This has probably been said but, KUDOS TO JONATHAN STROUD FOR GETTING INTO THE MIND OF A TEENAGE GIRL LIKE THAT!!

Like when I picked up the book, I never imagined I'd root for her.

There was nothing idealistic about her, just relatable. Her sense of displacement when Holly joined the group, her guilt about Lockwood. It wasn't that just because there is a somewhat traumatised girl as mc, those things were bound to be. No. It was all so well explained.

His writing style is impeccable. The humour blends seamlessly with the seriousness of their situation, the chill of ghost hunting. The way things were described made them tangible. The metaphors were on point. I have never been to London, yet I feel as if I know it, just a little bit 🤏

I loved all of Lockwood's dialogue, his personality (the airiness, his role as a leader and friend), his fierce loyalty to his cause (the scene at the grave? I was close to tears there)

And I kinda liked the fact that Lockwood and Lucy didn't kiss. It adds something to their relationship for me.

The lockwood and co Fandom is probably the most welcoming and sweetest Fandom ever.

People each other's ideas and there is just a lot of healthy interaction.

And a thing that I just adore about this Fandom is that in almost a full year of being in it, I never seen any fanarts or fanfictions which have sexualised women or looked down on the LBGTQ+ community which something I wish more Fandom did.

I just wanted to thank every one who is a part of locknation for being sweet, open-minded and real.

so i was wearing my lockwood and co shirt today, and my friend took at look at it an was like "so what's lockwood and co about? that's, like, your thing, right?" and damn i just got so excited and proceeded to launch into what it's about

friend one (the one who brought it up) kept offering sarcastic commentary on the Problem at which point (when i was finaly able to talk after he made me laugh at one of those comments) all i say is: "basicaly, it comes down to this: government conspiracies"

and he looses it completely at this point

friend two says she wants to read the series now

friend one is shocked its a series. he only knew about the show. also, he is now piecing together the plot of government conspiracies and the source of the Problem (laughs at the source of the problem being a giant source. i sadly tell him that's a coincidence (or is it?))

at one point he gets into the philosophical/theoretical implications of a ghost-ridden world, asking me how it functions. then laughs at himself, because those are absurd question. i tell him there's a character who asks those exact questions as he just did. he proceeds to loose it again. conversation goes like this:

me: his name is geroge

friend one: of course his name is george *trying not to die of laughter*

me: i love george

friend two: damn me too bro

(ah, good, a fellow george appreciator, and she doesn't even know him yet)

then we ended up talking about our favorite government conspiracies

there is no point to this post. i just wanted yall to know about this wild conversation i had the time i gave my friends the "explain a book plot badly" summary of lockwood and co

not for nothin but coop is also scared of lucy in a sense. like i think he knows that inside her is this force to be reckoned with if pushed just right. like he saw her point that gun at her dad, saw her face, heard the anger in her when she yelled at him about letting him go. and sure, she didn't shoot him but would she have if coop hadn't intervened? (was that why he intervened??) i think he thinks it's possible she would have tbh.

but that's not why she scares him. and ig the word i really mean is that he's intimidated by her. it is so much easier to lose your temper than to hold back. it is so much easier to stick your head in the sand and ignore things that challenge you and make you uncomfortable. and yet at every opportunity, she just keeps pressing on despite everything she sees and learns. she is that determined. and yeah, she's shaken by the end of it and she's no longer smiling (yet) but she fucking does it anyway and goes with him. that's insane!

she went from being in a very good vault where she was well taken care of, protected and sheltered, where almost nothing bad ever happened to her (the worst we know of is that her mom died) and then after everything she's been through in just two weeks' time, not only does she go 'yeah, i'm gonna keep going and learn the whole truth and face the ppl who did all of this' but she does it w/a guy who has: hit her in the face, tied her up and used her as bait for a fucking monster, put a leash on her and dragged her through the wasteland, mocked her while she could have been nearly dying of dehydration, CUT OFF HER FINGER, and then sold her to an organ dealership. THAT'S INSANE. SHE'S INSANE FOR THAT. and that is very intimidating for a guy has very clearly let 'that cruel old world change him instead'.

like not only is he a bit like 'yikes. what if she really was that bad' but it's even more intimidating to him that she isn't! bc being good is so. much. harder.

tldr bc this got away from me: coop finds lucy very intimidating
