It was hard to imagine this woman was related to Lyra. There were similarities in their appearance, but where Lyra was welcoming Kiara was cold and closed off. Staring at Cherie she finally spoke.
âSo youâre the little human that befriended my sister.â She crossed her arms, looking unimpressed.
âWhat do you want? You human are always trying to take what you can get and run.â

Kiara had been enjoying walking the back roads when the tingle of magic caught her attention. Curious and wary she focused on where the magic was coming from. Stepping into the shadows she disappeared to reappear in the shadows of a garden.
Her dark green eyes scan the flowers and plants. Impressed. Only Lyraâs garden had seemed to flourish this well. Then Kiaraâs gaze fell on the source of the magic she felt. A man. An.. elf? She tilted her head intrigued. Observing him.

Lyra had snuck away again while the others were out of the house. Making her way through the forest easily and towards the castle Gellert had told her about.
She only made it to the field of thestrals when a cold breeze stopped her. Turning around with the look of one bring caught with the cookie jar.
âI thought you were off to the city.â Lyra said softly as another figure stepped around the trees. Taller and leaner than Lyra but the same fiery red hair. Kiaraâs hair was braided back so her sharper features were more noticable. Similar enough to tell they were related, but opposites in so many.
âWhere are you going? This is far past our barrier.â Kiara hissed out. Walking forward with crossed arms. Lyra glanced around.
âI was meeting a friend.â She answered. Kiara looked confused. A creature friend? Lyra did tend to look after all the creatures in the forest. Her gaze lands on the thestrals.
âThese creatures?â Kiara asked.

It had taken a lot of talking, yelling, and magical tantrums but finally the two had been able to talk through the events.
Kiara was furious that Lyra had endangered herself. The what ifâs running through her mind. But Lyra stayed adamant that this mage was of no threat. That he was kind and wanted to help. When Lyra showed her the crystal she was tempted to snatch it from her and destroy it. Fear that it was a trap.
Now she found herself in the shadows of a tree, watching as Lyra stood in the same field as before. The young fae looking around as if Albus would already be there. Giving a comforting smile to her sister, Lyra ran her thumb over his gift and muttered his name. She hoped he could tell it was more a request and that she wasnât in trouble.

So I started thinking about face claims for my girls. Even though I got the amazing art of them, I was curious. Who would I pick? So here are who I picked.

This was... not ideal. Kiara was not meant to run a flower shop. Where Lyra had the green thumb, Kiara needed to keep her hands away from the flowers. Knowing her luck simply touching the delicate blooms would end badly.
Heaving a sigh, the woman decided to keep herself busy with the paperwork and register. Greeting guests minimally and simply leaving them to look. She knew it wasnât the best customer service, but itâs what she could manage. They needed to shop to run but why couldnât Rose have been able to cover?
The shop was empty of people. Then, hearing the bell ring over the door Kiara offered up her welcome from the register, not looking up from the papers.
âWelcome to the Faeâs Garden. Feel free to look around.â

â Youâre right, Iâm fleeing. Like Bambi from a forest fire. â
Kiara eyed the woman, unimpressed with her answer.
âWhile fleeing from a force of nature you have no power over is wise. Fleeing out of simple cowardice is pathetic.â The fae circled her, arms crossed.
âStrange. You donât strike me as the pathetic type. Though... Iâve been proven wrong before.â She challenged.

Slowly even more of the stiffness left her. This elf. He was... too much. It had been years since she was treated with this respect. Had another regard her with proper titles and even respectful bows. A small turn of her lips. A smile. With a breathy laugh she shook her head.
âMo chara. My friend. I have been on this side of the Veil for too long. Iâve become soft.â Kiara bows back to him.
âYou may call me Kiara. No titles required. Your honor and respect will not be forgotten.â With that she approached him, keeping a few feet between them, but now at a more comfortable speaking range.
âThere is nothing wrong with nature being your natural talent. A strong earth fairling can become a powerful healer. Or a powerful force of nature.â She smirked.
âWhen the very ground around you attacks, itâs hard to counter that.â Her knuckle lightly caresses the green leaves.
âMagic is complex. So connected within us. Yours is very strong. Promising ability lies just under the surface.â
thethreefaesâ:
âFascinating. I havenât come across mutants before. Does this⊠x-gene interfere with your magic? Or does it enhance it? Does your mother assist in your training?â Humans with a gene that gives them abilities? It was a⊠terrifying thought to the fae. Humans were already dangerous and cruel. Now they could gain powers similar to those beyond the Veil? She shuddered and decided to turn her attention to the garden.
âYour nature ability does not seem affected by it. Your garden is flourishing and hums with your magic. Though you should be careful. Residual magic can call to others. Perhaps you should practice drawing magic back into you when youâve finished your work.â An attempted compliment. Kiaraâs gaze on the flower smiling and though she reaches out, she does not touch the bloom.
âMy sister has the same trouble.â She muttered.
âSo far I havenât seen any interference per say but I do seem to have difficulty finding my particular specialty. Unless itâs just been staring me in the face or I misunderstood what âspecialtyâ meant when it was explained to me. Though thatâd be a bit of a let down if I was just particularly gifted at nature magic,â he chuckled. âDonât know if it enhances it either to be honest but Iâm glad it still works here. Would have been devastating if Iâd had that taken too in the dimensional jump. Mother had helped train me back in Imaldris and the school has been further helping me hone my control over my mutations.â
He couldnât help the smile that crossed his features when she complimented his garden. His garden was his pride and joy and to hear someone of status who seemed hell bent on insulting his very existence, even if it was only former status, compliment it meant quite a lot.
âThank you for your kind words milady, I work hard to ensure the garden is well tended to,â he said pressing his left hand to his chest as he gave a slight deferential bow. âI admittedly donât have much experience calling back the magic, not even sure if we can to be honest. I never really got to ask either of my aunts about it. They had the more extensive use of their magic. Dad mostly used healing magic though in cases where he was in the wilds and needed to be stealthy heâd use his nature magic to help camouflage himself so he never really had to âcall it backâ either. I have been trying to learn other forms of magic as well since coming here so I should probably add learning recall to my list of things to learn about magic.â

âYes. They are beautiful, and have foals. I like to come out and watch them.â A partial truth on why she was out here. Lyra liked to watch the thestrals but it was the midway between Gelllert and her own home.
âThey are growing so fast.â She glances at the herd with a smile. Though her look falls on the fox and itâs mismatched eyes. Lyra smiled a little more until her sisterâs voice cut into her thoughts.
âThese creatures travel in a herd. They need not your protection.â Kiara shook her head. âBut you do need the protection of the wards or myself. Goddess, even Rose would be better than no one.â Lyra huffed as she looked back at her.
âI donât need the protection all the time. I can look after myself. Youâve taught me so.â She glared at the older one. Arms crossed. Kiara though, only saw a pout. With a sigh she simply grabbed Lyraâs arm.
âLetâs go.â Kiara started to pull Lyra when a blast of warm air hit her. She stopped and looked down at her sister. A brow raised.
âNĂl mĂ© ina leanbh!â Lyra yelled and tried to pull her arm free. âIs fĂ©idir liom cairde a iniĂșchadh agus a fheiceĂĄil mar is mian liom!â She planted her feet. Kiara glared down at her.
âTĂĄ tĂș ag gnĂomhĂș mar leanbh.â Kiara shot back. âNĂ fĂ©idir leat a bheith anseo ina n-aonar.â
âI wonât be alone.â Lyra let slip. Kiaraâs eyes narrowed.
âWhat does that mean?â

The fox padded itâs way across the forest floor enjoying the way the leaves, the grass, felt under his paws. Sometimes he chose to stop and sniff a flower, or dive into a pile of fallen leaves giggling softly to itself. Sometimes he would walk across a fallen tree and jump off with the enthusiasm of a child. Grindelwald couldnât help himself, when he transfigured into animals he felt as if he could disappear and become something else for a little while. Forget. Forget all his responsibilities. Forget his worries. Everything looked different or seemed different in fox form, so much bigger, the colours brighter for his good eye. The smells stronger. Hearing the sounds of hooves the fox dashed forward, only slowing to a trot when he saw the Thestral herd close by, he didnât want to spook them. No he would never do that even if he felt playful in this form. However he even finds himself hesitating as his eyeâs fall onto LyraâŠ.Lyra and somebody else, someone he didnât know, though they looked so similar. The fox pauses in his stride, his ears twitching he sits down upon the grass, his mismatched eyeâs watching the two women, the only give away of whom he was.Â
