This is the introduction post to my Linked Universe zombie au

Basic summary for the entire au:

The zombie apocalypse happened and everything went to shit. Now those who are left alive have to try to survive. But they have more problems to deal with than just the dead. Between having to find food and water, sicknesses that were once no big deal now being something that can kill you, needing supplies that are no longer being made and just dealing with the collapse of society in general. Those who are left have to fight tooth and nail to survive. Not to mention having to fight the living. The apocalypse just brings out the worst in some people.

Badass summary for the entire au:

The world has been plunged into chaos. The dead have risen and now terrorize the living. Those left alive are now forced to fight to survive. Even in a world drenched in darkness there is still hope. There are people fighting to bring light back to this land and stop the march of the living dead. But the people must be careful, for evil is rising and I do not mean the dead.

Basic au Information:

All of the chain’s Hyrules are combined into one.

List of places included that aren't Hyrule that are included: The Great Sea, Termina, Koholint, Holodrum, Labrynna, Lorule and Hytopia. 

Mix of magic and modern technology.

All characters that were Gorons, Rito, Zora, etc. are now all Hylian. The only ones who aren’t are Fairies and Gerudo. 

The postal system still works in Hyrule and some parts of Termina.

This au includes a large amount of side characters.

Other Information:

The chain are not traveling together. They will interact with each other throughout the au. Some of them know each other from before the apocalypse.

Even though this is a zombie au I don’t plan on killing too many characters. Because I personally don’t like when they kill off a bunch of characters in zombie stuff (looking at you walking dead and dawn of the dead). 

But some characters will die. I have already started choosing characters to kill off.

I just. idk. something about Steph getting along best/closest to Jason and Damian out of everybody... like I have no clue how much canon basis that's actually got but I can't stop thinking about it. yeah, yeah, the Dead Robin's Club, we've all seen it, but also — they're the outcasts. the ones who forged their own paths, the ones who question if they're really wanted at all. they have the most fundamental disagreements with Bruce/Batman, based in numerous unfortunate uncontrollable circumstances. Stephanie Brown is an outlier and shoudl not have been counted. she forced her way in and died on the way out — middle point between Tim and Jason. she isn't part of the family the way anyone else is and her one tie to them (dating Tim) is a thing of the past but she still sticks around with the excuse of the nightlife because if she didn't what would she have to call family. her situation with her mom is complicated but at least she HAS a mom, yknow? and that's a point of connection with Damian, because his relationship with Talia is complicated and complex and fraught as well. so she gets it. she gets Damian and she gets Jason because she understands where he comes from and why he believes the way he does and can just accept it and move on. maybe she believes in capital punishment, too, just a little (maybe it would be easier if her father just died). her place in the family is so fragile and she almost wishes she didn't have one at all, she's so at odds with Bruce so often, the whole thing with Tim is a mess, STEPH HERSELF is a mess. but she has the most connection with Damian and Jason because they feel that way too. they've burned bridges and, to varying degrees, repaired them too. they've all died and come back. the three of them have a unique understanding of each other that the rest of the fam maybe can never quite understand. that's why I can't stop thinking about it.

What if how Adam and Lucifer meet, because I love the idea of Lu being a mafia boss, he saves Adam from being eaten because Adam ram out of bullets or couldn’t grab his own gun?

YESS!! YES YES!!! I love this!!

One towers over him and Adam thinks it's over only for Lucifer to shoot it from it's head.

And then maybe he just grabs Adam and brings him to his own car, and Adam just goes along with it in order to escape.

What if the LU guys get cursed into beings of endless agony. What then. Idk, I’m kicking and screaming to not get back into my creepypasta phase(I don’t think it’s working) and I finally watched a few mlp infection aus(basically zombie aus). I got inspired. Please ignore the crappy names I gave them, I just felt like I needed to put something there. The colors are also off(I didn’t even properly color Marin, I just blocked out the shapes). I got lore for them ig and reason for why. Yeag

So it’s like an au where the black blood can like, infect people, specifically the Links. Marin, the Dream Granter, comes from Legend’s infection. He gets trapped in a twisted version of Koholint with that thing chasing him around. He has to wake himself up by speed running getting all the instruments and waking the Wind Fish all over again. All the while plant-based body horror is happening to his actual body. Plant-based body horror actually freaks me out so bad, so I can’t draw that hah. But he will free himself in the end and will be coughing up various plant things for weeks. He’s overall fine physically in the end 👍

Warriors is the smallest one I drew, Heroic Face. He’s actually coated in black blood, and crying it out. Eyeless Jack looking mf lamo. He hostile to everyone, but can eventually be talked back into reality. The Links cannot fight him, he’s used to fighting many enemies at once. He keeps mumbling about not being an actual hero, about the war, about how different he is compared to the other Links. So, they enlist in the power of friendship to help snap him out of it. Of course, that’s not all they have to do, they also then need to beat him into next Tuesday. Wars will still be fighting them, he can’t control that, but he will hold himself back for a moments, letting them get a few hits in. At the end, he’s better mentally over all. Physically, he won’t really be able to move much for a while.

Idk how Ravio would work tbh, maybe even after being infected he would act like his usual self for a while. But over time, he’d get more and more aggressive, hating things that bare any sort of resemblance to him. Of course that mean he would eventually go after Legend and the other Links as well. I’d image there is a giant maw under his bunny head, he would try to bite his friends and also just try to attack them any way he can. They have to smash the mirror to finish the first phase, after that he’ll be inconsolable, unable to be reasoned with at all. Before that he’s more aware of what he’s doing, but can’t really stop himself too much. It’s like the opposite of Warriors fight. They still need to beat him into next Tuesday. He’s doing terrible at the end, physically AND mentally. Though being technically a Link, huh.

I’m also thinking of it infecting the Zelda’s as well, but idk yet. Idk if I’ll continue this. Tell me if you want more ig lol.

Just wanted to share a detail from my Lu zombie au that I am very slowly making.

Linkle is trying to train her cucoos to kill zombies. Warriors has added this as yet another reason to fear cucoos.

Linkle training cuccos to kill is soooo funny because i imagine her standing there like “:3” while the birds commit murders

Zombies are just cucco snacks is a story idea for my lu zombie au. And I have not written anything for it yet, I've only jotted down the idea.

Linkle loves cuccos and has a couple during the apocalypse that she takes care of. She is trying to train her cucoos to kill zombies. Warriors is worried about this for a two main reasons.

One, what if the cuccos turn into zombies(they can't only people can but Warriors doesn't know that).

Two, what if they mistake a person for a zombie(no clue if they would be able to tell the difference but Linkle is training them to attack only on her command).

The fact that Linkle is doing this in the first place is another reason on Warriors list of why he doesn't like cucoos.

Bonus detail that @crazylittlejester came up with when I shared the idea with them: Linkle goes :3 while watching her cuccos kill things

can i ask why you like zombie fics? :0 and like. what tone/tropes/ect you like?

WELL. I generally just enjoy apocalyptic stories. I read the Left Behind series when I was like, 11, just because my dad happened to have all the books (hilariously, I don't think he ever read more than the first two or three lol but we had the ENTIRE series. 12 books. and I later collected the Left Behind Kids ones too skskdnfnskfnsk. hashtag just church kid things???) and it kind of just... grew from there. I don't think I ever really gave zombie stories in particular a second thought until I was like... 14 and a friend had mentioned that she watched the show The 100 and I just. got curious about it, bc it's already a post-apocalyptic story, which is enticing to me personally, and in the midst of my secondhand fandoming via that friend, I came across this one fic that made it into a zombie apocalypse AU. it's called "This Is A Song About Somebody Else" and the worldbuilding is just... AUGH it's just such good worldbuilding?? like the way zombie infection works in that story is SO interesting and the way it's shaped the world the author places the characters in is so well fleshed-out. (I will say, fair warning, there is some sexual content in the middle of it, but the worldbuilding and character arcs are good enough that I just kinda scroll really fast as soon as I hit that and continue reading once the scene is done skdcnskfnskfn). basically I attribute my love for zombie stories to that really well developed fanfic I read when I was 14 and then last winter spent literally two days scrolling back through AO3 to find again. and I've still never seen the source material!! I've never watched The 100 and honestly idk if I ever will!!! but I secondhand fandomed for a while and that fic gave me an interest in zombie stuff that continues to this day akdkxkanfndskfn

so the thing with apocalypse stories in general, including zombie ones, is that action doesn't cut it for me?? like my favorite apocalypse stories are Station Eleven (the book, not the HBO adaptation. I have thoughts on that that I might share at some point but idk.) and Gracie's (@imissthembutitwasntadisaster) apocalypse-verse and those are both... very quiet. almost mundane even as the world is ending/has ended. there's a calmness to it that I can't totally explain, but it's really just... life. living in the midst of things. and that's the thing that got me about This Is A Song About Somebody Else, too! there's calm. there's a sense of stillness that's fallen over the world and it's kinda chilling but also draws you in!! THAT'S what I think I love the most in apocalypse stories. (also — TLOU definitely gets the balance of action/mundanity right as well, even though being based on a video game there's a lot more action required than a lot of the stories I'm discussing here.)

and obvs when I'm talking about this stuff, there isn't just ONE THING I'm into regarding apocalypse/zombie stories. I like all kinds! I'm not picky tbh. but my favorites are when the worldbuilding is interesting and presented well, and also when the horror of the circumstance is very present in a way you the audience can really feel. I LOVE the horror of it all. but also, what it comes back around to is the perseverance and what makes it WORTH persevering.... the HOPE.

this will be a long fic with lots of gore, horror, violence, and character deaths (temp and perm), as well as permanent injury.

the general gist is ganons tomb is opened in a modern era and it unleashes gloom into the world which acts kind of like a zombie apocalypse!

Another AU with our OCs. This time it’s a lighthearted goofs with fairies. Lu Zhen gets saved from his bad life accidentally when fairy king decides to send his son to kidnap him as ransom. They let him live freely in the city when they see that Lu Zhen is more than happy to be there and also, one of Lu Zhens bodyguards is also the kings husband.

No, the king and his avatar did not tell their husband about their plan. Yes, their husband got kinda mad. But then Lu Zhen himself pretty much thanked everyone for the kidnapping and when to wear the prettiest fairy fashion he could find (while falling in love with Long Min).

Also, Lu Zhens kinda friend, also a rich kid, gets accidentally involved with fairies by being saved a big, fluffy bee fairy. A injured gang leader accidentally frees a fairy who’s been sealed away for using dark magic, and now they’re tormenting each other. A zombie looking fairy who loves light finds his way to Lu Zhens  driver, and settles to his apartment because it’s warm and bright

LINKED UNIVERSE ZOMBIESS

woooft hey friends, its been a while but LU never left my brain or my heart and i stumbled across a very interesting idea

Zombie Apocalypse AU for Linked Universe.

It could either be modern world or in their world, personally I like the modern world, it offers a lot of interesting tropes.

So minor CW for mention of hospitals, zombies, potential gore, guns and violence, all the stuff that comes with zombie apocalypses, ya know? :P

Hyrule I see being one of the ones closest to the outbreak when it happens, so he's been in survival mode for a while. He's eating anything edible he comes across. Old moldy fruit, dog kibble and water still in toilets are all on his menu. He never stays in any area for long, and often travels through the wilderness from town to town. Extremely skittish, doesn't trust anyone.

Wild woke up in a hospital after being in a coma for a while, and was just completely out of it, barely remembers a thing, and wakes up in a completely empty hospital. Since he basically had no real recovery period, he just goes absolutely feral from day one. Has secret worries he's actually a zombie.

Time works an office job, and has been beaten down with the stresses of modern life for a while now, and as soon as the outbreak happened he left work and headed to his nephews ranch out in Ordon. He feels a bit guilty for relishing in the freedom of it all, how he doesnt have to go to work everyday. Exhausted from trying to keep all these kids alive.

Twilight is out in the middle of nowhere, on his ranch, and wouldn't have even known there was an apocalypse until his uncle came over. Generally completely at peace with the whole thing, with some concern for loved ones, but passive. Until dem blasted zombers went for his goats. Adopts all the stray pets that no longer had homes and takes care of them. Has a full backup generator.

Sky seems like just a silly guy who bumbled his way to safety. Really good at helping the others open up and talk through their issues. When it comes to hand to hand combat though he takes the zombies down easily, and always comes through without a scratch. He's the guy that you'd think would be harmless but is actually a beast. Can tell when danger is coming by reading the signals wild birds give.

Four is an exhausted mechanic, the voice of reason, and is very excited to get to use their skills for more interesting things, ie. hotwiring cars, making bullets, and the creation and repair of other such weapons. Hard to keep track of, has a tendency to disappear and reappear like nothing happened.

Legend is a full on apocalypse prepper. There is nothing you can do to convince me otherwise. His uncle was also a knight/military man, so I think of Legend as a kind of begrudging army brat. He's got the full army bunker with floor to ceiling shelves of medicine, canned food, water bottles, and likely a lot of firearms. Legend strikes me as pretty trigger happy, he's also super paranoid and doesn't really want to share with anyone. Has to be coaxed out of his super secure storm cellar. More scared of losing anyone he tries to protect that anything. Give us more redneck conspiracy theorist comic relief legend.

Warriors is a former military man who lost his squadron in the outbreak and now will do anything to keep his new family alive. He joined military school really young, and it kind of messed him up because it hadn't been what he wanted, so he's really protective of Wind. Always feels insanely bad about killing the zombies, because he still sees them as people.

Wind is a feral child, who said fuck middle school and all this, stole some knives and set off. He's hell bent on finding his sister who ended up at one of the refugee camps. Really good at swiping stuff off other people. Doesn't trust anyone besides War. Helps Legend makes maps of the areas around them, devises neat traps to kill zombies. Surprisingly cold blooded when fighting.

BONUS: They find Ravio after they found themselves in need of supplies and Legend is like, "I know a guy" and takes them to an outpost sort of place where Ravio has a little shop tent set up. Super sleazy, salesman chatting them up for a couple extra caps. Legend is really good at bargaining.
