Telford could appreciate the directness, and he wasn't about to do harm to himself just because he didn't like the taste of something. That was more Rush's speed, though he wisely didn't verbalise that thought, accepting the canteen and knocking back the stuff as quickly as he could without risking hurling it up again. "Good boy," Rush said, still in an aggressively casual tone of voice. Everett coughed. Rush did that thing where outwardly he completely ignored the sound, but Telford could see that all of the man's senses were trained with extreme interest on Everett, keenly awaiting any trace of pull on the line. Of course he got exactly what he wanted, because Everett just wasn't able to help himself, in far too many areas of his life. "You said you had work to do?" he asked Rush, proving the one thing he didn't possess was any degree of subtlety. "I think I'll work in here today," Rush said, the way he'd stated it as a fact without even an attempt at the faux politeness of asking if that would be alright designed to press Everett's buttons, specifically his agreeable-unless-you-don't-acknowledge-my-authority one. "Do you really think that's necessary?" Everett responded, overly mild. "He needs his rest." Rush placed the back of his hand on Telford's forehead. Telford heard Everett stand up. That's right, he thought with no small amount of amusement, fight like dogs over me. He relaxed beneath Rush's cool skin, allowing his eyes to drift closed. "I won't be a bother," Rush offered, in a tone far too soft to be used in company, in Telford's opinion. "I just think--" Everett started, only to be immediately interrupted. "I don't care what you think." "Rush." "What?" "You're going to calm down," Everett ordered, doing a terrible job of remaining calm himself. "I'm not the one yelling," Rush retorted, blunt but with a level enough voice that Telford knew Everett would find infuriating. "Maybe you'd like to practice using your inside voice." "Listen!" Everett hissed, clearly restraining himself from moving any closer. "You can't--" "I can do whatever I damn well please." The bed shifted as Rush stood. "You're not going to fucking touch me." Invoking Telford's unspoken protection was an odd play, but one of the best things about Rush was that he never did what was expected of him, always keeping those around him on their toes. Everett let out a warning rumble and Telford cracked his eyes open to see the two men standing nose to nose, staring each other down with no attempt from either party to conceal their aggression. "You know," Telford remarked pointedly. "If you two want to fuck you can have the bed." The twin scandalised expressions he received in response were well worth the headache the argument had set raging inside his skull, a bull deciding his brain would make a nice china shop to run riot in.

🌑Seven Sentence Sunday🌑

Thanks for the tag, @the-golden-comet! Have a snippet from my Sanguinius x Reader fic, Beloved of the Blood Moons.

Please note, this work will have heavy religious themes and imagery, as well as smut. Read with care.

With each step, the Holy Sepulchre is revealed to you: Blood Angels adorned in their ceremonial robes line the entrance, their voices lifted to the vaulted ceiling where incense burners gently sway. The Blood Moons shine through the stained-glass windows depicting The Great Angel’s many victories and shine muted colors on the walls. Once you have ascended the stairs, you can see the Golden Sarcophagus. You have seen it on previous Sanguinala celebrations, where you gazed at The Great Angel’s visage in his eternal slumber. It always occurred to you that he looked…lonely in there, laying in an ocean of red silk. You wanted to climb into his coffin and rest his head on your chest, stroking his hair. Halfway through your approach, the lid of the coffin moves, for the first time in ten thousand years.

Wip The scarred angel / DRAFT Zero - actual chp 9 "The den"

ART (IbisPaint, yes, I'm playing with it) + Text under the cut / CW body fluids (?)

What they see are metal bars running from the ground to the ceiling same as a prison cell, bare and completely empty but for the deadly stink of urine mingled with the stale of other non specified substances.

Ashley clenches her teeth while she swipes the rye of the torch's light over the rock walls, the unwilling tension clasping at her nape and the pit of her stomach obviously going unnoticed by the two women with her.

Which is exactly how it has to be.

The lingering stink reminding ammonia's does speak loud enough about people that have been held captive inside.

Now the cell's door has been left locked, the key nowhere to be seen.

Since there is nothing more to check they resume the inspection and walk deeper into the gallery.

Eyes open wide in shock when they push open the second door.

"Is this a lab ?" Amy speaks first, almost in aw, while she takes in the surroundings.

A fair work has been achieved to get this part of the gallery almost matching a typical white collar working space, including a ventilation system and rather some equipment, considering what's been left, to re-create a functional setting.

"They lack on the decoration side..."Amy mutters in bitter irony to balance the surprise.

These walls are bare indeed but for a few office magnetic boards that have been swiped clean, and a regular paper print of the Holy Mary stuck crookedly on the wall near the entrance.

Amy follows Ashley's gaze lingering over that one.

"Do they pray?" she asks not holding back the disbelief in her pitch at the sight of the sacred image.

Pretty much out of place, to say the least, borderline surrealistic.

Ashley's eyes narrow for a moment, brow furrowed, then she shrugs as a response and sweeps her attention across the rest of the space.

Drag artist who tells stories on stage through drag. When covid hit I moved it online and mingled with OC cosplayers, accidentally fell in love with an OC... became a writer to woo it's cosplayer. It worked and now I'm 100k+ words deep and looking for engagement rings.

Story about 7 Circles of Demons who have taken over as the ruling class and four main characters trapped in their society. They do stuff like get captured, spy on the gov't/get spied on, have lots of gay sex, and find out what really happened to the humans who used to rule the world.

Depictions of modern slavery (unpaid labor by criminals/indentured servitude).

Smut is a part of the plot, explicit and graphic sexual descriptions.

Depictions of addiction, objectification, racism/speciesism, gaslighting/brainwashing, and abuse that is sexual, physical, and/or mental.

7 Circles depicts a fantasy society based on capitalistic extremism for the purpose of highlighting real injustices and for the catharsis of writing people fighting against it. Depictions of this society DO NOT reflect my views, even when they ‘seem’ positive.

Before Deluca -- Preamble and Links

Before we begin…

The tale I am to relay contains violence, blood, sex, death, impossible agonies, beauty, romance and, above all; deep and drowning obsession. It also spans a few centuries, starting on the cusp of the 18th and ending somewhere around that of the 20th.

Now, during the earlier centuries we’re to cover, magic was hidden, it being the Age of Secrecy and all. So try not to come for me if I mention we used oil lanterns instead of shimmerstones or wisplight. I was not in charge of the lighting. I will also be taking certain liberties in my telling, which I hope will be understood as artistic and not held against me as a lack of knowledge or ability.

We spoke in the early years in a manner too stiff and tangled for modern tongues, with all the thee’s and thou’s and forthwiths and, to be blunt, it is a nightmare to look back on. So I will be omitting those speech patterns, although you are more than welcome to imagine them in all the appropriate areas. Language-wise, we really did mostly speak English. It was the one language we were both fluent enough in that any idiosyncrasies would not be lost. However, we had many conversations, and arguments, in our native tongues that I will do my best to translate as needed…though I cannot guarantee they will make much sense.

As for any other historical inaccuracies, or time discrepancies, I ask that you keep in mind I am but one man and these are my personal memories, which are quite old as of now. If any of it truly bothers you I will be more than willing to discuss it after you have lived through the better part of two centuries as partner and plaything to a jealous melodramatic brat.

Yes, Lucy, I said brat—and I hope you’re reading this.

I feel it is also important, dear reader—paramount perhaps—that you know this is a tragedy. There will be moments where it does not appear one, where you are absolutely certain it can’t be.

But it is.

Ever the optimist, I thoroughly believe there is a happy ending to this tale, my tale, I simply haven’t found it yet.

Now, let us begin…

Sheppard's getting there, guys! He's actually fucking getting there! 😈

He pressed his hand more firmly against Todd's, sensing the pleased rumble he received in response not through his hearing but through his mind, not dissimilar to how Atlantis would wait with bated breath for him to be alone at the end of each day so she could slide into his mind and exist within him and beside him and as him all at once. He'd never told a soul how connected she really was to him, fearing repercussions of compromised and unreliable and mentally unsound. There was nothing the others would understand of the bond. Not even Teyla who had described in detail the desperation of the hive she'd commanded to please her. Because she hadn't wanted it. Sheppard did. Atlantis was beautiful. She needed him. This, this was a fuzzy tickling at the edge of his consciousness, an image seen through a sheen of heat haze, the details blurred and impossible to define, a secretive rivulet of desire that ran deep and had been buried beneath layers upon layers of sand. The desert got bitingly cold at night, Sheppard knew with intolerable familiarity.

I'd missed it the first time, but saw it the second. I saw the clock knocked off the mantle the second time it happened, where no one, most of all myself, stood close enough to do so. The face of it shattered, glass scattering upon the rug. Every head snapped towards the sound, a cry of shock leaving several lips. Every head but one, everyone but Mr. Dartmere, gazing in horror upon the sight.

A man stood from his chair, ashen beneath his sideburns, never looking away from the scene.

“It could not have been a ghost!” he said. “No, it could not have been!”

“It could only have been a ghost,” said Mr. Dartmere, he who sat beside the fire. He shuddered, covered his eyes with his black gloved hand. “Perhaps Miss Penny. Perhaps the senior Mr. Yew. Perhaps even Lord Wantworth!”

He jumped from the velvet chair and paced before the restless flames.

“Oh, goddess!” Mr. Dartmere said. “Oh, blessed goddess, where have I gone wrong?”

DRAFT ZERO and back to chapter (8 ? ) + smug smile sketch in progress

For now Ashley decides to not push it.

She still thinks that she's going to get Amy's back on the safe side of the border sooner than later.

In the meantime they finally managed to get into that fucking red mercedes and drive away.

............

............

"We'll better make a stop." Ashley states.

Amy rummages on the top pocket of her backpack : "I still have some money and my credit card, we can find something for the night and....SHIT!" 

Ashley gives her a surprised look.

"I have to call Phil!"

Who's Phil?

The question crosses Ashley's mind but she doesn't voice it.

"He must be worry sick, if he already got a news about what happened...." Amy's voice trails off, clearly concerned by that eventuality.

She glares at Ashley : "Too bad, I don't have my phone anymore though..."

Ashley barely arches a brow mostly unimpressed by both the implications and the sarcasm held in the remark but still takes note of Amy's urgency : "We'll get a burner at the next gas station."

Right...

The question sounds stupid in her own head but Amy asks anyway : "What about you? Don't you have someone to call?"

At first Amy is met with the usual silence in the guise of an answer, Ashley's gaze stay fixed at the road ahead.

She's not eager to talk with the chief because he'll ask about Amy and Ashley really doesn't look forwards to answer about that.

Instead she spiels off to herself that Amy will call this Phil guy alright and she'll get whatever flight in a couple of day at the most, away from there.

Ashley will be done with it.

Also, it's unlikely that Herrera knows more than her right now anyway, so, what's the point?

Let the man cook for a couple of days.

"I'll keep in mind to call Herrera, just not today." she cuts it short.

Amy says nothing at first, slightly confused by the unexpected lack of enthusiasm.

Not that the events of the last couple of hours would prove otherwise, it's more likely he needs her than she needs him.

Beside, that girl is a mystery.

Amy's mind wanders to a few days before at the police headquarters and the chief telling the story of how him and Ashley had met.

She can't help to wonder what Ashley's life has been like since.

Has she really been by herself all this time?

Amy's the opposite of a person with an intense social life but finds difficult to believe that Ashley just keep strolls by herself through such a hostile world.

She has known hostile but this is a new different level.

Does Ashley live too in survive mode?

Even with having been directly involved with her endeavors the last couple of hours everything Amy's witnessed still feels alien to her and she certainly must return the same impression.

And yet ..... a flickering thought pops, tastes like certitude.

The most alien of all even if she's still anxious to call Phil to not keep him worried in the dark.

Contentment.

Unexpected contentment.

Being with Ashley makes her content in the weirdest way.
