar Law, to save your life, but he betrays Kid and kills you. He gets captured by a crew of enemy pirates, and when the crew comes to save him, you get killed in the crossfire. The nightmares just keep coming like this, you dying because he couldn’t protect you or expected someone else to do it for him. And each time he wakes up, it is with a renewed certainty that the only way to keep you safe is to do it himself.
I Love You:
You say it first. You say it a couple of times, actually, before you ever hear it back. You’re sitting in his workshop watching him build something, and you just sort of blurt the words out. You swear Kid hesitates before picking up the next piece of metal, but he gives no real acknowledgment you uttered those three words. Knowing exactly the sort of man he is and not expecting to receive anything in return, just wanting him to know how you feel in the moment, you aren’t actually offended, but you are wondering if he didn’t hear you. So, the next day in his workshop, you say it again, once more receiving no response. The third time you say it to him, catching him while he’s painting his nails, you receive a grunt in response (Kid is a man of grunts, not a man of words). Only in the heat of battle do you hear it back. He catches you around the waist and picks you up, and you fight thinking it’s an enemy, only for him to say, “I love you,” in your ear before deflecting a canon ball headed straight for the two of you and then setting you on your feet like nothing happened. From that point forward, he’ll say it, but only at inopportune times.
You’re Jealous:
He doesn’t ever talk about his first love, Victoria. In fact, you didn’t even know she existed until Killer got drunk one night and began speaking of his dearly departed. What he didn’t mention was that Kid, too, had been in love with her. It only comes up the next night when you mention it to Wire, who mentions it was the death of his first love, Victoria, that put Kid on the war path and united the first four members of the Kid Pirates. Realizing Wire messed up, Heat chimes in to say, “he’d do the same for you.” But you’re not convinced, mainly because Kid never told you any of this. It tears you apart, leaves you tossing and turning for nights on end, until you finally burst into Kid’s workshop one night ranting about how he doesn’t trust you and holds you at arm’s length. “Heat says you’d do the same for me, but-” Kid cuts you off and says, “I wouldn’t do the same, I’d do worse. Much, much worse.” And from the wicked gleam in his eye, you’re inclined to believe him.

pairing(s): prince! Arthur Leclerc x male! knight! reader
warning(s): hurt/comfort, mentions of injury, mentions of death, royal au! forbidden romance(?)
(a/n): kinda inspired by hozier :) changed the lyrics a bit. a short drabble for my fav leclerc
!not proofread!
"No grave can hold my body down, I'll crawl home to you."
"Your Highness," you manage out through gritted teeth, "you shouldn't get your hands dirty."
He says nothing, silently applying the green paste he made using different medicinal herbs, across your middle. "My prince," you try again. He doesn’t respond, his eyes trained on your body, careful not to hurt you.
"Arthur," your voice is soft, almost like a whisper. He looks up, his ocean eyes clashing with yours.
"I told you not to go," he whispers, a hint of betrayal. He goes back to focusing on your wounds. You smile ever so slightly. "Your Highness-" his eyes snap to you, daring you. "Arthur," you say softly, "I do not have a choice in such matters. I have to go when I am called."
He chews the inside of his cheeks. There has to be some way he could prevent you from going to battles. He was a prince after all, wasn't he? "This is what I was raised for," your voice cuts off his thoughts.
"No," he says sharply, preventing any further discussion. He gets up from where he was kneeling, using a gauze to wrap around your wounds. He moves to stand in between your legs, still careful to not hurt you.
He's close. Right within your reach. You could feel his breath across your shoulder. His body heat, warming up your naked torso. He moves the gauze over your back, taking a step back to tie it up.
He ties the final knot, his fingers grazing over your body. They're shaking, you notice. "Arthur," your hand reaches to cup his cheek, guiding his eyes to yours. "I'm here," you utter softly, "I'm fine."
"You're fine," he repeats after you, barely audible. His lower lip wobbles. You pull him in, holding him tight.
"You're fine. You're fine. You're fine..."
"My prince," you press a lingering kiss to his forehead, "breathe. Breathe with me."
He clings onto you, his arms wrapped around your broad shoulders, his face buried in the crook of your neck. He breathes, following you. In and Out. In and Out. Slowly.
He pulls away, his eyes moist. "You should lie down," he gently pushes you back on the bed. "Rest," he says. He tucks you in, leaning down to press his lips to yours.
"Stay," you catch his wrist, "Please."
He takes a seat on the bed beside you, leaning against the bed frame. You move, trying not to let out a groan. You rest your head in his lap. His hands find their way to your hair, gently playing with the strands.
"What's wrong?" you question, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Of course, you can read him like an open book. He doesn't respond, his fingers mindlessly playing with your hair.
"My love," you hold his hand, intertwining your fingers with his, "Talk to me."
"One day," he whispers, "I fear, that one day, you won't return home to me."
You say nothing. How could you? He wasn't wrong. It was a possibility. Soldiers die on the battlefield every day. And one day, sooner or later, it would be your turn.
You bring his hand to your mouth, leaving small kisses every where you could reach. "No grave can hold my body down," you murmur against his knuckles, "I'll crawl home to you."
A look into your eyes, and he knew it was the truth. You'll always come back to him.

Should I Stay Or Should I Go
My first finished lyric comic! (Well. Maybe. I might continue it).
youtube
I was torn on the last frame, since I know the lyrics are hard to read, but The Clash actually don't include that lyric at that point in the song, it's only implied. I felt it fit. So the line isn't visible there, it's just fading in and out (you know, like Fiddleford's memories. symbolism or whatever.) I considered making a new frame, but I think this gets the point I want across, and also I am tired of working on this thing.

(part 5 of November Paramedic; part 4 is here and the AO3 version is here.)
Liquid sound courses through Eddie's body. His fingers dance over Sweetheart's strings, hitting every note perfectly. Behind him, Gareth is going at the drums like a beast while Jeff and Marv have gravitated together, now playing back-to-back. In front of him, a wall of people is pogoing, restricted by The Behemoth's 'no moshing policy'. When he launches into the solo, their headbanging turns so vicious they're but a wild sea of hair with haphazard devil horns sticking up. Solo over, he grabs the mic to roar the outro lyrics.
The audience screams; Eddie's ears ring. His veins hold more adrenaline than blood and his life has never been better.
"Thank you! You've been glorious tonight!" He sweeps his sweat-soaked hair from his face and winks at a cluster of girls in the front row. "We're Corroded Coffin and you'll see us here again soon. For now, thank you and good night!"
On his way off the stage, he catches one of the girls' hand and drops a kiss on her palm. She beams, face pink, as her friends shriek.
It's not his favorite thing about performing. He likes playing on stage because of the release, because of the building nervosity that erupts with the music. He likes it because it's fun. But the electricity between him and the crowd? The charged looks of pure want from men and women alike?
It doesn't make it worse. He's not burdened by being desired.
They congratulate each other outside as they deposit their guitars and few pieces of personal equipment in Eddie's van. Gareth is especially bouncy, telling Eddie over and over how he was great, he was on fire, he was invincible. Eddie would've questioned the post-show hype if he hadn't immediately demanded they go back inside for drinks; if Gareth thinks he can flatter himself into a free round, he's correct.
After the fresh June night, the air inside The Behemoth is stiflingly hot. It plus the hum of the patrons leave a cloying buzz in the back of his head. He might only stay for the one round before going home. Possibly two if those front-row ladies decide to pay; they're eyeing him right now. Sure, they're not Eddie's type, but that's what the other guys are there for.
Except when the women approach, Gareth shuts them off by pulling Marv in between them and steering Eddie in the opposite direction. Pushing Eddie forward, seemingly uncaring if Jeff and Marv keep up, he goes on his tip toes and hops every other step to peer above the crowd.
"Are you looking for someone?" Eddie asks.
"Noo, I just thought I saw someone at the bar…"
"Yeah, that means you're looking for someone, dipshit. Who is it?"
"It's… Uh…" Gareth says inattentively, scanning the bar area.
A large hand clamps around Eddie's shoulder, turning him around. He promptly swallows his tongue.
"Dude, you were great!" Steve says, smiling so big it could sustain a small country with power for the winter.
His hair is fluffy tonight, lying in a soft swoop. He's wearing a charcoal Henley, sleeves rolled to his elbows, tufts of chest hair peeking out from between the undone buttons. And he's got glasses on. Fucking glasses. Thin wireframes, an elegant complement to his beautiful face and delicate contrast to his hunky everything else.
Eddie's reply is strangled nonsense that drowns in Gareth's shouted, "Hey! You made it!"
"Yeah, man! Thanks for the invite!" Steve says, extending his hand for a shake.
"Anytime, dude! S'great to see you," Gareth replies, slapping and grabbing Steve's hand in a perfectly executed man-shake. Like they're a pair of fucking frat bros.
But that isn't the important part. No, the important part here is the word 'invite'. Who, when, where, and above all what the fuck??
"We loved it!" Robin says from half behind Steve. Because of course she's also here, wearing a patterned blazer that should clash with her differently patterned button down, yet doesn't. She continues gushing about the performance as Steve nods along and the rest of the band interject their gratitude whenever she pauses for breath for longer than a second. Eddie is the only one who hasn't said a peep.
He needs to fucking peep.
"Glasses!"
His exclamation has the others turn and stare so fast their necks snap. He ignores Gareth's snicker, cheeks burning. One of these days he will run into Steve without acting like a fool, but not today.
"What?" Steve says, his already huge eyes magnified by the glass. Damn, his lashes are long and dark.
"Y-You got glasses. I didn't know that."
Steve's brows jump, as if he forgot he's wearing them. He briefly goes cross-eyed as he tries to look at the spectacles resting on his nose. Then he lets out a giggle that's so cute it hurts.
"Oh, yeah. I usually wear contacts, but they expired and the new ones haven't arrived yet." He scratches beneath his eye, pushing the glasses askew. "I'd just wear the expired ones, but…"
"No!" Robin snaps. "It's bad for your eyes!"
"Yeah."
"You need to take care of yourself!"
Steve levels her with an unimpressed look, cocked eyebrow and pursed, plush lips included. "That's rich coming from someone who stopped eating halfway through an Alfred Hitchcock marathon because she didn't want to pause Saboteur to go grocery shopping."
Robin puts a scandalized hand to her chest. "I'm a linguist, not a medic. I can do whatever I want."
"That's not-"
"Anyway!" She smiles at Eddie and the guys. "You rocked. We had a blast. Steve even danced."
"That wasn't dancing. I was keeping you from faceplanting when you tripped over your own feet."
"Steve, go buy us drinks," Robin says.
"Why me?"
"They brought the entertainment; we'll bring the refreshments. And I'm broke. So chop-chop!"
She claps twice an inch from his nose tip. Steve rolls his eyes, but obliges, striding off toward the bar. Robin emits a witchlike cackle at getting her way.
Eddie elbows Gareth in the ribs hard, gritting out, "You invited them, huh?"
Gareth grins impishly even as he rubs the most certainly bruising spot. However, Robin's villainous glee melts away; she frowns.
"Is that a problem?" she asks.
Shit.
"Oh, no, no!" he says.
"Never!" Gareth shouts.
"New faces in the audience is always a cause for celebration," Marv says.
"He just didn't expect to see you, is all." Jeff steps between Eddie and Robin, wearing a disarming smile. "Gareth didn't tell any of us we had special guests waiting, but it's great to have you here. I'm Jeff."
Robin hums and appraises them with suspicion, eyes lingering on Eddie. Then she smiles; it would've been pleasant if it wasn't so sharp.
"Let's grab a table," she says.
They pick one in the quieter part of the bar. The booths don't fit more than four people, five if you're determined, but they solve it by having Gareth perch on the adjacent window ledge and by Robin sitting on Steve's lap.
It's first when Robin asks for details about the band that Eddie realizes how golden the opportunity is. The previous times he's met Steve, he's been at a disadvantage. Injured, caught by surprise, distracted by tight jeans or sweat rolling down necks. And yeah, he was surprised today, too. And he won't claim that it's easy to focus whenever Steve reaches for his glass, exposed forearm flexing with the movement.
Nevertheless, this is Eddie's turf. This is his stage. Here, he is king. And he will hold court like his life depends on it.
He talks about the band. He talks about their influences, about guitars, about the lyrics he writes. Robin participates in the conversation by making connections to punk music, but Steve only listens, eyes darting between them all like it's a five-way ping pong match and his attention is the ball. But mostly, he's in Eddie's palm, staring like only he has the answers. Fuck, like he is the answer.
It's enough to give a guy a god complex. The person who was created to be looked at is now looking at him.
It makes him bolder. Makes him touch Steve more, touch him longer. Close the distance between them when he speaks and zeros in on Steve's lips when he replies. And Steve… responds? He thinks? It's difficult to tell, because Steve's reciprocal touches are restricted by the lapful of Robin, and he seems to have a habit of looking at everyone's mouth when they talk. The boys appear optimistic, though, sending him encouraging signals from across the table and the window. He'll just have to use it as fuel and keep on trucking.
Somewhere along the way they move on to D&D. Steve remains enrapt by Eddie's every word, hanging on to the golden threads he spins. His only actual contribution comes at the end, asking if their game has space for one more. Eddie’s pulse jumps in his throat.
"Methinks we do." He leans back, exposing his neck, while giving Steve his best bedroom eyes from above the rim of his glass. "Why, you interested?"
"Not me," Steve says; Eddie barely has the willpower to smack his head against the table with disappointment. "But Lucas plays. Or he used to. His… what's the term? His group?"
"Party," Jeff says.
"Party. They're scattered all over the world now. I think he misses it."
"He hasn't said anything about it, but…" Robin trails off. Steve jostles her.
"You never talk about band, but you miss the trumpet like hell, don't you?"
"Ugh, I dooooooo!" she says, kicking her legs.
"We can bring him aboard and see how he fits," Eddie says. "If he so wishes."
Steve smiles like Eddie just promised Lucas a kidney. "Thanks."
Eddie gulps a large mouthful of beer to wet his drying mouth. "Anything for you."
They leave soon after that for food. Gareth especially needs it, starting to become tipsy on his stomach of nothing but beer. Although, outside, it becomes clear he passed 'tipsy' a while back when he climbs onto Jeff's back and yells, "Race!"
Jeff laughs as he hikes Gareth farther up. Robin glances at Steve, then spins away and mounts Marv's back instead.
"I promise I'm lighter than I look," she says.
"You look as light as your namesake," Marv says; she gently smacks his shoulder.
"Don't flatter me; I'm immune."
Gareth, holding Jeff’s hoodie like it's a horse's reins, points to the 7-Eleven sign glowing faintly in the distance. "Onward!"
Marv whinnies realistically enough for Robin to guffaw, and then they're off, their shoes clomping against the pavement and they howling with laughter. Still by the bar, Eddie and Steve share a giggle before following suit at a slower pace.
"Ah, youngsters," Eddie says dreamily.
Steve knocks their shoulders together. "You're not that much older."
"Well… Gareth's turning 21 and I'm 25, so a bit?"
"I'm also the oldest in my friend group." Steve shrugs. "It happens."
Gravel crunch beneath their soles. The air is cool and the sky is yellow with light pollution. Indianapolis is alive and full of noise, but their bubble has space for only them to walk side by side, close enough to touch but not doing so. They have an approximate ten-minute walk until they reach the convenience store. Unless the others return to them, that's ten minutes alone.
Eddie must use them wisely.
"So… how long have you been a paramedic?"
"Oh, um." Steve scratches his neck. "It's been almost four years. I'd actually been certified for less than a year when I got asked to be in that calendar. Not even a year in and I'm supposed to represent paramedics as a whole." He chuckles, mumbling, "That was fun."
"Did you make anything from it?"
"No. Every cent went to charity. Can't remember the name of it, but they provide vaccines to children in developing countries. Measles, polio, hepatitis, tetanus. That sort of stuff."
"Is this your childhood dream then?"
"Nah. I didn't want to be anything when I was a kid. When teachers asked what we wanted to be when we grew up I just said I wanted to be like my dad. He's the CEO of a huge electronics company. Mom is a socialite and philanthropist. They wanted me to inherit the company, but I…" Steve pulls a sigh from deep in his chest, throwing his head back to watch the starless sky. "I was a meathead jock. More interested in being keg king than keeping up my grades. Only reason I graduated on time was Nancy – we used to date. She's a study-beast. Makes great flashcards. Anyway, there's no way I'd ever get into a university good enough for my parents. I wasn't interested in the business degree dad wanted for me; I didn't even bother applying for college. It felt like a waste of time."
Eddie whistles, drawn out and low. "Bet they were thrilled when they found out."
Steve laughs humorlessly. "Yeah. Dad forced me to work this shitty retail job because of it." He halts, drawing himself up and pulling his mouth down. Giving Eddie the most disdainful look he's received, he says in a voice too pompous to be his own, "'If you don't follow the path to the top I laid out for you you'll end up here, at the bottom'." He rolls his eyes, himself again. "That's what he was saying. It backfired on him, because that's where I met Robin. Spent six months on that job, being a fucking aimless disappointment, and then…"
"Then?" Eddie asks, and now it's him desperately grasping at the thread. He needs to know. Anything Steve is willing to give, Eddie will accept.
Steve chews the inside of his cheek. Head hanging, hair falling into his face and glasses sliding down his nose, he resembles a model from an art student's angst-ridden project. Or maybe a movie star in an independent art house film. He just looks like art, okay? Beautiful and out of reach, which only makes you want to touch him more.
"It's kinda private," he says. "For Robin, I mean. The point is it opened my eyes to emergency services. I knew that was something I'd like to do. With some encouragement from her… I did it." He smiles at Eddie like they're sharing secrets. "Turns out studying is more fun when you're interested in the curriculum. My parents disowned me, but it's worth it. I'm as far away from being him as I can come."
He slows his steps then, face sobering before he barks a shocked laugh. The apples of his cheeks are pink.
"Fuck, that just flew out! I'm not usually like this; it's Robin who can't put a cork in it." He laughs again, softer, and levels Eddie with a gaze that borders on adoring. "You're easy to talk to."
Eddie nods. His lungs are burning, he must gasp for breath before speaking. "It's a finely honed skill…"
He swallows, licking his lips. Anything Steve is willing to give, he wants to give back. To take and give. To know and to be known.
He chokes out, "I almost turned into my dad."
"Yeah?" Steve says casually, unaware of the knife Eddie just plunged into his own chest and cut himself open with. "What's he?"
"Prison."
"What?"
Eddie nods breezily. He puts his trembling hands into his jacket pockets. "Petty stuff, but it stacks up. He taught me a few things, though, so if you ever need to hotwire your car or pick a lock… I'm your guy!"
He pulls out his hands to point at himself with both thumbs before shoving them back in. His voice is shriller, and his body's getting the jitters. Can't be still, can't shut up, and now Steve is eyeing him with… sadness? Not disgust, at least, or mistrust.
"But you're a mechanic now, right?" Steve says.
"Yeah. Learned it from my uncle – he took me in after the ol' sperm donor got caught. Greatest man I know, my uncle. I was a crap student," Eddie says, because why not. What's this after divulging about his dad? Nothing! Might as well disclose his aptitude for crime and philistinism. "Completely aimless. Still am. Redid senior year twice."
"Shit."
Grimacing with empathy, Steve sidles up until their elbows brush. A smidgen of tension leaves Eddie as he leans into Steve's warmth.
"Uh-huh. My peers started looking at colleges and all I thought was 'death before higher education!' So, I used my savings to move to Indy and got a job at a garage. It's not what I strictly want, but it pays the bills. Keeps me housed."
"What do you want?" Steve asks, like he wants to know and not just to be polite.
Eddie balloons his cheeks and puffs out the air. "I don't know. I'm passionate about music, but mostly as a hobby. Doing it professionally seems like it sucks. It's all I got, though. That and D&D."
"That's okay." Steve throws an arm around Eddie, and then they're flush. Ribs to ribs. Not an inch separating them. Close enough for Steve's skin to vibrate with Eddie's heartbeat. "You have time to figure it out. And being a mechanic in the meantime is great."
"It-It's not as meaningful as saving lives…" Eddie says, shaking his hair forth so it curtains his face.
Steve hooks the curls around his finger and tucks them back behind Eddie's ear. Holy shit. If Eddie hadn't been clinging to Steve, his jelly-legs would've collapsed and made him eat asphalt.
Steve's gorgeous grin still sends him stumbling a step.
"Sure it is. I bet you've saved someone." Steve leans in, breath ghosting across Eddie's cheekbone as he murmurs, "You'd save me. I know how to change tires and check the oil, but if it's something else? I'm screwed."
Eddie turns his head; their noses nearly bump. Steve's gaze flicks from his eyes to his mouth, indecisive. It chooses his mouth when he pokes his tongue out and drags it over his lips.
"Don't worry, big boy," he says, voice gravelly from use and their proximity. "If you're ever in trouble, just come to me and I'll take care of your engine."
Steve's breath hitches; he flinches back. For a moment Eddie's sure he went too far. But then Steve giggles like a schoolgirl. He ducks his head, face flaming red.
"Cool," he says weakly. "If you ever… heh, I was going to say 'if you ever need the kiss of life, come to me', but… don't." He's leveled himself with Eddie again and is looking at him sternly, though the effect is somewhat ruined by the humor glittering behind his glasses. "Don't ever get fatally injured. Okay?"
Eddie runs a hand down Steve's back, feels him shiver, and looks at him from beneath his lashes. "I make no promises."
A minute later they're caught up with their friends, who are very kind not to comment on how they're plastered to each other.
They buy their food – subs, nachos, chips, cookies, and juice, Steve paying for Robin's after she begs – and wander back to the parking lot by the bar. As a group, so no more clingy cuddling. Just as well, because Eddie's hot enough to erupt if touched again.
Steve didn't get the memo, though, because when they're saying goodnight and about to climb into their respective cars, he pulls Eddie into a hug. A real hug. Two-armed, chest-to-chest, sniffing-the-other-person's-hair kind of hug.
"S'been fun tonight," he says, squeezing Eddie tightly. "This is gonna sound sappy, but I'm glad we ran into each other again."
Ran into each other again.
Ran into each other.
It's a barrel of ice water over Eddie's head. His whole body constricts, shoulders hiking to his ears, jaw clenching. Because they've never actually done that, have they? They ran into each other once, but never again. Every single one of their meetings since has been orchestrated. Made to happen to satisfy Eddie’s obsessive crush. And Steve has no idea.
He doesn't know Eddie is a capital-letters-only FREAK. He doesn't know Eddie gets his rocks off to charity calendars. Fuck, he doesn't know about the calendar.
He has to know. If there's anything Eddie has learned from his millions of failed relationships, it's that there are things you have to know, and this is one of them. Because what'll happen if Steve finds out years from now from someone who isn't Eddie? A shit show, that's what!
Eddie wants for it to be a 'years from now'. He wants to feel Steve's hugs and see his eyes behind thin wire glasses. He wants to smell Steve's shampoo and hear his voice go soft as it says the names of the people he loves.
He wants to take and to give. To know and be known.
Steve has to know.
But how will Eddie tell him?

The Clash - “Straight to Hell” b/w “Should I Stay or Should I Go” (1982)
Forty-two years ago today, on September 17, 1982, the double A-side single of “Straight to Hell” b/w “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by the Clash was released. “Straight to Hell,” a protest song that decries social injustice in England as well as the pain of colonialism abroad, failed to perform particularly well on the charts, but the song’s unusual beat and melancholic lyrics make it a standout among the band’s oeuvre. The B-side, “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” on the other hand, became one of band’s biggest hits. In its initial release, it went top 20 on the UK charts and peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, after it was featured in a UK commercial for Levi’s, the song was reissued in 1991 and made the top 10 in over ten countries, including topping the charts in the UK.

Neil Josten Playlist
FINALLY! Posting about one of the playlists for a character I kin, Neil "I'm fine" Josten.
I mentioned this on my Buck (911) post, but characters who spend a considerable amount of time "on the road" are the most fun for me to make playlists for, because I think travel lends itself to a character having a wider range of music they enjoy. This is one of my least sonically cohesive playlists, but I think that fits Neil's vibe.
Bittersuite and Blue back to back off of HIT ME HARD AND SOFT (one of my favorite albums of the year) are literally lyrically about Neil. Like Billie, did you read AFTG? "I've been overseas, I've been having dreams." Like okay.
A Neil playlist classic, Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash.
Just like my Andrew playlist, there is a little bit of The Growlers on here, Blood of a Mutt and Magnificent Sadness. I think they discovered/listen to them together.
I take great joy in being able to add anything off the Blood album by Kelsey Lu on character playlists, however it's definitely best suited here. Lyrically, conceptually, this album fits Neil so well. The idea of leaving home, finally having the space from the people who raised you to revaluate the relationship you had with them (thinking of his mom here), and the fear of self discovery in the face of independence all fit him really well. This album front to back, besides its opener, is about Neil. I didn't put all of it on here, but if you love our little ginger boy I recommend listening to it in full.
HUMBLE. by Kendrick Lamar is on here mostly because I think it's hilarious. I've debated putting euphoria on here as well, though that song feels too ingrained in its real world context. However, you can't tell me it doesn't give "Neil telling Riko off" energy.
Other highlights for me are Living Room (an Andreil song for sure), Run Boy Run, Fourth of July, Young Folks, Plateau - Live (Andrew put him on, see my Andrew post), Hayloft, and True Blue.
I hope someone enjoys this playlist :)

Hey!! It's the byler music fairy!! What are the songs you most associate with byler, Will, and/or Mike, and why??💙💛🎶🎵🧚♀️
Oooooh thats a great question that I’m veeery happy to answer to !!! I actually have three playlist on Spotify specifically on this (Byler, Mike and Will)
So bear with me I will try to make it short x’D
Byler
For them the first that come to mind is Heroes by David Bowie no one can convince me that’s it’s not their canon song in the serie, the lyrics are just perfect and I could bet money that they will kiss in season 5 with this music in background “And we kissed as though nothing could fall” it’s just way too perfect. Secondly I associate them a lot with Seven by Taylor Swift, the lyrics are just so perfectly them !! Or even Spark Fly, a lot of Taylor’s song are very byler coded to me- Like I said I have a whole playlist with songs like Daylight by Taylor Swift, Me and Michael by MGMT, The light that never goes out by The Smiths and such, for a long time I could listen to nearly anything and still link it with them x’D
Mike
For him I actually have a few song that I can’t listen to without thinking about him; Tarzan boy by Baltimore and Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat The first being in the serie and the second on Mike’s official playlist, they’re literally about gay boys trying to live in the 80’s, wishing for liberty and escaping their city to live freely (and find love) These songs are Mike‘s, i do also think about him when listening to songs like Dollhouse by Melanie Martinez, the lyrics really describe the wheeler family, but there’s so much more songs that I can’t add because it would be too much x’D There’s so many song like Michael in the bathroom that I associate with him because if edits
Will
Again for him there’s so many song that I can’t listen to without thinking about him, firstly and obviously Should I stay or should I go by The Clash and Boy’s don’t cry by The cure as the first one is canonically his song and the second very much hinted to be important 👀 so honestly no need to explain those very much except the fact that the lyrics speak by themselves. Secondly I do think A LOT about him listening to nearly every Conan Gray song there’s an invisible link between them I can’t shake off, Heather, Family line, Summer child ??? So Will coded !! And songs like Iris by the goo goo dolls or Elastic heart by Sia ?? ALL TOO WELL BY TS ?! Forever linked to will in my head because if edits and fanfictions 😭
I swear there’s so many songs that remind me of him, of Mike or of both of them I can’t even start to list it, those two gays really rot my brain for so long that every song was a byler song if I tried hard enough (most of the time I didn’t even try I just listened and “oh very ____ coded” and that for monthhhs, now it’s not the same anymore as I have more diverse interest and I think of diverse characters listening to music but I swear there’s so many song that could have been written for them 😭🫶

More song suggestions:
(Not sure what you like but this is nice stuff I like to listen to that’s engaging enough for a head bop but not distracting)
Blame Brett (the beaches)
HOT TO GO! (Chappell Roan)
Pink Panther (Scene Queen)
DIRT (Zoe Ko)
Obsessed (Olivia Rodrigo)
Bad idea! (Girl in red)
Should I stay or should I go (the clash)
The remedy (Jason Mraz)
First Rate Town (good kid)
For the girls (Haley kioko)
Drunk voicemail (pompom squad)
I have more but don’t wanna flood you lol
Glhf and lmk what you think :]
I listened to all of these today. There are too many songs to give my thoughts on all of them without making this post too long. My top three were:
"Drunk Voicemail" - The lyrics were surprising-- in a good way, I think? The emotion in this song resonated with me for some reason. Very, very good.
"Obsessed" - I surprised myself with how much I like this one. I'd like to listen to more music by her, I actually really like her energy.
"The Remedy" - I enjoyed the hopefulness of this song. Kudos to this song for having the word "liaison" in it, it felt like a shout out.
I appreciate you sharing your music taste with me. You single handedly made my playlist about forty minutes longer-- which is incredibly impressive. Don't be afraid to share more if you are ever so inspired.
-Gwen B.

I may be delusional, I may be not, BUT I was rewatching the shed scene and it hit me. Will found a way to communicate with others through Morse code. Jonathan played the mixtape with "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by the Clash on it and started talking - Will transmitted "C." The next person we see speaking to Will is Mike, telling him about one of their DnD campaigns AND the letter Will transmitted is a capital L.
The phrase was "CLOSE GATE" and the writers chose to tell Mike the story while Will was saying the letters L, O and S in code. Then We have Joyce with the rest of the phrase. LO [ve] and S while Mike was saying "You saved us. You saved the whole party." But I want to focus on that capital L. It looks like the authors made a choice for Mike to speak while that letter appeared.
Now, why does it make sense for Mıke to speak at that very moment? Hopper delivers Will's message through the walkie-talkie to the rest of the group, then Dustin writes it in Morse code with a Dixon Ticonderoga pencil AND Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein are the authors of ST soundtracks, one of which is called "The First I love You." All the first letters of the words are capitalised except for the L in this song. The song that plays during Steve confessing his love to Robin and her coming out, and El confessing his love to Mike in front of the open closet.
That's when it hit me - MUSIC IS THE DUFFERS' MORSE CODE because, with their official soundtracks and the lyrics of the songs so perfectly chosen for the scenes and for official characters' Spotify playlists, they deliver the TRUE, sensitive meaning of the show - the relationships between two main characters. The characters who speak about their love to each other in code themselves, but it starts being obvious with every season how these two are feeling about each other.
#I would like to dive more into it but thanks to evil russians I have constant blackouts#and a shitty mobile connection so I give you only these crumbs in hopes that I’ll return to that later#byler#stranger things theory#stranger things music#stranger things soundtracks#stranger things songs

The Bones are Good
We're in the home stretch of the high times We took a hard left, but we're alright
Corso sighs as he drags himself back to the apartment that he was staying at on Nar Shaddaa. It’d been nearly two days since he’d been here and almost three since he last saw Leikael. He was praying that she’d come back and was still angry. That would be better then her not being anywhere. They’d had their first big fight. It wasn’t the first time they’d argued, but it was the first one like that. First one over something so serious, the risks they took, the jobs they took, the way men hit on her and she flirted for work, his protective nature clashing with her trauma and free spirit. The way he’d fussed over some girls they’d met from back on Ord.
Yeah, life sure can try to put love through it, but We built this right, so nothing's ever gonna move it
They’d both been tired, they’d hit each other’s weak points, there’d been yelling and Leikael had stormed out, without even taking her blasters. He’d chased after her, but lost her in the crowd and after a bit of looking, returned to wait impatiently and then worriedly as she didn’t return. After a day passed and no word if she was safe, he’d gone looking again. She didn’t have her blasters, she could have gotten into real trouble on the smuggler’s moon. Now he was back, just to resupply and rearm and maybe check if she was here.
When the bones are good, the rest don't matter Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter Let it break, 'cause you and I remain the same
It was quiet at first but as he moved past the main area to Leikael’s side of this apartment, he could hear the music. He rushes towards it, the lyrics registering but not slowing him, only fueling him to move faster until he burst into the room the music was playing from. There she was, in front of a window, staring out at the city below, safe and unharmed.
When there ain't a crack in the foundation Baby, I know any storm we're facing will Blow right over while we stay put The house don't fall when the bones are good
He should be angry, furious that she’d made him worry, that he’d had to spend hours scared for her and searching the worst parts of Nar Shaddaa to find her. But he’s just glad she’s safe. He crosses the room in a few long strides. His steps making her turn, facing him and smiling that small smile that only he ever got to see. She catches him as he approaches, pulling him into her arms and burying her face in his chest.
Call it dumb luck, but, baby, you and I Can't even mess it up although we both try No, it don't always go the way we planned it, but the Wolves came and went and we're still standing
They rock together silently for a time, wrapped in each others arms and letting the pain and fear and anger dissipate into the air and get carried away in the simple peace of being together. “You’re safe darling. I was so worried.” Corso whispers almost afraid to breathe, to break the moment and send her out into the streets of the smugglers moon again.
When the bones are good, the rest don't matter Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter Let it break, 'cause you and I remain the same
“I’m sorry.” Leikael whispers.
Corso immediately starts to quiet her. “No, no. It’s ok, I shouldn’t have tried to control what we do.” He leans back just enough to take her face in his hands. “I just get so scared when I think of the people we’re… you… are making enemies of. I worry that I won’t be able to have your back, that I will lose you too.”
When there ain't a crack in the foundation Baby, I know any storm we're facing will Blow right over while we stay put The house don't fall when the bones are good
Leikael wraps her smaller, green, such a beautiful green, hands over his. “We’re galactic criminals dealing with the galactic underworld and trying to carve out our own space in it. I can’t promise we’ll be safe, that I’ll be safe. But I’ll always do everything I can to come back to you and the siren. I’m sorry I got so upset over those girls. I… They’re Ord girls, they grew up there. They’re more what you’re used to. They’re more… settled.”
When the bones are good, the rest don't matter Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter Let it break, 'cause you and I remain the same
Corso has to chuckle at her. Of course he was placed with the same value as the ship. He’d long ago come to terms sharing his girlfriend with her starship. It was weird, but he wouldn’t have her any other way. “If I wanted settled, if I wanted a woman like the ones back home, I’d go back home. I want you, exactly the way you are, blasters, temper, hardheaded stubbornness, nose for trouble, all of it. Please don’t run out like that again. Please. Let’s just talk things out. I was so scared, you ran out without your blasters, without backup.” He shakes his head and leans down to place a kiss on her forehead. “I was so worried about you in the streets with no way to protect yourself.”
When there ain't a crack in the foundation Baby, I know any storm we're facing will Blow right over while we stay put The house don't fall when the bones are good
Leikael leans back from him, her usual grin back in place. “Haven’t you learned by now farm boy.” He always knew she was teasing when she pulled out that nickname. She reaches behind her and pulls out of somewhere he couldn’t figure out, a small holdout blaster. “I always have a blaster.” He laughs and picks her up as he spins them. Her arms come up around his neck as they kiss and the cold durasteel against his neck feels like a promise that they’ll be ok.

an AU where the reader played drums for Harry during the first half of Love on Tour in 2021 and they ended up in a secret relationship but things went south after that leg of tour finished bc she wanted to pursue music on her own, while he has his own busy schedule to attend to, so they called it quits to avoid future complications.
Her solo career starts taking off and everything’s going well— she has performances coming up, an album that just dropped, interviews waiting— and she’s managed to keep their past relationship under wraps like they agreed they would, but things take a turn when Harry releases hs3 with songs she can tell are about her. She shrugs most of it off, but what tips the scale is that he ends up releasing a deluxe version with Baby Honey and Complicated Freak as bonus tracks (in this AU, he wrote them about her after they broke up instead of in 2017) and the trivial punches aimed at her in the songs are what make her act on her emotions.
She knows how petty he can be, which is one of their shared traits that would sometimes cause a clash when they were together, so in turn, she releases one of the songs she wrote about him as a single (which she had planned to keep private, but he threw the first punch so fair is fair) and basically the song is the female version of 5sos’s English Love Affair. And in the lyrics, there’s obvious digs that confirm they had a relationship together, so everything’s out in the open now.
Felt somebody looking at me
Playful condescension
Feeling the connection
///
Before I knew it, it was serious
Dragged me off the stage
Cold rings burned and left a trace
//
Drinking wine, forgetting our names
Honey’s getting naked
“Love how good you take it.”
///
Every single step had me begging for the next
Before I knew it, it was serious
Dragged me up the stairs, kissed me hard and made me swear
Aside from the revealing title, the lyrics about being on stage, his signature rings, and the line about making her swear to keep their relationship a secret being pretty telling to the public, the references she makes to some of the songs in his new album (the wine lyric related to Grapejuice, calling him “honey” as a nod to Baby Honey) just about confirms all the speculation that could rise up. This also causes her album to be analyzed from a completely new perspective, and listeners obviously begin digging through her music to find more connections between her and Harry, which only inflames the situation.
As a result, Harry ends up reaching out to her over the phone in a fit of disbelieving anger, which she obviously responds to with the same attitude since he was the one that started it all.
“How can you accuse me of making you swear to keep us a secret when you wanted our relationship to stay behind the scenes just as much as I did?!”
“You’re right, I did. But you’re conveniently leaving out the differences in our motives. I wanted us to be a secret so it wouldn’t cause any problems in our relationship and wouldn’t fall back on our friends and family. You wanted to keep us a secret so it wouldn’t interfere with your career. See the difference?”
“That’s bullshit and you know it.”
“Is it? Because here you are, airing out our entire lives for a fucking Grammy.”
“Are you fucking serious? I don’t write music for the awards or the money and you know that! I write it for myself!”
“Yeah, because making childish comments about my post-breakup dating life must be so healing for you.”
After that unsuccessful (and frankly, pretty violent) phone call, their managers end up being the ones that strike up a compromise pertaining to the messy press situation at hand. They order both of them to get together privately and talk this out, because fighting will get them nowhere and fix nothing. After they resolve their differences, they should try to evade any questions about their relationship as much as possible in the media, and if they have no choice but to answer, they should regard each other with neutrality and respect. Y/N and Harry agree, and they settle to meet at his place in London since she’s traveling there the following week to do some promo.
The tension and feelings are running high from the second she sets foot in his house. They regard one another as calmly and cordially as they can, with Harry welcoming her in, offering her a drink, and telling her to get comfortable. However, it’s difficult for her to feel at ease in a place that holds so many heavy memories. After some awkward small talk and pained silences, she takes it upon herself to drop all formalities and steer the conversation towards what they’re both avoiding.
As they dive into all the rocky details of their relationship, both the unresolved issues and the heartfelt passionate moments neither of them can forget, things get heated once again. They’re all but yelling and screaming at one another, while also trying to hide how hurt both of them truly feel; despite whatever front they put up, they can’t deny that having to separate due to circumstance was more hurtful than either would care to admit. Both of them had dreams they wanted to fulfill, and being torn apart by those hopes caused a deep wound that neither had ever really healed from. Sacrificing love for ambition is a choice no one should ever have to make.
Y/N winds up crying, and seeing her in such a sad state drains any resentment Harry could ever possibly hold towards her. He comforts her and apologizes for the way he’s acted, both personally and within his career, and she returns the sentiment. And then in a moment of vulnerability and truceful clarity, they kiss.
They do more than kiss, actually. More than once. In different places and on various surfaces, with whispered love confessions strewn amidst dirty moans and desperate whines.
And after they’re done and they’re laying there sweaty, panting, and tangled in their emotions, there’s at least one thing they can both agree on with absolute certainty: they’re about to give their managers a run for their money all over again.

i'm not saying that a stupid spotify playlist should serve as evidence of how a character's arc would proceed, but i'm saying that so far it feels pretty fucking accurate.

Inkpot Gods Chapter 3
Will Geralt finally tell you about your family? Will you stay in that cave? May have snuck in a few lyrics from Inkpot Gods in this one see if you can find them 😉! Also does anyone want to be added to a tag list???? Moodboard by @sweetpeapod masterlist here for other chapters ao3 here
"Move your feet, Jaskier! You need to move quickly when fighting with an enemy!" You shout at Jaskier.
You had spent the past few days continuing to focus on Jaskier and his sword skills, since Geralt would only answer your questions with a hmmm, a grunt, or by avoiding you. Yennefer just sat off by herself, occasionally glaring at you.
Geralt suddenly emerged from the cave, he sighed as he looked between you and Jaskier, before shaking his head and walking towards the beach. Jaskier looked over at you and nodded towards Geralt. You nod back at him and slowly slide off the large rock you had been sitting on, and follow Geralt.
"I have been more than patient, witcher. What has happened to my father and mother?" You demand as you approach Geralt.
"I couldn't tell you, princess. Last I saw, your father was in the middle of a battle, and I have no idea about your mother. Last I saw her was at the banquet when the kingdom was attacked." Geralt responded sternly, turning to face you.
"Fine, then what about that creature you fought off? Did you kill it? Was it the shapeshifter?"
"It's possible it was the shapeshifter, but I wasn't able to kill it. It threw me out a window, which knocked me unconscious for a few days. I meant it when I said I don't know what happened!"
"Then let me go back! I need to know if my family is alive!"
"It's not possible, Y/N and you should know that by now." Yennefer intervened.
"What is that supposed to mean?" You retort
"I assume you know of the prophecy, which is why you have been all over Jaskier." She replied, putting a hand on her hip.
"What do you mean? All I know of it is 'when the rose meets the dandelion in such dark days the love that comes will bring a child who will save the world' what does that have to do with Jaskier?"
"Some know him as dandelion and from what I've gathered of you, those in your court call you a rose, beautiful but dangerous. Also the child won't save the world it will destroy it! That is part of the second verse."
You scoff at her and roll your eyes, "what do you mean second verse."
"The child will grow in strength and power, and what saves the world for one, will destroy the world for others." Yennefer recited.
"What are we talking about?" Jaskier inquired, appearing next to you.
"If I'm so dangerous then why go to all this trouble to save me? Why not just let me die? Or even better, let me go back to my kingdom so I can see what happened!"
Geralt gave you a cold glare, "I promised your father I would save you, and keep you safe. That creature is still looking for you. Once I kill it, you can go about your search for your family. Until then, whether you like it or not, you are stuck here with us."
You grab the sword from Jaskiers hand, and practically lunge at Geralt. Quickly, he steps to the side and grabs for his own sword. Jaskier and Yennefer watch in shock as you and Geralt fight. You both assess the other's fighting method as your swords clash together. He was a strong fighter, but you knew he was expecting you to be weak. After another crash of the swords, you shift your position and manage to catch Geralt off guard, quickly knocking him to the ground. You hold your sword to his throat so as to keep him on the ground.
"I knew you thought I was weak, but this should prove I am not. Let me go back to find my family."
"Y/N, please this is enough. Trust Geralt. If you won't trust him then trust me." Jaskier pleaded putting his hand on your shoulder.
You glare at Geralt before you sigh, throwing the sword to the ground, and walking towards the woods, away from the cave. Jaskier helped Geralt up before looking after you wistfully.
"She's dangerous, Jaskier, please be careful." Geralt said before he made his way back to the cave.
Yennefer motioned for Jaskier to follow her and Geralt.
"Come on, it may be best to leave her be for a moment."
"There's still creatures and such looking for her. I'm going to stay nearby in case something happens." Jaskier said, grabbing the discarded sword off the sand.
"Jaskier, Geralt wasn't lying when he said she's dangerous. There is a prophecy saying you two will fall in love and have a child. But it seems either the child will save the world or destroy it. It would be best to avoid the prophecy from happening, you should leave her alone." Yennefer said.
Jaskier nodded, but refused to head back into the cave. Yennefer sighed, shook her head, and followed Geralt into the cave. After a few hours, you begrudgingly make your way back towards the cave just to see Jaskier keeping a watchful eye on you. You give him a hug and a gentle kiss on the cheek before you both head into the cave.
A few days passed, and the tension was still high. It didn't help that Yennefer and Geralt spent more time whispering to each other about who knows what, leaving you and Jaskier to ponder what was going on.
"We have lingered here for too long. We need to go." Yennefer finally announced after three days of tense silence.
"Where exactly?" You retort.
"Away. I'm sure the shapeshifter is looking for you. Nilfgaard is probably also looking for you. We need to move or risk being found." Geralt grunted back to you.
You sigh, and try to help clean up the cave removing any traces of habitation, in case someone were to stop here looking for you. Woefully, you follow Geralt, Yennefer, and Jaskier away from the cave, and away from home. Four days passed, and Yennefer would not let you near Jaskier, and kept asking you questions. Hours passed and you were getting tired of walking. Geralt finally stopped you guys to make camp for the night.
"Why do you keep asking me all these questions?" You finally inquire of Yennefer.
"Your mother was convinced you had some chaos magic! I'm trying to figure out if you do or not." Yennefer retorted back.
"She's not my mother." You say sitting down on a nearby log.
You feel everyone's eyes on you and know they're shocked by the news.
Sighing, and rolling your eyes you look up at them, "I'm not sure who my real mother is. But my father did say something about me being part elf once long ago to my mother. She sounded devastated and hurt. Regardless, if I have any magic it would be elven magic not this chaos stuff you're talking about."
"Fuck." You hear geralt mutter.
Jaskier looks between Geralt and Yennefer before putting a gentle hand on your shoulder. Before he can say anything to you, Yennefer pulls him away from you.
"So why are we keeping her with us, Geralt? She's hardly royalty from the sounds of it."
"I promised to keep her safe regardless of her status. If you don't see a use then you can go."
"Well I need to keep these two apart until I can decide what this prophecy means, and if it's about them."
"You know she can hear you! Now, I don't know about you guys but I am starving. Y/n, would you like to help me find food?" Jaskier asked, extending a hand out to you.
You smile up at him, glad that he was sticking up for you. Quickly, you take his hand and stand up to begin your search for any kind of food in the dense forest, leaving Geralt and Yennefer alone.
"Would you leave them alone? I doubt he will be able to make her fall for him." Geralt growled, beginning to gather wood for a fire.
"Have you not seen the way he looks at her? The way she looks at him? Geralt, it's destined to be trouble!"
"Some say we are destined for trouble, and don't deserve each other. But yet we have found we cannot stay away from each other."
Yennefer looked up at Geralt and sighed knowing he was right.
Meanwhile in the woods:
"Part elf, really? I had a lady tell me a story that basically made it sound like I'm an heir of an elf and the first witcher! Not sure if it's true or not but fancy the idea."
You smile up at him, "I'm not entirely sure but it could be true. I mean I know for certain my mother isn't my real mother. I know that my father is my real father, so I am part royalty at least."
"Oh wow! I mean, I am Viscount of Lettenhove! Not really as fancy as royalty but it's something! I had a high standing in the Royal Court as a bard, until Geralt ruined it for me."
You laugh, and begin to gather some plants while Jaskier continues telling stories, and occasionally asking you if a certain plant was safe to eat. After a while, you finally make your way back to Geralt. Jaskier is the only one who talks the rest of the night. You smile and nod to signal that you are at least listening, and after everyone is done eating, Jaskier grabs his lute, sits off to the side on a rock and starts trying to create a new song. You lie down, and look up at the stars as you listen to Jaskier sing. Patiently, you wait for everyone to fall asleep. You have decided to run away now before you get any further from home. Slowly, everyone started to lie down, and drift off. Once you were certain Geralt was asleep, and would not wake, you quietly creep around the campsite, slowly gathering the few things you will need in a bag. You put the sword in its sheath, and put that around the waist of your dress, and quietly make your way out into the woods away from the campsite, and back in the direction of your home.
"Where are you going?" A male voice inquired, making you jump.
You turn to see who has found you, "Jaskier?! What are you doing? Shouldn't you be sleeping?"
"Shouldn't you? Why are you leaving me?"
"I'm sorry, I need to go back to my home. I need to know if my family and my people are alive. It has been long enough that the shapeshifter should have left the castle, especially if it is trying to find me! I need to do this, regardless of what Geralt thinks." You reply, trying to keep your composure as you feel tears stinging the corner of your eyes. How could the thought of leaving Jaskier be so painful?
"Take me with you then, please. Don't leave me here to wonder if you are safe." Jaskier's voice was shaky, letting you know he was on the verge of tears as well.
"I can't. Geralt will find me faster with you. Besides, where I am going is for me and me alone. I can't risk you getting hurt or killed..." You approach him, and put a gentle hand on his cheek, "I promise, I will come back to you. Give me a month, maybe two before coming to find me. But, if I don't make it back from where I've gone, just know I have loved you all along."
You can feel Jaskiers tears on your hand that is still on his cheek, "I will come find you if you don't find me. I cannot lose you though. Be safe, please, I have loved you since I first laid eyes on you, and cannot bear it if I lost you for good. I'll work on my sword skills so that I can save you if needed."
You start crying, wanting nothing more than to take his hand and bring him with you. Before you can build up the strength to leave Jaskier, you feel his hand on your waist pulling you closer to him. You look up into his eyes as he uses his free hand to gently push your hair away from your face. His hand makes its way to the back of your neck as your eyes lock together. In one sweeping movement, your lips crash together, and time seems to stop. After a moment of enjoying his lips against yours, you move your hand from his cheek down his neck to his shoulder, and onto his chest, where you gently push him away from you. You bite your lip as you compose yourself, and quickly turn and run to make your way deeper into the woods, away from Jaskier.
