Lyra had moved to Detroit almost a month ago with her sisters. It had taken quite some time but she’d finally gotten her shop up and going. The Fae’s Garden stood towards the outside of the city. The front of the shop a florist with bouquets and small potted plants. But connected to the shop was a large greenhouse. Filled with flowers ranging in common to exotic.
Lyra hummed happily as she tended to the flowers. Business was still slow since she was relatively new. The open sign hung proudly and she kept an ear open for the bell at the front.

The forest was always quiet at this time of night. It took a little while for Lyra to walk out to the lake but once there she sighed. Taking in the fresh air and scent of the water. It was calming.
The young woman sat by the water and ran her hand over the surface. Then, pulling back, a silvery strand of water followed her hand. She manipulated the water like a ribbon. Twirling it around her and through the air. So caught up in letting out her extra magic and playing, she didn’t notice another approaching.

Rose smirked at Cherie as Lyra worked in the greenhouse. But it wasn’t a normal day. Oh no. Today the shop was closed so Lyra could give the plants a little extra TLC.
Lyra’s magic had the air humming as she manipulated the water over the plants. Then as she worked she caressed the flowers and they would bloom.
“Pretty cool, right Cherry?” The younger laugh. Lyra looked over at them and smiled. Creating a sphere of water and floating it toward them. The water stopping in front of Cherie.

“Ta be fair.” Rose spoke up, as the paramedics laid her back on a gurney. “I’m one too. So I think we double did it.” She laughed. Well tried to. It ended in a pained hiss as they adjusted her leg. Lyra looked on with calm yet worried eyes.
“Only you would joke as you get carted off for surgery.” Crossing her arms, Lyra tried to get closer to her little sister but kept being pushed back by the EMTs. Lyra finally backing off to stand near Hank and Connor. Looking over the injured android, worried for him as well.
“Somebody’s gotta. Right, Con-man?” The younger still jested. There was the sound of more collapsing debri from the building. The workers ignoring the sound and continuing to work on Connor and Rose. Moving them to the vehicles for evacuation. Lyra following close.
thethreefaes:
Connor now had Rose on one side and Lyra on the other. Lyra trying her hardest to help support him as they walked. Rose, with her injured leg, was leaning against him but trying not to cause him any more damage.
“The exit isn’t far. We’re almost there.” Lyra said, trying to be optimistic. The whole situation was horrid but at least they were together again. The unknown was what terrified Lyra.
The roof creaked and there was sound of crumbling distant behind them. The only sounds in the silence of the mall. Sunlight peaking through the large doors ahead of them. New sounds hitting them. Sirens. Yelling. Flashing lights of first responders and officers.
Rose stumbled and had to fight down the panic that almost spiked when they stepped outside. So much stimulation as her adrenaline finally crashed and left her shaking.
They were finally out. If he wasn’t dazed and in pain, the android would have been concerned for anyone still trapped inside but, the only thing on his mind was his damaged body and his friends.
The trio was immediately swarmed. Paramedics and a technician came to look them over. And to Connor’s surprise, Hank was there was well. It made sense, even if it was his day off, that he’d be called in. Even if he wasn’t, of course, he’d hear about it and come over since he knew Connor was there. He must have been very worried about him.
“Fucking hell Connor, you’re a fucking trouble magnet.”
Connor didn’t have a clear enough head to respond.

Lyra knew she wasn’t suppose to travel too far from the house. Charms set in place to protect them and keep them unseen. But no one would be back until later tonight and she wanted to restock on her herbs and plants.
Lyra wasn’t foolish. She was well aware that times were dangerous for magical beings. The wizards kept their world separated from the nonmagical. But unrest was in their walls. The Fae as well had taken to remaining beyond the Veil. Only traveling to the human’s realm as needed.
Lyra, however, was an outcast. No Veil to hide behind and not a witch to be protected by laws. A Halfling with no world or purpose as they said. Only her own kin to protect each other.
Yet, still she wandered and enjoyed the peace of the forest. Lyra hummed softly as she finally came across the plants she would need for potions and healing balms. She knelt and carefully placed them in her basket.

Lyra and Altair has been flying all night, and the sun was starting to rise. It was too risky to fly any longer and they descended into a dense forest. They could feel the magic flowing amongst the trees. They would be safe from humans.
The silvery white dragon landed besides a lake and Lyra slid off. Moving to lay her back against the opalescent dragon. A wing coming down to cover the fae woman.
“We’ll rest here until it’s safe to fly again. Alright?” A low growl is her answer and she giggles. Closing her eyes as the dragon settled down as well.

Lyra had snuck away again while the others were out of the house. Making her way through the forest easily and towards the castle Gellert had told her about.
She only made it to the field of thestrals when a cold breeze stopped her. Turning around with the look of one bring caught with the cookie jar.
“I thought you were off to the city.” Lyra said softly as another figure stepped around the trees. Taller and leaner than Lyra but the same fiery red hair. Kiara’s hair was braided back so her sharper features were more noticable. Similar enough to tell they were related, but opposites in so many.
“Where are you going? This is far past our barrier.” Kiara hissed out. Walking forward with crossed arms. Lyra glanced around.
“I was meeting a friend.” She answered. Kiara looked confused. A creature friend? Lyra did tend to look after all the creatures in the forest. Her gaze lands on the thestrals.
“These creatures?” Kiara asked.

Lyra had a calming aura to her and kept her gentle brushing of her finger through his hair to help lull him. She hummed quietly and looked up to Hank and Conan. Looking between them, a silent question of “are you two ok?” In her eyes.
The woman could only imagine the panic and worry they’ve had. She couldn’t imagine seeing Connor bloody but they had to act and save him. They needed rest too.
“You two should sit and try to relax. Or you could request the chairs that lounge so you can lay down.” She spoke just above a whisper to not disturb Connor.
-Connors demeanor changed almost entirely at the kiss. He looked very surprised, a deep pink hue creeping along the bridge of his nose. That blush only grew as she moved beside him, having Connor act entirely on instinct and basically bury himself into her. It was warm, her clothing was soft, and it was just.. Nice..-
“I think.. That’s.. A good idea..” Suddenly, humanity isn’t so scary. That’s not what Hank can say, though. Hospitals are sickening.

These were her favorite days. Clear sky’s with only the occasional cloud. A breeze that promised the autumn on its heels. Leaves rustling with the beginning of change. Not quite time. But almost.
Landing on a green hill surrounded by forest, the fae folded her tawny wings and sat. From here, Lyra could gaze out over the land below. A town just visable on the horizon. The forest behind her. She could hear the animals of the forest. The songs of the birds and chatter of the creatures.
Lyra took in a deep breath of the fresh air. The wind ruffling her hair and feathers. A gentle smile graced her lips as she curled one giant wing around in front of her. As much as she could at least. Delicate fingers beginning their work to preen the soft feathers.

Lyra had needed the walk today. The shop had become so busy lately that a day off was a blessing. There was still so much of the city Lyra hadn’t explored yet. So, on her way back towards her floral shop she took a new path.
It was a chillier day and she pulled her shall closer to her. The cold reminding her a bit of home. Humming softly she moved through the small crowd of people and androids that were also out.

She was shaking and had to fold her wings around her to try to control them. Curling up the best she could on the couch. Lyra still felt ill but watching Hank made her smile. It felt better not being alone.
“I’m a fae. A forest fae to be exact. Well... half. My mother was a fae and my father was human. It’s... complicated.” She ran a shaky hand through her hair.
@thethreefaes
Two weeks. It had been two fucking weeks since he heard from Lyra. The last he heard was from Rose and that Lyra was sick or some shit. But then the woman just left for some convention? And the other sister, Kiara, was away on business. Why the hell would they leave their sister if she was sick?
Hank didn’t become one of the youngest Lieutenants for nothing. And even as he’s gotten older his instincts were still sharp. And this? This shit didn’t add up.
So that’s what brought him here. At Lyra’s front door, trying not to over react. She was a grown woman. Capable of taking care of herself. Maybe Hank had gotten too use to her checking in on him and he simply missed her presence.
Sighing at his stupidity he finally knocked. He’d just check on her and then leave her be. At least calm his damn mind.

Rose let out a whistle.
“A St. Bernard? That’s a big dog!” A St. Bernard would give Silver a run for her money. Rose tried to imagine Connor with such a big dog and laughed a little.
As they walked she noticed the items he placed in his cart. Another thought hit her.
“Can you even taste?” That came out a lot ruder than she meant. “Sorry. I mean. With you getting stuff for your friend. It just kinda hit me that you can’t eat or drink. But can you taste things?”
thethreefaes:
Rose laughed and nudged Connor’s arm.
“Dang! You hit a cop for being a jerk? You’re a rebel Con-man.” Letting our another laugh she walked with his as he shopped. Gavin sounded like an arse if Connor wasn’t fond of him. But this Hank guy… Rose was happy Connor had a friend to help him. He really did sound happy.
“And you’re a dog type of guy. I can see it.” Rose looked over the shelves, adjusting her bag. She didn’t need anything. But if something caught her eye she’d bring it home. Her sister usually took care of the cooking bit.
“You got a favorite breed? Or just all dogs?”
Connor chuckled. “He was getting in the way of my mission. He deserved it.” He replied, making their way into the grocery store Hank preferred. He picked up a basket then started filling it, a mix of both what he knew Hank should eat and what he knew Hank would eat.
He turned to smile at her a little, wondering what about him made him look like a dog person but he didn’t want to ask.
“Yes, I like Sumo - Hank’s dog. He’s a St Bernard.”

It had taken a lot of talking, yelling, and magical tantrums but finally the two had been able to talk through the events.
Kiara was furious that Lyra had endangered herself. The what if’s running through her mind. But Lyra stayed adamant that this mage was of no threat. That he was kind and wanted to help. When Lyra showed her the crystal she was tempted to snatch it from her and destroy it. Fear that it was a trap.
Now she found herself in the shadows of a tree, watching as Lyra stood in the same field as before. The young fae looking around as if Albus would already be there. Giving a comforting smile to her sister, Lyra ran her thumb over his gift and muttered his name. She hoped he could tell it was more a request and that she wasn’t in trouble.
