“And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men’.” ― LUKE 2 KJV

Morning Cat Report: Scripture
And the human appeared to them, and the glory of the overhead light shone round about them, and they were sore starved. But the human said, "Hunger not, for I bring you tidings of great food, which shall be unto all cats. For unto you this day in the city of Kitchen is opened a can, which is Friskies Meaty Bits."

I always try to put myself in the place of the shepherds. They've seen it all when it comes to what the night sky has to offer over the years. Must have been quite a sight and sound to freak them out to the point where they were "sore afraid." Pretty wild. I just love this aspect of the Christmas story.

Making A Memory
“…and Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19 There was this time… My family was on vacation over the holidays, in our 1980’s Ford LTD 2 station wagon. The car began to sputter and finally died. My dad and brother took off down the road to get help in a nearby town, while my mom and I waited with the car. Miraculously, my mom got the car to start again, so we…

GLORY TO GOD
GLORY TO GOD  Luke 2:14 NET. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among people with whom he is pleased!” We are back in the fields with the shepherds today. We are focusing on the words that the army of angels said after the angel had given his message to the shepherds. Are you aware that you know a little Latin? Yes, you do. In fact you just sang in Latin when we were singing…

Exploring Advent-Angels and Shepherds
The story of the angels visiting the shepherds, captured by a veteran and artist, for this second Sunday in Advent.
Shepherds and Angels That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah,…

A Christmas Homily from Carl Henry
I read my first Carl Henry book around 1975. I remember where I was and that Carl Henry’s words were both challenging and precise. The year was 1975. I was at my parent’s house at 4200 Spruce Street and stole away into my Dad’s office for a quiet place to read. The book was a slim volume called The Uneasy Conscience of Modern Fundamentalism. First published in 1947, it showed a mind and heart…

LUKE/ACTS S.O.A.P. ~ LUKE 2
Monday, 9/23/24
SCRIPTURE:
The angel said, “Don’t be afraid! Look! I bring good news to you—wonderful, joyous news for all people. "Your savior is born today in David’s city. He is Christ the Lord." ~ Luke 2:10,11
OBSERVATION:
This is same greeting Gabriel used with Zechariah and Mary -
Don't be afraid...
Can the wonderous word of God be so terrifying because it forces us - me - to realize He is that close all the time?
Wonderful joyous news for all people...
...including me...
Your savior -
not "a savior"...
The Savior...
Our Savior...
My Savior...
APPLICATION:
Don't be afraid!
Look!
Carry the Good News!
PRAYER:
Awesome saving Father God - Thank You always being so close - May I lean into and live our Your good news for all people You bring into my life today, and confess the fear that keeps me from surrendering my will for Yours in the same way Jesus did and taught - In His Name, Father, and for Your glory and honor and praise...
For Him, for you, for yours...

I just realized the PJO show runners could do something so sick and twisted and amazing during the Circe scene.
What if, the image that Percy sees in the mirror, the “cooler” version of himself, is like book accurate Percy. I just think that would be such a funny, messed up little Easter egg.

Who Is Jesus? (Luke 2:22-40)
The Gospels are not biographies – in the sense we think of them – but rather they are narratives that seek to answer a fundamental question about faith and life on this earth: Who is this Jesus?
The Presentation in the Temple, 14th century fresco in Pomposa Abbey, Codorigo, Italy When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”), and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the…

HER STORY: The Birth of Christ, Anna the Prophet
How long have you been waiting for the longing you have been praying about to be fulfilled? A longing you have felt certain God has invited you to pray about, that you feel certain God has indicated will be fulfilled? #Prophetess #Anna #Christmas
How long have you been waiting for the longing you have been praying about to be fulfilled? A longing you have felt certain God has invited you to pray about, that you feel certain God has indicated will be fulfilled? Anna’s story can be told in three stages: There was tragedy early in her life, then came the temple where she lived most of her life, and finally came the testimony God gave her…
