now that x and y hype is alive and well, i wanna say that i think yveltal is one of the best designed legendaries. it’s a beautiful design and i think it really encapsulates what it’s meant to represent

So as I sit here actually finally feeling relaxed enough to work on the Pokemon protag designs for the stories I have, I’ve decided to share the head canons I will 100% be putting into place (some of which are my own, others of which are simply ones I’ve seen and decided I liked) as well as some origins for characters so it’s not just the same thing for each one.
Part one! I’ve seen this so often, but I’ve always kinda liked the concept of the protags for each game being like… chosen by a legendary/mythical? So I’m going with that. Like in Rai’s case, he’s Lunala’s chosen, Saffron would be like a weird case because the whole fusing with Pokemon thing was a wish granted by Jirachi so maybe he’s the outlier in this, but also like he’s the one who caught Miraidon and that’s the box legend… and also she catches Ogrepon which is a legendary so maybe it’s Ogrepon (if you couldn’t tell, Saffron is weird as shit and I’m still trying to figure it out), Rosa is also kinda weird, but I’ve jokingly said to my sibling that maybe she’s the chosen of Terapagos (although I am going to have Kieran catch it here because you know what, he deserved too so I don’t know) so maybe that- but also jokingly I have said Pecharunt could have done something (because I’m all here for Rosa being just a little fucked up). Honestly the Paldea protags are weird as hell and I don’t even know what I’m doing with them-
But basically I have a list for everyone but the Kanto protags (because I haven’t decided officially for those two) and the Paldea protags (who I can’t decide on), and I’m going to write down this list now.
Himari (Kanto): Undecided
Akane (Kanto): Undecided
Sakura (Sinnoh): Palkia or possibly Girantina (I can’t spellllll)
Rento (Sinnoh/Hisui): Dialga or Arceus (probably the latter because of the whole reason he ends up in Hisui)
Kaede (Hoenn): I’ve actually been debating having her be the chosen of both box legendaries for the games just so I can mess with the plot
Shion (Hoenn): possibly Rayquaza? If not probably Kyogre, while Kaede would be Groudon’s (this will be officially decided on when I sketch them)
Buttercup (Unova, first games): Reshiram (you best believe I will pit the twins against each other just to be a jerk)
Clover (Unova, first games): Zekrom (same reasoning as Buttercup)
Clemantis (Unova, second games): Kyurem (trios are fun, and who would I be if I didn’t make the three protags for Unova fit into the trio)
Reine (Kalos): Yveltal (So this one is specifically because Y was the first of these games I owned, and I played as the female protagonist the first time I played, so we ball)
Saule (Kalos): Xerneas (once again, this is specifically because X was the second game I got of these two, and that was when I actually started to play as Male protags, so that’s why)
Alani (Alola): Solgaleo (this directly will influence her unique ability)
Rai (Alola): Lunala (although I almost made it Necrozma for maximum trauma. I may be making him the chosen for both because yes)
Meadow (Galar): Zacian (she catches it)
Fern (Galar): Eternatus (again, she catches it)
Cyanus (Galar): I damn well might make it Calyrex and have him be the protag who does most of the dlc stuff.
Saffron (Paldea): Either Jirachi, Miraidon, or Ogrepon. This is still undecided
Rosa: Terapagos or Pecharunt, but still undecided.
Also these specifically influence both the unique ability I will be giving these guys (which may help me decide on Saffron and Rosa), as well as a specific accessory I give them (for example, I’m currently sketching Alani, and I gave her a hair accessory that looks like the symbol Solagaleo gets on its… forehead? When it uses its Z-move).
This is very long, so I will just make another post later with more of the headcanons after I’ve sketched more of these guys.

Refresher post on Major Life Events that Felix has had, along with canon character (usually protag ‘vibes’ that he shares.) aka Who Is Felix.
Met Professor Oak and his Pikachu for the events of Hey You Pikachu at 6 years old. Does nothing significant™️ besides play with some wild kanto pokemon, meet his Togepi, and journey to Colbalt Coast.  (which, I actually do HC as being Cobalt Coastlands because in hey you, you ride Lapras there. It’s retconned in Channel but perhaps that’s kanto’s connecting grounds, the takeoff beach to Sinnoh/Hisui.)
His Pokehelper breaks at age 13, but he can Speak with wild Pokemon freely. Said wild pokemon have their own TV programs, and Professor Oak contributes to TV tech in the 2000s. Felix meets some Legendaries only to Play- Jirachi, Latias, and Latios. Wild pokemon treat legendaries as really cool and mysterious people! But they hang around to play like any other.
Unfortunately, from age 13-18, Felix’s mother decides that he’s spending too much time in the wild with pokémon, and wants him to ‘grow up’ in the human sense. He spends his schooling years pretty isolated due to dwarfism, ableism (ADHD), mutism, and pining. She does let him travel with relatives, however, so spending vacation time with adult family members in other regions is possible. This puts him squarely in the ‘no longer region locked but still just A Kid and His Pikachu’ status. Were he to encounter Plot, he can get away via his relatives or ability to Talk to pokémon.
At age 18, Felix is an adult and confronts his mother, beginning his Pokémon Journey officially, starting with Oshawott. . Anyone who knew him from childhood can note that he’s becoming aggressive, subtly. Assertion is there, but he does not fly off the handle in Unova, due to holding in his trauma and anger. He becomes the Hero of Ideals and obtains Zekrom, later obtaining Reshiram and Kyurem for White 2, so, becomes the Hero of Truth and sees the balance of Both. These are Touko/Touya and Nate/Mei vibes. His pikachu is always with him, but isn’t keen to battle, as they are not native to Unova and he doesn’t want to be taken or fawned over.
Age 22 starts his Kalos Journey. which is very much Serena vibes. Technically Calem as well, though since he’s aggressively trying to be female.....y’know. Egg. X is what’s canon, and he becomes immortal. Pokemon Amie is canon, so he begins to injure himself out of curiosity in dealing with pokémon post game. Likely in secret, he roughhouses with Pokemon and stops fearing getting hurt by them, or anybody. Lysandre unlocks his rage and anger- it is very uncapped, he’s experiencing high dysphoria paired with the concepts of fashion and beauty, he is suffering. He is trying so hard to be a grown woman, and it is not working.
Age 23 in the Mega Timeline marks a short trip around Hoenn! Felix is Agender, and participates fully in Contests. His Pikachu learns a few moves that he probably ‘shouldn’t’ as a Cosplay Pikachu. This is mostly Agender May Vibes.
Age 25 is Alola! Felix is Felix, and he is A Boy now. So, full on Sun vibes of course! Both player and game version, he is more of a Solgaleo than Lunala. He is absurdly more comfortable, although with Testosterone comes a second puberty- He is physically speaking, a grumpy, sleepy, hungry, amorous ‘teenager’. Wholeass struggling with internalized homophobia, peering into the gay community and all of its Cis Gay Nonsense, feeling alienated on a tiny trans man basis.
Age 27, with SWSH, gives us those Victor vibes. He comes into his own, however, and Felix starts looking less like a stereotypical boy, and more like Felix. He’s embracing his femininity again, as a flaming gay man rather than a scared boy. He is tan, his hair is curly and grown out, he is flamboyant, and he is ready to show off to the world!
Age 30 with Legends is.....both a time loop, and a dead end timeline as in, I currently do not plan for PLA to bleed into Gen 9, we’ll see. He is of course a very feminine and gay Rei, but it makes him look and function more like Akari with time. His amnesia makes him serene and mysterious at first....like a Mystery Dungeon Protagonist. But, being betrayed brings out the anger and trauma. Had he not dropped out of the sky, Akari likely would have taken his place in the timeline. She has the ambition and intelligence, so the only thing holding her back, is seeing him as a role model, or letting him do it. They are different people, but similar in temperament. Moreover...Felix is....complicated, as far as Arceus calling him is concerned. Arceus intended to call All of Felix- A conglomeration of timelines, from all pokemon games. He would have had the knowledge needed to solve every problem! He’s done it before! Blue, Crystal, Ruby, Rescue Team, Explorers, Pearl, Heartgold, White 1 and 2, Gates to Infinity, X, Super Mystery where he’s met Arceus before, Sun, and Shield. But thanks to Giratina attacking him in the timestream, Felix has Amnesia. Felix is gentle, until the trauma deep within his bones is stirred. Because, you can’t get rid of PTSD, even bereft of context. He suffers from it without the original memory attached, much like how it functions normally. Hypervigilance and anger stays, it’s something you have to live with. You have to live with being angry at the world, but Felix notably uses it to Save, rather than destroy, canonically. Who’s to say that he won’t get tired and give up? Only him, probably.

top 5 pokemon :)
I’m actually one of those rare people who doesn’t have a definite all-time favorite Pokemon! So I am going to give you five (5) entire Pokemon that I happen to like in no particular order:
Snivy and its evolutions: Favorite starter undoubtedly! My friends don’t like the Snivy line but their opinion is objectively wrong
Steelix: I’ve actually grown to really like Steelix! My Steelix in Legends specifically was by far my best team member, and she was the first Pokemon to reach level 100 in that game. Love my funny metal snake. 💜
Lunala and its prevolutions: What can I say? They all fit my aesthetic, and Lunala specifically is probably my favorite Legendary Pokemon! Solgaleo is alright too, but I prefer Lunala
Shinx and its evolutions: Every single Sinnoh/Hisui playthrough I’ve ever done has included a Luxray on the team. I can never resist catching myself a Shinx as early as possible, even if it’s not the most versatile choice. I just think it is shaped :)
Zorua and Zoroark: Heho funny fox go *unleashes pent up negative energy and spite in a powerful attack of darkness and looks really badass in both standard and Hisuian forms while doing it*
There’s a bunch of other Pokemon I like but those were the first five I thought of

Sword and Shield were revealed, so now it’s time to try and figure out what the fuck the Boxart legendarily might be based off of
Excalibur and Pridwen
Yeah, these are the obvious ones. Excalibur, as I imagine most of us know, is the sword of King Arthur (actually, one of the swords, but we’re not here to discuss that) that he got from the Lady of the Lake (despite strange women lying in ponds distributing swords being no basis for a system of government), or the sword in the stone. Meanwhile, Pridwen is his shield. Theoretically, this is almost certainly some part in the unseen box art legends origins, and also opens up a third version to be Spear after Rhongomiant... or Knife after Carnwennan. Somehow I doubt that last one. Could also be staff after Merlin’s staff, but IDK.
Geri and Freki
So, that explains the idea of Sword and Shield being... well, Sword and Shield, but that raises the question of what the wolf heads are supposed to mean. One idea I thought of is it being based off of Geri and Freki, two wolves that accompany Odin and pretty much eat and drink everything but the wine Odin lives off of. Alternativly, in a kenning about Viðrir (or Vidrir for those that can’t find that odd symbol or don’t want to copy-paste like I did), one of Odin’s many other names, where they were said to be greedy for the corpses of those that fell in battle (remember, Odin is also at least partially a death god). Coincidentally, Geri and Freki both mean either "the ravenous one” or “the greedy one” in ye olde norse.
Sköll and Hati
Alternativly, they could be based off Sköll and Hati Hróðvitnisson, two children of Fenrir/Fenris that chased the sun goddess Sól (Sköll) and the moon god Máni (Hati) across the sky until Ragnarok when they are eaten. Fun stuff.
Of note, while the UK isn’t a Nordic country, I wouldn’t rule out the possibilities of Gerri and Freki/Sköll and Hati, because of the historic Norman Conquests, the possible Norse influences on Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde (Kalos is France, and iirc France much less influenced by Norse cultures then England at the very least (not compleatly sure about Scotland and Wales. As for the influences, Xerneas=Eikþyrnir and the four stags Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór [the stags on Yggdrassil] along with the Celtic god Cernunnos, Yveltal=Hræsvelgr, Veðrfölnir, and the Celtic goddess the Morrigan and Zygarde= across it’s various forms, Níðhöggr, Loki’s children Fenrir, Jörmungandr, and Hel, Garmr, tsuchinoko the Japanese Cryptid behind Dunsparce, and nāga from South Asia). Also, considering how Hoenn (Kyushu) has it’s boxart legendaries possibly inspired by Jewish myth (Kyogre=Leviathan Groudon=Behemoth, and Rayquaza=Ziz), Platinum (Sinnoh, which is Hokkaido) has one of it’s boxart legendaries partially based off Abrahmic (mostly seems to be Christian and Judaic) myth (while Dialga and Plakia=Izanami and Izanagi, Giratina=Fallen angels [like Lucifer], Archangel Samael from the Talmund, the beasts from Revelations, and the centipede Seta from the Japanese fairytale My Lord Bag of Rice), Unova (New York [really Long Island] and part of New Jersey]) has boxart legendaries inspired by Taoism (Reshiram=Yang, Zekrom=Yin, Kyurem=Wuji, with Reshiram and Zekrom possibly also having some Zoroastrian mixed in [with Rehsiram being Ahura Mazda and Zekrom being Angra Mainyu]), and Alola (Hawaii) has legendaries that draw from various non-Hawaiian sources (Solgaleo=Alchemical Lion and maybe the eye of Ra, Lunala=the Aztec goddess Itzpapalotl, the Mayan god Camazotz, the Samoan goddess Leutogi, and the mythological eight-eyed Pe'a-pe'a-makawalu from Hawaii, and Necrozma=alongside prisism and eclipses, Bulbapedia mentions it [well, Ultra Necrozma] could be based off of the Hawaiian goddess Kihawahine), I don’t think the origins being from another real=life region would mean much, and at least the UK would have some ties to Norse Myth. That’s better then every one of the aforementioned boxart legendary sans Lunala and Necrozma. And more then my next guess, unless you count the romans
Laelaps and the Teumessian Fox, zìxīang máodùn, and the Irresistible Forces Paradox
My other guess is from Greek Myth, which iirc is actually not really represented that much among Pokemon Legendaries. Could be wrong, though. Anyhow (to copypaste from Discord), the Teumessian fox was a giant-ass fox that was destined to never be caught that was sent by Dionysus to terrorize Thebes because of a national crime, which I'm assuming is really just Dionysus being a dick. Anyhow, someone got the idea to use the dog Laelaps, who was maybe a gift from Zeus to Europa and was said to catch whatever she was hunting. This lead to a paradox of if the dog that always catches what she was hunting could catch the fox hat could never be caught, which Zeus thought on too much, got confused and pissed at, and turned them into the constellations Canis Major (Laelaps) and Canis Minor (Teumessian fox). This could be the origin, could fit in with Excalibur and Pridwen, and also more. One is the Chinese idiom zìxīang máodùn, which (going off of wikipedia, so please correct me) means “ from each-other spear shield“ and self-contradiction, due to it being based off of a tale of a merchant selling a spear that could pierce and shield, and a shield that could block any spear. When asked what would happen if the two collided, he responded with silence. Both of these are Irresistible Force Paradoxes, where two opposing unstopable forces are placed against each other, and could be the origin, due to the weapon and armor of the titles (even though it’s a sword, not a spear) and the canine heads (maybe the shield head is actually a fox?)
All of this is just guesswork, however, and won’t be known until we see the Boxart legends
Edit: forgot to mention originally, but the Excalibur and Pridwen idea was mentioned by someone the TVtropes forums, and the Laelaps and Teumessian fox part was inspired by a comment on Gnoggin's video.

SM074 - Thoughts
Holy cow... that was some tough ride. First it makes you laugh, then it crushes you, then it rekindles your inner light. So to speak. If you ask me, I’d say this was an episode well executed. Ula’Ula Arc continues on strong!
Tumblr media
Satoshi is finally on Ula’Ula island Territory, and we get some others news during the scene before opening song kicks in: Alola League is being set up and both Kaki and Satoshi are fired up! We don’t have to argue about Alola League possibility anymore! : D
(Warning, I went quite analysive on this post, specifically about Sakaki and Kuchinashi. Be prepared for a really long post. lol)
I won’t like, it kinda feels hard to figure out where to start. So, why don’t we start with Rocket Gang, because well, the classmates aren’t here, and our only shots of them was from the beginning where Alola League was confirmed by Kukui, who then asked everyone to help out with setting it up. I wonder when it’ll be up for attendance!
Anyway, Rocket Gang!
Tumblr media
While their role in this episode was more of a sideplot and to foreshadow future events, their scenes were very enjoyable and each episode of Sun & Moon makes me love them more and more. Musashi is daydreaming about Mimikkyu-Z move, and Kojiro & Nyarth are just a bit farther looking at the overjoyed Musashi, a bit bummed? Apparently she’s not letting the Z-ring up lol. Typical Musashi. When they see Satoshi the Brat Boy come to Ula Ula via Ship (this kinda reminds me of how they always used to following him on the same ship, esp. at the start of both Hoenn and Sinnoh.), they notice no classmates and immediately realise they might have a chance at winning against him. While we all know they’re doomed to fail (because they really are, nothing is confirmed but I find it hard to believe they’d win, as much as I want them to), I wish them luck! :3
Tumblr media
We then cut to Kuchinashi, who seems to be sleepy, and wants to go take a nap somewhere else than the Police Station. It seems like he’s actually an active policeman in Pokeani. Was he in the games? Local Junsa calls him out in slacking, tho he pretends he’s on patrol and then heads back to Police Station, claiming he forgot something.
Tumblr media
Looks like he was just trying to avoid his over a dozen Alolan Nyarth who keep on asking for food. I’m not cat owner, but apparently this is very relatable. :D This was a cute scene and all, but the next scene is the most intriquing one.
Tumblr media
Kuchinashi receives as call, and while he tries to avoid answering it at first, hoping whoever is phoning him would give up, he eventually picks it up and oh guess who’s there:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Had I not seen the preview, I’d have been more suprised! But I did gasp at the scene while seeing it live thou.
Tumblr media
And Sakaki is addressing Kuchinashi as an old friend? What is their deal here? I mean, SM073 already explained that the two know each other, but it looks like their relationship is deeper (And I mean more mysterious by it). Sakaki doesn’t seem to be aware of Kuchinashi being both Island King and police officer thou so... did they know each other before Kuchinashi became Island King or before he even became a police officer? Is Kuchinashi in Pokeani actually an ex-con who turned to the right side of the law? There’s more to this dialogue that makes me really curious. After small talk, Sakaki says that “he now gets it”. Get’s what exactly? He then tries to pry info out of Kuchinashi about “Kagayaki-sama“, which we localisation fans know as The Blinding One (see what’s being foreshadowed?). I didn’t know what exactly this was until later during the episode when I watched it live, but I had a hunch he might be asking about it. And I was correct. This is the first hint of an incoming arc about Necrozma, and with Sakaki being involved, a possible Rainbow Rocket arc!  I am beyond stoked and excited!
Tumblr media
The way Kuchinashi reacts to the question is really interesting as well. I bet he does know, as we later know it is part of another legend told on Alola. But he seems certain on not letting Sakaki know, telling him he's never heard of it (the man keeps on lying to everyone, pffffft). So, I doubt he’s in league with Rocket Gang but, he might have had some past with them before. More specifically with Sakaki. What kind thou? Guess we’ll find out later this... summer? Autumn? Winter? This arc specifically? I’m finding it hard to predict future stuff for Sun & Moon, it always suprises me in different ways.
Tumblr media
Sakaki expected a lousy answer from Kuchinashi, but like, this line has me so curious? Just what is Sakaki planning? I think he’s gonna have a big part in Necrozma arc, and Pokeani might try doing something original with merging ideas of Rainbow Rocket, Necrozma and the post-game stuff from Sun & Moon games (NOT Ultra ones, since Ultra replaced the Post Game from original games to Rainbow Rocket). Anyway, this quite intense Phone Call is finally hung up (Sakaki didn’t seem too pleased, calling his name just when Kuchinashi says he’s hanging up. He didn’t sound mad or anything, it was quite a calm and collective voice, but it was like he was trying to intimidate him? Idk) after Satoshi starts shouting outside, looking for the Island King himself. I guess our depressed Nyarth cop got off the hook, so to say? At least for now.
Maybe I should have put this part of this post as a seperate one, but... I’m not sure how to format it. If people want me to put it seperately, I can do so. But, moving on!
Tumblr media
Well, before we move on with the plot of this episode, Satoshi gets piled up with Kuchinashi’s Nyarth, and Bevenom causes bit of chaos by shooting some... stuff, at them. Then Bevenom provokes the cats and a fight between Satoshi’s friends and Alolan Nyarth occurs. The cats won. lol Poor Satoshi. Rought start for this Island Pilgrimare.
Tumblr media
And once again, when Kuchinashi gets asked himself as an Island King, he lies, saying Kuchinashi is his co-worker and currently on a patrol. Pfffft. He’s got some tough nerves to keep on lying to strangers. On top of it all, he tricks Satoshi into keeping company to the Alolan Nyarth “until Kuchinashi comes back“. Ruuuuude! He seems to be quite fed up with life. : D But this keeps his character interesting, he’s totally my fav Kahuna now. Sorry Lychee.
Tumblr media
Kuchinashi does take note to Lugarugan and Bevenom specifically before tricking Satoshi into playing with the Nyarth thou. Doing a good job as Island King :)
Tumblr media
So... Satoshi is dead from keeping company before the break time. Poor thing. These Alolan Nyarth sure are attention-hungry. (The Commercial Breaktime part is announced by Sakaki and somehow it gives me shivers lol)
Tumblr media
After showing how exhausted Satoshi is, which is possibly because of playing with the cats for hours, Acerola shows up, searching for Uncle Kuchinashi. I have to say, the way she’s animated during this scene is so cute and gorgeus at the same time? She’s absolutely beautiful in Pokeani, they nailed here so well ♥
Tumblr media
Well, after Satoshi explains Kuchinashi isn’t here and how he’s staying there until the “other officer“ comes back, Acerola blows the old man’s cover. Satoshi’s reaction is a lot calmer compared to Rocket Gan Trio’s, but you can see he’s a bit suprised. He’s also quite calm about Mimi-tan being a ghost. The pictures Rotom took were quite spooky... Acerola then offers Satoshi to take him to Kuchinashi, as if knowing she’ll know how to find him. This girl knows this man well, huh?
Tumblr media
And just look at this animation, it’s perfection. The leg movement, the pose, the cuteness, the gorgeusness! That’s it, she’s my fav Pokeani character now. I’m gonna be sad when Ula Ula Arc is over I’m so sad she’s not a classmate ;_; She better appear more later on!
Tumblr media
Back on topic, they head to the library Acerola works at, and after a small introduction to the place, Acerola brings up a book about a local legend, to which Bevenom seems to show being curious on. And so am I!
Tumblr media
To explain it shortly, legend is about The Blinding One (Ultra Necrozma), Lunala and Solgaleo bringing light to a newly founded Alola Region, which was without a light at the time. If you want a full recap, I’ll point you to this post.
So, we now know some lore about Alola in Pokeaniverse! I love lore, and I was stoked to learn about Pokeani’s version of the Necrozma legend. It’s a bit different to the game one, where the Blinding One is a legend told in Ultra Megaopolis instead of Alola, and it’s actually about Necrozma itself instead of Ultra Necrozma. I wonder how they’ll showcase the hostile, incomplete Necrozma, who’s supposed to be in constant pain unless it fuses with Lunala/Solgaleo... hmmmmm. I’m worrying over Hoshigumo/Nebby now. Because of the Pokedex entries.
Acerola then informs Satoshi that Uncle Kuchinashi believes The Blinding One to be an Ultra beast. This bit also confirms Kuchinashi knows about the legend, and lied to Sakaki about. XD Ofc, the mafia boss didn’t believe him.
Tumblr media
Well, what we didn’t see until the last second of the scene is that Rocket Gang is back to tailing Satoshi, and they have now learned about the tale of The Blinding One. They don’t know that Sakaki knows about it already, because they want to go and inform him right away. Weeell, they get scolded by Matori later in the episode for not bringing in new info anyway. Poor buffoons.
Small bits I like about this episode: How Mokuroh is absolutely adorable throughout it (I want to see the part where Satoshi feeds Mokuroh giffed it’s so CUTE) and Mimi-tan actually fancying Pikachu, unlike some other Mimikyu we know :))
Tumblr media
I gotta say, the dynamic between Satoshi and Acerola is quite enjoyable. Satoshi is shown a bit restless here, wanting to go search for Kuchinashi at the Police Station, while Acerola just with proudness claims that there’s no need. Because she’s got the ultimate weapon for getting him to her: the hostage! Of his Kendama toy.
Tumblr media
She’s adorable. How did Kuchinashi end up becoming her carer. That’s it this is my new Discord avatar. Welp. Her hostage works, because Kuchinashi comes right to her house.
Tumblr media
I think this line confirmes Satoshi is gonna do another trial before SM077, and I think it’ll be the Ghost Trial. Maybe it’s a bit different to the games, since SM076 is gonna be Musashi’s Mimikyu VS Satoshi’s Pikachu. And they’re hyping it with different summaries, a lot. We’ll see, I’m not really having any ideas how they could portray Totem Mimikyu in the same episode. But I can see him getting the Ghost-Z Crystal. Anyway, let’s move on.
Kuchinashi denies Satoshi’s challenge, stating he can already see that he’s not strong enough to challenge them. He even tells him to go back to Melemele. Kinda harsh. Acerola convinces him to give the boy a try thou (by giving him glares and claming Kuchinashi is just finding his job a pain), so they’re gonna do a Pre-Trial for Trials. : D Which btw, is the highlight of this episode. I love how Kuchinashi seems to be unable to say no to Acerola. What a duo they are.
Tumblr media
So, Kuchinashi uses Waruvial with the Intimidate Ability, while Satoshi uses Lugarugan, who showed interest in fighing earlier. However, we can see Lugarugan getting intimidated by this ability, and as we know, he’s got anger issues.
Btw, Kuchinashi doesn’t show a single interest in this fight. He looks bored. He knows he’s gonna win.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, each time Lugarugan gets intimidated by Waruvial, it gets angrier, and Satoshi notices this. He tries to calm Lugarugan, and well, so far it’s still listening, but...
Tumblr media
None of Lugarugan’s move have an effect on Waruvial, and Kuchinashi manages to get Lugarugan trapped in a Sand Tomb. And well, this is where things get really serious.
Tumblr media
Red-Eyed Lugarugan is back, and it’s not because of dirt, but because of not being able to control his own anger. I feel bad for thinking it was due to dirt. SM069 already kinda showed that it wasn’t related to dirt, because Lugarugan was dirty there. But let’s continue. Because this is where I start feeling ache in my heart.
Tumblr media
Honestly, Satoshi looks terrified here. He knows what’s gonna happen. He knows already he won’t be able to control him! And he’s right!
The fight turns into Lugarugan not listening to any words Satoshi says, and it just keeps on biting Waruvial like a wild raging dog. It’s scary. It’s terrifying. And Satoshi has every right to be scared. But Kuchinashi?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s just being rude ass here, like he’s enjoying this scenario here. He seems so savage during this whole scene. Like he’s toying with the boy. And I sort of want to slap Kuchinashi for this, but then again, I love what Pokeani is doing with him here! We haven’t had Gym Leaders like him before, and to top it all, this is the first Dark-Type specialist Satoshi has to beat. Acerola is scared at Lugarugan here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kuchinashi does creepy smiles here while waiting for the right moment to counter enraged Lugarugan. You can see he’s a dark-type specialist. It sort of flows around him. Once the following scenes happens thou...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cue the screenshot that starts breaking me. Seriously. We haven’t seen him look like this in whole Alola! He’s breaking!
Tumblr media
And when Kuchinashi orders Waruvial to use Crunch, and it lands on Lugarugan perfectly...
Tumblr media
Cue the most heartbreaking scene I have ever seen of Satoshi. I mean it. This is what breaks my heart! XYZ’s loss against Wurfic wasn’t enough, thou it was close! And I just had to see this similar shot of someone else in another show, so to see it this soon in Pokeani, with Satoshi, hurts so god damn much!
Tumblr media
Lugarugan falls down, and the fight is over.
Tumblr media
With Satoshi in disbelief. Seriously. I started crying few moments ago already. He looks so devastated. He’s lost before. But somehow this loss hurt so much more than other losses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he goes to Lugarugan and asks him if it’s alright, seriously, he looks like he’s about to cry. He’s at the line of the breaking point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he’s certainly keeping it in! He’s about to cry! ;_; And so am I hold on. I have to point out that Rica Matsumoto’s performance in this scene, and the next, is absolutely beautiful and I applaud her for a job well done.
Tumblr media
Kuchinashi just straight up tells Satoshi that he should go back to Melemele Island. But the way Satoshi says the following line?
Tumblr media
He’s saying it with the kind of voice that implicates that he’s so ready to cry and he’s determined on not giving up! I love this boy, and due to how impactful this scene is, I love the whole sequence of the scene, from start of the fight to the finish of this scene, whole lot!
Tumblr media
This is the Satoshi we’ve learned to love. Determined to never give up. Determined to stay on the Island and train to become stronger, to be able to beat Kuchinashi. It’s admirable, inspiring, and I was once again reminded why this boy is such a golden one. I can’t believe I used to think lousy stuff about him years ago. I feel awful.
Anyway, Kuchinashi then tells him to do as he pleases. We then have another foreshadowing from Rocket Gang for the SM076, and I kinda explained the scene before, so, moving on! (Sorry Rocket Gang you know I love them D:)
Tumblr media
The final scene is a good one as well. Lugarugan is sulking alone about the loss, and Satoshi goes to him, talking about how he’s frustrated, and how they weren’t able to do anything during the battle. It was very one-sided after all. He’s clearly disappointed. But then he apologizes to Lugarugan, like he seems to believe it’s his fault he can’t control Lugarugan’s anger issues. And well. He’d never blame his Pokemon. His friends. He then asks Acerola about where he could train on Ula’Ula Island, and Acerola suggests on meeting with Kapu-Bulul. Which is next week’s episode!
Tumblr media
The end of SM074! I don’t know why I went such detail on this one. I’m blaming it on plot elements, creating my new favourite scene in Pokeani, making me love Acerola and Kuchinashi more, etc etc etc. If you guys managed to read this all, I applaud you. And sorry for sucha long post. :’D
Tumblr media
Pokeproblem of the episode is stunning. Kuchinashi loves teasing his Nyarth.
Tumblr media
While the preview talks about Island Kings resembling the Island Deityes by their personalities (bless the preview dialogues), we’ll be heading to the Ruins of Abudance, where Kapu-Bulul resides. And they’ll be crossing the desert to get there! Time for some slacker training!
Tumblr media
Kapu-Bulul! Intense Slacker Training! Cya all next week!

What do you know about legendary ghost pokemon, like giratina or marshadow?
Oh, I’ve been hoping I would get an ask like this! legendaryPokémon are some of my favorite things!
First of all… you might not believe it, but I’ve actually hadthe chance to meet one of the legendary ghost Pokémon: Lunala! The exactdetails of how and when are confidential, but I can confirm that she lives in Alola!Lunala has two pre-evolutions: Cosmog and Cosmoem, both psychic types, butLunala is psychic/ghost (it’s also possible for Cosmoem to evolve intoSolgaleo, part steel!). Lunala has connections to another dimension calledUltra Space, and can open up Ultra Wormholes to those spaces. One really coolthing Lunala can do is harness the power of the moon’s light, making it appeardark, then can use that power in concentrated blasts. She’s a really sweetPokémon, and I wish you could meet her!
Speaking of Ultra Space, I have heard of at least two moreexamples of Pokémon that come from there. One can apparently fuse with Lunalato become ghost, and I know almost nothing about the other that comes fromthere, other than that it has the code name “UB Burst”. I’ll make sure toresearch both the next time I’m in Alola.
I suppose the next one to talk about is Hoopa. I haven’t donemuch research on this one yet, either, and probably don’t know much more aboutit than anybody else. It’s psychic/ghost, like Lunala, and has another formthat’s psychic/dark. It’s known to teleport things with the hoops it has, andsome legends state it stole an entire castle, but I don’t have much other thanthat.
Giratina, though… this is one of my favorites. I’ve studiedthe Sinnoh myths for a long time, as that’s my native region, and everythingabout Arceus and the Pokémon it created are fascinating to me! I won’t go intotoo many details about that now, though. It’s a ghost/dragon type, and it livesin the Distortion World, a different dimension. Its body is made of a substanceunlike anything even in our universe, so it’s forced to change its shape andcomposition upon entering ours.
And, of course… Marshadow! Marshadow has got to be the mostmysterious legendary I know. From what I can tell, it’s a fighting/ghost type, and that’s basically it. But! After meeting with Johto’s ghost Gym Leader,Morty, I’ve learned he’d been adamantly studying legendary Pokémon, and inparticular, Ho-oh. And, in his research, he’s found vague records of Marshadowguarding it! It might be a long shot, but since then I’ve been studying andsearching for Ho-oh with him, and in the process, for Marshadow!
There is more I know abouta few of these, but I tried to keep it simple for now-this is already a VERY longpost. I’ll be sure to talk about them in the future, though!

That time already to talk about Pokemon again??? Aye.
The Pokemon universe AU by the way, not the DmC one.
I expanded upon that one idea re: Mundus controlling legendary Pokemon and the whole Team Galactic thing. He may have very much to do with Team Galactic, even working alongside Cyrus to get what he wants out of them. He’d play Cyrus like a fiddle, actually intending to use the Red Chain for his own plot. Maybe even attempting to summon Arceus to control it separately, independent. Sinnoh is where he makes his appearance, and of course it has to be the region Vergil’s from. Now let’s assume Vergil’s with Dante because a Pokemon adventure is double the fun with a friend. :U
The big thing here is that Mundus would have a recurring role, being the one antagonist that somehow flees his demise without fail. So if he’s thwarted in Sinnoh, he’s off hopping from region to region trying to get what he wants but these meddling kids keep ruining it all for him. From Sinnoh he’d go to Unova, wanting to capture Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom with maybe the intention of fusing them all so that they may become the original single dragon of legend. Vergil and Dante pretty much pursue vague leads pointing to him (or they happen to be in the same place at the same time) across the globe. He’s stopped in Unova, too, and flees to Kalos where he works closely with Team Flare, using them as cover and of course playing them all like fiddles, helping Lysandre but really just helping himself. I forget the deets but the plot of X/Y was something about creating a world based on beauty...? Powering up an ancient weapon and. shit. Definitely gotta take control of Yveltal though that’s a given. But even then, the twins put the brakes on his ambitions (this time with the help of Xerneas pls help me) and send him fleeing to... heck maybe Alola. And he’d definitely join up with the Aether Foundation to take advantage of them. Fucking Lusamine would love him and welcome him into Ultra Space but wait until he betrays her lmao quite probably stealing the Ultra Beasts and manipulating them, including Ultra Wormholes.
Brah he would totally manipulate all three Type: Null (before Gladion runs off with one), meaning to use them against any opposition. So, Vergil and Dante, basically. They’re always a problem. Them, and the island guardians as well. He’d want to kill them all, in essence. :^I And he’d use the Ultra Beasts and the Type: Null to do it.
But, my dude, can you imagine the boys in Alola it’d be fucking hell for them and Vergil most of all omg. Dressing light, looking like Floridian tourists, pretty dissatisfied with the whole summery island vibe. However he’d purely accidentally come into an Alolan Pokedex which his Rotom zips right into and it’d be fucking cute. The first time a Pokemon (sort of??) talks to him in a human language. It booting up for the first time and calling him its user and being very proud about its being the smartest Pokedex ever and scanning legendary Pokemon OOPS. But yeah, and if he’d ever need it for anything outside of ‘dexing, it can pop out of the Pokedex any time. It’d be amazing. This whole fucking thing would be amazing. They’d get to take care of Cosmog (THEY BETTER CALL IT NEBBY), help it evolve into either Solgaleo or Lunala.
Can I please just--

The thing about Kukui is that, his annoying speech pattern* aside, he could have been such an interesting character.
(*Note before I go further: It’s not the slang I have a problem with, it’s the over-abundance of slang. Hau used some Hawaiian slang as well in his speech, but it was peppered in naturally. Kukui broke up every sentence with a “hoo!” or “whoa!” and it just . . . read as very unnatural and difficult to get through. Had NoA / Game Freak toned it down some, it would have been a lot more tolerable.)
As annoyed as I am by the fact that so much focus was put on Kukui and his desire for a League, rather than letting Burnet be the prominent professor given that her career focus actually has relevance to the overall plot, Kukui’s desire to make Alola into a region with a League system for government could have been an interesting story to tell as well, particularly since the seeds are there for it to actually be a lot deeper and more serious than it is actually presented in the game. Alola, as we know it, is a religious oligarchy; multiple mentions are made to the fact that the people of Alola actually worship the Tapu, seeing them as guardian deities (and that Solgaleo and Lunala are, similarly, seen as deities, albeit far less present ones), and we know that the Kahunas are a.) chosen by the Tapu, and b.) basically govern each island. It is said that someone who is chosen to be a Kahuna by a Tapu cannot refuse the duty (or else Nanu would no doubt have refused), and also that the people more or less follow the Kahunas without much question. Team Skull are the exception to this, but they’re seen as outcasts and degenerates, to the point where they have to steal food from the Berry Gardens in SM just to have something to eat (I noticed they cut that bit out of USUM, probably because they didn’t want to make Team Skull seem sympathetic, even though they still are). Considering the fact that the Kahunas are also the ones who choose the Trial Captains, Alola’s entire system of government is essentially dependent on the whims of four pokémon, most of whom don’t even show themselves to the general populace with anything even approaching regularity.
Over the course of the game, Kukui tells us that he got the idea to form a League in Alola during his Badge quest in Kanto. Now, while we know from a Doylist standpoint that Kanto was chosen as the region Kukui journeyed through because it was the 20th anniversary and Game Freak wanted to pay tribute, from a Watsonian standpoint this actually makes the fact that Kukui decided to basically overturn Alola’s system of government after a journey abroad very interesting, because while there are many other regions that have a League system of government, none of them are the antithesis to everything Alola is like Kanto is.
Of all the regions we have had so far, Kanto is the region that is the least steeped in faith. Its sister region, Johto, is very faithful to its legends, history, and traditions; the closest Johto ever got to truly stepping away was during the war that set the Burned Tower on fire, and after that the Johtoans learned their lesson. Although they do have a Radio Tower in Goldenrod City, as well as the Magnet Train connecting Goldenrod and Saffron, it’s clear from cities and towns such as Ecruteak, Azalea, and Blackthorn that Johto is still very traditionalist and isn’t moving away from that any time soon. Similarly, while Hoenn is more modern in some respects, cities such as Sootopolis still deeply respect their culture, the Draconids (while they have been marginalized pretty severely) still hold fast and true to their traditions, and places such as Mt Pyre and the Sky Pillar make it clear that Hoenn hasn’t forgotten its roots and still cares for its history. Sinnoh is so deep in myth and lore that it’s a tagline, and its Champion, Cynthia, actively works to keep those traditions alive. Statues, markers, and sacred sites to legends such as the creation trio or the lake trio are everywhere in Sinnoh. The fact that Johto and Sinnoh are so connected (via the Sinjoh Ruins) just goes to show how deeply faithful both of these regions are. Unova is very modern, but again, it’s founded on a legend that it adheres pretty strongly to, what with the Tao orbs sticking around after so long, and random citizenry telling you about the djinn trio, et cetera. Lastly, I can’t recall Kalos having any shrines or the like for its legends, and it’s not as if the ultimate weapon is a good thing, but while it probably comes second to Kanto for being the least faithful, it still hasn’t quite committed the slights that make Kanto seem, to me, like an anti-faith region rather than a neutral-faith region.
You see, Kanto once had a tower that was built to house and honor dead pokémon. Kanto then, in the span of three years, decided to rip it down in order to build a radio tower there instead (and then wondered why the radio tower was haunted, I mean, ffs guys, you desecrated a sacred pokémon burial gound to build your gaudy radio tower, why do you think it’s haunted?). Kanto has four natural legendary pokémon (the birds + Mew), and yet there is not a single tribute, shrine, or marker for any of them. Instead:
Zapdos is forced to hole up in an abandoned power plant. Three years later the power plant is in use again, so I’m assuming Zapdos got told to gtfo.
Moltres is forced to hole up in an abandoned laboratory on Cinnabar Island in the first gen. Three years later the volcano on Cinnabar erupted, so Moltres’ home was gone and it had to gtfo. In the FRLG remakes, Moltres has a mountain in the Sevii Islands instead, so I guess that’s a bit better, but it’s still not a place in Kanto proper, unlike how Ho-Oh has an entire tower to itself in Johto.
Articuno is in the Seafoam Islands. So, not much worse than what Lugia has, I guess, but still nothing approaching any sort of tribute.
And Mew . . .
Oh, Mew.
So, most Kantonians know nothing about their myths or legends. Even in regions such as Unova or Kalos, where things are quite modern and you don’t often see shrines or the like, you’ll have NPCs telling you things about the various legendary pokémon. The people still know of them, but this isn’t something that you see in Kanto. Or at least, despite the fact that I remember random dialogue from Team Rocket grunts in Kanto (e.g. I squealed when a Team Rainbow Rocket grunt said to me, “I won’t go easy on you just because you’re a kid! It’s time you learned to fear adults!” in USUM because a Team Rocket grunt says that to you in I think Silph Co. in RGBY (and if not Silph Co., then the Game Corner), I don’t ever remember NPCs talking about the legendary birds. Instead, the legendary birds were just there, and you could find and capture them if you wanted. No one in Kanto cared about them.
Mew . . . is a slightly different story.
You don’t learn about Mew through NPC dialogue. Rather, you learn about Mew (and Mewtwo) through journals that were left in the ruins of the abandoned laboratory on Cinnabar Island (called Pokémon Mansion in game, but the journals tell you what it was used for). It turns out that one Kantonian did care about Mew, enough to seek out and capture Mew for his own research, and that Kantonian was Dr Fuji. Dr Fuji traveled to Guyana, South America Faraway Island, and while the journals left in the abandoned / destroyed laboratory say that they “discovered” Mew there, and that they “christiened” the pokémon Mew, I . . . find it extremely hard to believe that Dr Fuji didn’t know that this was Mew, and that knowing that this was Mew wasn’t his reason for wanting to clone it, especially since the journals don’t . . . exactly give an accurate account of what happened. (For instance, the journals say that Mew “gave birth” to Mewtwo, which we all know is impossible and thus did not happen.)
Back to the point:
Dr Fuji traveled to Faraway Island, captured Mew, and brought Mew back to the laboratory on Cinnabar Island in order to clone it. The fact that Mew was so far away from Kanto (presumably; Faraway Island is called Faraway Island in Emerald, meaning that it’s “far away from Hoenn”, so it could be close to Kanto, but the journals in Gen I say that Mew was found in South America, which is quite far away from Kanto if Kanto is presumably in the same geographical location as Japan, so . . . who knows) might speak to how Mew found life in Kanto, whether that be “horrible” or even just “not worthwhile.” I mean, again, there are no shrines to Mew, despite Mew supposedly being the origin of all pokémon (things get a bit dicey considering Arceus, but perhaps Arceus created Mew first, and then all others spawned from Mew? Who knows). You would think Kantonians would be proud to call Mew their own, but no one does. There are no tributes to Mew anywhere, Kantonians just do not care. Though that said, Dr Fuji cared . . .
. . . at least enough to want to clone it. Now, the journals don’t say why Dr Fuji decided to clone Mew (and no, it wasn’t because Giovanni paid him to; that’s only in the anime, in the games Giovanni had nothing to do with Mewtwo’s creation, at least in the non-mega reality). In fact, again, the journals don’t say that Mewtwo was cloned from Mew at all. This is literally all the journals say:
“Diary: July 5 Guyana, South America A new Pokémon was discovered deep in the jungle.
Diary: July 10 We christened the newly discovered Pokémon, Mew.
Diary: Feb. 6 Mew gave birth. We named the newborn Mewtwo.
Diary: Sept. 1 MEWTWO is far too powerful. We have failed to curb its vicious tendencies…
The Japanese text for the last entry is a bit different, but not really.
Diary: September 1 The Pokémon Mewtwo is far too powerful. It's no use… I cannot control it!
The most notable difference is that, in the Japanese version, Dr Fuji talks about wanting to control Mewtwo, whereas that implication is left out of the English version. Nonetheless, Mewtwo’s Pokédex entries tell us all we need to know about Mewtwo’s creation, even if Dr Fuji tried to deny accountability in his journal entries:
RED/BLUE:
“It was created by a scientist after years of horrific gene splicing and DNA engineering experiments.”
GOLD:
“Because its battle abilities were raised to the ultimate level, it thinks only of defeating its foes.”
CRYSTAL:
“Said to rest quietly in an undiscovered cave, this pokémon was created solely for battling.”
RUBY/SAPPHIRE:
“Mewtwo is a pokémon that was created by genetic manipulation. However, even though the scientific power of humans created this pokémon's body, they failed to endow Mewtwo with a compassionate heart.”
FIRERED:
“A pokémon whose genetic code was repeatedly recombined for research. It turned vicious as a result.”
DIAMOND/PEARL:
“A pokémon created by recombining Mew's genes. It's said to have the most savage heart among pokémon.”
And so on and so forth. Though Dr Fuji chose to omit this fact in his journals, Mewtwo was created through “horrific gene splicing experiments”, and given that Mewtwo was created to be extremely powerful (“its battle abilities were raised to the ultimate level” “created solely for battling”), but also because Dr Fuji wanted to see if he could (“repeatedly recombined for research”), we can pretty easily piece together exactly why Mewtwo was created, and why it’s the vicious, heartless killer it is today. (Because while anime!Mewtwo has a kind heart, game!Mewtwo does not. This is canonical fact. Please stop trying to force game!Mewtwo into leather pants before it murders you for the act, thanks.)
I bring all of this up because the one Kantonian we have who, canonically, probably paid at least some modicum of attention to legends, decided to not only not pay any sort of faithful adherence to said legendary, but actually chose to capture and imprison the legendary he found, perform horrific gene splicing experiments on it for years, and then created a new pokémon which then proceeded to . . . well, we don’t actually know what happened to Dr Fuji’s team. The games don’t tell us, and again, anime =/= games. However, given that Dr Fuji failed to control Mewtwo, and given that the lab was abandoned, and given that this incident caused Dr Fuji to realize the error of his ways . . . well, we can guess. Mewtwo escaped and went to hole up in the Unknown Dungeon off the coast of Cerulean. Dr Fuji survived, and renounced his Ph.D to become Mr Fuji instead, keeping watch over the Lavender Tower until his fellow Kantonians tore it down to build a radio tower there instead (and then he kept watch over the Soul House). But before he did that, he made one last trip to Faraway Island, and given that you can capture Mew there in Emerald, I’m guessing that Dr Fuji personally released Mew there, rather than Mew escaping (perhaps Mew was too weak after so many years of being horrifically experimented on to escape? Who knows). Dr Fuji also left a note on a sign there, and though it’s worn away:
“…ber, 6th day If any human…sets foot here… again…et it be a kindhearted pers… …ith that hope, I depar…” …ji”
We can assume it read like:
“…ber, 6th day If any human being sets foot here ever again, let it be a kindhearted person. With that hope, I depart.” Fuji”
So, Fuji admitted that what he did was not at all kindhearted, and certainly was not done as any act of reverence toward what would, in a region other than Kanto, be considered a god.
And that brings me back to my original point.
Kanto is not only not a faith-based region---Kanto tends to be the opposite of that. The Alolans, from what we see of them, would be horrified by anyone even suggesting they do to one of the Tapu what Fuji did to Mew (and particularly for the reasons that Fuji did that to Mew). It was to the point where, in order to give Lusamine somewhat of a redemption for wanting to sacrifice Cosmog, Game Freak had to write USUM in such a way that Lusamine’s actions were seen as antiheroic rather than straight-up villainous. (Which, yes, I have a lot of issues with, but that’s a discussion for another time.) Alola is deeply faith-based, to the point where their system of government is a religious oligarchy. Kanto is not only not that, but they have absolutely no awareness of their legendaries at all, and when they do get that awareness, they see it as an opportunity to capture and experiment (or make a buck from) rather than pay adherence and reverence to. Kanto is, as I stated earlier, the antithesis of Alola, in so many ways.
So it’s interesting, to me, that Kukui decided to (in a logically written story) dismantle Alola’s system of government after traveling through Kanto. The conclusion I draw from this, as a writer and someone who studies character therefore, is that as Kukui traveled through Kanto on his Badge quest, he actually dismantled and rebuilt his own internal system of meanings. Kukui traveled through Kanto and saw a region where the people don’t worship legendary pokémon. In fact, it’s highly possible that Kantonians would laugh at the mere idea, because to them, pokémon are pokémon, no matter how powerful. Why would you worship something you can capture in a ‘ball and make fight for you? The only person who would likely disagree with this notion is Fuji himself, but even then, Fuji once captured Mew and performed experiments on it. Even if Mewtwo was too powerful for him to control, and even if he regrets his actions now, I still wouldn’t say that means that Fuji would think that pokémon should ever be worshiped. Fuji would instead likely say that there are some pokémon better left alone, or at least left to powerful trainers with kind hearts, but I think even he would balk a little at the idea of pokémon being worshiped like that. At the very least, I think that the people of Kanto might see the people of Alola as being . . . backwards, and yes, that is very nasty language, but Kanto is not all sunshine, butterfree, and rainbows, you know? And I really do think that the people of Kanto would look down on Alola’s religious oligarchy, and would see the fact that the Alolan people defer to pokémon as being especially hilarious. That said, the Alolan people treat Kantonians with similarly touristy vibes (see: the “Kantonian Gym” in USUM), so it’s not as if this isn’t a two-way street.
Nonetheless, back on subject: What I see in this story is potential for Kukui to have, as I said before, completely dismantled his systems of meanings and beliefs during his journey through Kanto. I think that, at first, the fact that Kantonians have absolutely no reverence for or adherence to any pokémon as anything other than companions (for battling) or pets would shock and confuse him. He’d balk at this, he’d question it. But more and more as he traveled, he’d come to see things the way they see it. He would see how much more respected Kanto is in the grander world scheme than Alola (particularly in the way that Kantonian influence hits pretty much every other region; we have Doylist reasons for this, of course, but from a Watsonian standpoint the implications of that are pretty interesting, particularly when you consider that Johto still relies on Kanto to a degree, and Sevii is basically a Kantonian territory). And I think that, over the course of this journey and a long period of thought, the conclusion Kukui would reach would be that he would want something at least similar for Alola, which would mean dismantling the old system of religious oligarchy and switching to a League system instead.
Now, the games didn’t go all the way with this, because of course they didn’t. Kukui’s actual plan would create something akin to a civil war in Alola, complete with the Tapu themselves no doubt getting involved because they would not want to face such disrespect, and Game Freak couldn’t / wouldn’t show that. So instead what we got was Kukui just creating an Elite Four for the player to face, and naming the player Champion, and having the player therefore take on some Champion duties, such as protecting the region from region-wide threats (i.e. Team Rainbow Rocket). That’s all well and good, but a League system of government is much more than that. Leagues have Gyms and Gym Leaders, for instance, rather than Kahunas and Trial Captains. And Gym Leaders, well . . . they’re not chosen by legendary pokémon. So in the actual games themselves, Kukui didn’t actually dismantle Alola’s religious oligarchy. He just sort of . . . half-assed it, in a way that makes Alola’s League seem like a cute thing the rest of the world will kind of smile at rather than take seriously the way Kukui wanted. But if they did go all the way with it?
Well, like I said. It likely would have amounted to civil war, with Kukui at the head of the revolution, assisted by the Kantonian player that he specifically helped move to Alola for this very reason.
Kukui is, presumably, a smart guy, so he would know that this plan of his would not go over well. He would have some help; Burnet is originally from Unova, which also has a League system, and so presumably she would see the merit in what he’s doing, particularly since I don’t think Kukui would come to hate the Tapu so much as he would no longer agree that they should get to dictate who their governmental leaders are. Molayne is Kukui’s amicable ex childhood friend, so he might help as well. Guzma hates the Kahunas and the Trial Captains and everything else, so count in him and the rest of Team Skull. It’s possible (though I don’t have sound reasoning for this other than “they joined the Elite Four”) that Kukui could convince Olivia, Acerola, and Kahili as well. Oh, and Nanu, because Nanu hates his job, so.
But the others?
Hala in particular would no doubt be very against it, considering factors such as his own role, his age, the fact that this has apparently been passed down his family, how deep into tradition he is, et cetera. I can’t see characters such as Illima and Kiawe being for it either, especially given how passionate Kiawe is about his own historical traditions and the like. And all of this isn’t even considering the average Alolan citizen, all of whom would be wrapped up in this, particularly if the Tapu themselves got involved.
And as for the player?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I can’t see a Kantonian, born and raised, finding much sense in the Alolan traditions or religious oligarchy. It’s clear that the player and their mother didn’t move to Alola because they want to adopt these belief systems; the protagonist’s mother pretty clearly moved them there because Alola is a good vacation spot. She’s clearly there just to party. The protagonist, having been born and raised in Kanto for the first eleven years, would no doubt experience some severe culture shock upon moving to Alola, and might even balk or have some shocked laughter when the Alolan people mention worshiping the Tapu, because that’s just not a thing in Kanto. And yes, that’s very ignorant, but just because the protagonist is, well, the protagonist doesn’t mean they have to be nice and the very best person ever! They were raised in a culture that is just the farthest thing from this that you can imagine, and so when you tell them that these people worship pokémon---not just use their names as vulgar interjections when stubbing their toes, sometimes, but actually worship them, with shrines and festivals and everything---they’re likely to just . . . smile and nod, at best. It’s not going to be something they understand, believe in, or take very seriously. Even when Tapu Koko saves them, well, Tapu Koko is still just a pokémon. How is Tapu Koko any more special than a golurk? A golurk could have saved the protagonist just the same. Is everyone going to start worshiping golurk now?
And that’s what Kukui is counting on.
Kukui guides the protagonist through Alola because Kukui is counting on the protagonist to be a key component of his revolution, particularly since the protagonist is a Young Person™ who can speak to other Young People™ and convince them as well. (Such as Hau, who would follow his grandfather’s ideals at first, but with the right influence . . .) When the time comes and the protagonist captures Nebby (either form), Kukui points to the protagonist and says, “See? Solgaleo/Lunala was a supposed god, but [protagonist] captured it! These aren’t deities we should worship, yeah? They’re pokémon like any other, and we should take them---and our destiny---into our own hands!” Kukui then is the one to urge the protagonist to capture the Tapu as well, and the protagonist does . . . well, not only does half of Alola see them as a heretic, but the other half’s voices and argument grow louder and stronger. It’s complete chaos, but Kukui feels it’s necessary to “modernize” Alola and move it to a place where it can stand equal with the other regions of the world (who, while they may have faith, still don’t defer to legendary pokémon to decide their fates for them).
Again, I can see why Game Freak didn’t go this route. How do you resolve a story like this? Either way you send what is no doubt a very polarizing message. But it does frustrate me a little bit that the tease is there, that Kukui had potential to be such a dynamic and interesting character, and instead he just . . . was not. At all. At least, not to me. I actually find him to be one of the most grating and annoying of the professors. Elm had no personality, but at least he wasn’t irritating, you know?
But oh well. Wasted potential is nothing new for this series. Maybe I’ll do a rewrite of the Alola games to feature this story instead. Someday . . .

I was asked to put together a list of common themes in the Pokémon franchise that you’d wanna pay attention to for a Fan Game. This is opinion based, since everything’s so vaguely connected instead of outright.
Starter Pokémon
With any Pokémon game it’s essential to have a starter trio. I don’t pay a load of attention to fan-made game arcs, but, from what I’ve seen most starters that fans design are a little out of touch in the aspect that they’re not designed with actual appeal in mind. Game Freak consistently creates starters that are supposed to be cute, lovable mascots. So whatever you choose, it’s gotta be lovable and marketable (it can be cool and badass later, it’ll evolve) this will add to the believability of a fake game. Also, it’s best to pick some real life animal to base your starters off of. This makes them more familiar to the player.
Professor
Of course, you’ll need a professor studying the region and you don’t wanna get too wild with creativity here. Rowan isn’t wearing a white jacket, Juniper is a girl, sure, but you don’t wanna go off the rails and make the professor too different from the others- stick with a tree name, keep to the idea rolling.
Region
And, of course, the region. Every pokémon core installation has a (at least one) region tied to a real earth location, Most in Japan, but since Gen V, they’ve based them off of two locations in The US and one in France. All this means for your region is it will somehow resemble the area in climate and population. Sinnoh is a very snowy region due to it being based so high in the mountains in Japan, Unova has a massive city (NYC)- so on. This sometimes has massive effects on what pokémon your game should include. Generation VII has a lot of tropical pokémon to compliment the Hawaiian setting, for example.
Lore and Legend
The lore, however, does not have to match up with the region. Kalos’ legendary trio is based off of Nordic mythology, for example, despite Kalos being a reference to France. Sometimes, though they do match up. Most of Alola’s legends are based in real Hawaiian myth. Whatever allusions you make should be vague, though. You don’t want to rob a culture of it’s mythology, just make allusions to it. It’s important to remember you are making your own mythology, in a way. Generally speaking, the main legendary pokémon in your game should represent more broad values like
life (Xerneas) & death (Yveltal)
light (Solgaleo) & dark (Lunala)
yin (Zekrom) & yang (Reshiram)
time (Dialga) & space (Palkia)
and your third should be some balance or between the option-
order (Zygarde)
refraction (Necrozma)
wuji (Kyurem)
antimatter (Giratina)
however, the secondary set of legendary/mythical pokémon in the game should usually represent more specific values like
fertility (Landorus)
disasters (Tornadus & Thundurus)
music & dance (Meloetta)
willpower (Azelf)
knowledge (Uxie)
emotion (Mesprit)
dreams (Cresselia)
nightmares (Darkrai)
wishes (Jirachi)
victory (Victini)
There’re always exceptions too- Mewtwo is a clone, Deoxys is an Alien, Genesect is a weapon, all of the ultra beasts are invasive species, Mew is the ancestor. All of this is made abundantly clear in each game, so you’ll want to make sure your pokémon are ascribed to an idea. Even Regigigas towed the continents. So the lore is directly connected to the legendary pokémon you choose and how the characters operate in the games.
Rival
You have to pick a rival, however, this is one criteria where you can use plenty of creativity. Sometimes the rival is a butthole and sometimes they’re more of an ally they are either always behind or in front of you in your journey. Sometimes you choose their name, sometimes they’re independent NPCs. Regardless, this is a facet that the game always has.
Challenges
Despite the fact that Alola has no gyms, there’re still waypoint trials to ensure you don’t use stronger pokémon earlier than you should and this is an important facet. There’s also always an elite four of some kind, so you’ll need to come up with a good roster for that. Nothing too wild. Sometimes town names are connected somehow, though not always (mostly an early game thing).
Callbacks
One thing that rings throughout every pokémon game are references to other games passed. Whether this is in characters that show up along the journey, or in names of places, it has to be there; it makes the games more of a cohesive whole. It’s also nice, but entirely optional to add new formes to old pokémon, or regional variants, mega evolutions, etc. This just adds to the cohesiveness as a whole. I’m personally against adding new types in fan-made games, because it gets confusing and slightly unrealistic. Nintendo doesn’t add types frequently. (Add an eeveelution or two!)
Title
Lastly, you’ll need a title for your game, and, again, it should generally be a marketable, likable thing that easy to say or abbreviate. There’s not really a rule to the naming other than it’s usually got a counterpart game that mirrors it in some fashion to promote sales and the lore. There was a good streak of precious metals/gems for a bit, but after Generation V they dropped that, so it can really be anything that has an easily identifiable counterpart.

Rachael’s favorite Pokemon + Pokemon related things!
In preparation for Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, I figured I’d post a list of my favorite Pokemon, games & characters!
Blue or Red versions: Blue, Silver, Sapphire, Leaf Green, Diamond, Soul Silver, Black, Black 2, X, Alpha Sapphire, and Moon. I didn’t realize how consistent I was until just a couple or years ago lol
Favorite Main Game: Part of me is tempted to say Silver or Soul Silver, since it was not just my first Pokemon game, but my first game period (Mom bought me Silver & a GBA for Christmas and took me out to eat at Wendys. I can still pick out the booth we were sitting in. I got stuck in the bedroom bc we both thought the stairs were a bookshelf lol). It still holds a very special place in my heart but Black is the BEST. Pokemon has yet to outdo itself.
Favorite Side Game: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon- Explorers of Sky! (SERIOUSLY GUYS THIS IS MY FAVORITE POKEMON GAME OUT OF ALL OF THEM EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY IT AAAAAAAAAA)
Favorite Generation: GEN 5 GUYS. GEN 5. Sinnoh is another one that means a lot to me bc Diamond was the first Pokemon game I ever beat (Way back in 2007!) but I LOVE GEN 5 SO MUCH.
Favorite song: Temporal Tower, Temporal Spire & the final boss theme for PMD:EoS! Though if I had to pick a top 5 from the main series, I guess;
1- Red/Lance
2- Zinnia
3- N’s Castle
4- Ghetsis (Black/White version)
5- Team Galactic Grunt (The Smash version especially)
Favorite Villainous Team: PLAZMAAAAAA!!!!! (tho. Galactic has a way better battle theme. The Brawl remix is still my jam all these years later- and part of the reason I love Lucario so much! Oh man, that intro in Subspace Emissary!)
Favorite Character: I bow before my Lord and Savior, N. I mean there’s a BUNCH I like (Silver, Green/Blue/Gary, Steven, Looker, Cheren, Guzma, Lillie, Gladion, AND ZINNIA, ESPECIALLY ZINNIA, are all great too! I love them all!) But N is like, an all-time fave for me outside of the Pokemon series too.
Favorite Anime-Only Character: Sir Aaron form Lucario & the Mystery of Mew! (I love Lucario. I love the Lucario man.)
Favorite Player Character: Hilda from Black/White! Out of all the main series games, it feels like she has the most personality, and I like her design the best. Though if we’re including side games, the avatar from any of the PMD games is a better character... by virtue of having any character at all. (I like the female avatar in Conquest a lot as well! Not a lot of personality, but she’s really cute!)
Favorite Gen 1 Pokemon: Lapras
Favorite Gen 2 Pokemon: Lugia
Favorite Gen  3 Pokemon: Absol
Favorite Gen 4 Pokemon: Lucario
Favorite Gen 5 Pokemon: Zoroark (tho Hydreigon is such a close second.)
Favorite Gen 6 Pokemon : Xerneas
Favorite Gen 7 Pokemon: Silvally
Favorite Starter: Typhlosion (I didn't really love them until I played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, but now they’re my go-to starter! Fun fact: I much prefer Quilava to either of it’s other evolutions. By like, a lot.)
And my favorite water & grass starters are Samurott and Decidueye~
Favorite Eeveelution: Umbreon! It’s a real shame it’s stats are so mediocre bc I love it lots
Favorite Legend: Lugia! (Tho Lunala and Dialga are really close. Dialga due to Diamond the Dialga being the first mascot legend I ever caught back in 2007 and Lunala bc Nebby is amazing and I love them.)
Favorite Mythical Pokemon: Jirachi (I remember watching Wish Maker back when it first came out and loving it except that Absol needed way more screen time. I never got quite as attached to Jirachi as I did Lugia from 2000 but they’re still my favorite mythical Pokemon by quite a bit)
Favorite Ultra Beast: Pheromosa (Why can’t I get one at a low enough level to use on my team during a playthrough rip)
Favorite Mega: MEGA ABSOL YO. (It made one of my old favorites actually viable to play AND IT’S SO GORGEOUS OH MY ARCEUS)
Favorite form variation: Alolan Ninetails/Vulpix!!! (I’ve loved Ninetails since Gen 1 but it just isn’t that useful of a Pokemon in game play normally. It’s still not the best BUT IT HAS THE BEST DESIGN SO I BRED ONE AND USED IT ON MY TEAM IN MOON FIGHT ME AND MY PRETTY FOX)
Favorite Pokemon Overall: Lucario!!!!! Ok, story time:
(under a cut bc it got a bit long)
It was 2010. I was a lonely, home schooled 13 year old, an only child with only one parent, and said parent owned and was the head chef in a struggling restaurant. I had exactly one friend- my best friend had moved away a short while ago and my home school group, including the teacher, absolutely hated me because I didn’t go to their church. Said singular friend is special needs and hadn’t been allowed to spend the day at a friend’s house without her parents ever.
Oh, and we had dial-up internet. The restaurant’s back room was close enough to someone with wifi down the block that I could watch Youtube during business hours, but none of my game systems could pick it up.
Life kinda sucked hard. But that’s not my point. BUT IT DID IT SUCKED SO BAD
Mom had helped me dig out my old Nintendo 64, so I had that, my Gamecube, Youtube, and my DS to entertain me for about 5 years. One day I’d decided to look up Smash videos- and there was a sequel! It had Princess Zelda from my favorite game, Ocarina of Time in it! So I bought Melee, and then I bought Twilight Princess when I found out that was a thing, and then my mom’s childhood friend took pity on me & bought me a Wii (I’m p sure I cried trying to thank him) and then I got Brawl!
So it’s 2010, and I go into brawl completely blind- the only characters I know are the Zelda ones, Pokemon Trainer/Pikachu, & the Mario characters from Mario 64. I start playing Subspace Emissary and even though I don’t know most of the characters it is awesome. So I get to the Ice type level- I know the Ice Climbers from Melee & Meta Knight from the old Kirby anime, and this awesome jackal ninja character shows up and oh my god it’s so cool!!!
And then the Pokemon music starts playing.
I think I screamed. I hadn’t evolved my Riolu that Riley gave me in Diamond, and it had been long enough since I’d beaten Cynthia that I’d forgotten Lucario existed. There has never been another Pokemon that I’ve seen in my entire life that made me go “WOW!!!” half as much as Lucario.
And that’s how Lucario got to be my favorite Pokemon~

I was watching various Zelda and Pokémon theory videos, and I... have a little bit of a thing. A theory, I mean.
The general gist of it is that Arceus is an Ultra Beast, came from Ultra Space, and created Solgaleo and Lunala. (And by extension Cosmog and Cosmoem.) This also has relations to Type: Null and Silvally, as well as the Aether Foundation and Necrozma.
PART ONE: Ultra Space
Arceus is the creator of the Pokémon universe, for the uninitiated. The following are all of its Pokédex entries from Generation IV to Generation VI:
Diamond: It is described in mythology as the Pokémon that shaped the universe with its 1,000 arms.
Pearl, Y, and Alpha Sapphire: It is told in mythology that this Pokémon was born before the universe even existed.
Platinum, Black and White, and Black 2 and White 2: It is said to have emerged from an egg in a place where there was nothing, then shaped the world.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver, X, and Omega Ruby: According to the legends of Sinnoh, this Pokémon emerged from an egg and shaped all there is in this world.
Three (3) out of four (4) of these entries describe how it existed in a space of nothing before creating this world, some even going so far as to state that it came from an egg of sorts.
However, it might be apparent to everyone that eggs in the Pokémon universe don’t just pop out of nowhere. (Not that the Daycare/Nursery hands will tell you otherwise, but I don’t think they’d want the responsibility of explaining reproduction to some random tween/teen they just met.) It requires at least two Pokémon in the same egg group, or a Ditto and another Pokémon. Where am I going with this, you’re probably asking?
My conclusion: there are more of Arceus’ species in Ultra Space, and they are in their own egg group. The only reason Arceus is put in the Undiscovered Egg Group is because there is only one in this world and thus it cannot breed to create more. Ditto cannot replicate the biology of Arceus because of its origin in Ultra Space, and Ultra Space genetics being even more complicated than that of the Pokémon universe or even the one we reside it, which also explains why Ditto cannot breed with other Ultra Beasts.
A point you may be eager to dispute is that, in its Pokédex entries, Arceus’ egg is stated to have been born in “emptiness.” Ultra Space, of what little we see of it in Sun and Moon, is shown to be pretty empty, with the only other thing there being the Ultra Beasts. Another point to be made is that it’s described as Ultra Space, with “space” being the word that we humans use to describe both the void in between planets as well as the universe beyond Earth’s atmosphere. So, “emptiness” would be a fitting descriptor of Ultra Space.
PART TWO: Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, and Lunala (And Necrozma’s Here, Too)
Arceus has been shown to create beings that rule over and regulate the things it creates, like Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, as well as Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie. Dialga rules and regulates time, Palkia rules and regulates space, and Giratina rules and regulates matter and antimatter. Azelf embodies willpower, Mesprit embodies emotions, and Uxie embodies knowledge. Arceus created these things to give order to the other Pokémon it created, including humans. So, what’s to say Solgaleo, the embodiment of the sun, and Lunala, the embodiment of the moon, weren’t created by Arceus as well? (And maybe even Necrozma, who seems to embody light, despite its black coloring.)
Well, let’s look at all their designs.
Solgaleo is quadrupedal and white, with golden accents, just like Arceus. It also has a white underbelly, again like Arceus, and a golden crown-like structure around its face and protruding from its main. The golden crown is similar to the structure around Arceus’ midsection.
Lunala is winged and actually has no legs, and is primarily indigo in color, but does still resemble Arceus. However, it does have bony white accents making up its main body and golden structures on the edges of its winds and tail. These golden structures also resemble Arceus’ hoop... thing.
With these similarities, and the fact that Arceus is more dissimilar to Lunala, it can be assumed that Arceus did, in fact, create them, but at least not at the same time. Arceus must have created Solgaleo first, making a commanding son who was the spitting image of itself. Then, Arceus created Lunala, an equally as commanding daughter who looked like itself, but not so much like itself. This order of creation mirrors how the Sun and the Moon in our world came into being: the Sun is simply a star, and formed like one. Then, the Earth and the Moon came. Nobody is exactly sure how the Moon got there, but it definitely was created after the Sun.
However, these Pokémon both started out as mere Cosmog, little embodiments of stardust and nebulae. After all, its entry in Sun states, “its body is gaseous and frail. It slowly grows as it collects dust from the atmosphere.”
Then, they evolved into Cosmoem, which represents the process of all the starstuff coming together, and this is evident in Cosmoem’s weight, which is 2204.4 lbs./999.9 kg. Its Sun entry also supports this, stating, “motionless as if dead, its body is faintly warm to the touch. In the distant past, it was called the cocoon of the stars.”
Then, it all expands into the Sun or the Moon, being Solgaleo or Lunala. This process is a mirror of how celestial bodies are actually created.
Another connection the Cosmog line has to Arceus and Ultra Space is their Pokédex entries making multiple references to other worlds:
Cosmog, in Moon: In ages past, it was called the child of the stars. It's said to be a Pokémon from another world, but no specific details are known.
Cosmoem, also in Moon: There's something accumulating around the black core within its hard shell. People think this Pokémon may come from another world.
Solgaleo:
Sun: It is said to live in another world. The intense light it radiates from the surface of its body can make the darkest of nights light up like midday.
Moon: This Pokémon is said to be a male evolution of Cosmog. At the activation of its third eye, it departs for another world.
Lunala:
Sun: It is said to be a female evolution of Cosmog. When its third eye activates, away it flies to another world.
Moon: Said to live in another world, this Pokémon devours light, drawing the moonless dark veil of night over the brightness of day.
The only alternate worlds we know of in Pokémon, besides the one that the Mystery Dungeon games take place in, is Ultra Space. (And the Distortion World, but the Distortion World most likely resides in or is a part of Ultra Space. It’s a place beyond our dimension where the rules of our world don’t apply, after all.) So, using the powers of extrapolation, we can infer that the Cosmog line is from Ultra Space. Since Arceus is from Ultra Space, as stated earlier, and Arceus is know to create beings in that space to accommodate the Pokémon world, this makes sense.
Now, let’s take another thing I said and prove it: that Necrozma is the embodiment of light, and was also created by Arceus.
Actaully, it being the embodiment of light is pretty much canon. How? Well, it’s the Prism Pokémon with ability Prism Armor and the Move Prismatic Laser. Prisms are associated with light and their ability to split it into many colors. As well, its Moon entry says, “light is apparently the source of its energy. It has an extraordinarily vicious disposition and is constantly firing off laser beams.” It’s safe to say that Necrozma rules over light.
As for its connection to Arceus, Ultra Space, and the Cosmog line, its Sun entry says, “reminiscent of the Ultra Beasts, this life-form, apparently asleep underground, is thought to have come from another world in ancient times.” So, Necrozma isn’t dissimilar to the other Ultra Beasts (and is even encountered during the Ultra Beast post-game sidequest!), and is said to come from another world. This pretty much confirms that it comes from Ultra Space.
Another thing: Arceus most likely created it before Solgaleo and Lunala. Why? Because you can’t have a shining sun and radiant moon without light being there in the first place. Necrozma is like their big nonbinary sibling, basically. The reason it doesn’t look similar to Arceus is because Arceus is god and it can do whatever it wants.
In short: Arceus created the Cosmog line and Necrozma, and they’re ALSO from Ultra Space.
PART THREE: Type: Null, Silvally, the Aether Foundation, and... the Beast Balls?
Type: Null and Silvally are made to replicate Arceus. I know that, you know that, it’s basically canon. Silvally’s ability is called RKS System and is near identical to Multitype, and its shiny turns it yellow just like Arceus’ does, for Mew’s sake!
But... why?
It’s possible that the Aether Foundation knew of Solgaleo and Lunala’s status as Ultra Beasts and as being created by Arceus. Thus, they created it in order to contain them (Solgaleo and Lunala) and other Ultra Beasts. They might’ve hoped that its Arceus-like appearance, moves, and ability would remind all the Ultra Beasts of Arceus, thus making it easier to capture them. Type: Null and Silvally are also very powerful, the latter’s stats comparable to a Pseudo-Legendary’s.
And now for the Beast Balls, because I’m getting tired and this section is the shortest on its own:
The Beast Balls share similar design elements to the Cosmog Line, being blue with golden claw-like accents, and with Arceus, again with the accents. This would make sense, since they’re all Ultra Beasts.
Aaaaaand since I feel as though I’ve covered everything I wanted to, and that I’m tired, that will be all.
