i finally had time to finish a few Somewhere Beyond the Sea sketches!!!!! there’s some lighthearted spoilery Arthur stuff below the cut

the proposal scene WRECKS me. Cerulean Dads i love you. also it’s so great how Arthur flaunts his ring every chance he gets. no one will forget that he is in love and married to Linus Baker! i wish Linus got his own ring though :(

One of my favorite things about Somewhere Beyond the Sea was how was Sal has grown and become more comfortable since the beginning of the first book. I mean, this kid who rarely spoke up about anything, and NEVER around Linus, is now the one the kids almost always trust to speak up for them.

And more importantly, he calls out the adults for dumb things they're saying or doing SEVERAL times throughout this book. It says so much about Arthur, Linus, and Zoe and the way they raise these kids that he's comfortable doing that. It makes my heart so happy to see him have a place where he's that comfortable in his own skin, and I love the adults in his life for giving him enough respect and room to flourish for that to happen. It shows in all of the kids, but I think Sal especially.

So I tore through both The House in the Cerulean Sea and Somewhere Beyond the Sea and when I got to this line in SBtS this was all I could think of.

Yes, Arthur Parnassus is too much of a gentleman to actually do this. …but he should have.

There should be a movie of the house in the cerulean sea. I feel very strongly that David Tennant and Michael Sheen should play Arthur and Linus respectively. And Pearl Mackie should play Zoe. Yes, I know that the book is American, so casting British people doesn't make sense but I do what I want.

Arthur and Linus go swing dancing for pride!!

Arthur would absolutely have a small collection of rainbow socks, and I couldn’t get the image of trans wing tipped shoes out of my head. I think Linus could be persuaded into a pair of rainbow suspenders. He probably wouldn’t get any more colorful than that but it’s fun to think about how he’d experiment with personal style. they are so in love.

Guess who speed read House in the Cerulean Sea the day before its sequel Somewhere Beyond the Sea was released!

Both of these books had me emotionally enthralled, cannot recommend enough for Good Omens fans dealing with the wait.

I recently read Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune, the brand-new sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea, and I am overcome with feels about Arthur and Linus Baker-Parnassus and their seven magical children! By the time this book takes place Linus is very clearly just as much their dad as Arthur is, in both his own mind and theirs, and it makes my heart melt.

I think part of what makes lucy so endearing is that even though he's an unholy little terror whose first response to any minor inconvenience is playfully suggesting murder, he's also just a typical little kid and he's unafraid to show it

like when he says something really cute so linus scoops him up and kisses him multiple times on the cheeks, then when he tries to put him down, lucy refuses to let go, clinging to his dad and resting his head in the crook of linus' neck and getting all sleepy and sweet

Or when he gets in trouble for making sentient mud men and linus does the typical parent thing of shouting his full name ("LUCIFER BAKER-PARNASSUS!") and lucy, who's probably never had a last name before and who has been eagerly waiting for his and his siblings' adoption to go through for the past year, just stops in the middle of running away and says, "aw, i love that name!"

he's the antichrist, but he's also just a little guy!
