Meet Lydia

Lydia Cecilia Edwards is growing up in an old country home on the western coast of England in 1885. She lives with her mother Mary, sometimes called Marie, her six year old brother Gardner, and (when he isn’t on a voyage) her father William. Other members of the house are the cook (Mrs. Pole), 2 maids (Annie and Mary), and the children’s governess, Miss Archer.

Lydia is torn between wanting to be a “proper, well-bred girl” as her mother expects and a longing for adventure, stoked by her father’s seafaring stories and her mother’s histories of growing up in America. Her adventurous wishes come true when Papa announces that they will be spending the winter in New Orleans. Mama has family there, and her best friend, Cecile, from whom Lydia gets her middle name.

It has taken me some time to find the right doll for Lydia. Then I had to wrap my head around 1880s fashion, which is nearly the opposite of the Edwardian styles I am used to. (Lots of long, fitted bodices and full/bustled skirts behind.) I made this one based on some images of children from the approximate period. I plan to be making more so Lydia can have a full collection, but I’m pretty proud I managed to make this in one day. I think the fabric really brings out her eyes.

love how in edward scissorhands winona ryder’s character never goes back up the mountain to see edward because she wants him to remember her young, but in the beetlejuice movies almost forty years pass and beetlejuice still wants her character just as bad. need me a man like beetlejuice

TBH the Wonderland twins could've gotten over all their unspoken narrative-haunting grief about their third dead sibling really easily if they'd just ever met Magic Brian. They would've loved Magic Brian and he would've loved them. New brother unlocked (evil German edition this time which honestly to them is an upgrade)

Just realized while rewatching Bram Stoker's Dracula that Winona Ryder was paired with three different weirdos in movies that can be considered as Halloween classics.

My Edward and Lydia designs :3 I enjoyed the clown themes they had in the graphic novel so I added some of that into my designs, Edward has spades/clubs patterns and Lydia has Hearts/Diamonds patterns ^_^
