Here is my contribution to Our Favorite Scene Zine latest edition, which compiled over 20 artists’ interpretations of the reunion scene from THE HOUSE IN THE CERULEAN SEA. This book was my first inroad to TJ’s staggering body of work, and remains one of my comfort books at times when my faith in humanity is challenged, or when parenting two smarty-pants gets particularly hard. 😅 From the outset, I wanted to focus on the kids’ reactions to Arthur and Linus’s reunion, because love is something that children inherit from their grownups, and that joy multiplies as they grow up in safe and accepting spaces. I hope you like how it came out. 💕

Linus's first Yule!

Lucy is wearing a shirt with a blushing skull that says "Live your best life" and he makes an incredibly innocent expression at the viewer. His black hair it's choppy and unkempt. Next to him is Phee in a floral shirt and plaid skirt with leggings. Her red hair is full of flora. Phee stands with her arms crossed and smirks knowingly at the viewer. End ID]

i know that lucy is the favourite in the thitcs fandom and i love him SO much too, but sal means so much to me 🥺 i am holding him in my hands so so gently. the scene where linus helps him move his desk and typewriter out of the closet and in front of the window in his room??? when he's talking about how he's never felt safe before coming to live with arthur and asking if linus is going to make him leave marsyas 😭

I just desperately need an high school AU of the house in the cerulean sea, where there are Arthur, Linus, Zoe and Helen as teenage and they all like volunteer in the orphanage or something like that, so they find the children. And I want a LinXArthur slowburn, whit a deeper analysis of Linus character and his youth (obviously Arthur’s too, but I haven’t seen a fanfic about Linus’ childhood). I want to see a deeper relationship between Zoe and Helen.

I don’t think I am asking for too much 😭.
