1. She had no way of knowing those babies wouldn't pop out looking exactly like her, beforehand. And unfortunately she couldn't stop at Jace. The throne needed an heir. Driftmark needed an heir. And a spare was needed as well, given the sheer rate of Targaryen children dying untimely deaths.

2. She had to provide heirs to the throne, and to Driftmark. If she hadn't, society wouldn't have blamed Laenor, they would have blamed her- which makes her position even more unstable, bc then she 'can't fulfill a woman's duty' so why would men think her 'able' to fill a 'man's role' by ruling the kingdom? And she and Laenor tried. He was either unable (meaning infertile or impotent, or unable to get it up), or unwilling. (And they did try. We dont know what they tried but Rhaenyra is shown to be clever in the show so honestly i have no doubt she attempted what Margaery suggested with Renly.) Laenor was in on the entire thing. He was aware of every part of this. He wasn't duped, he wasn't cuckholded- it was a plan greenlit by him, bc this way he and Rhaenyra would both have their heirs and a family. This cannot in any way shape or form be compared to Cersei cuckholding Robert (fuck Robert Baratheon tho), seeing as Robert was **not** at all aware that his children weren't his, and wouldn't have been OK with that.

Either way- she chose not to maritally r*pe her husband and put him through more trauma after it was clear their attempts weren't working. Yall are always so upset for Alicent (rightfully so, bc show!alicent was maritally raped, even if it wasn't considered as such in that time), but you... WANT Rhaenyra to do that to Laenor? Hello???

[And no. Rhaenyra did NOT rape or coerce Criston Cole. The actors, writers, and directors have all stated their sex was consensual and 'an act of love.' It was Rhaenyra going to someone she felt close to and trusted after feeling abandoned and unwanted and betrayed. In that scene you literally watch, as after Cole tells Rhaenyra to stop undressing herself, she moves aside so she isn't blocking his way to the door. The director states that the moment they show Cole folding and setting down his cloak was him choosing his desire over his oaths. And Criston Cole has known Rhaenyra since she was 14. He knew damn well the sort of person she was- and she was not the person who would have harmed him for saying no. She was an intoxicated and emotionally vulnerable 19 year old- Criston was in his late 20s to early 30s. And it's explicitly stated in ep.9 that the ONLY person a Kingsguard cannot refuse is the king. In ep.7 Criston disobeys a direct order from Alicent when she wants him to mutilate Lucerys. Criston Cole was not assaulted. Stop trying to assign Aegon's sins to Rhaenyra so that you can feel better for supporting him.]

3. In the books, the rumors of their bastardry at large halted when all of Rhaenyra's boys' cradle eggs hatched. The ONLY people who continued to try and raise issue were the core green faction. But the realm at large *did not give a fuck* why? Because every actually relevant party claimed those boys. Repeatedly and without flinching. Laenor claimed and loved those boys even face to face with Alicent's bullshit. Corlys claimed and love those boys- he was proud of them, and it's been stated by the actor in the show that Luke was his favorite- that given the... events of ep.10, Corlys will be out for blood. And Viserys repeatedly insisted upon their legitimacy- because Laenor and Corlys claimed them, because he knew that by forcing Rhaenyra to marry Laenor in order to repair the damage his insults caused House Velaryon, that he had backed her into a corner.

Rhaenyras boys are remembered to history as Velaryon. Even **Green supporters** noted that they were good, capable, intelligent, and **worthy** princes. That their deaths were unfortunate *for the realm.*

Legally, those boys are legitimate. They cannot be proven illegitimate without Laenor renouncing them, and he never did. Furthermore, trying to declare children illegitimate due to their appearance is a stupid, dangerous precedent. The fact that it's people who have no ties to House Velaryon pushing these rumors and pushing for disinheritance makes it even worse, because they're meddling in the succession of a House that *is not theirs.* if that became a standard, imagine the feuds and conflicts that would erupt- lords pushing for the children of rivals to be declared illegitimate all for the sake of trying to grasp and steal land, power, and influence as a norm? The realm would tear itself apart. Not to mention the sheer danger that would place women in, in Westeros.

Furthermore, even whilst usurping her, even while calling her children bastards, the Greens also imply Laenor's homosexuality was inherited by the Velaryon princes- that they would use Rhaenyra's 'promiscuity' and Laenor's 'predilections' to turn the Red Keep into a brothel- ironic, considering that's more what Aegon would've done. So even while claiming that Rhaenyras children are bastards that shouldn't inherit, they try to state that what the boys inherit or learn from Laenor makes them unfit for the throne. They can't keep their own damn story straight- because their usurpation was never about what is moral, what is right, or the greater good. It was about greed. Power. Sexism.

It doesn't matter what those boys looked like, especially seeing as Rhaenys had dark hair in the books. What matters is that Corlys and Laenor and Viserys claimed them and declared them legitimate, and that they **never** deviated from that.

As for Vaemond, he was a second son. And he waited until Corlys and Viserys were dying and too ill to stop him to make a grasp for power. Youre not supposed to look at that and feel hes in the right. Youre supposed to look at that and see a man consumed by greed, and literally trying to bury Corlys' will and intentions before the man is even in a grave. He was NEVER Corlys' heir- he just wanted power. It wasn't about his House, or their legacy, it was about him.

(And before yall start shit about Rhaenyras boys stealing Laena's girls' inheritance... Rhaena and Baela are *TARGARYEN*. Not Velaryon. Their claim was to the throne or to any holdings in Daemon's name. NOT to Driftmark.)

Rhaenyras boys being betrothed to Rhaena and Baela tied up any issue of 'Velaryon blood.' Baela would have been queen consort of the seven kingdoms at Jace's side, and they very clearly adored one another in book and show. Rhaena would have been Lady of the Tides- which she never would have had a chance for, without Rhaenyra (and Laena) making those betrothals. She and Luke were also canonically very close- and in show she's very encouraging of him whenever he looks nervous or uncertain. They had a bond.

Rhaenyra stole nothing. She gave those girls more. And she loved them- they were the only daughters she got to have, seeing as the Greens treachery caused the early death of baby Visenya. If she hadn't loved them, she wouldn't have trusted Rhaena to look after Joffrey or give her Morning's egg from Syrax. She wouldn't have immediately invited both girls to the table when she was queen, which is something her father did not do for her until much, much later. He allowed Rhaenyra's voice to be silenced too often when she was first made heir. Rhaenyra did not repeat that hurt to her girls or her boys.

Anyways, moving on.

You lot do also remember that Rhaenyra herself has Velaryon blood, right? Jaehaerys I's mother was Alyssa Velaryon. Aegon, Rhaenys, and Visenya the Conquerors' mother was Valaena Velaryon. It's not immediate, but there *is* Velaryon blood through *all* of Rhaenyras boys.

Ultimately, Rhaenyras boys were only in danger because of the core Green faction usurping the throne. If they hadnt- no succession crisis or rebellion could have truly threatened Rhaenyras boys- because none of them would have had dragons. All of Rhaenyras children loved one another- her sons by Daemon would not have turned on her sons with Laenor (and Harwin). They were a true, loving family- possibly one of the healthiest and most close knit one House Targaryen ever boasted.

And another thing... 'her having babies with Harwin was stupid, she should have picked someone Valyrian!'

Here's the thing. Rhaenyra had to be careful as hell choosing who would father her and Laenor's heirs. She had to choose someone who was physically close, and who could be trusted. Someone who wouldn't try to publicly claim those boys in boast or jealousy. Someone who would keep their mouth shut and had no ambition of their own in regards to the throne. Do you really think Vaemond Velaryon (as I see him suggested a lot) would've kept his mouth shut? That he wouldn't have tried to use this to blackmail Rhaenyra and Laenor for more power and status? Do you think Rhaenys would have ever fought for or supported Rhaenyra if Rhaenyra had tried to have Corlys sire her children? And flying to see Daemon in Pentos and having a purely Valyrian child 9 months later would have made things look even more suspect.

Furthermore... she chose someone who cared for her deeply. Who clearly had a positive relationship with Laenor. She chose someone so she wouldn't have to traumatize herself- she took power over her body in a way almost no Westerosi woman has ever been able to. They were a family unit- Rhaenyra, Laenor, and Harwin. Those children were loved and cherished by two fathers and their mother. They were raised never doubting their mothers love, nor their father's- either father. They were raised and educated to be true, good princes of the realm.

Rhaenyra fought like hell for her children. She was an incredible mother. Yall just believe everything the Green faction says without looking at it critically, and that's unfortunate as hell.

I’m going to preface this post by saying I don’t give a flying fuck about the hate I’m going to receive for the opinion I will be sharing and I won’t bother replying to any comments attacking me for it.

I fucking LOVE that Aemond killed Luke and I wish it wasn’t accidental. I wish Luke’s death was full on intentional, lol.

As a victim of bullying, I’ve been in situations where I have had to fend off 20+ kids as a kid myself. I’ve been verbally, physically, emotionally and psychologically assaulted as a child by other children, simply because I wanted, strived for and had good grades in school, actions that did not affect any of my classmates in the slightest. Therefore, I absolutely sympathise with Aemond, whose lack of dragon and later on his acquisition of one hurt no one (dragons belong to no one, you snooze you lose), yet he still got ridiculed and attacked for it. Yes, Aegon was also a bully and I hate him for it, but ultimately he grows out of it and supports his family, unlike the Strong bastards who remain bullies and assaulters. Oh, and Aemond tried to hit Jace with a rock because he attacked him first. Accusing him for standing up for himself is victim blaming. People who defend the Strong boys are bullies and that’s final.

No, I don’t give a rat’s ass that his attackers were children. Aemond was a child, too, and they ganked him 4v1. It’s crazy how some of y’all support physically attacking someone because you don’t agree with them. It was satisfying to see him kick their teeth in. Aemond and Luke are only 2 years apart, even if the actors’ appearances suggest otherwise. Your age does not excuse you being a fucking piece of shit. Children and teenagers appear on the news daily as rapists, killers, assaulters and all kind of criminals. That’s the reason juvie exists. Children should face the consequences of their actions.

“Are you excusing child murder?” if it is by the hand of the child they unapologetically disabled, fuck yeah. Besides, at the end of the day, Aemond dies, too, so you could say justice is served.

Still, I would have given the Strong boy the benefit of the doubt if it weren’t for this scene:

Lucerys is laughing at Aemond.

He is looking him in the eye and he is laughing at him. It’s been 6 fucking years. Lucerys is 17 (confirmed by the writers) and he feels no remorse for what he did. He was not punished for his action, so he has learned nothing.

He feels safe to mock Aemond, in the comfort and safety of his grandfather’s house, where his guard and stepdad can stop Aemond, whom he cannot beat on his own, from bashing his head against the wall. He feels safe to attack Aemond when he calls him Strong, knowing that other people will finish the fight he started but can’t win.

But what happens when no one is around to protect him from the consequences of his own actions? He shits himself. His face falls, he stumbles backwards and does not object to Aemond calling him Strong.

Are people mad that Luke Newton has a girlfriend? Or is it something more? A deep dive. Part 1 of 3.

I want to start out by saying, I have been following the Bridgerton train since the season one release on Christmas day. It was a show that I knew nothing about and I became enamoured.

I have followed along with the show and the actors since the release. I find looking at human behaviour fascinating, as I work in a very customer service based industry. It is so interesting to me to see how the actors have conducted themselves, especially Luke Newton.

This post will be about why I think people are truly upset by his behaviour.

(some of which I agree with and some I don't)

Luke Newton has been quite the monogamous dater. He dated his fellow co-star from The Lodge, Sophie Simnett. They were both very young at the time, it seemed like a sweet relationship, but young love normally never lasts.

Then he got into a relationship with Jade Davies. She is very active in the Theatre world and it seemed like this was a very good pairing. I think they complimented each other well. You could tell they loved each other. Ultimately they broke up at the beginning of 2023, because they 'grew apart', or so the tabloids have stated.

I do know that Jade did receive some hate (which is fairly common in the industry that Luke is in). I personally don't think that it was as bad as people made it out to be. A lot of people loved seeing Luke in love and proud of his girlfriend. They supported them as a couple. They supported it because there really wasn't anything to not support.

After the breakup is where Luke Newton went off the rails (in my opinion). He decided to become the typical fuck boy and didn't keep it secret. But he was just getting out of a long term relationship, it's not an abnormal things to do.

This is where he made his first mistake - he made his dating life public and it definitely looked questionable. (and yes he made it public by following certain people and posting about all of his vacations). He had a 'type' going into this time in his life (young dancers). But ultimately fans were forgiving because he just got out of a long term relationship. He was hurting and it's okay to spiral a little at a time like that. Fans supported him because they wanted him to have a 'hot boy summer'.

At some point he meets his confirmed/unconfirmed girlfriend Antonia. She seems to get a long with his close friends and people took notice of them spending time together. But I think fans thought he was still spiralling, so he wouldn't actually get into a relationship, he was only having fun.

Then the New Years kiss video was released. Fans did not like this. But ultimately I don't think that was what caused the biggest issue, I think his second mistake was befriending her on Instagram. This is what sealed them as an unconfirmed relationship. Had they decided to not make this decision, I think people could/would have left them/her be. It could have been summed up with 'it was just a New Years' kiss.

I think it's possible that Luke had the intention to make this relationship public. I think that could have been his goal that day. But because of the press tour coming up, he was told not to (maybe). I also think that made Luke spiral even more, he was upset that he couldn't show off his girlfriend (and when you like or love someone you do want to do that) and decided to take some of his issues out on his career and fans (by liking everyone of her photos, letting her post photos with his clothing, letting her post photos with his arms and legs). (I want to add that he should have the right to do that, but in the world of celebrities, they have to do things like this with care or it will backfire).

His third mistake was mentioning that he was the most like his character on Bridgerton (he has said this multiple times) and his cast-mates also say the same thing. Hear me out on this one -

It can be easy to separate the art from the artist. That is simple enough for people to do (I have seen it happen on many occasions). But there were multiple times that he would say he is the most like his character (saying this made the task of separating difficult) - and lets be real Colin was made for the female gaze. He is charming, attractive, loving and isn't superficial. He fell in love with the 'outcast', the one that isn't the 'typical' beauty. Fans held onto this, because Colin as a character made them feel seen. They couldn't separate Luke from Colin because he kept saying he was like Colin.

When they look at Antonia they don't see the outcast, they don't see the girl that looks like them, they don't see a 'regular' woman. She is the opposite of who Colin would end up with, so that would mean that Luke wouldn't go for her. Antonia looks like the girl who made fun of you in high school, the girl who on the outside looks like she hasn't had a trouble in her life, a girl who's social media is all about vacationing and looks staged, she doesn't seem real.

(I want to note that I have no idea who she is as a person, she could be the nicest person).

So now that Luke has made a bunch of people mad they will go on a deep dive. The first thing that people will look into is the age. And she is quite young. Too young in fact. I am on the side that someone his age shouldn't be dating someone who's brain isn't fully developed (this is a scientific fact), ESPECIALLY since there is also a power dynamic. (It's okay if you do not feel the same way).

Luke's fourth mistake was letting his friends post things about himself on social media. Yes, I know that you can't control everybody in your life. But they are his BEST FRIENDS, Luke could have asked them to not post anything about himself. That would have been the smart more.

Luke's fifth mistake was not having Nicola and the Bridgerton Instagram posts with notifications on. He should have liked every single god damn post that they posted. This would have appeased the fans, the fans love that shit. But instead he would like every single one of Antonia's photos and forget about his job. This decision further bothered fans because he stated that he was moving his social media to be work related. I will be honest - his social media is kinda a mess. His social media presence is definitely a mistake he has made.

He goes on the Bridgerton press tour with Nicola (who is amazing at her job), and all of the imperfections of his life are even more exaggerated, because Nicola is fucking great. Even though Luke and Nicola are a pair when it comes to Bridgerton, people will still compare them.

When looking at this whole situation I think that Luke is continuing to spiral. I think that he can be a bit stubborn and he is doubling down. He has to know the mistakes he has made. He has to realize that he could have dated Antonia and not made it a whole situation/scene. If a celebrity doesn't want you to know something about their personal lives, you won't know.

Final thoughts - I think that Luke didn't think about how some of his actions would/could have been perceived, I think he was ill prepared in some of his actions, I think that he is still learning to be in the spotlight, I think he is somewhat immature, I think that he is being destructive to his career.

I'm convinced Luke wanted to come forward with his relationship months ago. I believe he was told not to and he didn't like that answer. He has shown some spite because of it. There are also other mistakes that I didn't get into, if you want a part 2 let me know? haha

Have I lost some respect for Luke during the past year? Yes.

Do I realize that it must be hard to be in the spotlight? Yes.

Do I think that if Luke continues on this destructive path he will regret it? Yes.

Should we also give him a bit of grace? Yes.

Do I think he is talented? Yes.

Do I think this will ultimately effect him? No.

“Slow down!” Jack calls, tugging your hand back so you stumble and fall back into him.

“I’m sorry,” you reply sheepishly, looking up at your boyfriend who shakes his head with a fond smile on his lips.

You, Jack, Luke, and Nico had decided to jet off for a quick Halloween vacation down to Florida. You had been begging them for weeks to go with you to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios and they finally caved in.

There you were, bounding towards the front gates of the theme park, dragging your boyfriend along behind you while your two best friends laugh lightly at your antics behind him.

The minute you step up to the gates the spooky music settles over you and your heartbeat picks up. As a kid you and your family always went to fright fest at six flags so this felt weirdly familiar and unfamiliar all at once.

Jack slips his hand into yours and squeezes as you enter into the park, your head whipping around to look at all the different scare actors and decorations.

Suddenly you hear a chainsaw revving and your eyes snap to a scare actor, blood splashed on the front of his shirt, pants tattered, and a dirty face glares around at other park goers. He lunges at a group of girls in front of you and you instinctively flinch, grabbing onto Jack's arm and pulling him closer.

“You okay?” Jack asks, looking down at you with a small smirk splayed on his lips.

“I’m good,” you reassure, straightening up and rolling your shoulders back trying to convince your boyfriend that you weren't scared.

“Oh fuck!” you hear Luke yell out from behind you and just as you turn, the taller boy is bumping straight into you.

You’re about to call after him, some sassy remark for him bumping you, but it dies on your lips when you’re faced with another scare actor. This one is much taller and even scarier than the first one and you can’t help the screech that leaves your lips before you’re running away.

You book it until you feel safe enough, Luke grabbing your arm before you can go further and you find yourself slamming into Nico’s chest. You hide your face there for a brief moment before you’re pulled into the arms of your boyfriend who you can tell is holding back laughter.

“Oh I see,” Jack starts and you look up at him. “Is someone a little scared?”

“Don’t be a dick,” you pout, pushing him away but he’s quick to grab your arms and pull you back into him.

“Don’t worry love, I’ll protect you.”

“And if he doesn't, we can run screaming together,” Luke chimes in and you giggle.

“Let’s go,” you tell the boys.

Your right hand slips into Jacks with your left hand curling around his bicep. He leans over and presses a kiss to the top of your head before you start down the street again, hiding behind Luke and Nico the whole way.

DIAVOLO

• Diavolo loves Halloween, and he takes celebrating it very seriously.

• Absolutely organises a costume party event to take place at the castle. There will be drinks, lots of fun activities for the guests, and bowls full of candy on all of the tables for the attendees to take from. The entire palace is decorated too, thanks to Barbatos. Nobody knows how he managed to hang decor from the ceiling.

• One might think it's inappropriate for the King of the Devildom to dress in a silly costume in front of his subjects while hosting a party. But it's Halloween. Of course he's going to dress up.

• If Lucifer can't manage to dissuade him in time, he will dress as that one Princess Diavolo sticker for fun. He honestly doesn't see the issue with it — plenty of people are dressed in silly, unserious costumes. Plus, the huge ballgown is actually very pretty. Lucifer seems to be the only brother who doesn't find it hilarious.

• Honestly isn't very good at most of the activities that were set up, but enjoys them anyway. He tends to get assistance from the other attendees, which he appreciates.

• Also, definitely wants a sleepover with you on Halloween night so you can binge-watch horror movies with him. Or, if you don't like horror, he'll just let you choose any film you'd like to show him at all. He really doesn't mind.

• He'd love to participate in horror attractions around the devildom! It's just that, well, he's a king, and the scare actors aren't particularly keen on jumping out and startling their literal ruler. He'll probably get a little pouty about this, but he'll cheer right up if you suggest he go trick-or-treating instead.

• Imagine someone rings the doorbell on Halloween, you answer and it's the fucking royal family and they want all your candy.

• He has multiple bags worth of sweets by the end of the night, and he's very happy with himself! Even though Barbatos warns him not to try and eat them all in one sitting, he still probably makes an attempt.

• Can't do work the next day because of a stomach-ache.

"Diav— oh wow," you stare and blink in shock at the sight before you. Lord Diavolo, dressed in a large and luxurious dress, looking at you with a smile. "Are you... dressed as that one sticker?" "Ah, I'm so glad you recognised!" Diavolo beamed. "Isn't it amazing?" "Uh— yeah," you nodded your head, then pulled out your D.D.D. "...Do you mind if I take a picture?" "Of course! Go right ahead." Oooh, Levi is so gonna wish he came along...

BARBATOS

• Indifferent to Halloween as a whole, but takes part due to Diavolo's love of it.

• Like I mentioned, he's mostly the one who decorated the palace. He couldn't help but be very tempted by the jumpscare props he'd come across while shopping, but decided against it for the sake of the people attending the party, keeping all of the decorations fairly simple and inoffensive. He also set up all of the activities for the guests to participate in.

• Also, pumpkin pie, anyone?

• As you can imagine, he does a lot for the event itself, but doesn't really participate. Diavolo drags him into a few things, but he won't dress up. He refuses to, saying his butler clothes are fine and allows the guests to recognise that he's still working. If you beg he might wear a Halloween-themed accessory or two.

• Anything he is dragged into doing, be it apple-bobbing, candy-making or pumpkin-carving, he immediately excels at. Insists he's never carved a pumpkin before while doing the most insane, elaborate design. You don't even think he's lying, he's just that guy.

• Again, he will not willingly go to a horror attraction on his own, but he can be convinced to go by either you or Diavolo. And when he's there, nothing affects him. Not even in the slightest. You're pretty sure his poker-faced smile is scarier than most of the actual jumpscares going on.

• He has the same reaction to horror films, too. He might gently tease you for being scared, but quickly drops it in favour of either turning it off, or letting you hold onto him for the duration of the movie.

• Doesn't mind handing out candy and some of his baked treats, but tries to mix in healthier food options too. He doesn't want the guests or the King to get a stomach-ache from eating too much sugar.

"...How did you do that?" You gazed in awe at the intricate design carved into Barbatos' pumpkin. It was a replica of what the palace looked like from the outside, and he'd somehow managed to add every fine little detail with his carving knife. He smiled. "I just trusted my hands would replicate the image in my head," he said simply, then looked at your pumpkin. "Yours looks nice as well." "...Thanks." You said. You were unconvinced he could have possibly meant that compliment for your carving that was, by now, simply an indiscernible blob, but you appreciated the thought.

SIMEON

• So. Halloween originated from the belief that, on that day, the line between the living and the dead was blurred. Traditions such as lighting bonfires spawned under the premise of warding off spirits. Simeon, as an angel, I feel would still have an attachment to that origin.

• He still participates in the fun events and games, but will also cast wards in order to prevent spirits from getting too close. He tries to be pretty secretive about it as well, since he's pretty sure most demons in the Devildom won't respond kindly to the sight of angelic sanctifying magic, even if it's to protect them.

• Very happy to dress up. He tries on a bunch of different costumes, but I love the idea of him going as a deer. The fake antlers are a little heavy on his head though, so he might take them off from time to time.

• He loves the cute little Halloween-themed objects. Like Halloween-themed cupcakes, Halloween-themed window stickers, and props such as pumpkins with faces on them or boo-ghosts. He's first to decorate Purgatory Hall specifically so he can beat Solomon to it, because he just knows that sorcerer would somehow traumatise Luke if he were in charge of the decor.

• Isn't much a fan of horror, but it doesn't particularly frighten him, either. He reacts to jumpscares, sure, but not much else. A pretty good option to choose to watch horror movies or go to haunted houses with though, because even though he isn't really a fan, he's steady enough to bring you comfort the whole time.

• Super sweet to any trick-or-treaters that come to the door. He always makes sure to buy the large chocolate bars to hand out, and he compliments the costume of every kid that comes by.

• Asks you to tag along with him and Luke to go trick-or-treating. They're both 100% respectful of "take one!" signs, every single time.

Luke gleefully skipped up to the nearest house, ringing the doorbell and gesturing for you two to "come here". You and Simeon hurried forward a little to catch up with him before an older lady opened the door, greeting the three of you with a friendly smile. "Trick or treat!" She leaned to the side, picking up a bucket full of candy and offering it to Luke. "Here, take whatever you like." "Not too much, Luke." You warned, and Simeon gave a nod and a smile. "Haha! Nonsense, your son can take as much as he likes." You felt Simeon freeze up at the same time you did. ... "Huh?! I'm not their son!"

SOLOMON

• Spooky season for this man is an excuse to be a menace.

• As if he needed one.

• A little bummed that Simeon got to decorating before he did, but still, he can work with it. He enchants some of the props to move and jerk violently whenever someone walks too close to it, giving both Simeon and Luke the fright of their lives when they get up for water in the middle of the night.

• His costume is a classic witch/wizard outfit. Everybody boo him for being boring and unoriginal. Boo!

• He carries around a wand just for authenticity, but will actually proceed to cast spells using it for the rest of the night. It's completely unnecessary and just requires extra effort, but he likes being able to threateningly point a wand at people.

• Really enjoys the activities and games. He actually won't try to use magic to win, he'll do it legitimately, but is so good at the apple-bobbing that everyone is pretty sure he enchanted the apples somehow and are refusing to touch them like they're contaminated.

• On that note, don't let him do the candy-making stuff. It doesn't matter how close an eye you keep on him, he will mess it up somehow. He made quite possibly the worst candy apple the three worlds have ever seen.

• Is perfectly okay with handing out candy to trick-or-treaters while Simeon and Luke are out. He does tend to scare the kids, though... He thought enchanting the garden props to dance would be a fun little surprise. He didn't mean to make that kid cry, honest!

"Solomon!" You stormed into the living room, where Solomon turned and meet you with a far-too-easy smile. "Why did some little boy's parents just show up at our door?!" "Hmmm... maybe he didn't like the candy options we gave out?" He lifted his hand to his chin, as if thinking hard. "They said you made him cry using some weird jumpscare prop in the garden!" "Oh, that?" He shook his head. "It wasn't a jumpscare prop, I just used a little magic to make one of the garden gnomes stand up and sing a little 'goodbye'." "What possessed you to think that would be anything but horrifying?!"

BONUS: LUKE

• Like Simeon, is moreso into the actual origins of Halloween than the holiday itself. Unlike Simeon, gets way too into it and takes it far too seriously.

• Everything scares this poor kid. He tried to exorcise a cardboard cutout that Solomon enchanted to move around, and later insisted it hadn't scared him that badly, he was just trying to protect the house!

• Everyone keeps harassing him to dress up as a dog and he does not find it funny.

"Luke?" You tilt your head as the young angel stormed into your room, shutting your door behind him with a huff and sitting cross-armed on the edge of your bed. "What's wrong?" "Solomon bought a dog costume for me!" He complained, turning to you. His jaw dropped when he saw the expression on your face. "It's not funny!" You slapped a hand over your mouth. "Right, right, no, of course not," you nodded, standing up and trying to hold in your laughter. "I'll go tell him to get a better costume for you."

The "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series at Disney+ has added an unexpected pick to its growing cast.

The new live-action series is based on the hugely successful novels from author Rick Riordan of the same title. We will be seeing YN LN join the series as Rina Velasco, one of the supporting characters of the show.

LN's Rina Velasco is referred to as "the offspring of The Muses, goddesses of the sciences and the arts." Unlike most other demigods, she is born out of the artistic and scientific output of the muses. When the moral ingenuity of humans meets the divine musings of The Muses. Her character is described as a unique allrounder who becomes a mentor figure to our main cast as they embark on their journey.

This will be LN's first on-screen role of her career. LN's experience mostly lies in Broadway, she is known for playing Kim in the Miss Saigon revival on Broadway. LN was nominated for a Tony in 2022 for the same role. She is repped by Salonga/Chien Entertainment and B817 Agency.

Riordan posted on the Meta app, Threads, about this update to the casting saying: "YN was one of the actors we didn't expect to see a tape of but when we saw it, we couldn't help but fall in love with her. She embodies the spirit of Rina so well and is such a kind spirit, we can't wait for you to fall in love with her too! Welcome to the cast, YN!"

The live-action show is based on Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson book series. It tells the fantastical tale of the titular 12-year-old modern demigod (Scobell), who's just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover (Simhadri) and Annabeth (Jeffries), Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

Production on the show is now underway in Vancouver. Riordan and Jon Steinberg are writing the pilot with James Bobin directing. A/N i truly hope you guys can forgive the horrible editing in the pictures. the article portion is based on (and has some parts that are directly pulled from) this article from variety ! here's some succint information about rina velasco, the PJO character YN LN plays (and is my childhood OC!) - rina velasco, filipino, 18 years old (year younger than luke) - she's an offspring of the muses, not directly a child or daughter, though she may be referred as such - by her being an offspring of the muses, i mean that she was born in the same way athena's children are born. - but in rina's case she's more like a weird conglomeration of each muse. her birth is a rare event, but her mothers are honored as minor goddesses so she stayed in the apollo cabin (connection to music) - rina operates as a guidance figure for the main trio, especially annabeth - she's also luke's love interest, there's a lot of tragicness and doomed romance stuff with those two - and for the sake of everyone, we pretend like the weird i love you from the books didn't happen !

Alrighty everyone...

Just wanted to make a post regarding the events of the day before I start diving into answering asks/DMs.

I have seen the pic and it is my belief that it is Luke. You can clearly tell that is his phone even though many are reporting it to be an Android. The phone case matches the one he had throughout many pics on the press tour.

Yes, his face looks puffier, the ear does seem off and his hair is does not look curly in the pic.

HOWEVER, it is very pixelated and grainy so things are bound to look a little distorted but I'm 99.9% sure that is him in the photo.

The girl next to L could be A and I'm inclined to believe that it is just from a rational standpoint.

From what you can see the body type and height is a close match to A. Although the hair is way too long and her forehead does not quite match up. Make of that what you will.

I will also note that although L looks like he is on the 3rd day of a seven day binge, he does look happy and I love that for him.

(Other than the really weird bit about "Male presenting Doctor") what were your thoughts about the specials?

pretty mixed bag, pretty messy, but good overall. i think they were very obviously a nostalgia trip for people around my age lol and it worked! i loved seeing tennant and tate back onscreen together, their chemistry hasn't aged a bit, and honestly just watching doctor who that wasn't written by chris chibnall was a breath of fresh air. they weren't boring, like seasons 11 and 12 were, and they didn't go too far off the other end into nonsense like flux did. characters want things again! the show can let itself just be silly! i was literally cheering out loud when donna and the doctor were just saying random scifi gobbledegook at each other for like a solid several minutes during the star beast.

the structure of the specials kind of baffles me. i love wild blue yonder--i think it's definitively the best of the specials as a standalone, it's absolutely fantastic, creepy and atmospheric and bringing things around to RTD's strength, which is well-written characters interacting with each other and letting good actors just act. but at the same time i dont understand why it exists? it feels like...idk. imagine if you watched the star wars original trilogy but instead of the empire strikes back the middle film was just a feature length film about luke and han surviving on an ice planet with no reference to anything that happens in the last film except the two characters' relationship. and then the next film was still return of the jedi, unchanged. it felt like that

i liked all the weird campy silliness of the star beast and the giggle, and they were both very fun! neil patrick harris gave a fantastic performance, there are a lot of very memorable sequences from the giggle, but it's very very all over the place. so many threads get kind of picked up and go nowhere. the toymaker's haunted house dimension goes nowhere. RTD's eyerolling social media commetnary goes nowhere (thank god tbh but yknow im illustrating something here). even the toymaker kind of goes nowhere, after ncuti gatwa shows up he's bascially an afterthought who loses by dropping a ball. obvious parallels to david tennant's first episode with that ball scene could be made, but just... aren't. it feels like load-bearing sectikons of the plot and themes were cut out to make room for a backdoor pilot for the stupid fucking UNIT spinoff

oh and it goes without saying i fucking hate all the UNIT wank in the star beast and the giggle. i hope space nine eleven 2 happens to their stupid fucking avengers tower i cannot stand kate stewart who is constantly a murderous bonehead (in the giggle alone she gets two pepole killed by not listening to the doctor and assuming that this teleporting godlike entity could be restrainted by Two Guys) who is both in and out of universe just a boring nepo baby with no merit of her own

um. i still dont know what happened with the regeneration. i think the implication is that when david tennant dies hell time travel back to become ncuti gatwa inside himself--at least the rehab dialogue seems to make that implication. but it's not really explained or explored? baffling. i do think that fourteen getting to settle down and live a peaceful life with his friends is cute.

oh yeah and the ask said other than that but goddd there was some good stuff in the star beast and honestly with the state of the UK media i will take any perspective on trans people that includes baseline human erespect but some of those lines made me cringe so bad. anyway overall i am cautiously optimistic for the future of the show--oh ncuti was fucking great did i mention that i instantly bnought him as the doctor he owned the scene, the moment he was there it was clear he was the protagonist, and i liked the church on ruby road well enough too--i am cautiously optimistic but i worry that a big UNIT-shaped tumor will devour huge chunks of it and it'll be annoying. also russel t davies is like 60 and i just dont want to hear what he has to say about twitter so im not looking forward to dot and bubble

The first two episodes were wonderful and I really enjoyed the imagery and cinematography along with how every actor embodied the character but here are things I will complain about because I can:

1. I don’t want to see R*ck in it, why did they have to show his face…

2. Sally Jackson still just seems like a Random White Woman™️ to me. The acting was good but something just isn’t clicking for me. Also…the way she was a hardass on grover…i did not like it.

3. WHY WAS THERE BARELY ANY ANNABETH?? my girl is the star of the show!!! she’s supposed to be the one to show percy around camp and have that funny banter where he asks her questions and she answers all of them without answering at all, leaving him more confused than he was before. that was the best part of the intro chapters imo. WHY DID CH*RON TAKE HER PLACE???

3a. the full shot of a little percy standing next to chiron’s absolute wagon while walking into the hermes cabin still absolutely sends me 😭😭. it ALMOST makes up for a lack of annabeth

4. why was annabeth just hovering there in the infirmary and not nursing him like she did in the book😭 they rly made her stalk him instead of just being the person who introduced him to everything. in the book, he was already taking mythology lessons with annabeth by the time the quest came around. she didn’t feel quite as integrated into the narrative as she should’ve been. i did love how blunt she was though. she’s many things, but apparently a liar isn’t one of them.

5. clarisse didn’t call him prissy

6. why was smelly gabe so…sanitized. he’s a loser who doesn’t treat them well but his depiction also doesn’t live up to the abusive pos he really is. the interactions with him didn’t have the same gravity as they did in the books, they just seemed too lighthearted…he also should’ve looked greasier. i know abuse comes in many forms and doesn’t always reveal itself right away but he was a lot more of a pushover than i would expect him to be if sally stood up for herself

7. the plot about the hellhound that sets up luke as the traitor…simply vanishing. annabeth shoving percy’s ass into the water to figure out he can heal was funny though. would’ve been cooler if it healed a giant hellhound claw mark rather than a nick

8. percy doing some half-assed flossing on a rock alone while waiting to be maimed during capture the flag, not knowing who his dad is or if he’ll ever get his mom back is so fucking funny in the most miserably way but also…why is he a fortnite kid, this is supposed to be 2006 😭. the implication that annabeth is standing there silently watching him almost makes up for it. i can’t imagine what was going through her mind…like girl that’s your future husband good luck

❝ CHAPTER ONE ❞

Threesomes are fun. Foursomes, however, are a blast. 

At least, JJ Maybank seems to think so. 

“You have three different women threatening to release your sex tape. It’s not a good look for you, JJ.”

Well, he does when they don’t include a secretly-filmed sex tape and three fame-thirsty girls trying to ruin his career for a quick cash grab. 

“It’s not like they’re three separate tapes. We were all together when it was made,” JJ smirks. 

Josh, his manager, lets out an exasperated sigh. “That doesn’t make things any better, and it does nothing to help our circumstances. You need to clean up your act and you need to start doing it now, Maybank, or you’re going to lose everything.”

JJ rolls his eyes for what feels like the millionth time in the fifteen minutes that this meeting has been going on. It’s bullshit, really. He’s one of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now. He’s youthful, dashingly handsome, and loaded. The world is his freakin’ oyster, and he deserves to have some fun.

“You’re supposed to keep up your whole approachable, goofy, boy-next-door image intact, and having a ménage à…quatre, is not the way to do it.” my publicist, Andrea, chimes in. “If you aren’t careful, you’re going to lose your entire fanbase. You’re one of the most universally-liked celebrities in the business, right now. If this gets out, you’re going to have to kiss your crystal clear reputation goodbye.”

“So, let’s just pay ‘em the hush money. What do I care?” JJ says, taking his cap off and running a hand through his unruly strands.

“And you’re fine with forking over ten million dollars? Just like that?” Andrea scowls. “What if they take the money and still decide to release the tape? Or demand more?”

“Then we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it, Andrea. Now, are we done here? I’m supposed to meet my co-star for my new movie in an hour and I’d really like to get in another — how did you put it? Ah, yes. Ménage á quatre — before I go.”

Josh runs a hand over his face, “Do you care about anything anymore?” 

JJ ignores his statement, putting his hat back on and sitting up in his chair. “Can I leave?”

He can tell that Josh wants to scold him or make some witty remark in return, but he bites his tongue. 

“Go. And, please, for the love of all things holy, do not screw this up.” 

If JJ had a penny for every time he’s heard that, he’d be richer than Jeff fucking Bezos.

“And last but not least, this is your dressing room. You’ll have your own trailer, but this is more for when we’re actually on set and in between takes.”

You grin as you look around the luxurious room. There’s a huge vanity in front of you, as well as some plush couches, and you don’t fail to notice the large mini-fridge in the corner of the room or the flat-screen TV plastered onto the wall. There’s a window as well, letting in the California sunshine you’ve come to love and appreciate beyond your beliefs.

“Wow, this is…amazing. I can’t thank you guys enough for this opportunity. I’m so grateful, I hope you know that.”

“Don’t be silly, Y/N. You’re the very reason we wanted to do this project in the first place. If anything, we’re the lucky ones,” Derek, the director states with a grin. “So, you ready to meet your co-star, or what?”

“Yeah! I mean, I’m nervous, but, beyond excited.”

Derek leads you back into the hallway, and you make your way to one of the offices. 

“I think you’ll love him. Word is, he comes from the Outer Banks just like you. Who knows, you’ve probably met him in passing.”

Wait…what? He’s from OBX? No. No way. He couldn’t possibly mean—

“Y/N Y/L/N, meet the esteemed JJ Maybank,” Derek states, his proud smile growing sizeably larger than you thought possible. 

It doesn’t matter how excited he is, though. All you can focus on is your heart beating out of your chest and the ringing in your ears. You see Derek’s lips moving but you can’t hear a thing. Your eyes are caught on the blonde in front of you, and all you can think about is how painful it is to look into those oceanic eyes after five years.

It’s equally as painful as it was the last time you saw him. If not, more.

“Uh— Y/N, I…it’s— it’s been a while,” JJ stutters out. 

It’s all too much. Seeing him here, in front of you. His eyes locked on yours, his hand reaching out to touch you but retracting once he notices the fear in your gaze. Your eyes flit over to Derek, whose face has a more than confused look painted over his features. 

“Excuse me, Derek, I— I need to get out of here.” 

You speed into the restroom, locking the door behind you and setting your hands on the counter. Your chest tightens, and your breathing speeds up. She shudders, trying to shake it out as the room starts to feel like it’s closing in on you.

“You’re okay. You’re okay. You can do this. Don’t let him get to you,” you say, staring at yourself in the mirror. “It’s just…it’s just JJ.”

You feel the tears start to well in your eyes and you watch as they overtake their boundaries and roll down your flushed cheeks. You’re quick to wipe them away, though, refusing to admit defeat. 

“Stop,” you tell yourself. “It’s been five years. You’re better than this.”

You aren’t sure if the words are true to your heart, because all you can think about is how the boy you loved from the ages seven to eighteen — the one who betrayed you and shattered you into a million pieces — is now your co-star for the romantic comedy you’ve just been cast in.

What could possibly go wrong?

A lot, you think. A lot could go wrong.

JJ watches as you make your way back into Derek’s office, shooting him a convincing smile.

“My apologies, Derek. Girl troubles,” you say. 

JJ still knows you well enough to see that you’re hoping Derek will believe your bullshit excuse. 

“Oh, uh, no worries at all, Y/N. I completely understand. I’ve got three daughters at home,” he speaks, trying to assure you that everything is fine. He places this hand on JJ’s shoulder, squeezing slightly. “JJ, here, was just telling me how the two of you have known each other since you were in elementary school. It must be quite the hell of a reunion, huh?”

You plaster a fake grin onto your lips, “One hell of a reunion, indeed.”

JJ refuses to look at you, his ex-best friend, and vice-versa. Truthfully, he’s terrified to catch your eye again. He’s not sure if he’ll be able to form a coherent sentence if he does. 

“Well, I’ve got some stuff to take care of, so I’ll leave you two to catch up.”

Derek exits his office, and you and JJ are left in complete and utter silence.

God, JJ missed you so much. He’d seen you making headlines just as you always said you would, but he was always quick to click away, deciding not to dwell on everything he’d lost. But this, now, seeing you right in front of him as gorgeous as ever…it made the walls he’d worked so hard to put up begin to crack. 

Then again, you’d always had that effect on him. 

Even after all these years, he was still a complete wreck over you. You held his heart in the palm of your hand and he wasn’t even sure if you knew it.

Your scent was still etched into his mind, still buzzing deep within his senses and his memory. You smelled of the saltwater beaches of the Outer Banks. The notes of coconut from the shampoo he’d recognized still lingering in the tresses of your hair. The sweet hints of vanilla that clutched to your skin are prominent as ever. The combination sounds like a lot, and it was, but not in the overpowering way one would assume. They blended into one heavenly and unique fragrance. 

She smelled like her, he thought. She smelled like home. 

To be honest, JJ wasn’t sure whether or not this was a reminder he wanted to welcome with open arms, but either way, here it was. Here you were. After the way he’d hurt you and destroyed your relationship forever. 

After he lost himself. 

Funnily enough, you’d always had a way of popping up whenever he needed and longed for you. He never even had to speak a single word. You just always knew. And you might not have guessed it now, but he needed you more than he ever had before.

JJ scratches his brow with his index finger. “So, um…how have you been?” 

“Don’t. Just…don’t.”

“Y/N, please,” he pleads. He almost wants to get down on his knees and beg. You can’t even look at him, and that hurts more than he could ever put into words.

“No. I don’t wanna hear it. I’m fine with being professional while we film this movie, but I’m not getting into this with you. I’m not getting into any of it.”

JJ remains silent, choosing to nod because he’s not totally sure he can find his voice. 

As much as he hated to let the thought in, you were a walking reminder of every bad decision he’d made since he left the island and never looked back. He looked at you, and he saw two things. The first being the crinkling of your bright eyes when you smiled. The melodic laugh he could pull from your lips at a moment’s notice. Your hair blowing in the wind as you stuck your head out the window of John B’s Twinkie. And the second being the look of despise and pain on your face as you confronted him. The mascara-stained tears flowing down your heated cheeks. The way you walked away from him and deliberately chose not to look back and steal a second glance at him. 

How was he expected to act all suave and cool when you were right there in front of him, actively choosing not to even look in his direction?

Truth is, he doesn’t think he can.

JJ glances at his phone once he leaves the production office still shaken by the day’s events. 

2 Missed FaceTime Calls from John B

JJ swipes to the right and watches as his phone rings, awaiting his best friend’s answer while he plops down on the steps in front of the building. The line rings for a few moments before he hears shuffling through the speaker, followed by John B’s face appearing on his screen.

“Hey, man. how was your meeting? Your new costar as hot as we imagined?”

JJ tears his eyes away from the camera, his lip sinking between his teeth. His complexion pales, and John B picks up on it. 

“Jeez. You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

“Because I have,” JJ deadpans. He’s still reeling from your presence, and it shows.

“Huh?”

“It’s Y/N…my costar is Y/N.”

“Ooh, yikes,” John B responds. “Did she nut-punch you?”

“It’s not funny.” 

JJ tugs his cap off as he always does when he’s stressed, and his fingers card through his hair. He tugs lightly at the strands as he tries to alleviate the tension building up in his head. 

“She couldn’t even look at me, John B. Her eyes were on me for all of five seconds before she made an excuse to go to the bathroom. Then, when she came back, she looked at everything but me. She barely even let me speak to her.”

“Well, to be fair, you guys didn’t exactly leave things on the best of terms.”

“Yeah, JB. I know. Thanks for the reminder, as if I didn’t fucking know that already.”

JJ scoffs, “Yeah? And how do you suppose I do that?”

John B gives him a knowing look through the screen. 

“You have to tell her the truth, JJ.”

“Funny.”

“J,” John B mildly scolds. “The reason she hates you right now is because you weren’t honest with her. The JJ she knew before that night never would’ve treated her the way you did. Buck up. Tell her.”

The call disconnects, and JJ is left staring at his screen with a tense jaw. He knew John B was right. He was always right. But how on earth was he expected to muster up the courage and tell you the truth about that night? He doubted — no. He knew it’d be impossible to convince you to hear him out. 

Then again, he also knew he had to try. Because he couldn’t stand to be around you nearly every single day for the next few months, knowing that you wouldn’t spit on him if he was on fire.

if you have an explanation and you want to share, go for it. i will share what i have to say below.

all in all i really dislike it.

the movie was better just because it followed the plot. no hate to those who worked so hard on it, but it i completely expected an exact replica of the book. like, where are the spiders?! and honestly, percy is the one who loved/fell in love with annabeth first cause as we all know she loved luke.

but in this, it seems more like he's just sorta there and she's the one falling for him or whatever, and thats not how it happened. i don't like what they did with grover cause he looks so young when in the book, the movie and the graphic novel he was a grown ass man cause, well, he's a grown ass man. but i do like him cause he's fucking adorable.

i don't really see much chemistry with luke and annabeth/ jealousy (if there was any) with percy towards luke (idek cause its been so long since i've read the books). but they changed some stuff, added stuff later, its just uggggghhhh. and annabeth just seems less stubborn and, and, its just a no for me.

and do not get me started on gabe. WHY ISN'T HE UGLY!!!? the actor for him for the movie was a better fit cause he truly looked like a smelly gabe.

also, the way percy found out about him being a halfblood is a hell no. and how he talked about his mom---- i wont even speak of it.

i do like ares and medusa though. they're great. and i cant wait to see the other gods. altogether good i guess for a non fan, but as a fan this is sorta disappointing. but of course i will watch it to the end cause i love percy jackson.

I’m so disappointed with Aemond’s storyline this season. It’s been so rushed and none of it’s really made sense when you compare it to season one (which was only ten days ago in episode one of s2!)

The first thing we should have seen is Aemond telling Alicent about accidentally killing Luke. Her being the only one that he admits to that it was a mistake and he regrets it, but Alicent is naturally horrified and rejects him, causing him to start to close himself off. He tells everyone else it was on purpose, putting on a front.

Then B&C happens. He finds the coin in his room but he keeps it to himself that he was the original intended target, because he’s afraid of being rejected even more by his family, who are already pissed about Luke. He goes to Helaena and attempts to apologise for Jaehaerys, but Helaena is too lost in grief to hear him out, making Aemond close off even more and become more stressed as the guilt builds up.

Rook’s Rest happens, and instead of purposefully trying to kill Aegon, Aemond is fully trying to take out Rhaenys and Meleys alone, thinking that if he kills them, it would help redeem him somewhat with his family. Only it’s bittersweet because while he did succeed in getting rid of Rhaenys and Meleys, he also accidentally gravely injured his brother and Sunfyre (like in the book). Now he’s fucked up again, and he’s spiralling. His mask becomes outwardly colder, but inside he’s a mess. 

He’s Prince Regent now, but the guilt inside from his mistakes piling up is making him act out harshly as ruler in order to try and regain control, but it just makes things worse and the smallfolk riot against him, which his mother and sister get caught up in. He’s messed up again, and caused his family members to be traumatised once more because of his actions.

He finally decides to take Harrenhal, like Aegon originally wanted. He hopes this will finally be a win for him and Team Green, and earn back his family’s love and trust. Only this turns out AGAIN to be a failure. He captures Harrenhal, but King’s Landing falls without him and Vhagar there. His mother and sister are now prisoners of the enemy, his grandfather and uncle are executed, and his brother and niece have disappeared.

After an entire season of build up, where we see the stress and guilt and pressure build within him, he finally snaps. He executes all the men and boys of House Strong, and fully becomes book!Aemond. 

I’m not saying any of this would be perfect or even good. I just think something like this would have given us more characterisation, better screentime, and his descent into ‘villainy’ would have felt more earned than what we got. And we wouldn’t have to rely on the actors to tell us what’s going on half the time, because the writers didn’t bother to show us on screen.

WISDOM SAGA SPOILERS

Ok, I really enjoyed the Wisdom Saga, it was good, but in my opinion, not the best.

I just feel like, it could've been better and that more could've been done for it. Idk man, these are my thoughts, so yah,

I've always really liked Mr. Jalapenos' previous decisions, but there were a few things scattered thoughtout:

Now, I don't know if my ears are broken or not, but I didn't really feel much emotion from Mico, the voice actor of Telemachus in Legendary, it got better in We'll Be Fine, but I just didn't feel right.

In Love in Paradise, I felt like Calypso should've been more energetic like she was in the snippet. I mean, Calypso has been remote and has not seen anyone for 100 years! She's bound to be ecstatic. (that being said, WANGUI IS WONDERFUL!!! omfg)

Finally, the one I was most disappointed about; God Games.

I had been looking so forward for this one, (and I must say, Luke Holt, voice actor of Zeus, FUCKING ATE!! Jesus Christ man, god damn) especially the lines of Apollo and Hephaestus, but, that's literally all they got. One godsdammed line. Apollo said some stuff about him being sad that he wouldn't get to hear the songs of the sirens anymore. And all Athena did was say, "oh yeah, don't worry bro, they're all good." HE WASN'T EVEN THAT HARD TO CONVINCE!! What happened to the fact that Ody's crew killed your SACRED CATTLE (!?) YOUR FRIENDS!!! Even Polyphemus was more pissed.

I get that Jorge might've been trying to show that he didn't really care, but he should've at least mentioned a bit more. And if you're gonna have a song about Athena's genius then maybe show her using it more.

These next ones are purely personal. I think they were fine as they are. But, yeah, these are my little wishes.

HEPHAESTUS WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!! Man, I just wished he had more screentime.

And I felt that Hera's voice was a bit flowy and to me didn't really suit, but, meh, maybe Jorge liked her portrayal of the character more. Idk.

But yeah, my main feud was with the trashy hand Apollo had been dealt.

I think it would've been better off if the songs were grouped together separately, so that it would be better, so there was more time and so that everything sounded nicer and fairer overall. The song is already 5 minutes, pushing six, (not really, but hyperbole), it would've been better separate.

Again, these are my feuds, very disappointed, but overall THE MUSIC WAS FIRE!!!!! It was amazing as usual. I just wish these details were tweaked. I love the voice actors sm.

I didn't get a chance to post about this before the season aired, but since this season looks like it is going to explore guilt in really interesting ways, it seemed like a good time to bring it up.

On the rewatch (and even during the first watch) of Season 1, I saw a lot of guilt and shame in Elliot Grihault's performance of Luke. The way he tells Rhaenyra that he shouldn't be the heir to Driftmark: "I'll just ruin everything," and then telling her, "I'm not like you- I'm not so perfect." And then desperation in his face and his voice when he swears to Rhaenyra that he won't fight on his diplomatic mission. "I swear it." I swear I won't cause a fight again and fuck everything up like I always do.

I think a few things are going on here. I think he has internalized the societal shame of being a bastard- feeling unworthy to claim Driftmark and unworthy of filling his beloved Grandfather's shoes (and he does love him so much- that is clear from their earlier scene together with the younger Luke actor and with how his face lights up with such relief when Corlys enters the room after recovering.)

I also think he feels guilty for maiming Aemond. Even though he was defending Jace, he was still the one that wielded the blade that maimed Aemond. I think he feels like he specifically made things worse for his family. And then at the dinner as well- when he laughs at the pig being served. (There are many ways fans have read that ranging from thinking it was malicious to the kind of inappropriate laughing at a funeral vibe. I think it was more the latter personally.) But regardless, I think this incident also goes into why he seems to carry this guilt- I'll just ruin everything, I'm not like you, I'm not so perfect- I'm always fucking everything up for everyone.

Drew Tanaka (Part 9)

"Peace at last ?"

"I wouldn't say peace," Drew says as she struggles to put reins on Porky, "it's more like a truce."

"Why's that ?" Connor asks her, leaning on Porky's stable.

"Well," she grunts as the pegasus moves his head again, "I talked to her about Silena and she understood, but she seemed kinda nervous about the whole thing."

"You think she's hiding something ?"

"I don't know-stop moving your damn head- no, not you Connor, the horse."

"It's unlikely, though." Connor says as he hands her the saddle pad, "she's too new to this world to be involved in something."

"Thanks, I wouldn't so sure about that. Remember her quest, a giant kidnapped her father ? It's the first time monsters use our mortal links to threaten us."

"Maybe she's got a really good relationship with her dad," Connor shrugs, "and we, a whole generation with parental issues, don't get how someone could use our mortal parents to blackmail us." He snorts, "If someone told me they had my mother, I would offer them a gift."

"Give me the saddle. Piper didn't seem on good terms with her dad. Famous actor, Tristan Mclean ?"

"I've been at camp since I was a child Drew, I have no idea who that is."

"Anyway, she told me they didn't speak a lot." She adjusts the saddle, give Porky an apple to distract him while she mounts him. "I think the whole story is fishy."

"Are you sure you like Piper ? Because you sure seems to try to find her problems."

"I'm not trying" she rolls her eyes, "but one disaster was enough, I don't need another Silena."

"Drew," Connor says softly, "Silena is dead, the war is over. Don't you think you're searching with something that isn't there ?"

"What ?" She snaps, "you think I'm crazy ?"

"I'm not saying that, but you've been so obsessed with "Piper being a new Silena" thing-"

"I wasn't obsessed, Stoll," she grits, "Piper thinks like Silena, she has charmspeak just like Silena, what else does she have in common with her too ?"

"What ? You think she's traitor ?" Connor cackles, "please, Drew, it's ridiculous."

"Listen, Stoll," she hisses, gripping Porky's mane tightly, "if all you are going to do is laugh at me, you can go. There is something weird with the whole quest. Piper insisted on going despite having no training whatsoever, and oh ! Her dad is kidnapped !"

"Coincidence !" Connor says with an infuriating flippancy, "they wanted leverage, and Jason's mom and Leo's weren't exactly available were they ?"

"Why ?" Drew frowns.

"They're dead."

"How the fuck do you know that ?"

"Annabeth told me about it after Thalia told her last summer and Leo talks a lot."

"Fine, but it doesn't change the fact that it's weird."

"Drew," Connor sighs tiredly, his smile a bit more strained, "I thought you wanted people to like you. You are not going to achieve that by accusing your new sister with no proof at all."

"Oh please, they'll get over it !"

"Accusing someone is big deal," Connor says bitterly, "trust me, it's no fun."

"Connor, it's not the same situation-"

"Except your own suspicions, do you have any concrete proof ?"

"No, but I can find-"

"Did she told you anything that might make her a traitor ?"

"I told you, she looked nervous-"

"Drew !" Connor snaps, "you can't go around telling people Piper is a traitor just because you think she is one !"

"Why not ?" She refutes hotly, "you turned out fine in the end !"

It's not right and she knows it.

She knows the nights Connor spent awake, cursing the campers who accused him, cursing Luke for being his brother.

She knows he doesn't trust people like he used to, not after the Titan war.

"I didn't mean it. Connor, I'm sorry."

But he's leaving.

"Connor !" She yells as he leaves the stables, "I'm sorry !"

Cursing, she dismounts Porky, and runs after the son of Hermes.

"Connor, don't you dare run !"

He runs, fast as a dryad.

"Oh for the love of gods." She groans, picking up speed, "Stoll !".

"Catch me and we'll talk !" He screams, going even faster.

"And no charmspeak !" He adds.

As if she could speak after chasing him for a good solid hour.

She's panting, her legs are aching and burning and they are probably the main show of the afternoon but she keeps running.

She has to apologise because she can't lose her best friend.

"Still there ?" He taunts her, the bastard still breathing perfectly, "Because I can keep going for a long- SOLACE PUT ME DOWN !"

As they pass in front of the infirmary, Will catches Connor and picks him up, bridal style.

"Will, you're the best !" She says when she arrives at their level.

"Don't listen to her, you're the worst." Connor pouts in Will's arms.

"What's been going on between you two ?" The son of Apollo asks sternly.

Drew's sure he would cross his arms if it wasn't for Connor.

"I messed up." She admits.

"She thinks Piper is a traitor." Connor says.

"That's not where I messed up." Drew clarifies.

"Oh yeah, she basically said that you can go around calling people traitors."

"And I'm wrong, I know."

Will sighs, obliged to free Connor to pinch his nose.

"First of all, apologise to Connor."

"Already did."

Will looks at Connor for confirmation and the son of Hermes nods.

"Great, second of all, what the fuck Drew ?"

"See ? It's ridiculous !" Connor exclaims.

"It's not !" She argues, "I have reasons !"

"What are they ?" Will sighs.

She tells me the same thing she told Connor, Piper's weird attitude and the mystery of her dad being kidnapped.

"Nonsense." Connor rolls his eyes.

She's ready to throttle him when Will talks.

"No, there's something weird about Piper's dad."

While Connor's jaw drops to the floor, Drew whoops.

"See, Stoll ? I'm not crazy."

"Wait, I'm not saying she's a traitor." Will warns, "but if her dad was kidnapped, then the giants knew about her."

"But she's new to this world !" Connor protests, "they certainly didn't get the information from here."

"Then it was from before."

"I don't know, Drew, even if the giants knew about her dad, what does it change ? They still saved Hera in the end and nobody died." Will points out.

"Yeah," Connor presses on, "if she was a traitor, she would have sabotaged the quest."

"That ends your theory, Drew." Will smiles, "congrats, your sister is not a traitor !"

"Yeah," she sighs, "I guess so..."

"The normal reaction would to be happy." Connor states.

"I know but you guys didn't see her when we talked about Silena, she looked uncomfortable when I told her she reminded me of her."

"As would anybody when you tell them you remind me of my dead sister." Connor mimics her voice.

"Shut up," Will hits Connor, "you almost had a panic attack when you saw Jason."

"Really ?"

"It wasn't a panic attack," Connor rolls his eyes, "I just freaked out a little when I saw blonde hair and glacial blue eyes."

"He stayed in the infirmary for two hours." Will adds.

"What happened to doctor-patient privacy ?" Connor complains.

"You didn't told me that." Drew frowns.

"Sorry," the son of Hermes says, "I just thought you had enough with your plate with Piper."

"Now that all the skeletons are out of the closet, come in." Will cheerfully push them in the infirmary.

"Why ?" They both ask.

"I need help classing the files."

They both groan.

Turns out the three of them have very diverse manners to sort things. While Will does it by alphabetical order, Drew tries to create the best colour pattern and Connor ranks it from younger to older.

Will kicks them out rather quickly, as they messed up more his files than actually help him, and Drew wanders back to the archery range, for once empty from any Apollo's children.

She grabs a bow and a quiver, sets the moving targets and begins her training.

Look. String. Shoot.

Black circle.

Both her friends agree, Piper is not a threat.

Patience, follow the target's path.

Shoot, blue circle.

She's a new demigod, a new sister with who Drew got off on the wrong foot.

Two arrows at once, two different targets.

String the bow, bowstring cutting her fingers because she forget her gloves.

Black circle, miss the other.

Too long since she practiced, too long since anyone bothered teaching her.

They relaxed and Percy disappeared.

They thought the war was over and a new one fell upon them, catching them by surprise.

Last arrow, make it count.

Farthest target, moving between trees.

She can't have another Silena, and maybe Connor is right, maybe she's just a lunatic broken by war, a paranoid girl seeing Silena where she isn't.

Breathe, in and out.

Bowstring next to the ear, arrow ready to fly.

Wait for the target.

But Piper was nervous, and she needs to be sure, otherwise the worm of doubt will rot her from inside until it consumed her entirely.

Breathe, steady the arms, don't let them shake.

One last despicable act, one last sister under charmspeak.

Are you a traitor ?

Piper will say no, as Connor and Will say, and Drew will be free from Silena.

No more nightmares.

No more seeing her where she doesn't belong.

Target in front of her, shoot.

Red circle, not yellow.

Drew sighs as she lets down the weapon.

She really needs to practice more.
