I've been watching a channel on youtube from a guy called Luke Humphris, and he does a lot of really amazing post-apocalyptic shorts and fantasy things, but then you find something in particular and it makes you just stop, you know?

This is such a fantastic sci-fi short. Yes, there's the cool horror of the things he sees out there, but then the last line hits and the deeper, underlying, mundane horror hits like sixteen times harder.

Also, I would watch that show.

Journal entry 325.

I've stopped counting in days, it's proven to be hard to measure. Especially here, where everything seems to stop for a while.

There's a few people here, but I've chosen to leave them alone, they seem to need the same thing I do: a minute alone. None of us know each other, so it's like nobody is here.

I've chosen to settle on the roof. It's a nice night and the stars are beautiful here. I can finally put my childhood astronomy obsession to use, so far away from all of the light pollution.

Actually, it's so far I'm not sure this place truly exists. There's a few places like this I've run into. Each time, they always seem to show up exactly when I need them.

Oh, and I always find my favorite black cherry soda. It has been discontinued since I was a teenager, but I can still find it in these places. Then there's the foreign snacks I find at these places. This time it's barbecue flavored ramen chips and they're heavenly. I hope I find these next time too.

There's free wifi here, it's secure and everything. But the odd thing I discovered is that I can type anything in for the password and it'll let me in. They also have some game consoles that are older than me, I grew up on these things. They were fun to mess around with for a while, but now I'm just on the roof.

I hope to find this place again, it's been fun here.

Journal Entry 385

I found an abandoned house and decided to explore. It's actually in pretty good shape, considering the fact everybody says it's been empty for years.

It's not exactly a normal place, but I think I've gotten pretty used to the odd locations I run across. This one is different though, because it's not made for me. Somebody definitely lived here, or rather, somebody does live here.

Not sure if it's a somebody or something, doesn't matter too much for me anyways. It's just kind of here. He's... he? Idk. Whatever it is, it handed me a note telling me how to get around the house.

I was confused at first, but as I started to approach the door I realized why. Not sure how to describe it really, but the geometry is kinda broken. Like if I start walking somewhere, I'll just end up in a space that shouldn't exist. But if I just walk forward, I usually end up somewhere that feels real.

I guess "real" isn't a great word anymore. Feels more... like a house maybe? The more I explore the more I realize there's not enough words in this language for events like this. They're not exactly uncommon anymore, though I don't think anybody ever discusses them. I doubt I'll ever see anybody from these locations again.

But as for this one, I think I might stay the night, so long as It doesn't object.

Post script - I found more of that black cherry soda. Never gets old. Except this time the spelling of cherry was wrong, they spelled it "Chery".

I just wanted to share some of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy series on youtube - so here they are!

Dynamo Dream - a series set in a cyberpunk future, brought to life by actors in digital environments created in Blender. The story is still unfolding but the worldbuilding is great and the visuals are beautiful

Space Station Weird - an animated series about a repairman who awakes from cryosleep in a seemingly abandoned space station, only for things to get weirder the longer he stays on board. It's very fun and atmospheric

Dungeon Flippers - an animated series following Maulie and Cleaveland, monster realtors who renovate and sell dungeons to fantasy baddies. It's a cute pilot, and they just successfully kickstarted a second episode!

Accidentally fell head first into a new channel on YouTube. Luke Humphris. Their stuff is a combination of disturbingly surreal, and really cozy. I cannot recommend enough.

Had to wait longer than usual to write this one. The vampires tried to get me again. I'm not sure why they're so into type O blood, but they always seem drawn to me.

*I'd like to say I'm not racist against vampires, I would just rather not be immortal is all. Especially if it means having as bad of an internal clock as those who chased me last night

Those guys followed me out of my hotel, they were trying to be sneaky, but I think it was a gang of newer vampires. Though you can never tell with immortals. Especially when they look 20 some-odd years old.

Anyways I got some rest in my van (after dawn, when the vampires dissolved in the sunlight).

*post script (quite a few hours later): .... that might have been a few magic people messing with me. Im not entirely sure. It's very possible, especially because they dissolved instantly. I don't know if vampires disolve instantly. Will have to research
