Final note: According to some very tenuous canon from Fallout Shelter Online, she seems to have met MacCready on the outside while they were both hunting the same deathclaw to protect her village. So she continued to be awesome and was definitely an amazing mother.

People need to stop leaving me alone to marinate in AU ideas, because I've got another one.

In this, characters are switched with the person they knew who had died. Basically their stories are almost the same as the original, except a different choice may have lead to their deaths.

MacCready stayed behind for Lucy and Duncan to escape, but was killed by ghouls in the process. She wouldn't have known about Mac's Gunner past until a while after he died, when they're harassing her for taking jobs in the Commonwealth, and she might be less of an asshole (I love Mac, but he has moments), but maybe she's just as sarcastic?

Piper tries to expose the truth against the mayor conspiring with raiders, but died in the process, leaving her father alone with a young Nat. Would he be a romance option?

Deacon was killed protecting his wife from the University point Deathclaws, giving her time to escape and be taken in by the Railroad.

Cutler is instead the one who found Danse mutated (or found out Danse was killed and replaced by a synth) and killed him.

she has a very creative vault-tec approved list of family friend curses that she is sure to share with maccready. she’s known for the oversized tunnel snakes jacket she got from butch on her escape from the vault. she was supposed to work on pip-boys, but that fell flat when she ended up becoming the world renowned babysitter. lucy maclean archetype. when you see someone so hateful that it inspires you to be kind.

Seriously. Why does MacCready have a childhood sweetheart named Lucy. And a wife named Lucy. Who are different people?? Because one is from Little Lamplight, and the other he meets fighting a Deathclaw.

Was she originally meant to be Lamplight Lucy and then they changed the lore?

Update time!

I haven’t missed a day off NoSkipNovember since I started, and I’ve written two rough draft chapters and am partially through a third! Editing will happen at a later date; I’m kind of stuck on whether one of these chapters is accurate to MacCready’s character. So I’m just ignoring the mind gremlin telling me to edit and focusing on writing new stuff.

The chapter I’m currently working on is sad and dark, and I’ve been listening to music to get me in that mood. Ran into two songs that reminds me of Lucy and MacCready:

I think that Mac is so touch starved that when Sole comes in to give him a hug, he kinda pushes them away until the hug happens and then it's like letting open the floodgates and now he isn't letting go.

This man needs to be held so tight and for so long it's almost ridiculous.

I can imagine he’d feel kinda guilty because he hasn’t let anyone hold him like that since Lucy. And he’s kinda guilty about it but he can’t just stop, not when he realizes how good it actually feels and how much he needs it

I can also see him as someone that may or may not shed some tears if ever cornered with a genuine, long “I love you” hug
