The English words disciple and discipline are linguistically related terms, revealing an important connection between the two concepts.[1] A disciple refers to one who is devoted to learning from another, with a commitment to practice their teachings and example. On the other hand, discipline involves the process of mastering what has been learned, with the goal of internalizing the teachings to…

I Am Coming to You (John 14:18-31)
Love and obedience go hand in hand.
Upper Room, by Gail Meyer “I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me, and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love…

Why the Spirit Sanctifies the Elect
In exploring the profound question of why the Spirit sanctifies the elect, a journey through Scripture, particularly the teachings of Peter, offers enlightening insights. The heart of this theological exploration lies in understanding the sanctification of the elect as “for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood,” a statement deeply rooted in Christian tradition and Scripture. Here…

When we read God's word and hear His truth, we’re responsible for how we respond to His instructions. If the Lord convicts us about a sin and points us towards the truth, and we don’t like it, we could be tempted to rationalize our disobedience. This is displeasing to God and if we continue in this path we become hard hearted and less sensitive to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the result would be painful. Israel walked in disobedience and therefore wandered in the desert for 40 years. Let’s learn from their mistakes and ask God to give us an obedient heart.
“Today when you hear His voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” Hebrews 3:15

"God gave birds wings, but he didn't forbid them from flying. He blessed cheetahs with speed, but he never forbad them from outrunning their prey. He did, however, give humans a brain and insisted that they not use it."
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
2 Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ

"In her obedience to God she shows us that perfect freedom and attaining our 'full potential' is found in submitting our fallen and corrupted will to the all-good Father, thus molding our will into His will and therefore being able to (eventually) not only 'know the good,' but will it and do it.
By keeping our souls and bodies pure, by not even accepting corrupted thoughts, we maintain the ability to hear and communicate with God, and thus know how to live in conformity with His will.
And so, no matter how ill we are, no matter our upbringing, no matter the genetic weaknesses we have inherited (of body and soul), no matter the state of the world around us, we have the opportunity by God’s grace, through the prayers of the Theotokos, to become healthy, to become holy. We too can, in our own dormition, pass from life to life through a mere 'falling asleep,' if only we would imitate her virtue."

If anyone's telling you that NOT explaining the reasoning behind a rule to a kid will make them obedient, they're full of it.
From a young age, my mom drilled it into me that if someone -- regardless of who -- couldn't give me a good reason behind what they were telling me to do then I didn't have to do it. That "because I told you so" and "because I'm a grownup" wasn't good enough. I was allowed, nay, encouraged to question my mom's house rules. And guess what?
I was by far the best-behaved member of my various groups of friends. Because I understood the good reasons behind the rules.
Like, my idea of being a rebellious tween involved:
going for a sleepover at a friend's house when her parents were gone for the weekend, walking with her to the local grocery store, getting a massive bag of smiley fries, and eating the whole thing in one sitting while watching tv
"sneaking" with my friends into my kitchen late at night during a sleepover (giggling loudly and being super obvious I'm sure) to eat ice cream when we technically were supposed to be asleep
dyeing my hair and dressing emo (my mom drove me to get my hair done and helped me shop for the clothes, lol)
I only sneaked out of the house once and it was with my parents and a friend so we wouldn't wake up her little sister (my friend was going on a trip with us, but if her sister woke up she couldn't go)
My cousin was raised the same way as me and he too was a stickler for the rules that mattered. I was babysitting him once and he wanted to go down from his apartment to his grandparent's apartment. Instead of just going, he asked me to take him because he wasn't allowed on the elevator by himself (I had no idea of this rule, so he could have 100% gotten away with it).

Righteousness and Sin in the Life of the Christian
All Christians are simultaneously justified before God and continue to struggle with sin. Both are true. We who have trusted in Christ as Savior have received judicial forgiveness of sins (Acts 10:43; Eph 1:7), eternal life (John 10:28), and the gift of God’s righteousness (Rom 5:17). Because God’s righteousness has been imputed to us, He declares us righteous in His sight. God’s righteousness is…

Love and Obedience (Revelation 3:7-13)
When we truly love someone, we want to do what they say, to fulfill their wishes – whatever those desires are.
“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true,    the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close;    and what he closes, no one can open: “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me. Look, I will…

"We're not called to live by human reason. All that matters is obedience to God's Word and His leading in our lives. If God says go, we’ll go. If He says stay, we’ll stay. When we are in His will, we are in the safest place in the world." -Brother Yun

God is working on each of us slowly and steadily. He's not expecting perfection overnight . We all make mistakes, stumble and sometimes fall. God is patient with us, He loves us deeply. What He truly wants from us is a heart of trust and obedience. If we truly accept Jesus as our Saviour, then we must be willing to leave our will, leave the life of disobedience and trust God’s will for our lives. We must be assured that His ways are always better than our ways. Every time we choose to obey – even when it costs us dearly – we come out the other side far more grounded and strengthened to do the next thing God has for us. And those who choose their own way miss out on His blessing and unfortunately reap the consequences of their unbelief and disobedience.
“My sheep listen to My voice: I know them and they follow Me” (John 10:27) Obey Him today, even if you don’t feel like it.

Rather than caregiver and child, parents and children were framed as adversaries in everyday home life. As the angst of the culture wars spilled over into family life, establishing obedient children through power and rule became the primary task of the parent, rather than creating a safe and nurturing environment.

Basically Satan told others to question God and that's what makes him the big evil villian in the Bible. I think that says a lot about what Christianity teaches people.
