We use being cold, hungry, and tired a lot in our writings, and that makes sense! Those aren't pleasant feelings, but what's not used enough is all of the other symptoms that can occur under those conditions.
Being malnourished not only causes the feeling of hunger, but can give you headaches, and make you feel weak, faint, sick, cold, and tired. It makes you irritable, unable to concentrate, and can even cause wounds to take longer to heal, while brusing much more easily. After a while you even develop an aversion to food, and don't want to eat. You feel nauseous just thinking about it, and breaking a fast isn't something you can do with a flick of your fingers. Your body isn't used to eating, and it may not sit well with you.
Not eating can also cause your blood sugar to drop, which is a whole entire thing in and of itself, and you don't have to be a diabetic to experience it. Low blood sugar is horrible 0/10 do NOT reccomend (but definitely do in whump!)
As for being cold, it can not only be uncomfortable, but it can make you feel physically ill. Especially when paired with a lack of vitamin D from low sun exposure. You just constantly feel sick, and may even begin to feel hot. It is absolutely FREEZING in my room all the time and I always feel sick. Horrible. Do it to your whumpees and tell them if they're good they can go outside and lay in the sun. That's shit's awesome when you're cold.
And of course, with sleep deprivation, it not only makes you drowsy, but it basically screws everything up. Your ability to think, your coordination, your strength. All you wanna do is curl up into a ball and go to sleep, no matter where you are. There's so much you can do with a tired whumpee.
The most fun thing about all of these is that they can generally go together all at once, inflicting symptoms of the others in an endless loop of torment. So yeah, go nuts! It's miserable!
#all of this is from my own personal experience#I live in constant turmoil#it sounds like I'm joking but I'm really not#also I am no doctor obviously this may not be totally accurate#I did a tiny bit of research but as I said most of this is from my own experience with this stuff and how it affects me personally#as well as general knowledge too I'm not that f'ed up. but as I said I did a bit of fact checking.#whump#whump blog#whumpblr#whump community#whump things#whump stuff#sick whump#whump inspiration#whump inspo#my post

hello
In what way do you think Dream is disabled/affected post-prison and if he does, what do you think he does to hide it?
permission to yap granted
this is what i do in most of my fics, so i have a good amount of content to go through. i could keep yapping, honestly, but i wanted to include the main things that cause my brainrot. gross pictures under the cut.
muscle atrophy. this happens quickly as the body enters starvation mode and begins to burn proteins. there would be a visible decrease in muscle mass, he would feel very weak and his limbs might tingle. recovery is possible, but isn't as easy as i think many people portray. the body is smart and will reduce its basal metabolic rate to adjust for a long period of starvation, and even after leaving the prison, his body would be primed and ready for another period of starvation. his body has learned that his environment doesn't provide consistent food. the body cannot 'reset' after a normal calorie intact resumes. the body keeps the score, or whatever they say. (i looked at a lot of pictures from 'the starvation experiment'. it lasted a little less than a year and was a setting where participants were carefully kept alive. most men lost 25% of their weight and only returned to their pre-study weight after 2 years of extensive treatment and therapy. u know cdream ain't seein a therapist. pictures under the cut)
quickened mouth decay / mouth dryness. on the topic of starvation, the mouth is actually one of the first places affected during a period of starvation. we don't make the saliva that we should when we aren't eating, and without saliva, the mouth begins to rot. this, along with fasting headaches, would be one of the first things he notices in the prison. it would be fixed pretty quickly upon eating normally.
seizures. many things can cause seizures to begin in someone who wasn't born with an epileptic condition, and dream's experienced most of them: starvation, head trauma, nerve damage, severe vitamin d deficiency, severe sodium deficiency, severe stress. these may decrease in frequency as he heals, but he'll be at greater risk if he fasts for any amount of time or if he's stressed. low-level muscle spasms are also going to be common.
impaired night vision/ decreased overall visual acuity. malnutrition does a ton of funky things, including to the eyes. he'd probably have a harder time adjusting to nighttime; i imagine returning to the prison is comfortable for this reason because he can control the brightness. hazy, eroded corneas are also common and might be visible to others. i put a picture under the cut. notice the green hue.
weakened immunity. like many others have mentioned, he will emerge from that cell with a paper-thin immune system. he'll be particularly weak to pneumonia and other respiratory diseases-- muscle atrophy also effects the muscles of the lungs.
essential tremors. just a fancy word for constant shaking. these could be psychological in nature, given the, you know, torture, but there are some links between malnutrition and tremors as well. he might try to hide it with weighted gloves.
improper amputation. "improper" is certainly a word for it, i know, but i want to emphasize that the kind of chop c!quackity would perform is nowhere near the level of a professional, surgical amputation. wearing a prosthetic would be very painful to say the least, especially if it isn't hand-crafted to suit his residual limb. i think cdream would probably try to endure that pain for the sake of hiding a major amputation, ie leg or arm, but i'm not sure he'd worry much about something like a finger. losing fingers doesn't affect grip strength as much as you might think, and i feel like thats all he'd really care about.
panic attacks, ptsd, memory loss, depression, hallucinations. just being locked in a single room for that long, let alone being tortured in it, would be enough for any of these symptoms. we have canon evidence for many of these, of course.
whatever other symptoms his injuries caused. depending on what tendons/muscles/bones quackity targeted, we might be looking at some different symptoms. i'm a big fan of concussion headcanons, and stiffness/immobility around scar tissue.
ultimately, i think the best bets for cdream as far as HIDING these effects are thick clothing, ill-fitting prosthetics, weighted gloves, moving in daylight, and avoiding confrontation. he'd probably want to prioritize mobility training to regain some dexterity and coordination, and to ensure that he can run away even if he can't fight.

Can I do a serious post for a minute.
If you're having chronic fatigue, changes in blood pressure, memory problems, low grade fevers, frequent headaches, brain fog, dysautonomia and faint-like experiences when you stand up too fast, you need to get checked for anemia.
If you have unexplained chronic pain, including muscle, joint and bone pain, muscle weakness, dry skin, chronic fatigue, high blood pressure and fevers, you need to get checked for vitamin D deficiency.
These are both incredibly common (some statics say 30% and 42% respectively, but if that's too low or high is anyone's guess) and widely overlooked conditions that can and frequently do cause debilitating symptoms if left untreated. Just because they're widely known about and made fun of in various media doesn't mean you're immune to them. Both of these conditions can result in fatal complications without proper treatment.
I've seen people immediately jump to much harsher and scarier self-diagnoses after experiencing these symptoms and while that is entirely possible and I'm not here to tell you what you don't have, many chronic conditions are diagnosed by exclusion, and sometimes it really is just "that silly deficiency everyone thinks they know about". And chances are even if you do have other issues, anemia and/or vitamin D deficiency exacerbate your symptoms, and it's an important enough symptom for further diagnosis of autoimmune disorders.
Don't just start randomly taking supplements. You didn't know what dosage or form of those you need. Talk to a doctor. In my experience, getting a referral to a hematologist is much easier than to a rheumatologist or neurologist. It's a good place to start figuring out what's going on. Start there.
#jay rambles about life.txt#all of this goes double for POC because as a rule of a thumb doctors aren't trained to notice the more obvious sign of either of these#on another other than white skin. Anemia's telling sing being paleness will tell them nothing. advocate for yourself & further testing#on anything other than white skin* eh autocorrect

caught my younger sibling walking around with numb hands for weeks like that was normal so PSA theres some weak evidence that the following are common in POTS:
B12 Deficiency
- characterized by numb (pins and needles) hands and feet, which is persistent for days no matter what position your limbs are in
- take dissolvable B12 tablets once daily by holding them under the tongue for a couple minutes
- ideally those should be the like 2000000% DV ones, since B12 is water-soluble and near impossible to take too much of
- B12 shots can be prescribed for very severe deficiencies
- if this doesn't go away in like a week, See Your Doctor! these are peripheral neuropathy symptoms and that's something 1000% worth checking out ASAP
Magnesium Deficiency
- characterized by a tight kind of muscle soreness (for some reason always in my calves) that doesn't go away with rest
- others report tremors or being unable to keep the legs still
- either take a supplement daily or epsom salt baths
- be warned that oral magnesium works as a laxative, so start low and work your way up
Vitamin D Deficiency
- can cause fatigue and the "seasonal depression" kind of mood
- this is just really common in the general population, not just in people with POTS
- oral supplementation works fine, most daily vitamins have it
- in more severe cases your doctor can prescribe higher dose supplements
Also if you keep getting these symptoms all the time or it doesn't go away within a couple days of supplements, you probably need to see a doctor
#by weak evidence i mean theres like one doctor who observed this trend and it only kinda exists in research publications#but my personal experience is that i get these deficiencies recurrently#this is one of those things id classify as “not harmful if I'm wrong”#which is my litmus test for medical management without a doctor#all of these can cause fatigue and for anyone experiencing that its not a bad idea to try these#disability#ehlers danlos syndrome#chronic illness#postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome#salt baby talks#hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome#heds#oh yeah that dr is dr. alan pocinki in a talk for the edSoc on fatigue in eds

My lovely friends, this is a friendly evidence-based post pertaining to the risk reduction of a few well-known health effects of 4n4 and mia. Including: Amenorrhea (loss of regular menstrual period), anaemia, digestive upset, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, general well-being, and osteoporosis. It is quite a long post, but please let me know if there’s any other information you would like me to cover. 💕
🪐 Vitamins and Supplements:
• A-Z Multivitamin. Is beneficial for supplementation. For example, Vitamin C is a vitally important vitamin for the body’s connective tissues, including the maintenance of healthy bones and teeth, cellular formation and maturation, resistance to infection, and an increased ability to heal. Additionally, B12 contributes to an adequately functioning nervous system, bone marrow, and intestinal tract. It also acts to increase metabolism of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Finally vitamin B2 when combined with Vitamin A promotes good vision and healthy skin, as well as assists in metabolising proteins and fats at a cellular level.
• Calcium and Vitamin D. Seek a preparation which offers 1000mg of calcium and 10-20mcg (400-800 iu) of vitamin D. Vitamin D increases the bodies efficacy during the absorption, retention, and metabolising of calcium. Calcium of course being vital for bone integrity and imperative for the prevention of osteopenia/osteoporosis.
• Iron. An appropriate iron intake will restore the functionality of red blood cells, allowing the proper oxygen transportation around the body, increase focus, energy, athletic performance, and sleep. Having a sufficient iron store will alleviate some commonly experienced symptoms of low iron including fatigue, dizziness, pallor, and shortness of breath. It may also reduce the sensation of cold hands and feet.
• Potassium and Zinc. A lack of zinc impairs the ability to smell and taste. Connecting this impairment to nose blindness. For example, a lack of a sense of smell and taste may impair one’s own ability to detect their own bad breath, BO, and other unpleasant smells that others may be able to detect.
• Omega 3’s - Fish oil, Krill oil, Hemp oil, or Flaxseed oil. Improper dietary intake, or supplementation of omega 3 fatty acids will result in areas of epidermal (skin) dryness, hyperkeratosis, and hyperpigmentation. As well as the formation large scales expose underlying tissue, which are easily infected. The hair becomes sparse, dry, lusterless, and brittle, with a reddish tinge. Furthermore, nails become brittle and dull, tear production reduces, the tears are also significantly less oily leading to increased evaporation contributing to chronically dry, red, and itchy eyes.
If oil supplements are scary for you to intake due to calorie fears (there is only approx 25 calories in 2 average fish oil capsules). There are dietary sources of omega 3 that are relatively low calorie including chia seeds, edamame, and seaweed. However they provide little amounts in comparison to supplementation or traditional dietary sources such as fish, avocado, oils etc.
However this should also be considered when deciding whether to supplement omega 3’s - they stimulate the secretion of leptin, a hormone that decreases appetite and promotes the burning of fat. Through the enabling of conversion of dietary fats into body cells for burning as fuel.
🍄 Dietary Intake
•Bone broth (or vegetable broth if meat is not apart of your diet ☺️) I cannot stress how great bone broth is! Extremely low calorie, but incredibly nutrient-dense. It also acts to decrease the inflammation within the gut that many of us will experience due to our dietary habits. Including conditions such as constipation, gastroparesis, liver disease, bloating, abdominal pain, and stomach ulceration.
Bone broth also contains large amounts of protein, collagen, iron, vitamins A and K, fatty acids, selenium, zinc, and manganese. Protein being the most satiating macronutrient can decrease hunger and associated discomfort. Collagen and the variety of micronutrients within the bone broth contributes to joint and bone health. Bone broth will also contribute to hydration.
•Nutrient-dense foods including blueberries l are among the best sources of anthocyanins (antioxidants) that promote brain health and reduce the risk of cognitive decline. Additionally, red tomatoes and red capsicum (Peppers). Tomatoes are the richest source of lycopene, which is a type of carotenoid found in red fruits that has powerful antioxidant effect that may help protect against heart disease and certain types of cancer.
•Fibre is imperative for smooth gastrointestinal function, including regular bowel movements. Fibre is of course typically found in whole fruits and vegetables, beans/lentils, and whole grains. Low calorie fibre sources include: red kidney beans, carrot, and chickpeas. Psyllium, chia seeds are also good sources of fibre. Fibre supplants such as Metamucil may also aid to increase fibre intake. An adequate intake of fibre may reduce the dependence of laxative for bowel movements. Prolonged use of laxatives may create a dependency on them to even have a bowel movement.
🥥 Adequate Hydration
• The best way to ensure adequate hydration is simply by consuming enough water during the day. However, if plain water consumption is difficult, fluid intake will also suffice. Including fluid such as teas, flavoured/enhanced water, diet soft drinks, juices, etc. The optimal fluids to consume in addition to, or instead of simple water to ensure adequate hydration is mineral water, coconut water, or diet electrolyte replacements (Powerade/Gatorade, Pedialyte, Hydralyte). Correct hydration and electrolyte intake will reduce headaches, constipation, and muscle cramps/weakness.
❤️ Reproductive Health
•Amenorrhea is a common experience for those of us with a uterus. However it is imperative to understand that you are more than likely still ovulating despite the lack of a regular menstrual period. Therefore, contraception must still be used. Amenorrhea may be alleviated through dietary supplementation and small changes to the diet to include more micronutrients, but it may not be completely fixed unless there is an increase to body fat percentages.

Hormones are powerful chemical messengers produced by glands in the endocrine system. They travel through the bloodstream, regulating various bodily functions such as growth, metabolism, reproduction, and mood. Hormones play a significant role in maintaining balance in the body, known as homeostasis, and any imbalance can affect your mental and physical well-being.
How Hormones Work
Production: Hormones are secreted by glands like the thyroid, adrenal glands, pancreas, and ovaries/testes.
Transport: Once produced, hormones travel through the bloodstream to target cells or organs.
Receptors: Hormones bind to specific receptors on cells, triggering a response. This can involve altering cell activity, gene expression, or initiating a cascade of processes.
Feedback Mechanism: The body monitors hormone levels using feedback loops. For example, if a hormone level is too high or low, the body adjusts production to maintain balance.
Key Hormones and Their Functions
Cortisol: Stress hormone; regulates metabolism, immune response, and energy.
Serotonin and Dopamine: Mood and happiness regulators; linked to emotional well-being.
Insulin: Manages blood sugar levels.
Estrogen and Testosterone: Sexual health, energy, and bone strength.
Thyroid Hormones: Control metabolism and energy levels.
Melatonin: Regulates sleep-wake cycles.
Adrenaline (Epinephrine): Prepares the body for fight or flight.

How to Support Hormonal Health
To feel better mentally and physically, it’s essential to maintain hormonal balance. Here are strategies to care for your hormones:
1. Nutrition
Balanced Diet: Eat whole, unprocessed foods rich in nutrients.
Healthy Fats: Avocados, nuts, seeds, and omega-3s (from fish) support hormone production.
Complex Carbs: Whole grains and vegetables regulate insulin levels.
Protein: Essential for hormone production; include lean meats, beans, and tofu.
Avoid Excess Sugar and Refined Carbs: These can cause insulin spikes and crashes.
Hydration: Proper hydration supports cellular communication and detoxification.
2. Sleep
7-9 Hours of Quality Sleep: Hormone regulation (like melatonin and growth hormone) occurs during deep sleep.
Consistency: Go to bed and wake up at the same time daily.
Limit Screen Time Before Bed: Blue light can suppress melatonin.
3. Stress Management
Mindfulness Practices: Meditation, yoga, and deep breathing reduce cortisol levels.
Physical Activity: Exercise releases endorphins, improving mood and balancing stress hormones.
Journaling or Therapy: Helps process emotions, reducing chronic stress.
4. Exercise
Moderation: Both too much and too little exercise can disrupt hormones. Aim for 30 minutes of moderate activity most days.
Strength Training: Boosts testosterone and growth hormone.
Cardio: Supports circulation and reduces stress.
5. Avoid Endocrine Disruptors
Limit Toxins: Avoid products with BPA, phthalates, and parabens (found in plastics and cosmetics).
Clean Water: Use filtered water to avoid contaminants.
Organic Foods: Reduce pesticide exposure, which can disrupt hormones.
6. Maintain a Healthy Weight
Excess body fat can increase estrogen levels, while too little fat can disrupt reproductive hormones.
7. Regular Medical Check-Ups
Hormone Testing: Regular blood tests can identify imbalances early.
Thyroid and Reproductive Health: Monitor specific hormones like TSH, estrogen, and testosterone as needed.
8. Natural Supplements (Consult a Professional First)
Vitamin D: Supports mood and immune function.
Magnesium: Regulates stress and supports sleep.
Adaptogens: Herbs like ashwagandha and maca root can balance stress hormones.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Reduce inflammation and support brain health.
Signs of Hormonal Imbalance
If you're experiencing persistent symptoms, consider consulting a healthcare provider:
Fatigue
Mood swings or anxiety
Unexplained weight changes
Irregular periods
Sleep disturbances
Low libido

I was just wondering if you could tell me more about Newt's food allergy: what his symptoms were specifically, why you suspected an allergy, how his diet change has improved his symptoms, and what diet you ultimately settled on? I saw in a video that you were feeding Tops to avoid the soy he is allergic to, but that you still needed to figure out how to supplement it with enough vitamin D, which it doesn't have.
I ask because I also have a maroon bellied conure, and he just recently started plucking his down feathers for reasons I can't explain (good diet of mainly harrisons and veggies, big 6ft long by 2ft wide cage with various toys, gets daily oit of cage time and attention, and saw an avian vet who said he's perfectly healthy). He has also been producing an unexplained (two avian vets found nothing wrong) sniffling noise off and on (accompanied by sneezes occasionally) that doesn't seem like a vocalization or mimicry attempt.
A couple people on a parrot discord suggested that it could be a food allergy and pointed out that your mbc also had a plucking (and sneezing) issue that ended up being due to a food allergy. The fact that the only internet-famous member of his species just happens to have had similar issues is making me strongly consider that the causes may also be similar, so I am interested in hearing more about the situation and how you have been dealing with it.
Thanks!
Sorry your bean is going through it! For Newt he had on and off plucking as well as massive dry sneeze fits
Unfortunately parrot allergies are so understudied that it doesn’t seem anyone really knows what symptoms really are or aren’t indicative of it, no one seems to be exceptionally consistent and most symptoms that Could be allergies can also be 100 other things so it’s quite hard to A) get a vet to consider the allergy option and B) test for it
Food allergies are quite uncommon (or perhaps it’s just so understudied that many allergy cases are misreported) so it’s generally advised to rule out all other options first since they’re typically more likely (which sounds like you’ve already done!). Vets will go down the checklist, do a fecal and some bloodwork, take a good look in their nares and throat, might run a course of antibiotics just in case anything else is cropping up (allergies won’t usually suddenly get worse quite like a bacterial infection, yknow, so they’ll want to knock those options well out of the way before waiting for them to get worse)
I tried /everything/ including every (reputable) holistic route as well: adding bee pollen, decreasing protein, increasing humidity, precise temperatures, increasing omegas, everything that could potentially help to reduce dry skin or hormonal influences to address the plucking issue. And same for the sneezing - every recommended vet option, scoured my house clean, isolated him from anything that /might/ somehow be releasing fumes or mould I can’t see, humidity again, steam showers, nasal flushes, you name it
If you’ve tried everything else the current best way to determine if something is a food allergy is through an elimination diet. You essentially remove every single food item from the diet except the ones that are vital to life and are of a low likelihood to produce allergic reactions. (Common bird allergies are soy, wheat, floral pollens, and spirulina from what little I was able to dig up back when this was happening for us).
This means no treats, not a fleck of anything outside of One low-allergen pellet (for some birds it may need to be a seed mix, if a single pellet is still producing reactions) and low-allergen produce. I noticed changes within a couple of days but I’d say up to a week of complete elimination to confirm if there’s improvements within their symptoms or not. If their symptoms decrease but don’t cease entirely bring your findings to the vet for more support, wait more time to see if it decreases more, or thoroughly evaluate the current ingredients to determine if something else might be less irritating for them. If their symptoms cease/ are quite low you can add a new food in, wait a week, and see how they respond. If there’s a consistent spike in symptoms that’s probably an allergen, if there’s no change the food is likely safe. Keep adding foods over time until you’ve manifested your own list of foods that aggravate symptoms or improve them.
You can bring that list to your vet who might be able to simplify it for you (for example they might have a wacky long list that makes no sense but in reality all the foods have a common genus, or common pesticide usage, or naturally occurring pesticide produced by the plant they could be reacting to, the vet team might be able to help it make more sense). Or maybe you get lucky and have only a couple of allergens you can easily track and remove from the diet
In Newts case it was soy, which seems to be quite the common parrot allergy to have that potentially stems from the fact that soy is toxic to birds if not properly cooked/ processed. I imagine some birds are just more sensitive to that so what counts as “properly cooked” just isn’t proper enough for them. But again. No studies on parrot allergies to really confirm that theory with
For us I was able to remove any pellets that had Soy by using TOPs pellets during the elimination diet. Once he was stable I was able to very gradually introduce pellets that had less soybean overall or used more thoroughly processed soy- caitec oven fresh bites.
But during the recovery phase he would react very strongly (lots of sneezing) if he was fed anything by Harrison’s (which uses whole toasted soybeans, instead of the more processed soybean meal that caitec uses - meal is the byproduct of soybean oil collection so the meal is not only heated and baked but has less oils present than the whole soybean would). I have a post on here during the process where I offered him literally 10 of those micro tiny pellets Harrison’s makes that all together would be the size of Newts eye and within minutes of eating them he was sneezing up a storm. Now, nearly a year after this, I’m able to offer him two Harrison’s pepper adult lifetime pellets per day without issue.
For us it seems like the break from those allergen heavy foods gave his body what it needed to calm down and be able to tolerate smaller doses without issue
Being able to have those other pellets in combination is really what’s helping us fill that vit D gap, if I wasn’t able to add them back in I would be working with the vet team and getting him on a D3 supplement most likely as well as picking every produce option high in D as possible

Hey another PSA from your local "one time I had no vitamin D in my body" guy about low vitamin D levels:
Another symptom of extremely low vitamin D is being unable to get warm. And when I say "unable to get warm" I mean unable to get warm while wearing multiple layers in weather where most ppl would be in shorts and t-shirts.
#tho also when i say low vit d i mean 'congrats on being a victorian orphan bc you got the rickets' low vit d#it's called something else when you're an adult but it's funnier to say i had the rickets in my 20s

forgot to give an update! our best lead is low vitamin d. all the other readings came back normal, but my body also picked poor timing to randomly start working again right BEFORE i went in for tests. going to start a vitamin d supplement and hope it helps! 🤞🏻
love being 30 years old and still vibrating with anxiety in my car in the parking lot of the clinic before getting labs done 🙃
#sick blogging#my posts#low vitamin d doesn’t explain all my symptoms but at least it’s something actionable#until i can see the neurologist in december

Health news!
So, I've been having neck pain, that turned into head pain, for a year and a half now, and while I've had some more comfort since the center of pain was switched to my head, I've still been unable to walk, run, dance, jump, or use any tools like a hammer or a hoe. My right arm became functional again, but my left arm hurts from even holding a cup of tea. I had a neck MRI, and then a brain MRI, and there was no visible cause of pain, so I had a talk with my doctor, and she decided to test my blood for low vitamin D and low B12, and to check my thyroid function.
It turned out my thyroid is fine, but I had low b12, and critically low Vitamin D. She explained to me I need to get b12 shots every month, and that this could be the cause of the pain. When I came in, the doctor seemed overjoyed we finally found something concrete that is wrong with me, that we could treat, while I was wildly skeptical because I've been looking up symptoms of the deficiencies. While I had every symptom for vitamin D deficiency, I had none for b12, and only one article suggested there could be muscle pain as a result of it. Seems like feeble proof.
I have not been ignorant of my poor diet and living habits, I knew I had low vitamin D, and had supplemented it over the winter months, but apparently the store-bought dose I was taking was not enough. I did suspect a b12 deficiency as well, and was starting to take some B vitamins recently, but then read somewhere that they're dangerous to randomly take so I stopped. So what I'm saying is I knew I was sorta deficient, didn't think it was a big deal, I thought I was fixing it, I wasn't, my supplements didn't affect my pain or health. I got prescribed some powerful Vitamin D supplement, and got a b12 shot.
I have to say though, the nurse who was giving me the shot was acting ridiculous, first she was saying it to me like I'm a child, and I'm an adult, so I said 'I like shots, this won't be a problem'. She was not impressed. When she put the needle in me, I commented on how I can barely feel it, because I love acting cool in front of women with my high pain tolerance, but then she said 'When people tense their muscles it can get real bad and the needle can get stuck inside of them'. She said that while the needle was in me! I said 'I don't think I should be hearing this right now' and struggled to stay relaxed, and then she quickly pulled it out and it was fine. Maybe she just hated my positive attitude about getting the shot and needed me to be more apprehensive and afraid, which I don't feel is an attitude a medical professional should have?? Anyway. The shot was free for me so I love that.
The doctor told me 'you're going to feel much better next few months', super confidently, but I am still skeptical, I mean I wish I did feel better, and I'm relieved that something at least is getting attempted, and maybe a healthy dose of vitamin D will help with mental health, so okay, that would be an improvement. I doubt it will cure my head hurting while I walk though. Maybe I just don't understand deficiencies.

••••Soooooooo••••
I had to go to the hospital on the 1st bc my heart rate got up to 177 while sitting °^°
Apparently, I was dehydrated and my potassium/a few other things were low (not to mention I also struggle with POTs)
This is a reminder to Seriously
⭐DRINK YOUR WATER AND TAKE YOUR VITAMINS⭐
This IS a disorder and it CAN be dangerous. As much as I down-play my symptoms, I was pretty fuckin scared that night.
Please please please be careful. We all get caught up in this d!§⁰rd3r, the way our b0dy's look, the nvmb3r on the sc4l3 ect, but you also have to take care of yourself too. You Have to stay hydrated. If your b0dy needs a little extra to get through the rest of the day then that's perfectly fine. It could literally be the difference between being okay, your sugar bottoming out, a hospital visit, or worse.
There's a lot of electrolyte drinks, supplements, shakes, multivitamins and more that can help with this.
Use what's best for you!
You don't wanna end up sitting in a hospital room for hours. It fuckin sucks.

Back from a full body check up, blood, ultrasound, everything short of MRI. I was not kind to my body in my 20s and still haven't been, though I'm improving. I'm basically in the monitoring stage for a few problem spots, but aside from shockingly low D vitamin, my other markers are 100% despite everything. And I thought I'd be relieved, but a part of me is like 'someone please punish me!'
Pretty sure a lot of my symptoms are somatic. I know this branch of my family despite some autoimmune shit (a lot of autoimmune shit) are made of some seriously sturdy stuff, but idk. Feels like all that terror, physical pains and anxiety are wasted now that my markers are excellent and nothing malignant was discovered (I do need to be monitoring closely though, these lymph nodes being the way they are for six months is no joke). I don't even have endocrine issues or a fatty liver! The rational part of my brain is glad, but the empathetic part is like 'you need consequences, you self-destructive little shit.'
Edit i have a fairly good idea what's causing my lymph fuckery though, and I'm gonna try something medically approved to see if it works.
